  • When people are this petty, all logic is thrown out the window. If she wanted to go even further she should've waited until he was just about to bleed out then hook them. They'd already decided they were gonna throw the entire game because someone crouched and uncrouched at them, why not go for maximum spite?

  • ScottJund has a Huntress guide that's still relevant. Huntress isn't that hard of a killer to get the grips of. Your entire game plan is throwing hatchets. The better you throw them, the better you do with her. Crosshairs help a lot as well.

A comprehensive guide on how to play the Huntress, from a dude with way too many hours in Huntress....

  • DbD is one of the least toxic gaming communities out there. Of all the communities and games I've been a part of, this one has been the best so far. In general, people are more nice than they are not. Using perks, or playstyles or insignificant things such as clicking a flashlight are not toxic in the slightest and people need to grow up. Actual toxicity is quite rare. The only reason why forum and Reddit people consider this game to be so toxic, is because you're on here looking at the countless posts of people complaining about players camping, tunnelling, using DS etc. when they make up a VERY small percentage of the actual playerbase.

  • The devs ideas of "subtle" buffs to survivors are things like Demo being loud af announcing every hit, Deathslinger's gun shot being map-wide, the sound that plays when Victor has been released (which is such a cool sound btw). So things like making kindred's survivor aura reading a default mechanic (you know, actual QoL changes that would make survivor a lot less miserable?) aren't gonna happen.

  • @DFP said:

Don't. It's less Blood points in a match, and they're even more pointless than usual right now with a two hook requirement. If you don't already have the Mori specific achievements you may as well just start asking survivors in game to help you out and get them in a "cheaty" way because the chances of being able to pull off the Blood on Your Face requirements naturally are astronomical.

"Astronomical" chances? Lmao what? just play as you would but kill the survivors via a Mori instead of hooking them for the 3rd time. Or play Pyramid Head.

  • Increasing the duration is the only buff you could give it. I don't remember if this perk is map-wide or not, but if it isn't then I guess that's another way I'd buff it. It doesn't really need buffs though, it has its uses.

  • "don't lunge" is the simplest advice that can be given here. Hell I play on PC and almost never lunge anyway unless I have to at a window or pallet or after a dead hard, or if I can see they're not lagging. The only time I'll lunge no matter what is windstorm lunging as Wraith.

  • Probably a bug. Should report it in the bugs section. Hag, Freddy, Trapper all can't use their power near the exit gates either on the new maps unless they fixed it in the hotfix and never thought to try Plague while they were at it (a killer that I genuinely think they've forgotten about like Nurse and Myers).

Not the first time it's happened on the reworked maps either lmao.

  • They are *kinda* unbalanced, but imo the only thing that's unbalanced about them is the fact that they have no animation or time required to open the hatch so you can do it mid-chase. It's really cheap and annoying, but it's something that could be easily fixed (and it seems like they're going to fix it)

The actual requirements for the hatch to spawn and be used with a key I have no problems with. If survivors want to get any use out of a key they have to do gens, and they also have to be together and on the hatch to actually get out. And 9 times out of 10 the killer knows, even before the match starts, that a key is in play. Hell they can even influence where the key spawns with those new offerings.

  • I sometimes like to stand at a pallet for a split second and then run to test the killer's reactions or if they even respect pallets. 7 or 8 times out of 10 they respect the pallet and expect me to drop it and it takes them a while to register that I started running again so I get another loop out of it. It works wonders against Legions. Although if they don't respect the pallet you get hit so it's a fun but risky play you can make that can pay off.

But actual pallet camping what you're describing is usually a bad habit that lower rank survivors have and it's hard to get out of it. But there are a few spots where it's better to camp the pallet. E.g at the "long wall-pallet-short wall" structure, in a chase you should just camp that pallet and throw it when the killer gets close if you're injured. Since it's a tall wall, all it takes is one moonwalk and the killer gets a hit on you, so it's usually not worth the risk because a lot of killers know how to play that pallet properly now.

