I personally think the 6th anniversary will be either. Predator, Alien, Friday the 13th or Five nights at Freddy’s

Im betting FNaF or Friday, either one I'd be happy with.

It's going to be another two or three years at the least before Friday can be used.

Yes, the main lawsuit has been decided, but there are still years of legal questions and appeals ahead of us (the question of who actually owns Jason, the hockey mask-wearing undead serial killer hasn't been asked yet), and then a deal would have to be worked out after that, and then BHVR actually has to create a character concept, program him into the game, and test him.

Only hope for a shorter timeline is if everyone involved in the original lawsuit decides to shake hands and make a mutually beneficial deal with BHVR.

Also, keep in mind that the writer of the original script didn't envision Jason as a killer, and if he gets the rights to the character, you might have to kiss anything featuring Jason the machete-wielding monster goodbye, depending on how he feels about that going forward.

We need more classic monsters. Where the hell are Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and the Wolf Man? Those aren't even licensed characters anymore in their original literary forms. There's no reason why we couldn't have Dracula or Carmilla tomorrow if BHVR decided they wanted it.

Even if they wanted to wait until they could convince Universal to let them use Bela Lugosi's image for Dracula or whatever, Carmilla doesn't have a definitive iconic copyrighted image in film, and it's hard to go wrong with a werewolf. Pretty sure Jewel of Seven Stars is public domain, for that matter, so a mummy could happen. And they could always use Count Orlok from Nosferatu without asking permission.

Is Tombstone Piece reasonably fun, though? Getting deleted at 5 gens because Myers stalked a Meg on a generator and found you next isn't particularly fun. There's virtually no interactivity, just hi, bye, and queue up again, better luck next match.

At least with Judith's, he typically has to get stalk off you. It doesn't create particularly enjoyable games, but it's balanced. Piece can be activated very early and ends up being a 'too bad' for whoever gets caught first. There isn't even a chance of counterplay unless you treat all Myers like they have instakills and jump in lockers (which will make you much easier to kill if he doesn't have them), because Piece is activated too quickly to really give off the telltale warning signs that you're facing a tombstone Myers.

Judith's isn't balanced. If you're playing against any group of survivors that have had the game for more than a month, you're getting exactly zero kills unless they decide to be generous and let you slaughter them because they think you're going for the achievement.

Piece is balanced by the fact that you're banking your entire strategy on that one addon, since you're also going to need a stalk speed addon and a couple of slowdown perks to go with it. You still have to stalk multiple people, you still lose EWIII when you use it, you still can't use it more than twice even if you're lucky, and you're still going to get a low amount of BP and probably depip - all for getting an easy kill with one of the "weakest" killers in the game.

On the contrary, it's easy to know if Myers has a Tombstone Piece if you notice him stalking multiple people before hitting EWIII. If he had to stalk everyone for a minute and a half and his hand is open, it's Judith's. If not, it's either Tombstone Piece or Fragrant, and the counterplay is for both is mostly the same - get the ######### away. Tombstone Piece has an additional counterplay in the form of keeping a small distance from or dodging and ducking around Myers in order to trick or force him to go for lunges in order to get you down (he has to be right next to you and use a basic non-lunge attack in order to grab you - this can be exploited more easily than you'd think).

It might not seem fair if Myers just walks up behind you and deletes you from the game out of nowhere, but neither does getting sighted before the other survivors in a regular game and and tunneled to death, or coming across a good Nurse or Blight, or facing a Boil Over RPD bully squad as a killer. Sometimes good luck is the only counterplay in this game, and it's not like Myers is popular or that TP is even a popular build among those of us who main him. You really want him nerfed?

  • @Crowman said:

From what I know there's a general consensus that Tomestone Piece is busted and should be changed.

The reason Judith's doesn't get the same thing is because it essentially requires another iri addon to function and both increase the time to stalk by a large amount and it makes Myers slower so you essentially need Play With Your Food stacks to do anything with it.

And all of that equates to Judith's being completely useless in any actual competitive game.

Tombstone Piece isn't a common addon, and at least it actually does something.

There's also a general consensus that Michael is one of the "worst" killers in the game, so I don't see why it matters if he has one addon that's actually powerful. It also essentially requires you to equip another addon to increase stalk speed in order for it to be any more usable than Judith's, so it takes up two addon slots, plus at least a perk slot or two for slowdown.

And how often do you see it, after all? I'm a Michael main, and I have fifty-something unused Tombstone Pieces lying around; it's not a staple in any of my builds or in any of the major Myers builds that I know of. It's a fun thing to play around with, but running it is a gamble considering that you need a good bit of stalk to use it to gain a competitive edge, and it precludes running any other addons and costs at least a perk slot or two on top of that.

