To be fair a lot of people weren't able to access that map for a good long while based on performance issues, disconnects, and its temporary disabling.

To be less fair, a lot of other people don't really count it as a map because "TOO BIG AND SERVIVAR SIDED, MILLIONS O PALLETS AND NOT ENOUGH WIDE OPEN KILL ZONES, PLEASE DELETE".

I can understand the disappointment for people with performance issues not being able to access the map, but even for those people it's still a new map. And to be completely honest if they can't access that map, what makes them think a newer one would be better for them?

The more I play RPD the more I somewhat like it in a way, barring the two infinite rooms.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

Yep was hoping we got a new map. But oh well it is what it is.

They literally just made a new map with the last patch, which wasn't that long ago lmfao.

    You guys are never satisfied.

  • The pride charm already covers those so it's pretty unnecessary, and it was bad enough some people got targeted for using pride charms. It would be even worse if someone got targeted for, say, a trans charm.

  • Similarly in my <2k hours before this mmr test I only encountered one hacker on the same day multiple times, but I kept getting their lobby in solo queue so it couldn't be avoided.

Since this mmr test, I've had multiple hackers within the past week.

My piece of advice: if someone is being really cocky in your face like flashlight clicking, ignore them habitually. If they jump into a locker in your face while they're near you, DO NOT LET THEM STUN YOU. Do not even attempt to grab them; they can insta hack head on which will freeze your game and they will hold you hostage until you dc. Ignore them completely.

  • @dnj510 said:

What kind of cheating, even if it's very miniscule? I want to know what to look out for.

Look out for abnormal flashlight blinds durations. Abnormally bright flashlight beams. Be EXTREMELY sus if they jump in a locker in your face and DO NOT let them stun you (therefore don't get close). Your game will freeze and they will hold you hostage until you dc.

If they try to get your attention from the beginning of the game, be suspect also. Hackers are often extremely cocky and want to bait you to chase them so they can ######### with you.

Other obvious stuff: absurdly fast heals, fast movement speed, etc but that's obvious.

  • Before this MMR test, in my 1.5k hours I only experienced a hacker a few times--and it was within a single day, the same hacker (same username all that). After that day, haven't seen another hacker.

Since this MMR test, I've had multiple hackers in my games and they do debilitating things like freeze your game as killer and making you dc

Having wallhax and 0 indicator of when you're uncloaking is not ok. You can literally just cloak at any tile and a down becomes braindead easy. This is not a "strong addon" its entirely unfair.

I really don't want to hear about unfairness when survivors have E to outplay and iron will, which are by far more problematic

Steam charts for if its dying as of recent incase anyone cares.

People are being absurdly stupid when they say DBD is dying. They try so hard to say it's dying as some sort of validation for their frustration to the game.

No one cares about how much you like old DBD. Stop saying the game is dying just because you're bored. Go play something else. It's that simple

You know what undetectable means right? Its debatable premonition and spinechill should still do it. Object still does because the icon lights up and is not linked to the aura reading. So for instance if theres a wraith with the aura reading addon OoO will light up you just won't see his aura. So NO.

Considering Whispers exists, I think Spine Chill and Premonition are fine.

  • I don't know if this counts as lobby dodging since I only dodge during the loading screen but if I see a busted map offering (survivors bringing haddonfield, killer bringing léry's/Midwich or something) then I dodge. I almost never bring map offerings myself on either side because I think that's unfair, busted, and simply boring and opponents who bring offerings like that tell me their true intentions and I have zero interest playing games against people like that if you have to try that hard to put a game in your favour. No more ruin undying no ed Scratch Mirror Myers or sweaty survivor builds on haddonfield or badham :). If any of this happened by RNG though I'd play it out, but I always check offerings during loading or beginning of the game to ensure.

Also something I've noticed is that killers tend to play in a really douchey way when they bring stupid offerings like cut coin, which 99.9% of the time has no purpose. They bring sweatiest add ons and build and then insecure camp when they lose their pressure. No thanks.

    RAM: 16,0 GB 3200MHz

    GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

    1080p

And I uncaped my FPS to 120 FPS

Your CPU is fine but your GPU is very middling to put it mildly. It's not bad but far from being great, so if you're going to play on Ultra I would not recommend playing at 120 FPS. You also have to remember this game's optimisation is poor as they upgrade the models, realms, etc.

I would personally just recommend you play on Low with edited settings where you have some of your desired quirks from ultra (I personally like the sharpened texture from Ultra and I edited my settings to be like that but everything else is on low) and be capped at 60 FPS.

I was playing on Suffocation Pit, the MacMillan Estate realm. I have faced Freddys on it before, but I've never experienced extreme frame drops like that before. It was like you said, it randomly froze very often. And I do have a pretty good PC.

What are your specs? If you're on PC and have a good cpu and gpu, that shouldn't be happening. Could be some settings. I personally have a 2700x + 1080ti and I play at 1440p. I didn't uncap my FPS for DBD as that caused performance issues so it's at 60 fps.

I don't pay the most attention to my FPS counter but I can attest that I almost never get stutters anymore and my game doesn't freeze when i play against Freddy (or any killer)

  • @MeatBycicle said:

The only time I see this happening is to Claudettes with Iron Will that will unhook then disappear, leaving the unhookee out in the open. They then proceed to try and NOT interact with the killer for the entire match and say they were doing "objective".

Those types of players are huge detriments to their team, playing cowardly and hiding, when you havent been hooked once, and everyone else is on death hook is a huge determent to your team.

Those sorts of players literally encourage tunnelling in the game. As killer I try sometimes not to tunnel the unhookee and go after the unhooker but if I can't find the unhooker then of course I'm just going to go after the unhookee.

People who play like this as survivor need to stop thinking it's a smart thing to do. They're just encouraging survivor-induced tunnelling.

  • I'm a PC player with a pretty good PC and I've never noticed a difference. If my memory serves me correct however, I do recall playing with some other PC players and they said Dream World made their frames drop pretty badly. And they had trash PC's mind you.

Also too could depend on the maps you get. I know one of those people I'm referencing could not really handle the newer realm reworks like Ormond and so on and his screen would pretty much freeze heavily because his PC could not handle it, but the other original maps like Coldwind at the time before its rework was fine. So it could just be a realm issue or a mixture of both the realm and dream world.

  • Killer: 4 kills/3 kills + hatch escape

I only consider it a loss for the most part if I don't get majority hooks, but that doesn't mean it's a win either. I think hooks are more important than kills

I like how you explain it, really killers like Hag, Twins and Hillbilly depend a lot on their ability, I mean, Hag must be lucky to set traps in places other than a hook lol, Twins depends a lot on his aim with Victor, a bad move the opportunity to find him is lost. Hillbilly depends more on the crosshairs of his attack, I think Blight would fit in here too but I don't know how to describe it.

