Looks like basement hag will be significantly less fun to play against with this perk
Don't say that. Basement Hag is the hight of enjoyment this game has to offer :)

Iron Will invalidates a complete part of the killers means of tracking and destroys killers that rely on sound, ie Spirit. I can understand that 100% reduction is comfortable, but that perk allowed way too many cheesy plays with zero counterplay. -75% reduction is still pretty chunky, now you can't use it in every situation, but it still gives you way better odds when hiding somewhat away from the killer .. you just can't hide directly beside them while wounded.
Its like Bamboozled that counters windows, but you still have to vault the window, now imagine it just block all windows that you came within 5m. Or if Crowd Control or Blood Favour were no Hexes and had no cooldown and just shut down your ability to use pallets without any drawbacks.
Lightborn ... yes, there is lightborn. It completely invalidates one entire part of the survivors toolbox, BUT many say that its normally a wasted perk, and at the very least its not a base ability like vaulting, but the means by which a lot of survivors torment the killer. *soft sobbing noises*
-
I guess you trade consistancy for flexibility? Its a tough line to walk, but with Iron Grasp and Agitation you can pretty much drag them from more then half the map to your cosy lil pleasure palace. And then leave, because you want faster Entity Progress. Could be coupled with Devour Hope, maybe? If Hex perks weren't in such a bad spot right now >_<
-
Can confirm. Normal locker grabs count, so there is actually something useful coming from all those DS baits.

But isn't a survivor, who is running around for 80s and trying to get your attention with a flashlight, while staying away from gens and healing others, some strong asset? Yeah, I always hated bodyblocking, but it happened regardless of my distaste for it, soooo...

DH and COH are often a given, being as strong as they are.
But not every survivor runs the meta. A lot do that's why its meta but not every.
You are right about the killer roster though, I find it interesting that people lament seeing the same killers (typically blight/nurse), they are ones that consistently preform at a level on par with a stacked survivor meta.
I mean we used to see a lot of spirit, slinger and huntress but everyone complained they were OP and they nerfed either their powers or their addons so now we have blight/nurse.
The collective is still screaming for nerfs too while also complaining that they only see blight/nurse.
It's becoming more obvious that people don't want varied games or strong killers they just want to be able to loop the same way every game and have it work equally well against every killer. Antiloop has no counterplay, X is boring, you should play like this at x No. of gens etc etc.
I miss having to guess whether spirit was using her power or not, it was different and threatening and required some observational skills.
I miss having to aggressively dodge/avoid huntress because her hatchets were scary and she could have up to 3, (yeah hit boxes are still borked and you get some weird hits but the solution to that is fix hitboxes not nerf hatchets).
I miss having to wildly spin and juke because slinger could quick scope you out of existence.
I miss having to hide in early game because ebony moris could end you in an instant.
I miss these things, I get why they were changed to some extent but I miss them.
People don't want scary because apparently dying in a horror game, even thematically, is annoying... people want safe and predictable because winning is fun.
Well said! I could add very little to this, so I will just back you up.
-
I understand that you might feel that way, BUT IW was so hated by many killers, because it 1) took away an entire part of their repertoire of their tool kit 2) had no counter 3) destroyed several killers that depended on sound cues, singlehandedly, like spirt.
While there are killer perks that take away a survivors tools, like Bamboozle (vaulting), Hex: Crowd Control and Hex: Blood Favour (pallet drops) or Lightborn (flashlights), they all either have some counterplay or cue that they affecting you.
Well, with the exeption of Lightborn, but many don't see it as a strong choice in the first place, so thats its own thing.
-
As a killer main I must agree. At the moment, when I suspect a survivor to be having DS, but I want them out for whatever reason (most likely because they tilted me in some way ^^"), I just think "whatever, I will just eat that DS and then hunt them down". With the duration nerfed to 3s? Thats basically a no-brainer! And no-brainers are seldom good for a game of options.

