His chains are an absolute pain. It's understandable if the chains break more easily against the environment, but Pinhead himself can also break the chains if he crosses through them, which happens all the time. He's the only killer that can sandbag his own power.

Trapper's the only one who can rescue survivors from his own grasp with his own power though :P

  • I got three in a row. First one was an absolute chad, running crowd control which lasted all match, insidious camped me in the basement but while running speed limiter. Let me go in the end as well ☺️

  • I'm with @Friendly_Blendette , plans sometimes don't work out for things which is disappointing but it happens. But bhvr do the same thing again and again which is to cease discussing it entirely and ignore any and all questions about it.

Console optimisation, disconnection "husks", the early game mechanic, hit validation, offline bot matches etc. When nothing happens and people start asking about it there's just silence from every platform. No question on these topics makes it into the Q&A's either.

Is that lying? Not really but it's not remotely honest or particularly pleasant way of doing things. BHVR aren't the Mafia, they don't need a ######### code of omertà.

  • The worst is yet to come...breakable walls on haddonfield are going to be completely deranged, I can sense it. There'll probably be one in the middle of the street or one of the hedges.  And a new building made entirely out of breakable walls that on the inside has an entire Halloween script written all over it. But not one of the good ones, that one that has Busta Rhymes in it for some reason. Maybe the exit gates will have a breakable wall in them too.

    What is the incentive:

    Bloodpoints

    Iri shards

    Variety in gameplay

I did a 25 match killer stream this weekend where I played each killer one round - was a lot of fun.

What is your stream btw, unless you're not comfortable sharing that

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

If you are good at playing some of your other killers it wouldn't be fair to low MMR survivors to match you with them. Even though you are just learning DeathSlinger, you will still have transferable knowledge and skills from other killers.

Of course if you have little experience with Huntress or Trickster, you won't have the skills to play DeathSlinger that the game might have been expecting, but it should soon adjust itself.

Yeah on one of the older tests when unplayed killers started at the bottom I played huntress for the first time and got brand new players which was kinda cruel. Doesn't matter if I can't land hatchets, with them you don't need to

  • @Peanits said:

This is normal. When you play a Killer for the first time, the game will base your rating on your other Killers rather than the default/lowest rating. From there, it'll adjust separately as you play. If you have a few bad matches, your rating with that Killer will lower and you'll start to get paired with Survivors that you're more comfortable with. If you're a natural with that Killer, it'll stay the same or even increase depending on how well you're doing.

How many matches is that likely to take?

  • Wooden fox. 15 seconds of undetectable on a killer who already has powerful stealth potential is just too much, even for a purple.

More seriously iri photocard since I haven't seen it mentioned yet. I'm kinda over exposed iri addons in general

I haven't seen that at all.

Maybe I'll try Twins. I haven't played them since December.

I also do notice small variations based on whether I win or lose, like a 0k or a 4k will generally lead to stronger or weaker survivors in the next match depending on which way it went, unless i'm playing at a stupid hour of the night when it's a free for all like before. But then i've seen people on here saying they get sweat matches over and over no matter how hard they lose, so maybe there's some issue where hitting higher mmr ratings gets you stuck there (I'm gonna go and assume yours would be higher than mine), which would be the sort of issue a system made by bhvr would have.

I don't really mind not knowing how exactly the system works but that also means we don't have much idea if and when it's currently bugging out or something...

I hope you get more enjoyable games soon in any case.

    I can testify against this.

I have NEVER even played Freddy. I didn't even own him before a few days ago, I had zero MMR. My first game I got the exact same 4 stack that I got with Nemesis, who I play extensively and prior to MMR, I had lost only two games with.

If there is individual Killer MMR, it obviously isn't working.

maybe it takes baseline mmr too much into account now but there is definitely individual killer mmr. There's a very noticeable difference in the survivors I get with demo, plague and blight and the ones I get with trickster, huntress and nurse if I'm playing at peak times. I played the last two killers i'd never played before the other day (twins and ceno) and I'd say it was probably somewhere inbetween although probably closer to the survivors I get with my stronger killers.