With Pig I think it should be the lowest Tier, it is a killer of traps but then those traps are not reused, they save you time unless experienced people play a lot to save themselves from it.

The thing about Hag is that if the team is coordinated, she can get wrecked. My basic principles for going against Hag is to prioritise generators around basement to not give her basement pressure and then just strategically disarm her traps. She's really not that much different than Trapper, unless she has strong add ons.

Twins are similar too. Even if you hold Victor hostage, a 3v1 isn't the worst thing in the world if your team is efficient on gens

Hillbilly honestly just feels like he's too high maintenance to use his power on loops. Even for extremely good Billy's the amount of time they take to down someone with their power sometimes is less efficient than if they were to just M1 to down.

Pig is a killer I'd say is consistently inconsistent. I really don't see Pig as being a threat at all except for on the RPD map. Trying to get your trap off there is actually a nightmare and she's probably one of the stronger killers for that map for that reason.

  • This is my definitive list for the most part.

    https://i.imgur.com/TEHI9yD.png

Inconsistent = these killers under the right circumstances (and not hard ones, at that) can be starved of their power very easily or are in general very inconsistent

IDK = I find ranking Deathslinger to be weird but he is at least C tier but I would put him above Huntress

Also the tiers go from left to right in terms of worst (left) to best (right) in that field. Some killers I think are more or less equal like Myers and Pig, Nemesis and trickster, Bubba and Pyramid Head, etc

For the inconsistent field however, it should be interpreted more as "the least inconsistent to the most inconsistent" which you can say is the inverse of best to worse depending on your perspective

VPNs are a PC thing for the most part, but consoles having pretty much the same effect with crappy wifi is also very much a thing and even more common

There's a reason why "coup de console" is a meme to describe many console DBD players amongst pc dbd players because of how bad their wifi is. I don't really get what's hard about using ethernet on a console but whatever

Blight was the last strong Killer? Twins are also strong. Nemesis is also far from weak.

In fact, since Plague, every Killer (aside from Trickster) has been decent at least.

And nobody ever said that Trickster is OP. He is unhealthy in its current state, but not too strong. And they should have scrapped the changes to his Base Power and just keep the Main Event-Changes for now, and think about something else. Instead, they weakened his 1v4 making him reload more often, while still keeping him quite oppressive in the 1v1. (Even tho, I have to admit, I get the idea of removing around 1/4 of his knives if he needs 1/4 less of them to remove a Healthstate)

Plague is much worse than Trickster lol

    She's almost Trapper level.

I am not missing the point, as I said, others have already answered you sufficiently. Heck, the second post in this thread breaks it down thoroughly.

I gave advice because you complained about Blights selecting these specific posts and called them cringey and over kill and I gave you the best advice to make facing them less so.

And yes, totem perks help, kindred helps, though they're not needed. I don't use either and I rarely have issue finding the totems. The only issue I have is getting paired with potatoes or tryhard teammates who rush in for flashlight saves or to moonwalk around the killer and refuse to do the gens. I don't complain about killers or their perks because I know that people play what is most attractive to them and will select what they think will help them the most.

I only brought up survivors because if you were genuinely interested in why certain players choose the same builds over and over, I would think you'd see more of it with them than killers, especially since there are 4 times more of them. But it's obvious you're not genuine and that this tread is more of a rant than anything else.

Yea that's how I know you're not understanding the actual question if you think the second post is answering the main prompt.

The second post explains why those perks are good on Blight and why some others aren't, but it doesn't explain why it's only those perks together as if those are the only compatible ones. The question was never about why those perks are used on Blight; it's why it's only those perks used together, leading to people seeing pretty much identical builds on every single Blight. There is a difference between expecting certain perks on a killer and pretty much seeing the same identical build on killers to such a degree where you almost never see anyone using anything else but those 3 perks together.

It makes sense people want to run the best of the best to win, that's expected. Survivors do it all the time. But the real question comes in at: why are only Blight players doing this to such an odd monolithic degree to the point where it's pretty much every Blight with no variation running 3 of the same 4 perks, when they don't actually have a need to? Twins are the only killer who actually have a reason to use the best of the best because nothing else really works on them. Blight has plenty of alternatives.

This would not be a question if I saw a similar ratio of meta setups on other killers. Except I don't. There is almost always variation in builds. There are perks I expect on certain killers but it's never so monolithic like with Blights.

People are allowed to use whatever perks they want and what I think of it doesn't change it. The question is however, if people want to win so much and use the best of the best, why is pretty much every other killer but Blight not using the best of the best?

Totems are generally not an issue for me unless it's an indoor map and I can generally find the spawns as I have experience to do so, but that still doesn't really impact my thoughts on the build. Even in a SWF playing against that is boring, and it's not so much the perks themselves but how they play in general. Time and time again, after the totems get cleansed, they just camp out of insecurity. They make the games boring and there's nothing I can do as a player. It has nothing to do with the games being difficult either. I've faced much more difficult Blights who used no slowdowns and add ons and I didn't complain.

    @Shirokinukatsukami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268019/whats-the-reasoning-behind-blight-players-unnecessary-unoriginality-with-their-builds

Meta Killers like Blight attract sweaty players who just want to win and 4K every time. So they always all use the same meta perks and add-ons over and over to consistently get as many wins as possible.

Throughout DBD's history there's always a group of people playing the sweatiest meta builds, the killer they use changes as balance changes but they're basically the same people each time. Once upon a time they were all doing Billy, then they shifted to Legion, then to Nurse, then to Spirit, then to Freddy, then to Oni, then to Blight, then to Wraith, etc. (I don't have the chronology perfect but these killer metas did happen)

Depends on who just got the latest big buff.

Yea don't get me wrong I understand there are people who want to use strong builds and it's not a weird thing to see, but I do find it weird how often I see it on Blights to the extent that I pretty much never see anything else. There's one thing expecting certain perks on a killer due to the perk synergy and people who play that killer religiously only using the same 3 perks as if they swore to it in some cult. It's weird.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382252#Comment_2382252

It isn't a weird phenomena- Players selecting the best perks to perform as optimal as possible with their chosen character is a very common thing when it comes to playing competitive pvp games. You calling it cringey and over kill is you trying to put players down for choosing this build and make them feel bad about it all so you can have an easier time against them.

Say what you will, the truth is there is nothing cringey or overkill about selecting the best perks that would help you succeed. And no, it doesn't take a God Squad to go against this, just competent people who split on gens and know how to loop. Nor does it take a rocket scientist for someone to find two lit totems and cleanse them, I usually find one at the start of the match and a random teammate finds the other within a minute. If you think these perks are as powerful and over kill as you say you do, then it would behoove you to select an anti totem perk and start cleansing,t hen you can have your fun game where you can easily rush gens and move on to the next match.

