as we all know our next killer has been captured and taken away he now resides in a crappy b game with a even more toxic community. although he is the star in this game he is suffering, abused and neglected. many times he has tried to escape but they catch him every time. I of course am talking about our fallen comrade Jason Vorhees lost into the mist of Friday the 13th. BHVR we need a search and rescue party to infiltrate the premises and extract poor Jason from his prison. once extracted we will need to put him through many years of physical and mental therapy to help him get over the trauma he has endured he will most likely never fully recover and will probably suffer from PTSD. he will need our full support but maybe we can give him a happy life again. cmon everyone lets rescue our long overdue new killer!

Uh, I'm not 100% sure, but the copyright holder of Friday the 13th will start legal stuff with anyone who tries to use anything about F13 in anything. It would be a very poor financial decision and would probably spell the end to Dead by Daylight along with F13: The Game.

This post came up when I was searching for some information on 'charges' on things.

What do the charges stand for on a toolbox or medical kit?

For example, if my medical kit has 16 charges, shouldn't I be able to heal 16 times from dying to full-health (myself or someone else) and a faster speed than without a medical kit (in the case of Claudette)? Also, why can't I use it on myself in the dying state if I can crawl far enough away that the killer can't find me (and why can't Claudette)? For toolboxes, similar question, however I do understand that since the toolboxes have a significantly higher number of charges that generators should likely be assigned a number of charges to get them from dead to finished, like 24 (just an example) and sabotaging would cost less, like 8-12 charges. For both health kits and toolboxes (generators and sabotage activities), currently their time is sped up by very subjective terms like 'Moderately' and 'Significantly' rather then a firm percentage like 10/15/20%. Those terms are very subjective and if I'm going to lose that item if I don't win the trial, I need to know this information to make an informed decision about whether I want to use it and risk losing it. I personally think losing your stuff when you're killed is just adding insult to injury. Maybe the killer can have a perk or offering item that causes survisors to lose their stuff if they don't survive the trial, but right now I'm sitting on a stockpile of toolboxes and health kits I'm afraid to use because I don't want to lose them.

And finally, when I find an item on the map, I should be able to tell how many charges are left on it, either with a tooltip or a pop-up description of the item plus add-ons (if any) and number of remaining charges so that I know how useful that item is really going to be and if trading my packed full common toolbox is better than a shiny new Engineers' Toolbox I just found.

If this is the wrong place for these questions, please let me know and redirect me.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with these questions!

    Susan

Hi, and thank you for asking! Charges are a little bit complicated. For example, a generator takes 80 charges to complete. A normal survivor without any perks or items "contributes" one charge per second while working on a generator. So, lets take the common toolbox. It has 80 charges, and slightly increases your generator speed. Every toolbox increases your "generator speed", but what does it mean? It means you "contribute" more charges per second. Now, the devs don't like to put exact numbers for whatever reason, but a common toolbox increases your charge "contribution" by 0.10. So, now, you are contributing 1.10 charges per second, while the generator still requires 80 charges. this means that you now complete the generator in 72.72 seconds. But! It gets more confusing with multiple survivors working on a generator. When more survivors work on a generator, it decreases each survivors' charge contribution by 0.10. So, two survivors working on a generator without perks or items, each contribute 0.9 charges per second, making a total of 1.8 charges a second, so the 80 charge generator can now be completed in 44.44 seconds. Same for 3 survivors (each contribute 0.8 for 2.4 total, and 4 survivors is 0.7 for 2.8 total). Then, it gets even MORE confusing with efficiency add-ons and streetwise. They reduce the amount of charges your item consumes! So, if you have a common toolbox with "instructions", which reduces your item consumption by 0.30, you are contributing 1.10 charges to the generator, while also only using 0.70 charges of your toolbox per second. Charges apply to EVERYTHING in dead by daylight, even your vaulting speed is affected by charge affecting things.

Hmm. Of course, you and I can't know everything that goes on at BHVR, so we can't assume everything. You don't have to lash out at every little change you don't like. Maybe give yourself some time to cool off before posting on the forums?

Edit: I just think you should let yourself think about things before calling for things like people being fired on the forums.

