I saw trickster more then the twins and hag combined lately
And i also play the trickster, hes really weak, but i find his gameplay funny, if only he could have some more pressure...
I'm almost convinced his gameplay style is based off of that hack where killers would rapid fire hatchets lmao It's a fun idea
-
It depends. I see him more regularly than super rare killers like Oni or Clown, but not as often as Nemesis since he's new or staples like Ghostface.

With enough practice you'll be able to achieve that. Treat every trial as a brand new start, and realise that once you start to identify the killer/ survivor perks, you'll start to out-play them.
Just play how you like. If you enjoy the game more, the odds are you'll play better than if you relied on perks that you felt were forced upon you.
Good advice. I honestly just have to adapt to unfair trials and get over it. I wish it wasn't like that, but I still want to have fun and that's the only way to do it lol

Ah yes; a 'real win', as dictated to me by people who aren't me. 🙄
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2317075#Comment_2317075
I try to enjoy the game, but if I don't try my hardest? 'GG EZ baby noob Killer'. 'Uninstall, noskill'.
If I try to win? 'Noob camper baby', 'play like a real player'.
If I'm going to be ragged on either way, I'm going to play MY WAY.
All this talk of 'camping is for noobs' and 'real wins' from other people is nothing more than a lame pressure tactic to convince Killers to stop trying to win, so they, in turn, have easy matches where they most likely t-bag out the gate.
That's a personal thing at the end of the day. I mean I genuinely get taken out of most trials more quickly than ever with little to show for it and it's beyond frustrating, but I try not to hold it against every killer. I mean I'm not teabagging them at the gates, handing out verbal lashings, and getting some friends together to stun lock the killer for fun. You should always play the way that's the most fun for you, but doing it because people are mean to you is the same as expecting people to PM you for approval for a win imo.
I mean I obviously can't tell anyone they're not playing legitimately because there's no bar for that. I don't main killer either, so that'd be more redundant than anything. Everyone plays the game their own way. I just think unfair gameplay is unfair gameplay no matter which side it's on. I get that it's reactionary, but that doesn't really change that fact.

The problem is that this is a cycle. If survivors keep going up against tunneling killers, they focus more and more on doing gens and getting the hell out. If killers repeatedly go up against survivors who rush through gens, they feel forced to tunnel to slow things down. As a player starts to use those tactics, it becomes less and less likely they'll hold back against casuals as time goes on. I doubt most people start that way, but they adapt to play that way because the reward of winning will often outweigh a fun journey that ends in a loss.
Players can't be expected to be the ones to change because they're individuals, not a hive mind; the gameplay has to change, and that's on the devs.
Yeah, I've noticed that too. I still try to play in a way that maximizes gameplay and teamwork, but I know the majority don't. And with how both sides seem to have an aversion to fun these days, it makes sense that it's the norm. I would love to see the game changed to where everyone gets to play and no one gets singled out, survivor and killer alike. But until then, it'd be nice to meet halfway if we can.

Well, I'd say give it a try anyway! All my setups are random, and yes sometimes I wish I'd put Lithe or something in my setup, but perks are what you make of them, and if your basic game is good, you can still make it out with perks as daft as Slippery Meat!
Really, the meta builds mean very little if the basic player skill isn't high, and if it is high enough, then a meta build isn't really necessary. Play to your strengths and be unpredictable. There's a lot of opportunity for success there, and it's sometimes funny when getting a 4k with pqdded traps and distressing against survivors on meta, or surviving against a meta killer with perks like No Mither or This Is Not Happening.
I usually make builds that revolve around at least one unique perk for that character. It makes the game feel a lot more unique in terms of who you're playing as and forces you to be more creative. Not that that always works out in terms of survival, but I play to have fun anyway. I just wish I didn't feel pressured to have to be pushed out of that to implement perks that protect me from other players instead of perks that allow me to enjoy the match. But I guess that's all down to perspective really.

