  • this is just..."win 2 matches as killer without bothering about the last survivor getting the hatch". why does it bother you?

  • nothing about what you did is toxic

I had a fairly detailed idea for a hunting dog for Trapper. I'll repost it here.

The dog would have two modes: search and hunt. This would be toggled with the secondary power button, causing the Trapper to whistle and wave towards himself or point in the air, respectively. The dogs default state is search.

    Search mode: "C'mere boy/girl!"

    Speed: 110%

The dog stays by the Trapper, within 16 meters. If they detect an injured survivor within 8 meters of the Trapper, they will stop moving, growling, bristling, and facing the survivor until the Trapper enters a chase or the survivor leaves the radius.

In this mode, the dog will occasionally go and bring the Trapper bear traps if the Trapper is missing on of the two bear traps he starts with by default if any traps are within 32 meters of the Trapper. They will carry them in their mouth until the Trapper presses the secondary power button, causing him to pet his doggo and take the trap.

While in search mode, the dog's aura is revealed to the Trapper.

    Hunt mode: "Get em', boy/girl!"

    Speed: 120%

Whenever a survivor is hooked or caught in a trap, gain a token.

If the dog isn't holding a bear trap, the Trapper can burn a token to toggle hunt mode.

In this mode, the dog begins searching for survivors. They have their own terror radius and red stain, half the size of the Trapper's by default. It is not aware of upright pallets, but it is aware of set traps, and will avoid them when possible.

Whenever it sees a survivor within 40 meters, or smells them (survivor within 8 meters), it will howl (same indicator as a scream), and then aggro onto them. It will then chase the survivor until the survivor escapes the chase, the dog detects another survivor with higher priority (discussed in a bit), or they catch the survivor they're chasing.

In the event that they catch a survivor, the dog will grab them, biting their hand. While grabbed, the survivor can't move and can be grabbed by the Trapper. After six seconds, the survivor must complete three very hard skillchecks in rapid succession to escape the dog's grasp. If the survivor succeeds on both checks, they free themselves and stun the dog for three seconds. On a great success, the survivor will throw the dog off of them, causing the dog to run back to the Trapper and enter search mode. If the survivors fail either of the skillchecks, they are injured for one healthstate, and gain the Dog's Bite bebuff.

The dog will attempt to herd survivors into any set bear traps, or into the Trapper's line of sight.

During the endgame collapse, the dog moves 5% faster.

    Dog's Bite:

While afflicted with Dog's Bite, good success zones on skillchecks are reduced by 20%, and they heal, repair generators, and cleanse totems 5% slower. Whenever the dog smells the afflicted survivor while in search mode, the survivor is revealed by killer instinct.

If a survivor is afflicted with Dog's Bite, their priority is reduced by 5.

    Priority:

Each survivor has their own priority, which determines who is the most valuable target for the dog while they are hunting.

    Positive priority:

    • In a chase: + 3
    • Holding a key: + 1
    • Injured: + 1
    • Closest survivor: + 2
    • In a trap currently: + 2
    • In a trap less than 15 seconds ago: + 1
    • Healing another survivor: + 2
    • Working on a generator: + 1
    • Holding open the gates: + 3
    • Negative status effect (other than Dog's Bite): + 1
    • Unhooked another survivor: +1 per survivor
    • Dead on hook: + 2

    Negative priority:

    • Dog's Bite: - 5
    • Freed themselves from the dog less than 30 seconds ago: - 2
    • Kobed less than 30 seconds ago: - 5
    • Recovered from the dying state less than 15 seconds ago: -3
    • On their second hook state: -1

This has some slight edits from the original, but that's a given due to the fact that it was my first post on the forum.

if you haven't recently... you should just make a new discussion with this idea...

but...you're expecting a bit much from the ai.

"The dog will attempt to herd survivors into any set bear traps, or into the Trapper's line of sight."

    this is not simple

Give him rope to tie himself to Beartraps that he can use to shot put himself across the map, 'cause entity physics. Or just let 'im huck Beartraps at Survivors like the maw of an angry badger. Hell, he's a trapper, let him actually chuck badgers at Survivors. ;)

On a more serious note, given AI, it's not impossible to implement some kind of creature companion to the Trapper.

