  • I wouldn't say that if a common complaint of the current HUD is that it looks like it's a mobile game.

Oh FFS does DBD mobile have loot boxes? Are you ######### with me?

    What is this:

Oh I'm sorry "sUpeR mYsTeRy bOxEs"

It's a "free" mobile game, of course it has those.

I know that. Because he has a small character model but still has the range of say Trapper some hits will seem weird. Take a joke.

    Nope :P

  • Freddy has the same lunge as literally every other killer.

"When two lockers are next to each other, two survivor can wait in the locker and safe the other survivor in time when he gets grabbed. No risk involved." "So two survivor can waste enough time to lose every gen or are invincible. When you ignore them, they start doing gens and with sprintboost or when they are healthy they reach almost every time a locker."

i was assuming this happened to you because it's very specific.

    it's a bhvr solution.

I'm not the original poster who opened this thread. THAT is not my example.

  • True, but Leatherface doesn't have one for entirely different reasons, being a stripped chapter and all.

it's ridiculous but this is literally how the game is designed.

don't want to get blinded? lightborn. don't want to get tunneled? ds. etc etc etc.

in your example you gave it seems like you played into what the survivors were doing instead of leaving to patrol gens...kinda ur own fault.

Not sure where you see me giving an example, because I didn't.

I remarked that dedicating a perk slot to counter a very rare tech that might occur once in several hundred games is a non-solution.

People may wanna stick around so they can give them a hit so they can get bloodpoints.

They can do that just fine without the trigger point being highlighted.

Lightborn is not only useful for that tech. Also, unlike survivors, killers can see what they are facing in the lobby and prepare for that.

Killers have too much information already and ways to counter stuff, yet here they are, complaining about how they can't counter everything by default. Perks exist for a reason, use them.

What about flashlights that are found in-game and could lead to this tech? Whoops, now you didn't equip Lightborn, what a shame.

  • Since it's not actually a thing anymore (Nurse used to have auto-aim before her first rework) and what we currently have is not auto-aim, but aim-dressing, to make the animations line up, no.

  • I've never once run it in the 4.5 years I've played this game with the exception of the one trial it took me to get Adept Laurie, and even then I didn't activate it. I find it the most despicable perk there is in the game and refuse to use it. I'm all for nerfing it.

Nevermind that it's basically 60 seconds of complete immunity at this point and activates even when the killer clearly wasn't tunnelling.

I understand that, but even with remodeling maps instead of new maps for upcoming original chapters, why would they skip over a licensed map, which introduces the realm from a licensed world?

Why wouldn't they? We have the precedent of Ghost Face, who doesn't have his own map.

  • It's easy: patches are on Tuesday, tomes on Wednesdays.

Always go by the dev's timezone (Eastern Time), since that is what the devs use when releasing stuff, not whatever local time you have.

  • @MrsPuddles said:

So I know we’re getting a new Tome today, but is the new UI, character animations and Clown update also coming today?

We're not getting a new Tome today, that'll be tomorrow.

Tuesdays are for patches, Wednesdays for tomes.

  • @mrpieseller said:

Apparently we arent getting a new map with the new chapter, which makes me think it will be original. But idk

That argument doesn't make much sense, original killers always came with maps in the past. The sole reason they didn't recently is because the devs are reworking the old maps still. As long as they're doing that, we're not gonna get new maps.

  • There is always a visible seam in the exit gate area and most gates have a some structure to the left and right.

  • Indirectly it is, yes.

The killer's objective is to progress survivors through the hook stages to an eventual sacrifice. Tunnelling can help accomplish that, since it gets rid of one survivor much sooner as hooking everyone sequentially ever can. Not to mention the quicker a killer can reduce the number of survivors in a game, the more the scale tips in their favour for the remainder.

From that POV, tunnelling makes sense as a killer strategy to increase their chances of winning the trial.

  • @Gay_Police_Dept said:

    Lightborn

Because it totally makes sense equipping a perk for every single trial on the off chance a very rare tech might be used against you. /s

  • I don't see any need to tone her down, since I'm convinced any attempt would completely break her at this point.

What she needs are fixes and clean-ups to her buggy power. She's a killer that rewards being skilled with her with the ability to control the game, something unfortunately very few other killers do.

