Top 1% MMR btw

You might not want to actually tell bhvr you're putting slinger in your dating sim or whatever

thats not what was stated, first use a low mmr character to bait a rematch with bad players (due to their low mmr) making them easy cannon fodder for someone they should never have gone against im not talking a bit worse players im talking use a character that has thrown mmr so far most people you would assume are doing less than afks
Lot of effort to smurf although I'm sure some would. If survivors don't want to risk that they could just not agree to a rematch though?

Is nemesis hoarder good? Or does that even work
I imagine it would work but survivors almost always use the vaccine right after picking it up and it gives you killer instinct when they use it anyway

I'm still waiting for hoarder in the shrine lol
I am gonna be so pissed when they nerf it to not work on cenobite and then I just have hoarder unlocked, which on any other killer is basically a survivor perk lol
-
Lightborn is nice in that scenario but not necessary. Even if they get multiple flashlight saves on you it doesn't mean much if no one does gens, and while you chase one survivor the other three chase you.
-
Twins was in the same tier for me but I caved to get hoarder for cenobite. I actually find them really fun. Also huntress where

then you can just have someone lower the mmr of one killer massivly then bait really low mmr probably newer players into a rematch against a god nurse or something
The rematch could be non-MMR affecting to prevent abuse. I think if a killer wants a rematch it would be expected they'll go harder especially if they lost, unless they just really liked the survivors.
-
@bjorksnas said:
Wouldn't work, every rematch would devolve into survivors now knowing which killer it is and what build they are using and changing their builds to counter them
All doctor rematches are now full of calm spirit
All trapper rematches now have maps with trap tracking
All hag rematches now have 4 flashlights
decent idea but in practice it is highly abusable and no sane killer knowing these factors would probably want to use them so it just becomes a noob trap for people who don't know better
What about if the killer could select any other killer + build regardless of MMR?

Nobody wants to be camped the whole match it's not about being salty, if I'm playing with friends or trying to get stuff off on my rift done, it's kinda hard to do that when you only have killers that slug you the whole game or down everyone and instead of hooking them waiting for the entity take them. Your probably a killer that does it which is why your saying I'm salty but I'm a killer main, I don't tunnel I don't camp I don't slug I actually give ppl a legit game so it's not hard to just idk be a respectable game player and not a dickhead. You can't avoid sluggers or campers honestly. So if im following your logic then I shouldn't play any game that's multiplayer, don't act like you've never DC'd from an annoying match. I bet if the DEVS redisabled it you wouldn't have that same energy and you would quit anytime you wanted too, your lying if you say you haven't or wouldn't.
You play the game, you sign up for the rules of the game.
I play survivor and obviously I don't like getting facecamped or tunnelled or slugged until I bleed out, it's ######### but it's a risk I take readying up for a survivor game. Plus if the killer is doing it because they're determined to win or they're trying to annoy you (what other reasons are there really?) DCing or suiciding helps them and hurts your team.
I don't play killer like that either but I can't insist that others do the same if it's within the rules. If the devs say it goes, it goes.

You're so over this game you come back to say this? You seem like someone keeping tabs on their ex :p
Glad you've found games you enjoy more though, sincerely.

Funny thing I played as a survivor earlier. And guess what we three gen'd ourselves in the swamp vs. a trapper. But we had a boon totem light across the map, and whenever we would get hit we would immediately go running towards the corner of the map and heal our self's, and quickly. This was how one my matches played out earlier, true story. Now imagine a SWF with even half a working brain, you see how this could be OP. Pretty sure circle of healing is going to be meta. Since it's an upgraded self-heal. And the thing is only one person needs to run it so everyone can have access to it. So this a S+ SWF perk without a doubt. And I'm not a killer main lol nor survivor main, this is just my two cents based on my gameplay experience during this PTB. And I actually like strong perks, but this I feel is OP.
I think that could be mostly taken care of with some changes to how killers can interact with totems, I put it slightly better here than I did in this thread https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/283694/more-strategy-for-boons-on-both-sides/p1?new=1

If the survivor placed their boon badly, that's their mistake. They chose for it to be there. The killer shouldn't have to keep cleansing and cleansing every time that guy replaces it.
That's my point - if a survivor puts their boon in a stupid place, as a killer I should be able to ignore it and force it to stay in that stupid place, survivors shouldn't be able to just transfer from totem to totem without it being snuffed out. Sorry if I'm explaining myself badly, it's late my time.