I don't want that... unless it's 100% invincible to survivors.

they better not be able to hurt my dog!

I think there could be another one that's more fitting. The generic theme i think is perfect on pig and leatherface but on other killers it's just the generic chase theme.

It was an absolute useless test and any results are flawed. You cant just turn on MMR and expect good results when everyone is already at a boosted MMR. To get any valid results they either need to make a competitive queue with separate MMR or completely wipe everyone's MMR so that everyone starts at a base, and they need to run it for at least a few weeks minimum.

they reset everyone mmr for this test. only using mmr from about 3 weeks before.

Then... I'll farm and keep doing all my P3. (The curse of coming to the game four years after its release and buying a lot of DLC at once and being like, let's do ALL THE P3 AT ONCE.)

But I think I'll have to prioritize a P3... Probably Jill.

I only started prestiging after I unlocked all the perks. otherwise I would need to keep coming back to old characters to unlock the stuff from X character.

doing it once every 3 months for the new dlc is more manageable

If everyone who plays Hillbilly started getting 4ks due to facing only new players. Wouldn't that increase the killrate of existing Billys without the need for more players?

also, people would hear the news and start playing billy. also increasing the amount of players

Just an observation, really. I wonder if people would have any issues with Freddy if he were originally released in the same state that he's in today.

I have no dog in the fight, I wasn't here for old Freddy. Just kind of wondering aloud.

That anniversary stream was for the most part useless. Sure, they announced a handful of cool things on stream. But what is the point of announcing those things if you can't show even small examples of what you're announcing?

That mori change? We hardly know how it'll work other than the fact that it'll now be a natural part if the trial.

The boon totems? They didn't say anything beyond the fact that it'll be the same as a hex totem but for survivors.

The geography change? Essentially nothing was said other than it'll make maps less flat.

They had nothing to show for these announcements. With the only announcement worth any value being what they showed for the resident evil chapter and the anniversary event.

because they were annoucing what they had planned to the year. until the next anniversary.

so they say "we are trying to tie moris to some in-game stuff" it's for us to know that they aren't just making a new killer for next chapter or something like that

  • to me it's running normally. it's something on your end

  • did you really just ignore clown? XD

  • by tonight... I plan on having 1m bps + 1.135m in the archives + 90k from rituals + whatever ritual I get later today + 2 things on the shrine if I decide to buy them

    so between 2.225 and 2.285 million with a 300k buy-in

  • billy had an issue this last sbmm test (apparently caused by captalizing a letter that shouldn't have been, or the other way around)

so billy would always have the new player sbmm rank.

It's not quite that simple as adding clocks like they are now still wastes lots of time so it would still be a huge slowdown as its something that needs to be done.

Come across multiple survivors you effectively slowed the game down by an large amount due to rng or making them wake up.

That would be a similar mechanic to the pig but you can chose when to do it if it's not active, it doesn't slow down the actions in the same way and she still has to chase someone and down them before that can take effect.

Always take into consideration when buying any dlc that these can and do change for the sake of the game itself.

I never said it was against whatever the contract says...

just that it's an extremely awful thing to do.

"See? the contract says I can be a total dipshit"

you are still a dipshit for doing it.

killers get screwed by rng too... that's how this game works

edit - oh hey... I found a curse that isn't autocensored... neat

  • Becaus people don't understand how SBMM works...

they think the system will keep matching you higher and higher until you need to play at your absolute best the entire match.

failing to realize that, if you just play normal... your sbmm will stay on that level. It will only go higher if they try to play more seriously.

that was a bug. not a decision.

  • MoM: still very hard to actually use. don't think it actually improves it. reducing it to 2 protection hits would be better imo.

Pharmacy: garanteed purple is too much. 2 full heals + best medkit in the game for a single perk slot is too good.

Power struggle: not showing is better. if it shows, people will stop being around you, leaving you to be picked up faster, making the perk dead.

Repressed Alliance: No. you activated it, now you wait the timer.

Saboteur: showing all hooks is pointless. 2 second sabo every 40 sec is too strong.

    Small Game: NO!