Your only hope in using Tombstone Piece to gain a competitive advantage is to run something like Lethal Pursuer and try to get a kill in before more than one gen pops (and even then, you have to fully stalk one survivor and then go find another one to stalk), and then you can only get two kills out of it, max.

Judith's Tombstone is useless and needs a buff.

    @SunsetSherbet said:

I just don't think nerfing one of if not the worst killer in the game is healthy for the game at all. And unfortunately the devs have no plans to buff Michael, so the add ons should remain until they do.

On the contrary, Michael got a huge buff recently, albeit not one that many people talk about. Vanity Mirror used to be a completely useless addon, but now it's even more busted than Tombstone Piece if you combine it with Dead Rabbit and M&A. No terror radius, plus X-ray vision without the speed penalty of using Cracked Mirror.

This was one of the most brilliant things they could have done to turn Michael into a competitive killer, and nobody seems to have even noticed.

    @Pulsar said:

Tombstone Piece is wacky and needs a change.

However, literally every time I've seen a Judith's + Fragrant Tuft of Hair Myers they've taken a huge L.

The last one I saw ran four slowdown perks. Iirc, it was Corrupt, PGTW, Pain Resonance and Dead Man's Switch.

He didn't even pop Tier III until after the gens were done and he only got a Kill because Kate t-bagged him at the Exit Gate. Which, let me tell you, was pretty hysterical.

Yep. This is what Tombstone Piece is really useful for. 99% it and grab one of the T-baggers at the exit gates. There is no better feeling in this world.

Anybody with two brain cells knows Tombstone Piece is just broken. It's ridiculously easy to hit T3 with it and Mori someone.

It's not any more broken than Dead Hard, CoH, or the baskits of killers like Nurse and Blight.

You do have to work hard for it, and it's not something you can use all game or run without risk. It's not something you see in every Myers game for a reason.

    @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

They are not. I am sorry, but how fair is just coming to someone, who you might not even chase or see whole game and just delete them out of the game?!

"But it takes sooo long..." - No, doesn't metter. You can equip like 4x full slowdowns.

I don't get why people are okay with these add-ons. Also, some people even will complain about Survivors only defense againts it = locker. Wow.

These add-ons are super outdated and should be reworked.

You can read my main points above, but Myers doesn't need a nerf of any kind. Half of his addons are complete ass, and the other half are so insane that they can actually make him useful.

I take issue with people calling him the weakest killer in the game because of Vanity Mirror, Dead Rabbit, and (to a lesser degree) Tombstone Piece, but nerf any at all and people like Otz might actually have a point.

Haven't heard of Horror Legends before. After watching a trailer for it, it def looks rough but, it's not even in a 1.0.0 state yet so, I'll give it some slack. I'm also guessing since the last update was on Dec 19th, it looks like the game has been abandoned. It's always a shame whenever any aysm game goes that road. :/

Yeah, it's a little rough, but this is Full Moon Productions. The gameplay is some of the best out of all the DBD clones, though, IMO.

I don't think it'll honestly ever have a AAA-type polish to it, but it's fun, and the aesthetic is charming. It's also not all that terribly unpolished, either - the art style is good and the game looks nice, the voice acting is decent, the gimmick is well thought-out. I can get pretty bored of Secret Neighbor or White Noise 2, but I'd play Horror Legends all day if there were games going.

I don't think it'll ever have anywhere near the playerbase that DBD or some of these other games have, but those of us who enjoy it really seem to love it. I think it'll always have a smaller than average but more passionate than average playerbase.

But Scott also donated to Pro LGBTQ and has friends he supports and his community is part LQBTQ. There not stripping there rights it doesn’t ######### matter if your gay or trans. Are they going to kick you out of the country or not give you a job cause of your ethics of being gay or trans? No

A lot of Republicans are working behind the scenes to turn the clock back on LGBT rights.

I don't think they're actually going to enjoy any degree of success, but they would do it if they could.

Donald Trump himself has said that he wouldn't have a problem supporting a gay president if one was elected. One can argue that his track record on the matter isn't perfect, but that's still a pretty big deal coming from the god of the right-wing party in America, and I think it's a sign that the anti-LGBT agenda is in its death throes, but I don't think it's good to minimize the fact that those people are still out there.

Cut the intellectual dishonesty. Those politicians actively tried to fight for success, with the promise they'd work to tear down LGBT+ rights if they made it in. Luckily, they weren't able to get away with every single thing they tried to do. LGBT+ wellbeing still took a large hit from those that did make it as far as they did. And you are still responsible for what happens when you actively vote for and donate to people that actively promise they will try their best to strip away LGBT+ human rights. Donating to charities with zero legal sway is not even remotely comparable to donating to actual politicians who have the power to change legislation.