If you truly think selecting the best perks are boring, overkill and cringey, then I await your thread complaining about survivors always running Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Leader and Dead Hard, all perks I have consistently seen for the last two years.

You are again missing the point. The prompt is not to question why are these perks chosen in the first place and what's so good about them; that's well understood. The question isn't also why it's a popular build; it's why there is no deviance from it from Blight players as if those are the only perks he can use, when that's not the case. There is a difference between something being popular and something being almost cultishly chosen where it seems like 19 out of 20 Blight players will be using the same perks and you will only come across 1 in 20 who has a different build. And by "same perks" I don't mean any combination of the three, I mean all three, meaning in that scenario those 19 blight's have almost identical builds.

It makes sense for people to want to run the best of the best builds. However the reality is that at least from my experience and some others as well, it only seems to be Blights who do this to a cultish degree.

Where are the Nurses who use Ruin Undying Tinkerer? I cannot recall the last time I've seen one. In fact I can't recall the last time I've seen one use pop, even. Their builds vary pretty greatly.

Where are the Spirits who use Ruin undying? I see a variety of slowdowns and builds that exclude slowdowns.

Where are the Freddy's who use Tinkerer Ruin undying? I legitimately cannot think of the last time I saw one. The builds vary

    It goes on and on.

I'm not really sure why you're trying to give advice about my games on Blight as that's irrelevant. Like I said earlier pretty much all the Blights I go against who use that build aren't actually good and they rely on it to slow the game down enough so they can get downs as they normally don't get them fast enough. There's also a tendency for them to camp hooks after their slowdowns are cleansed, and considering the disorganised nature of solo queue, it's already a losing game on multiple fronts in this scenario. Totem perks aren't going to help. Kindred isn't going to help, and this is from someone who frequently uses both in solo queue. But that's besides the point.

Also not sure why you're acting as if I haven't questioned survivors using the same perks either. I haven't made threads about it--and I don't need to for that matter--but I have made posts about it. Although interestingly I rarely see Balanced Landing or Leader

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2381377#Comment_2381377

I didn't misunderstand anything, it's just others have already sufficiently answered you.

I only responded to point out how easy it is to remove half of his perks since you find them "cringey and overkill", therefore allowing you to have the easy and less sweaty match that you so desire.

A vast majority of this thread as been me having to clarify the prompt of the topic and while there have been good discussions henceforth from that, I'm not sure if I would say it's sufficiently answered. Not that everything has been inadequate, but it's not necessarily the most concrete explanation to the weird phenomena.

The problem isn't easier matches. If you want something more annoying than that build, put on infectious with alchemist ring. Likwise, a ruin undying tinkerer nurse isn't that much more annoying than a slugging Starstruck agitation infectious nurse. Me calling it cringey and overkill isn't to imply that I want easier matches. As I was saying before pretty much all the Blights I encounter running those builds aren't even good with Blight but because it's solo queue, they're naturally going to win as they ping pong throughout the map and the game goes on long enough.

Unless you're against a god squad, using ruin undying tinkerer is boring to use and boring to go against and unnecessary and overkill. I say this as someone who used it for a bit on Freddy. You aren't playing the game; the perks are playing the game for you.

    A couple things:

There's a very prominent streamer who put out a video or two qbout Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer and they play a lot of Blight in the way you described. Kind of a meme in the Blight community, but others might think that's the best way to play him.

As for perks, there aren't many perks that synergize with Blight. He doesn't need chase perks at all. Especially perks like Brutal or End/Fury when he can break pallets with his rush. Information is just that: information. Game sense makes up for 90% of what those perks give you. And 75% of perks in this game are borderline useless anyway. Doesn't leave you with much outside of slowdown.

Hmm I know you aren't going to say the name, but I don't think I'm familiar with this streamer. I watch the content of a few Blight mains but they are pretty against using those perks.

I understand there is some incompatibility with Blight as his rush attack doesn't count as an M1, but I don't think he is as bad as Twins to the point where the only slowdown he can use is Ruin and undying. He still has other perks like: Infectious, Lethal Pursuer, Corrupt, Pop, Monitor, Discordance, Mindbreaker, and so on that he can get tonnes of value from.

Like I was saying before, in the case of killers who have serious compatibility issues with perks such as Twins where in order to play them efficiently it fends you off from using a lot of perks and pretty much only leaves Corrupt/Ruin/Undying for slowdown, or Pyramid Head where not using Ruin Undying and instead Pop or Surge makes you in conflict to use your power. Blight doesn't have any of those issues though.

    @MarcoPoloYolo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2381243#Comment_2381243

Nurse has some better compatibility than Blight due to having M1s for attacks. For instance, devour hope or haunted ground. Surge is an option if the Nurse doesn't want to kick gens. You get the idea. I'd also like to bring up that Nurse actually only has good map pressure if she's using add-ons. Otherwise, she's traveling just barely faster than a 4.6 m/s killer. Pretty much the only perks really worth bringing other than gen perks, info perks, and slugging perks are M1 triggered perks such as exposed. Exposed is pretty much the only popular lethality based effect.

Blights using Lethal pursuer will probably become more popular since Blight content creators use it as well. I can't speak for everyone that plays Blight, but I've also used infectious quite a bit. Now, for an actual answer to why I think Blight's gravitate towards the same build, it's as simple as it's a decent build that probably is most compatible for the typical Blight's playstyle. It's also the best build that uses Blight's only good teachable. Most killers know Ruin is borderline mandatory, so if they don't get ruin from the shrine, they'll begrudgingly level Hag for it. Adding in Pop as the backup regression perk instead of undying would require unlocking Clown and doing the same. In addition to this, many Blights might just prefer to not have to kick generators to get regression, and instead chase chase chase. It's kind of the appeal for a fast character. BBQ gives bloodpoints, and Blight can actually leverage long-distance information, so it's a natural fit. Tinkerer is good on Blight because it lets the Blight know where to leverage ruin while they have it. Now, a smart Blight won't be chasing every Tinkerer and will sacrifice less desirable gens for downs, but the typical Blight, much like the typical survivor, won't be optimal.

That's a fair answer. I also think perhaps it's due to people now just getting into Blight despite him being out for a very long time due to his recent changes in POV as well as compatibility with console.

I have noticed a stark difference in skill between people who don't use that build and people who use tinkerer/ruin/undying though. The best blight I went against so far in recent memory was vampire_toothy who was using no slowdowns or add ons and wrecked a team I was playing with on Groaning Storehouse, a survivor sided map. Meanwhile the Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying blights I go against struggled to get fast downs even on killer sided maps like Midwich and resorted to camping hooks out of insecurity once their slowdowns got cleansed

Sorry, I'm kinda lost. What do you mean with it's treated as an m1?

It's definitely treated as a special attack, not a basic one.