    Smash hit: NO!

don't know why you bother adding perks when you don't wanna change them. just skip them.

doesn't this also apply to current legion? what about old legion makes this part special?

The fact that Current Legion cannot down you with their power.

Did old legion not lose their power after a miss?I can see that being an issue.

But I do think losing the full bar of power is too much... maybe half? so they can't just spam it, but still has enough wiggle room.

No, they did not. And no, missing a swing should punish you, because you messed up. It's easier than normal to hit one of his lunges due to the extended range + FOV, too.

same applies to current legion. they might not be as fast, but this interaction is still the same. you greed, they catch up.

Except they cannot down you. Also they cannot use their power whenever they want.

unlike current legion? which can't vault windows?

I don't see what about old legion changes this interaction.

Unlike Current Legion, WHO CANNOT DOWN YOU WITH THEIR POWER. THAT'S the difference here.

who does really? eventually every killer will get you. it's about delaying it as long as you can.

Every killer can be mindgamed. Old Legion could not. You get seen, you die. There is something you can do in a chase against every killer to buy more time. Old Legion can, and will, always down you within the same amount of time.

Is it reducing the timer of deep wounds with each stab? because legion is currently the only killer that can't down people with their power, and I think that's bad.

YES. THIS IS THE EXACT ISSUE AND THE REASON LEGION IS SO FLAWED HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT

I think we can agree that legion getting 3 or 4 hits in the same frenzy is quite rare, so a big reward for a 4th hit is fair.

So basically you'd make Legion an even greater solo stomper while leaving them weak as anything against SWF teams?

No offence, but this is the one of the worst ideas for a Legion change I've heard, second only to "Bring back Old Legion".

would this change make it fun for you?

Not in the slightest. You missed the issues with Legion completely and instead opted to make it even worse to deal with in solo.

    Good job!

GoodBoyKaru... calm down. we are just talking.

I realized the timer thing by the end of my post and just didn't feel like editing it.

No, they did not. And no, missing a swing should punish you, because you messed up.

    ok. now I know.

I agree they should be punished, but I think losing their full power bar is a bit much.

but then I remembered legion would be functioning in a state where they don't need their full power bar to activate feral frenzy. so it's fine it they lose it when they miss. (I wasn't around for old legion, so current legion keeps randomly blending in since they aren't fully separated in my head)

Every killer can be mindgamed. Old Legion could not. You get seen, you die. There is something you can do in a chase against every killer to buy more time. Old Legion can, and will, always down you within the same amount of time.

    ok, I understand this now.

So basically you'd make Legion an even greater solo stomper while leaving them weak as anything against SWF teams?

I don't see how they would be stronger vs solos... I don't know about you, but I rarely get a 3rd hit in the same feral frenzy. except maybe the very beggining of a match if every survivor happened to spawn together or very close.

but they would be weaker against swf. and that would be an issue...

so, what's your suggestion? what's the middle ground between you and someone who wants old legion back?

*I ask, but I think we should change threads if we are gonna continue talking about this.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2269729#Comment_2269729

    Yes, I can.

Old Legion (I'm just going to say Legion for the rest of this post, please know I mean Old Legion) has the current Spirit problem, except while she's at a 10, they've cranked it up to a 30.

There is nothing you can do vs Legion except hope and pray your teammates can do generators. Let's look at the options:

    • Use stealth to never be found

Legion has tracking with Killer Instinct, so all it takes is one slip-up from one member of your team and the plan falls apart at the seams.

    • Use stealth to escape a chase

Deep Wounds would tick down outside of a chase to make this impossible. While it could be possible with the current iteration of DW, as it ticks down when running then moving crouched/walking to escape makes this still impossible- Lucky Break is the only hope you'd have.

    • Perform a juke to make them miss a swing and buy more time to reach another loop

Legion has no cooldown to their attacks, and so can swing when they want.

    • Stun them with a pallet and make distance

Legion respects the pallet and gets a free hit with their power by vaulting (as they can use their power whenever). You greed, they catch up with their power and down you (as they move faster than Modern Legion).

    • Vault a window for distance

Legion vaults right after and gets a hit.

