  • Well one already got changed which was the one that let him see how progressed gens were, unfortunately the others I can't remember atm

  • I don't think Jason basekit needs a nerf, however some of his addons probably do need adjusting

  • Could be possible? I've heard Jason Universe has access to the designs in f13th the game and Jason X did have a design in the game, but he was never released and we don't know the limits of what in the game they can access if what I heard was true

  • @Mooks said:

yeah, Eric Pope did tease something more than “just” Jason but lets just wait and see whats in the PTB later today! It doesnt have to be new characters

Rhea Ripley might come as a New surv but she could also be a legendary Skin for an existing character - i have seen people claim she would be Best fit as a Huntress Skin and not surv(?)

For the invitations, these could be for characters coming later this year in other chapters/midchapters. Imo it would be weird for survivors to come with an invitation and three killers in one update would be a bit too much

True, but there are survivors who entered the realm by choice so I could possibly see a survivor accepting if the character is one that's crazy or curious enough to do so. You make good points though

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

    Probably pamela as a legendary

I think New Line has the rights to Pamala unfortunately

  • @dbd900bach said:

I don't know exactly what skins are under who, but I believe the way it was described is that most versions of Jason from films 1 - 8 are on the table because they are part of Jason Universe. However, there is a handful still under New Line Cinema which falls under the F13 umbrella. That includes Uber Jason unfortunately.

    I could be completely wrong.

The reason I specified Uber Jason was because they had an Uber Jason skin in Multiversus, doesn't mean it's gonna happen tho ofc

  • I think Jason's own game proved it's very possible to make a fun moveset for him, obviously I'm not saying copy paste him from that game (Because that game and dbd work very differently) but people acting as if he's doomed to be boring just because his character is kinda simple doesn't make sense to me

On A Nightmare on Elm Street rights the Wes Craven estate needs to agree on them doing anything with the original license. The licence in DBD is of the reboot movie that Wes Craven had nothing to do and so its rights are on New Line Cinema so they can license that one how they want. If you want OG Freddy you need to Wes Craven estate to agree and seems like they don't agree on anything currently.

Even if Wes Craven's estate owns only US rights that is enough of them to block any usage of character as they own the character itself. That is the reason why they can literally stop any projects if they don't agree. You also don't seem to get that even if they could somehow get the character licence rights from New Line Cinema that does not even own the original Freddy as I said they would not be able to sell any related to that inside the US as they have no rights to do so. Still as the character itself is owned by Wes Craven's estate makes it totally impossible without their approval.

I never mentioned OG Freddy only mentioned updates and new content. I'm well aware the Estate owns OG Freddy that's why I did not bring it up.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

Judging by how Stranger Things has been handled, I'm guessing no. If they make a new NOES or have a big promo for the originals, we might get something. But otherwise they don't like revisiting old content. Even looking at SAW, the last time we got anything was when Spiral released. I think they'd rather pour more resources into their big name licenses, which sadly these are not. Maybe if they'd gotten Robert and Heather from the beginning, it would receive a bit more attention. But as is, I wouldn't hold my breath.

    True very true

Tho I do wanna point out we did get a Blighted Pig halloween 2024 so it's not BHVR just forgetting them (At least not entirely) it also really depends on the license holders decisions since they have to bring it up with the holders for every piece of new content. And from what I've heard Noes current holders are hard to work with

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Even if (I expect when) Netflix buy Warner bros it changes nothing with regards to Freddy.

Wes Craven's estate own the character and any new projects movie or otherwise is entirely up to them and can't be done without them.

Given the fact Freddy never got anything in the game it seems highly unlikely that's about to change.

I'd say its far more likely he's the next license to leave the game whenever the current agreement is up.

I'd definitely pay for a proper Englund Freddy in the game, the remake wasn't worthy of a place in dbd to almost every nightmare on elm street fan there is only one Freddy!

Likewise when people say Netflix buy warner bros we can have pennywise seemingly completely oblivious to the fact no we can't, Steven King could give us pennywise (he won't) neither Netflix nor Warner bros can do either.

More chance of scooby doo, that they could do unfortunately!

