Is it a fat shaming spot for both sides? Can you walk through it but not the killer?

I also got caught in that very spot as a survivor recently, so definitely one for both, not just clown's big belly.

  • Simple: stay the hell away from the basement.

Those words are assumptions by someone else's standard though, which is a problem.

Take Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips: It is said to 'considerably' increase luck. So if your chance to jump off the hook is normally 4%, how much do you get if it is a 'considerable' increase?

    7%

You still have no realistic chance of getting off the hook. That 'considerable increase' is pretty negligible.

Giving the percentage allows people to make the estimations for themselves rather than relying on the judgement of someone else. And it's not like DBD is averse to using them either, because perks, more often than not, DO include percentages in their descriptions.

Ideally, we'd have a toggle option to give players the option to simply choose whichever they prefer, so everyone can get exactly what they want.

Yes, by the devs' standard, which should be perfectly fine, since it's their game.

Hell, in some cases different words mean the exact same thing.

Surgical Suture slightly increases heal speed (green addon)

medical scissors moderately increase heal speed (yellow addon)

needle and thread slight increases healing speed (yellow addon)

all 3 of these addons increase healing speed by 15%

Goes to show just how useless the terminology is.

Those are most likely just oversights by the devs when they reworked them. The words don't determine the value, they are independent.

I don't get why Orion is fighting this so hard.

There was another post a couple weeks ago and the argument was that it would be too time-consuming for devs and confusing for new players, but I really don't see how forcing new players to google what everything does is more confusing than percentages.

And the whole point about people not knowing how to math is moot when they'd come to the same conclusion after asking the internet what "moderately" means.

The internet, unlike the game, tends to not just give the numbers, but also the necessary context to understand them.

I side with Orion on this, this thread amply proved that most players are unable to interpret numbers correctly, especially when it comes to those related to probability. The adverbs do a fine job explaining the relative effect something has compared to the default values.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I love the contradiction these expressions give sometimes.

Demo's old Rat Tail said it "slightly" increased the portal setting speed, while it actually DOUBLED it.

Meanwhile Wraith's purple Swift Hunt says it "considerably" decreases the reappearance time, but it only reduces it by 0.3 seconds...

Seriously, if it wasn't for the wiki or youtube guides, players would totally be lost. I feel bad for newer players that want to understand these addons. Why not give the raw numbers?

I think you don't understand the relativity of those modifier words and you've actually just proven why it's sometimes better not to reveal the numbers. Unless one knows the context, which I doubt you judging by your post, raw numbers are often misleading and tend to be misinterpreted.

Doubling the portal setting speed for Demo is in fact just a slight change, since the action already doesn't take long.

As for Wraith, shortening the reappearance time even by "just" 0.3 seconds is a considerable change for him.

  • Charlotte loses her bodyblocking after 30 seconds when the player is controling Victor instead. It says so on the wiki.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/247887/can-we-normalize-huntress-rose-root-addon

It's 20%. a fully charged hatchet moves at 1000 m/s. with this add-on, it moves 1200 m/s. Uncharged hatchet moves at 625%.... let's see 625%*0.20 is .... 750%. a uncharged hatchet will move at 750%. Moral of the story. Flower Babushka+Rose root is new best add-on for huntress. The rose root effectively allows you to mid charge hatchets at new "old" max charge speed and fully charged hatchet with... these huge hitbox might as well be hitscan <15 meters.

I like how these giant hatchets hitbox now move faster than deathslinger's tiny harpoon gun with like the smaller hitbox and than you have trickster who has knives that move 1350 m/s or so but only deal 1/7-8th damage with same hitboxs as harpoon guy. balance at its finest as they say.

Impressive how wrong people can get their numbers sometimes.

I suggest looking at this article https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Movement_Speeds.

  • It's an interesting idea, but I see an issue with your second bullet point. It's rare for survivors to actually die from RBTs.

