If it is not earth, its a least walking distance, because thats the way demo comes and goes. Xenomorph would have to walk a very long way. Took Ripley 57 Years to go back.
Aliens have been on earth several times...

Man I love when a bunch of kids with no families to be responsible for, no experience running a big project and no experience scheduling (outside of retail) come around to tell everyone how it should be, lol.
Seriously.
1. Split shifts. Clearly some form of that already happens for actual emergencies (like say, the servers being down) having half your dev team spend 4 days working alone is a recipe for horrible team communication, and at best will only massively slow down development cycles. At worst you end up with 2 teams who aren't talking doing different things to "fix" the game, some of which will break what the other is doing.
Split schedules work for retail, support and anywhere else that customers have to be dealt with without making any real changes to the product. When you are building or maintaining a complex system, you need team communication far more than you do 7 day availability.
2. Good luck getting an adult with kids to agree to sacrifice every weekend for that. Sure when you're 20 something and your biggest commitment is the weekly club night, it's no big. When you're 40 and looking at giving up the only 2 days you have to spend time with your family and do things together? Entirely different story.
3. You know why you want to have the decision to kill switch be handled by higher ups? Because if your support staff can do it, they'll end up kill switching whatever they hear a complaint about, even if that complaint isn't valid, true, etc just to finish the support ticket.
Seriously, look what happened when they gave wow support the ability to give items to players. For the whole 2 months it was active you could just open a ticket in a dungeon, swear you saw a specific piece of loot but it got bugged, and voila, it's in your mailbox. That ######### was abused so badly that had those items cost blizzard even a penny each, the company would have gone bankrupt.
4. The ooo bug really isn't an emergency. At worst it's currently giving people the same info they would have with a good swf. It's annoying, but nothing so bad that fixing it can't wait until Monday. If it wasn't for streamers literally walking their viewers through exploiting it, you likely wouldn't have even noticed.
Nurse? I think by now it's safe to say the last thing you want to do is work on nurse in haste. Also, since she's been brought back, there have been so many people complaining that they have to face her, that I wouldn't at all be surprised to find they are also submitting false bug reports just to try and get her kill switched again. That's not to say she's working perfectly, but her current bugs will take time to suss out fully if we want them fixed correctly.
5. Lastly, it's been 6 years. Can we please stop pretending that things they've been doing as a company since before the game was even made are suddenly"killing the game" now? For one, the reports of DbD's demise are greatly exaggerated without a ton of real evidence. (Oh wow, there was a massive population spike on steam when it went on sale and released Resident Evil characters? It's almost like RE is a massively popular franchise that got people to take a look or something) and for two, if there is a sudden population drop, it's more likely to be due to a recent change rather than a policy that has been in place the entire life of the game.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. If you read to the end go ahead and tell me your favorite color, and why it's purple.
Your comment would sound a lot better if you didn't start by saying everyone that disagrees with you is a "kid with no families to be responsible for, no experience running a big project and no experience scheduling"
Ad hominem's just make your arguments as a whole weaker.
also it's green. purple is like 2nd or 3rd

I believe it only targets a planet at once since it was never stated otherwise. Sorry, I'm not that familiar with The Alien franchise, only the first movie, if it came down to earth I wouldn't see a problem, I just don't want anything off-earth, but who knows? Maybe seeing the chapter being implemented would change my mind.
it was never stated the entity could get people from multiple realities/dimensions, until it did.
the reason we don't see many alien killers, is because the horror movies this game is based on, didn't really use aliens all that much.
with Alien and predator being the exceptions. other than that, mostly folklore and "regular" humans.

Not on a break no, but we do work Mondays to Fridays and have weekends off...like most companies do.
Work/Life balance is something that Behaviour Interactive take very seriously.
As this is probably coming from discussions around the killswitch, it would need more than a skeleton crew to make that decision as it's more of a Lead decision - it's pretty rare for things to come up on a weekend and most of our work is done during our working week. It is unfortunate that all this came to light on a weekend.
then why not have a skeleton crew with someone that has said decision power on killswitching something?
the weekends are when most people play the game, and when faster responses would be more needed. I really don't understand why everyone has to work mon-fri and no one works during the weekend.

It never gave any indication towards it, the the observer's entries all characters were humans or creatures found in earth.
like the alien? it came to earth in several different stories. including alien vs. predator.
also, there's no reason to think the entity would be limited to just earth. This all powerful entity capable of joining people from everywhere in time, from diferent dimensions even. And put then all in a dimension created by itself. Yet limited to picking people from just 1 random planet?
that's like saying that someone who lifts weight in the USA can't do the same in Africa, because you only ever see them do it in the USA...

