Are you like purposely ignoring the point and gaslighting?

Why is it so unreasonable to request a simple no quick change at the last second before the match starts?

Because killers already have a huge advantage. They can see survivors, items, and adjust. Why do they need even more help?

  • @WexlerWendigo said:

Why is this a big deal? The killer has the advantage of info going into the match, whereas survivors have none.

Because nothing is enough for killers?

They just asked to have time to prepare themselve if there is X items in the lobby.

Killers just souldn't be allowed to counter Survivors' strategies. Would that make you happy?

Killers already can see what survivors they're going against, and what items they're bringing, and I have no problem with that. I'm not the one asking for more help, unlike OP. I didn't say the lobbies should change in any way or that killers shouldn't be able to prepare.

Let's get rid of chests - killers might not be ready for what survivors loot. No one can drop their item, either. It might throw off the killer.

If you lock my item in, I'm leaving the lobby. 99% of the time when I make a last second change, it's to take something OFF that I looted out of a game and don't want to bring in. And then killers will start complaining that people are leaving the lobbies. Killers just cannot fathom that not every survivor does things to screw them over because they do do everything they can to screw over survivors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pointless and aggressive hyperbole that adds nothing to the discussion

Killers already have the huge advantage of seeing survivors and their items before the game. But that's not enough. We should get rid of chests too. Survivors might loot something killers weren't ready for. We shouldn't be able to swap items either. It might throw off killers. They need even more help, apparently. Nothing is enough for killers. Literally nothing.

That isn't what they said at all though? I'm pretty sure the lobby was designed so the killer could prepare. So yeah, it feels pretty unfair when they switch at the last second giving you no time to prepare.

Not sure why you immediately had to be so goddamn dickish about it when they have a pretty valid complaint.

    I don't think it's a valid complaint at all, so sure, I guess I'm a dick.

Killers can see what survivors bring into the game ahead of time, but survivors shouldn't be allowed to switch their items? Are you actually kidding me? Do you want the devs to just hold your hands? Load into the game and just have evert survivor die? Not everything is about screwing killers over, even though you all seem to think it is.

  • I had six friends who all quit because match making in our SWFS so heavily favored killers we couldn't even get two gens done. Everyone complains about the highly skilled SWF and never mentions how ######### awful it is when you're trying to bring new people into this game. Which is odd, because games need new players, but it's a nightmare to bring a new friend into DBD.

  • I'll say what PC players say all the time...

    Just buy a console

  • It's kind of hilarious that you want anyone to explain their answers. It might be more complicated than yes or no.

  • They aren't necessarily holding the game hostage the way you think they are. I've had survivors too terrified to play on Swamp. They will hold out literally for an hour, unwilling to do a gen, waiting for someone else to die so they can get a hatch.

On RPD, they probably can't even find gens. I have 1,500 hours in this game and it took me 3-4 minutes to find a gen on Midwich the other day.

If they really aren't playing and they're intentionally holding you hostage, you probably would have already made back the BP from another game if you had just moved on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I doubt your skills are degrading, that is almost impossible, really. Between the latency and other changes that make the game even more survivor sided, what can you do? You will naturally perform worse.

It's never been easier to play killer, thank you for the laugh.

  • I had a game on some swamp map and my solo queue teammates blocked me three times. The killer tunneled me the whole game, didn't even try to hook anyone else, and three times they were the reason I went down, not the Bubba. He downed me four times but I wiggled because a brave Yui felt bad I kept getting tunneled and she took a hit for me.

I had another game where an injured Meg was running from a Legion, so I ran behind her. She threw the pallet which screwed me over, and I just stopped dead in my tracks, but so did the Legion. I looked at the Legion, then back to the pallet, then back to the Legion, then back to the pallet. Then she hit me, which made me laugh. We both were like, "can you believe this #########??"

Sadly, the more you play survivor, the more you'll realize your teammates do more harm than the killer. You could use Bond, that will help you always know where your ding dong teammates are, but if you're using comms, just plan ahead of time. If you're injured, tell him to just leave. Tell him you're taking the pallet or window and that he needs to just go. Or if he's in front of you, tell him not to throw the pallet, etc. He basically just needs to get better at the game. It sounds like he doesn't look behind himself in chase.