I occasionally play Doctor with the Impossible Skill Check build & was wondering if there was a similarly creative, frustrating but memey build for survivor.
If possible without a lot of meta perks (these can also be frustrating, but I see the killer equivalent with "Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance" & "Dead Man's Switch" as frustrating as a Survivor with Dead hard, what i'm tryn to say is many assume these perks right from the start)
If possible also without Locker Perks, I don't want to make it too easy for the Dredge, I have enough problems with it as it is
Soo... any ideas?
Highjacking what @craker007 said, Overcome+Lucky Break+Quick&Quiet+Inner Healing is quite the fun. Cleanse a totem, then play the game normally, if the killer corners you just run through them, zoom off, jump in a locker and emerge a few moments later with 2/3 of your lucky break still intakt.

First of all, nobody said wishing cancer to someone because they said gg ez was a correct response so don't make this up.
Then you're obviously taunting him a bit further wich doesn't help calming him down.
Finally you shouldn't even have responded to him after the first slur, just report him (for what it's worth lol) and move on, he is mad and is just trying to make you mad in return, the best answer you could give him is letting him punch his wall in real life while you just launch another game.
Well, the guy directly above your initial response said that because I opened with "gg ez" I was "just as bad or worse then them", so I wouldn't say that I am making things up. Your assessment is fair enough, and usually I am pretty chill, but in all fairness, that was about the most tame taunting imaginable. Literally anything else in the taunting category would have been worse; I have probably been "gg ez"ed a coupe of hundred times and never wished anyone anything bad, least of all cancer. And while I am usually a chill guy, as you can see in my responses, they were an obnoxious bunch, so I gave into the urge and said "gg ez" myself for about the 4th or 5th time.

Dark Devotion is not that bad for instadown Killers like Myers, you hit the Obssession, they go away, the guy who was with the Obssession goes back to the gen, you go back and instant EW3 him without him being able to hear your TR.
That being said is one of those perks that the effect is not bad per se but is so niche its not really worth it, the chances of getting value out of it are slim compared to other stuff like PGTW or Tinkerer so its better to take those instead.
It would be better if it didn't only work on the obsession, but the first survivor hit when outside of cooldown.

So when this first started I made a post about trying to keep the event chill for everyone and just try to share good vibes. So much for that.
My killer matches end under 6 minutes without 4 slowdowns, and survivor matches are facing 4 slowdowns on blight and nurse.
There is literally no winning. If I try to let survivors have a chill match they end it before I can even get BP, basically wasting my flans and walking out with no crown. If I don't run the survivor meta I'm tunneled and slugged the entire match. Same story.
I really do not need those perks for more than half of my games. But this event has been ######### insane and highlights the worst of dbd. The amount of times I've been sent to The Game or RPD and get rolled by mid survivors. I can be downing them fast, but that doesn't matter if they're split up, or putting 5 miles of distance between us, or even just playing on a rigged map.
I've tried to stay positive, and I normally don't get this way while playing. But it has been hell. Damned if you do or damned if you don't.
Can confirm. Had been send 6x to The Game today. The 2 times I played Amandas Letter pig were still fun, though, but usually the survivors are up to no good when they burn mean location offerings.
-
You know how often I got "gg ez"ed? You are right, but according to BHVR a bit of smacktalking is expected and even encouraged. But two things.
1) this was obviously his second line, he had already started swearing before I even entered the post game chat.
2) In what world is wishing cancer to someone and their entire family the correct response to gg ez?
Yes, I was petty, but it was calculated, because they tried to tilt me so hard and it ended with a 4k. But I don't think that there is anything to be apologetic about this.
-
I always advocate for giving us a weekend WITHOUT MMR. If the system leads to better games, people can finally see how aweful it would be without MMR. And thats what you want to advocate. If it only were the other way around I could understand, why you would not wanna do this.