Legion has no counterplay inside of a chase, and the only counterplay outside of a chase is to split up and hold M1, which is both incredibly boring and never happens in solo because nobody seems to know how to repair a generator. The 3 people who do know always seem to 3gen.

Legion should never return to this state, they were unhealthy for the game and releasing a killer like that was the 2nd worst decision BHVR have ever made in regards to DBD.

-Use stealth to never be found

Legion has tracking with Killer Instinct, so all it takes is one slip-up from one member of your team and the plan falls apart at the seams.

-Use stealth to escape a chase

Deep Wounds would tick down outside of a chase to make this impossible. While it could be possible with the current iteration of DW, as it ticks down when running then moving crouched/walking to escape makes this still impossible- Lucky Break is the only hope you'd have.

doesn't this also apply to current legion? what about old legion makes this part special?

-Perform a juke to make them miss a swing and buy more time to reach another loop

did old legion not lose their power after a miss?

I can see that being an issue. But I do think losing the full bar of power is too much... maybe half? so they can't just spam it, but still has enough wiggle room.

same applies to current legion. they might not be as fast, but this interaction is still the same. you greed, they catch up.

    Vault a window for distance

Legion vaults right after and gets a hit.

unlike current legion? which can't vault windows?

I don't see what about old legion changes this interaction.

Legion has no counterplay inside of a chase

who does really? eventually every killer will get you. it's about delaying it as long as you can.

Legion should never return to this state

    I still don't see why.

Is it reducing the timer of deep wounds with each stab? because legion is currently the only killer that can't down people with their power, and I think that's bad.

so, gonna propose 1 change to their power.

-hitting a survivor again with their ability will decrease their power meter by 75% of it's total amount.

-each hit in the same frenzy, will apply deep wounds with a fixed time. (if you hit the same survivor, you replace the timer)

    so, it would be like...

1st hit - dp with regular timer

2nd hit - dp with 80% of regular timer

    3rd hit - dp with 50%

    4th hit - insta down.

I think we can agree that legion getting 3 or 4 hits in the same frenzy is quite rare, so a big reward for a 4th hit is fair.

would this change make it fun for you?

the assets are literally still in the game?

I really see no reason not to put them in use... either as a toggle for freddy, or a new killer...

    @twistedmonkey said:

I feel the main issue with old Freddy was once in the dream world he slowed down everything to a crawl. This had Implications on other things such as slowdown perks or speed up items.

It was also complete rng with his power on if you could get out the dream world as it was dependant on a skill check or finding another survivor. On top of that he gave no feedback to where he was outside the dream world.

It was not exactly engaging gameplay for either side. As Freddy you relied on the slowdown as you were a put to sleep and m1 killer.

For balance sake he had to be changed before they changed toolboxes, prove thyself etc. Somethings that hurt other killers due to being too strong and changes being held back becasue of what one killer can do is never good.

but deleting the character is a bad solution.

it's extremely unfair, specially since people payed money for him.

imagine if they just... added the clocks. now you can easily come out of the dream world and making the trip to the clock is actually worth it.

Put broken glass on it that injure everyone vaulting it. Then make it so the balance team has to play this map every time they play killer. Then board the window up and set it on fire. Then delete what was once my favourite map.

this has such kaiba vibes... love it

    abridged kaiba mostly

  • agreed. that is also an issue that I wish they would revert.

but new legion still functions like old legion, you still run fast and spread damage real quick. They are different, but they are just a neutered version of themselves. and that is bad, but at least they retained their identity.

it is much more severe with freddy. because he's just not the same character anymore.

Community: Father's Campbell Chapel is the most balanced map in the game.

Devs: Yeah...but what if it wasn't?

    people say that?

usually I see people say that about coal tower. but coal tower does lack maurice...

  • would be funny if they did

    Patch 1.9.2

Please tell me I didn't imagine this

No matter the repercussions of the Freddy rework, patch 1.9.2 was the worst decision BHVR ever made

in my defense... I wasn't around for that one... how was this ever a thing?

Freddy was certainly unique, but I feel like people put him on a pedestal for no reason other than nostalgia.