That's all absolutely true, but it's still a messed-up situation just because America is hopelessly a two-party system. What are you supposed to do when neither party aligns exactly with your interests?

I'm bisexual, and I lean towards Democrats on most (but not all) issues. I wanted gay marriage to be legalized, and it was. I wanted marijuana to be legalized, and it was (I was just old enough to cast a vote on the matter, and I did, and we won - proud Coloradan here). At the time, I really had no problem voting Democrat on just about everything, because they mostly supported the things that I did, and the things that they were more against that I supported (such as gun rights) seemed like non-issues.

Nowadays, I think that LGBT rights and marijuana legalization are here to stay, but I'm less sure about gun rights. On top of that, the Democrats are talking about abolishing the filibuster in order to just pass whatever they want, and that's honestly a little scary. Every bit as scary as it would have been if the Republicans had done that when they had the majority, back when Democrats in the House and Senate all signed resolutions expressly supporting the filibuster.

I support the Democrats' voting rights legislation, but I can't in good conscience support them nuking the filibuster in an attempt to get it passed, because it would lead to Democrats also passing a ton of legislation that I definitely don't agree with in addition to the things that I think are more common sense, and a short-sighted move like that would also mean an end to LGBT, abortion, etc. rights just as soon as the Republicans got a majority again.

On the other hand, it looks like the only people I could ally myself with in opposition in an anti-democratic move that would lead to the removal of gun rights in the short term and potentially an attack on LGBT and abortion rights in the long term is a party full of homophobes. I'm wary of that, for obvious reasons.

To play devil's advocate: Should we avoid allowing anyone who has ever supported the Republican party in any capacity whatsoever to make money off of their art, regardless of their personal views? Where does it end?

I realize that political discussion isn't encouraged on the forums, and I'm not trying to start a debate on all of these issues in general (and I also wasn't the one who started this discussion, anyway). I'm just illustrating that the political situation here is complex. It's not like European countries where you get to pick one of fifty parties that might support your views exactly and still have a chance of making it into office. You have two choices, and they're both petty , unwilling to share the country with the other side, and full of selfish, money-grubbing pigs who would implement some very terrible ideas if given free reign to do so.

  • Wraith was a complete joke before his buff. Now some people are arguing that Spirit after her nerf is basically a blind Wraith, but I still find that the time it takes for Wraith to uncloak makes him an annoying character to play with (despite how spiffy he looks in his Dracula outfit - only reason I gave him a chance). May play him more at some point and see if it's something I can overcome.

It only works good with an instadown killer. So it always be a trade.

A normal killer can be outplayed with BT and bodyblocking.

Even an instadown killer can be outplayed by ignoring the hook. Facecamping guarantees a 1K at best if survivors know what you're doing. I'm just surprised enough killers are doing it that they're still thinking about nerfing/punishing it. I guess it's a great way to mine salt in the EGC if that's your deal; maybe that's who they're going after.

I mean, you just make offline mode not give any rewards (which it shouldn’t). Then the idea is to only use it as little as possible.

Back when I used to pirate all my games, I would have loved this idea, but I'm actually glad I was forced to buy the game and play online with other people.

  • A lot of people consider Michael to be the weakest killer in the game, but I just got a 4K at 5 gens.

For people who haven't been paying attention, Otz made a video not too long ago where he played all the best killer meta builds and dominated every game. I don't agree with everything that he says, but he did make a decent argument that killers aren't completely outclassed as long as you're willing to hit below the belt a little.

I think the biggest nerf to killers in general has been due to map reworks more than anything that was done to the state of killer itself. Coldwind and Gideon's can decide a game on their own, and Hawkins (one of the best killer maps) is now gone.

Here is a quote from GoodBoyKarus summary thread for the QnA stream where they talked about it (only design phase and they haven’t mentioned anything more):

"Any plans to make being facecamped less punishing?"

Yeah, they do. Facecamping has been a thorn for a while- they don't like that it has been such an appealing option for so long. In theory, it is very easily countered, but in practice (especially vs solos) it takes a long time for players to realise the hooked survivor is being camped and they should rush gens. However, on the same vein they don't want to remove proxy camping (a killer vibing near-ish to the hooked survivor), since it's a very legitimate strategy. So getting something that doesn't impact proxy camping but does impact facecamping is very difficult. And every time they tried it, there's always been an easily exploitable way of breaking the deal.

They recently had another idea, and it's going through the design team right now. When will you see it? If history repeats itself, then probably never, but this one might be different, who knows?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/285995/holy-the-devs-did-a-dev-stream-again-and-i-watched-it-again-so-you-dont-have-to-again

    Thanks.