  • If a videogame is getting to you to the point where you're finding it "stressful" to play, it's time to quit that videogame, and play something else because that's not healthy. Or if you're not gonna quit, you should seriously consider changing how you think about DbD and the way you play. It's only a videogame, it shouldn't be stressing you out, you should be playing it purely for fun that's what they're there for.

  • Absolutely agree with Demo being the most underrated killer in the game. At least on the forums and in some streamer communities he is. Great chase power that shuts down or heavily shortens any open area or long tile, good perk synergy, decent map pressure with the portals which are really just the cherry on top and aren't used all that much. A lot of people on here write off demo as being bad due to a lack of knowledge of the killer, maps, or not putting in a few hours to learn him. He isn't pick up and play like Freddy. Once you know where to use his shred it becomes one of the better chase abilities in the game. A lot of people want to use it at every opportunity when that's not how it works. A lot like the problems people constantly bring up with Blight having "a bad power" that you "can't use anywhere in chases"

  • I'm not gonna try and play the game against a Deathslinger, Spirit or Nurse, because those killers will down you without trying and without any way for survivors to counter you in a chase, so enjoy playing hide and seek and seeing gens pop, because I'm definitely not gonna be playing your game if I can avoid it.

...and then get a piece of wood slammed in their face and then holding W for 40 seconds and then repeating the process. I think that's all survivors want Killers to be, and that's kind of stupid

Well you thought wrong. A lot of people really like playing against Blight, who's power is literally a massive "######### you" to people who hold W. When the servers are functional, Huntress is great fun to play against, and things aren't going to go well if all you do is run in a straight line against her. Billy and Demo are a lot of people's favourite killers to go against, and if you're gonna tell me that you run in a straight line against these two killers then idek anymore. Oni is another great example of a strong and balanced killer.

People are fine with good killers having strong chase powers. When there's equal opportunity to outplay each other on either side, it's a blast and games can be really close and intense. But when you have killers like Spirit or Nurse that don't care about what the survivor's doing and your gameplan boils down to hide or randomly guess (ironically the 'hold W' playstyle you described is the best way to counter Nurse in a chase), it's hardly a good experience.

  • Demo, Oni, Nurse, Huntress, Pyramid Head, Blight, Deathslinger, Bubba, Spirit and Freddy are all killers that don't need add-ons at all imo. Maybe Billy as well once you get used to the overheat.

  • It's always meant "killer is camping, don't save". But a lot of people don't know that, so it could mean anything at this point.

I don't think this tech is actually supposed to be able happen, but like I said, having it added in an official capacity would be cool.

That's the whole point of tech. They're things that are usually not intended by the devs, and they're things the community finds and adopts into their gameplay. It's what I like the most about a lot of games, and it's what gives games a lot of player expression and depth which is something DbD is severely lacking. I'm not a fan of developers seeing tech and then removing it from their game (*COUGH* OVERWATCH *COUGH*), or better yet, replacing it with something that's a neutered and worse version of the tech that was originally discovered which is something I think BHVR would do.

Sorry if this is a rant-ey paragraph to your response but I'm very passionate about stuff like this in games and Blight is the only character in this game that has things to actually learn.

  • I think I'd rather it remain a hard tech that you'd have to learn and practice instead of it being something you could easily do. It's what DbD is missing, and what little bits of difficult tech we find aren't useful in the slightest. This one is quite situational but it's actually useful.

Well, I don't want to disappoint you but it seems Crotus Prenn is coming very soon.

    ...damn :(

  • Autohaven maps are very meh now. They were usually not great before the update, because RNG meant you could get either 4 pallets on a single map or 40. It's way too inconsistent with its RNG. Now that's been made even worse with breakable walls, a darker map and weird looking tiles and objects that ultimately have no reason to exist, alongside the dead zones and bad pallet RNG.

