Your tweak literally changes nothing.
Survivors could simply wait outside "x" meters just like before.
You admit yourself you didn't play many games during that PTB, so why should we consider your recount as valid reason to give this mechanic a second chance?
Well, if he stands outside of that radius, whats the issue? The killer can chase him and the hook timer goes down normal speed again
-
It's part of "being a killer" imo, I see nothing wrong about giving survivors false hope

Plague should be pretty bottom tier. Nobody cleanses and makes you just an M1 button on legs. Strong or not all of the "fun" of her power goes out the window a minute in.
Yeah I agree. Against meta survivors Plague is an M1 killer. Strong cuz insta downs, but boring af.

Hag is boring af. Place some traps on decent spots and "Just wait" till they get triggered. Wow, so much fun and interaction.

PSA: When one of their teammates is getting camped, the other survivors have a very simple counter they more often than not refuse to utilize: focusing on the remaing generators. This counter produces a 75% win-rate for them, which in any normal game would be considered insanely overpowered and in need of a sledgehammer-nerf.
Noed.

1. The title made me lol
2. These "small" changes have bigger implications and the spaghetti code of this game might not make such a change as easy as I should be
Changing button smashing to button holding is absolutly simple. I could do that by myself with AHK. But as I said, it's just an example. Why do we still not have Trapper carrying 2 traps by default? It's changing one single number.
-
@Cymer said:
Some QLC like the Trapper can carry 2 traps by default would only be a number tweak. With the existence of the add-ons there are already mechanics programmed, so no big deal. Everyer Trapper would rejoice and it wouldn't break the game. At least test it on the PTB.
There are a lot similar QL changes throughout the game, that would be easy to implement.
Yeah this is another example of an easy change. It's basically just changing the number of default traps from 1 to 2. Simple. Test it in a PTB. Is it good? Fine. Is it not good? Remove it again.

I agree struggle needs to be changed. I think there was even a dev reply on one thread complaining about it and someone thought up to replace mashing with skill checks and a dev said that seemed like a good idea. (IMHO Missing a skill check should just remove a chunk of your struggle meter so one slip up doesn't = instant death)
Currently struggling, simply put, sucks. I get the whole "It's supposed to be a struggle! Immersion!" argument but even the torture sequences in the Metal Gear franchise (Which had you often mashing triangle or whatever like a madman for 2 minutes straight on harder difficulties) felt less "oppressive" because there, not mashing fast enough had a leeway (Your O2 meter would start running out, and THEN your life gauge would deplete in MGS2, or your life gauge would deplete and you could recover it via mashing in MGS1 and Peace Walker.) to it and even if you weren't mashing fast enough you had room to correct your mistake. It's also something that happens maybe once or twice per playthrough.
DBD? The absolute microsecond you're not mashing fast enough for the game's standards, be it your hand slipping once, or your rhythem is thrown off, or a lag spike happens, etc. you just die. There's been times where I WAS mashing like a madman and died anyway for no explainable reason.
It's not immersive, it's plain annoying, harmful on the wrist, can damage the keyboard over time, noisy, (Ever played in SWF with comms, a guy is hooked, and you just hear him smashing keyboard super loud through his microphone?) and it's something that's part of normal gameplay.
If we removed the mindless mashing and replaced it with skillchecks, (Or holding space to struggle, or auto-struggle and you hold space to die, etc.) would fun or enjoyment be taken out of the game? Because to me, I wouldn't miss it one bit.
This, very well explained. We all wouldn't miss anything by removing it. We would just have a better experience

I'm not acting that way at all. But you're the one basically telling me to just shut up and accept it as the word of God. I never suggested that for you.
Also I feel like you'd get hand and wrist pain more from the mouse movements of this game than just pressing spacebar...you don't even have to press it fast. Just consistently. People cramping their hands up are probably under the impression that they have to tap really fast, which you don't. You can hit spacebar pretty slowly and it won't change a thing.
Show me those plenty of people who enjoy the butting smashing.

I never had any issues with his reveal tbh (while playing him at least, I assume I'm always too far away when I try to reveal him)
I have, many other have aswell. U can watch one of the latest videos of Puppers on youtube going against ghostface. Sometimes he couldn't reveal him looking directly to him, other times he revealed ghostface behind a wall with full cover, other times he revealed ghostface without even knowing where he is.