But... is it really such an "appealing option"? I don't tend to win games when I facecamp everyone. There are always teams who will throw themselves at the hook no matter what (especially during the EGC, the only time when facecamping becomes a legitimately good idea), but facecamping just straight-up isn't a good strategy in general. It doesn't work, in theory or in practice, unless you're up against a bunch of potatos (and if all you know how to do is camp, enjoy going up against survivors who know how to counter you after your SBMM level-up).

It can be useful in combination with tunneling to get rid of a survivor early in the game, but even that's a gamble. Three gens might just pop on the other end of the map as the survivor enters the second hook state.

Aside from the EGC, I only facecamp to troll obnoxious players. It usually means throwing the game in order to just get rid of that one guy who ######### up every one of my hooks with a flashlight, loops me for three gens, and then has the audacity to T-bag and shine his flashlight in my face at every pallet on top of it.

Other than the very occasional Basement Bubba, I don't see anyone who plays this way, either. And I don't even really see Basement Bubba all that much these days, either, probably because nobody falls for that except in the SBMM equivalent of brown ranks.

  • @AngyKiller said:

The devs can't be bothered to spend 30 minutes fixing stretched res cheating, so do you really think they're going to make an entire offline mode?

It already exists. It just can't be played by/against anyone other than Trapper at present. It'd probably take all of thirty minutes to add the code making it playable by or against other killers. The AI probably wouldn't be good against a lot of them, though, so you'd still have to do most of your practicing in online games against real people.

Not sure I want it added, either, though. An offline mode means significantly less people playing online at any given time.

  • I think her low kill percentage is a sign that people are learning her. People who play her well probably net an 80-90% kill rate. The ones who are still learning her are responsible for her being at 40% kill rate overall.

  • @Mooks said:

They are currently planning a concept against face camping but that might never even make it to PTB/live game.

we don’t know anything further about it, as they have said they often have various game concepts that don’t make it to the game.

When did they say this? Did they say what they have planned?

I hope they don't punish facecamping. I don't do it often, but there are some survivors who are asking for it. The threat of bring facecamped is a good deterrent for toxic behavior.

I don't like it when killers do it all game for no reason, but that's already punished by loss of emblems/bloodpoints and by survivors just doing gens.

  • @Aurelle said:

Here I am talking about Boil Over (again).

I have been using Boil Over a lot recently (mainly to see how it affects matches) and I noticed that every time I run it the killers will camp me on first hook, tunnel me, or slug me to death. Like I know it's an annoying perk and everything, but most maps I get and most places that I get downed it doesn't even make a difference. I don't even bring perks to pair with it.

Killers must really hate this perk if seeing someone bring it causes these reactions.

It doesn't make me mad. In fact, I've only seen it a couple of times since the update, and I haven't seen anyone pull off an infinite with it in the actual game (have seen videos of it here).

I still tunnel and camp survivors running Boil Over to death, yes. It is always good to be proactive.

  • >Otherwise you're literally comparing apples and oranges.

    Ugh.

  • @xxshyguyxx said:

    So that's what that was?????

I played a match yesterday with all cross platform players, and was surprised I got messages in my chat at endgame.

It could have been a Stadia player. When I play on Stadia (I also have the game on Steam; there is cross-progression), I apparently look like a console player to people playing on Steam, so they're sometimes surprised that I'm able to send messages in the endgame chat. (According to some of them, actual console players aren't capable of this, but I dunno.)

  • On the other hand, though, games were a hell of a lot easier that time that they did remove the DC ban. Sometimes I'd get 2 or 3 a game, and a DC is almost as good as a kill as far as pips are concerned.

    Sure. I'm all for it.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

A cheater just held a well known German streamer hostage for the last hour and a half. That was one of 4 cheaters on his stream so far....

They really need to disable the DC penalty as cheaters are holding games hostage and you get punished for leaving unless you want to be trapped in a match. Either way you cannot play the game

The disconnect ban is only five minutes unless you do it every single game. And cheaters don't appear every game, and they don't usually hold it hostage completely when they do - when I come across them, they usually just try to move at superspeed when they think nobody is looking.

I don't think they've ever screwed up a game so bad for me that I've had to disconnect. If they did, I'd just eat the five-minute ban.

  • I don't think I've played any RPD games since the update, honestly.

I've only across one survivor trying to abuse Boil Over at all, for that matter, but they screwed it up, and we got to have a staring contest or two while she was on the hook.

Well, I think it really depends on who you're playing, but I never seem to have a problem. I can't imagine Billy has an easy time of it, but Michael and Ghostface will stomp survivors every time.

Even when I'm playing other killers, I do find on RPD, and I don't get why so many killer mains complain about it. It's not actually a hard map. CoH and (apparently - I've seen videos here; haven't run across it myself in the wild) Boil Over maybe have some legitimate issues with it, but it's not anywhere near as bad as Gideon's or especially Coldwind.