For those of you who played day one, remember when wraith and trapper had their own tracks that played while in idle phase? (Looking for survivors)

These themes you’ll recognize partly because they were toned down and made into universal tracks that every killer can hear, however the original versions really complimented the play style of their killer.

of course now only a bass version of the Trapper’s theme, “Cruelty” can be heard which is the only other track besides ‘Unstable’ and ‘Hiding’ that plays while stalking around as killer.

For those of you that would like a listen, here’s the trapper’s theme. This played while on McMillan Estate as Trapper, or when all Bear traps were armed as Trapper. https://youtu.be/MdO-NIhPFuk

Those of you who play pig will recognize the bass in this track, as it was later remixed and can be heard almost always when either ending a chase while crouched, or when there is an RBT on a survivor.

As for the wraith, his theme,”Hiding” is also still available in the game, but is no longer the same version, sharing the same change as Trapper’s theme. His once exclusive variation of this track can be found here.  https://youtu.be/Ij6ApVYbspA

I think killers desperately need more in-game tracks.

God I would love if each killer had their own chase theme/terror radius theme. It would make it really feel like you are THAT killer, and make it more immersive. I think the game just doesn't have enough atmosphere for the killer side of things.

Those are drastically different from a killer rework. You're talking about major game-changers that devs have been working on for a long time. A one killer rework is most likely doable in 2-3 months.

I take Wraith Cube for 500.
Question: what hyped rework was really disappointing?

I'm pretty sure BHVR had some sort of company/financial problem all throughout late 2017 and early 2018.
Not a lot happened that was major in any way from 1.5.0 to the emblem update. (1.9.4?) You couldn't have expected anything of worth from them during that time. Just a hunch though.

For the last 2 months, the devs have been saying he's next up on the "rework chopping block". I'm almost 100% sure that this upcoming chapter 11 will include his rework.

I don't think they will have time with new chapter, mid-chapter patch, console optimization and new skins(because we all know how greedy they are when it comes to money) since they chose to hire more people to work on the skins rather then fixing the game

What? BHVR is like the least greedy, most transparent, most "good-intentions" video games developer company I've ever seen! They've most definitely been working on him, and I think he was planned to be given his rework in 2.3.0, but they wren't satisfied with it. Some things take time if you want them to be good. Also the optimization patch is in December, the next chapter is most likely in November, so...

I have done a little bit of C++ programming. About 6-8 months of it. I don't know everything, but my point was it's not that easy to find one bug in a huge line of code (especially code in a video game the size of dbd).

If they have a good structure it shouldn't be too hard, but yeah debugging can take it's time. But I'm sure they have spaghetti code because most times they change something something else aso doesn't work anymore. For example the bugged nurse (in early 2018?) Stun + Bloodwipe shouldn't happen .
But well I think this is too much off topic as this is not a programming forum.

Yeah it's possible. After I long time I assume it's hard not to have somewhat unorganized/confusing C++ lines.

I like the ideas but I think these changes are necessary to keep balance.

    • kicking generator times are increased to the old version (can still buffed by brutal strength)
    • generators can be kicked while completed but is auto completed with a gas canister (takes 5 charges) or takes 10 seconds to complete normally.
    • BNP auto completes first phase.
    • survivors suffer a permanent 5% action speed when placed on the hook for the first time.
    • survivors suffer a permanent mangled effect if hooked for a second time. (They still die on third hook)
    • mangled effect does not carry over if the survivor has reached struggle phase. They must be physically hooked twice but still die if placed on hook again. This is to punish camping but promote hooking newer people.

Yes, I agree, except with the kicking generator times. I don't think kicking a generator should take so long, it's a very monotonous action. I'd prefer to just kick it then go do something meaningful.

  • I don't think your post is going to be a spiritual awakening for anyone. Big walls of text usually don't do that. Admitting you did something doesn't change the fact that you did it, and for most cases, won't change the fact that you'll keep doing it. Especially in a videogame, where most people play to escape real life. They can act however they want. There is no problem with people. There is a problem with the game. Can you honestly, with a straight face, say DBD is 100% fair and balanced? I highly doubt it, because it isn't.

Edit: Sorry if this came out a little harsh, but I sincerely mean it.