It's community is actually horrid.
It's basically geared towards kids, or at least people younger than me.
I'm sure someone else could give you a better breakdown, but I'm really tired.
and then he left the franchise. the guy who donated millions of dollar to places that help these same minorities.
debatable, it's pretty perfect for what it wanted to be. wether you like what it wanted to be or not, is a different thing.

With cap, I mean both. The million bloodpoint cap and the 8k per category one. So you could earn more than 8k by repairing gens or chasing, healing. Instead of hitting a wall, that prevents you from earning any more points after that.
The category cap is obsolete. It's from a time where you piped based on how many categories you filled to 5k or 8k bloodpoints.
ok, now it makes sense.
rather just remove perk tiers. would reduce the grind MASSIVELY

and then her being haunted by her friends that died.

Nice stuff are you making up.
As I said, if someone wants to have Double BP, they should invest a Perk-Slot. Survivors have to do the same.
And it just shows how killer-sided this Forum is if the idea is "Hey, lets give the side which already gets more BPs even more BPs!". Not even considering that the grind on the Survivor-Side is even worse than on the Killers side since:
- Survivors get less BPs overall
- Survivors have it harder to get specific things out of the Bloodwebs since they have 3 times as many Items
- Survivors have it harder to gain double BPs (if they dont want to throw the game)
- and last but not least: Survivors have more Perks
The grind has to be reduced for everyone. Not just for the side who has it easier already.
true. but going "No, because the other side has less", is a bit less productive than "yes, but also X for the other side to help them out aswell".
but let's be honest, best way to reduce the grind is just removing perk tiers... too many perks...
-
did people really waste 3 pages of this thread arguing on who they should blame instead of agreeing that behaviour needs to do something about it and at the very least add a seizure warning when you start the game?
be better, people.

@Zozzy said:
The problem is they are lumping all survivors into that 50% win rate as a whole. They are essentially forcing killers to lose no matter how skilled they are at the upper tiers so people that struggle to hold m1 on a gen can win 50% of the time.
Then again.. kills = skill so basement bubba away with noed and end game perks.
I remember the red ranks stats being around 50% aswell, so there's that...
but this isn't about what skill is or how the game decides what a win is. it's about what you think the win rate should be
@SeannyD115 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837648#Comment_2837648
That's why they need to acknowledge the skill gap between low and high mmr. The 50% win rate can't be between all ranks, thus why killers like nurse are so low.
As far as kills/ escapes being the only way to move up in mmr. Then should just abandon that and just use pips. This way if you run the killer the whole game but die to like noed you don't go down in mmr
it was around just red ranks aswell (granted, red ranks don't really mean much)
I agree, pips was a better method.
but this isn't about what skill is or how the game decides what a win is. it's about what you think the win rate should be
@dugman said:
The devs are the ones who decide where the balance point should be. Presumably they want he median match results in the 1-3 kill range with an average of 2 so that 0 kills and 4 kills are the exceptions and most games the gates are open and someone gets out. If the game is hitting those marks then its balanced.
Now hypothetically they could have picked other balance points. For instance, they could have gone for most matches being either everybody lives or everybody dies with few in between games. I suspect a lot of killers who complain about ”gen speed” think that’s how the game should work, because in their mind the gates should only be open half the time. In principle you could design a game to work that way, it’s just that’s not how DbD was designed. And ultimately the devs are the ones who get to choose what model that want to shoot for.
They decide where they want it. where it SHOULD be is a completely separate thing.
I never said anything about the game not being balanced, just wondering where that balance point should be.
I suspect a lot of killers who complain about ”gen speed” think that’s how the game should work, because in their mind the gates should only be open half the time.
how would you know what they think or what's in their mind?
pretty sure they can speak for themselves. What I want from you is YOUR opinion. not what you think others opinions are.
In principle you could design a game to work that way, it’s just that’s not how DbD was designed. And ultimately the devs are the ones who get to choose what model that want to shoot for.
in other news, water is wet.
I'm well aware of what win rate they decided to balance the game around. that isn't the point.
-
@Zozzy said:
This is why i don't understand content creators raging at survivors for "causing the 3 gen" It's obvious the killer was playing for the 3 gen from the start but because the random got fed up and completed the free uncontested gen, the streamer blames it all on them for the situation.
because most killers don't plan for a 3 gen. survivors just do a gen, walk to the nearest one and repeat. creating the 3 gen.
-
While this might be an issue every 1 in maybe 100 games...
it really does feel unnecessary... kinda like having a basement...
if you don't plan on camping the basement, it's kinda just a slightly further away hook..