I'd take a Coldwind rework over RPD any day. ######### that map.

He has the Stealth advantage, but that's literally all he has going for him. Otherwise, Unless you are actively marking and downing every survivor without being broken out of stealth, he's still a basic M1 killer, and susceptible to all of the problems they have regarding map pressure. He may be the Least hurt of those I listed, but compared to Huntress, Nurse, Oni, hell even Nemesis, he still has a much harder time dealing with CoH.

CoH can actually be beneficial for him if you're running Nurse's. If you know where it is, you can turn your terror radius off after hitting a couple of survivors and go camp the area.

I agree that he and the other stealth killers were hurt least, for this reason.

They are probs nerfing twins on purpose so they can delete them whenever all 4 twins mains stop playing them

Did BHVR think there were going to be any Twins mains when they designed that killer? Did anyone really think, "What great character design. Everybody's going to want to play as these guys!"

I mean, I don't outright hate them or anything. They're nowhere near as horrible as Trickster, who should never have been added to the game in the first place, but at least I understand Trickster's appeal. K-pop has a following. I just don't understand what kind of person would want to play Twins every game.

  • You have to remember to balance gen patrol with pallet smashing. It's a very easy map once half the pallets are gone, but if you don't remember to chase people off of gens in the meantime, they'll all be gone by that point, too.

Don't feel bad about tunneling and camping someone to death early in the game, especially if you're playing as a killer with no antiloop potential. Puts the entire game in you favor, plus other survivors will waste time trying to distract you and taking protection hits once they realize you're tunneling.

It's also a lot easier with slowdown perks. I had a game earlier today with Legion where I was running Ruin/Undying/Pentimento/Thana, and I got a 4K with like three gens left. They spent the whole game healing themselves and trying to do totems in between getting hooked. (People say not to heal against Legion, but if you're running Thana on a heavy slowdown build, they will.)

    stadia.png

I made sure to play a game as him earlier this month just to be sure (and I didn't get 40 chainsaw downs in that match, so clearly I've played as him a bit in the past - just never liked his playstyle much).

Because maybe you bought Bubba because you wanted one specific mask. Maybe you 99%ed every mask the day before the announcement that they were going to be removed. Maybe you might have wanted to earn all the masks one day.

As for when you'll get the 6000 shards, that's anyone's guess. One day.

  • If you see someone doing this, just slug the entire team.

Keep in mind that devs do keep track of slugging statistics, and survivors will start complaining on top of that. If they see that slugging has gone way up and survivors aren't having fun, they'll make short work of the perk.

Basically it’s a team survivor shooter that has you do various things to get some objective then, well, get the [BAD WORD] out.

"Elaborate" was my first reply to your "GTFO" comment, when I first thought you were mad about something, but a moderator had to approve it manually, so I made the quip about Trickster instead. Guess it just came through. The forum spam filters flag the weirdest #########.

It really wouldn't. It'd hard mandate everyone to run the busted stuff in order to have a chance and the entire game experience would just become a mess of escalating bullshit.

How did that make it past the profanity filter? Is "bullshit" allowed?

Anyways, if everything was ridiculously busted, then it wouldn't be a matter of whether something ridiculously busted was being played, but of which ridiculously busted things were being played at any given time. Hoping you guessed correctly and trying to outperform the other side if you didn't. If we went full Yu-Gi-Oh, there could also be a slew of antimeta perks and strategies to use against the meta stuff, and you'd just never know how a game was going to turn out because there'd be to much to play with for things to be consistent.

At least it would solve the balance issue.

Did you see the kill statistics DBD posted a few days ago on social media? Nurse had the lowest kill percentage by far (~40%).

When you say that "it doesn't matter" that Nurse has a high skill ceiling, the truth is that good Nurses are actually fairly uncommon, and Nurses who are so experienced that they can take full advantage of her powers to dominate every game are extremely rare. The high skill ceiling does matter, because almost nobody can play her well enough to be the unstoppable superkiller she's become in the DBD player mass psyche.

When I play survivor, I'm never really unhappy to come across a Nurse. The ones who are good only manage to impress me.

Because people fall into a comfortable routine running a Myers around the same loop for half an hour or stealthing it out and slamming gens, and really don't like having to do something different.

If you play any of the less conventional killers a lot (Hag, Demo, Pinhead, Artist, Doctor) - you'll see what I mean. So. Many. DCs.

Does Demo belong on that list? I could go against a Demo drunk, stoned, and blindfolded. I always breathe a sigh of relief if I come up against one. (Never play him, though.)