A killer being strong doesn't automatically justify nerfing them, that's a seriously flawed argument.

  • Definitely blue, for our colour-blind friends, but otherwise an excellent idea.

  • This question has an issue, namely that survivors are never associated with a realm, since the entity creates realms based on the killer's location they were at when they were taken, not the survivor's. Yes, they may coincide with one another in some cases, but that's all there is to it.

  • @CryptFriend said:

The point is you're not supposed to chase them again, or avoid going after them in the first place if you think they have it!

I suppose you could also slug and eat the unbreaking and/or/soul guard (either forcing them to deactivate the perk or give away information for later respectively) if you really want to have them be downed.

There's not much point in sitting there waiting for them--even if someone comes to pick them up, you know about where they are (or exactly if you're a psychopath who uses Deerstalker) and while healing there's one less person working on the objectives!

DS is intended as an anti-tunneling perk.

All it really does is guarantee the user's death, though.

"You're not supposed to chase them again."

And here we have the very core issue of current DS: you're expected to just let them go for successfully landing a skill check. Sorry, but that is pure entitlement. It's the killer's objective to kill survivors, not to let them go, because they got stunned.

And as you continue to point out: slugging them isn't a great idea either.

If DS is truly an anti-tunnel perk, then it has no business being active in circumstances when you clearly are not being tunnelled, which the incoming change addresses.

Not at all. I think if a killer is lunging and the survivor gets through the window the lunge attack should not go through the window at all and bounce off it. Lunges shouldn't go through a window is what I was getting at. A killer should make the decision of chancing a lunge and hit them while vaulting through the window or run up and m1 them instead to hit someone on the other side of the window if they're still close enough.

Since killers basically Dead Hard when lunging, not a single sane killer player would instead opt to walk up to the window and try a quick attack, since that would take longer and the survivor would be long past the window.

Your suggestion makes no practical sense in DbD.

And just to reiterate: windows are open space and one can reach through them. That's not an abstract concept.

This will be the only comment i will respond too.

and i can clearly say i never read such a bs comment for a long time. ds stuns you for 5 seconds. ruin, undying waste time for atleast 2 minutes.

dude these whinings about ds ... yeah ds isnt in a good state but saying DS is carrying people more then ruin, undying? LOL

so why do people use that combo so much then when its so useless?

DS does much more than just stun for 5 seconds, it completely robs the killer of the momentum they built up to that point. Instead of carrying the freshly downed survivor to a hook, hooking them, then going after the next target, thus keeping two survivors away from gens that way, they now have to chase the survivor for what is essentially a third health state, in addition to losing the time it took them to pick the survivor up, get stunned, and catch back up. Meanwhile, the other survivors can continue to progress the objective unbothered thanks to the killer still being occupied with that same survivor.

If you call that bs, then I question your understanding of the game mechanics.

Doesn't ruin literally unrepair a generator, regardless of its ability to be removed?

Technically yes, but it takes a long time. If it were a DS equivalent, it would do so instantly.

  • Ruin has a deactivation condition.

PGTW has a timer that doesn't allow for much dawdling.

Tinkerer is not much of a threat if you're observant of your surroundings.

None of these are comparable to current DS, since there's no killer perk that unrepairs a generator (which would be the equivalent).

Conversely, it can be easily said that the game will be better off without Freddy and Spirits players, or killers that use NOED and Ruin to crutch and have a significant advantage. See, it can always be turned around.

That's quite a whataboutism reply, but I'll humour it.

You may think this could be easily said, but I disagree on the basis that the sole reason these survivors will quit playing is because they lose the ability to abuse DS as a 60-second-immunity perk regardless of whether they're actually being tunnelled or not.

I don't see such an aspect with either Freddy or Spirit. Neither killer has a comparable mechanic that would allow them to ignore the progress survivors have made towards gen repairs and reset it back to zero, which would be the actual equivalent. Trying to compare DS to Ruin or even NOED is hilariously ridiculous. Guess what those two perks have that DS won't have until 4.6.0? Deactivation conditions. Talk about measuring with two different measuring sticks here.

And even if you turn it around, it changes nothing about my statement. People who take pleasure in the misery of others are never healthy for any game and them quitting will inevitably lead to a healthier game.

When their argument involves the word "Entitled" after I explained that it does need a change, just not a killer main forum made change. I hate the word entitled on this as everyone is just so pre judgemental.

It's a powerful perk that needs balancing for sure. But why not take time in making the likes of Pharmacy or Deja Vu better. So many perks forgotten and unused and they're nerfing the most used down to the same forgotten state. If this nerf goes through, so many people are not gonna play, and if you think getting "New player base" is a good when they're all just gonna get tunneled and camped by Undying Ruin, Infectious, NOED (Which is free), then it's kinda sad to think that's a gg. 🙄

Not sure what point you're trying to make with this. Of course it would be nice for "weaker" perks to get buffed, but that's not the point of this discussion.

And yes, I do believe that a big problem of the DS malarky is the entitlement its users have about getting to use it in a trial.

    I know the difference.

I am talking about chapter 19. 18 was 3 months ago, no?

2 months. That would still leave at least 4 weeks for Chapter 19 to arrive under normal circumstances. However, the devs pushed the time schedule back two weeks, so it'll actually be at least 6 weeks still.

  • @golubushka08 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1926258#Comment_1926258

And still you will wait an eternity in the lobby as a killer. Because many many many many many many many many many survivors will stop playing.

As I said, I wouldn't want to play with such survivors in the first place be that as having them as my opponents or my team mates depending on the role I choose.

I don't mind trading in queue time for a healthier game. Take all the pleasure you want in the "misery" of others, but neither you nor any other survivor player quitting over something so banal will be missed.

  • You seem to confuse Chapters and Mid-Chapters.

4.5.0, which is set to release tomorrow, is a Mid-Chapter. Chapter 19 (4.6.0) won't come for another couple of weeks.

  • @golubushka08 said:

Killers will now have to wait an eternity in the lobby! I'm pleased!

This is disconcerting, but for a different reason.

You're claiming that there are enough survivors willing to quit the game over a nerf that solely impacts the abusive side of DS (but leaves it intact for its intended use as an anti-tunnel perk), that it'll impact killer queues.

Honestly, I think the game will be better off without such players.

  • @PodgeNotRodge said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/224187/will-the-ds-and-ooo-nerfs-kill-this-game

Honestly, the text for the "New" DS was written by killers. I've seen that idea posted on the forums several times. It is a bad fix to what is a lethal perk. It doesnt need a nerf persay but a change as it is abusable. Now if a survivor runs DS, they can do nothing for 1 minute if they want to use it. Which means now they'll most likely try run into you or jump in a locker. They cant do any interactions bar maybe snap out of it or mend. So they are useless as a team member for 1 minute if play. Which honestly gives the killer the better benefit of knowing that. NOT A GOOD IDEA.

Yeah theres dogshit killer combos that still need reworks I.e Bubba chain sprint beats Sprint Burst for some reason. Not to mention unless you're by a loop and not the abundance of dead zones now, you're going down by something out of your control. Infectious Sloppy on Oni, Spirit, Billy. Undying and Ruin. Legion with Thanat, Dying Light, Blood Echo, Sloppy, Broken pin, Blindness Pin. Too many to list. Heck, even had a Demo yesterday with Franklin's and he put portals on the items so we had to cleanse portal before we're allowed to pickup the item. And seeing as how he gets notified, good luck trying.

Even OoO change wasnt great. It was generally used for team play. Now it feels more solo. Which is ok but with that change, there are better aura readers like Better Together where everyone can see the gen a teamate is working on and see killer for 10 seconds when complete.

The devs didnt create this perk change ideas. They just copy and pasted the forum idea. Which is hilarious and lazy. Yes these among many perks need some changes, but not these dogshit changes.

I think your issue is that you feel you're somehow entitled to get to use the perk at all cost.

DS is an anti-tunnel perk. If you aren't getting tunnelled, then it shouldn't activate. It's literally that simple.

People need to realise that not all perks are meant to be used in every trial, there are several that only activate in dire circumstances and help giving you a second wind if you need one, and DS will be one of those, which is fine. It'll be like burning a White Ward, because you're afraid of losing a good item and then surviving with it regardless.

  • @ILoveDemo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1925319#Comment_1925319

No it's a problem for the game health. If you can't see it then you should Play survivor, just a littel bit.