Then you tell them "No, we're not going to follow a slippery slope."
I think Pig needs SOMETHING for her ambush attack; it simply requires jumping through too many hoops just to hope the opponent makes a mistake. I think at least a tiny version of Amanda's Letter or something similar could help with that. Alternatively, a version of Amanda's Letter that only functions while you CHARGE the ambush attack.
Hmm, this could work. Normally the ambush is really a hit or miss thing, but with Amandas Letter you get a much higher chance of it working in your favor.

I think BHVR stated quite clearly that they don't want more scourge hooks on the maps. A lot of people commented on Monstrous Shrine convertin the basement hooks into scourge hooks, but BHVR never responded positively to that idea.

The "I hate totems" build: Inner Healing, Counter Force, Overzealous, Small Game.
You know where totems are because Small Game warns you, you destroy them faster with Counter Force, you repair the generators faster after breaking a totem with Overzealous and, if you need, you can enter a locker to heal yourself with Inner Healing.
I have an altruistic build I like to use: Borrowed Time, Kindred, We'll Make It, We're Gonna Live Forever.
You see if you have a chance to reach the hook with Kindred (or if someone's already on their way), you unhook safely with Borrowed Time, you heal the victim faster with We'll Make It. Someone is being slugged? We're Gonna Live Forever! They'll be up in a few seconds only... and even less if you still have We'll Make It active! (Bonus: more BP with WGLF.)
Oh that sounds fun! I will try that one
-
Besides that being dumb, I don't understand why you would want higher MMR scores? That only makes the game more sweaty. Ugh.
-
Overcome, Lucky Break, Quick and Quiet, Inner Healing.
Find a totem, cleanse it, then just play normally. When the killer corners you, just zoom of in any direction, q&q into a locker, heal up and have only used up 1/3 or your lucky break.
Blast Mine, Flashbang, Red Herring, Head On
Gen focused. Stick to this gens till you can put a mine on, then when you hear the killers terror radius drop don the blastmine and hide in the locker, crafting your flashbang. Trigger Red Herring, with some luck the killer will set off the blast mine. Jump out and throw down the flashbang, zoom off.
Kindred, Bond, Open Handed, Borrowed Time
Amazing info, the whole game is layed bare before you. You could also sub out BT for Empathy. It helps so much to develop a gaming sense and the double sized Kindred is just op. Win any mindgame, because there is no mindgame, because you can see the killer. Have had games where the killer hit facecamping a few meters away from hooked me and the team let the timer nearly run out, killer lost nearly all gens, then they came for a daring rescue. The stuff dreams are made out of.

Nah, survivors love waiting at the exit gate to teabag the killer, they won't leave if you're not there to wave them goodbye 😋 (actually had a few games where I found my masks during the collapse with the survivors waiting at the exit gate, they left as soon as I showed up)
I haven't escorted a lot survivors at all the past month. I know its wastes my time, too, but I just watch some youtube videos. Its the only way that MAYBE educate a few of them eventually. I know that certain habits are hard to drop, but ya'll can do it! Curb this overwhelming urge to t-bag that killer one more time, just to make sure they know you won :)

During these kinds of events i stack flans or whatever item on my characters already prestiged and don't level at all the others until the event is over, so it doesn't feel like a waste. Then i use all the flans to gain bps and keep leveling
Thats probably the optimal and sensible thing to do 🤔But now we are on a timer ^^ The reward will be extremely disappointing, but I MUST be able to flex my e-muscles after the P3-patch.

