  • Here are some better Freddy builds...

Class Reunion - Remember Me, Rancor, NOED, Brutal Strength, Class Photo, Black Box. Offer Shroud of Separation to make sure the obsession can't wake up right away (and to spook survs into thinking it's a mori for extra gen rush). Basically just tunnel the obsession all game, let the other 3 rush gens. Let them DS you, drop reset them. Get them to drop pallets so you can eat them all with BS. If you did it right, at end game most of the pallets will be gone, you will have 6 tokens of RM, then you just mori the obsession. If they have Adren that actually is good for you because you can sleep them and see where the others are hiding with CP before you mori. If not, just find one (usually by a gate) go around and sleep the others with CP, then slug them with NOED. Obsession gets tunneled the entire game and mori'd without a hook, the other 3 rush gens only to get 1 hooked.

Dream Catcher - Dying Light, Play With Your Food, Ruin, Haunted Grounds, Class Photo, ZBlock. Offer a mori to kill the obsession faster but if you play smart you don't need it. Basically find a survivor and sleep them. Go around and sleep the others until you find the obsession. Tunnel them to a hook, if they are a good looper get 3 tokens of PWYF and looping is impossible. Ruin is there to buy time, HG is there to protect Ruin and give you a potential one shot on the obsession. Zblock is there to hide that you have CP at least until DL procs (if they know then they can potentially counter this build). The entire goal of this build is to proc DL super fast, and once you do then you win. As long as you keep them slept with CP they won't finish a single gen after DL procs. Do whatever you want, you basically have infinite time to kill now.

Both of these builds are insanely powerful. Give them a try.

  • Maining Trapper this month. My build is BBQ, Thanatophobia, Sloppy, NOED, Trapper Bag + Trapper Gloves. The plan is to use Thana + Sloppy to slow the game down enough to get a kill or 2, then clean up with NOED if necessary. BBQ for tracking/finding new targets and keeping tabs on surv activity.

My surv build is Iron Will, Balanced, Adren, and BT. I won't rush hooks, BT is there just because there have been a lot of campy/tunnely killers during the event. Otherwise I run Empathy.

My favorite killer build to run is Shadowborn, Stridor, Whispers, Blood Warden. First two are to see and hear better, Whispers can almost be like "I can smell you better", and BW just in case you need it and because it totally crushes a survivor's soul if they run into it. On Nurse I call it Grave Digger.

  • Flamethrower, no. Something to do with fire, that would be cool. Maybe like a zoning killer, similar to Hag or Trapper that can use fire to block off an area.

  • @Sinner said:
Tbh, Freddy is actually a pretty decent killer. I've never understood all the complaints and always had the feeling that killers complain about him simply because he cannot camp very well and because of how easy it is to get unhooked and escape when exit gates are open.

Other than that I find him very strong in a chase. He lands a first hit faster than any other killer, because he can mindgame very effectively when he makes his appearance. He does very well in chases, since he is so small and it's hard to see where he is going. And his power can be very effective to stall the game if you use the skill check add-ons.

He also has the luxury of breaking chases whenever he wants because he can still keep tabs on you. As long as they aren't injured the only way to wake up is fail a gen or find another survivor, and if you pay attention to what they are doing you can just sleep them again when they wake up.

No. Just no. This would make Trapper OP. There is a reason Iri Stone is a pink add-on, it's crazy powerful. You put down one trap and shut down loops for the entire game. Sure someone can disarm it but then it comes back, so it's only worth doing if you really need to bypass a trap.

I did say it would respawn every minute to make it more balanced.

Still very strong. I put on stacked bags and hold all my traps, with only 2 or 3 on the map at any time I can abuse the timer.

Trapper just needs to start/carry 2 traps at base, and needs a way to reset traps already placed. Also a rework of his more useless add-ons (dyes, coils, and jaws). That would make him plenty viable.

  • @Master said:
    lul

Try it. It is a very strong build, especially against gen rush. You just have to be on top of Discordance when it procs, but that's 2 or more asleep each time.

  • @Iceman said:
I think swf should have a downside to it. I suggested before that swf should be limited to their perk load out. Unlike solo players, swf can not use the same perks. This will increase the team to be more diverse with their perk load out.

This is exactly what I've been saying. SWF should be about team builds, not 4 solo builds with comms.

  • Because people shouldn't be allowed to play with their friends. LMAO

All this would do is make people DC when the first guy gets mori'd instead of at the start of the trial. I don't see the point in completely hiding the offering, sometimes it's good to know that killer DOES NOT have a mori.

What they need to do is add more secret offerings so you don't know what was offered. Only secret offerings for killer are mori's and shroud, and only secret offerings for surv are shrouds. So when you see them it's a pretty good guess what it is. If there were more secret offerings you wouldn't be able to guess it as easily.