  • @The_BiggCheeze said:

The last 12 matches I've played of survivor have been nothing but Demogorgon aside from a Huntress at the start.

You have a couple MONTHS before Stranger Things is taken away. Not a couple days, not a couple weeks, MONTHS.

I understand spamming the map (as annoying as it is), but at least that's actually being removed from the game, unlike Demo who if you have him, you get to keep him.

Demo get's to stay, the map does not. Play the map to death, not the killer.

Bold of you to assume anyone could read a few sentences to know he's not being removed entirely. But yeah, I'm seeing him a ton, along with lots of Nancys and Steves. I don't mind Demo, he seems balanced to me, and he tends to be one of the least campy killers because of the portals. Not that they don't usually come right back, but it's better than most.

  • It's not even that console and switch players don't get to "enjoy" the PTB, but how much of our feedback matters when it's only tested on PC? And then how much of an advantage do PC players have on both sides over console players who never got a chance to try things out in the PTB? Just the devs showing their bias towards PC players, as always.

  • @Triadequinaxor said:

Her power is literally so easy to learn and use, and she can ignore pallets and vaults and such and just hit you anyways, theres no downside to her power, atleast nurse has fatigue, what does she have, you drop a pallet and then she hits you anyways because of "Dedicated servers". Pathetic gameplay, killers are so boring to play against these days and yes im a killer main. I switch to survivor once and get tunneled by the humming bimbo.

I find that most Huntresses struggle against me at pallets because the always assume I'm going to throw it and give them the easy hatchet. You have to either throw the pallets early against Huntress, or keep running, because they assume you're going to throw them. Most are better at long range than when I'm literally just running in a circle around a pallet and a rock.

Now that I have crossplay enabled, almost every PC Huntress slugs, which of course is really boring for me as a survivor. Luckily I don't come across them too often. I do kinda think Iri head is BS, but it's not going anywhere. And exhaustion hatchets (along with Clown's exhaustion bottles) shouldn't be a thing any more, but the devs won't ever remove those either.

  • @Gylfie said:

I hadn't thought of this as a problem before until it happened to me just now, but I died to the Pig's reverse bear trap on RCPD because I only physically made it to two of the boxes in time without any interference from the killer whatsoever. Had the second box been the correct one, I would have barely lived.

I will admit I lost some time trying to find my way around and that should get better as I get to know the map, but even then it's so big I don't think it's possible to make it to all of the boxes in time. The Pig didn't have any addons either. I feel like the reverse bear trap should pressure you off gens, but not actually kill you just because have bad RNG, which isn't typically a problem. On this map though...

Anyone else experienced anything like this before? Any other interesting/frustrating RCPD stories?

I get Pig on that map more than any other map for some reason, and they never use offerings. That map is just dogshit for everyone. I won the game for my teammates the other day (all three stopped doing gens, fully healed) so I finished the last two entirely by myself while injured (turns out you can keep playing the game while injured, who knew???) and then I died because I couldn't find the exit gate and that ######### maze of a "map."

  • Couldn't care less about keys when they've broken so many other things that take precent over that. Yes, I'm a survivor, but I'd love to see keys go. They ######### me over far more than they ever help me. But I'd also like to be able to play the game on console without the game freezing constantly.

  • Why don't PC players just stop reading the post-game chat?

    1. The total lack of QoL for solo survivors. They’ve made maybe one or two changes in the last 5 years to make solo survivor less bad, which is honestly pathetic. No, extremely poor effort things like adding a totem counter to Small Game aren’t a buff to solo queue.
    2. Most maps remain significantly unbalanced one way or another, mostly in favour of survivors. The fact that they updated the Coldwind maps and yet Cowshed remains as broken as ever is frankly sad. Haddonfield stays Haddonfield, which is just… lol.

Small Game was nerfed, unless you have trouble counting to five, I suppose. I used to always run Small Game, and it just does not work the way it used to. I've stopped running it entirely because I regularly cannot find all five totems. That used to NEVER happen. Not to mention they removed its ability to detect Hag traps, snares and dream pallets, and Trapper's traps.

