It needed a nerf, it was way too strong. It's the only way killers can track you! Without grunts of pain, survivors vanish. It was really unfair and one-sided.

You are allowed to complain about thinking the patch ruined the game, but I cannot say that I love the patch and think people are over reacting? This is a public forum, you engaged marik1987 to tell him you don't like the patch, and I responded because I am in the thread and it's a public forum. . Did you not want anyone to respond to you hating the patch? If so then why say it to begin with. Did you just want to vent to about hating the patch and no one respond? What did you actually expect saying that then? really ? You're just mad people are happy with the patch and telling you to calm down over it. the game isn't "much" worse.

You're mad he pointed out its useless teammates and i pointed out its useless teammates quitting. I'm not ranting. This is a public discussion forum for a game, and it is being discussed. Rants are laden with expletives and insults. Discussions have points and counter points, which is all I am doing.

This mindset that you can complain and say the game is worse, but I cannot explain why I think its better, to facilitate a different viewpoint and hold a discussion, is the same behavior as the people who keep loading in and quitting.

I..what. My entire post was "this patch made the new player/solo-queue experience much worse with the self-care change which is sad" which is objectively correct. I then also noted in a reply that, yes, many of the changes in this patch affect solo survivors much more than SWF players. That's also just true.

You went on to accuse me of dragging a player for running self-care which I didnt do,had an off-the-cuff 15 page thesis on why somehow CoH was good and you're speaking from a Killer player PoV? CoH was the most busted perk survivors had since old MoM and literally anyone with enough experience in the game could tell that.

Your posts have little connection to reality and make very little sense.

for you. i love this patch. I am having the most fun ive ever had on BOTH sides. The only thing im sick of are surivors quiting. point blank. they ruin my killer games AND my survivor games, while im having a blast. Those of you who hate this patch so much do NOT speak for the entire community

the devs shook up a meta that has been stale for years, boosted the kill rates and made it harder to bully killers, and I actually feel intimidated as survivor for the first time since i first bought the game. and im still escaping

if youre not escaping your matches thats on you. not the devs, not the patch.

my man stop going on rants you're not making the slightest bit of sense

I'm not disagreeing with that. I didn't disagree with it. I pointed out we all used it and even pre patch people would get mad about people "self caring in a corner". its a classic meme. self care has long been chided for what op said. Still has nothing to do with my point that this is a new player who doesn't know any better being dragged on the forum for using a bad perk while not knowing any better. I read fine thankyou.

i'm literally the OP why are you referring to me in third person. you also should note that i literally cut out the player's name. it was a generalized point. no single player was "dragged on the forum". calm the hell down

people have been complaining about boons being nerfed since circle of healing lost much of its power in a recent patch. i did not say it was nerfed in this patch. but i consistently hear people crying about it on reddit, on here, and with the random swfs i join every so often.

You did not acknowledge my primary point which was that this is clearly a new player. If you wish to debate this, i am not pointing out that that was my core primary point. The op here is just bullying a baby survivor player. You may ENTIRELY disregard what I said about people complaining about the boons nerf. I stand by the statement but it is barely tangentially related to my core argument.

do you honestly think new players have any clue which of those two perks are better? do you know what this michaelas experience running the boon was? maybe she had it get hit with shattered hope. I had a challenge to break totems recently and broke all five and TWO players had boons. i didn't know until four totems were already popped. game was a loss anyway so after killer snuffed the final one that had the boon on it yes i broke it for my challenge.

