  • No one else has this problem. There definitely is not a couple hundred threads dedicated to exactly this.

No. It was a bug in 2016, but now it's impossible to do, unless you are using hacks.

I hesitated to call it a hack vs a cheat, because let's face it: just because a bug was defeated years ago doesn't mean BHVR won't bring it back while say, updating the idle animations or something.

  • Sure, if you don't mind going through all the hoops required to cheat and the risk of getting banned.

the only type of camping that should be adressed is chainsaw face camping because there is literally 0 chance of doing something against it. and buba face camp should get adressed because billy can get just one person at time, leatherface can kill multiple people and also can gen an extra tantrum by hitting the hooked survivor.

Yet, he can't kill 3 people if they're not at the hook and doing gens like they should be. Bubba still loses when he camps.

While every survivor is an individual, the Survivors as a whole fight the killer. Losing one is like having one arm wounded in a game. Just continue on without it.

There's a portion of Campers who will never stop camping. There's even more who really try not to camp, but occasionally just get stuck with it because Survivors can't keep it in their pants for 10 seconds while they leave. There's even yet more who camp a lot because, for some reason, Survivors can't help but feed them endless points and kills for next to no reason.

For as much as Survivors claim killers just want a 4k every game, it sure seems like they're the ones that can't bear to walk out the door minus one member.

  • @ZFennecFox said:

How about a boost to luck for the Kobe. Increase the luck from 3% up 2% for each second the Killer is within a couple of meters for the hook.

If the killer is hard camping, what is a kobe supposed to do for you?

    @SaltyLanguage said:

What if when the killer is close to a hooked survivor for to long, he starts to get auto blind. That will probably avoid camping and the killer would have to leave the area, or even if he stays, survivors have a better chance to get the team mate out of the hook.

Well if it is a letherface, good luck with that lmao

As with just about 99% of suggestions that involve some effect on the killer, it's easily abused by the remaining Survivors, constantly running the killer back to the hook and looping the area to cause the effect on a killer that's not actually camping. Same thing that happened with the pausing hook time.

There is no solution to camping that isn't either a) unfairly punishing to a killer who isn't "camping for effect" but being forced or encouraged to be at the hook by Survivors, b) easily avoidable due to some mitigating mechanic designed to make it not punish "a", or c) will be completely ignored by the hard Campers because they don't care about indirect punishments like losing bps.

The only way to STOP hook camping is making Survivors die on the first hook. And then you'll need to spend another several months trying to find a solution for "slug camping"

So what is wrong with saying i'm a rank 1 survivor. Just saying I play good enough to be at Rank 1 solo majority of the time, I know how to loop etc..."Actual good players know where the power lies"...so how are Survivors the power role & you really can't say the perks...

Because being at rank 1 anymore is as meaningful as confetti.

Survivors control the single most important aspect of the killer's game... How much time he has. The killer can only ever be in one place at a time. Survivors don't even need perks to guarantee a 3 escape vs all but the upper end of killers if they understand the game. You get 4 guys who really know the game, put em in a squad with no perks and no comms, and they'll be able to dominate 90% of the killer's they encounter.

I'm sure you know how to run loops, but the liany of complaints in your original post makes me think you have a very shallow understanding of the game.

Sure, solo queue is rough. It's always going to be tougher than swf. Lots of them complain incessantly about bbq, thana, and noed. If they spent that time trying to really understand the game, everyone's solo life would be vastly improved.

  • "I'm a rank 1 survivor"

Yeah, these days, so is everyone else who can play a few days a week.

Actual good Survivors know exactly where most of the power lies, and it ain't with killers.

Who in their right mind would balance a pvp game for the bronze tier players rather than the upper echelons? A big reason human beings play game to begin with is to actually improve themselves at the skills the game uses.

Pvp games are for challenging yourself. Party games are for doing repetitive tasks over and over with friends.

  • Slinger is slow, his power can't down, it only affects 1 at a time, and takes forever to reload. All crappy for 3 gens.

Even doc, famous for it, isn't great at winning a 3 Gen. He's just really good at maintaining one.

Killers that have a way to very quickly end a chase and move rapidly between gens are when 3 gens get truly oppressive.

All us fans want the DEVs to do something about facecamping as it is unfair. But the DEVs dont listen because they are greedy, Money-grabbing people. Why can't they just balance the game instead of ruining survivors? Let's ask the DEVs and we will see because these people can't get away with this. They Lie! #Removefacecamping

Face camping WAS removed from the game already.

Survivors were given the ability to unhook from any angle to bypass it.

Yeah, I know... It really does feel like about 70% of survivors are just zero communication, leave right away. The rest of the time it seems like the other 30% are mostly monsters.

You really don't know that at all. That's 100% speculation. If Jason is going to be added to DBD, it means there's been an agreement between both parties opposing each other in the lawsuit, so if it's actually happening, anything is fair game.

It's not just speculation, it's an opinion based on available evidence (that being a board game that was just released), and the interpretation of what that means by folks that know how lawsuits work, and folks who have kept tabs on the specific opinions the judge has handed down during the course of this particular lawsuit.

Yeah and unfortunately you need video or they get off scott free. Feelsbadman.

Most of these guys have also edited their save files for bps and items, and when the human review checks their profile, most of them get popped right there. There'll be some that slip through from a period when they could fake time played and never touch their file again, but that loophole has been sewn up last I heard.

  • Chances are, since they're using a paid cheat or a homebrew, they've probably also modified their save file. It's very likely the review team will bust them on that alone.

So just like playing f13 the game, then?

(and any build of dbd, really)

Styptic only works once, and doesn't make you run at 500% speed.

The cheats ARE out there, though I'm pretty sure that's not one of the freebies.

You may be right, but I just can't see the emotional milestone being the license itself. There are any number of licenses that fit all the criteria given. I just wanted to put this out there to turn some heads and see if I end up actually being right.

The license or franchise is the most likely thing to have an "emotional" connection to the devs.

You say it could apply to any number of licenses... So it would be true if it was any of them. Why assume BHVR phrased it that way to somehow narrow down the possibilities?

  • @Clevite said:

Could also be an ego stroke, look at me, I allowed you to get away.

True empathy would be, just let the last person find the hatch, don't have to make sure the survivor knows you let them go.

You kinda do actually. If you don't, most of the time you'll get a ten page diatribe in post game about how you got owned, you were born without eyes, your cat should die in a fire, etc, etc.

If you make it a point of dropping them there, they don't have many options aside from a thanks or a quick leaving of chat.

  • As usual, no one wants to play against anything that shakes up their usual. It's perfectly fine for killers to need 12 bandaid perks to counter normal I'll-designed game mechanics and survivor perks, but Survivors should have a hard counter to any and every killer without having to give up anything for it. Same old, same old.

  • @Munqaxus said:

Honestly, what should happen is the Killer starts steadily losing BPs while they are in close proximity to a hook survivor for longer that XX seconds. It doesn't punish a killer that is stopping altruistic survivors because the killer is getting BP's for downing the altruistic survivors. However, if the killer is just sits in front of a survivor all match, then they don't get BP's because the BPs got drained away camping.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it... You can't punish the ones who camp just to ruin someone's day. They already don't care about bps, otherwise they wouldn't be hard camping right off the bat. They don't care about rank, they don't care about winning. Their reward is making someone miserable in a game. You could make it to where they lost ALL their BPs, even outside the match, AND dropped them to rank 20 in one go... And they STILL wouldn't care, nor stop.

  • @Chrisko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1270186#Comment_1270186

Why I believe the hatch currently favors the Killer:

    1. Killer has faster movement speed (sometimes a lot faster depending on killer).
    2. As the killer you get to move easily around the map with no worry and look for the hatch. Once the hatch spawns, there is a higher chance that the killer will run across it before the final survivor does.
    3. The survivor has to worry about the killer finding them so they can't move freely (especially when they are the last one).
    4. Killer gets FREE time (from the initial death hook) to look for the hatch or get to the hatch without it opening in order to close it.

What advantage does the survivor have?

The hatch mechanics SHOULD lean in favor of the killer, because the hatch itself is an entirely survivor sided benefit, period. The killer gets absolutely zero benefit from the hatch existing. If you and your squad play poorly and can't get the job done, the hatch spawns to STILL give you a way out, even though you've already failed. So yeah, the mechanics of dealing with the hatch should favor the killer.

You know what else would solve the whole issue? If the third Survivor's death just triggered the egc and the hatch followed its normal rules (as in, you only get it if your team played well enough to get at least 3 gens done). No possibility for holding the game up indefinitely, no unearned escape tunnel for the survivor, and no unfair "closed the hatch on me" complaints. Yet, you still get an automatic hatch spawn every single game. There's your advantage as a survivor.

Your right, but I think there are better options. I don’t think It is scary enough. See Freddy is frightening, because humans need to sleep, Leatherface is gonna eat you after he butchers you, The pig puts a trap on your head that will ya know, Pennywise is a clown that can only kill you in dairy Maine. And I know what you’ll say, he turns into your worst fear, but what if you just surround yourself with people all the time and not wander alone to places like everyone in the movie. I think pennywise will Hex:Ruin the game, he is somebody to laugh at, like he died by getting bullied by like 30yr olds.

Again, most of our slashers have been defeated by getting bullied by teenagers. While it may not be scary to some, it is absolutely terrifying to others. It only operates in derry, Maine, just like Freddy only operated in Springwood, and Jason only at camp Crystal lake (aside from a couple exclusions thanks to the sequel crunching machine). Really, Pinhead is the only major horror icon who was explicitly shown to appear anywhere.

There's not much profit in trying to argue the "physics" of horror movie franchises. Besides, the fog and entity were designed to specifically bypass all those worries. It can draw from any time and any place and stick them all in whatever arena it wants.

Our personal feelings have little to do with whether or not something is scary enough or a big enough icon. Hell, to me, Ghostface is a freaking clown on his own. A guy with a cell phone who trips over every piece of furniture in sight and gets knocked around by at least half his victims. Not exactly the pinnacle of fear, but good enough for dbd.

  • People in a pvp game are scared of challenging themselves. Good old dbd.

  • While it's not taking the game hostage, it absolutely is an exploit that circumvents normal game play, which is just as punishable (rules wise). Not that it will be, given which side it works for. No one will get punished for abusing this spot, however long it takes to fix it.

  • @Y_Darcy_Y said:

Honestly it’s probably not pennywise, because what they write about the new killer, said “marked the world of horror since it’s inception” and It didn’t when the original mini series came. It the mini series is a straight to TV release and didn’t even leave a bigger mark on the horror movie franchise like Jason or alien. Btw it’s good that nobody is saying predator, because his game just came out. I think it’s leprechaun.

I think you're selling it short. When the IT miniseries came out, it was on everyone's lips at the time, much like game of thrones more recently, or the walking dead before that. Hell, I had a coworker who walked to work some 15-20 years after that miniseries, and she would cross the street to avoid walking too close to a storm drain.

Good to hear you are actively banning cheaters. THere is ZERO point in playing a video game if someone has to cheat. Because then the game plays itself and a player only cheats themselves out of a video game title they paid for.

It used to be a lot worse. The devs buckled down and put together a crew that actually looks into reported players. Once upon a time, it was largely all autodetect. Then they started at the least, scraping anyone who was reported for cheating's save file, which usually very quickly turns them up as a cheater. There were a couple massive ban waves for that. They also closed down at least one loophole that was letting people essentially validate a cheated profile. A lot of the ones who use an in game chest will also have hacked their bps and items, and that's a lot harder to hide.

We had a nice, long, break for a while where eac managed to detect the bypass and ban anyone using it, which knocked out all the public cheats for quite a while, though not necessarily the more private ones.

It's not a bad idea to keep an eyeball on the cheat sites so you know what's floating around these days. The one with people teleporting around isn't even a true hack, as in, doesn't require injecting anything, which makes it a lot harder to nail down, I'm sure. But, if you ever have anyone disappear right in front of you, turn around and look back along the path the chase took, or head back to the last gen/locker you saw them touch.

While I agree that a Xenomorph on its own would be way to powerful this can be said about other killers as well, especially Demogorgon or Freddy.

This is still just a game where the game mechanics restrict things and even lore-wise you can argue that the Xenomorph would be controlled/restricted by the Entity. So the Devs can make it fit easily if they and the license holders want to.

I would be really happy to see the Xenomorph implemented.

To be fair, Freddy has a long history of getting his ass kicked by teenagers. Especially if they are in the dream world with him. In fact, that's why slasher characters DO work well in Dbd. They all have a history of being undone by flimsy regular old human beings in ridiculous ways. The xenomorph, however, generally requires either a heavily armed opponent or some serious industrial equipment to even slow them down.

  • Also consider that a lot of gaming monitors these days have built in crosshair overlay capability. Would be difficult to catch something hardware related. Or justify banning someone for using their monitor.

That's why the majority of the complaints against Freddy and Spirit exists tbh.

Because they both don't fit the playstyle of the majority of the playerbase, so rather than adapting it, they complain.

Never understood folks who play a pvp game for anything other than the extra challenge in facing living opponents. It's like the people who bought daoc or shadowbane and then complained that someone killed em and took their rune they'd spent 3 hours farming for and didn't go stick in the bank as soon as they got it. Or they built some little town out in the sticks and someone burned it down. It's a full time pvp game, 90% of the people playing are doing so to put themselves against other people instead of a computer. Finding ways to win when things aren't going your way or how to sneak your way around a greater force and take something under their nose is the main attraction.

One of the main reason I did not buy their predator game.

Screw them. They are the main reason why I have not backed another game on kick starter.