The list of good maps is getting smaller and smaller, I can only ######### PRAY that Chapel is one of the last maps to get a rework.

  • The higher my rank the better my queue times. That's literally the only thing that matters, because this game's loading screens and downtime between gameplay is atrocious enough, even when you don't count queues. you also can't put points into killer bloodwebs while you're queuing or in a lobby anymore, so it's now even worse. So having a high rank for instant queues definitely helps a lot.

  • Hag. Press M2 and draw triangles everywhere, then press ctrl when one gets triggered and hit a survivor, rinse repeat, never committing to a chase or wanting to interact with survivors in any way. Very engaging, high IQ gameplay that's fun for the whole family.

  • Best case scenario is he gets decently nerfed in one or two areas, and then gets a few nice buffs in other areas to give him an actual identity instead of being "Master of all trades"

  • Keep in mind that Nurse has had bugs for over a year, Oni's camera flick bug is still in the game after over 8 months and Billy's animations have also been scuffed for a year and they have never planned to fix any of it. Whether that's because they're completely overworked with the current mess they've got themselves into while also getting the mid-chapter prepared, I don't know, but they really need to re-plan their content updates because it's too much. Either that or they abandon ship and get to work on DbD 2 because this game will forever be an unstable mess.

  • Any killer can stay in red ranks, it's up to the player if they want to stay there by playing well.

  • I'd rather they don't nerf or change survivor movement purely for this reason. What about actually making the aiming better?

What about a good aim assist system for controllers instead? It's very doable, id managed to create a very nice aim assist for Doom 2016 and Eternal that feels great, they actually made an FPS game playable on a controller. Or even add in gyro support for switch and Dualshock controllers (idk if Xbox controllers have it, but last I checked they don't). Would probably help out with that whole aiming and tracking thing, if it really is that bad. Deathslinger and Huntress would become much nicer to play on console if you could do the majority of your aiming with the stick and then move your controller to make the small adjustments to your aim.

  • Huntress'Lullaby and bitter murmur are pretty bad perks that I'd replace with something like corrupt, whispers, Nurse's calling, agitation, pop, basically anything that isn't those two perks.

Some people have recommended iron maiden. I'd suggest not running it. Ever. It's a noob-bait perk that is a waste of a slot. You're using a perk slot to make an already fast animation slightly faster. It's not worth it at all. If you wanted that effect she has add-ons that make her reload faster, and she's the least addon-dependent killer in the game so you'll always have some spare.

As for infectious fright, it's not too bad, but you'd need to pair it with monitor to get any use out of it because of her low TR

Not a great pic, but this is an example. If the survivor runs into that room on the left, there are at least 3 directions they can run. There are multiple objects/exits inside of a room that are RNG, so Nurse has to blindly blink in, hope she can see them, and if not, blindly guess which direction they went.

Oh so the counter to nurse is to use psychic powers to know that you're in a lobby with a Nurse, and bring a lery's offering? Gotcha.

And what if I don't have psychic abilities? Your example's good, but it doesn't apply to almost anywhere else in the game except maybe a couple of main buildings. If you've rounded a jungle gym wall for example, 9 times out of 10 you have 2 options which are "keep running away from the corner" or "double back" and you're gonna get hit either way if the Nurse isn't bad and blinks somewhat near to the corner like the other guy said. The only thing you could realistically do is if there was a window or something when you round the corner, and you time it right and vault it with Quick and Quiet.

  • I'm with you and everything, but I just wanna point out your 2nd point isn't actually true anymore. Unless they worded it poorly, they removed the text that said hoarder reduces the rarity of items in chests. So all that perk does now is spawn 2 extra chests and give you a notification when someone picks up an item. Literally went from bad to even worse, and it didn't even work on release either. What a sad series of events this poor perk has been through already lmao.