It's not a problem with the graphics. DBD has so many "moving" things. All the grass, little hook swivels, ambient moving parts on generators and other objects, it puts a massive stress on the system. I hardly believe they are planning to port it to Switch anytime soon.

SWF groups of 2-3 could have the option to open up to solo survivors and solo survivors could have the option to Q with SWF groups.

Anyway, it would let killers murder survivors with their buddy's and solo survivors wouldn't be forced to go against swf groups. Problem solved!

    Thoughts?

Also with that said how do you all feel about the graphics of DBD? A few of my friends always complain about it like "Oh the game looks terrible and the messed up part is that, that game is on the latest version of Unreal". It's typically something like that and at times I have to agree the games looks can be... terrible also still wish the maps didn't look a lot alike.

Dead by Daylight can't get a graphical update until they do something to handle all the weird extra stuff that makes the game run super slow on consoles and lower end PCs. All of the grass and jigglebones and VFX puts too much pressure on the systems. I would like a graphical update to the older killers though. They just probably won't do that until they fix the frames issues and stuff.

Have you ever programmed C++? It has a nice structure and can do so much work for you. Try C, it's very easy to shoot yourself into the knee with it but not with C++ as you have classes and it's an OOP Language. I honestly think that NO killer should have 110% movement speed. Powers should be adjusted to fit the 115% movement speed base.

The Nurse and Killers with ranged attacks should be slower than M1 Killers. This adds a layer of complexity to the game.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly thinking about her. She's the only one IMO who should have a slower movement speed. Making killers have a 110% movement speed, honestly, is a cop-out on the dev's part. More effort should go into the power to make it balanced, instead of adjusting the base movement speed.

Billy is much too easy to pick up, especially for how powerful his power is. I agree his addons need buffs (Also applies to Leatherface), but my main point here is that there's no build up or chase value to his power. No chases. I think that every killer should have some sort of "chase". It's part of the game, and both Billy and Leatherface's chainsaws need a rework. Michael Myers is the perfect example of how you should integrate the Exposed effect into a power.

You probably can't hit these chainsaws because as you said he's one of your least played killers. The guys who makes these chainsaw hits look easy are people who either main him or play him often. I've been a billy main for quite a while and I always felt like these chainsaws have been really easy, until I actually get a really good survivor who will juke me into hell and back till I give up and smack them. It seems extra easy against bad/inexperienced survivors but quite hard against good ones.

My point is that he is much too easy to pick up and start playing. I have 1,000+ hours in the game and the only reason I can't play him is because Xbox has 20 fps and it causes a LOT of misses. I've seen way too many people playing Billy and it just feels unfair to be hit by it. Even when you try you hardest and make the Billy miss a few times, it still sucks when you get hit by it, or any insta-down power. The problem with Billy is that he has it ALL the time. it shouldn't be as powerful as it is. I also think Nurse should be looked at as well, but that's a much different story.

maybe but i mean his lunge is ridicoulous only myers teir 3 should have lunges like that.

I don't think he has a different lunge? Haven't tested it, but I assume it is baseline.

Billy is fine, but the Doc has a solution for you specifically.

Thank you for contributing nothing to the conversation.

30 secs bleedout timer? there wouldn't be a point to hitting ppl with a chainsaw then

It's a general number, something around there. My main point is that billy should still participate in chases, but have shorter ones compared to other killers. This is what the bleedout timer would do.

maybe not nerf the chainsaw but his movement speed and base stats. make him moere reliant on th chainsaw to force players to git gud at him.

I honestly think that NO killer should have 110% movement speed. Powers should be adjusted to fit the 115% movement speed base.

    Nice post with interesting ideas.

Thank you! I see a lot of posts complaining about things but never a post about ideas or suggestions, so I thought up something and posted it here. I hope it at least brings some better discussion to this forum, makes people think more, you know.

Wow an actual good post. I like a lot if these ideas but something on this scale would take a while and would completely change the game. I actually like current dbd and tbh id rather the devs do bug fixs and balancing than trying to change the gameplay so drastically.

Yeah, I always see people saying "this needs to be changed", so I thought to myself, no one has ever thought about what to add/change. So I came up with this huge idea. I think something along these lines is necessary for the longevity of DBD.
