When the topic of buffing the Trapper comes up, a very popular suggestion is to have him start with all his traps on hand, similar to the Trapper Sack addon without the associated downside of being unable to pick up any set traps again. This, in my opinion, is a bad idea, and I don't actually think the most common counterargument - that basement Trapper is unfun for survivors - is the most compel14 comments 1,102 views last activity

The rework that Dead Hard received in the 6.1.0 update was certainly enough to ensure the perk is no longer absurdly overpowered or deeply unhealthy for the game, but that's not to say the perk is in the best spot it possibly could be. There are still some minor issues with it, and it's still clearly a lot more appealing than most other Exhaustion perks, and it's not necessarily hard to see why.49 comments 651 views last activity

I don't think I need to spend that much time talking about how and why Trapper sucks, but for posterity, the issue that I was mulling over before coming to this idea was specifically the fact that his traps are easily seen these days because of a mixture of brighter maps and thinner grass. Even the Tar Bottle has fallen from grace as a pretty outdated addon, and so clearly something must be done5 comments 62 views last activity

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I miss BBQ getting tokens, and would be pretty stoked to see it getting that token mechanic back-- even if it doesn't get the bloodpoint gains back at the same time. With that in mind, I had an idea for what kind of mechanic it could have... Currently, BBQ has a 40m "deadzone" from the hook it activates from, where it doesn't reveal survivor auras. As I've been tremendously bored and kind of sick recently, I decided to impose a bit of a challenge on myself while playing DBD, to keep exploring the notoriously and, in my opinion, undeservedly reviled killer perk NOED. We've all heard the arguments for why it's OP and/or unfair, so do they bear out in practice? For this experiment, I played two killers with the same build following the same g6 comments 201 views last activity

Currently, Situational Awareness has two effects. The first I think is fine, and moderately useful in solo queue; it highlights the generator you're working on to your teammates, meaning that they can at least hypothetically know not to run the killer towards you. It's fine, nothing special but plenty workable. The second aspect, however, I think could be buffed. Currently, it shows you the aura1 comments 21 views last activity

In the course of figuring out what builds to run as I immerse myself a little more into survivor gameplay, I've been evaluating the different healing perks available to me, both for healing myself (solo queue moments) and for healing my teammates. One thing that stuck out to me on the former end is Renewal (formerly Second Wind), which currently requires you to heal one health state on your teamm0 comments 11 views last activity

...So here are my suggestions! Hyperfocus: This is the big elephant in the room, and the perk that clearly needs changes the most. I'll echo certain other suggestions and just say that it shouldn't work with toolboxes; this change would preserve its intended function and still allow for strong synergy with Stake Out, but would cut down considerably on the amount of skill checks generated, and1 comments 41 views last activity

By which I mean, absolutely no red bar in the lobby, but crazy rubberbanding and stuttering once you've actually loaded into the match. It's happened to me twice now, where there's no indication in the lobby that my connection will be poor but in-game it's going completely crazy. Just checking if anyone else has experienced this, or if I need to be looking towards my end of things instead lol1 comments 31 views last activity

I think it's a fairly uncontroversial statement to say that Eruption fills an unhealthy niche in the game right now- whether you think it's just straight overpowered, or just poorly designed in that it loses a ton of effectiveness against SWFs, it's clear that changing this perk could benefit everyone. So, first off, I don't think its activation mechanic or regression portion should be changed a17 comments 161 views last activity

I can't see the "Forum Feedback" category anymore, so I assume it's been rolled in here? Anyway- I like the new look, a lot more slick! I do have some minor problems, though, and I figure feedback is always welcomed, so here I am. First, as others have said, I do think it could be more obvious when a post has new replies- the black "new" box blends in to the background of the forum a little much10 comments 141 views last activity

This is much less of a balance suggestion and far more of a QoL suggestion, but it'd be really cool if active boon totems didn't ping Small Game. That information is entirely useless, and it's just an annoying noise every time you glance in the direction of a boon you either set up yourself or can see through walls, so having it be silent and not proc when staring at a boon totem would be pretty4 comments 71 views last activity

I don't want to comment too prematurely on the Knight's balance when I've only played him for three games on live servers, but there is one thing that's been bugging me since his PTB that I think it's still fair game to comment on now. Specifically, I kinda wish he could send his Guards to break something without having to go into little green orb mode? I don't think it'd be too OP if he could s0 comments 11 views last activity

She seems like a hot topic right now, and I want to throw my two cents in! My ideas are split between two groups- the core ideas that I think must be implemented, and the secondary ideas that I think might be interesting or useful without necessarily thinking all must be implemented at once, or that they're as obviously necessary as the core ideas. So, the two core ideas first: The Nurse's22 comments 201 views last activity

Title. I genuinely can't figure out the theming or the mechanical utility behind only showing the Obsession's aura. It's too situational, since the Obsession could be the fourth hook or might even be dead by the time you get the fourth stack depending on how stealthy they play and how much the others mess up (or how much the killer successfully tunnels, even). Would Grim Embrace be broken if3 comments 161 views last activity

Title, effectively. I was thinking about how well the Resident Evil collabs seem to be going for BHVR, and was brainstorming a little what else I'd like to see, and I had a thought- STARS uniforms for the base four survivors. I'd love to play a STARS Medic Claudette, or something akin to Jill's beret look for Meg, and so on and so forth. I think it'd be neat, kinda like the Attack On Titan ski0 comments 41 views last activity

Title. People keep saying that solo queue has been ruined, it's dead, it got the short end of the stick with the big midchapter patch recently, and I just do not see it. I'm asking in good faith here, I believe there's probably some kernel of truth in this take since so many people parrot it, but the only thing I've seen making solo queue any worse than it used to be is people giving up by DCin66 comments 1,463 views last activity

To start, the misc stuff from the bottom of the dev update, since obviously the meat of this is the balance changes: Clown Returns & Orange Glyph Change: Great news, love it. I mentioned this idea in another thread that I made, but I wanted to isolate this idea specifically just to give it a little more focus. So, it's my opinion that medkits are posing a very specific kind of problem in this game, and it's self-heal speed. Not the speed of healing others, mind, but just for healing yourself- if two survivors are dragged off a generator to heal, I'm okay with them6 comments 41 views last activity

We'll be tackling each item type separately here- while I'm not going into detail about addons, it's safe to assume I think changes should be made to those too, it's just a different topic. Flashlights: Starting with these because honestly, I think flashlights are fine. They provide a little value and they provide it well, alongside being a nice pick for survivors who'd like to be cocky and ke0 comments 11 views last activity

I've seen a few of these around recently, and it's made me want to throw my hat in the ring! So, I'd like to start off with a hardline statement so people know where I'm coming from: None of Deathslinger's changes need to be reverted. There's one I'd like to see amended, but everything about Deathslinger was changed for a reason, and reverting him back to how he was pre-changes is not a net4 comments 21 views last activity

Not a rhetorical question, I'm legitimately wondering this. A few people have pointed out that the new prestige system, while definitely a good change for veteran players (as well as for new players, despite flawed arguments supposing otherwise), might hurt people who only care about playing one survivor. After all, they do have to spend ten extra bloodwebs in exchange for their grind only being21 comments 251 views last activity

Now, is Harper Row the best fit throughout all of DC canon for a survivor in Dead By Daylight? Almost certainly not. But! Is she the best fit from Gotham specifically? Not really. However, have you considered that I love her? Joking aside, I do think she'd be a good pick. Fresh-faced and lacking in training enough that having her in the Fog won't strain credulity, but tough enough that she'd be0 comments 1 views last activity

This'll be a long one, there's a lot in this update. Overall, I feel very positive about these upcoming changes, with a few concerns and a few things I'll have to test before I can form a proper opinion on them. So: Progression System changes: These are good! I don't think that the grind is necessarily done with, in regards to making it less of a chore, but I do think it's now in a spot where0 comments 11 views last activity