Wait.... people actually prepare if they know what map they're going to? I just say "haven't been to the eyrie if crows in a while...." No matter what side i play, lol
less of, "they prepare if they know where they are going" and more "going there IS the preparations or 90% of it"
Just an honest question. If a survivor complains about something that is OP, they are told to "git gud", but if the reverse happens, "survivors OP". So it takes no skill to play survivor, but also they should "git gud" (skill?), but a killer has every right to complain and being a survivor is just OP? So it is not at all possible for some killers to just suck at the game?
Source: This forum and dbd subreddit.
wrong. the source is you. YOU are the one perceiving it like this. or can you show me a table or something showing everytime "git gud" was used and what kind of player it was?
this is just your perception of the situation, don't treat it as truth.
IMO, this game is very good at showing skill gaps for both sides. Plenty of killers can steamroll even SWFs(E.G. Otzdarva) who I would consider an extremely skilled killer,
No. this is just wrong to say and can't be confirmed either way.
OTZ sometimes steamrolls swfs, and sometimes he can't do anything. that is the premise. but it's flawed. we can't know what is or isn't a swf 99% of the time.
therefore we can't really make a proper judgement.
even if we could tell it is a swf, we can't know if they have comms, if they play together often, or if they even know what they are doing.
this is just a moot point.
wanna make a point about actual swfs? use tournaments. not people playing randoms online.
and plenty of survivors can run a good killers brains out.
same issue. but I do find it interesting you pointed out 1 good killer player but no good survivor player... is one premise harder to believe than the other?
However, the average for both sides are nowhere near the skill ceiling of skilled players.
that is how averages work, yes.
and quite literally all games...
I'm not here to say survivors are OP or that killers are OP. I think some killers/perks have their advantages and some survivor perks have their advantages, but I think removing skill from the killer POV is just ridiculous and completely disingenuous .
again, that is just your perception. and this one is particularly terrible. no one says killer takes no skill (ironically, no one besides survivor mains).
For the record, I think this game suffers massive balance issues from each end that can make either side frustrated. But from what I see on this forum and subreddit is that Killers are always right and immaculate in their thoughts,
then you haven't been reading the forums all that much.
but if a survivor has anything negative to say about their experience...it's "bait, lol".
and if you think this only happens to survivors, you haven't been reading the forums all that much
How about some of you killers just "git good".
how about showing actual examples of killers ignoring actual issues from the survivor side instead of a very silly ad hominum?
Maybe you just suck and are a hypocrite.
maybe you just suck, and can't see from the killer POV. did you even consider that?
It's not confirmation bias.
it is.
The forum and DBD subreddit are MASSIVELY killer leaning to an outrageous extent.
says you... again, just your perception. which is always biased.
The amount of "lol, bad bait" responses when a survivor has a complaint is ridiculous.
yet you showed none...
I'm not saying the reverse NEVER happens, that would be delusional.
no, what you're saying is that it happens substantially mofr for one side than the other. but you show nothing besides your opinion to support it.
But anyone with the ability to read can easily see these forums and subreddit are riddled with killer bias to an unbelievable degree.
but you see, only a true scotsman can read
Like I said, if a survivor has a complaint, it's "git gud" but in the same breath "survivor takes no skill".
I heard the same for killer plenty of times...
I mean which one is it? Why do killers not apply this logic to themselves? It's like they all believe that they are God tier and their skill is never a question.
it's like you think killer players are a single entity. that what one says applies to all of them...
but hey, there has NEVER been survivors who think they are gods and their skill is never a question... right?
Again, I'm not making a claim one way or another about the game being balanced against one side. That's an extremely nuanced debate with many, many many factors. It just seems like on these forums or on reddit, the killer's skill is never in question. It's just weird.
again, you haven1t been reading the forums all that much.
Everyone is entitled to WANT to have the experience they desire when playing a video game. I mean, that's why we all play video games, right? To enjoy ourselves and have fun. There's just a massive bias against survivors here and it's like they're not allowed to have an opinion.
why do you keep repeating that you don't read the forums a lot?
Like here's another example I constantly see on these forums if a survivor mentions camping/tunneling: "The killer can play how they want and they are not responsible for how much fun you have" but in the same breath talk about how DS/BT/UB make them miserable. So only killers are aloud to have any sort of complaints whatsoever?
What about saying "the killer can play how they want" means the survivors can't complain whatsoever?
at worst this would mean they can't complain about camping/tunneling but that isn't even what's happening.
what usually happens is survivors saying the game shouldn't allow killers to do such things, which is usually what brings the "they are not responsible for how much fun you have" argument. which is correct.
the survivor voiced his complaint, he got answers. same happens to killers.
The game is just so ridiculously killer sided that the mere mention of a complaint from a survivor is "bait" and "entitled".
what happened to "I'm not making a claim one way or another about the game being balanced against one side"?
These are just my observations after being on these forums for a while.
glad you recognize that it's just your perception of things. which will forever be a biased thing.
Again, I'm not mentioning that I personally think survivors or killers are OP.
but you did say the game is killer sided...
I just find it aweful that people get berated for expressing their frustration as a survivor as if it's one of the 7 deadly sins.
yes, that is bad. but not a survivor only thing.
It's baffling that out of 10's of thousands of players, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences.
It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum.
What you just said is EXACTLY what my post is addressing. You have it in your mind that you're so unbelievably skilled that it couldn't possibly be anything you're doing, it HAS to be that the game is survivor sided. Never mind the statistics or other people's experiences. None of that matters...no no no no...Your word is law and streamers that get 100+ win streaks(4ks or 3+hatch) are just wrong and obviously pay survivors to throw the game so they can consistently get these wins. Couldn't possibly have ANYTHING to do with their skill, right?
what a big amount of nothing... at least make some sort of point.
you are just insulting someone's intelligence here. or trying to...
replace game experience with forum experience and it would suit you. stop thinking so highly of yourself, like you know all the answers and if people have a different conclusion they obviously didn't consider what you did. because you are so amazing.
grow up!
Surely your comment is being sarcastic. You can't be so dense to completely miss the meaning of my post. It's incredibly ironic how many people are just not reading my post or are just blocking everything out then going on to prove exactly what I said, and get 20+ upvotes for doing so lol.
Meanwhile anyone going against the status quo for killers get no upvotes. Un-freaking-believable how so many of you are missing this.
It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum.
I don't disagree with any of this. And I think this is a conversation for another thread. My main reason for this post was just to point out how unbelievably killer biased and completely illogical and contradictory statements are constantly spewed on these forums. I have nearly 3k hours in this game and have played for years. I have plenty of complaints for both sides, but the mere mention of something from a survivor about a negative experience is met with extreme hostility, condescension and completely irrational beliefs that people couldn't possibly have different opinions/experiences. Hell, I can say with utter certainty that my experience drastically changes from night to night.
it's amazing how much of what you say can be countered by either "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum." or "It's baffling that out of 10's of thousands of players, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences."
you need a mirror.
In an asymmetric game, how is a near 50% win rate not ideal?
many reasons. specially when you consider what the game considers a win.
but counter question, can you even demonstrate that a 50% win rate is ideal on an asymmetric game?
See, why is it believed that killers should win/get 4k-3ks much more often than the survivor escapes.
and this is either a strawman or a missrepresentation of the most common killer argument.
either way, you're arguing against yourself there...
That's already a massive flag for bias about killers.
the strawman/misrepresentation? it's a red flag against arguing with you.
Also, the same can be said about context of killers. I can't tell you how many killers I've made DC just because I won't let them down me or get frustrated with being constantly juked.
seen it happen aswell.
doesn't help your case in any way, shape or form.
I've also experienced several "boosting" killers who are doing a daily with a killer they don't want to play and throw the game and everyone escapes without even being hooked. Do these situations also not skew the stats,
yes. it does. which is why the stats are bad and shouldn't be used to make any point whatsoever.
or again, anything that veers away from the killer status quo on these forums just don't matter? Funny how you gave an example that would inflate killer stats, but completely skip over the fact that the opposite happens.
talking about X is different from ignoring the existance of Y.
don't even try, there isn't a point to be made here. they showed one reason why the stats are flawed, you showed another.
Don't get me wrong buddy. I even said in my op that this game suffers from massive balance issues, but that's not what I was getting out. I think every single person is entitled to their opinion based on their own experiences. I'm not at all saying killers cannot have complaints, but here on these forums survivors cannot.
"I think maybe The Artist base speed should be 110% instead of 115%"
Response:
"Lol, bad bait 2/10" - 20 upvotes