People would still DC as soon as they seen the secret offering.

This here basically, I would rather have survivors DC later than sooner and if a lot of offerings were secrets, they will still DC when the survivor first is mori'd anyways. Therefore, it's still the same case to be honest @thesuicidefox.

A DC is a DC, it really doesn't matter when it happens. The only time it doesn't matter is if the guy is on last hook or something because they are already dead at the point (though it can deny a killer BBQ aura or HL tokens for example so in some cases it can still be detrimental to the game).

Besides the fact I almost never see someone DC when killer offers a mori, all you do by making secret offerings completely hidden is screwing over honest players. If you don't DC then you would want to know killer MIGHT have a mori. That is very important information as it changes surv tactics. They will be more immersed after a hook (ie. less gen rushing) and play more scared in a chase (ie. they could waste pallets or sandbag another surv to stay alive). It would be seriously stupid if you all of sudden get mori'd, with absolutely no warning, because you have no way to counter play.

Just think about how stupid it is to get DS'ed by a non-obsession, that's basically the same thing but for killers now. And no, I'm not saying non-obsession DS is okay by any means, in fact I've said many times elsewhere that only the obsession should be able to even use DS for this exact reason.

    It's cheesey design, period.

You want to stop players from DC'ing because of a secret offering? PUNISH DC'S HARDER! That makes way more sense, since people will DC for literally anything nowadays.

    @thesuicidefox
Honestly speaking, the purpose of this thread is make secret offerings better since they aren't a secret anymore. However, since DCs will be more of a problem then they do need to punish DC'ing harder. Furthermore, If survivors wanna be a sore loser and DC over a mori then they can suit themselves because they will get banned eventually. I been annoyed by moris before but I never EVER DC'd because I been mori'd, it's just unsportsmanlike and I'm not that type of player.

They aren't secret because there isn't enough secret options to make it any sort of guessing game. Killer has 4 secret options (excluding splinters). 3 of them are mori, and 1 is a shroud. Survivors have 3, all shrouds. Where is the guessing game? There is none. Make more secret offerings for each side, that would make secret offerings better because now you are trying to figure out what was offered.

  • "Spam looping"

Right I forgot, survivors should just run in a straight line and never do anything to make you waste time or avoid getting caught.

Maybe don't chase survivors to strong loops. Know when to break the chase and look for someone else. "BuT tHeY aLl RuN tO lOoPs"... eventually you will catch them out of position and/or they will make a mistake you can capitalize on. Focus on protecting unsafe gens where they can't just run to a good loop right away.

  • I would rather yellow mori allow you to also kill the obsession (as if using a green mori) along with it's normal effect too. It's more fair and makes yellow mori something valuable to the killer, since so many survs want to run DS.

Right no one would abuse this and just set it to the absolute highest setting. Not like FOV helps you find survivors better or anything 😏

Shadowborn should not be the default. It can actually make a huge difference, especially for killers like Nurse. There is a reason your FOV is limited to what it is.

    So what would be wrong?
Other games allow you to do this aswell and DBD isnt even a competitive game

Uhhh because the higher the FOV the more of an advantage killer has... if you let them all killers would just play at the highest available FOV for the maximum advantage.

Like really you that blind to how FOV affects the game? This isn't COD, your FOV as killer makes a huge difference and is something that is specifically set for gameplay purposes.

  • Stupid achievement is stupid. How the devs didn't foresee the BS that comes with getting it is beyond me.

  • IMO killers should aim to be just below Huntress. She is one of the most balanced killers in the game (excluding pink hatchets). Any killer worse than her needs to be buffed. Any killer better than her should maybe be nerfed but it's probably actually better to just leave them alone. The only killer that should even be considered for a nerf is Nurse, and that's still a big MAYBE.

Clearly you're just a salty survivor at this point. NOED isn't that big of a deal. Maybe killers are being toxic to you because you REEEEEE in end game chat.

Don't you think if a killers getting 4k every match (for example) and still uses post-gen perks to make sure the team dies is not overkill? Or to the very least makes them look like an ass?

It is overkill but they have no way to know before hand. Some games go super fast and NOED is almost necessary, other games it's not needed but procs anyway. I always feel bad for the groups where 1 or 2 of them barely make it to end game, but that's offset by the groups that blaze through gens and now I kind of need it to keep pressure.

If you need the pressure then use it. If you for example play fine without it than clearly you don't need it.

There's a difference between needing something and not needing something, but I guess that points never looked on.

Some games you don't need it, but some game you do need it. You have no way to know before the game starts. If they rush gens or just split the map then you are screwed as killer. You can't pressure in those situations.

