I do have 1 question though, why doesnt DS disable after touching the exit gate? I mean, you lose it when unhooking another survivor, so it would create the opposite situation where a survivor is in a potentially abusable situation where the killer can not effectively do anything for 60 seconds.

Considering it disables on all other objectives, it's quite the odd one out.

Does it not disable on touching an exit gate? I don't use the perk. Kinda wack if not.

  • Oh, yeah. I noticed that but didn't really think much of it. I assumed its just from a sound library.

Do we know if it was actually recorded for DBD?

  • @Mandy said:

If a survivor couldn't open the exit gate when they were in T3 Madness that could be a potentially abusable situation - the Doc could effectively not do anything but shock the survivors and EGC wouldn't start so the match could be held hostage indefinitely.

True, but you can do that wiith a hooked survivor already. It feels inconsistent. I feel like situations like those hurt the players who don't go out of their way to take a game hostage.

Like, how many players actually blocked basement stairs for DCs? I saw it twice in the 4 years I've played. Meanwhile for other killers it could be a tactic to queue up hits on multiple players in the basement. Removing stuff like that from fringe cases ruins it for the people that try to be creative.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Yeah pressing a button a few times is a lot of "preparation."

I mean, this is DBD, not Street Fighter. Very few things in this game take much skill or forethought. Short of being a good Nurse.

Getting most survivors to madness two and getting the down without putting them in 3 and wasting it takes more thought than a good chunk of killers.

  • A storeable speed boost/hit absorption is just too good in most situations compared to a mediocre speed boost.

Sprint burst can make certain dead zones safe but has the downside of slowing you down outside of chases.

  • @MadLordJack said:

4.4 and 4.6 speed has nothing whatsoever to do with map mobility. It's pure placebo. It takes Huntress about 5 seconds longer than Trapper to get from one side of the map to the other.

Edit: Also, if you're getting screwed over by any single tile ever, you're not playing Trickter right. Don't mindgame. Don't be fancy. Hold W and learn the timings of when to ready his knives and every corner you turn will be another knife or two. The only time tiles really become problematic is when it's Suffocation Pit.

4.4 vs 4.6 has basically no difference running in a straight line. It's usually the slightly slower running animations that make it feel much slower.

4.4 vs 4.6 has a MASSIVE impact on looping thanks to larger killer hitboxes. There's a reason you can loop a Trickster around a rock on Azarovs and he can't do anything but cirlce it 6 times and M1 you. Try using Hope against a M1 killer at a loop and you'll see how signficant 4-7% extra speed can be.

People don't want 115% on Trickster for map mobility. It'll make no difference. They want 115% so he isn't completely powerless on high wall tiles (which make up most pallet tiles on pretty much any map).

  • @GreyBigfoot said:

Losing 30% of your perk's timer when healing really doesn't feel good. Bumping it up to 60 would probably be a good change imo.

What about pausing it in chases?

  • Eh, I don't tunnel even when the survivors make a mistake as I just find it really... not.. fun.

Chasing the same survivor 2-3 times in a row and hooking them and ignoring the rest of the match is boring. At most I'll slug them or smack them to trigger BT then chase the rescuer.

  • Playing more of him I'm seeing the complaints. From both sides.

As survivor, if you get a map with no or very few high walls there is NOTHING you can do to escape him or not get downed. He's like a weaker Deathslinger/moonwalk Legion. If you get a ton of high walls he may as well not exist and you won't see him all game as he tries to get just 1 hook. His "counterplay" is the same as Deathslinger pretty much. And I don't know anyone that really finds him fun to play against.

As killer his 110% with no mobility and a mediocre ranged attack means he's powerless at high walls and gets looped to death.

For the amount of grind there is in this game, we really aren't given much for finally achieving things. (For example) Like ok nice, I have killed 1000 survivors in my total time of playing this game , but I get nothing. Why are we not rewarded with a cool cosmetic that is exclusive to players who have played this game for an extended amount of time? There is no fancy cosmetic you get for doing something significant, and there is no reward for doing anything in this game.

I want cosmetics that I can show off to other people that shows my level of superiority. I want a baby dweet to look at me and think "Wow, this person is be a god must have no life!" or "Holy hell this killer must be good and means business" JUST by taking a look at my character.

The cosmetics we have now are pretty good, but you wanna know why I don't care for them? Because some are pretty pricey honestly, but mainly because anyone can get them.