Also, it's undoubtedly not a basic attack, because unlike any real m1:

    • It breaks walls and pallets.
    • It can only connect with survivors, not the environment. The only exception are listed in the point above. And the pallet must be dropped, otherwise it doesn't collide.
    • The attack cone is incredibly wide, even wider than an m1 tap.

I think they meant that maybe it should not be treated as an M2 attack (him hitting with his rush) because Spirit and Nurse can essentially do the same thing with their powers (hit while/after using it) and it's counted as an M1, but Blight's isn't.

Personally I think they're moving away from that, but Spirit and Nurse simply haven't been reviewed yet so it's kind of relics of the past that their attack in their power still counts as an M1. I also remember they changed Legion's Frenzy to not count as an M1 too, and I can't remember any other killers at the moment.

You could argue as well Wraith's shouldn't count as an M1 too (lunge post uncloak)

My personal impression on Blight has always been that he isn't as strong as many players seem to rate him, but he just so good at taking advantage of Undying Ruin that he has no problem dominating most random survivor teams at any rank. His chase is nowhere as near as reliable as Nurse's or Spirit's, but he outclass them both in map mobility.

Playing Blight without the safety of Undying Ruin require a lot of effort and aggravate all the little frustrating things about Blight randomly sliding on some object and missing Lethal Rush by a hair.

As for Tinkerer its not needed at all, but it work so well on Blight, why would you not use it ?

My guess for the reason you don't see much perks variation with Blight, is simply because Blight Players have tried other perks and concluded that they didn't like them as much. Why would you not use the perks that seem to work best for your killer and make your game much easier and less stressfull ? And its not like there are tons of perks that have natural synergy with Bligh'ts power out there.

To me it show that Blight is a flawed design. He is the Ruin King, but beyond that he really does not have that much going for him.

I do agree that playing without ruin/undying/tinkerer requires actual effort and skill, and something as I was saying before is that all of these ruin undying tinkerer blights I've gone against actually aren't good with Blight and you can easily tell they rely on the game being stalled out long enough for them to get a winning edge. In games where their slowdowns get cleansed somewhat early, they tend to all fall into the pattern of "insecure camping", which is camping every subsequent hook after their slowdowns are cleansed because they're too insecure about their chase ability henceforth. It could also be that because Blight was recently made compatible with console and more people are playing him now, people are still largely inexperienced and so they rely on strong perks to carry them. That's the best reasoning I have

I've gone against actually good Blights (shockingly, they don't use any of those three perks) and they're able to wreck a team without any slowdown perks.

The point isn't to question the strength of Tinkerer Ruin undying. It's obvious why it's used. The question is more so collectively not only why is it used but used to such a degree where it's almost cult-like. You can use that same reasoning for every other killer on it being the best, tried and tested perks but yet you won't see such monolithic choices on other killers really. And if you do it tends to be for a reason. For example Pyramid Head and Twins have actual compatibility issues with a lot of perks in regards to their power and/or playstyle. Blight does not have that issue for the most part. He has plenty of alternatives to ruin and undying, even tinkerer. Twins cannot effectively use Pop unless you want to throw the game, and Pop compromises Pyramid Head's power.

I'm not saying you only play survivor, I just find people that complain about killer builds are most often running the same 5 perks every game. And I honestly agree with you, blights are pretty unoriginal. Basic ######### blight builds are incredibly unfun to go against imo

My apologies for the unnecessary aggression then.

I like to change my builds here and there, but I think they're not necessarily unoriginal. My go-to survivor build was/is Spine Chill, Windows, Kindred, and Bond or Alert. My "try hard build" is something like Spine Chill, Resilience, Vigil, and Sprint Burst, and a somewhat more tame to me is Aftercare, Lithe, WGLF, and WMI/BT. Similar sort of variety on my killers. Even if I used mostly the same build, I really never see anyone else use it either

Like I get Tinkerer/ruin/undying is a strong build and I don't want to shame anyone for using it for whatever reason regardless how many others use it or ask why it's used in the first place, but I just find it extremely odd how there's such a high saturation of all three of those perks being used by Blight players to the extent where it's almost entirely what I see from every Blight I go against, not like other killers where a perk or so is common but there is other variation in the builds.

    @Huge_Bush said:

I don't understand the complaining. All it would take is for one player to bring in a totem tracking perk or map and Blight will be forced to play with only two perks for the rest of the match. If people would stop rushing gens the second they get into a match and actually stealth around a little, they could cleanse totems and not have to worry about it. Half the time, I usually spawn into the match right across one of the lit totems. Heck, the first thing I do is look for a dull totem for inner strength, and if it doesn't proc a hex notification, I know they don't have undying.

You need to re-read the topic as you misunderstood the prompt of the topic entirely

  • @Gaffy said:

Survivor players calling killers builds unoriginal, how ironic.

I mostly play killer. Only played survivor in swfs for the past two~three weeks to grind BP because I got tired of people not bringing cakes in solo queue. I also have called out before elsewhere survivors using the same builds on these forums.

What is this the "you don't agree with me so you must not play killer" bs you're trying so hard to pull? It's cringe.

Is this an indirect way of expressing your incompetence to comprehend the actual topic at hand and being able to discuss it?

  • @MarcoPoloYolo said:

Same reason why the majority of survivors will run an exhaustion perk on all of their builds, and will often see Iron will there as well. The typical variance in a survivor build at high ranks will typically just be "which of the 4 flavors of free chase extension am I selecting" and you'll typical see borrowed, Iron Will, or both with a max of 1-2 unique perks (such as a flavor of second chance perks or prove thyself). Other than that, you'll find locker weirdos.

The reason is simple. If you know a typical solid build for a character, why use anything but that when you know that, if the other side is also bringing their A-game, it's not overkill, and you'll be punished for build variety once you do? It's the dev's problem for not making enough good perks for killer that work on all killers. I still don't get why Blight can't have his lethal lunge not count as a lunge for M1 perks when Nurse and Spirit have stronger anti-loop and apparently it's A-ok for them.

    @Friendly_Blendette said:

Because they are good perks its like saying why do survivors lack diversity because every game its IW, UB and DH

    @Spirez said:

Why? Why do spirit mains use stridor?

Why do trickster and huntress mains use Iron Maiden

Why do bubba mains use bamboozle?

Why do Myers and Slinger mains use M&A?

Why do trapper and Hag mains use Corrupt?

The perks work really well with the killer’s power. That’s why. Why would someone not use something that works really well with it!?!?

Why would people not drive a long distance instead of walking it? Same reasoning.

I really wish people would read more clearly what I'm asking. aaa

The question is not to shame any player for using meta perks, it's also not discrediting survivors who also use meta perks as I've said the same thing and questioned it elsewhere. However killers are different and survivors are almost entirely just skins, meaning different perks are ran for each killer, and while there are some staple perks that make a specific killer more efficient, I have never seen it be to such an extent where I see a monolithic choice of build like Blight players do, which is make 75% of their build the same instead of just one or two perks.