How about you accept that there's also plenty of people that don't want it changed. Why are you acting like your opinion is the end all be all? And are you ######### kidding me? Health issues keeping you from using Mouse Wheel Down or Spacebar? LMFAO
It's clear you just find it tedious and want it switched, so just say that. No need to get all dramatic and superior.
"plenty of people"? Show me those plenty of people lol, it's just some handful of hardcore killer mains who hate survivors so much that they are even against QoL changed which aren't touching the balance of the game.
Idk the name of that health issue, but there are people who have issues with their hand coordination and can't press buttons repeatedly. Also, a lot of people complained about having hand wrist pain of that.
Why are you acting like your opinion is the end all be all?

Unfinished product, revealing is frustrating for both sides cuz it's inconsistent. Noone wants to play a killer with a buggy power.

Change struggle to Mouse Wheel Down.
Also funny how nobody complains about the game breaking their A and D buttons lol
Still annoying. People still have health issues and can't mouse wheel down for a whole minute without break.
Stop being against a QoL change for no reason. Accept that people don't like it and accept that people want to be changed.

Guys, try not to derail the thread too much, there are plenty of other places to debate the validity of the struggle mechanic but that's not actually the point here.
In response to the OP, I'm curious as to whether you yourself are a game designer. I'm not myself a game designer specifically, but I am a designer, and the design process overlaps a lot across disciplines. Often, things that users consider a "small fix" are not actually as simple as they first appear.
In contrast to your suggestion that the devs don't care enough about the community to make all the small changes to the game that are being requested, I would argue that the reality is quite the opposite. They care so much about their game and about player satisfaction that they don't want to just stick band-aids all over it. Instead, they want to listen to community feedback, carefully consider it, brainstorm solutions, conduct preliminary tests on their own, and iterate on the design until they find something they think works. For all we know, they could be working on solutions to all the issues you mentioned as I type this. They just don't want to say anything to us until they have something concrete enough that they can go, "Okay, we've thought about this and here's what we've come up with, what do you guys think?"
Uhm, are you aware that the devs are band-aid fixing the game with perks since release? And then you come here and tell me this change is a band-aid fix? I think you don't know the meaning of band-aid fixing stuff

Lol I hate when people say this "Struggle damages my keyboard" Like...you don't have to smash the ######### button. You can lightly tap it. By that logic, typing an essay or a large post on here damages your spacebar too. I mean, how many times have I smashed spacebar in this one post? Or you can just change it to Mouse Wheel Down, or any other button you desire. You can even set a macro to F or something. And on PS4, it has NO effect on the controller, more so than any other game.
I really don't think struggle needs to be changed. The only thing that sucks is if you die on a lag spike, but that might be fixed with dedicated servers.
A key has a limited amount of strokes he can handle till it breaks. Or did you saw a keyboard which never had broken keys? Guess which keys are gonna get destroyed the fastest in dbd? A, D and spacebar
-
Maybe it's just in my matches, but it seems like some spots om springwood are overkill. Not for me, I can still find them quite quickly since in use hex perks by myself and remembered nearly all spots. But for the average gamer... They are not gonna find it. I'M usually the only one who finds the totems on springwood. My teammates never find them. And I never hunt ruin, I just check the usual spots while running to the next gen and start repairing.
-
Lmao BHVR will NEVER do that, even when they would swim in money like noone else. Companies won't gift you money without a reason behind it. A reason which gives them more profit. That's how business works.
I can imagine iridescent shards hunt, but even that is extremely unlikely to happen.

I haven't said that we should go back to Old Legion. I, in fact, think it is a bad idea for that to happen. "No Counter play." I feel is very very thrown around these days though. That's just a band-aid excuse. People say it about literally every Killer they have issues with, regardless of if it's true or not. There is also no "rule" against tunneling other than being called every bad name under the sun as well. (Note That i DIDN'T say tunneling was OKAY.) There was counter play even in the Old Legion. Loop him, lose line of sight, be sneaky. Is there supposed to be a huge amount of counter play 1v1 any way? If so, what is the point of the Killer trying to kill anyone if he can't even get the lone people? Skill ALWAYS matters.
Now, all that said, I still only see opinions and not proof. I Prestige 3'ed Old Legion, lost as well. I had people counter play me. I had people get away. Guess why? I didn't even think of using the Exploit. Using the New Legion is just an exercise in frustration.
Why are we discussing this now when you don't want old Legion back aswell? We both agree old Legion was bad for the game, topic done.