My guess is they didn't know how to decrease the rarity of items in the chests, or they couldn't get it to work so they just removed the text in its entirety

Cool, another map and key SWF. Looks like survivors are not taking advantage of the situation or anything. Luckily I am spamming Spirit at this point.

Jesus I've never noticed how terrible that Spirit hair is until now. It's like she went bald and couldn't live with her lack of hair, so she attached neon-white pieces of cloth to her head and called it a day.

  • That second to last idea but unironically. You have no idea how much I want to hit survivors with a pillow now.

Pyjama and pillow cosmetics for every killer please?

According to BHVR employees, it is all in our heads and was fixed with a FOV patch change to Legion (:

    OMEGALUL

So it wasn't an FOV issue after all? Lmao. Legion's been neglected so much even the devs don't know how to fix them anymore.

  • You already got a 3k in this scenario though, and the exit gates won't have been opened. That's already a win.

  • I'm also a killer main, and now I can bring in moris for families without keeping track of hook states because I always want to mori on death hook, and survivors can just chill knowing it won't be all that game-changing and we can play a proper match.

One of the best changes they've ever made.

you can literally use the key to escape the closed hatch

..yeah that's how keys work? And if they do it during the egc honestly they're doing the both of you a favour. Now you don't have to walk between doors for 3 minutes straight while the survivor is running around the edges of the map.

  • @SasukeKun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1805225#Comment_1805225

you say that with ur OP perks and pink keys which guarantees a free escape most of the time

"Most of the time"? Bro in all my killer matches to date I've never had more than 2 people escape with a key, and that's probably happened maybe 2 or 3 times. It's usually just the 1 person, at the end of the match, after the hatch gets closed and even then that's a very rare thing that happens.

  • Sorry that moris aren't a free win anymore that you can bring alongside a killer power, 2 strong add-ons and a full perk loadout

    :(

Didn't really mean that a simple nerf is a bad thing, i just find it strange that if it's that simple that it took so long. And in a random hotfix instead of a actual (mid)chapter

True, it's ######### bizarre that it took them several years to do something like this to moris. Then again, it's BHVR, so I'm honestly not all that surprised. It'll take them 3 more years to fix oni's camera freaking out after a demon strike.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    I'm just a bit surprised it's such a ... simple nerf

They have been talking about changing mori's for a while and just adding a extra hookrequerement does not seem that ... much work i guess is what i'm saying.

I have a feeling this won't be the last change to mori's.

Does everything need to be such a complex change though? And is rather they do things the simple way, everytime they overcomplicate a change it gets bugged to hell, takes too long to be implemented or isn't a good change In the first place. This is much better. Now if only they could make other simple changes like increasing Wraith's movement speed while cloaked or give trapper 2 traps to carry by default...

  • You on console? That's the only way I could see this being something I'd agree with, because Blight and Nurse aren't great on there. If this is PC then I'd seriously recommend practicing both these killers because they are absolutely 2 of the best killers in the game when played right. They're harder than PH, Deathslinger, Spirit, Freddy, Hag etc (The other high tiers) and take some work but imo they're definitely much better. Oni too.

Suppose I or the other 3 people on here who actually play Demo will never be able to change people's minds on here about him being a good killer.

  • This would be mine

    image.png

The ones I boxed up are basically me saying they're joint 3rd (Blight Deathslinger Oni) and dependent on who's playing them; and joint 4th (PH, Huntress, Hag, Freddy, Demo) and that's entirely dependent on what map it is.

I think Twins are slightly worse than the chainsaw brothers. You have to play them in a scummy way to use them well but when you do you can snowball really heavily and there's not much the survivors can do. Can literally facecamp people from across the map while applying pressure in other places, and can guarantee a latch or a down on a survivor when they go for the unhook by swapping to Victor when you hear a heartbeat. It's also impossible to make Victor miss unless the killer makes a mistake.

  • Are you on some kind of alt account? You're only level 21 and you said you've been playing for 2 years...

But anyway, low rank players (not new players) can sometimes be even harder to play against than high ranks because their movements are completely unpredictable. You think they have an understanding of the game and will try to do something smart but NOPE they just hold forward like there's no tomorrow and don't give a single #########. And they also really like to crouch around, which is the biggest and only counter to Nurse. High rank players are much more predictable and don't like stealth, so generally it's a lot easier. If you've played a lot of survivor and are in purple and red ranks you'll find Nurse really easy once you get to those ranks because survivors make their movement so incredibly obvious.

  • @Mooks said:

And you know the dev team is at fault and not the higher ups from BHVR?

they probably can’t delay their releases because they are bound to contracts or something and have to manage the different platforms.

Hotfixes are there for bugs etc. and it’s not like you didn’t know about the issues before purchasing the DLC.

If Activision-Blizzard and CDPR of all companies can delay their games this much, there's no way BHVR wouldn't be able to delay their DLC. I refuse to believe BHVR are a worse company than the 2 I mentioned.

Again, I've been using them like this ever since release, and it's STILL not working now that people understand how to deal with them. Between the bugs and just how slow and useless they are, even Demo is better.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1800357#Comment_1800357

It's not impossible. If you can hear the screeching, you are susceptible. By default, Victor's screeches extend 12 meters. It's really easy to avoid.

Yes, it's easy to know when you hear Victor, but if you put Victor In a good spot that's not obvious it's Impossible to get within 13 meters of him and then start crouching. The moment you hear his noises as survivor you've triggered KI.

  • ...you know you could just play Wraith or Legion without ever using your power if you really really wanted to have a pure M1 experience right?

Edit: you already thought of that. But Legion would be your best bet, you don't play differently against a Legion no matter what, he's as basic as they come.

  • @Ace_Ventura said:

Wraith and Spirit's post phase lunges took MONTHS to fix...and in those months, Oni was released, Ruin was nerfed, Doctor was reworked, as was his map and all his addons. Wraith and Spirit weren't fixed until Deathslinger was released.

    If that's any indication.

They were fixed in the Doctor rework patch. At least Wraith's was, idk about spirit. But Wraith's lunge was absolutely fixed when doctor got reworked. Then he got another bug in the Deathslinger patch that gave him really off-sounding bell hits for his uncloak and cloaking animation. He managed to last an entire 6 weeks before getting another bug that took another couple of months to fix.

  • Dude you slugged them? Within the first 5 minutes of the game?! Unacceptable. In the rulebook it states you need to wait 6 minutes and 9 seconds before you can slug, and you're only allowed to slug 1 survivor at a time.

  • The rift, store and auric cell buy menu are all in perfect working condition and have no faults. DbD is literally a perfectly functioning game I don't see what the problem is tbh. You can buy a battle pass and premium currency for overpriced to ######### cosmetics, what more do you really need from a game in 2020?

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/211622/gotta-love-getting-pounced-by-victor-while-in-a-locker

    Are you kidding?

I get nothing BUT survivors dodging him 99.99% of the time no matter how much I take my time to keep track of the survivor while they’re zig zagging like a crazy person.

It’s incredibly frustrating having something so easy for survivors to do punish the twins so much. It’s infuriating. So right now, survivors foolish enough to get into a locker is the twins few reprieves.

You might need to put more practice into tracking survivors. Billy backrevs, Bubba backrevs, Demo shreds, point-blank Huntress hatchets...etc. Also try backing up slightly and using your actual movement to account for the survivor movement as well, don't put all your effort in moving the camera. And, like demo's shred, the hitbox is VERY forgiving so as long as the survivor is roughly in the centre of your screen it will hit.

  • @MythMage said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1799865#Comment_1799865

Except they can just crouch, completely nullifying this completely.

You can't realistically crouch and avoid being detected by Victor's KI while he's camping someone. It's impossible to know the exact range without triggering KI at least a little bit which is more than enough for you to react to and take control of Victor.