  • no because i play on console and we don't matter :)

  • a few more weeks of the game the way it is on console, to be honest

  • I was in the same house as a teammate and I couldn't hear that she was on the gen. Sometimes the audio is just bugged. Or technician.

  • Solo queue teammates who are terrified to play

Oh and the freezing that it still not fixed for console players.

  • I'm going to have nightmares after seeing that.

  • I just wish survivors had a perk for BP the way killers have always had BBQ. WGLF is not even close, even after the buff that came more recently. And now that survivors are punished by losing add ons, with all the killers who are afk to derank or farm for challenges, it's BS

Don't understand what that has to do with what I said, however if something like that happens, which it probably does, then I agree, if you go out of your way to be a jerk to someone else and try and ruin their fun then yes, you are ruining the game for everyone else.

I mean, no. If one of my teammates does something that ruins the game for you, that affects me in no way. And if you let what others do in a multiplayer game ruin it for you, probably don't ever play any multiplayer games. It's no one's job to make sure you have a good time and that your feelings aren't hurt by a flashlight or crouching. So, that was my point (along with the fact that it's not just survivors).

It's not up to anyone else to control my feelings. People can do whatever they want. It doesn't ruin the game for me.

  • who cares? seriously who cares what anyone says in post-game chat?

devs, please remove the chat from PC players so they stop complaining on the forums about it, since they're incapable of just not reading it.

Escaping should be a challenge and rewarding. The killers should be overpower and scary and you should have to be carful how you play as a survivor to avoid and escape. You shouldn’t have time or the confidence to troll the killer. I’m convinced this is why killers are being tryhards, tunneling and camping so much. There’s been a dynamic shift.

(yes I just had a string of REALLY bad troll games)

ps: I know I’m gonna get some serious crap for this.

I'm not afraid to play a video game. That's the whole point of me playing a video game - actually playing. I'm sorry that some killers don't feel scary and powerful because I'm willing to play. I'm sorry that some people play this game expecting others to fear them and they don't get that. Truly, I'm sorry because that's just actually pathetic.

I had a killer facecamp me and hit me on the hook after running him for four gens. Was I not properly scared of him? Or was he pissed that he's dogshit and threw the game because he was too stubborn or lazy to find someone else? It's not my fault he chose to camp and tunnel. Killers camp and tunnel because they're bad at the game, and it works, because most survivors are bad at the game too.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

They are like that because of extra points but also mainly because they like bullying people, especially in a game where there's no IRL consequence for it and they have the safety of 3 other friends.

That's not what bullying is, but you're right about one thing - there are no IRL consequences for playing a game the way someone else might not like.

  • @TheGamingShaz said:

So recently I’ve fallen back in love with DBD and that’s mainly thanks to playing killer. I may not get the 4K every game but I am having fun and that’s the main thing, however, I’ve finally come across the type of survivors I see killer mains complaining about and my question is just simply why are survivors like this?

I was doing an old archive challenge that made me play as Trapper, I’m not good at all with him, I hardly play him (I’m a Pig and Nemesis main) but I want to do all the challenges so I played as him. I was enjoying myself somewhat until the end.

I think I got like 1 hook but I wasn’t really bothered, more concerned about the challenge, didn’t help that the survivors brought me to RPD but that’s not what got me, what got me is this. They were all at the gate and they opened it, I thought okay fair enough they’re out, I’m just gonna let them waste their own time and I’ll just keep resetting traps for a few extra points, the survivors then proceeded to COME BACK and start trying to blind me and clicky click their flashlights.

i don’t usually complain about flashlights because during the game it’s understandable, annoying but I get it, but at the point of the gates being opened and all the survivors are there, the game is over and there’s no need for that crap.

Its honestly survivors like that, that ruin the game for everyone else.

I had a Ghostface today chase me for four gens and then hit me on the hook while he facecamped me. Why are killers like this? It's killers like that that ruin the game for everyone else.

Yes, not a single freeze. I actually love SB now and i will still use it regardless if they fix DH.

