What can I say, it is a talent unrivaled by others.
Oh it definitely can be rivaled by others. Apex legends is one such example.

I'm sorry those survivors were mean.

We aren’t responsible for their behavior so we don’t have to apologize.

It's the new hit validation system. Basically on your screen, you see a hit and the game reacts accordingly and then goes to VAR and says LOL JK!!! and rolls back the hit. But it already played the effect and had the blood splatter so the game is hoping you don't notice.
That's so you don't notice it unless it gets validated.

I'm sure we're all aware that sometimes you'll get the pallet hit validation bug — where the sound of a survivor is injured/downed happens at a pallet but you get stunned and it prioritizes the stun over the hit and they don't get injured/downed?
Well I just got out of a match where this actually happens with Head On too. Had a Jane hiding around a locker and I lunge m1 and hit her, but I got head on'd by the Steve in the locker after the hit and it did the same sort of thing. The scream, the blood, but no injured status.
I unfortunately didn't have my instant replay on to capture it but has this happened to anyone else?
It’s not just pallet validation, it’s just regular hit validation here. You got stunned according to the server before it received your input (which was you hitting the survivor).

I get mad when survivors use all meta perks, because they don't really need them. Killers I'm fine with. What I do get mad about across the board is when people win with those perks and puff their chests and act like it was all skill, when I can count the moments in the match where a perk bailed them out rather than their own game sense.
Yeah cause that blight/spirit/nurse definitely needs ruin pop undying tinkerer.

From the way I recall from a mod post from when there were a lot of threads about this maybe a month ago, this is not correct.
It's built to show you the animation and play the sound immediately based on what your system perceives as player locations. It THEN checks with the server to see who validated first. Did that survivor activate the pallet early enough against your lunge? The theoretical way it works is, if the pallet has enough time, after the survivor clicks it, to drop halfway, you should miss the lunge, regardless of the animation on your screen.
It's unfortunate but... it's been the other way a long time. Survivors would slam the pallet, run 20 feet and fall down (on the survivor's screen). I'm sure it looked like you got the perfect hit on the killer's screen but... it was just validating differently.
There have been fewer complaints of this particular pallet issue that I've seen lately, so it seems that killers have adjusted their strategy as there are certainly plenty of killers on forums and subreddit claiming to be top-tier. Maybe they could give you some tips.
The hit is always being validated, the feedback is played immediately however that way you only notice it if they had better ping at an interactable like a pallet.

I want to ask where in @th3 's comment or mine we're justifying DCing to Spirit
Pretty presumptuous of them to automatically assume any comment that isn't in lockstep "<survivor> bad" like the majority of their posts are is a biased entitled <survivor> main.

Not directly, no, but many users have taken to add links where you can donate money to them. In this case it's just begging for Steam points, which aren't worth real money, but it's still a form of profit. Besides, who's to say this person won't just start adding links begging for real money?
That’s true and I did not realize that, I hope this can get resolved soon.
-
Huntress has a lullaby because she is a ranged killer, Nemesis is not a ranged killer.
-
Considering there is no profit gained from guides on steam why would it need to be removed?

Nope, he spoke about the new version.
Nope he 100% spoke about the previous version and how they weren’t done with changes to it. Time stamp on this is at the 1:36:00 mark where the design director discusses this. Please rewatch that specific part of the anniversary livestream because clearly you missed it.

Judging by how a BHVR official called this useless mori version toxic in the 5th anniversary live, I wouldn't say the same.
He called the old version toxic and said thats why they wanted to make mori's a natural part of the trial rather than the killer bringing an offering to be able to mori people.

I like getting a mixed bag of players. It reminds me of how a real horror movie plays out. Of course it’s frustrating when you’re the one hanging on a hook for an hour while Bill hides in a locker, but that’s totally what someone would do in a movie. He’s like, “I’m not going out there! There’s a psycho with a chainsaw running around!”
Also, I don’t really care about ranking and winning, so my opinion is probably wrong.
Thats a sure fire way for me to stop playing if I keep getting brand new teammates. It’s incredibly frustrating knowing the killer will just focus them out of the game to win and there’s ######### all I can do about it.
Also this isn’t a movie it’s a game, and it’s not scary.