So a 4 man SWF on comms with 2.5k+ hours each took me to the Grave Of Glenvale map and burnt that offering which increases hook distance. I already knew i was in for a GREAT time. I was playing Artist. The first thing they did was gather around the main building which has like 12 lockers all around, then as soon as i would injure and chase one survivor they would run around the building and near lockers where another survivor kept stunning me with head on. I injure another survivor and they would follow another route around the building and i would get stunned by head one from somebody else again. They all had Head On, and kept following these routes around the main building and stunned me like 15 times. They also set up a Boon exponential and COH in the main building just in case. That building has so many lockers so it was hard to guess which one they were in to avoid the stun, and they were extremely coordinated. So me a "killer" was running afraid of lockers lol. Why does that building have like 12 lockers in it anyways? So survivors can bully killers like this? And the devs are thinking of boosting solos to swf level too? When i say this game is a horror game for killers, i'm not kidding lol, it's pathetic.
I had the exact same thing happen to me, too. That main building is just made for bullying killers with Head On. I managed to eventually kill 2 of the bullies and the one random player in the game, who wasn't part of the whole thing. But of course, it wasn't remotely fun, a big waste of time, and everybody laughed their behinds off in the end game chat. This kinda games its better to eat a 5min DC soft ban, then to deal with this kind of crap, BUT its not the norm. This kinda people give SWF a bad name, but actually most of those are just friends fooling around and dying horrbile deaths because only one of them actually can play the game.

I tried that and yes I found more as survivor but every time when the killer saw the sparkle they tunneled me and camped until I was dead. Also I'm not inflexible as Killer most of the time I don't bother with survivors but when I do that gens fly and they leave before I can fully search.
Dang, thats mean! I usually go easy on sparkly survivors, this far into the event I don't let them go all the time, but I generally try to drag th game out and go for 8 hooks if possible; accidents happen, though.
-
I got all my masks on my second day as a killer main, but for the last 2 days I found so many invitations as a survivor ... I guess its all part of the mindset: if you REALLY want to find them, you are way too unflexible in your mind and focus on the wrong things. If you wanna do it as a survivor, just play the game normally and every now and then you should just stumble over an invitation. The conditions on survivors are a bit more strict, but not unfairly. Its just IN YOUR MIND!
-
This game wasn't actually that bad. It was on new Haddonfield, but the survivor group messed up from the very start when I got an early down, foiled the flashlight save by just pretending to pick them up, then got 2 easy hits and they never recovered from that.
They tried a few more times to tilt me, but it all ended in tears and a 4k. But thats the most hate I ever got, especially since I didn't do anything like camping or letting them bleed out. I think this was a 10 or 11 hooks game, so they all played evenly bad. I guess they were a full SWF group and the first one to die lingered all game, allowing their displeasure to fester ^^ But this here ain't the norm, this is literally the worst I have aver seen in this game, and I have seen quite a lot.
-
Something along this lines. The Flan galore sure makes playing a lot of fun.
And along this lines as survivor.

Bond+Kindred+Open Handed is just such a good info build. People handwave them away as "training wheel perks" because they can use coms, but there is such a vast difference betwenn knowing where something is taking place and ACTUALLY seeing it. Kindred+Open Handed gives you such an unparalleled info in the killer it aint funny, and it might be more advantageous to keep someone hanging for a bit longer, just so you can know the killers every step and move.

Actually per stats from the devs Midwich has the highest kill rate of any map (62%). If anything it’s slightly killer biased. If I had to guess it might be because a lot of the pallet drops are unsafe compared to some maps, and despite being an indoor map it’s actually pretty easy to navigate and patrol. Also the door placements are not too far apart if you’re down to watching the door for the last survivor, meaning those situations are a little more likely to end in 4 kills versus 3 kills once the hatch is closed. (On some maps the doors are sometimes so far apart that you simply can’t patrol them both on most killers and it’s a 50/50 coin toss if you guess the door the survivor is trying to open.)
Midwich is kinda balanced, though, by the atrocious hook spawn logic. On no map have I lost more survivors to casually wriggling free, because there wasnt just any hook in reach! Oh yeah, there was one directly below me! But I can't phase through the wall, and the next drop or stairs are farer away then the next (unreachable) hook.
-
Jeez. Actually OPs basic idea is great: lets try to write the wholesome communities rulebook in order to improve the gameplay experience for everyone.
But, alas, it can't be, because this community can't decide on any common ground thats not 100% perfectly balanced, so lets just keep it toxic and fester :)