Yeah this makes me think about how many killers complain about Dead Hard and what will happen if the devs ever destroy it like they do with other perks the killers complain about. I am always amazed that Balanced works 100% of the time. I can use it 3-5 times a game and it doesn't leave me exhausted on the ground like Dead Hard does literally every game, even before the devs broke it. Killers won't know what to do if survivors start using exhaustion perks that actually work 100% of the time.

  • I've been using Balanced since they broke the game for us. It doesn't freeze for me, unlike Dead Hard and Lithe.

Dead Hard freezes the game no matter who is using it. I should be able to use perks in the game, and my gameplay shouldn't be negatively affected by someone else using it, especially since I play crossplay (I don't miss 15 minute queues) and PC players have no reason not to use it.

We need to keep being vocal about how the game is still in a sorry state for console players.

  • Dead Hard is completely unusable on PS4. If you're playing killer, the game freezes when survivors use it. If you're survivor, it freezes when your teammates use it. If you try to use it, you freeze in place and are exhausted on the ground (which happened a lot before they broke the game with the RE chapter).

  • @dezzmont said:

I actually think they did a good job of removing all the second chance nonsense, but survivors still play like total trash. It is just they also are very effective at bullying killers into allowing them to play like trash through discourse about things like tunneling or camping:

If a SURVIVOR takes every advantage they are offered via misplay, the response is 'what are you expecting, them just letting you hit them?' Which is very accurate and true. But if a KILLER takes every advantage offered by misplay, they are a badguy 'preventing people from playing the game.'

Despite, you know... DBD being a game with player elimination and which deliberately includes a lot of mechanics that are intended to reward the killer by preventing survivors from playing the game for a bit if they make a mistake. Like it is most of killer gameplay to keep as few people playing the game at any one time as possible. So once you realize you are, in fact, intended to be mean as a killer and do as much as you can to keep survivors off balance, the game becomes like... actually fun, and you start to learn a lot more about how the killer-survivor dynamic actually works and what the survivors can REALLY do to mess with you, rather than bashing your head over and over again against binary mechanical power that is just saying 'no' to you.

You don't actually know what bullying means if you think survivors clicking flashlights is bullying.

  • @miketheratguy said:

I do find it lame that as survivor I can literally do three of the gens by myself as well as make a couple of hook saves but the person who just spends the whole game looping the killer gets more points than I do. The game rewards confrontation more than actual progress and goal achievement, which I think is kind of messed up.

As the person who regularly is found first and runs the killer for three gens, I never get the most points in those situations. You got to make saves, heal, work on gens (and possibly with someone, so even more points) do totems, search chests, while all I get is boldness points. The person who spends the whole game looping the killer is very good at the game, and got screwed over in BP, while you had a nice relaxing game and made more.

  • @coaltrain503 said:

They run in to every game carrying 4 billion extra lives, will lose every chase they get into in a matter of seconds, but still get their ass saved by one of the 4 billion extra lives they got. They then proceed to tbag and act all cocky because they think it means they're good, when they were just carried by their extra second chance perks. This game is the only game I know of that awards people for playing poorly (the survivors) and punishes the killer for playing well. If you chasee a survivor and win and one of their 4 billion extra lives kicks in, that was just wasted time for the killer, but yet another health state for the survivor. It's dumb.

    lmao

  • @VikingWilson said:

Goddamn it, could we do something about this? Get in one chase and a gen is done, turn around and another gen is done, down someone and yet another gen is done.

This is absolutely asinine. The winning strategy for killers is slug and tunnel and that's if they can catch someone holding W.

    Too. Much. Fun.

Do you have any idea how many games I have where my teammates literally won't even touch a gen? How many times I have to do the last two or three gens entirely alone? There's never any point in my running Prove Thyself, no one else does gens. I have had multiple games recently where I find my teammates waiting at the gate with one gen to go.

  • @gilgamer said:

There is no matchmaking at this point, and I dont think mmr will be any better based on how the last test went for me but now its invisible so we can't complain anymore, or I guess thats what bhvrs idea is.

Yeah MMR was kinda horrible for me. I dunno, I guess no matter what there are survivors who are too scared to play the game. I had two games during MMR where I was on a gen, one person got hooked with Kindred, and the other two were waiting at the gate. TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED.