    1. Nurse chases are actually fun and the thrill of dodging blinks and mindgaming a nurse actually makes it fun.
    2. Twins are annoying to play against because everyone has this mentality that you have to slug and that makes the chases boring and drags the game out.
    3. Pinhead chases, especially with that engineer fang? or whatever it's called that damages you instead of chaining you are boring.
    4. Nemesis chases are BS because he just has this stupid whip that has a range that's way too long, can hit over pallets, windows, and any low obstacle, and then you'll randomly have zombies block entire loops on indoor maps. Once you're infected, his chase is too oppressive and boring
    5. Same applies to trickster. His knives build up laceration so damn quickly and his chases just suck because there's so little you can do.
    6. Doc, I don't care. My only issue with him is how he ruins any stealth play (which there's already not enough of in the game)

Nemesis needs a hitbox buff so badly. His tentacle range is actually terrible unless you've made it to at least T2, and even then, good luck hitting anything, especially if you're playing on Stadia with a controller. Maybe once DBD gets EAC Linux support and I take the time to learn how to use mouse and keyboard, I'll change my mind, but.

  • Can the devs please just give killers some ridiculously overpowered stuff like this, too? Then everyone could be happy.

Honestly, a Dragon Ball Z-style power creep on both sides might be kind of fun.

I understand you like Myers, but he honestly does not have much going for him.

While being able to instant down survivors is strong, he does not have mobility to help him control the map nor does he really have much else to help him end chases faster. The larger lunge and faster vault simply force survivors to drop pallets earlier rather than end chases at that moment.

Vanity Mirror is a fun addon, but I wouldn't say it makes Myers better.

    @SuzuKR said:

Vanity Mirror does not change the fact he has zero mobility, an awful basekit, and zero actual good anti loop basekit. Even with Vanity Mirror, it is literally useless if people realize you have it and just outpace you with distance.

People can't outpace you with distance if you smack them before they even know you're there. M&A + Dead Rabbit means he has no terror radius. That's one free hit (a grab off a gen, if you're lucky), and they better hope there's a pallet extremely nearby.

His antiloop capabilities are actually decent with Vanity Mirror. Remember, you can see survivors through walls, and you have no terror radius, so that opens up all kinds of mindgames you can play, especially on certain godloops (assumingthe survivor doesn't have Spine Chill).

    @FFirebrandd said:

So... here's the deal. Myers actually does have a lot going for him. The issue is that most of it is his stealth or stealth -> insta down. Stealth isn't going to help you on maps like Ormond, Shelter Woods, all 5 Badhams, and Eyre of Crows. All of those maps are very open, with long sight lines and several are stupidly bright so Myers sticks out like a sore thumb.

To make things even worse... Hawkins was pretty good for him but it doesn't exist. The Game used to be good for him until its rework at which point he can't do anything on the 2nd floor. A few of the old Coldwind maps were good for him but the new ones all *suck*. Things like Midwich and RPD could be good for him, but if he has Boons that can ruin things. Honestly the Realm Beyond has overall been a massive nerf to Myers.

Overall, his power can be brutally effective, but most maps do him zero favors. But... he kinda needs them to.

I don't have problems with any of the first few maps you mentioned. There are usually obstacles that you can use to obscure the line of sight as you approach. The distance on some of them can be annoying since Mikey doesn't always have great mobility, but I'm used to winning most games of Eyre of Crows in particular. Michael seems to do really well on that map for some reason I can't put my finger on.

Agree with you on Hawkins and The Game. With the latter, your best bet is to hope Ruin spawns in a good location (there are one or two spawn locations that will have survivors who haven't memorized them all searching the entire game, and the rest are awful), and just let a survivor loop you around the map until the pallets are gone, while occasionally spooking survivors off gens.

Yeah, Coldwind sucks for every killer now. Main complaint (especially for Michael mirror builds) is scratch mark/aura visibility.

Michael absolutely dominates Midwich and RPD.

(Actually, every killer I play dominated Midwich. Otz more recently mocked the idea that killers think the map in survivor-sided, and I would like to know who in the real world was actually making that argument in the first place. And RPD isn't nearly as survivor-sided as some think it is.)

    @Elcopollo said:

His Iri addons are busted, but it's not fair to judge killer for his Iri addons solely - the idea that killers use Iri addons every single match is unrealistic at best. Tombstone is a tool, not a basekit, its existence doesn't make Myers strong by default - and even Tombstone can be played around thanks to using lockers and throwing all pallets instantly.

Michael has the worst early game to date and unlike Oni, despite having oneshot once powered up, he still lacks any mobility - outside of being much more of a menace in chase, he's still the same M1 killer with nothing to back him up. He's not bad in chase, but outside of that he has nothing going for him at all - no 4v1, no map pressure, no mobility, no nothing. M&A and DR combo doesn't make you "know where survivors are" and efficient survivors won't be healing against him unless in stage 2. There are also these things, called "holding W" and "short-wall loops", which counter any Vanity Mirrors extremely well, if survivor is not a total potato. Good survivors are able to give Myers almost zero value out of his power. As soon as you get to bully-squads or simply solos who know what they are doing - Michael will be the one on hook.

