  • The Clown has better perks and is easier to play. The Hag may be stronger, but she can be very frustrating to play as, and every single one of her perks is either trash (Ruin, Meme seal) or not worth running (Devour Nope).
  • I'm sure the OP is referring to when the survivors can completely block the "hook" prompt by standing behind the killer.
  • BBQ is and has always been the worst tracking perk in the game, just to say.
  • No. You're wasting a perk slot, though.

Every [BAD WORD] time survivors find a way to work around new changes people come over and complain about how they managed to adapt to those changes.

No, it's actually the other way around.

Killers did adapt; survivors simply demanded nerfs every time we did. Every time, they got exactly what they asked for.

Survivors started abusing pallets to grief and farm rather than escape chases, killers complained, got told to 'just adapt' and we did. The devs then buffed pallets to make them foolproof so our adaptation to them no longer worked, because survivors complained about killers being able to adapt to this.

Survivors broke all the hooks, making it impossible for a killer to win if the basement was in a corner of the map. Survivors said 'just adapt', so we did. The devs then gave survivors buffs and killers nerfs to stop slugging at the end of the match where survivors die on the floor because of a situation they created. Eventually we got the regenerating hooks, almost a year after they were needed.

Survivors swarmed hooks for rescues, whilst accusing killers of 'camping' when we never had a chance to even leave the damn thing and as no survivors were doing gens, had no reason to. 'Just adapt' they said again, so we combined the perks Unrelenting and Save The Best For Last to speed-up melee cooldown and prevent hook-swarms. The survivors screamed so much about this, how dare we prevent them from getting away with constant in-game trolling, farming and abusiveness, the devs over-nerfed both perks beyond what survivors even asked for. No explanation was ever given for why the devs made the changes they did here.

Even survivors thought what they did was too much, but shrugged their shoulders and said 'good killer will just adapt' and we did: seeing as survivors were refusing to do gens anyway and always swarming the hook, we blocked the space for unhooking with 'face-camping'. They went ballistic; how dare killers keep adapting after we dismiss their complaints every time by telling them to J U S T A D A P T !

The devs buffed them: Trapper had the ability to put traps under hooks taken away(and this was disingenously listed as a bug-fix) and survivors are now able to unhook from multiple angles.

When is it survivors turn to 'just adapt'? Because it seems to me that whenever they encounter the slightest resistance in-game, their meta is to demand changes from the devs and almost the absolute majority of the time, they get what they ask for.

  • Self care received no nerf.

  • @OP The devs always give survivors what they ask for. They adapt very slowly, if at all, because they never had to. They still don't know how to deal with the Nurse and are constantly screaming fot nerfs, and it took them almost two years to adapt to the Huntress. That's why a killer playing the Spirit can do so good against average survivors. They run in predictable patterns and utterly fail to exploit her obvious and glaring weaknesses: they don't stop running even when it's obvious that she's phasing, and they don't even try to avoid grass patches. Because they expect their brainfart playstyle to work on every killer. But when you face good survivors as the Spirit, you can definitely tell the difference: they won't fail for any kind of "mind game", and phasing means losing them and having to search for them all over again.
Maybe in a couple of years more or less the whole playerbase will agree about the Spirit being meme tier, but for now you'll have to see clueless noobs writing "She's top tier!11!! She cancels loops!11!!!!" and so on.

  • Fun fact: the entity blockers don't work at all since the last patch. You get both the audio cue and the animation play, but survivors can still vault "blocked" windows.
  • Freddy is by far the worst killer in Dead by Daylight. The only real purpose of his power is to remove the hindrance he has by default (can't interact with survivors), and he gets cucked by the most used perks in the game (Self care, Sprint burst and Adrenaline). He's the only killer that has to give a up to 9.5 seconds head start to his targets, who can, by the way, keep doing whatever they were doing right in his face without him being able to do anything about it. He's even less than your regular M1 killer (like the Doctor or the Trapper). He has a laughable stealth and the most basic-ass offense you can think of, that pretty much only kinda works if the survivors ignore him during the transition. He's so bad that he can't even camp. He has no way to stop/punish hookrushing, bad positioning or stupid plays by survivors in general. Killers win if the survivors play non-optimally or if they make silly mistakes, and Freddy is the only killer that can't capitalize on said mistakes. No matter how you "mindgame" survivors, you still have to wait 7 seconds to hit them. If a survivor is anything but braindead, they will run to the nearest pallet/loop, and proceed to stall you until you either get frustrated and give up or 5 generators get completed and they Adrenaline to an exit gate.
Every other killer is far better than Freddy, because they don't take nearly as [BAD WORD] long to take action against survivors.
So yes. He does need a rework. Sadly, though, it's not happening.

  • I mean, I don't know how people could stand playing killer otherwise.