I do not acknowledge that the boon is better than self care in all situations, thought sure in most situations- even the majority- it is better. but not always and we do not know what situations this player experience

but again, my primary point, baby survivor with baby perks making baby decisions. this is no way to build a community or attract new players to the game, especially with so many people quitting the game currently.

what? circle of healing is still an incredibly powerful perk, which is now an INCREDIBLE combo with the new botany.

you also completely missed the point of this post which it referenced at the end regarding the new self-care nerf being horrible for new players. but sure, get mad

  • @Wewantjason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3103522#Comment_3103522

These guys were pointing out that this player is michaela so it comes unlocked for her. So in OPs example, she has self care so your point isn't super applicable. but generally speaking? youre right. i imagine they get mad at anyone for not running the boon over self care but like you said *not everyone unlocks every single character.* i still don't have yun jin lee or quentin because i just didn't want them. this entire thread is a ######### post to disrespect a new player. i stand firmly on that hill.

This thread is me saying "new self-care ######### over new players". Maybe read it better.

  • @Wewantjason said:

I love how everyone is complaining that boons got nerfed then complain michaela is running self care over the healing boon.

i love how the boon takes 20 seconds to place plus the time it takes to heal. its barely faster than self care and also can be taken away AND you have to stay there. maybe she had a lot of games where the killer was in the boon raidus and got tired of it?

lastly its yellow. the small game is green. and the tiny fraction of perk number four is also green. this tells me she is a new player. we were all new at some point. and 100% of the player base ran self care when they were new until they were told not to use it. period.

this post is just bullying what i assume is either a new player or someone who just doesn't like boons since the nerf happened.

im a killer main and i love boons. take them. take the boons. waste time placing them instead of doing gens, i put the boon out, and then they waste time on it again.

self care in a corner? yeah it also wastes time. but i can't take that away from you either.

who complained about boons getting nerfed? where? what

How do you play against a good nurse? It's literally you just work off her mistakes and run putting stuff between you and the killer. Exact same gameplay as deathslinger except she has constant mobility and her power isn't a time sink or stopped by walls

I'd put billy or oni as my most balanced, both high risk and big rewards. Loopable for survivors so they don't have their skill or interaction deminished but both killers give a constant threat to a survivor team if played well

    it's a troll take lol

In the general pick I'd say Huntress. The most popular killer pick of all time.

Then I go for Sadako, Myers and Wraith, Ghostface.

While people do say Blight, I tend to disagree, same reason I disagree about Nurse. Only because they are strong and able to compete against most players doesn't necessarily make them "well-designed", so even though I choose weaker killers as mention above, I truly believe they are more.

I reflected mostly on the pick-rate of the last stats

    https://i.ibb.co/VS3VByW/killstats2022.jpg

As well as on the Dev anniversary stats where Huntress is the top pick. Based on community feedback, the love goes more to stealth killers than anything else.

Well if Trickster wastes 12 knives on you and hits the other 12, he has 20 knives left which is around the time a Trickster should probably reload (same with the Huntress having to reload). I think a Trickster may have to reload more than a Huntress after each chase though, but again this entirely depends on the player and map situation. I still think any ranged killer with good aim will down you quick at a dead zone and up close. Any killer that really wants to down a survivor in chase eventually will too.

I would say Trickster is susceptible to loops in a different way compared to Huntress though. Where she loses her speed for holding her hatchet, Trickster's knives have worse accuracy and I'm not talking about recoil (although that does play a part). His knives never shoot directly towards the center, they shoot a bit to the left or right depending on the hand throwing. This is why it is hard for a Trickster to run a loop close to the walls without one of his throwing hands throwing a knife at the wall despite aiming at the survivor. This is also why it is possible to throw a Trickster off by running in front of him and making him miss knives, although that isn't advisable as they could just back up.

But putting that into practice with a loop, a Trickster can't run a loop very tight unless he wants to m1, which could gain you distance on the loop especially if the Trickster doesn't play mechanically efficiently (putting the knives down the moment he doesn't need it). I like to play mindgames in loop chases or use small holes to throw through because of this and if it works, I am rewarded with knife hits.

But regardless, I understand those that don't have fun playing against him since his power can be overwhelming at times. I do think he can still be beaten with a planned escape route and using his weaknesses against him, but that can be said about every killer since they all have unique playstyles and ways of countering.