I have no idea, their contract must have been garbage. Imagine agreeing to the removal of all those resources because you were desperate to get... Stranger Things... in the game. Yikes.
Because at the end of the day it’s Netflix’s intellectual property, not BHVR’s. If Netflix wants to cancel their agreement with BHVR that’s entirely within their right to do so, especially with these licenses being short term and frankly there isn’t much bhvr can do if a license holder no longer wants to have their ip in bhvr’s game.

It's not going to make a difference there is no "give it time to settle" it has supposedly been on in the background collecting data for a year now. It should already know where everyone is because everyone probably has 1000 plus games of data that it has tracked. MMR (or really elo, which MMR effectively is) is a system that doesn't require that many games to figure out your rating, this is why it works, usually it takes around 25 to get your rating where it should be.
Read up on Elo for chess and how it works. Specifically the section on "k-value" which explains how it figures out your rating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system#Most_accurate_K-factor Almost every online multiplayer game that uses, elo or MMR is using some derivative of elo just with their own special sauce.
Basically though, k-value determines how fast your rating changes, the higher the value, the faster the change. It settles to "10" for a kvalue after just 30 games, because after 30 games, they are pretty confident at what your rating should be. Granted this is for chess, but the concept is still similar:
K = 40, for a player new to the rating list until the completion of events with a total of 30 games and for all players until their 18th birthday, as long as their rating remains under 2300.
K = 20, for players with a rating always under 2400.
K = 10, for players with any published rating of at least 2400 and at least 30 games played in previous events. Thereafter it remains permanently at 10.
You've been matched in the past by the rank system which as we know was never a true accurate measure of skill. Now your mmr is based off of the matches you had while being assessed on the rank system. It needs time to settle because you are now solely being matched off of skill and that rating you have is now being changed appropriately rather than being boosted from the previous system.

Killer can just cheese the exposed status effect if they find the person with the box.
Nah.

If I notice you are trying to stealth it out I'll specifically make sure you don't escape. Your teammate who is pulling their weight, I'll just fail to get them in time.

Thank you for saying what needs to be said.

Nah when I've tried to do it to prevent a crash the killer just tries tunneling me and starts bm'ing. Fed up with it and frankly I don't get a dc penalty, so no real incentive.

when its starting a chain hunt without being prompted by the cenobite

Yeah they got rid of reverse pallet stuns.

If the box reaches the yellow state then it tends to crash the killer. From what I've seen, so I've been kidnapping the box.

Killers should absolutely not be add-on dependent.
Agreed and I did not say they should be addon dependent, just that not running addons on them is not the desired outcome of the design.

Yeah I'm going to have to disagree with this.
I've gotten several 4ks in red ranks without add-ons.
The point I am making is not that you cannot win at a higher level without addons, but that addons are meant to be used on killers. There is a clear distinction with what I said, please read through it more carefully next time.
-
Nope, and everyone will be grateful.
Also killers aren't meant to be played without addons.

I am pretty sure they help. Try playing without perks then.
I use a perk randomizer which has a luck factor, which is set to negative so it gives me bad builds and I do just fine. Keeps it fun.
-
Doesn't really matter whether I run meta perks or not, I'm not carried by my perks.
-
I wouldn't be as excited either, considering it isn't a chapter. A chapter is one killer and one or two survivors being added to the game along with a new map.
-
Just hide the names thats it.

How will the Adept Killers change? The pip requirements changing at different rank colors made them harder as you reached higher ranks. Will they just change as you reach a new grade color or is there a new system for them?
Seems like its the same system as before, except when you lose pips you no longer go down a grade color. A similar example of this would be Apex Legends with its ranked league, you get demotion protection points and can't go back to bronze 1 when you hit silver 4.