  • He's kinda good. The thing is, if you play him in a large map (Bruttarov's resting place, Yamaoka estate, ecc...), you're gonna have a bad time, since he has no form of mobility whatsoever.

  • That would be a step towards pulling her out of meme tier, so it's never gonna happen.

  • He's meh. He's not nearly as bad as some people say, but he's not very good either. He's right in the middle.

  • The debuff's always been there. It just didn't turn the bar red until the last patch.

  • Not very.

  • Even if your idea was to be implemented, Ruin would still be an overrated placebo.

  • (EDIT: Double post)

  • Looping is cancer too, (and let's not forget it's an exploit), but survivors do it all the time.

  • M&A, Nurse's, Enduring and Bamboozle. Those 4 perks are all you'll ever need on him.

Just had a match where everyone had yellow ping and one survivor had red ping.

The Horse on Crotus Prenn Asylum?

    Yeah that evil horse!

    Horses are terrible people.

  • The fact that you don't understand that to give survivors a tool to make exhaustion perks trigger more than once per chase as they did prior to patch 2.1.0 would not be balanced is why a big, fat

is all that your thread deserves.

  • hIgH rIsK hIgH rEwArd GiT gUD!1111!!!111!!!! trololololol

  • lol. Have fun getting flashlight-blinded at every pallet drop and teabagged at the exit gates.
You said it yourself. He has everything stacked against him. That's why he's the worst killer in the game. No matter how you "mindgame" survivors, his mechanics will always prevent you from doing as well as you could do with literally every other killer (aside, maybe, from the Legion). Even a speed limiter Leatherkek is like ten times more effective and efficient than Freddy.

  • All survivors have to do to avoid Freddy's endgame is split up and not get seen. Freddy can't cover the whole map.

  • @ArecBalrin said

A 'crutch' that has a less than 50% base chance of doing anything; it relies entirely on survivors messing up to be of any benefit. In exchange for these phenonemally poor odds, killers give up a perk-slot.

NOED is not a perk which leverages the game mechanics, but leverages the never-changing behaviour of the opposite side. It has an in-game solution, survivors just choose not to adapt. Their playstyle has remained virtually unchanged for two years because of the constant pandering they've got from the devs.

NOED requires survivors to fail. The killer cannot cover every exit, all survivors have to do is not get seen. Only tools end up on a hook because of NOED where otherwise would have won.

Despite repeated nerfs and increasing limitations, NOED has got stronger (just like the Nurse) because survivors have got worse at the game from not changing how they play at all in two years.

There's just NO balance reason to hide auras from her power.

    Example for Nurse's Calling:
You're in her terror radius, you shouldn't heal in the first place (basic rule against NC)
You're outside her terror radius, you hear her huge vacuum cleaner sound as she goes nearby

As for BBQ, she can't even reach 40 meters in one shot with her power, and BBQ aura stops before she fully uses her power (5 seconds for 35 meters) so there is still room for a survivor to hide.

    +1

Killer mains agree that Spirit is top tier, mid-high at worst. Yeah, it's "the only thing she has."

Oh, yeah, the same "killer mains" that strictly play survivor and want BBQ to be nerfed even more.

  • It's literally the only thing she has. Leave the Spirit and her addons alone.

I'll assume this happens no matter the angle tho

    Exactly.

  • If Leatherface hits a hooked survivor, he gets stunned. He never worked that way, and now he's practically unable to do the only thing he was good at.

  • The Nurse is not op. She's never been op. She does what she was designed to do according to the devs' own stated design intent for her, namely forcing survivors to stop resorting to exploits to escape the killer. It's that simple. She doesn't need to be nerfed. If anything, she should be brought back to how she was originally, with 3 blinks and 115% movement speed as her baseline stats.

  • It's a shadow change. They didn't list it because they wanted to see if they could slip it in without anyone noticing. They did this exact same thing several times throughout DbD's history, the most recent example being the unlisted nerf to Leatherface in patch 2.4.0.
  • Yup. It's not coming. You might as well stop holding your breath.
  • @Tsulan said:
Survivors: give us more objectives, only gens is boring.
Also survivors: nerf NOED, we can't be bothered to do totems.

  • Another disingenuously unlisted change to add to the list.
  • Tracking wise BBQ's always been a sad sack of crap (outclassed by Bitter murmur and some killer-specific addons), and yet every patch contains multiple nerfs, both direct and indirect, to it. Talk about oblivious devs.

    Shadow buffs or shadow nerfs

Why are any of you if you are, so surprised? It happens almost on the regular

And, for the record, the change that rendered Loserface incapable of doing the only thing he was good at has not been reversed, hence it's another shadownerf to add to the list.

  • She's pretty overrated. Not as overrated as the Doctor or the Spirit, but still overrated. She's nowhere near as good as some people say.

  • I heard Civ 6 is a pretty gud game.