For Nurse, she has pretty much the same compatibility with perks as Blight, but yet most Nurses I see aren't running ruin undying tinkerer; in fact, it's been an extremely long time since I've seen a nurse in red ranks even use ruin undying, let alone tinkerer. They run a variety of builds; starstruck, agitation / ruin or pop/ infectious, something else/ nurse's calling, sloppy / corrupt, lethal pursuer, the list goes on. I'm not seeing 3 identical perks on 95% of the Nurse's I go against; it's extremely varied, and it has nothing to do with his rush attack not counting as an M1.

Spirit's use Stridor a lot (for now), but still a variety of builds; corrupt/pop/ruin/STBFL/lethal pursuer/Devour/Surge. Hell, I've even see Monitor and abuse used on Spirit here and there. Overall, other than Stridor, there is no prevailing build I see on Spirits and it varies. 95% do not use the same 3 out of 4 perks.

Even for killers where their power attack doesn't count as an M1 attack like Plague/Legion/Pyramid Head/Demo, I still see more significant variety than I do with Blights as of late. The only killer I see the same lack of variety is Twins and they have more compatibility issues than Blight. Blight can very much run Corrupt/Pop/Infectious/Monitor/Discordance/Enduring and so on and have a really good build.

So tell me why is it that every other killer (minus Twins, who I already explained has actual compatibility issues with other perks in regards to their power and playstyle, unlike Blight) has a variety of builds and they don't bring the best of the best but I only see Blight players do that? That's the question and it's that simple.

    @Steel_Eyed said:

I think the answer to OP’s question is that Blight does not benefit from the usual chase perks that a more M1 type killer benefit from. Brutal, Enduring, STBFL are not particularly useful on him due to the nature of his power.

Whats useful on Blight? Gen regression and tracking perks.

Nemesis has the same problem at the moment. The killers best move is to stack BBQ with gen regressing perks.

STBFL and Brutal may not be useful, but Enduring still has its purposes; you still get stunned by pallets. Even then, there are other chase-aggressive perks to use like infectious, monitor and abuse, lethal pursuer, mindbreaker etc. There are also a variety of slowdown and gen regression perks such as Corrupt and Pop. There are also a variety of tracking perks like Discordance, Thrilling Tremors, so on.

I'm not sure if I can judge Nemesis at the moment; he's still a new killer and people are still getting perks on him, so I still see a variety on him at the moment.

    @Plu said:

What i really wanna know is why people always blame "Unoriginality" on Blight when the actual issue comes from most people being meta slave, it's really not a blight specific thing, it happens on all killers and even as survivor, everyone runs the same thing because it's meta.

I don't blame anyone for being into the meta, i just wanna know what is with obsession with calling Blight players unoriginal when they're a small portion of a big problem?

As explained above, other than Twins who legitimately pretty much can not really use any other perks without playing in a detrimentally inefficient way or it's flat out not compatible, Blight has a variety of perks that are very good on him but yet I not only see meta perks, but it's always the same 3 out of 4 perks, and I have never seen any other killer have such a high saturation of monolithic builds to the point where they basically use the same identical build and it's a rare sight to not see those 3 perks. I'm not talking about one perk that's used a lot, or two. I mean a majority of the build.

I've also asked the same question about survivors elsewhere, but survivors are just skins anyway. But why is it that Blight players seem to be the only meta slaves but really no one else besides Twins are? I never see as high a saturation of monolithic builds on other killers as I do Blight, and Twins players actually have an excuse. Blight has no excuse; he has a wide range of perks that can still be really good builds.

Honestly that's been my experience so far. Another thing I notice is how they do what I call "insecure camping" which is, as soon as their slowdowns are cleansed, they get extremely insecure about their gameplay and just basically facecamp every hook because they're not confident in ending chases fast and have no slowdowns to carry them anymore. I've seen this happen multiple times with these Blights.

Even sweaty Spirits don't resort to playing that insecurely.

I think maybe it might be selection bias and it could be on my part just as it could be on yours.

Personally, in the red ranks, I see meta builds the overwhelmingly majority of times and they're fairly repetitive.

Maybe it's more apparent on Blight because it's not 1 or 2, but 3 perks that work in synergy.

Yet, almost every levelled-up killer I encounter is built on the meta.

Demo you say? Every single Demo I verse runs Black Heart and Barb's Glasses.

Legion and Plague? Stacked slowdown with Thana.

    Bubba? Bamboolze.

    Wraith? Coxcombed and All-Seeing Blood.

    Oni and Nurse? Infectious.

    Deathslinger? Monitor.

    Ghostface? Sloppy and Nurse's.

    Spirit? Stridor.

And so on and so forth.

These almost never fail unless it's clear the player doesn't have the character levelled up.

While experiences vary, I'm not the only one, and there are already memes being made about it.

The topic is not to imply other killers don't have typical perks. But I've never run into any other killer where almost all of them use the same identical build, and even add ons. For Wraith I see quite a large variety for add ons and while coxcomb and all seeing blood are popular, they're not mostly what I see.

To me there tend to be more than one meta build, and they don't always have to be the same strength of each other either; you're still dealing with pub games, mind you.

Like on Freddy for example, my big-dick build would be Tinkerer Surveillance Ruin Undying, although I find that build to be absurdly boring and I almost never run it. A more tame version I ran during the event since I needed BBQ is STBFL/BBQ/ruin/pop. My typical build is STBFL/Thrilling/Pop/Discordance. I sometimes run other stuff if I feel like it, but there's more than one powerful build involving meta perks I run on my killers. There are very few killers in this game where their power and playstyle to play them efficiently warrants pretty much only one type of build, and Blight isn't one of them.

It would be one thing if I saw a lot of Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying blights but I still saw some variety here and there. But it's so unoriginal and so monolithic to the point where I can count like one or two instances in the past two weeks or a month where I have seen a Blight not use those three perks in their build.

  • @Bwsted said:

Because the build works very well with his power.

The question is not why some players use the build to begin with, it's why almost every single Blight as of late is using it. I have never witnessed people playing a killer and using the same build this much. Even Demo players are more unique with their builds

    @Power_Guy said:

Because it works and Killers are allowed to use effective perks, just as much as Survivors?

I mean, the fact that you call it 'sweaty' just shows the mindset in this question; Why aren't Blights using off-meta perks to make your games easier?

Why should they, when Survivors bring the same 4 perks every match?

Yes they're allowed, never said nor implied they weren't, so I'm not sure why you're saying that. I've also critiqued survivors using the same perks previously elsewhere as well, so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up as if I condone it. I've also asked the same question about survivors.

I will repeat myself for the nth time. The question is not to shame anyone for using the build, nor questioning why it's used in the first place. It's questioning why it's used to such an excessive degree to the point where you almost never see anything else ran. I have never seen such a saturation of the same build on any other killer before.