RBTs are mostly used as a time-waste tool, because they have to search for the right box, which gives the pig more breathing room.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

    Ask yourself the question:

Why do you trust so little in your skills with a killer that you go after a just unhooked injured survivor instead of the unhooker or anyone else?

Why is that your only possible conclusion for tunneling? Because it definitely isn't mine.

I'm going by efficiency, and it's more efficient as killer to reduce the number of survivors quickly than to essentially play a 4v1 the entire trial when only ever going for the next survivor.

In a 4v1, when I chase a survivor, there are 3 progressing the objective. When I hook the survivor, there will still be 2 progressing the objective and 1 going for the unhook. When I find the next survivor to chase, there will still be 1 progressing the objective. No matter what you do here, there is someone progressing the objective. As soon as you bring that number to 3v1, there will be frequent periods in which survivors can't progress their objective, which is good for when you are the killer.

I'm sorry, but your argument that killers tunnel because they are not confident in their abilities is silly.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

I used to do that on every match until I learned the hard way that it hinders me competitively, there were times where I lost matches due to this habit so I gave up entirely but I do it each time I suspect I’m winning but competitively? I have to suck it up, it’s seriously horrible for me, I really want the devs to focus a bit more on the “quality of life” things, especially for killers.

Could you elaborate on this? How did it lose you the games?

Tunneling I have rules that you touch a gen instantly after unhook and/or in front me your getting tunneled. Same as I have had survivors body block for some reason whilst being injured after coming off hook.

A bodyblock after unhook usually means they have endurance protecting them from a hit.

If you're going against babies or solo's, then yes, being a nasty old hardcore tunneller wins trials. But you were going against babies and/or solo's, so...

You have no way of knowing how I played in that specific trial nor have you any way of knowing what survivors I went up against.

I don't have the patience for bad faith arguments, which this one is just as much as your sweeping statement about hardcore tunneling. You can take your one-trick pony elsewhere, I'm done discussing this any further with you.

  • Hit them right after hooking, it cuts their scream short.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2170745#Comment_2170745

Fun may be subjective, but I've yet to see a single person that enjoyed the killer singling them out at the start of the trial and doing nothing but trying to kill them.

Tunneling is a part of the game. And it sucks. Hardcore tunneling is a part of the game. And it's stupid, loses killers the trial, and double sucks.

True, but some things can't be made in a way that is fun for both sides, especially not when it's one side pitched against the other.

As for the tunneling statement, that's a sweeping one I have to disagree with. Hardcore tunneling can lose the trial, but it can also win it, it all depends on the situation at hand. The argument that killers shouldn't tunnel, because it'll lose them the game is one made in bad faith and shouldn't be used.

  • Thank you guys for the well-made replies here, they're very much appreciated.

Fun is subjective. I don't find it fun when I feel like the control of the game flow is slipping from my fingers, which it shouldn't as the so-called "power role".

  • This is not a bug. Undetectable takes priority over everything else, there is no possible way to see an undetectable killer's aura.

  • This is something game developers need to realize: PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE MOTION BLUR

  • I played her without stridor as the entity didn't want me to have that perk for a long time on her.

I don't really need stridor with her these days anyways, I've learned to track them by the environmental changes and their footsteps, which helps immensely against iron will survivors. Stridor's not needed, it just takes practice.

Hmm the wiki doesn't say. Id have to test in customs. I had heard he was slower than survivors though. I mean its a easy thing to test get right up against a survivor and hold the saw and see if they start gaining distance

Edit: he is 100% mb. Still doesn't make much of a difference around some loops since he doesn't gain ground unlike the likes of bubba.

He's not, he walks at carrying speed. I guess you didn't check the movement speed article, the killer's pages only cover the speed while using a power, not while charging it.

  • @Predated said:

Except that it got changed back to 40%. It got nerfed in the PTB from 40% to 30%. Then on release they changed it back from 30% to 40%.