Any person who plays this game and wants cosmetics can just go ahead and buy them. But that isn't very rewarding, it doesn't let you know who has put in the hours to "git gud", it just shows you who likes the game enough to spend extra money on it.

What if when you get 10 flashlight saves you get a new skin for flashlights that you can toggle on and off? What if you could get a cool skin that shows you love using medkits? Just little things like that including full on cosmetics for your characters would go a long way and make it feel more like everyone is grinding towards something.

Everyone with 1000's of hours on this game only have their playtime to show as their sort of glory I guess. We should at the least be rewarded with exclusive cosmetics that can be grinded for at any time. That would make people feel more inclined to play the game more as well.

Only if they were unlockable down the line for new players and weren't time gated.

It's even funnier when BOTH ruin and undying get cleansed and at the same time. Funny how they keep adding perks to help survivors find totems.

    • I-if you don't want 4 gens to pop at once when the game starts use perks to slow down the game!!!!!
    • Oh, oopsie didoopsie haha you picked ruin, you picked an RNG perk so enjoy playing with 3 perks now, not my problem!!

I just proceed to camp and tunnel when they break my hex, Haunted Grounds shouldn't even be a thing, every survivor who destroys an hex perk should become immediatly exposed for the next 60 seconds. Survivors get perks that stun the killer, ruin his plays and save them from mistakes but killers can't even have a match with 4 perks.

Oh yeah, that's a freddy main.

Jokes aside, thats the risk of the perks. Some maps have incredibly good spawns (mainly badham and the indoors ones) that you striaght up aren't finding without perks or a map. However some, like Mcmillan and Crotus have really bad ones.

Btw if 4 gens are popping you literally aren't chasing anyone.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

Honestly since less people are running DS an obsession base can be an advantage for the killer. I had survivors not realise I was running STBFL until I got a decent amount of stacks cause of base obsession.

This. It works both ways. I've wanted this change for years.

  • Gens completed when a bear trap is already active reduce its timer by 20 seconds.

Ambush attack now plays the ambush sound during the ambush and not the charge. (no ones goes for ambushes out of stealth, its kinda dumb).

Not big changes but I honestly think she's decent and people have no idea how to use her ambush at loops.

  • @NomiNomad said:

I'd save Bill. Dude's been through some #########, he deserves some rest.

I'd probably agree with you and say Wraith. Wraith got ######### over. I'd also halfway say Spirit, but she's there because of her rage. One way or another, she wants to be there.

On the flip side... I wouldn't save Yun-Jin. I 100% she is responsible for a lot of the Trickster's murders. Her lore straight up says she knew, she just didn't care. Anything to further her career.

I also wouldn't save Trickster (or Ghostface, they are essentially the same character) since they probably enjoy being there.

Bill wouldn't want to be saved. He'd sacrifice himself for one of the younger survivors.

  • Trap loops, but don't be obvious. Pay attention to how survivors loop main buildings/tiles and try to trap where they'd least expect it or lose more ground by avoiding it.

Pray to god you get a map that actually has grass.

  • It was a bad perk design to begin with as its impossible to balance.

Too long and it becomes absolutely broken with Iron Will.

Too short and its not even remotely worth a perk slot as 30 seconds will be gone by the time you either are far enough away to lose the killer or get downed.

  • Let me use my best perks to win but you can't use your best perks or I'll cry.

  • I actually got scared by a grab while palying earlier. Went to hit around a corner window and it started the hit/snapped to a grab and then left me standing there with nothing.

The snap to the grab and then cancel actually made me jump lol.

  • DBD hit its absolute peak in 2019, most balanced/fun time in its history imo. All downhill since then. I'd return to that version if I could.

  • The game is still scary to new players. It isn't scary to you because no game is after enough time.

Also multiplayer vs games cannot be scary past the first few hours anyway.

  • Remove EW1. It serves no purpose since the Spine Chill buff. There's no excuse for him having such a weak early game when killers like Ghostface and Oni exist.

  • It's a cool idea, the problem is it wouldn't make Legion any better.

Anyone with a brain knows you defeat LEgion by splitting up and holding Shift W the second you hear/see them Frenzying towards you. It's incredibly easy to waste a Feral Frenzy by looping around an object when they've already used close to 50% just reaching you.