ahem... "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."
Doesn't matter if it's 4 survivors, it's only one game's statistics. Whether you get a snowball 4k because of a DC or due to overly altruistic plays, Or the killer DCs or boosts the lobby resulting in a 4 man escape, they affect the statistics the same because it's for one match. And I certainly don't mean to be rude, but "in your own experience" is another example of bias as if other people can't possibly have different experiences. You're fixing your own personal experience on the larger image to confirm your bias on what you think without only anecdotal evidence and nothing with actual substance. Again, sorry if that sounds rude, but I thought I should point it out since this is what my whole post is about.
2 in a row "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."
The threads do not reflect what you're saying in the slightest.
says you.
I mean, I don't have anything else to say other than go look through the threads, and if you still disagree...well...um...you can lead a horse to water, right?
almost 3 in a row... "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."
I'm sure it's completely impossible for either killers or survivors to claim they play one or the other or both in order to push their agenda by appearing to have a "nuanced" view by pretending to be the opposite side while saying something to benefit the other side.
I'm sure it's completely impossible for someone to claim they participate a lot in the forums in order to push their agenda by appearing to have a "nuanced" view by pretending they have the full picture.
again... get a mirror.
It only works for steam, but people could easily post their stats if they wanted to prove they play both sides. For example, here's mine:
https://dbd-stats.net/profile/76561198024224074
Clearly very survivor heavy(90% solo q) but also hundreds of hours as killer
ignoring the fact this could be literally anyone... what do you think that shows?
is it really that hard to imagine most people would play both roles of a game they own? even if they play one more than the other?
it's like someone owning mario party but only ever playing on 1 board. they are the exception, not the rule.