You see the thing is not that Trickster is stronger or weaker than huntress is that in a bunch of scenarios, say, rounding shack for example -

with Huntress you both try to mindgame each other as that one hit will cost you a healthstate. With trickster he throws 16 knives and you just gotta hug it tightly. That's my problem with him, dodging and juking is mostly meaningless and thus the counterplay is kinda boring,

Yes. She has the most balanced and well-designed killer power in the game, because she cannot auto-win on tiles, but will not auto-lose on tiles. She has the ability to make all areas in the game a 50/50 that comes down to which of the two players is better at mindgaming the other.

are we playing the same videogame

  • @SuzuKR said:

Nurse, with the exception of range add-ons and Torn Bookmark

Blight, with the exception of Alchemist Crow, C33, and C21

Has both mobility and anti-loop up constantly, which is good design, but also requires winning mindgames to land hits with the anti-loop power.

    In comparison, other killers either:

    1. Don't have near-constant mobility, which means they lose time efficiency regardless of skill if it's a big map or against hold W
    2. Don't have near-constant anti-loop, which means they lose time efficiency regardless of skill if there's strong tile setups
    3. Or don't have interactive anti-loop, which means they win or lose mostly regardless of the survivor
      1. Example: Nemesis - If the survivor vaults or drops a pallet, they guaranteed get hit by M2. If they don't, they guaranteed get hit by M1 a few seconds later. The sole and exclusive option is hold W, which hard counters Nemesis and the killer can do absolutely nothing about other than just wait to catch up. But the survivor has zero options in chase otherwise.

wait wait wait. wait wait wait. Did you just. Put. Nurse. As the most well designed Killer In the game.

You people really need to quit putting fun as an objective term. I find Spirit fun to play against and a lot of other people also do. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean she’s objectively not fun.

I can actually put it down as an objective term. I put it down as an ability for survivors to have any decent way to express their skill and try to counter the Killer. There. Solved.

Of course it's not universal as there are weirdos and masochists but this will be 90% of the community.

  • god i dont understand how do ppl have fun versing trickster like i legit dont get it

i feel like a lot of the scenarios where with huntress you need to out mindgame eachother not to lose a health state, with Trickster you just gotta take the knives and hold W because he has 4 million

I would say on-release Freddy, but I feel like maybe he'd have too much slowdown potential in this version of DBD unless they changed the type of debuff he gave for survivors in the dream world? Only one way to find out though.

If Oni wasn't bugged rn, I'd definitely say he is a very well designed killer. Blight is also very well designed with a high skill playstyle. Demo is definitely up there, but I think it has the ability to zone which may be unfun for some.

I noticed this, toom I am having a pretty good time in soloQ right now and am thoroughly enjoying myself, but I'm not doubting that its hellish for some others.

I am still trying to figure out of its "just a skill issue", saltiness because of the changes or something else entirely. But I can't just talk this people down and call it a day.

This showcases again what I think is always the problem: different MMR brackets in dbd have different balancing issues and problems, yet al play under the same rules and checks n balances. I am not saying that we should have different rules for the different levels of play, but maybe ot could be the solution and should be thought about?

I honestly wonder if the alternate timeline of Rank based matchmaking is enjoying a far,far better time...

Dayum, this coming from you really surprises me! Not that I am doubting the validity of your experiences, but I am just confused and startled.

Besides the first couple of days, my soloQ games have been pretty normal; yes, survival now isn't a given and you gotta pull your weight and can't let yourself grt carried, and there is a noticeable uptick in tunneling, but I am pretty sure that I am escaping around 50% of the time and things feel pretty good by now.

If I do get tunneled I am usually back in the next game within 3min, so I don't take it that badly, but I certainly would if I got tunneled every other game (which isn't the case for me).

At best you can expect some easy cheat update, however that will never fix the problem.