I've played enough recently to make it less likely that it's purely coincidence or confirmation bias.

  • Sweaty/tryhard are often just the last resort if you're salty about losing. You can get a killer who isn't one of the strongest available and doesn't camp or tunnel or slug or run good addons and gets 12 hooks, or survivors without good perks or items, clearly not in a swf and clearly participating in the match much more than just hammering out one gen after another. You have to invalidate their victory somehow to make it clear you didn't really lose.

I do think some people play this game with a lot more seriousness than is required especially in certain situations, not gonna get into a screaming match on their steam profile or something over it though.

  • I think he's pretty well designed. There's the killers which on release could do with some small changes, and some which you kinda prefer they just delete them and try something else instead, I'd say he's the former.

  • I think my record for first hit on a survivor is 6 seconds (blight with LP) closely followed by 8 seconds (blight without LP)

  • People always say everyone is going to leave when there's a change they dislike. All killers were going to leave after the ruin nerf. All survivors were gonna join them after the DS nerf. Idk maybe this will be the one but steam charts etc are usually disregarded in favour of gut feelings and anecdotes

  • The survivors good/efficient enough that you'd "need" to tunnel will generally also punish it the most, while you sweat for the 1k and eat through BT, DS etc they'll smash out gens.

The survivors where the whole team falls to pieces the minute you start focussing one of them aren't the type of team where you need to tunnel to win, so again, pointless.

Slugging is necessary sometimes, tunnelling is something you should grow out of after your first few games of frosty eyes wraith.

  • It's disgusting is what it is. Can't even put on a mori for survivors with no fashion sense anymore. Possibly the nastiest survivor shadowbuff ive ever had the misfortune to witness.

  • Well they disabled dead dawg for having an uncleansable totem but didn't disable lerys which apparently also has one

Idk consistency isn't their strong point

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

An adrenaline squad? Naisu. Very underrated perk. I mean, most people put it near the top, but still, very underrated.

Four survivors with adrenaline does make me feel kinda nostalgic

  • I was kinda the same when I started, was new to PvP games so was a rough intro (yes I've heard about modern warfare lobbies etc etc)

I don't really have much specific advice, what worked for me like others have said is taking the game less seriously, obviously how to actually get to that point is the more difficult topic.

With killer specifically it was running stupid builds, or no perks, or even deliberately sabotaging myself before the match started, or a combination of these - I mean like old bubba no perks speed limiter with a haddonfield offering. Losing is fine because it's obviously expected. Winning is an ego boost, angry survivors stacked out with meta perks is plain hilarious.

With survivor I usually got less tilted but with both sides the other thing that helped is when you run into someone who's an actual dick, like who's playing in a specific way that's obviously just supposed to piss you off and has no tactical value, just to be nice to them. Obnoxiously nice. Not sarcasm because that's still them getting what they want. If someone lets me bleed out or facecamps me hitting me on hook the entire time I tell them gg :) , if someone tells me I'm bad I'll say something along the lines of "lol true" and wish them luck in their next match. It annoys them much more than firing back insults does I promise.

how did bhvr kill spirit? hasn't she been the same since release?

Nah she's been buffed and nerfed just not for a long time

  • @Ghost077 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2508221#Comment_2508221

The Pig was nerfed by the EGC. There was also a Nurse. Spirit may simply be reached later, as a newer one.

EGC or not nerfing her was a choice, and an unnecessary one, saving all your traps for endgame was pretty high risk. If a pig isn't putting traps on anyone that'd be a good signal to start breaking dull totems for one thing.

They were also going to nerf her more so the traps paused whenever the pig was nearby, not even in chase - that was one occasion they backed down after outcry. But yeah this is mostly the sort of balance changes they're into, the completely unasked for kind.