Considering you have addons and perks that are very strong with quick map traversal, having 2 portals less is fine.

That is wrong. Whoever typed up the patch notes at BHVR had accidentally switched the values in regards to which was the old and which was the new, something the wiki was clever enough to figure out and verify by cross-referencing it with the game's code. If anything that tells me you're not really in the position to criticize the wiki here, as you do in a later post.

And for your information: the devs can't just change the values of add-ons around, that is something that requires a patch, as unlike for example emblems, it's not something they can do through their backend.

Yeah, I dont know. It is simply math, at least for DBD.

That argument is nonsense as Stridor and Iron Will were in the game, and had those interactions, long before Spirit was even an idea.

So is this not mentioned anywhere in the game at all? We really need some updated tutorials

It's hinted at in the description of I'm All Ears, those 48 meters aren't mentioned by happenstance.

But yes, it's not mentioned anywhere in the game, some community members discovered that limitation by testing it out years ago.

    Okay...

    1. Does having Corrupt Purge ACTIVE affect your speed in any way?
    2. Does Worship Tablet increase your speed while simply moving normally with Corrupt Purge?
    3. How much does it increase the speed? The wiki page has a confusing number placed where the answer should be.

It's not confusing if you take a look at the movement speeds article. The wiki can't give a fixed number if it's a modifier, since that wouldn't apply to all scenarios.

You can also check the add-on's separate article, it mentions the resulting end speed.

I don't understand that certification process I'd have expected that to be possible but let's say you're correct (you seem to understand that) why don't they offer codes to their players to be able to play the PTB on steam? Surely that should be possible?

Most console players play on a console because they don't have a gaming pc, PTB DbD would run poorly for them and creating a special "demo" version on Steam for something that is only available for 1 week every other month doesn't seem worth the trouble.

  • Sorry, a message was posted inbetween me writing the reply.

I was referring to my own post, that he should be able to replace traps at will as base-kit, not in the form of a meme add-on that gives you no choice.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Actually, I'm seeing some really good use with it. You've accidentally overextended and have to get back to your 3gen you're defending, with a portal nearby. You know that they're on the gen from BBQ but don't really have the time to walk across all of Mother's Dwelling to get there. So you place a portal, teleport, and the placed portal that would normally be out of position and throw the game gets instantly destroyed and everyone's happy except the survivor on the gen you've just popped.

    See above

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241949/have-some-bloodpoints-for-crippling-your-power

Its actually a good add-on. If you put a trap down at a bad place and the survivors don't destroy it, you are effectively losing that trap for the rest of the match. This is a way to remove it. I like the change.

If anything then he should be able to replace traps at will as base-kit, not in the form of a meme add-on that gives you no choice.

  • @Xzan said:

Think about it that way: Once all your portals are set, you can't replace them if survivors don't destroy them. So if you have a bad setup for your portals you can still correct it.

IMO, that's a very desperate attempt to see the glass as half full.

Edit: just so you don't understand me wrong: that is not directed at you, just a general statement about how I'd view such an argument

Hey wiki description of this perk looks different to me than the one in game. Is anyone in their game now and confirm the exact reading of the perk. I swear I read the word HOOK on the perk last night but nothing in the wiki. Was I sleepwalking?

The wiki says it always adjusts its descriptions to make it clearer what the perk actually does.

  • I'm not sure the trade-off of not getting a notification on the regular boxes is worth survivors becoming oblivious for a few seconds after opening a chest, which would take longer to do.

  • "hard to know"

There's a visual cue with the cone getting smaller and smaller, then flashing when you blind successfully, a burning sound whenever you aim correctly and the killer is in the process of getting blinded and a sound cue when you successfully blind them.

You have the tools, use them.

This post speaks volumes in terms of inexperience, you should really look that stuff up, my dude.

Iron Will wasn't nerfed, you not making sounds when crawling around was unintentional, that one is exclusive to No Mither.