Everything should be server sided, but devs dont like to do that, because servers cost way more that way, also the net requirement would be higher.

The main reason to not do anything, because average dbd player dont care about cheaters, they will play anyway, there is no reason to do anything

Yeah. I know. I've said that the only reason they won't solve the problem is because they'd need to spend too much time and money.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

Dead hard validation punished killers for having low ping, because the lower the killer's ping is, the easier it is to dead hard on reaction to a killer lunge.

Do you remember the short period of time when killers could see every single time they got validated, because they would hear the survivor scream and see the blood splatter? We learned from that experience that a killer could have low ping, and still get validated a few times per game. We were told the validation was supposed to just punish people for having low ping, but it was way overtuned in the survivor's favor.

And people are still using dead hard on reaction in my games, so I will still complain about it. BHVR buffed dead hard on reaction during the meta shakeup, and it's more annoying than before on the people that are still running it.

So what you're saying is that.. you're really mad that survivors have a good reaction time and you cannot abuse bad ping to hit them with an unreactable lunge?

You get validated because that's networking. The server is supposed to be the authority.

You just got used to the game being extremely in favor of Killer on the networking side (which is still is!) and now are complaining so much when things become more fair. It's hilarious.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3098990#Comment_3098990

Nothing gets rolled back for the killer anymore, because now the server is supposed to register a hit regardless of a killer was validated or not. Why should the survivor still get a rollback for their dead hard?

And why did BHVR give survivors a perfect rollback, but give killers a half finished rollback that still ate some of the killer powers because the game didn't actually rollback the hit properly? It's like grab validation, where killers got this half finished rollback where they still don't have their grab attempt properly rolled back. And killers still have a problem with aim dressing, where the server registers a hit, but will rollback the hit if the camera yank causes the weapon to no longer connect with the survivor. Killers have so many rollback issues, but it's totally ok for survivors to get a perfect rollback?

Killer gets an inherent advantage at high ping. You just got a killer sided patch. You're still complaining. stop crying about survivors not getting exhausted when they use DH and just go down.

Because at least for a while, botanist + medkit healing was giving ZERO badge progress. As in, I healed the entire match using ONLY the medkit, and got ZERO badge progress for healing.

"Validation is more fair than not."

There has been a problem with hit validation in video games that dates back over 20 years. In the case of two players with different ping they often look at the slow player's ping instead of the faster player.

DBD uses this mechanic too. Why is that a problem?

For 20 years now you have players who have been doing things like press a button on their mouse to throttle their internet while they scope in on someone's head. The enemy pauses for one half a second and then when the game tracks everything it says yea you got a headshot - good job.

Using the slower player enables the opportunity for people to cheat. Back in 2016 the best offering to use in DBD was what? I'll give you a second to guess. My friend invented this and it's completely insidious.

The best offering was : The Ken Burns civil war documentary. Open that up in about 5-10 browsers at the same time while the game was loading and you could pretty much guarantee someone would DC. Then you played a game vs three people. It was also a pretty reliable way to "close the hatch" before that was implemented into the game.

This trick doesn't do anything now since we have have dedicated servers and you won't find the full documentary in one video on youtube anymore. But people are still reducing their ping by nefarious methods to get hits they should not.

Yeah but the thing is that Dedicated Server is glorified peer-to-peer. I've touched upon this glaring issue of DBD's technical side in this thread of mine.

The dead hard validation wasn't fair though. Some survivors said they went months without ever being exhausted on the ground, which means 100% of the times they pressed dead hard, the server ruled in their favor. Due to fact that games have lag, if the validation was fair, then there should have been some games where the survivor pressed dead hard in between the server registering a hit, and the hit showing up on the survivor's screen. But since that was never happening for those survivors, the server validation was basically emulating a survivor client validation.

The famous exhasuted on the ground only occurs when there is no server check and the killer just says the hit happens.

What happens after validation with lag by the survivor is that their E just doesn't happen