Really? I am curious why you say that. What is your reasoning? (Also, cause text has no context etc, I am really curious and not being sarcastic at all.)
Well, the rework was needed cuz it was completely unskilled and unhealthy. You don't remember how old Legion was? Press m2, attack attack attack attack attack. There was no counter play in 1v1 situation. The skill of the survivors didn't matter. Someone who picked up Legion was able to "outplay" survivors with multiple thousand hours the same day. And tunneling was something everyone hated.
The rework was needed. Am I happy how Legion is now? Nope, to weak. But better and healthier than the old Legion.
-
The exploit wasn't even the main reason for the legion nerf. He was an unhealthy killer for the game

I think if they make it only usable on someone who has been hooked twice, or who entered the struggle phase, that's fine. I don't see a reason that an offering should have such an effect on a matches outcome. It should just grant you a cool killing animation and let you not waste time carrying that survivor to a hook. Maybe have the rarity of the Moris reduced then.
To balance this out, they should also nerf insta heals and maybe keys as well. Those seem to be the biggest contenders for needing some nerf. Insta heals should just be heals over time, maybe like 16 seconds or so.
The issue to that: why using mori offerings then? Would rather use bp or other offerings which are giving me an advantage. Moris usually take longer than just hooking + you won't get bbq aura reading and PGTW activated.
-
I pass.
A mori has basically 2 issues: the ability to tunnel mori someone early in the game. And ebony moris giving you the ability to mori everyone.
My fix: u can't mori anyone before hooking everyone at least once. If you use an ebony mori, you still can mori only 1 survivor, but instead of hooking everyone once, you only have to hook 2 survivors (side note to ebony moris: you can only mori someone who got hooked).
-
The bushes and cornfields are just to overpowered against myers. You literally can't stalk someone running very close to you. This needs to be fixed. Also, I feel like both of his stalking speed addons should be basekit. It just takes to long without them.
-
@Crazewtboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/662847#Comment_662847
yeah, but there is plenty of posts about the mori already. This guy seems to be missing the point that it is an asymmetrical game. The killer is suppose to be at an advantage. Also, it's not like you see them every match. He is just mad that he lost to something the developers implemented in the game. Could they be tweaked? Yes. But the OP is literally crying to remove it from the game because it makes it challenging for him. There is a difference between complaining for a gameplay perspective taking in both sides, and crying because you lost to something.
I don't agree with that. Just because "it's the killer" doesn't mean wins should be ez af just because of an offering. It's a pvp game. When winning gets unskilled and feels unfair a lot of people will drop the game. Noone likes to play a game expecting to lose every time no matter how skilled you are.
-
@thekiller490490 said:
While dodging lobbies is annoying, the point of killers seeing survivors is so they can prepare as much as possible for the match. Killer should have a upper hand in preparation even if it's for just their items. Killers that don't want to deal with a possible SWF or a lot of toolboxes will probably dodge. Not what it was meant to be, but if the option is there, people will use it. However, killers shouldn't loose that preparation because of dodging.
While killers actually prepare themselves against the lobby's (I do. 4 toolboxes = Nurse), to many simply dodge. I wish there would be an anti dodge mechanic
-
@Crazewtboy said:
They aren't going anywhere anytime soon. My best advice is to suck it up and deal with it instead of complaining (because it is just a game) or move on to a different game/play killer.
Why not complaining? Complaining is the only wax to show the devs what is wrong
-
Let's change the struggle mechanic first before punishing people for suiciding because they have health issues and can not press spacebar repetitively like an ape, or people who have room mates sleeping and don't want to annoy them to much with pressing spacebar like a machine-gun, or people who bought an expensive keyboard and don't want to break it faster in the long term run... OR People who just simply don't want to be a like an ape.
First fix that mechanic. After that we can discuss that again.
-
DOCTOR
lmao, people see him as very strong just because he can find survivors at the beginning very easy. But after that he is a super ez loopable M1 killer. His m2 is NOT anti loop at all. It only works on loops which are already unsafe. But why do you need his m2 on unsafe loops? Just use M1 lol.
Also, as billy for example I can find survivors in the first 10 seconds of the game. And anyway: on high ranks survivors don't give a ######### about getting found. They see you and run to a safe spot to start the chase.
-
@pemberley said:
Distressing, Unnerving Presence, Overcharge, Ruin is the best. Saw maps are the best offerings. Doc has pretty good add ons you can play around with - the only one not worth it is the knight piece and the donut shape electric field.
Disgusting.