It's almost well balanced, it will become better if it deactivates on interactions with lockers and exit gates too. Right now it's indeed easy to abuse and is mostly used to bully the killer.
Its fine as is now, lockers is a play survivors can make to force its use. Just like killers can slug to run out its timer.

Joining a lobby with 200 ms+ is certainly not being placed in a fair ping match.
Of course not, but lets just be real here. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been placed into a lobby and my connection has exceeded 100ms. Unfortunately it has happened, the system isn't perfect. The Dev's themselves prioritize getting you into a lobby fast with fair connection and ranks come third in that consideration. But this making sure that among all of the people connecting to the server the ping is as balanced and fair as it can be, if it can connect you at 20ms but someone else is at 120ms it'll try and find the best possible connection for both you and the other person.
Again read the documentation I attached to understand how Gamelift can handle matchmaking players with connection.

Clearly it would be broken, applying pop to 3 gens at once.

No one would have complained, if they kept Undying the way it was, but removed the aura reading.
But they removed the respawn and kept the aura reading, which doesn´t seem like a problem now. At least no one is complaining about the aura reading of Undying.
Plus the weird addition of a notification telling you there's undying when you go near a dull totem, they added that for some reason as well.
-
@Tsulan said:
A buff would be nice. Especially to Undying, which was nerfed to hard.
So maybe reverse the change?
EDIT: Before i forget it. Why did you do another thread on the same topic from yesterday?
Undying is fair now, it guarantee's your first totem broken is never ruin (which is what the main complaint was about totems before undying asides from crappy spawns). What it did at release was just stupid, vision on all totems allowing you to see when exactly a survivor tried breaking it was just dumb. Let alone the inane comments "It makes killers play healthier".
It didn't. I had match after match 99% of the killers during this time (September-February) slug at 5 gens and play like sweatlords.
TLDR; Reversing the nerf is a bad idea, the months during ruin undying tinkerer were some of the most miserable games I've played in solo queue ever.

It's not incorrect if it's what I want for the game. Every action being determined by the player with the best ping would be an incredibly healthy change. The dedicated servers are barely stable. You could live next to them and still be getting 80+ ms.
The matchmaking places you in matches that have the fairest ping, it won't place you in a different continent but it also has to place your teammates or opponents as well so everyone has a fair connection. Your description of what you wanted was blatantly incorrect because the host was the killer, and the killer was able to manipulate their connection to gain an advantage over the survivors.
TLDR: P2P was not "determined by the player with the best connection to the lobby." It was determined by the killer who could manipulate their connection to gain an advantage. The Dedicated servers can't just place you at the closest server when the other player's ping is also taken into consideration when matchmaking you.
I stand by what I said, you are blatantly not understanding how it works. If you want resources to help understand what exactly is being used I recommend reading this
-
Majority of blight players run ruin undying tinkerer with double speeed addons. What's even better is some of the hits they make are so ludicrous its aggravating. Like it just looks so jank to get hit while the blight is looking the complete opposite direction.
-
@DetailedDetriment said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2463830#Comment_2463830
I'd rather go back to peer-to-peer and have everything be determined by the player with the best ping in the lobby. This way, players who are laggy for any abundance of reasons will not receive unfair advantages.
Actually it was all determined by the host, which was the killer. Which is why lag switching killers were often complained about. Even since the Dedicated Servers hit priority was given to the killer regardless of their ping. Now its based off of who has the fastest connection to the server they are connected to. What you said is blatantly incorrect.
@LordRegal said:
Agreed. I'm 100% ok with the rebalancing of the mechanic of pallet stun vs hit, but holy crap is it frustrating when the game says "yep, you got it, play the injured and splash sounds and splash blood on them" and then have the server deny it. Deny it or hit the survivor, don't make me think I've got it and then find out after I don't.
If they had the feedback delayed until each hit was validated I would lose my mind. The instant feedback means in the majority of your hits you won't notice anything because the feedback was instant, it only becomes noticeable when your input reaches the server after the survivors input did. Otherwise every hit would feel disconnected and janky even worse than it is now.