Tinkerer ruin undying, especially with add ons like alchemist ring, is sweaty, period, no matter how much you want to beat around the bush. The proposition isn't about why they aren't using "easier" perks, it's why they are all almost using the same identical build.

I also don't think you need to run the utmost strongest build for it to be strong to begin with, let alone for it to make your games "easier", particularly for pubs where almost all games on a killer like Blight it doesn't matter anyway.

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

Am I the only one who rarely sees this build after the Undying nerf? Most Blights I go against run Ruin and Pop, and I see Infectious being used more than Tinkerer on him.

I actually went against my first Ruin + Undying Blight in weeks yesterday. It was on Lery's and the poor guy lost both totems in less than a minute.

It definitely seems like I'm not the only one with this experience. There are even memes being made about it too. Nothing wrong though if you haven't experienced it. It could also be a server thing as well. I'm on NA East personally, and play at red ranks.

Don't project. I never said, nor implied, I needed to be amused. I very clearly stated my question, which was why is there such a high saturation of the same build on Blight players as if there are no other perks to run.

Don't put words in my mouth if you're not capable of answering.

I see what you mean and apologize. It wasn't my intention to put words in your mouth.

I meant it in the sense that most players just want to win, regardless of what anyone else thinks. If they found something that works for them and performs better than other builds, then that's what they'll use. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", as they say.

My apologies also for being aggressive; I wasn't aware you misunderstood, so my mistake on that.

Don't get me wrong, I understand using a build that allows you to win in pretty much any situation, but it's just that with Blight the players use almost identical builds and it's not necessarily due to incompatibility with perks like for Twins for example. Blight can still do extremely well with Corrupt and Pop, but not so much Twins or Pyramid Head for example due to their powers and/or playstyle. I see a similar identical-build observation with Twins but at least I can rationalise why that's so since there's nothing else really available for them to use that's similarly as strong or just strong in its own right.

It'd be one thing if I still say Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying a lot but I still saw another build here and there. But in the past two weeks since the event I've been playing a lot of survivor to grind BP (to guarantee cakes in swf) and I've gone against many Blights. I can only think of one Blight in particular who didn't use tinkerer/ruin/undying, and another who just used tinkerer but no ruin/undying, or even Pop.

Not trying to shame anyone for using strong perks, it just made me curious what triggered the sudden wave of identical builds since I didn't encounter that before relatively recently with Blights

    @EntitySpawn said:

People can run what builds they like. I will run ruin and tinkerer on my blight, best defense on him. Why would I use worse perks when the people I verse wont. No matter the killer I play I shall equip the perks I feel best impact them.

The point of the post wasn't to shame Blight players from using the perks. It was a question as to why, collectively, there is seemingly such a high saturation of Blight players who use almost precisely the same build, but almost every other killer I go against I don't see such repetition in builds. Twins is the only other one that comes to mind and unlike with Blight, ruin and undying is pretty much the only thing that makes sense in terms of playstyle/power.

I'm sure Blight players are not the only ones who want to win, but I'm still not seeing as similar builds from other killers as I am with Blight players, especially as of late

    @Katie_met said:

It's always tinkerer, ruin, undying and bbq/infectious. Always. It actually blows my mind how I can guess the build as soon as I find out who the killer is. I get that people can play whatever build they want, but it's genuinely humorous how basically every Blight uses this build, and it only seems to be the case with this killer lmao.

Dead ass my experience as well, minus the infectious. For the fourth perk for me I think it's a tie between sloppy or BBQ.

More power to people who want to use whatever perks they want; nothing wrong with that all. But it is weird as hell how it only seems that Blight players use the same build religiously and without necessity either; they're not like Twins where there's no other slowdown that can work well with their power.

I'm trying not to stereotype but this is a really weird phenomena and I don't get why it's happening tbh

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Only perk that annoys me on blight is Tinkerer. Now that I am learning to play him myself, I dont use tinkerer simply because how annoying it is to verse as survivor.

But to answer your question why they use it? Simply because its the best for him and these perks have high synergy with his power.

The question isn't why it's used in the first place, it's questioning the high saturation of unoriginality of builds of Blight players. As I was saying before, it's so saturated to the point where I am shocked to not see a blight have tinkerer ruin and undying. It's not even about those perks individually, it's about them being used all together.

I have never seen such a high saturation of the same builds from people who play any other killer. Like there's a difference between typical perks that work well with a killer, like Stridor on Spirit, and another to see like 95% of Spirits use at least 3 out 4 of the same perks

    @DelsKibara said:

    Two words:

    Blight's Bugged.

If you play Blight for an extended period of time, you'd know that you don't have much room to use other perks that compliments his power.

I once tried running Surge and Surveillance on Blight since I know he can get downs in good generator spots with his rushes. Except his rushes don't count towards Basic Attacks, they're Special Attacks.

You can argue then "Well, maybe STBFL would be good for him if he uses Special Attacks for his rushes". Problem with that is that his rushes are one of the most consistent and easiest ways to get hits on Survivors. You're not going to be building stacks, and if you're going to be playing an M1 Killer you might as well be playing Wraith who does a better job at doing hit-and-run playstyles.

Let's not forget the fact that his Blight Rushes are also inconsistent with maps and stuff. Yes, it's the most consistent output of damage if you know how to use it. But the maps themselves are so ######### that you don't know if you'll catch a Survivor or get ######### over by rock geometry and have to wait until your power restores itself again. Basically like a more ######### Spirit.

Also, if you are stunned at ANY POINT during a rush, you will be bugged and you cannot use your power without swinging your weapon which gives Survivors more distance in a cahse.

Also, ALSO, if you break a pallet or a wall with your power there is a chance for you to get stuck in place and not be able to move WHATSOEVER until the game decides you can.

Which brings us to the build almost every Blight uses.

Ruin is good because Blight is great at exerting map pressure all over the map with his Blight rushes.

Which is why protecting it with Undying is a no-brainer.

And that leads to Tinkerer which allows him to get some nasty hits from across the map and force a generator that is almost completed to go back to 0% if defended properly. There is literally no reason not to take this.

And of course, BBQ, to help with the insane ######### grind as well as show auras of Survivors from miles away. I've had cross-map hits with Blight that are not possible without the help of BBQ.

This build is basically a "Solved" build for Blight, It's objectively the best perks you can bring on him. It has the most obvious synergies with every other perk that is brought in as well as synergies with his own power.

And with the amount of times you get screwed over by nothing but the game on Blight, some players might feel like they don't stand a chance if they don't bring these kinds of perks. Now, I run it myself but the only reason why is because of BBQ. And because I don't feel like sweating that much if I just want points (But don't fret, you still sweat a ######### ton in Red Ranks).