Mother Daughter ring is an awesome addon. Don't rely on scratch marks when you phase. The sound is only important about this character.
Exactly, that's why many people say spirit is a headset killer. You just need a good headset and good ears, that's it. Good that more and more people are seeing it that way now, thanks.
-
Rarity doesn't validate the powerfulness (is that a word? Idk, I'm not native English) of an addon/item/offering. If it's to strong, op, unhealthy for the gameplay it needs a change. Rarity doesn't matter.

I cant help but think this is mostly from people not understanding their cover or line of sight well enough.
Granted iv had numerous times where I'd get revealed easy or be on someone's ass and keep stealth. But in just about all of them it boiled down to how good my cover was to their line of sight. Little to none, I got spotted. Going in/out of it, I'd keep stealth.
No, ghostface is an unfished product. The whole revealing mechanic is buggy on both sides.
-
Myers is more consistent and has better control of his power, besides larger lunge in t3, faster vaulting and smaller TR in t2.
It's nearly like comparing Billy with Leatherface. Myers would be Billy and ghostface Leatherface
-
I can see potential here.
If the killer and survivors write to each other "gl have fun" it's gonna be a less toxic match I guess and less toxic endgame. And when someone is already toxic in the pre game chat you can decide to leave now or keep the chat closed in the after game.
Good idea!

If anything from the PTB when they changed self care taught us, 100% healing speed with just taking self care and botany was not balanced at all. It was very overpowered and drastically reduced the amount of teamwork survivors did.
If you want 100% healing speed for healing yourself, bring a medkit. That's what they're there for.
But it would be selfcare+botany+we'll make it. 3 perks.
But hey, if you want to keep the being injured genrush with adrenaline meta, go ahead. I want some changes to the same boring gameplay we play and verse every time.
-
First of all, bodyblocking collission is invisible after one hit.
Second: that's not what I want. I just want a healing bonus for selfcare. And not 300%+ or whatever the speed in the video is.
Just having 100% healing speed would be great and balanced.
Why are people overreacting and showing extremes I didn't even want to have?
-
Just always spend bp till around 870k so in case everyone in the lobby drops bps you won't max our and lose bp.
-
@Hoodied said:
Because nobody likes being able to heal yourself instantly after being hit
@newavitar said:
Because as the first comment said, with the right build you almost always had an "instant heal" without the add-on. It was broken.
Maybe I should have said it in the beggining: obviously the healing speed wouldn't be the same. But just faster than without it. Lets with with all healing speed perks and a medkit: 10 seconds. That's not an insta heal. And you can't just heal 10 seconds in front of the killers face without wasting around 5+ pallets. Also keep in mind that people wouldnt use adrenalin anymore or other meta perks like dead hard, iron will etc. It's gonna be meta shifts. An healthy meta shift imo. Something we need and all want. Aren't we sick to see always the same few perks used on high level plays? It's getting boring for me

So were openly promoting de ranking on the forums too now?
Shame..
Yeah, whats the issue? Deranking is not a bannable offense and ranking is meaningless anyway. Everyone does that. Those who don't like to sweat their butts off on high ranks against spirits bit always see themselves pipping are absolutly free to derank into purple ranks to verse some billys. I see absolutly nothing wrong about that. Especially since devs locked the newcomers in their own ranks (15-20) so noone can destroy them with to much experience.
-
Yes, just derank. Use a meme build and just head on stun the killers the whole match. Don't escape. If you do that for some hours you will be at purple rank and should verse some billys again.
Btw, nice side effect by deranking that way: you earn BP and XP but you are also not completely useless for your team mates.
-
There is no fun in grinding. At least not that insane amount of grinding we have here rn