@Snowbawlzzz said:

A cleansed boon should be cleansed, period. It's actually insane that survivors can just relight them for free. There isn't any actual counterplay at this juncture, the killer just has to play with that disadvantage.
That's just exactly the same as hex totems then, for an area-bound effect with (probably, usually) less impact than hex perks.
If survivors can't relight without it being snuffed out then if one of them puts it in a dumb place on the first totem they find in the middle of a deadzone I can opt to have it stay there so it can't go anywhere better.
If killers can destroy totems I can take out one in an area I don't want any boons being in (i.e. central building crotus penn)
This way they aren't just a carbon copy of hexes and there's more strategy involved in dealing with them on both sides.

They'll waste more of your time than second chance perks will. Losing chase is a huge deal and very easy to do with 100-something meters of Lucky Break + Distortion
In a particularly good area it could be a problem, which is why I don't think survivors should be able to switch totem without the killer snuffing it and/or killers should be able to actually destroy totems themselves.
-

What’s funny is that Boon Perks will be most effective on SWF teams.

Shadow Dance is Lucky Break + Distortion and it lasts all game, because the survivors can re-light cleansed totems
Even if it is a popular choice, kinda like @dspaceman20 said, I'd like to go against more survivors doing stuff like this rather than 4 x second chance perks + ignoring everything except gens.
-
@RoboMojo said:
I honestly think that bully squads are gonna love the perk. Although, I guess only time will tell. You're more than likely correct about the sweat squads though. They'd probably prefer to just hammer out the gens like normal.
I could be wrong, but even with 16 perks between them I find it hard to imagine them sacrificing even one more directly obnoxious one
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
You genuinely don't see why a SWF would want to run Shadow Dance? 100 meters of perfect stealth doesn't appeal to groups?
A swf might but the worst ones probably won't. Lucky break is already ridiculous and no one runs it. If lucky break had become meta or even vaguely common after its rework or its buff after that I might think differently, but it didn't.

Maybe don’t run in a straight line? You predict when slinger is going to shoot and dodge. If you are about to round a corner, he will be forced to take a shot. It requires input by both players.
Like I said, you can't run in a straight line. You have to weave back and forth and rapidly lose ground despite him being 110. You do that and get m1ed, or you stop and get m2ed. You don't outplay him, he misses.
Holding W is otherwise a very good tactic on him as long as there's tall obstacles between you, but that's not very fun to do or go against (or at least several slingers have told me in postgame it wasn't a very fun way of avoiding their power, but what else am I supposed to do really?)
-
@woundcowboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2529631#Comment_2529631
Right, because wiggling and dodging won’t ever cause Slinger to miss. It’s obvious you don’t play killer.
Slinger only ever misses, you don't dodge him. How do I react to and dodge a shot when by the time he's fully raised his gun he's already fired? With any ranged killers or killers who launch themselves at you - huntress, trickster, plague, PH and nemesis as well as demo and twins you get a cue when they're going to hit you with their M2/M2 + M1.
With slinger if you're not behind cover you can only pre-emptively weave back and forth while losing ground and as soon as you stop he can insta-shoot. And any slinger can shoot straight in front of them. Not disregarding the impressive aim some slingers have, but any of them can shoot someone running in a straight line in front of them. I suck at slinger and I can do that.

It would be fun if Slinger had a laser sight, so a little red dot pops up wherever he's aiming. Gives the survivor a que to know "ok it's time to juke since there's a red dot on me" or "he's aiming through the window, I should turn around." Like Huntress' grunt and axe gleam sound.
That would be cool, I don't think they had laser sights in cowboy times though? Not that my US history is amazing 😂 maybe something more for some cyborg sniper killer which I'd probably love regardless of how obnoxious their gameplay was.

So, are you happy with the changes now? Changes that make him entirely frustrating to play AS?
Good balancing should have made him fun to face for both sides, which these changes don't. And there have been suggestions on how to do it better. But this... They might as well remove him from the game entirely now.
Honestly if the only option on the table was to make him dogshit to play as I'd take it, you can avoid playing as killers, you don't get the choice to avoid playing against them.
But ideally yeah he should be given something else. Slightly faster aiming speed and a quicker aim than other ranged killers isn't enough and they should make him fun to play as and against. Ideally some kind of map control rather than any 1v1 stuff.