I'm not a good Blight at all and I'm still practising, but like I was saying above, I understand why those perks work well with Blight, but I don't understand the apparent conformity amongst Blight players to use almost the same exact builds always.

You can say the same thing about Nurse--ruin undying tinkerer works very similarly well on her as it does Blight, but yet I'm not seeing Nurses use the same meta builds over and over. The builds vary--from being strong to weak (even if the Nurse is good). And even with strong builds it's still varying; some use ruin, some use pop, some use corrupt, etc. It's never always only ruin and undying like Blight players use.

    @Crowman said:

People who play to win are going to pick the best killers with the best perks on them.

There's really nothing to understand here.

Blight players are pretty much the only players I see who bring the same exact build. I see no other people who play other killers have such a high saturation of conformity with their builds. The Nurse's, Spirits, Freddy's etc do not use the same build to the degree that I see Blight players do.

    @Pilot said:

Why Ruin + Undying + Tinkerer + BBQ / Devour?

    1. It's reliable
    2. It's very strong
    3. Blight is a movement killer so Tinkerer gives him great value
    4. Same thing with BBQ
    5. Ruin & Undying - Blight being a movement killer & with tinkerer in effect he can reliably jump from one place to another and deny a gen from popping. He'll chase the survivor(s) away from the gen while ruin does its job. You can avoid a Blight but you can't run away from him.
    6. Undying is there to back up Ruin. Or Devour hope is he also chose that perk instead of BBQ
    7. Why try anything else if this combo does all of the above & even more? Blight is a very strong killer. If the player behind Blight is also quite good & knowledgeable then... Imagine you put training wheels on a bike for a guy who goes to Marathons, this is how this build feels like when it's on a good Blight.

Edit: Forgot to mention the addons which can also make the game easier.

Hmm I have yet to see a Blight bring Devour for the fourth perk, although that would be interesting. So far I've seen something like: Ruin+undying+tinkerer+sloppy/BBQ/thana/corrupt and one weirdo brought dragon's grip for the fourth perk

Like I was saying above, the question isn't why are these perks strong on Blight, it's why are they so religiously used to the point where people almost never see Blight players use anything but those three perks. You can make the same argument about Nurse having a similar synergy with tinkerer ruin/undying (or any other meta build) but I never see the high saturation of conformity in builds with Nurse players as I do with Blights.

    @Orion said:

Because most people are not playing to amuse you or "wow" you with their original builds, they're playing to win. If that means using the meta, so be it.

Don't project. I never said, nor implied, I needed to be amused. I very clearly stated my question, which was why is there such a high saturation of the same build on Blight players as if there are no other perks to run.

    • Nurse has a similar compatibility with ruin undying tinkerer and yet I almost never see that build used on her, let alone such a high amount of conformity with builds with Nurse players
    • Spirit has a similar compatibility with ruin undying (kinda tinkerer), yet I see a variation in slowdowns if used and overall builds
    • Freddy has perhaps the closest compatibility with Blight with Tinkerer ruin undying and again, I see variations of builds with Freddy's I go against

Pretty much goes for every other killer

Don't put words in my mouth if you're not capable of answering.

  • I agree that it sounds like you're thinking of Sheltered Woods which is often a very bare map in terms of resources, and especially pallet wise. There is some variations that can spawn due to RNG where it's ok at best. Otherwise it's a killer-sided map due to how bare it is in resources despite its size, and how it's basically one collective dead zone.

Suffocation Pit is somewhat a killer-sided map but not because of its lack of resources but because of its 3 gen potential. But for the vast majority of killers the middle section is disgusting and if you know how to play it properly/if you get the right RNG it can become the biggest time waster for a killer to chase you there.

I do think I understand the part you're talking about because I have seen on Suffocation Pit where there is like three pallets at most on the side of shack and you have large dead zones otherwise, and they aren't even necessarily good pallets. Sometimes the spawn you get can give you crappy pallet rng on shack side.

I know that it is gonna be multiplicative, and I know that 50 × 0 = 0. But how does it work on Tier 1 and 2?

If I have Tier 1 Iron Will where my grunts are reduced by 50 %, is it gonna be 50 % × 50 % = 2.500 % which seem quite unrealtistic or is it gonna be 50 % of 50 %, which would be 25 %.

0 % of 50 % would be 0 so variant 2 is making the most sense. With variant 1 you'd hear a Meg scream across the entire map.

In theory, anything under tier 3 should still be affected by Stridor.

The latter version of your equation is what I would presume, which is it being 25%. Since the value for grunts of pain being muted should be taken into account first and then multiplied by Stridor which increases the grunts of pain, which would essentially be 50% of 50%

However honestly, I run into tier 3 Iron Will 98% of the time, even when I sometimes smurf to practise Nurse or Blight or I'm swfing with people who are very low ranks. Really the only time I see Iron Will is on baby Jakes who have nothing else to run.

It's one of those perks that aren't worth running unless it's Tier 3.

  • @MrDardon said:

I understand how it'll work multiplicative with Iron Will 3.

    Tier 3: 0 % sound × 50 % sound = 0 % sound

    Tier 2: 25 % sound × 50 % sound = 1.250 % sound?

    Tier 1: 50 % sound × 50 % sound = 2.500 % sound?

How does it work? Will I be able to hear a grunting Meg across the whole map if she only has Tier 1 IW?

    Or will it rather be 50 % of 50 % which is 25 % and 25 % of 50 % which is 12.5 %?

Grunts of pain will be multiplicative instead of additive like it is now.

T3 IW is 100% reduction in noise, so 0% grunts of pain in terms of volume. Stridor adds like 30% to that, so it becomes 30% loudness of grunts of pain.

With the change, Stridor, as well as any grunts of pain add ons like Huntress and Freddy add ons will be useless against Iron Will (T3). 0% x 30% is going to be zero.

Meaning Iron Will has no counter now.

Even in red ranks on NA East, I rarely go against Spirit, but the ones I do rarely ran slowdowns. It was extremely rare to see like a ruin undying spirit for example; I typically saw Pop

I mean I don't use either too often I switch up my build a lot. I've never actually used Stridor on Spirit though so it doesn't affect me all too much I just love my spooky girl and hope the devs don't kill her off

The nerf doesn't affect me in terms of Spirit gameplay; like my games aren't harder when I don't use Stridor, I actually liked using Stridor more to hear idle breathing as opposed to injured noises. However I don't think it's worth running simply to hear idle breathing after the nerf personally, since there was some additional benefit with hearing injured noises too.

I really love using STBFL on Spirit and she's really not fun to play when I take it off, so that just leaves me with two other perks which will probably be Corrupt and Sloppy Butcher. I find gen slowdown like pop and ruin to be boring on Spirit; she doesn't particularly need it most games.