I play survivor for about 75% of my games, so I would consider myself a survivor main. The DS change changes NOTHING about how the perk works at its core. All it does is disallow cocky survivors from finishing objectives in the killer's face and still get away with being downed for 60 seconds, which is a long time in this game.

I see no issue with the DS nerf and IMO, everyone who's complaining about it just doesn't like that they can't abuse the perk anymore, likely including you. DS is not a perk any good survivor needs.

I'm new to the forum, but not to the game, having played it since 2016. I have never once run DS other than to get Adept Laurie, and even then I didn't actually use it as I managed to escape the trial without getting downed. Why did I never once use DS in all that time I've played the game? Because I still consider it an awful, cheap, free escape perk. I refused to ever run it back in 2016 and will continue to do so likely for ever, since I don't see this perk ever losing it's cheap get-ouf-of-jail-for-free aspect.

If you feel that this nerf will cause survivors to quit, then I say we'll be better off without those players in the long run.

  • Sorry, but we can't ignore facts just because you don't want to hear them, there is no story to these survivors other than them being Alpha versions of Meg, Jake and Claudette (yes, Meg and Claudette switched race by release).

If anything, their story is that character design has a tendency to change radically during early development stages of a game.

Thats the thing there are no more perks showing up and im at level 50 and boil over still hasnt shown up. like i own every available perk i can get except that one

That's a bug then, you should probably post in the corresponding sub-forum then.

What you could possibly try is unlocking the Perk from the character in an attempt to fix it.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

They nerfed it more than I ever thought they would. It is enough, stop asking for more. If they take a protection hit, you can slug them. If they have borrowed time, then they have to mend and heal.

In what way is that more?

All those deactivation conditions could have and should have been expected with a DS nerf, since it always remaining active for 60 seconds, regardless of whether you actually get tunnelled or are happily doing objectives, is a major issue with the current perk. I am not the least bit surprised about them. If anything, I'm surprised they didn't add entering a locker as well.

Also, as a side note here. Saying that DS will be nerfed enough already and people shouldn't ask for more anymore is not an argument, considering people still ask for BBQ nerfs these days.

  • All Killers have the same default lunge range, that has been a known fact for years now.

The illusion of him having a longer range than he should have is twofold: short character model and small weapon model.

Since shorter killers have the same lunge range as the taller ones like Trapper, Wraith, Billy, etc. the devs usually mitigate it by giving them a larger or elongated weapon (why do you think Hag has that humongous claw?) and that is why for most of the shorter killers, it looks fine.

However, the problem we have with Freddy is that by design, he can't have a random large weapon, since it has to be his glove to be accurate to the franchise. This creates a visual disconnect between the size of his weapon and the reach he has with it. If you look at still frames of him lunging, you'll see his fingers elongating to absurd lengths so that the blades can visually reach the Survivor model.

I really suggest you research these things properly before you demand baseless nerfs. Nothing about this is new knowledge.

  • @Iosefka said:

Ofc killer main forum gonna agree with that change. DS timer should be infinite in chase or make it like 240 seconds. Thats all. IDC about OoO because i am solo player

You haven't given any compelling reason for why anyone should take your side on this, so obviously no one will agree with you. That's the nature of any forum and has nothing to do with bias.

If you want people to agree with you, you need a compelling and well-reasoned argument for your case. Debate 101.

  • If you are actually being tunnelled, you couldn't do any of those things either way. If you can, you aren't actually being tunnelled and DS shouldn't be active anymore.

  • Whether a perk appears in someone's bloodweb is subject to RNG.

  • There's a key difference between Wraith and Nurse's power and Spirit's and it has nothing to do with Lightburn being an "old mechanic the devs forgot about".

If you read Spirit's power description on the wiki, there's a piece of lore at the very top that explains it: she enters the Ethereal Plane during a phase walk.

If you look at the sub-realm-articles on the wiki, it explains how the Ethereal Plane is different from the Spirit World, which explains why Spirit isn't affected by Lightburn, since she doesn't interact with the Spirit World.

It's a common misconception amongst the community, since few people read the lore bit and just assume something along the lines of "Spirit must interact with the Spirit World, since they share the name".

Lore questions are often answered if you dig a bit deeper. The wiki has articles about most of this stuff.