I kinda wish they didn't have a ranking system at all. It's not like ranks mean anything, and bad players seem to think they're amazing if they hit rank one. I had someone with 56 total hours hit rank one as a survivor and they actually thought they were god tier.

  • @MrDrMedicman said:

I will de pip as many times as it takes to stop getting a full set of red survs. I'm rank 16, just got there. I'm NOT a good killer, I'm trying hag. I shoud not be running up against pros for every ######### match when I don't even have perks yet.

Any idea how many depips till I stop getting red ranks?

You will endlessly be depipping, my friend, and it will always happen. I rarely play killer, usually when a challenge is easier or when I've had killer dailies for six months straight and want to get rid of one. I'm almost always a level 20 killer and I get red and purple ranks and always have.

I disagree on the killers having more power to be toxic, it's def a 50/50 with flash lights, flash bangs, flash mines. those hurt man, and stun just as well as any pallet

What can survivors do that ends the game for the killer? And using things in the game is not being toxic.

  • One DC against a cheater would not give you a 24 hour ban. I personally have always thought the DC penalty is bad for the game, and I play way less now because of it. It's still unstable for me on PS4 and I get disconnected mid game and then boom, banned. Not to mention there's no way to deal with farmers or killers who are AFK which happens all the time because of challenges.

It sucks that you had to deal with cheaters but DBD will probably never remove the DC penalty. Killers need their BBQ stacks, who cares if it makes the game worse? Oh and also, this is not being "bullied." This is cheating and trolling in a video game.

  • Killers just need to start demanding total removal of the hatch. Under no circumstances do they want anyone to have a chance, ever. Just say it already.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

Tunneling and camping are a necessary evil in the absence of a major gameplay overhaul.

You know what's so funny about the It's Necessary Argument™? When I want out of a game, killers almost NEVER hook me. If it's NECESSARY to tunnel someone out of the game, why not take the free kill? I've had more than one killer tell me they knew I wanted out, so that's why they wouldn't hook me.

It's not necessary. It's a choice killers make because they're not that good at the game, and they don't care if they ruin the game for someone else.

Some can be fine, but so many are just outright awful. I tried a few times for Self-Deprecating Joke in a legit way, even throwing games but I just couldn't get it to set-up well for multiple reasons. Finally had to throw a game and try to farm with a Survivor in a match. Thankfully I got someone to work with me the first farm match I attempted. I like Clown, but for me personally, I'm not good enough/comfortable enough to pull off that Challenge without a farm.

There are other examples of past & current challenges that are just unfeasible without luck (sometimes a buttload of luck) throwing games or having to try to farm with a team.

Yep, the challenges are so bad it causes killers to farm and I don't blame them, but it does get boring. They cause survivors sometimes to go into games without any intention of actually playing because they need the hatch challenge. Or to sandbag a teammate because they want a flashlight save. I just think a lot of challenges need to be changed since this makes them money and therefore it will never be removed.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2440748#Comment_2440748

Yeah exactly, some of the challenges are extremely unhealthy and annoying.

But at least current challenges aren't as annoying as "do 4 gens with dark sense in a single match"

lol. True. But you know you just jinxed us and it will be coming. I got that challenge done on Preschool vs a Ghostface. It still haunts me. Clearly.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Well, you have to create Challenges which take some time to complete. The time between two Tome Levels is two or three weeks, so you need challenges which keep the players invested for some time, because it would be really bad design if the Challenges are done after a few hours of playing and then everyone waits almost two weeks for the next Level.

So you either create grindy challenges or difficult challenges. Even the difficult challenges are not that difficult in my opinion and since the Community was crying when challenges were a thing which cannot be completed in 2 Trials, because they are "so hard" or you "have to throw the game", we have a lot of grindy ones. I dont like them, but they are a necessary evil, if most players dont want hard, interesting challenges.

Yeah but if you add in queue times and the fact that most people have responsibilities outside of DBD, some of these challenges can take days to complete. Just one challenge. That's absurd.

  • @OldHunterLight said:
