Mostly. But I do SWF on the weekends.
So you haven't gotten a chance to play optimally against Thana. I'd be interested to know if it's considerably more manageable for you over the weekend.
I do think that there are many perks/game elements that have unintended power spikes because they bring out the shittiness in some players. I really don't feel that Thana should be causing as many solo breakdowns as it is. If it wasn't for those bad faith actors, it probably wouldn't. The increased gen time for this patch would be 50 seconds/repairing survivors modified by Thana when it is present and for how many survivors are wounded, then compounded by other gen regression? There's really not a lot there unless someone is belly-flopping onto the hook or otherwise playing poorly.

Try playing survivor against Thana+Pain Res+Sloppy with 90 second gens multiple games in a row and then report back about how much fun you're having.
Are you playing solo?

I'm a pretty good killer but sorry all these survivors crying must be in different game from me because gens are FLYING and swfs destroying as usual.
I can imagine solo queue may be worse but I don't seem to ever be getting solo q... It's TTV gank squads, all prestige 10, 2-3 prove thyselfs etc.
Are we playing a different game or is this showing the true survivors MMR? I am laughing at the feedback because there is NO way killers are destroying the way this forum is making it out and the Devs will have the actual data showing results of solos and swfs.
I've won 1/7 with 3-4ks. Rest were 1k or less. I'm a 3k+ hour killer with every meta perk on all killers.
Give me some of those solo queue games because this is honestly not fun playing nonstop super gen rushers, worse than before as they now all use gen speed perks etc.
Sigh
Where are the survivors saying lol business as usual who keep trouncing me? Seems their a bit quiet on the forums?
Some killers are indeed destroying this way, and yes, most SWFs are generally operating business as usual.
These are not mutually exclusive ideas, and they can be pretty easily traced to how the patch did not target all populations in this game. That was it's intent, for better or worse.

Yeah, the survivors that proudly announce that they disconnect willingly, we don't claim them, the only time I've been given a disconnect penalty is when the game does that weird bug where it disconnects me and says I have a bad network connection even though everything else is running completely fine.
Luckily, it's only happened twice in the past week so hopefully that does not continue. I wish you a lovely day/night, and thank you for having a reasonable conversation with me, I do appreciate it!
My mentality is, I'm absolutely not quitting because a meteor could always strike the ISP of my opponents at the last second. And thankfully, I've clawed back a lot of losses and turned them into draws or wins because an opportunity presented itself that I wouldn't have found if I folded over like a wet napkin.
All I could add, is when you see OP with a genuine bone to grind but is doing too much lumping, remind them. Instead of what-abouts, say, "As a survivor main, I don't condone the players that do X, we're not a monolith."
Acknowledges they exists and disown them in one go. And then rub the what-aboutism stuff in the OP's face :P

Yes, but this is also an open discussion for people to make their defense, or counter to the argument.
If you're referring to my previous comment on this thread, I already talked to another person how I know that the reason why those perks were used by Killers was because that was the only way to counter gen rushing.
I have no malice towards killer mains cuz without killers there would be no game in the first place, just the OP decided to group all survivors together as a group of sheep for running the most optimal perks on their side, even though Killers do the same thing.
If you're not referring to that, then my apologies.
Nah, I get it - but when I see a thread that lumps everyone together, I tend to remind myself, "It's not about me." If it's genuinely not.
There is A LOT of survivors proudly admitting to DC'ing the moment they're inconvenienced. Things like:
- I see X Killer
- I see Y Perks
- I get taken to Z Map
- My teammate does V instead of B
Like, a medically inadvisable amount of threads with this mentality. It's worth calling out at this point.

Don't some (not all obviously) of those same killers do the same thing? Some killer mains don't try putting themselves in the survivor's shoes on how it feels to face off against some of those killers with the add-ons the survivor is complaining about.
Also the main complaint people had about nurse was her range add-ons, people can care less that she can teleport it's just her range add-ons people had an issue with. But this isn't a nurse discussion thread, so I'll save that for another time.
That's not true. There's a litany of "Delete her", gut all her addons, remove 3 blink (Which I've never seen anyone use beyond for the achievement), the list goes on.
The point was, if people don't want to genuinely improve, they're not even going to consider trying the other role for perspective. If you can communicate that using killers as your pivot, feel free to. The thread was about survivors giving up.

Instead of quitting because iron will is no longer 100% silent or DH doesn’t give distance etc try swapping roles and observe from the killer’s perspective.
we all knew these changes were coming and had ample time to adjust game play and experiment with different perks.
Killer perks are changed way more often, everyone loves stomping on killers as it’s a 4v1 game with survivors having sheep mentality.
how about actually play the game rediscover how to not rely on only 4 perks jeez
Lol. Have you visited the Nurse threads? Survivors are completely allergic to the idea of putting themselves in the killer role for the purpose of ironing out that bias.

i'm in solo q and I dont consider myself a potato, some people just dont have the opportunity to swf.
Dude. I try to be nice to you but I've seen enough of your comments to know that yes, this game considers you a potato. If you DC, your MMR is dropping. If you're not trying to win every game, you're not proving to the system you deserve to be placed higher. Every single ladder based system works like this. If you want to get more competitive teammates you have to be willing to play more competitively, before those teammates ever appear in your lobby. MMR means the game is trying to get you to whatever target winrate is set, whether it be 50/50, 60/40, 70/30. You have to win DESPITE MMR, not because of it.
I'm pretty sure I've already told you something similar recently. There are definitely SoloQ'ers running around at or near SWF level, but they ain't suiciding or giving up.
Feel free to disprove me with some of your gameplay. I'd be fine with being wrong in the face of actual evidence as opposed to, "I feel this way, and I have a lot of hours so I know I'm right". I get plenty of potatoes with a lot of hours.
I don't really have sympathy for people who are unable to SWF. Either you want to win, and you're willing to make that effort and accommodate the game at the expense of whatever it is that prevents you from SWFing, or you don't.

So i am a killer main and POP was pretty much all in my builds. It was one of my favourite if not my favourite killer perk. It removed good progress instantly and showed regression. Pretty effective perk. Now it's absolute garbage. It's only good if you have a generator in like 90+%. Sure i can try some Overcharge+Call Of Brine combo but it will never be the same. This one will be i will feel for quite alot of time while i still play DBD. If i don't quit before. Pain Res is also nerfed pretty badly. I really liked it for the information and now it gives no info anymore. So resuming. Solo queue is terrible. Killer has been buffed in general but i completely have to change my build and my 2 favourite perks got nerfed. Really demotivates me to even continue playing.
My man.
Try Jolt.
I have solved your problems. I promise.
Edit: Combo it with Scourge Hook: PR if that's the one for maximum gen ball kicking. Just your very existence deletes gen progress.

Bold of you to assume bhvr care about solo q issues
I believe, because of how many platforms BHVR maintains, they keep -very- accurate netplay statistics. They say they don't track DCs, but if enough Pinheads start absolutely pounding them, BHVR will have to care, because of the numbers. Make them care.

It’s crazy because I’m nowhere near a good pinhead yet I’ve still won all 10 matches I’ve played since the update hit. Combining his base kit delay with perks like call of brine and eruption just feels cruel tbh
Keep going until you find a doom squad.
Not so that I can say it's always fair and balanced, but so you can take the lessons they teach you, spank soloQ behind even harder like you're their sempai, so BHVR will have to address SoloQ issues.
-
I'm a turd who didn't share:
Played a few Nurse games. Decisive came into play once and I really felt the difference but I think it's because she refused to abandon the loop.
I didn't feel like I played any better, but I definitely noticed some defeatist. Games where I had a bad start they had DCs and survivors were doing 'for the lulls' kind of stuff like flashlight bombing.
I did try out Jolt though and I hate it. It reinforces this throw the game mind set. One survivor starts farting around and he sets off a chain of irrecoverable setbacks.
I think survivors need to actually get value if they pick DS and the killer tunnels and I think Jolt needs a tunin'.

Your point? What do you want me to do? Do 5 gens against 4 slowdowns when everyone already dced/suicided?
MMR has always been a numbers game, you have to focus only on what you can do no matter how your team performs. The people that understand this become better players and grow. If you use anything as an excuse for your self sabotage then it makes sense that you're getting that 'Meg' player.
So my point, I guess, is that there are SoloQ survivors that are running around with some of the SWFs, probably a small pool and that makes sense.
They earned it through brute force, just like you would any other ranked game that has similar mmr constraints.
You know, when and if MMR is actually working. I'm making the assumption it's accurate to a degree, albeit a suspiciously sharp one.

No. Killers got what they wanted. An easy, single player game. No more complaining about SWF.
If you want to put it to the test, BHVR can run a solo survivor escape streak versus a killer 4k streak. Take the best survivors, playing solo, and the best killers. See what their streaks amount to. Both you and I know that the results would be comical.
Again, I don't care that you have an opinion. That's great and all. It's not supported by any real, measurable numbers.
You attached an imaginary argument to my name and latched onto it, I'm not participating beyond that.

You don't know what you have until it's gone. This game is not fair anymore for solo survivors and you were saying it's a skill issue as to why they're not going to be surviving. Solo survivor is the pure role in this game. Top SWFs are broken but rare and it's too easy to 4k as killer at this point.
Every single thing you wrote is subjective, and you still didn't answer my question.
The answer I was looking for is, "You didn't say those words, I put them in your mouth."

There's no "arms race" between longer gen times and longer hook times. With longer gen times survivors still need more time to do gens, it doesn't matter if some survivor is hanging on a hook or not.
In fact if someone is hooked and doesn't get saved for longer it actually makes it harder for survivors to finish gens. As a survivor you still spend the same amount of time for unhooking and healing someone, it doesn't matter if you do it immediately or near the end of the current hook stage. But if you unhook as soon as possible, that unhooked survivor can start doing gens sooner than if he was still hanging on the hook.
Huh? It's about making killers feel they can't, or shouldn't, camp. They raised gen times because survivors were doing too well, they admitted this much. If survivors start doing too poorly and/or they deem camping is getting too crazy, they're NOT going to make people wait on hooks longer. It doesn't make sense.
-
@skylerbound said:
Holy soloq hell…. The amount of comp teching, face camping today…. Wow. I knew with all the improvements certain Players would not change how they play but boy do they benefit significantly from longer gen times plus 4 slowdowns.
it may not help much but can we get the hook timer to significantly increase?
Creating an arms race between gen times and hook times isn't the solution. If they make any change, it will be reducing gen times, most likely.

BHVR doesn't agree with you, they only say that you can face-camp. They didn't make any morality judgements on face-camping.
I'm going to discuss this philosophically with you because I think it's an interesting topic.
Most people know that face-camping at gen 5 is intentionally making another human being's experience miserable because they have empathy. If a person doesn't realize that face-camping at gen 5 makes another human beings experience miserable, then that would mean that person either hasn't developed empathy yet or is lacking at least some aspect of empathy. I think most people finish developing empathy somewhere in the mid twenties. So if you are young, you may not have even fully developed empathy yet.
Now having a lack of empathy can actually be a good thing, because it can allow people to make judgements that that are horrifying for other people. Like deciding who gets a heart transplant. Also, a large number of CEOs tend to score really low on empathy.
And of course there are serial killers and people who play killer on DBD. (Just kidding).
- BHVR does agree, I was not making any moral judgements on facecamping and neither have they. It's not necessary when it's not against the TOS. That's how this works, it's not about the survivor. The killer is allowed to do said tactic, and they do not have to justify it for anyone. Me giving you that example was for your benefit
- 'Most people' is subjective. We all know that this is subjective - is objective, because we can just dip into the forums and see both sides of the matter being presented with frequency
It has nothing to do with Empathy, I don't have such a high sense of self that I immediately think survivors are trying to get a rise out of me just because of the tactics they adopt.