  • I've come to accept NOED, as dumb as it is when it helps bad killers. It's there as a counter to gen rush, and against certain killers I've just come to accept it.

The only thing that still bothers me about NOED is that there is no tell for it. Most if not all perks have a tell, something that gives away you have the perk, but not NOED. For as powerful as it is, it needs a tell. I've suggested before something small like it changes the color of gen sparks for a short time or maybe it causes an extra totem to spawn. Something that an astute survivor can see and go "that's NOED, better cleanse totems" but not something so obvious that you will never get it to proc. Then makes them waste time which is ultimately what I want as killer. The one shot at end game is nice, but if the threat of NOED can force the survivors to slow down I'd rather that. Mainly because if I can secure at least 2 kills before end game I don't feel like I need NOED, and in fact it almost feels like cheese at that point. Only time I actually want NOED is if all 4 survivors make it to end game, because that usually means gen rush.

This. If they come into the game with the plan for the survivor to rat out others to the killer then it's bannable.

But if you sandbag other survivors by pointing at lockers or run to them with Bond to avoid the killer taking you it's not bannable. After all the saying goes "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun YOU".

me as a survivor, strode's house is extremely good to looping windows with BL.

I love using Strode Key as survivor. This map is the bane of most killers and BL opens up SO many loops at the buildings.

But as killer I absolutely cannot stand this map 🤣 Mainly because it creates serious frame rate issues for me, but also because it sucks for a lot of killers. However I found that it's actually a GOOD map for Trapper because he is the only one that can shut down the house loops with traps, on top of making it literally IMPOSSIBLE to go out onto the awnings.

It stands at the top for having the most framerate issues. Playing Doc here is atrocious. Huntress gets short ended too. I agree with you on Trapper, though. Had a couple of good games there some time ago, trapping stairs and usual hiding places.

I still wouldn't burn the offering playing as him though, as I find The Game a better map for Trapper. All those dropzones...

I've been a Trapper "main" since the last reset and I find it very interesting that despite being a very middle tier killer, unlike literally every other killer in the game he has no "bad maps". Maps that would be considered bad for other killers are neutral or even good for him just because he can shut down the strong loops. For example, I hate Grim Pantry as most killers, but for Trapper you can make the main building, shack, and the tiny house VERY unsafe and negate the advantages the map normally brings for survivors. TBH the map I have the most trouble with as Trapper is Shelter Woods only because there's no real "great" spot to set traps. It's shack or jungle gyms. Still very neutral for him.

Even the Game where his traps are easily seen can be a neutral map for him. Put a trap in the doorway of the bathroom and anyone that you chase through the hole is cornered. Put a trap at the top of the steps to the "pig shredder" drop point and you will almost always catch someone. Put traps in doorways to blood room or freezer and you will probably catch people. Plus he can also just put traps at pallets like normal.

  • I agree, this is the best event so far in terms of design. Could up the point earnings a bit for killer, but otherwise it's good. You just play the game normally for the most part. I really hate the Hallowed Blight event because no one played normally during the event. Survivors would just rush plants then die to go on to the next, and there were so many boosted killers after that it was sad. It's better than the BBQ/past Lunar events because you don't need to focus on specific gens/hooks, which also made people play abnormally and it was a bit lame. If we get more events like this one in the future I would be very happy.

You're talking about when they use an insta-heal and somehow time it so it happens AFTER they go down, correct?

    Correct.

Yea, then I agree it shouldn't be a thing. However I think it has to do with connection and not the game. One of the recent clip compilation videos (I think it was JenD's) had a clip where a Billy chainsawed a Meg on a gen JUST as it was finished and her Adren proc'd and she got up instantly. To me that's lag, which isn't something you can easily fix. Dedicated servers might fix it when they come around, but it might not.

Like there have been times I jump through a window from the second floor of a house on Haddonfield and get hit by the killer as I'm falling. That shouldn't happen either, but it's something beyond the control of the developers honestly because it's mostly connection based.

People will find things you didn't even think of that completely destroy your perfectly balanced house of cards, now you have to go back to the drawing board.

Main points: This has been done before and didn't work. Incentivize killers to leave a hook by rewarding them, not punishing them.

    That is all.

  • No to all this. The only one I could agree with is the add-ons for skill checks, that's a good one.

RBT is based on RNG. Keep in mind for every survivor that gets the trap on the first box you have another survivor that gets it off on the last box. But as killer you never notice this, you only notice when they do it super fast. Play survivor against a Pig (a GOOD Pig) and you will see why all your ideas for RBT buffs are bad.

  • Purple fog. They are absolutely worthless as killer.

"But DUUUURRRRRRR you can use it for Wraith to hide him better"...

No I still see you very easily dude. You're just making it harder to find me. The only time this can even SLIGHTLY benefit you as killer is if you have aura reading add-ons, but even then if will be super hard to track survivors in a chase.

The most useless add-ons has to be any of the Nurse add-on that remove a blink. You turn a God tier killer into a ######### tier killer instantly.

Most don't even bother with a message after the game due to XBL strict enforcement of comm bans. Say a bad word or something and you WILL be comm banned very swiftly if that message is reported. There are some that send salty messages but most send back a GG if I send them a GG. I've even made friends with survivors I had in my killer games and vice versa.

VOICE COMMUNICATION IS THE STRONGEST TOOL SURVIVORS CAN HAVE!!!
No matter how many limits you put for SWF's, they will be still much much stronger than solo survivors. Either find a way to block voice communication (which will never happen, devs don't have the power and people will always find a way around it) or just accept it if you really want a balanced game. Period.

Exactly so buffing solo won't fix the problem as much as it just breaks the balance that is already there. If you buff solo survivor you have to buff killers. If you buff killers, you have to buff solo survivors AGAIN because SWF is still too good. It creates a runaway power problem until you end up with a game where everything is OP and that's not actually balance believe it or not. If you play an FPS and start everyone with the most absolute powerful weapon in the game (eg. Rocket Launcher in Halo), on paper that's "balanced" but you sacrifice the core design of the game to do it. Playing Halo where everyone has RL is a fun offshoot of the normal game, but it'd be quite awful if that were the normal game. The game just becomes a chaotic mess where skill really doesn't matter. That's what you get by going the route of "buff everything to match SWF". It's an impossible task that ends up ruining the game.

Like, Nurse is the most powerful killer in the game but in some ways she breaks the core design of the game and is therefore OP in a sense. That means if you want to make other killers viable Nurse SHOULD NOT BE THE GOALPOST TO AIM FOR. By doing that you just make every killer ridiculously OP, and then need to buff survivors to compensate. It makes WAY more sense to aim for killers to be somewhere around Billy (or maybe even a bit weaker than Billy) or even nerf the Nurse because you're not getting that runaway power effect. You have a reasonable goal for balance where the game's core design still means something.

Exactly Mr obvious, if genrush is norm for solo and swf, devs can go and just buff every killer without holding back and having fear to destroy the solo experience.
U can't nerf swf, voice communication is the strongest tool they have and devs CAN'T nerf discord. Even if they would nerf SWF so they only can use one perk and start injured, they will still stomp the killer and will be still better than solos with 4 meta perks and fully healed. That's just basic knowledge you get after playing enough.

No what you are asking is that they ruin the part of the game that actually works. SWF can be nerfed by imposing limits. Buffing solo and then buffing killers would just destroy the core experience. Not to mention that no amount of buffing killers would balance them against SWF. It would just make solo need even MORE buffs to compensate, and then it's a never ending series of buff to solo/buff to killer. That's dumb. I can't fathom how you would want to break the actual balanced part of the game just for the sake of SWF. It makes way more sense to nerf SWF in some way, even if it's not perfectly balanced it's better than constantly changing the game.

But you miss the point that the meta is genrush. And you don't need that much perks for this meta. All the perks you mentioned like DS and adrenalin are perks to make it just even more annoying and carries bad swf teams

Ya... hence why it makes sense to limit those perks for SWF. If they are limited then they can't abuse stacking.

And you can gen rush just fine as solo. It doesn't need buffs, because then it breaks the game like SWF does. Solo should be left as it is, SWF is the problem and needs changing.

You can't change SWF because you have no control on it. Any change on that front is a lost battle. Buffing solo is much more safe. Obviously, after the change, killers should be balanced too, so don't compare to the current "killer vs swf" state. Imagine like if you balance killers only around swf (easier task to do for devs).

Yes you can change SWF by IMPOSING LIMITS ON THEM! What a concept?

Buffing solo would just unbalance the only balanced part of the game. That is ass-backwards game design. You don't buff the balance part to make it broken, you nerf the broken part to make it balanced. To say they have no control over SWF because comms is honestly quite stupid.

Then you want to buff killers too? So basically do twice the work it would take to simply nerf SWF? Because that makes sense SMH

Genrush of swf is superior to solo. Just imagine this scenario: someone gets hooked. Noone knows who's saving or not. Noone even knows if the killer camps or not. Everyone leaves the gens to go for the unhook wasting time instead on beeing on gens. With kindred basekit or SWF this won't happen

Ya so why make Kindred base kit? Basically you are making SWF type gen rush the norm at this point. It makes way more sense to limit SWF in some capacity than.