So while him being "the weakest one" is debatable, Otz is nowhere near wrong that he IS, in fact, a D-tier killer. Currently, at the very least.

One of his Iri addons are busted, and the other one is completely useless due to the speed nerf. Luckily, he has three purple (Tombstone Piece and both Mirrors) and one Yellow (Dead Rabbit) addons that are busted,. I very rarely run any Iri addons. Most of his other addons aren't useless, either.

I also don't understand how throwing all pallets is going to help against Tombstone, unless you're talking about countering Nemesis. Breaking one doesn't get rid of PWYF stacks. It adds extra time, but not all that much - and if you're running Piece, you're only going to get one hit before the timer runs out, anyway, so the time difference doesn't really matter, and if you're running Judith's, you're probably also running Fragrant, or it just isn't worth it (and probably not even then).

DR and M&A combo means that survivors don't know where you are. Vanity Mirror means that you know where they are (extra tracking perk optional, but Nurse's is a good idea when with VM).

    holding W

Right, and if they're doing that, you can either commit to the chase and down them (I'll never understand why some people say "holding W" like it makes a survivor invincible; you're faster than they are, just don't be ######### lazy), pretend to leave and mindgame them into walking where you can find them through a wall (no terror radius, remember), or be happy that they're distracted and go chase someone else off of a gen (important thing to do when playing Michael).

Now, if someone is trying to bait you into a chase with Michael, it's usually a good idea to ignore them.

    bully squads

If you see 3 or more (maybe 2 or more) in lobby with flashlights, run Lightborn. If they aren't stunning you every time you pick someone up, they're not so hard to deal with. Just tunnel one or two into the ground at the start of the game. Michael catches them off-guard, just because they think it's going to be an easy game.

    @DoritoHead said:

0%, because I don't want to admit that Legion is the worst killer

Trapper is still the worst killer.

Legion is really not bad at all if you're playing her correctly. I've been playing Legion even more than Michael for the past month or two for some reason. His basekit is weak, but it meshes well with certain perks, enough so that she can easily jump up to a C or B-tier killer.

My strategy is to run Ruin/Undying/Pentimento/Thanataphobia. Legion thrives on slowdown perks. The first three are self-explanatory, but the fourth is especially insidious since it stacks with Penti and synergizes with Ruin, and... well, you know how survivors supposedly never heal against Ruin? They do now.

Then I either run the Mangled/Broken addons (very annoying, especially with Thana) or the pallet-breaking Iri with the addon that gives him an extra 2.5 seconds of FF.

This poll. needs to have more than just 1 type of loaded answer. And it needs to have open discussion.

When it comes to this game. Patches break or make the game. It is a hit and miss. Because metas occur. So if Meyers was looked at. i would say that he could be perhaps the most POWERFUL killer in the game. if his add-ons allow for it. That also includes other killers with Pink and Purple add-ons.

Quite awhile ago. I made tons of BPs and saved them ALL. Put all of the points on meyers and picked up EVERY purple and pink add-on. Enough I could use tombstone meyers for a good portion of the day. Just Mori'ng survivors all day,. It became boring and from the right view point. Players just gave up and let me Tombstone them. I noticed that nobody was having fun, and even I was no longer having fun. People were just wanting the match to END, so they gave up on a Mori tombstone meyers. I can see this being a DISCUSSION on balance for the whole game. That maybe no Killer should have insta-one shots. But then again. I dont know... just thoughts I guess.

Oh, but it's not a question of whether Otz was wrong in his tier list. It's just not. It's a question of how wrong he was.

It is interesting how even Otz held Tombstone Piece up in a later video as the shining example of how the game was not survivor-sided when he Mori'd two people before two gens had been done. I'm not saying he's the absolute strongest, but with the right build and add-ons, he's at least A-tier.

    @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752030#Comment_2752030

Judith's Tombstone isn't really that strong. You have to remember the addon requires you to fully stalk 2 survivors to be able to kill as many survivors as you can catch within 60 seconds while also reducing your movement by 9% in T3. Practically requires you to run Play With Your Food and Tuft of Fur (add another fully stalked survivor) just to get value from the addon. In which case you'll likely lose the gens as Myers will struggle to build up Play WIth Your Food, stalk 3 survivors fully, and defend gens. Especially on bigger maps.

Tomestone Piece on the other hand only adds 75% stalk of another survivor, does not require you run other addons or perks to be most effective, and you can throw on faster stalk to T3 faster to build the stalk faster for the early kill. And the early kill can basically instant snowball to victory.