A little while ago, I had an idea for how to address Bubba's facecamping: what if his saw stopped (not put him in tantrum, just stopped and went on cooldown) if he sawed into somebody with the Endurance status effect applied to them? That way, I theorised, at least Borrowed Time would do something (via guaranteeing a trade instead of a double-down) against a facecamping Bubba, provided you do a0 comments 21 views last activity

In my opinion, the fact that theoretically there's no limit on how quickly you can perform a certain action if you stack multiple different boosts is one of the major underlying problems plaguing this game right now. Healing in a tiny handful of seconds, or stacking generator repair boosts so you can bang one out with incredible efficiency, are extremely hard things for killers to deal with and1 comments 51 views last activity

Since I've got a little spare time on my hands and I've been thinking about them a lot, I'm going to go through every generic killer perk and say what I think should be done with them, if anything. I don't think the overall crop of generic perks is that bad on the killer side, but most of them could use some kind of change, as a lot of perks in this game could in general! I don't personally think that Merciless Storm is a bad perk, per se, but it's definitely on the weaker side and I'd like to see it provide just a tiny bit extra. The idea that I had in mind was to make it so any generator that is currently being affected by Merciless Storm is highlighted to the killer in yellow. This won't give the killer time to intercept unless they're very close, but it's a l6 comments 51 views last activity

It's my opinion that Thrill of the Hunt would be a better perk if it were no longer a hex, instead simply providing a stacking slowdown to blessing and cleansing for every standing totem on the map. There are a few reasons why I think this would be better, and I intend to lay them out here! 1: It simply isn't strong enough. There are examples across the game of non-hex perks that do something6 comments 51 views last activity

It's my opinion that while the Outdoor Security Camera (aura reading for anyone outside your Terror Radius for a marked down) is a perfectly legitimate and fine iridescent design, I really don't like Ghost Face Caught On Tape. Faster lean-stalking is just kind of a boring effect for an iridescent and balancing that out with a nerf to regular stalking just doesn't do enough to inform a playstyle o4 comments 51 views last activity

It's a problem, we all know it. While there are things you as a survivor can do to prevent it from taking hold, it's much harder to prevent than is reasonable to expect and the game should probably be disincentivising the kind of play that facecamping results to; a short burst of playing the game, and then just standing there for three minutes or so while someone slowly dies and teammates work on22 comments 121 views last activity

It's no secret that The Nightmare is kind of an underwhelming killer, with a lot of room for improvement- so let's take a look at what that improvement might look like! For the purposes of this thought experiment, we're going to be assuming that simply reverting Freddy back to his original incarnation is completely off the table. We're doing this for two reasons: it seems like the kind of change0 comments 11 views last activity

Pretty much just the title. It seems to me like it losing power gradually as totems are cleansed would be pretty reasonable counterplay already, so is it really that necessary for it to also still have an associated lit totem? Having it be permanently in play until all (maybe all but one to accommodate for this change) totems are destroyed would allow it to be much sturdier as a counter to boon5 comments 81 views last activity

So, I'm going to lay out my own position first so nobody's engaging under false pretences- while I don't think NOED is necessarily "fine", I think that it is by no means OP, unfair, or unhealthy. I think it's a mediocre, inconsistent perk that provides very little value at a point in the game where you're running up against the clock to actually use that value. So, Bubba has now lost his masks, and I think it's for the best that we all accept that they're not coming back- and frankly, I think we should all come to terms with the fact that, while unlockable cosmetics are a cool idea in concept, the masks... weren't that great? Only one of them made him look substantially different, which was the one that sparked all of this to begin with. With that in m5 comments 81 views last activity