The Wes Craven Estate owns the U.S rights to Freddy, WB owns the international rights. BHVR is a canadian company therefore is under the international rights meaning it's up to WB. If BHVR was a U.S company then the Estate would have to be involved but since BHVR isn't the Estate doesn't have anything to do with Freddy in dbd (To my understanding)

If it was up to the Estate I doubt Freddy would have been added to dbd at all

If they don't like reworked Freddy, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Freddy's first rework was fine, even though they called him S tier (because he was clearly as strong as pre-nerf Nurse, right? 😂), because at the end of the day he was an M1 killer with slowdown. That's all he really was, and still is btw. I argued that if you dropped that version of him in today's meta, he'd still be nothing, less than nothing, but he'd actually have a bit more stuff. He had strategy-based anti-loop because you could place far more snares, and even fake pallets (not sure why their count was ever nerfed). You could wake up from dream with clocks on top of missed skill checks. If he teleported to your gen, just let go and run, or if he faked it, come back. There was nothing to him, for good survivors. But because bad survivors en masse complained about this M1 trash, calling him Nurse/Spirit tier, he got nerfed, and has just sat at the bottom of the tier list since.

It takes a lot to surprise me these days, but I was surprised to hear the talk of Freddy needing a nerf before his rework drops, and this coming from experienced players. Why? "Because he can slug." So what? Every killer can slug, and their kill rate is sad, even by the most generous metric. You can't advocate for a game state which completely favors the survivors (assuming they know what they're doing), and then punish the killer player when he adapts and strategizes to try and make something of their situation. 🤷‍♀️ Slugging is that strategy. Now, I didn't ask for or expect a Freddy ability that lets him tp to in-dream healers, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be a thing. Let the devs send it to live so that we can actually try it out. The feedback from the ptb is always a joke, because it's always "This killah is too strong." Even if the tp to healers makes him "better" at slugging, is that even gonna be good enough? Is he ever gonna be in that position? He's still an M1 killer with a smidge of anti-loop.

But I'm with OP here. If he's simply not good enough, nerf or no, whatever. We're used to it. The fact we're even having this ridiculous discussion, AGAIN for a different killer, I think is the reason why this game's days are numbered.

The thing is he can't even slug it's listed clearly that once he downs someone they wake up

  • @Inosennatoki said:

Hopefully his dream pallets will get buffed.

They should make it so they can't stun him again or make it so they can't be dropped while exploding

  • Freddy hasn't been cannon at all since his original rework otherwise he'd still be completely invisible to awake survivors

The Sleep isn't what's wrong, it's how they implemented it.

Honestly something as simple as taking old Freddy and slapping Incapacitated on survivors during the dream transition would've fixed a lot of the issues with it.

Yeah a simple rework to it could fix it

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

this argument is like saying, "Remove Oni's Demon fury mechanic", This single mechanic makes Oni ineffective. the whole point of freddy is that he is strong when your asleep and weak when your awake. The problem with current freddy is that freddy is weak when your asleep and has no ability when your awake. the reward doesn't meet drawback. in fact, you could remove freddy entire awake/wake mechanic and he'd still be among worst killers in the game because there is no potency in his ability.

And I understand the mechanic is lore accurate and everything and yes his power is still bad in general but no other killer has a mechanic that makes them unable to use their power, they need to change something about it if not remove it because it's just way too detrimental atm n (Not to mention how it was originally but at least it was more engaging)

  • @GeneralV said:

Well, I've seen this discussion before, from a content creator if memory serves me right, but as a long time Freddy I strongly disagree with this idea.

In my opinion the sleep mechanic is not the problem with Freddy, at all.

The problem is that Freddy's power is still designed around his original, flawed rework. Freddy's rework basically deleted his previous version and replaced it with a power that lacked an unique identity and his original playstyle, but it was a very strong and downright unhealthy power. Chasing an awake survivor was not a severe issue with Freddy's post-rework power.

However, we all know that post-rework Freddy had to be changed. And he was changed, but no compensation buffs were given after his nerfs. Meaning we now have a power that is designed to work with a broken level of strength, and said strength no longer exists.

Now, the original idea of pulling survivors into the Dream World in order to attack them made sense and it was much better thematically than what we have now. The problem was being unable to stop survivors from finishing a generator or getting an unhook during the Dream Transition, but that could be easily fixed nowadays with the Incapacitated status effect. Or it could have been fixed back then by giving it something similar to Madness 3, which, unlike the Incapacitated status effect, was a thing in the Old DBD.

I know we have confirmation that Freddy is not getting his old power back, and for that I'm truly sorry. I really did the best I could for him. But the sleep mechanic itself should be the same as the one he used to have. From my own proposal, this is what I'd like to see:

Pull survivors into the Dream World

-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.

-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.

-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see glimpses of The Nightmare and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.

-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.

Even without the 50% slowdown or the aura-reading, the "Pull in Dream" mechanic is a perfect fit for him, in my honest opinion as a long time Freddy main.