Yeah ... that whole system is pretty wonky, not gonna lie. I got pips in games were I thought that I played really badly, and I depipped in games that I totally owned.
I think the biggest offenders are still the Adapt Achievments. They are reasonably after rank resets, but next to impossiburu once you proceeded far enough. And with some killers you can't even use your powers properly, as this will kill your points in the hunting category or something. Ever saw a guide of how to adept pig or myers?
-
Funny :D Here is my guide, and it actually works:
- Git gud with killers in generally and practice a lot.
- Make a new account and buy DBD.
- Start fresh and stark slaughtering super noobs who might uninstall the game aferwards, but thats ok, you dont care, you only want that 4k dopamin rush.
- Once games start to become more balanced, ditch the account and go back to step 2.
- Enjoy and profit, I guess?
-
I feel ya, mate. Trying new stuff or even a fun, meme build and then getting severely crushed by a hyper-tuned, super-efficient SWF death squad feels just bad. I guess its the same for poor survivors getting tunneled out within 2min of the game, it really sucks that the game doesn't take into account when you try some new killer.
I am super bad with Blight. I know that he is supposed to be S tier, but I never learned how to use his power, I will just slide over the map and then slow down ungracefully on the field, with the survivors laughing their behinds off, t-bagging me :) This game has had its ups and downs for me. For a while I was super hung up on all the inconsistencies and unbalanced factors, but in the end it really helps to just relax your views on this things.
Its not easy, I know, and to this day I am still baffled about HOW HARD this game punishes you with sweaty games, jsut for playing consistently good, but thats just what it is. I once gave it my all, tunneled like mad, gave no quarters, expected none, and I guess I even reached what you could call the higher MMR grounds? But boi was it no fun. Sweat and the feeling as if you were running the DBD world cup finals every game, every day. Now I dont mind to throw a game and nearly always give the last survivor the hatch, just to keep my MMR growth a bit down, unless they played super toxic, and I guess its working for me. My games are more of a mixed bag, but with more fun ones then bad ones. Still not sold on the whole way the MMR plays out, but thats what we gotta live with.

Pretty much this.
It's not difficult for survivors to get all 12 masks at all, it might take most of the event but it's not unreasonable to expect to escape 12 times after finding an invitation over the course of 2 weeks.
Is it 'fair' that killers get it much easier? Not sure it even matters, it gets more people playing killer for one which is a good thing. But I wouldn't complain if a killer was required to say, get a silver Devout emblem in order to win a mask.
Thanks. Another thing to consider is this: a lot of people are super focused on getting all the pretty, shiny things secured ASAP. During the snowman event a lot of players got all their charms and cosmetics within 3h of the event starting, and after the couple early games, funny snowman interactions died down considerably, eventually leading to killers hating the snowman, because they were abused as a third health state and a quick getaway, instead of memeing and gooding around.
In general I think its more healthy for the game, if accquiring all the shinies takes a bit more time, as it keeps the event a bit more alive. Now we are nearing the halfway mark, and I imagine that most seriously invested players got all their masks by now.

But my soloQ experience is far from the complaints you get all the time. Yeah, sometimes you are just unlucky and get camped to death on the first hook, sometimes you got real potatoes as team mates, but most of the time its a pretty fun thing and we get many cool situations during a match.Same experience to me. I have to completely agree with you on that, which I hate to do since you mocked me during my "Crop Top for Feng Min" campaign.

Funny thing is that an early game first hook DC usually all but guarantees a 3K, so it's actually helping the killer to get more BP. These DCs only make me mad when I am another surv on their team.
The answer to the OP is that it's that the surv felt entitled to the game going a certain way, and when it became clear it wasn't going to, they babied out.
I once got a bucket load of salt because I had 2 DC when playing as The Plague, and I just wanted the game over with and get into the next one. "How can you play like this with 2 DC? Should have let us go!" "Fggging tryhard" "Toxic killer". It was quite enlightening. But getting an early DC is a bit like tunneling someone out early: it gives the killer much more breathing room and takes a giant weight off your shoulders, so I relax my gameplay a lot and got for 8 hooks on the remaining survivors, letting the last one live. Doesn't protect you from the salt, but it surely reduces it a lot.