I realised that I've not actually talked about what I'd want to see for making solo queue better, and while I don't have that many ideas, I do think it's worth sharing the thoughts that I do have since that was quite explicitly requested by the devs themselves! So, for a little context, I personally play Killer a lot more than I play Survivor, but when I do take on that other role it's alway1 comments 21 views last activity

I mentioned this in another thread, but I think it warrants its own post. Quite often when the concept of removing the perk tiers mechanic is raised, it's mentioned in the context of reducing the grind- as it was in the latest QnA stream. I've been thinking a lot recently about how weak hexes are right now- not unusable by any means, but certainly flagging a little compared to where they could be. There are a lot of things that could be done to fix this, but in my opinion, there are two things that would be the best fix- one big fix, one small fix. Starting with the small fix... Currently, Iron Will reduces the sound of your grunts of pain by 100%. No Mither has, among its many effects, reducing your grunts of pain by 75%. What if those two were swapped? You'd get lower grunts of pain by running Iron Will if you wanted, something that would be useful but wouldn't guarantee that you'd be inaudible while injured, and in exchange the hefty downside of No Mither's perma-Bro8 comments 92 views last activity

DISCLAIMER: I have done my best not to give any hard numbers when it comes to distances and percent slowdown, as I have never been particularly good at gauging distance in DBD. Any numbers I do give are also not set in stone! The Drowned has standard Killer stats, moving at 115% and being of average height with a 32m Terror Radius. Bringing a level one character into a trial is a pretty bad idea in general - kinda bad for survivor depending on which survivor and thus what perks they have, but a tremendously bad idea for killers - and the main reason for that is the ability to only bring one perk even though they start with three in their inventory. The nerf to keys' effectiveness at ending the game prematurely was sorely needed, but has the unfortunate side effect of leaving keys as kind of a useless item in the bloodweb for the majority of players. Speaking anecdotally, I've only really ever seen keys in my lobbies when paired with a hatch offering from someone who's attempting an Adept achievement, and that's a pretty niche situation for1 comments 12 views last activity

When it was initially positioned on the PTB and once it hit live, I thought that Grim Embrace was a pretty meh perk that you're not going to really see that much use out of- a meagre effect, gained by doing something that might not happen for a little while depending on how the game progresses. The length of time is pretty short, so even if you can hook all four players quickly, you don't get tha21 comments 201 views last activity

It's no secret that Monstrous Shrine is a pretty bad perk. Certainly one of the most useless, though it's saved from being the absolute worst by at least not actively being a detriment... Still, with the release of Scourge Hooks, I started thinking... what if Monstrous Shrine was reworked to be a utility perk for that mechanic, similar to how Undying and Thrill of the Hunt work for hex totems? I love it. This is a definite step up from the Halloween event, in my opinion- while the mini rift was very nice, I didn't find the pumpkins to be especially transformative elements of the trial, and I didn't like how few BP you got for interacting with the themed hooks/generators. This, though, very nearly completely nails it- the interactive element is both more impactful and much funnier than7 comments 31 views last activity

Would BNPs be quite as big of a deal as they are right now if they consumed the whole toolbox on use, not just themselves? I feel like that'd at least cut down on how annoying stacking a green toolbox with an extra charge addon is, though perhaps it's just a bandaid solution to a wider problem. Now, Homestuck is not very likely to be added to DBD as a full license. Maybe some licensed cosmetics, but that's probably about as much as BHVR would want to implement. With that being said, though, it's always fun to speculate! I've said this before in a few posts, but I think there's value and merit in making it a post of its own for more ease of access to whoever may want to see it. The Trapper's Tar Bottle addon was once one of his strongest, even in the days when you were required to bring a Bag addon just to stand a fighting chance, the Tar Bottle was among the strongest that you could bring alongside it. The suite of changes that the Trapper received recently were an amazing start that leave him in a much, much better place, but I believe that we can just push him the last few inches into being in an extremely solid position. Due to the fundamental way he's designed, he's never going to be a top tier killer, and I think that's fine; I just want him to be performing at the best his current design2 comments 21 views last activity