Well, Gun is the major bad actor in terms of f13 being a well played cash grab. Illfonic is just a crappy dev house that can't code its way out of a hello, world. The only thing they are good at is capturing the feel and sound of the 80s.

Go check out the history of Moving Hazard/ Dead Alliance, the Star Citizen Fps module, or the Revival Mmo some day. Last time I was around the Revival forums were still alive, but may not be any more. They sold player housing for a Lovecraftian mmo, with an AI director/dm that would organically cause monsters to form communities, etc... As well as a real time full climate/weather simulation system. Real pie in the sky stuff. They kept selling housing for months after the game had the plug pulled. They also made some terrible Sonic game, iirc.

Moving Hazard/Dead Alliance is the one that really shows off their skills as a dev, though. You can find some YouTube vids of reviews.

No. Read the lawsuit in full. If that was the case, then f13 could've put out the Jason x skin and spaceship level. And Jason's hockey mask IS specific, as it's modified with extra holes and a special look. Go to neccas( one of biggest horror model makers) and check about Jason. Research your info before blabbing on about something you clearly don't understand.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1285822#Comment_1285822

They didn't abandon it, they were stopped by court orders once everything was put into the so called "freeze". There not allowed to add ANYTHING to the game because of the lawsuit, so they SOLD it to another company that's huge fans of the franchise and have been making visual and bug improvements ever since. Once the lawsuit is over(time pending) they will release more content.

That's incorrect. Gun still owns the game. They simply took Illfonic off development and brought in a different dev to handle maintenance. Gun absolutely abandoned it... They were "forced" to stop adding things because of the moratorium that landed because of the suit, but withing a month, they said they'd no longer add anything to the game, even if the lawsuit was finished tomorrow. They knew that lawsuit was coming when they got the rights from Cunningham, because Cunningham knew the suit was coming. They went into the game knowing they had a built in escape clause in the upcoming lawsuit. I was around in beta days, all through launch, the balancing ######### show, and all. There's a reason they dragged their feet with patches. Everything about that game was designed with that lawsuit in mind. With an expiration date in mind. Never trust Gun or Illfonic.

  • On your last point, devs said not long after the lawsuit started that even if it got resolved, even quickly, that they would no longer be updating the game, PERIOD. So no, they wouldn't be focusing on his own game. They abandoned it the second the lawsuit (which they knew of when they got the license). Thst game was always a nostalgia cash grab with a guaranteed expiration date for those scumbag developers.

Been thinking few other features also, for example doors you could slam to killers face ;D Killer could smash through them, just like pallets idk. We need more versatile ways to be creative with escaping the killer. What comes to vault cancelling, maybe to be able to cancel medium and slow vault only.

I've always been behind ideas for more interaction. Pull downs that can stun/slow the killer but instantly shatter and are just one use. Fire barrels that can be kicked over for a partial blind. A few hiding spaces other than lockers. Sections of haybale/log areas where survivor OR killer can pull it down, but it permanently blocks the path instead of being breakable. There's been a lot of good ideas over the years.

This keeps poping up and it's getting kind of old. Hey @Peanits go tell the person who designed Freddy's claws to make them longer (maybe put jingle bells on them also) so that people stop beiing worked up about his hits looking weird.

While we're at it, we should do something about trapper, too, since he "moves faster than any other killer"

  • Crystal Lake is fair game, actually.

  • The mechanic just needs to go. It's uselessly damaging to hands and keyboards, however minor, and it has no effect on the outcome (ie no mechanical benefit such as the faster you press, the longer you last). It can easily be replaced by a "hold" or just removed and an option to press or hold something to give up. The latter also eliminates the lag deaths it causes as well.

I get that BHVR wanted a way to make stage 2 feel desperate and induce some anxiety, but the could've done the same with less annoyance by using music and heartbeats effectively. The struggle mechanic only accomplishes its intended purpose for brand new players for a brief time before they also slide over to the "why the hell am I doing this" camp.

If they want it to tie up your attention, they can easily turn it into a much slower and slightly more involved system of having to watch the screen for stabby spider legs and push a button to lean out of the way when they strike.

  • I don't think the anniversary image should be given so much weight, but your argument about the colors is easily as valid as any other suppositions about the "hints" in the picture.

I'd also love to see Pinhead, definitely more than Candyman (even though I certainly like CM as well). For nostalgic purposes, good old Jeb Morningside is my #1, though I have no idea how you could balance those little sphere of brain sucking goodness. Also, it'd be a bit of a downer if they couldn't use Angus scrimm's likeness for it (Angus Scrimm won the horror flick lottery... With that name and those looks, he was born to be a bad, bad dude).

I just don't see them taking any risks with this at the moment when there are so many other iconic killers to focus on.

    That's a fair point