no remove the speed, the issue is the speed
but then it's useless.

But then there would be no reason to run it, literally every other exhaustion perk would be better
hard disagree

The definition of rework is to change something of the original version. It's not only held to buffing/nerfing something about the perk.
changing something =/= making it something else entirely

That’s not the problem though. Dead hards problem is not the invincibility. It’s the distance. It allows you to extend loops and prolong chases and correct your mistakes with a click of a button and carry you the whole game.
I know. but I think that's fine. removing the invicible frames means the execution needs to be good, you can't just dash into a wall and survive the hit. can't dead hard over traps anymore.
-
that isn't a rework. that's just changing it into another perk.
just remove the invincible frames.

I feel like every bp I use in a character past lvl 50 is a waste if they aren't p3.
therefore I p3.
probably would have every character with all tier 3 perks by now if I didn't p3.
I don't even use the cosmetics, don't like them.
solution, do what you feel better with. there isn't a correct answer
-
this comes from a thing that we as a species do, which is "we remember the bad things a lot more".
so even if you get 1 bad match every 10 matches and the other are just fine. you WILL remember the bad one, while probably forgetting the other 10 ones. which eventually might lead you to think most matches are #########, while they trully aren't.
But I'm not gonna be here and pretend these shitshows of matches don't happen often. they absolutely do. where you are just not capable of doing anything that would change the way the game went.
and those are absolutely the worst. and sower the entire playing experience

You’d be surprised how many people don’t play the game anymore but stay on these forums. I’m just curious about what people want to change to bring them back
maybe... entirely possible.
tbf, ringu being added is pretty cool. but if they added fnaf I would 100% come back, and not because of fnaf, just to collect the salt!
-
the irony of asking in a forum about a game, what would make people who left the game, return to said game.
I'll come back if I just feel like playing the game... which I kinda do, which is why I'm here rn.
-
... no offense but... who cares what people think?
-
I miss old freddy, he was fun.
-
this game got weird since I left... people are actually playing plague? neat

Sorry everyone, I won't be reading the entire thread.
I was taking a break from dbd, because you just gotta sometimes, but I came back because I wanted to say, this game has been fun.
I had a great time playing this game, I played it daily, several matches.
I love how it's basically the smash of horror.
The community content that comes from this game is some of the best I watched.
I looked past several issues with the game, because I understand they are things that happen. some things might have taken longer to look past than others...
but I can't look past this NFT business. I saw the tweet which heavily implied they had nothing to do with it, and I gave bhvr the benefit of the doubt. only for that trust to be broken later.
I wanna say again that I really like this game, but I can't in good conscience endorse it anymore.
even with all the issues, specially on console, I never actually even considered uninstalling the game. now I can't see myself playing it.
The last time I ever felt this way about any franchise, is when JK rowling did... the things she did and does. Granted, what she does is way worse and hits way more personally to me than any nft ever could. but dbd ain't no harry potter either.
So I just came to say this. and that I uninstalled the game from my notebook and ps4. but I didn't want to create a thread because I'm not trying to get any discussion going. I'm just giving my 2 cents.
bye everyone

Yeah, but that also means that you didn't put in the same work that others did to slog through the early days of a game. It's not uncommon for developers to pay respects to their early adopters. Granted, it is unfortunate to not have access to certain items, even if they are only vanity items.
Honestly, I wish they would add a new kind of legacy that you're awarded for reaching a certain level of devotion
If I was given the oportunity to, I would have.
knowing something exists and having the means to take part of it is just a matter of circunstance. and shouldn't be treated as something special when it isn't.