This cyclical dance involving doom saying and skyfalling predictions has been going on since the dawn of time. The people who do get to say, "I told you so." Either get there because they call every event a skyfalling event, or they get very lucky the one time they do call it out.

If the people I'm playing are absolutely miserable because I picked a somewhat-okay killer and chose to focus on my Dev-given archive, that sounds like a personal problem. Your definition of toxic is wrong.

Facecamping Bubba is the most toxic thing you can do in the game. You go into it knowing this, which speaks volumes about your character.
It's almost jarring, what lengths a perspective can go to in order to create negativity. Try:
- I just want to get this Bubba archive done and I hate chasing survivors through several windows and I don't have bamboozle on him yet so I know my best show to get this done in one is a hook trade chainsaw down or two.
Edit: If the message wasn't received, it speaks volumes about your character, the way you assume the worst of a player based on their strategy alone.

both sides just like to find something to grieve over, when in reality, 90% of the time they just got outplayed. I saw this today, a killer said in the chat “meta perks carried you”; my build was - Lithe, DS, We’ll Make It, and Inner Healing, not exactly “meta”, and DS only triggered because he camped hook and downed me straight off being unhooked.
Your personal experience aside, DH was absolutely a problem and any survivor who wants to pair up another exhaust with vigil? - We welcome it, one less perk slot to try and play around, one less exhaust mid-chase to try and play around.
-
I rarely complained about it, but I spent so many games as killer going:
- Alright, wait out the DH you know he has
- Alright, obligatory DH time
- Alright, Unsafe unhook into BT + DH through the unhooked
- Don't forget he has DH
- No prestige Claudette without any items? Probably still has DH
- Bait the DH don't waste your power on it
- Fake the melee for that bodyblock, obvious DH, you don't got mad grit to be wasting M1s!
So much of my games micro was dedicated to this perk. On every killer I played.

The perk itself isn’t really an issue it’s just that the perk is made much stronger by nurse herself due to her design (Same applies to perks like starstruck, Devour hope, Sloppy butcher and knockout). This doesn’t apply to third seal as much though since it’s effects are mostly negated VS SWF teams
There are so many killers who use those perks well. Knockout isn't a Nurse exclusive thing - the best use of it I had ever experienced was against a cracked Huntress who was getting really quick downs.
Knockout, Third seal, Starstruck, Agi. Let's say you do somehow get them taken off Nurse, now what?
Enjoy 4 gen slowdown builds because there's literally nothing left for her to run. The reality is, most of the time people say 'Her chase power is absurd, which makes certain perks too good on her' is because they started the chase at 10 meters because they refused to respect the TR and get off the gen, instead of booking it when they're supposed to and making the Nurses life a living hell.
Any value gotten out of Knock Out is generally attributable to survivors going down to quickly. That's why slugging works. Spread out, coordinate the pick up, keep people on gens. I get that SoloQ can't do that, but that would be a SoloQ problem, not a Nurse problem.

Absolutely. Voice-integration, no matter how awful it would be, needs to be integrated so solo players realize that comms isn't the only reason SWF's outperform y'all. Also means we could balance around SWF and have a whole lot more fun.

Nurse I like her but facing her NO MATTER WHAT I hate facing her and playing as her overall the only reason why I like her is because she shows signs she regrets what she did she killed a bunch of people and regret it she shows signs of sympathy because you know luck just never gave her a chance from the start. But facing her I hate she hits me out of no where even though she never came put of her blink you need an item to stop her from using her ability which barely works on Hag it works because your not dealing with a moving object.
In the end Nurse I just don't like for how her ability works and Trapper is just super boring to face now I have more fun dealing with the Twin's then I do with Trapper.
How in who's land of why we will what?!

It would certainly make the outcome more binary.