It's not my job as Killer to PM you and ask if it's okay to try to win because camping and slugging 'ruin your game'. If you can't accept that the enemy team (or player, in this case), is going to play optimally, then maybe PvP games aren't your cup of tea?
My goal, as Killer, is to kill. Not to cater to your feelings and ask if it's okay if I try to win. If me trying to win ruins your gameplay experience, then playing against other people is probably not something you will enjoy.
I agree that bringing feelings into it is really stupid. But I at least wish people would actually want to enjoy the game and not speedrun every trial. Or that people would want to play fun builds instead of running the same handful of perks every single game. Camping/tunneling so early into the match actively denies anyone else from advancing in the game and enjoying themselves. Not saying there's no reason behind it, but to reiterate your point, why play a game with other people when you want to shut it down as quickly as possible?
This goes for both sides as well. I get really bored when other survivors all run the same perks without anything unique to their character and genrush while ignoring everyone else on the team.
-
I usually wait to help everyone else escape if I'm full health but dead on hook. I don't mind letting a killer smack me one last time unless they played like a real jerk the entire match, in which case I just leave lol

wait in 2016 you could have 5 perks or it was a bug?
I'm pretty sure the Streetwise is the AOE effect from another survivor. It's just not little like it is now.
-
I've depipped from someone disconnecting before we even entered the match lmao
The ranking system really is a joke. I agree that it's better to ignore it entirely if you can.
-
I really like running No Mither David. It's a lot more interesting than the basic meta builds most survivors use and it totally eliminates the worry of having to be healed in order to do anything. The only real downside imo is leaving orbs with Oni which makes no sense, but thankfully I've never ran into one playing that build with David.
-
NOED can be pretty annoying as survivor, but there's nothing wrong with it. I get my little "hehe"s from running Head On and Flashbang, so the killer should have theirs too.
-
Not the worst challenge by a long shot. But those are the most boring to grind, for sure. The only silver lining is that it's 10 gens and not 12 like usual.
-
I always hate when survivors do that. I run We'll Make It pretty often and I have to fight them while they're trying to Self-care or work on gens. I get that killers are more aggressive lately, but that's all the more reason to scrounge for points where we can. Gen rushing pays out nothing and makes iridescent challenges a nightmare to complete.

End Game Collapse is fair game. People will still get mad, but it's no holds barred at that point.

Wait; DC penalty is off?
Welp, I'm not playing until it gets turned back on. Nothing like Survivors using any petty excuse to DC & blame me for their actions.
(Yes, I'm aware it goes both ways. I play Killer more, so I speak from a Killer perspective.)
People always do it regardless. I can't count the amount of times someone on my team baby rages and suicides on hook in the first few minutes or DCs (clearly not on accident) and screws the rest of us over. I've been getting a lot of killers DCing lately too mid-match.

I'm gonna be really surprised if most people don't start modding the game once these release.

Tomorrow is the 2 week mark from when the RE chapter released and the RPD map exclusive to the chapter is still off-limits too. They still sell things like this knowing these issues without doing their best to inform the consumer.
The map is not exclusive to the DLC. No map is, in fact. This has been the case since DbD was released.
I believe you should always do your best to be polite. But when someone sells you something making claims that are untrue or withholding important information, they're taking advantage of your trust to turn a profit.
Politeness and trust are not synonyms. You can be polite when pointing out problems, just like you can be impolite while agreeing.
It was released exclusively alongside this chapter is what I meant. People will buy the chapter along with DBD thinking they'll be able to play the RPD map and they can't, while Behavior still advertises it like you can.
That was my point. But there's a fine line between being polite and being inappropriately empathetic with a team putting out a product. You don't have to point out problems with unfair demands or by shouting and cursing, but you also shouldn't fool yourself into worrying about how much they care when you're still being had.
-
As a customer, I think they deserve to be grilled for a lot of things. Why should we spend more on each chapter and cosmetic when we get content that's broken? I've been asking them to fix the Ashy Slashy puppet for months, which they've finally acknowledged but when are they actually gonna do it? Tomorrow is the 2 week mark from when the RE chapter released and the RPD map exclusive to the chapter is still off-limits too. They still sell things like this knowing these issues without doing their best to inform the consumer.
As far as the game itself goes, every update comes with the most bizarre bugs that make trials insufferable at times (like survivors screaming at full blast from across the map, palettes not stunning or going invisible, hud elements disappearing, etc.) and they're usually such obvious things that it makes you wonder how they could've missed them at all. You can always assume that something is going to be weird or straight up busted every time they update the game.
I believe you should always do your best to be polite. But when someone sells you something making claims that are untrue or withholding important information, they're taking advantage of your trust to turn a profit. Thankfully this is just a video game and not something vital to anyone's well-being, but it's really ridiculous to see people say "well they tried" at times when they're being incompetent at best and manipulative at worst.

I honestly think that, if matchmaking were fixed, this is one of the things that would get a lot less annoying. I am not playing at Tournament Level Efficiency, and I don't want to, and I don't the people I match with to do that, either. It feels really boring and sweaty to me to watch people pop all the gens and scrape their faces against the wall so they can run the Optimal Route to the gate -- but there are some people who want to play that way. So match those people together and give me the people who forget what their controls are and get stuck on the door. That's who I'm meant to play with.
My thoughts exactly lol

Just let me finish all of my stun/blind challenges before everyone complains about how toxic it is and gets it reworked.