Freddy was the only killer that had to wait before he could even begin to attack a survivor in chase. Even after he put them to sleep he was just a basic M1 killer who could be looped the same as the rest.

pedestal or not. Like you said, he was unique. and now he's gone.

him being strong or weak is not that important.

Imagine if your favourite character got removed from the game. it's bs.

I'll repeat this from my first post.

"even if you despise a character, he is someone's favourite and they should be allowed to continue having their character to play as."

legion came with a few issues...sure... every killer does. and the way legion was handled was also really bad on behaviours part. but at least they remained the same character.

Watching videos back then apparently this chapter was going to kill the game?

    that's literally every chapter

I really, genuinely don't get it.

He was, literally, an M1 killer with a delay. Who makes you hold m1 longer.

I can only rationalize it as nostalgia or just.. vastly different, borderline alien preferences.

    that doesn't matter.

if you want a detailed look into what freddy was or wasn't, someone will be able to help you out. maybe GeneralV, maybe someone else.

the thing is that, that character doesn't exist anymore. and that is not ok. Was he weak? strong? doesn't matter...you can't play him anymore.

instead of fixing his issues they just replaced him. and that's a terrible design choice.

Ah, it is always nice to see love for my dear Old Freddy.

The decision to completely change Freddy was indeed one of the worst decisions BVHR has ever made, second only to Patch 1.9.2 as @GoodBoyKaru mentioned. It truly was extremely unfair to Old Freddy main, such as myself, and this comes from someone who also played New Freddy.

A very simple and easy solution would be to add a "toggle" option, allowing us to choose between New Freddy and Old Freddy (on-release version, please). This, which is a very simple fix, is taking way too long to be implemented.

BVHR must have seen the feedback and backlash regarding Freddy's current power and recent nerf. They must have seen the threads and polls asking for Old Freddy. Why nothing was done, or at least said, is beyond me.

We deserve our killer back and it is about time we get him. I say it proudly, and I always will:

    #GiveUsBackOldFreddy

Give our killer another chance. Give us another chance to be a nightmare.

    I miss him...

It not like I played him a lot or anything like that. He was just fun. he was in that pool of characters that I would willingly pick without a daily or something like that.

    @Pulsar said:

    Old Freddy wasn't good.

He was annoying to play as and to play against.

    He was Legion before Legion.

good or bad is not important. which is why I never bring it up. (or at least I'm pretty sure I didn't)

the point is, you can't play him anymore. and that is the worst thing you can do to a character and their playerbase.

I enjoyed playing as and against freddy. so can we settle this as a matter of opinion and move on? It's not like people don't complain that new freddy isn't annoying or boring to go against.

Legion was also fine. the issue is that deep wounds was exploitable. if deep wounds worked back then just like it does now, there would be no issue. (but let's not focus on legion here)

    @QwQw said:

    Indeed.

This why I think reworks to killers will never be a good idea. Buffs or nerfs are fine, but completely deleting the character isn't,

I miss my old main. #GiveUsBackOldFreddy

like I said... bubbas rework was very good. so I think it can be done well. but you gotta maintain the characters essence intact.

Well hate to break it to ya, but Sony's Dogsh!t tos says no "bullying" in it. And if it makes it any better (it really doesnt) it was my 2nd ban for cursing. The first one was deserved I can tell you that, but my second one i dont remember, and the last two were for cursing. In total I had 4 bans, 3days 1week 1month and lastly perma... this is definitely the equivalent of going to jail for life for running a red light twice... :/

Im over it now, kinda, but im just gonna use my new account while working from scratch turning my 3 years of experience compacted into half a year. im 2 months in. Ive already reached my ranks back, I got at least 5 killer perks that i needed. And 2 survivor perks. Im semi ok with what I have. And still gaining. So its not like I have nothing. The anniversary is when I buy back all my killers.

you really should have stopped at the 3rd ban.

if you keep breaking traffic laws, they will remove your license...

The prior version of the achievements merely required a 4k. I cant imagine it would be too difficult to revert to that...

that's because merciless killer used to mean getting a 4k.

  • changing the description (and criteria) for an achievement is very hard on console. (unless it's literally impossible)

either the pip system changes, or it stays like it is.

  • you don't get perma banned for calling someone [BAD WORD] once.