Yeah, I should clarify that I was talking in the OP about Tombstone Piece. Judith's is trash.

It stands for "Men's Rights Activist". Which doesn't sound bad on paper, except they spend no time focusing on issues that actually affect men more than women (like, say, the draft, or the trivialization of spousal abuse/sexual assault against men) and spend all of their time opposing feminism (meaning, the fairly reasonable "women should just have equal rights" kind every bit as much as the more insane variants). They have some pretty kooky ideas sometimes, which is why they made they made the list.

There's no doubt Joker is the more insidiously dangerous of the two, and the more evil! The main difficulty I have with Joker here though is his specialty is unpredictability in his plans, it's harder to picture him just chasing people around trying to hit them with an oversized hammer or shocking grasp or spear gun that says BANG on it, etc. On the flip side, though, if he had a bunch of fun voice lines I'd be all in. 😄

And yeah, I unfortunately didn't think of Batman Who Laughs until after I typed up the poll or I'd have probably included him. That guy I could definitely see as a contender for the Entity! An evil driven serial killer who has a compulsive need to win at all costs? Yeah, for sure!

I mean, there are plenty of mechanics that they could use to make Joker work, but The Batman Who Laughs would feel right at home in DBD. He looks and feels like a horror movie villain (even moreso than Scarecrow), and he's the only character in the series who can give Joker a run for his money in the terror department.

I'm actually playing through Arkham Asylum for the first time right now, and the Scarecrow nightmare levels are genuinely creepy at times (the scene in the morgue, for example), but Joker still manages to be scarier. Most of Joker's horror comes from his personality, though... That dialogue over the intercom after one of Joker's henchmen criticizes him was arguably bigger nightmare fuel than all of Scarecrow's scenes combined, but you probably wouldn't get a whole lot of dialogue like that into a DBD adaptation.

I guess a lot of people are arguing that Scarecrow would be more theatrical, but The Batman Who Laughs is at least his equal in that. And the visor and batarang chain thing could make for some interesting gameplay mechanics.

On the other hand, I'm still partial to Joker, because trying to pick out the most terrifying Batman character and not having your finger land squarely on the Clown Prince of Crime just feels wrong. And I can already hear Hamill's cackling laughter as he picks up a survivor across the map...

  • Joker would be the best. Even though Scarecrow is a more overtly horror-themed villain, Joker is easily the more terrifying of the two if you've read any of the comics. The Dark Knight is the only movie that's done the character justice in this regard (as much as I loved Joaquin Phoenix's movie, it was a very different take on the character). Graphic novels like The Man Who Laughs or The Killing Joke and animated films like Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker give a better overall feel for the darker aspects of the character than most of the adaptations more familiar to a mainstream audience.

Of course, Hamill would need to voice him.

I wouldn't say no to Scarecrow, either, but my second choice for a Batman killer (maybe even my first) is The Batman Who Laughs. I don't keep up with the comics these days, but I do know that he's one of the better characters to grace the franchise lately, and I can't wait to see him in a video game or a movie adaptation.

I think Batman as a survivor would be a little bit hokey since he wouldn't be able to do anything but run, but I could see Bruce Wayne, Lucius Fox, or Alfred.

    Bane would also be good.

99% of dc are against campers and tunnelers. Do you really think this kind of selfish people would let the last surv escape?

The two in the game I had in the game in question had nothing to do with that.

First disconnect, I was running at him after stabbing a couple of other survivors with Feral Frenzy. Ran out of steam just as I reached him, and he just stood there, staring at me, in front of a nearly full gen that was now regressing due to Ruin. Disappeared. Maybe he just hated the fact that I was running Ruin and that I ######### up his gen, maybe his game crashed (I didn't see him move).

Second one. One of the survivors I had initially hit with Frenzy hadn't bothered to heal and was opening a chest right next to a dull totem (I had Undying). Popped out from behind a corner and hit her. Instant disconnect.

I wasn't doing anything unsavory, even went out of my way alternating attacking/hooking the last two survivors to make it a little bit more chill. Caught a Dwight running to one of the exit gates after I finished off his teammate; he started pointing at the exit gates. Stabbed him. Kept pointing. Downed him. Carried him.

I love spending a couple hundred bucks on a game to be told how to play it, or face a timeout. How about we get to see the killer in the pre-game lobby, that way the survivor gets a say on who they want to be camped by? It's only fair huh?

Unless you do it every single game, you get five minutes.

I do agree that the DC penalty indirectly rewards campers, but that's only because survivors directly reward campers by DCing and/or throwing themselves at a camping killer instead of doing gens.

If a killer is camping, and both of the other survivors are taking turns getting themselves hooked to death trying to save each other, you can still win the game all on your own by running around the map and doing gens.