  • Have a burst of colour or something as it hits to show that its activated.

  • Would have if I was on PC at the time. Had to wait for the console release Sadge no legacy for me.

  • @NightmareKiller said:

I know millions of survivors are sore losers and stuff, but do they really?

Had a lot of matches in which I kill a survivor and at the end of the game they cope with "S-so what if I died? I stunned you 4 times! HA!".

Is that seriously a victory for survivors? Running from a killer for a few seconds, getting a few pallet stuns, etc is that enough to make survivors pretend they didn't just lose the whole match and got humilliated?

Because I never seen a single killer who had all 4 survivors escape and he coped with "Oh w-well but at least everyone was on death hook!" or "A-at least I kicked 3 gens!".

Not everyone is playing to win. Honestly this thread makes you look kinda whiny just from that first sentence.

There is no set "win" in dbd. You can get 10 hooks and barely safety pip or 4 kills and safety pip. You can escape and safety pip or farm your teammates, do no gens and die and pip.

I missed it during its initial run (don't know how, I'm a total paranormal / crypto type of guy) but then started going through them from episode 1 back in about 2008 or so. I liked it when it was "monster of the week" but then started getting bored with the alien conspiracy stuff. I need to give it another chance I think.

Yeah, as the series goes on the main plot becomes more and more muddled and less interesting. The show was always best with the one off episodes. I haven't watched the reboot seasons but I heard they made major retcons that massively pissed off fans so I'm holding off.

  • @Nathan13 said:

I switch it out sometimes but here's what I run mostly.

    BBQ,discordance,ruin,NOED

And I know a lot of y'all hate noed so please don't make fun of me for running it lol I just want some ideas. thanks!!

    I use a pretty basic Pop/Corrupt/BBQ with M&A.

Monitor allows you to get a bit closer to survivors before they run and allows you to have a 40m (larger with calm add ons) static blast in chases.

  • There's really only 2 killers I'd consider basically "auto win". The rest are pretty fair and then theres a few that are "auto lose".

Are the Twins really just like a character from X Files? I always just assumed Basket Case.

There's a character in the episode "humbug" that has a little brother that looks like a small child stuck in his chest. It can detach himself and goes on killing rampages and makes weird noises. It's closer to the Twin than Basket Case is.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

More so then old freddy IMO. Everything he does now..He did/could of done in his movies (hitting people asleep being the exception). Pulling people in to dreams ? Nope never happened. Was never something freddy did

Good thing its based off the reboot and the dream power was directly based off of the (very cool) micro nap/nightmare sequences.

  • Not fun? Twin and Slinger. Slinger especially. I saw the design and heard the name and thought "oh my god thats so dumb I can't wait". Then I played him and he's very simple and shallow. ALso Pyramid for similar reasons to Slinger. Very unimaginitive power.

Twins have a hilarious concept (thats literally ripped 1 to 1 from an episode of X files) but my god, what an awful power design.

Killers I didn't expect to enjoy.. probably Doctor. I used to think he was really clunky but his rework streamlined his modes and now he's one of my favorite. Plague too. I don't play her often but enjoy her.

  • 2 reasons.

Either entitlement. Or they just aren't having fun and want to play something else. No amount of band aid fixes like removed suicide on hook can stop someone who doesn't want to play the match.

is anybody else having really bad lag spikes at inconvenient times like when a skill check pops up, when you’re about to vault a loop in a chase or when using exhaustion perks? I must get 5 lag spikes every game which sucks because my connection is good. It’s only for dead by daylight. When are the devs going to stop neglecting console players.

Same on PC. Ping is fine, connection is consistent everywhere else. Yet I'm getting actual teleporting levels of lag occasionally as killer.

Freddys powers make perfect sense NOW. Freddy pulling someone in to dreams as his main ability DID NOT. You can scream unique all you do want. His main ability made no sense and was an insult to freddy lore

Yeah... a basic M1 killer with lazily ported over aspects of other killers powers. Really makes me think of a dream demon.

You certainly weren't around for old Freddy AKA previously the worst Killer in the game then, same as the others who want old Freddy back.

Move on from the past, Freddy is infinitely more better this way.

Stronger? Yes. Unique? Hell no. They just took two or three killers and smashed it into one with no real theme. The dream realm may as well not exist.