Speed advantage in killers doesn't mean anything with how the majority of maps are designed and given how often killers slow down for their actions. Survivors have the advantage here as evidenced by experienced survivors being able to loop killers for multiple gens, always staying just out of reach of their weapon.

Auto-aim isn't a thing in Dbd and never was, learn the difference between auo-aim, aim-assist and aim-dressing. Dbd only uses the last one of those and it doesn't help getting hits.

Windows are an open space. If you can vault through it, then killers can reach through it.

Killers can't hit across pallets, that's either a latency issue or you trading hits and stuns.

Your last sentence also just speaks of someone who's spiteful and I don't sympathize with those.

    1. No teachables need to go. Just because a perk isn't meta (looking at Aven, here), doesn't mean there aren't people who find them useful and fun.
    2. ditto
    3. Styptic agent as I don't like cheap second chances.
    4. Iridescent head, cause that add-on only causes grievances.
    5. None, but Haddonfield needed a rework yesterday rather than tomorrow
    6. None, I want the moonlight offerings back.
    7. Decisive strike, same reasoning as styptic agent
    8. NOED, same reasoning as DS and styptic agent, despite us being able to cleanse it before it activates.

I mean that would kind of make the perk useless, I love Decisive striking killers at the gates and they lose their mind.

It's precisely because of people like yourself who take pleasure in being toxic toward other players with current DS why the perk receives the nerf.

Sorry, but what you're doing is just despicable.

  • As someone else has already pointed out, it's not the add-on that makes or breaks Oni, but rather how often he can obtain his power, which relies on survivors not being thoughtless and feeding him unnecessarily.

An add-on shouldn't be nerfed due to survivors playing poorly.

I’m devotion 10 on ps4 and have a pc account too, which is only lvl 25, so I would like to think that I know a bit about this game but maybe I’m wrong and am dumb or just bad.

    • If I play Legion and use his power, am I supposed to be faster than survivors or it’s same run speed?
    • If I play Bubba and use chainsaw, am I faster or same speed?
    • If I’m max bloodlust am I faster or the same speed?
    • If I hook a survivor twice in a match, how can that survivor at the end have exactly 32000 bp, how much I know, again, maybe I’m dumb and bad but when you get hooked once you can’t have max escape and not to mention getting hooked twice?
    • If a survivor uses sprint burst, can that same survivor use dead hard after 10 sec or is he supposed to be exhausted for 40 sec?
    • If a survivor is running 90 degrees into a window, is he supposed to fast vault, middle vault or slow vault?
    • If I chase a survivor at the shack and he turns corners 6 ft away from me and I lose line of sight for a blink of an eye, how can that survivor be other side of shack?
    • If I kill 4 survivors with 4 gens left and they all have less than 14k how can those survivors stay rank 1 and not depip? When I do 4 gens and 2 safe unhooks I often depip as rank 1 if I don’t escape and sometimes just black pip with escape.

Am I missing something and all these things I wrote are normal or am I just dumb and after so many hours don’t know this game. When I get chased by legion in his power he’s way faster than me and same goes for bubba but when I use those 2 killers there are survivors I can’t catch because they’re the same speed as me, so when I’m out of power I can’t even get close. This is just vs pc players.

    • Legion's frenzy is faster than survivors: 5.2m/s vs. 4m/s
    • Bubba's chainsaw sweep accelerates him to a maximum speed of 5.29m/s over his default 4.6m/s
    • There are no bloodpoints penalties for getting hooked or bonuses for not getting hooked, so there is no reason for not getting the full points in that category. Maybe you're confusing this with emblems.
    • Dead Hard is an exhaustion perk as well, so no, they can't use it while exhausted from Sprint Burst.
    • Assuming you mean running alongside a wall, then vaulting, that will at most be a medium vault.
    • Could have dead-harded while you lost sight. The perk does give quite some distance.
    • It's possible to get enough emblems even with few bloodpoints. Again: bloodpoints and emblems are independent things.