But even when you are the only one putting flans out, thats still +106% BP for you, and they only cost like 3k, with 2-3 on every blood web page. I don't the bigger picture here, I guess ^^ Don't get me wrong, I love the big, bad +530% BP games as much as the next guy, but if you take a step back you will see that using a flan is ALWAYS a win.

I'm not saying it's bad but I play on PS4 and when I watch people play on PC I get confused on how they can do it they use WASD to move and the mouse to look around simple enough but it's when it comes to abilities and wiggling it's stuff like LCTRL and such and it looks really hard. So how do you play with a keyboard so easily without button configuration.
Lol, you are cute :D A controller is a tight, lil package of control, its in its name. Duh. But most PC gamers got the keyboard and mouse controls ingrained and they offer you just awesome control and quick response. Especially the mouse is that much faster and precise than anyting you could pull off with a controller.
I tried survivors a few times with the controller, and it kinda works, but I am way too used to keyboard plus mouse. Also, generally speaking, I don't get it why shooters want you to fire your weapons with the trigger shoulder buttons? I remember the good, old SNES times when it was either Y or X to shoot and B to jump. That much more comfortable to reach. I guess I am just old bones who can't compete with the youngsters on their turf. But I will hunt you down and hook you without a second thought with my trusty keyboard and mouse :)

Yes yes, I know. 35 god pallets will have you thinking this map is atrocious. But honestly after playing more and more of this game I slowly started to realize... a lot of maps are worse. With gideon yea there's a lot of pallets, but there's still barely any windows, so it's mostly pallets which once you break... they're gone. Nothing the survivors can do.
Meanwhile on maps like macmillan (god how I hate macmillan maps) you get about 15 different jungle gyms all within 25 feet of each other, putting you in what is practically an infinite until the survivor either A. Messes up themselves or B. falls for some janky mindgame. Add that with shack that is a short distance away from all these jungle gyms and the chance to get a main building like storehouse where you can get looped there for a minute in just that building alone.
I genuinely wipe most of my gideon games and yet when I get on these maps like macmillan or autohaven, I lose most of the time just based off the sheer amount of jungle gyms and ultra safe loops within such a close distance of each other.
You are right about the windows on The Game, there are hardly any, though the problem is that there are just too many pallets, most of them save, only a few on the ground floor around the stairs are unsave. A survivor can literally run all game on The Game from pallet to pallet, predrop them and this will last them the entire match. There ARE some ways of forcing a survivor into a bad spot, but you just gotta be prepared to eat lots and lots and LOTS of pallets. This map broke me a couple of times, just like old Haddonfield.

Its not a waste of time to prestige, because even if the reward is lame you will still unlock their perks for every other character
Somewhat true, but you also loose SO. MANY. ITEMS. I got some 40 flan on Myers, Dredge and Heather that will all be gone soon, unused, because I want to use the event to P3 everyone I can. All that flan ... so sad.

Disgusting. I don't mind that lone cake that much, its sometimes your only option when you play some survivor or killer for the daylies and you just had thought about unlocking anything for them. But I never played a game with less then 2 flans in it during this event, more likely 3+.

I remember how I started last November during the 2021 Halloween event, really dove deep into this game and managed to clear the whole event tome and felt really proud and accomplished.
I then kicked back and listened to that excellent gothic horror story in the narrators sooting voice. And then, about a week later ... it was gone for ever! Into the void. Why is that so? Is it meant to be an ephermal diversion? Just a fluke of the moment? A "living in the now, never to be repeated"? Well, you can still find that story on youtube dbd lore channels, I have looked it up once, but it still baffels me.
So yes! Please give us a tap for event tomes and assorted stories and lore :)