  • I'd prefer her to stay strong and oppressive but be made more enjoyable to play against. Right now there is almost no interaction in a chase.

  • Not a problem unless... [names all the problems in first sentence].

As someone who has very limited knowledge of Resi Evil, say they do what they did for Silent Hill? A map, a Killer, and a Survivor from three different games. What games would you like them to be from, and who from those games? As far as I understand, the first four games are liked, and 5 and 6 are the black sheep of the family, so I don't think we're too likely to get anything from those ones. Or do you think either Resi 7 or Resi 8 will be chosen?

Does MCote's STARS tweet way back make you theorize? I know Nemesis says "STARS" a lot, so does that make him more likely in your opinion? Does Felix being the chosen survivor to scream in the teaser make you think it will be a male survivor?

RE1 Tyrant, RE2/3 RPD/Streets of Racoon City ( a half indoors half outdoors map would be cool, I detest the indoors maps) and either Jill/Claire or Leon.

  • @SunderMun said:

No. Only way to overtake Spirit and Nurse is to remove counterplay and interactivity entirely. No such move was made. In fact, in one such case, a bug has been removed as it actually did factor into such an issue.

This, Blight is very strong but he is still limited to existing mechanics and counterplay.

Spirit and Nurse are strong because they outright ignore the survivors defense mechanics.

  • The rng can both work insanely well for her or be astoundingly weak. Scorpionz is proof that she's decently strong in good hands, then again he plays the game for a living so the average player won't have anywhere near as deep an understanding of her as a killer.

I think she's meh. A lot of hate the killer gets is from players who cheese the beartraps by chasing while in crouch and not stopping the timer.

  • Try to have a friendly conversation post game and it all gets censored despite no swears. Call someone a ######### and it doesn't. Awesome system.

  • Because if you have 4 rank 20 survivors and 1 rank 20 killer 90% of those matches will be a 4K. Swf players will get used to 3-4 man escapes and killers will get used to 3-4 kills per game. Then they start playing against good survs/killers and get upset about it.

Even though the game is balanced for 2-3 kills a game if the skill level is closely matched.

  • They have one specific, very boring playstyle that doesn't take much knowledge or mechanical skill past "get hook, leave victor near hook, move back and slug if unhooked then snowball". That said the BT change has made this a bit less viable.

Fair enough, I think I said earlier that I tend to get more annoyed then I should while playing, and I think that goes for a lot of people who play the game. Nothing really wrong with it, it can just muddle discussion sometimes. I feel steering DBD in a less competitive direction would generally improve the game, but that's just me.

I started enjoying the game a lot more when I stopped caring about kills/escapes and went back to going for BP. That said, I will still get a little heated if I'm being embarressed by a god swf or something.

Just realised I actually posted the wrong video lol, fixed it. It was the taunting one not the salt one.

I hope a distraction mechanic is legit added not t bagging

We kind of already have that with missed action notifications. It could be expanded on though. Like giving failed heals a different sound/icon, then letting perks like Pebble make a fake failed heal check or something.

Well that's.. #########. Idk if I'm just falling for something but if trying to ######### with someone in a game like that is the lengths that people go to to win, that kinda ######### sucks. Games are meant to be fun, aren't they?

ah christ i hate these censors lol

I mainly play DBD for fun nowadays but its a competitive game (no this doesn't mean esports before people get into it), you can win or lose, you compete to win, etc. So obviously most players WILL.

If the survivor knows from experience that teabagging could tilt a killer into making bad plays, why wouldn't they? I'm sure there's some players who are malicious and just want to be a dick to the killer. But I think getting mad about something like teabagging or survivors playing to win when the killer is themself playing to win is just silly.

Interesting there should probably be something to confirm that. that is an intended mechanic

Meant to clarify it was the old webpage that described survivor gameplay actions, fixed it in edit.

  • Crazy that people still get salty over teabagging. It can be an actual legit mechanic to stress out a killer and bait bad plays. It's been used by Fighting Game players to bait out desperate plays and mindfuck their opponent. There's a good explanation in this video, basically the angrier/more tense you get, it activates the part of your mind that makes you make risker and more reckless decisions.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PElmAFZFoqQ&ab_channel=Core-AGaming

Also, fun fact. The old survivor tutorial on the dbd webpage that explained objectives (survival, boldness, etc) used to encourage "baiting and taunting" the killer. I.E teabagging.