Just 2m longer, for comfort and QoL. Missing a shot at 18.1m feels really bad, but at 20m survivors could theoretically juke your shot on reaction VERY consistently so it doesn't make him much stronger. They can start juking on reaction if they are around 15m-16m anyway.
400ms ADS time + 500ms firing delay + 375ms travel time (40m/s travel time at 15m) = 1275ms time to react.
1275ms - 250ms (average human reaction time) = 1025ms window of potential reaction.
Survivors move at 4m/s, so a survivor 15m away can, on reaction, move 4 meters after seeing a Slinger raise his gun to ADS. Enough to dodge if Slinger is quickscoping and not hardscoping.
Slinger was literally my least favourite killer to face even after spirit, hag and twins, but I don't think I'd be opposed to unlimited range if these nerfs go through. I mean it'd be harder to hit across the map than huntress anyway.
@MeltingPenguins said:
These changes feel as if picked by throwing darts. By all means, they seem to be there solely to satisfy those very loud survivors that refuse to learn how to counter killers.
It's sad.
Oh, I guess he'll be 'fun' now for the players who get off to looping and juking and holding W to 'win' a chase, but to everyone who remotely knows how to play he'll be just frustrating.
Not to mention the changes to his iri addons really speak to the devs not knowing what they are doing
Oh stop with the self-pity, I whined about slinger more than any other because he was miserable to face. I'd rather go against spirit or hag and both those killers ######### me up regularly but I eat slingers for breakfast because I genrush outside of chase to get into a better game ASAP and in chase I hold W with objects kept inbetween us. Both counters, both dull as hell. I don't care about escaping I don't want to be able to counter every killer by running around in circles I just want killers I get some input in chase with.
Honestly he currently feels like an extreme version of clown and clown is easy to beat and boring af to verse.

I accidentally deleted my comment, I think. oops.
I liked his niche as a stealthy ranged killer, gave you a reason to pick him instead of Huntress or Trickster.
But I thinks it's weird that a cross-map injure or down as Huntress is fine, and a close-up injure or down from stealth as Slinger is bad. Both have counter play (paying attention), and both have similar levels of pay off. Both are reliant on perks to do consistently, and both hits happen from outside the killer's terror radius. Food for thought.
That is true. I started properly with huntress recently and got my first long range hit the other day, even from a distance I could see it barely grazed the survivor so I think the exact precision required from slinger would get on my nerves. One of the few times I have played him I did manage to shoot someone through some ridiculously small gap which was pretty satisfying.
How far would you extend his range?
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2529555#Comment_2529555
The something he could do that no one else could do was stealth with range. And that required a perk, anyways. But yeah, he is not really worth playing anymore unless you like him.
I still say without a lullaby undetectable/oblivious perks will be good on him. People underestimate them and mostly stuck to M&A because it was all he really needed, something like plaything could be nasty on him though (assuming every totem doesn't start getting blessed, idk how popular those boon perks will end up)
-
Firstly, well done for being rational about it and not just screaming about how slinger has been murdered because of evil survivors like some slinger mains have been carrying on.
I think the semi-stealth aspect was also pretty frustrating although not as much as ADS spam. Stealth + range being the annoying part. I would've probably given him some lullaby equivalent like huntress or trickster, although this way does mean he can use undetectable/oblivious perks in the way they can't.
So I would probably keep all the current nerfs, maybe add something to make him a better killer in ways other than the chase, not that I have much of an idea how to do that, and probably increase his range. I prefer it when each killer has something the others can't do. So apart from being able to fire one off quicker than huntress which isn't much on its own, he should probably have some secondary ability.
-
Sometimes even in English the patch notes can be worded a bit strange so the translations might not be amazing.
But you seem to have understood it correctly, the boon totems as are you describe although I'm skeptical they'll become massively popular. I haven't seen them in action though.

lucky break has a similar (extremely powerful) effect and almost no one uses it.

Exactly my thoughts.
You place it down as survivor near the action and risk the killer finding it and destroying it quickly or you place it down near the edges of the map and can’t utilize it fully but don’t run the risk of the killer finding it immediately.
Being able to switch totems without it being snuffed out by the killer removes a lot of strategy and decision making for the survivors.
Yeah, and as the killer you'd have the option to leave it alone too, if you feel like there might be a worse place they could put it.
-
@DTJObe said:
Yet killers can't move their hex perks to a more advantageous spot... This game just keeps getting worse.
I was kinda hoping they could only be moved once snuffed out by the killer, would make for more strategic choices on both sides imo

Ok cool that's all I needed to know 👍

The issue with crate of gears and tampered timer is less about the addons themselves and more about RNG and bad map design. One is easier to fix than the others.