Monitor and Nurse's actually aren't bad either but for the entire build it would be something like Monitor/Nurse's/Sloppy, and sadly no room for STBFL without moving it for BBQ.

So you project your own lack of skill on the rest of the killer community, interesting

Nah, there's no projection. I never even explicitly said that Spirit players will, let alone specified a quantity such as saying majority will; simply said it encourages Spirit players to do so since...it does. Not really any other worth-while perks. And I would consider running them since there's not really anything else that I think would be worth a perk slot to run

Interesting how hard you're trying to start shite though. 6/10 for effort since your effort's showing

BHVR has this tendency to change stuff around the problem instead of addressing the problem itself.

They still haven't addressed the issue of Spirit though. They now created a problem of making Iron Will uncounterable.

Survivors shouldn't have any unnecessarily uncounterable perks. Iron Will basically grants invisibility

  • @C3Tooth said:

Stridor is weak, IronWill is strong. Fun thing that Stridor could counter IronWill, which made the perk 'balanced'

Though only Spirit can benefit the perk. Nerf Stridor makes the perk completely useless. While its not change anything about the real counter play for those who doesnt use IronWill.

As for me dont use headphone because its easy to damage hearing, I only use speaker which mean I never use Stridor on Spirit but Nurse calling. And Nurse calling is much much more dirty because she come to you without you able to hear TR or phasing.

Honestly, instead of calling it a Stridor nerf, it should be called an Iron Will buff. Because Huntress and Freddy got new add ons to make grunts of pain louder. Those add ons went from near-bad to completely and 100% bad as there is at least one person almost always who uses Iron Will every single game.

Even still, on the subject about Spirit, it's only going to encourage people to use more slowdowns which is a lot worse than a Spirit having Stridor. My typical Spirit build was something like: STBFL/brutal/BBQ/stridor. Now honestly I'm considering running corrupt and sloppy in place of stridor and brutal because there's nothing else I'm interested in running that I think would work well/that I'd have fun with.

  • Wraith is the new Freddy, not the new Spirit.

  • The same survivors who say you don't need ruin and undying are the ones who bring iron will/dh/unbreakable/ds every game

  • When you're in the mentality that a killer is weak, you start coming up with excuses that you're losing because of the killer's ability rather than you playing poorly. Also your reasoning for why their weak makes no sense. Their power to keep you one shot with basically no counter from the survivor's end is exactly what helps them get downs. If you have poor mind game ability and can't work around loops then that's on you, not the killer you're playing.

I perform pretty well with Legion almost always and in the cases where I don't, I wouldn't do better with more half the killers in this game and in fact I'd do worse. That includes, plague, wraith, pig, clown, ghostface, doctor, etc. and many more after that after playing them at a similar consistent level.

It depends on the map and the calibre of survivors in terms of what you should be doing or what you can do. At the start of the game as Legion I try to get at least 3 of the 4 survivors injured, but two is ok depending on the spawns and the size of the map. From there you just chase them when they're likely to be injured. If you have survivors who just hold W with Sprint Burst/Lithe/whatever you have to know when to pick your chases and go for someone else.

I remember a hard match I had as Legion on Groaning Storehouse, a very survivor-sided map, where I had difficulty catching a meg who would constantly hump main building with Lithe and just hold W with that exhaustion perk. She tried very hard to get me to chase her at strong loops and I didn't take the bait and I applied pressure elsewhere. Eventually, I was able to catch her out of position and I got a 3k.

Also...cancelling your frenzy is a thing. Most Legions I go against are the most pepega players I have ever seen and they act like you can't cancel your frenzy and reactivate it. In a situation where I'm trying to chain my power and someone sprint bursts away, I try to bait it out first, wait a little bit for it to end, and then I'll catch up to them again when I have my frenzy. Not chase then during their speed boost the entire time with frenzy lol.

  • They should've kept old undying if they were planning on reworking Small Game to what it is now and making Counterforce

That's very true. Although imo it's fairly easy to shut down Twins slugging if everyone is injured by grouping up and their recent nerf usually guarantees a kick.

Mass healing and WGLF is a counter to the slugging but at the same time mass grouping to get said heals can also put you in slugging situations too

I personally don't have much of an issue kicking Victor but I've witnessed many people have issues with doing that, even after the change

  • Holding him hostage prevents the killer from getting easier slugging situations

Majority of team injured and the healthy survivor is holding victor hostage. Now you can't slug as easily with Victor and you had to do it old fashion style

I wouldn't say it grants invisibility by any means.

Unless you're running Lucky Break with it, you still leave Scratch Marks and blood trails. To add to it, if you're running around the entire game injured with Iron Will, the second you get caught out of position by the Killer, it's most likely going to be a down unless you have SB ready. (And, even then, we've been seeing more and more Killers that are leagues better in a 1v1 compared to 1v4..)

Idk, I agree that they should have done a bigger change with Stridor, but I don't think the two should have interacted as they did in the first place- because it didn't make sense. People on the forums have been arguing for years that Stridor doesn't counter Iron Will because of the text, but the way everything was set up, it didn't work how it said. I think Iron Will is fine as it is, and I don't think it should receive any changes just because sounds constantly break on both sides. (Seriously, I've had my fair share of silent slugs and no footsteps, but I've also had my fair share of getting hit with Starstruck from the other side of the map because the Killer is running Agitation, but I had no way to know it was coming because I couldn't hear a terror radius.) That's another issue on it's own.

If you're chasing someone with Iron Will in say a jungle gym, they are basically invisibe.

Chase music is often loud enough to cover foot steps, as well as how objects (such as fire barrels) cover up noises of idle breathing. Sometimes even the killer's breathing does that too.

Scratch marks can easily be unreliable as they could start to begin to fade if they do a couple of loops around a jungle gym and then make the decision to leave. Or they could blend in with something and hide.

Agreed. I think they should dump this Stridor change and change Freddy's add-ons.

In my opinion, if anything needed to be changed of the two, Iron Will did and not Stridour.

I think it's really cheap how Iron Will is basically free invisibility and the survivor is rewarded for it for playing badly in a chase, much like Dead Hard, or the inverse; the killer is punished for doing well in a chase

Iron Will should be on a timer like Lucky Break or should be an exhaustion perk or something.

  • @GeneralV said:

The thing is, those add-ons already are pretty much useless, at least in my experience. I don't this changes makes much of a difference.

They shouldn't be making useless add ons though.

Like they either need to dump this Stridour change or change any add ons of killers that increase grunts of pain. Iron Will is pretty much brought every single game by at least one survivor, many times more than that. It's not right that killers have absolutely useless add ons

  • In no way shape or form is Bloodhound a counter. They aren't even related to each other in their functions; one is sound base, the other is visual (blood).

Iron Will's stealth ability comes from being stagnant/sat still, not constantly running. And regular blood is not that hard to see anyway.

On top of that, Lucky Break exists.