I guess we'll see with his upcoming rework. Personally I like the mechanic but it just seems like it's holding back creativity because the devs have to worry about the mechanic instead of being able to fully focus on his power, my hope for this rework would be giving Freddy multiple abilities to choose from like Vecna and make it so this mechanic works in a way that isn't so boring and more engaging (Like it used to be) but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanic is gone. I mean it even holds back community creativity because almost everyone worries about making the mechanic work.

  • Found a Robert Englund Freddy concept skin model on reddit thought I should share it

    GX3MvKuXEAAtdm4.jpg
  • After some research sadly even if Freddy were to get a Robert Englund cosmetic Englund would not voice him due to the fact he claims he is pretty much done with the character so while a cosmetic is possible it would likely have no voice lines with it

Heard a theory about this yesterday. The survivor possibly could be Ralph who is the phone guy from FNAF 1, he only recently just got his name revealed in the recent fnaf interactive novel : a week before

The lore would be easy. When he eventually gets caught by the animatronics and stuffed, he gets taken by the entity before he dies.

As for appearance, i haven't read the book so i don't know if he's described in it but afaik dbd would be the first visual interpretation of the character, so i think that possibly makes it the safest choice.

As for perks since he's the OG security guard, this would make his perks based on being a security guard.

This idea remind me a lot of Tapp, he died in saw 1 and hasn't been relevant since but DBD has been his chance to shine really, getting multiple cosmetics and even a masquerade mask.

Ralph could be like that, he wouldn't interfere with the fnaf lore as much as other choices and DBD would be a chance to flesh out the character.

    I really like this idea!

He should get a cosmetic that just has him wearing a phone head

U kinda mentioned survivors cant wake eachother up, then talked about the boiler room idea saying survivors can wake them up, that kinda gets confusing and for the most part most of the survivors will end up asleep for most of the trial unless they are constantly looking through cabinets to wake up because they will be stuck in some deathtrap arena if they arent constantly waking themselves up lol they wouldnt have time to go find their teammate to see if they are wakeable or not

I was mainly focused just on making it not so painfully easy for survivors to wake up since being awake means Freddy is nothing but a M1 killer against you, I was gonna change it but forgot to when I swapped out alarm clocks for medicine cabinets the reason I haven't edited it is because I'm not able to edit the post for some reason

It's got a lot of cool ideas, I can feel the passion and love of the character, but a lot of it is not very practical.

The dream transition idea is cool, but his gameplay loop becomes being in the right mode to sneak up on survivors then transition for a free m1, it'd be like playing Wraith, but with Spirit limitations and no speed to compensate.

The transition to the boiler room would have to kick the player off to another plane, like the last Halloween event did with the tornados. It's an interesting idea, but the problem for this is the bots for the killers have to be decent, but also not too strong, and defining that would be tough. It's also busted if Freddy doesn't have to physically catch the survivor, the player automatically losing a hook stage as a result of Freddy just putting them asleep and following/zoning them off adrenaline vials... or near useless if he does have to catch them, as 60s is a loooong time to wait out for something quite likely to give minimal value.

There are some really cool ideas here though that do feed thought and potential other ideas, so good job 🤘😁🤘

Freddy would have a directional lullaby to survivors in the opposite world of him, so they would hear his lullaby get louder the closer he was kinda like old Freddy and in the same world it would be the terror radius. I wanted to add this fact but forgot to.

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

I like the idea of him jumping between the real world and dream world. Imagine if he had a cool transition animation where here sort of slashes a hole in between the 2 worlds and jumps through.

Not sure how it would feel only being able to see survivors in one reality though. Because then you'll be chasing an awake survivor, hit them, and no suddenly they are invisible.

I think instead remove the act of putting someone to sleep by hitting them and instead bring back his 'Pull in Dream' interaction so Freddy can control when someone falls asleep. Let Freddy still see the survivor but he can only injury them if he is in the same world as them and is only visible to the survivor when in the same world. Maybe even bring his aura reading back in same way like when entering the real world, sleeping survivors are revealed for a few seconds to symbolise that even when in the real world he still is connected to the Dream World.

The Boiler Room is interesting and could be fun, but honestly I think he might have too much then. The transitioning between worlds and getting snares + pallets together would already be enough.

Would be a fun design! I hope if they do rework him again they find a middle ground between his two powers like this.

For the Pull In Dream mechanic with that there really wouldn't be a reason to actually transition because a real world chase wouldn't be worth it, I mean yeah your attacking people without them being asleep but you have nothing but a M1 like that so it just wouldn't be worth transitioning half the time, maybe instead of them just being invisible Freddy can still see them but they would be covered in static or something so he wouldn't just lose them right after. The boiler room is just something I think is so iconic in the movies I just thought it could be a cool mechanic, now that I think about it maybe it could just be a reskin of the basement.

Robert Englund would just be in a booth recording 1 key word 37 times for anytime he hits a survivor.

I mean Brad Dourif did that for Chucky, also Robert Englund said he's still willing to voice the character Robert knows what Freddy would and wouldn't say, so if anything all the different lines would be because of Robert Englund making sure everything is correct

  • @GeneralV said:

It is really unfortunate the only time Freddy changes his appearance in the remake was during a deleted scene, because I personally prefer the remake but that movie doesn't really have anything that could become a cosmetic.

I'd like to see him with cosmetics with slashes in his clothes, too, though.

And Freddy's model definitely needs an update. He's so small and unimposing. Even if he's technically accurate to the movies (is he, though?), he should look intimidating. The Entity would surely give his stature at least a little buff.

I'm not entirely sure but those should defiantly added, also they should probably just update the models because Freddy and Quentin have the same body model

But comboed with the rework we know is coming? Oh, that would be a beautiful dream. And actual cosmetics… just imagine. Freddy's taken so many freaky, funny nightmare shapes over the years.

I'm afraid of hoping, but god, I want it.

They gotta find some way to add "Welcome to Prime Time" as flavor text or something for sure

Because they like Myers/Ghostface/Dredge and Pig as characters/their design.

And they still have more facets to their own powers (I'm using parts of them to draw parallels/give a better mental image of how the power could be structured). Such as Dredge's Nightfall and double-back, Myers being insta-down with his power (and strong addons), pigs secondary objective/delay and on-demand Undetectable, ghostfaces crouch memeing and more frequent undetectable, smaller profile, and instadown potential.

And of course unlocking their personal perks.

True but honestly reusing powers is something I'm personally not a fan of, still a cool concept tho

  • @AssortedSorting said:

    Rough Concept:
    Myers/Ghostface/Dredge/Pig

Can stalk like Myers, but also able to lean around taller obstacles to stalk like Ghostface, and is undetectable in some manner (Maybe by entering and exiting special lockers they can teleport around the map like the dredge, this resets an Undetectable state that is lost when entering chase with a survivor/using the upcoming ability). The eyes shining with more intensity as they're stalking, successfully stalking survivors builds a bar. Attacking while stalking will cause them to begin to charge an attack like the Pigs Dash. Upon fully charging (and while still holding the attack button) they will start a Pig dash with a distance based on how much bar they had. Releasing the Attack button ends the dash early and will refund part of the bar that would have been unconsumed based on distance traveled.

Survivors can spend time to barricade the special lockers, which will cause the Killer to lose the undetectable state immediately if they teleport to that locker or just cause a localized (directionally global? for SoloQ?) noise notification that lets survivors nearby know the Killer is there.

Ok but why would people use Myers Ghostface Dredge and Pig if one killer pretty much has all they're powers combined?

Tbh, my biggest hope is that Springtrap doesn't end up feeling like a lot of the generic FNAF concepts I see with Hallucination Discs or Fireaxes, things he either very sparcely uses in canon in minor ways or outright doesn't have. There's a lot of uniqueness that I think could be drawn from simply attempting to adapt elements of regular FNAF gameplay over the trials, although I'd rather give Springtrap a Bite ability than a generic Jumspcare.

The map will probably be the FNAF 1 Pizzeria, with I imagine the animatronics on stage and Foxy is in his cove. As for survivor, I really can't imagine it'll be anyone but Mike, since he's confirmed to be the protagonist of about 3 games (1,4, Sister Location) and implied to be the protagonist of 3 more (2,3, Pizzeria Sim). Vanessa isn't half as popular as a character and is generally part of the games more steadily marketed towards children, so I don't think she'll get a major role.

I saw a really cool concept where he could use remnant to purchase abilities on a security tablet and some addons would change those abilities

Don't put that thought into the universe. I had enough with them making the Tales From the Pizzaplex canon. Mind you, this series includes:

    • A broken AR booth which causes the person inside to get inside a reality where everyone gets cancer and weird jello babies just exist.

    • A game which reads your brainwaves to control an in-game Monty (which can move into your brain)

    • Nanobots which wrap Christmas presents, and can carve tatoos into your skin from the inside on command.

    • A dream sphere which is just a one big drug trip sold to kids.

    • A club of FNAF x D&D kids who eat dirt and are commanded by a robot principal.

    • Virtual anime servants.

    And more.

Edit: Of course, I forgot the whole Mimic thing. Just to summarize, the lore is confusing enough. There is no need to make it more confusing. Plus it gives BHVR more room for creativity.