Agreed. Best part of soloing or solos are those moments.
I know, those games are tough when you get a string of them together. But at least you get to practice looping.
I wish I could practice looping more. I just work on avoiding certain areas or hiding better. There's been a lot of matches where being downed once means you're likely not doing a whole lot for the rest of the match. I hope things calm down a bit more so I can actually learn lol

I know others disagree with me on this, but I believe so.
I played Friday and killers straight tunneled one of us all game. Even had a legion that I chased and blocked and took hits just refuse to let the other survivor go. Tunneled them right out of the game. Then of course noed at the end.
But shout out to the leon that still came back and got me. Best part was slow walking out the gate while legion just stood there too afraid I may have DS.
GF just tunneled and hit me off hook as soon as my feet hit the ground, then just hooked me right away. Didn't have DS, trying to have fun with my fast heals, but made me put it on after.
I get it. And tactical tunneling I can understand. But, it's hard to respect a gamer who's whole strategy is to tunnel.
I get these matches so much more often lately and I'm just left thinking, thanks for the gameplay, lol. It feels so rewarding to be in queue for 10 minutes, in-game for 4, with enough points for one or two spots on the bloodweb. I get that killers want to avoid the genrush, but what about the people that don't get to play at all because they're targeted from the start?
Glad to hear about the Leon though. A lot of solo survivors are really awesome in those situations and do everything they can to help out. Teamwork can really be amazing sometimes.

Even just taking the chat into account, I've seen far more survivor toxicity than killer toxicity, in a manner that is disproportionate to the ratio of survivors and killers.
You're right, it is anecdotal. This is my anecdote.
Exactly 😎
Crossplay has eliminated a lot of the chat nastiness at least. It's rare that people even talk much anymore. Btw were you playing today?
-
It seems pretty even to me, with both making pretty outrageous claims at times. When DS was reworked especially, my god.
-
Genuinely the best matches I ever have is with a killer that wants to farm points with survivors. I'll let them close hatch in my face and kill me as long as we all get to have a good time and get a lot done. I mostly assume the killer is going to be really aggressive right off the bat these days though, which makes things a lot less fun.

Survivor main here, I see survivors being terrible more often. Always have, as a matter of fact.
It depends on different things too imo. I don't consider smacking and teabagging offensive, which changes things considerably. I guess I have been yelled at by other survivors a few times, but I've also had killer pull the EZ EZ thing on me and had one Trickster screaming at me because he couldn't find the corner I hid in after he slugged me lol
It's all anecdotal at the end of the day is what I was getting at more or less.
-
Only two things bother me with Nemesis:
1) His tentacle whips down but it acts like a projectile. Totally messes with my head lmao
2) It's cool that he carries us differently, but with DS in mind, do we stab him in the cheek now?
-
I never care if killer whacks me as long as they're not camping, but people get really upset about it since it's the killer's way of teabagging. I'd say hooking the same person 3 times in a row is unfair and unfun, but it's not against the rules or anything.

You make a great point about having experience before asking these sorts of questions! I used to be a killer main a few months back. The comment I was responding to made sure to use the wording of "finishing their objective as quickly as possible" (In reference to killers camping and tunneling), so to some they might want a fast easy match. You mention killers wanting to finish the game at all and securely, this is an interesting point because killers don't have to play boring to get kills at all. Riveting and exciting gameplay makes this game fun regardless of kills or being killed.
This is exactly how I feel. I'm perfectly fine with losing 80% of the matches I end up in. I just want to have something to do and have fun earning points. When I feel like I have to run specific perks and avoid completing objectives because the killer is going to keep gunning for me until I'm dead with 8k points max, it makes the game extremely unfun. I honestly wish matches were more balanced so nobody had to walk away empty handed or end up with a target on their backs, killer included.
-
The odds of me finding a useable key in a chest and actually getting to use it are a lot, lot lower than the killer running NOED during a successful run for my team and slugging us all before we can escape. Not saying that keys should never be changed, but I feel like it's not as common as people make it out to be.