  • @Ghost077 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2506440#Comment_2506440

Because a lot of baby survivors are complaining about her. And devs love baby survivors, and don't like when matches become "unfun" for them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2507517#Comment_2507517

Maybe you can prove it personally and play a series of games on her? On stream or in recording of a series of matches, where it will be seen that nothing is cut there. And of course it would be nice if you first raised your MMR on her so that you come across competent survivors.

those baby survivors have been screaming about spirit for years (including me, I'm the biggest baby of them all) while the devs stick to nerfing pig, billy and demo instead.

Balance decisions aren't made because of angry survivors, those decisions are reached via a combination of statistics, whatever happened to Almo in his last game and a magic 8 ball.

    @NoOneKnowsNova said:

How did it go bad if you're starting with T3 Nemesis!?!? You're avoiding having to get 4 hits with your power early game.

Killers mains are so bad smh my head.

He's just not viable without his rocket launcher :(

  • I mean there's a lot of variety in those builds. Only two have prove thyself. And one of them put the green addon and the styptic in a different order, I think we've found the resident mad lad

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I thought the box disappeared if Pinny teleported to the box? Or did the survivor just hold onto it the whole time and never attempted to solve it before Pinny showed up?

It sounds like the killer found and downed the survivor without teleporting, could be hoarder or just good luck (or an oblivious survivor running around wildly)

  • @JohnWeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/279986/cenobite-on-the-game-map

The Game rework has been out for 6 months now, everyone, EVERYONE (survivors and killers) admit that there are way too many pallets/windows/strong loops on this map but BHVR does nothing, as always.

Also, concerning Pinhead, the slow down when he catches someone with its power is way too small, chains are breaking really fast, even more on indoor maps where there are walls everywhere.

I have played Pinhead last days and it is really really rare that a good use of my power delivers a hit; why ?

    • When you use your power you are stopped, you don't move anymore.
    • While aiming with your power, the survivor continue to move on and is stopped a few meters away from when you started to use your powers.
    • Time you need to catch up those few meters away negate the chains effect, rendering the power totally useless.

What does it mean ? It is useless 100% of the time to use your power in chase.

Chains should not be broken with walls or other survivors passing through. Time to break the chains must be slightly increased.

Concerning the map "The Game", if you end up on this map with a loop weak killer (Demo, Oni, Blight, Doctor, Billy), it's useless to play it, it will be a pain in the ass.

I agree with you on most of those killers but I think it's a great blight map, I actually like going there as him

  • Could be interesting. What I'd probably do is activate EGC after a short period when there's two survivors left. Any survivor that hasn't been either working on gens and/or in chase with the killer for long enough in the period before it starts gets instakilled, which could be one of them, both, or neither.

It's irritating being the one of the two that always dies because I'm not going to join the other one in crouching around the map for 15 minutes doing nothing. Well, my issue is less me dying and more the useless one surviving really.

  • I've got lerys on blight three times in a row before

  • @MadLordJack said:

Aftercare, Object of Obsession, Lucky Break, and Flashbang. All of them are good perks - Lucky Break is borderline broken given that you can run a killer as though you were predropping pallets, only without using any resources - but no-one seems to run them all that much.

Lol lucky break is completely broken imo but survivors don't seem to realise that so I can run it while not worrying too much about having to face it

End fury on billy, for some reason people hate me when I use this build, I guess they'd rather see a billy with ruin undying.

If you play billy you can run ruin/undying/tinkerer and let me bleed out for no reason, I'll probably still be happy to see you

  • @fogdonkey said:

MMR = number of comments on these forums

Damn I'm gonna have to start playing ruin/undying/tinkerer/noed nurse. My forum MMR means I have no other choice

  • @th3 said:

You say that he is broken but I’ll raise you this match I had where the trickster sniped me while on top of shack with a hatchet through a wall. Hmmmmmm.