That's not my point. I'm not saying to leave killers how they are for variety, I'm saying don't kill their strengths and keep only their weaknesses. Readjust their strengths so people still play them, they're still strong, AND they're more enjoyable to play against, because otherwise everyone is going to just play the same 3-4 killers.
I don't see how fewer people playing a killer who could be more fun to play against is preferable over almost never seeing that killer.
In that case we're in agreement, I think they should give (slinger at least) something to make him stronger in other areas. Killers who are amazingly good at 1v1 and terrible at everything else are the ones I have the strongest dislike for.
-
Old legion wasn't OP. Not even with Frank's mixtape and the stupid backwards walk. It was stupid and uncounterable but other killers could down you much quicker, and without their power they were 110. You can leave stuff like that in for the sake of variety but I could happily do without it. I say this as a survivor player and a killer player if that's what we're doing.
-
have you been in stasis? DS was nerfed which means DS/UB got nerfed.
Also his power is boring to verse but they didn't say that, don't make things up.
-
Okay I don't play slinger but I do play some huntress, they said his time to be fully ADS'd and able to shoot is 0.4 seconds which is not very long. When aiming with huntress survivors usually start weaving back and forth so I wait til they end up back in their original position before releasing, is there some reason slinger can't do that?
-
It would look pretty stupid but I'd be for it

1) use your eyes to see a 6ft cowboy walking towards you with a gun. If you're that bothered run spine chill.
2) predict ADS spam, just because he adsed doesn't mean he will fire. Learn how slinger players play. Learn common mindgames. Predrop. Learn which tiles he is bad in. etc.
3) An indicator isn't needed, especially on a killer who has only 1v1 and requires prediction from both sides.
I don't actually have much trouble with slingers, I just keep out of LOS and hold W when in chase, outside chase I do nothing but smash out one gen after another in the hopes of getting into a game without a slinger in it sooner rather than later, and teammates generally do pretty much the same. It is counterplay, just of an extremely tedious variety.
-
1) He was essentially a stealth/ranged killer with his specific TR and monitor. Ranged killers generally give a warning with a lullaby or larger terror radius seeing as they can hit you from further range, i.e. there's a reason huntress isn't allowed any real stealth potential.
2) ADS spam - pyramid head who came after was nerfed for the same reason, i.e. spamming M2 without actually ranged attacking so the survivor is forced to weave and lose distance before just m1ing. PH and demo can also kinda do this but they telegraph their ranged attacks.
3) Every ranged or sort-of-ranged killer - huntress, trickster, plague, PH, demo, twins, nemesis, cenobite - show that they're about to go for their m2 attacks giving a chance to react to it. By the time slinger has his gun fully raised you've ben shot already.
4) Baby survivors said slinger is bad on the forums and devs listen to them because they HATE killers 😥 Why can't they git gud 😥I can't believe they nerfed trapper too. 😥 I'm going to facecamp survivors until they agree to revert these changes 😥or I will demand a refund on all my deathslinger cosmetics 😥

Spirit and Deathslinger probably needed to be addressed. The problem is, they're basically scorched earthing these killers.
"Spirit could force 50/50 mindgames with no counterplay."
"Deathslinger makes lose/lose situations for Survivors with little counterplay."
Their response is: "OK, now they can't do that."
Hm. Well, Deathslinger in particular was a mid-tier killer. Anything he can do to sorta make up for it? No. So now he's just really bad & inefficient Huntress? Yes.
Meanwhile Spirit was top tier - but wait, now Survivors never have to worry about the 50/50, they can see AND hear her in Spirit Walk at all times? How is this killer going to be viable now?
They certainly have stopped touching killers with kiddy gloves, that's for sure. They just grab the issue by the neck, dunk it in a barrel of water and hold it there until it drowns.
they mentioned that on spirit only the directional audio might be needed, they might not end up adding the visual indicator.
Agree about slinger, I'm stoked about his ADS spam and stealthiness being nerfed but no he doesn't have a whole lot going on for him otherwise.
-
If I go against this and some dodo teammate does a gen before traps are off I will vomit from pure rage. Especially on RPD.

Can't you nerf keys without the hatch?
I'm a survivor main and I don't like keys. I use them for rift challenges, that's it. I'll avoid them on the bloodweb and even if I do have to buy them I never equip them without a rift reason for doing so.
If there are 2 survivors left sometimes it's just "a hatch game". I'm not looking for the hatch to key us both out, but for whichever of us is left after the other dies. This is completely negated.
NERF KEYS NOT THE HATCH.
but the current system is what turns games into this dull game of hide and seek when there's two survivors left. 2 solos without a key will generally both stop doing anything and wait for the other to be found and die. 2 survivors in a swf together with a key will creep around the map looking for the hatch - this is especially excruciating on swamp.
-
Dev update part 1 - "why is there no key nerf?"
Dec update part 2 (the part with the key nerf) - "why do devs hate killers and not give us anything we actually asked for
?"