I'm always the lucky guy that unequips Unbreakable, because I haven't been slugged in 20+ matches, only to get slugged in the next match. Or who brings a medkit for a rift challenge and then faces 3 plagues in a row.
I'm the sap that burned the streamers I'd been saving up on a bubba match that ended in 2 minutes flat 😭

I feel the idea of the DS change was absolutely the right one to take. However, I do agree with @SleepyWillo that the stun has never been that big a deal.
It would be very detrimental to revert the changes, but I'd be all for an extended stun duration, or even a killer version of the hindered status effect as an incentive for people. It may make it more appealing.
Yet, if people are noticing an increase in tunnelling and refuse to equip this perk still, then it's difficult to empqthise with the frustrations.
I just wish it were a part of the base kit at this point, but that would mean taking an anti-tunneling stance which behavior would never do. I usually don't run DS because it's honestly boring as hell having to run the same batch of perks on every single character. There's also the fact that I have a pretty large skill tree at this point so DS might not spawn for over 50 levels. In terms of other players, it's one of the perks that's behind a pay wall unless you happen to catch it in the shrine, which many people might not want to do.
In a perfect world I'd like to have fun with a No Mither build or a totem build without feeling like I'm totally boned without DS/BT/Unbreakable/etc.

BEhaviour had to make this as smooth as possible for the new players but they made the game so much worse, calling the Resident Evil chapter a disaster would be an understatement.
It's odd to advertise new content while not delivering on all of it for this long, that's for sure.

I still wanna play the RPD map after buying the RE chapter and both legendary skins, but it's been disabled (minus the extremely rare chance of getting it now) for close to two weeks. The chapter will be over by the time we get to go there lol

It's actually annoying how good of a match i have as a killer and really want to see the vod and then it's like "Check this DBD stream from 7 days ago"
Yeah lmao Sometimes I'm curious to see what they're doing during the match too. Not to cheat or snipe, but just genuinely curious what they're talking about. But like I said, when they are live it's usually some vtuber talking about their LDR and it hurts to listen to.
-
I'm not great at looping. While I wish I'd have some time to play around with it and learn, more often than not, I end up getting a killer that downs me early on for taking a risk and vaulting at the wrong moment or rushing for a pallet. So most of the time, I just say F it and create distance by running. It might be boring for whoever's chasing me, but it helps my team more in the long run and gives me a better chance at getting away and earning more points during the match.
And that's before you add in the increased risk (in my experience) of getting camped on hook, tunneled off hook, or just slugged once you are downed. It's just not worth it to learn if you don't already know most of the time.

Tbh every streamer I play with/against is either not streaming at the time or they're a vtuber, so... 😬

Isn't it hilarious? We have to be adults to play the game but have to monitor our language like we're on Club Penguin.
The most confusing examples for me have been Wesker (as in Albert Wesker) and Sunderland (as in James Sunderland). Try writing them in a lobby lmao
-
I've noticed it a lot more lately too. There's times where you just have dumb luck and get the killer's attention too early after being unhooked, but there's a lot of killers that will gun for one player and force them out of the game as quickly and unfairly as possible.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
I love some of the changes the devs have done so far but for every good thing they do they seem to screw up something else.
When I started playing years ago people were afraid of the killer. Now survivors just laugh at you. They don't even bother hiding. They just run everywhere and feel safe because they know where all the pallets/vaults are. It lost the horror aspect of the game.
I love the DS change. Now people only get hit by it if they are actually tunneling.
I remember infinites and double pallets. Glad those are gone.
I hated the ruin rework. Ever since they nerfed that the amount of noobs hitting red ranks is astounding.
The list goes on but lately I feel the devs are getting lazy. Every killer lately has been lack luster. Every patch breaks the game. It's almost like they aren't even trying anymore. They know there is no competition so they can afford to half ass a release. Name any other multiplayer game where the new map doesn't work? If CoD ever did something like that there would be law suits.
Almost 2 weeks into the RE chapter and RPD is still busted lol
-
I swear it used to happen less often, but I experience it at least once every few games now. They either circle the area relentlessly when someone's hooked, tunnel right after someone's been unhooked, or slug as many people as possible. It feels really crappy to leave the match early with 5k points because the killer decided you weren't allowed to play. Or to try to stop them from taking someone else out early and failing.
When they do that, I always assume it's for a challenge or they're speedrunning to rank up faster or something. Or they're mad at some other survivors and taking it out on us. Regardless, it sucks.
-
It mostly depends on the side you lean toward. Survivor main is gonna see killers being terrible more often, like killer main is gonna see survivors being terrible more often. I never take teabagging seriously, but I also only ever do it if the killer has played really unfairly the entire match and there's no way out for me. Then again, I've seen killers get really offended when survivors do it to each other to communicate or killers punishing one survivor when they weren't even the one that did it lol
-
Lame, but I get it. I wouldn't mind longer queue times if it meant I could avoid unfair players.