I had a teleporting trickster with base instadown who had us all slugged 20 seconds into the game. This was before the buff so I was pretty impressed as you can imagine

  • If we want scary we could have devour hope start with 3 stacks. I mean it's only a matter of time before a bug does that anyway

  • Of all the cool things they could've done when changing huntress' iri and adding the other iri addon they just went for the most boring things possible. Reloading after every shot or being a 115 killer in exchange for not having a power, serious lack of imagination there.

  • Agree with tinkerer being the issue. The notification triggering unlimited times just makes it obnoxious on high mobility killers with ruin. One notification per gen should be all you need. I haven't used ruin with undying but I've used ruin + tinkerer and got good totem spots at which point my perks where doing more of the work than I was*

*Obligatory mention that survivors also get carried by perks just because that's how this forum is

  • Urgh old ruin and old undying existing at the same time, I'll pass on that

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

Here's 3 from each side I adore, but it doesn't come up as part of the more popular, yet limited, selection:

    1. Deja Vu: This perk is so underrated in SoloQ! It progressively makes the killer work harder to stop the gens flying by, along with preventing a 3-gen problem in the late game. It's difficult to see the results of Deja Vu's benefits, but it is a supreme game changer.

    2. We'll Make It: This perk switches a dire situation into a positive one so quickly. Paired with Empathy it's amazing, but alone it's still an extremely efficient perk to get your fellow survivors back into action.

    3. Smash Hit: It basically ends the chase for the killer. Not only do they have to recover from the smack, but then they've lost a ridiculous amount of ground. I call this "Roadrunner", as it reminds me when Wile Coyote gets smacked by his own trap, then Roadrunner appears, goes "Meep meep!", and sprints off.

    1. Spies From The Shadows: Never underestimate the crows. Those guys have been so good I was even accused of cheating because a crow alerted me to them sneaking into a locker .. on The Game! A keen eye, plus survivor unawareness, makes this a brilliant perk.

    2. Iron Maiden: For those trying to deal with über-immersive of Quick & Quiet survivors, or even those just needing a locker, this can be great, especially if they had to leap into one at the last moment. Catches out more than you think, and dynamite with BBQ & Chili.

    3. Trail Of Torment: With the variety of perks that light up gens for survivors, this perk can easily sneak in and cause a ruckus. Also, oblivious is a great status to impact on survivors. It's just a great perk I get a lot of use out of.

You ever paired trail of torment with dragon's grip? Can be pretty spicy

DG would also be my submission. One of my treasured memories is a a survivor tapping a gen mid-chase and going down instantly, plus he was a streamer so I got to watch his reaction afterwards.

  • Lol I only have beast of prey on huntress, who ofc gets great value from undetectable perks.

Between this and the m1 challenge I'm gonna be having some pretty stupid huntress games.

Uh... you can get bullied anywhere where there is person to person interaction. Yes, even the internet. Your comment spews ignorance.

I just ignore anything that begins with the word "imagine". Vastly improves the quality of things you read plus I always hated that John Lennon song anyway

  • The players who whine about lightborn are usually the ones who still desperately try to blind you over and over anyway and die as a result.

Think, Meg, think! The beam isn't getting any narrower!

  • I wouldn't assume they're survivor mains. They could be but there's a good chance they also play killer and shriek at survivors in postgame as well, it's pretty common

  • @Shaped said:

Are dream pallets even worth it? I hardly played Freddy after the rework and started recently, but it seems that blood pools are a lot better.

Snares have always been stronger but I find pallets much more fun (assuming they're not currently bugged in some way)

I'll only run snare freddy if I'm doing some build that doesn't leave room for a pallet addon.

  • I'm not sure that's the most helpful way to phrase it but yes some people seem displeased with that perk on that killer. From what I've seen it looks potentially strong but I'd need to try it myself or at least play against it a lot to decide, so far it seems counterable enough imo.
