  • Most games can easily recreate matches from telemetry data. Dbd even records all the telemetry needed to do so, as well. This isn't some "complicated system", and it's pretty much industry standard for match based pvp games, especially ones that have any sort of competitive pretensions. BHVR just does not want to put forth the time, effort, and money to have folks reviewing it. I wouldn't be surprised if they never even bothered to code a tool to replay the telemetry. They collect it, since they use it for stats and balancing looks, but they ignore it for its most useful benefit - match review. By throwing the onus onto the players for not only reporting, but preemptively collecting all possible evidence from every single moment of gameplay, they create a plausible deniability for themselves so that they can greatly limit the number of legitimate reports they have to investigate without having to look like they're willfully ignoring them.

  • I would say you guessed correctly.

  • Yep, it sucks. The only advantage you get is simple though... You get to go find a new game in 2 minutes, and you know it won't be against THAT killer... assuming your queue times are decent.

  • Even without people bringing them, Survivors find at least 1 key in chest in just about every single match (not necessarily 1 PER surv) , so yeah.

no because there’s literally an official discord for swf groups.

The hypocrisy here is staggering. Go reread your OP.

"you are using a third party software to give you an advantage that you normally wouldn’t be able to get, so it’s as simple as that: if you use a third party software to give you an advantage (advantage being constant communication with your team) your cheating."

Game was never meant to have voice comms, hence why it's not there. Players running only the game and no third party software cannot access this ability. By your own definition, it's cheating, regardless of the existence of channels for it on the third party software itself.

  • Games with mechanics that are anything like that are typically designed 100% around that mechanic. If these devs tried to shoehorn it in, well, congrats, we'll all be waiting til dbd2 lands before ever playing dbd again.

  • It's also kinda funny that people keep wanting the devs to "do something" about camping and tunneling, when the head balance guy legit tunnels right off the hook all the time, in any game state, as well as camping (especially for Survivors daring to use sprint burst).

  • There can be fun moments if you walk over to them while looking off in another direction, act confused, and 180 spin and hit them. I like to imagine that occasionally causes a little pee to come out, not unlike spoopy Myers.

  • The proper way to limit tunneling is to create an actual, tangible penalty for being injured. Currently, there is zero solid reasons for a killer to let an injured survivor go vs a healthy one, because that injured survivor is just as effective at everything as the healthy one. The only way to limit that survivor currently is to actually down them.

If being injured carried significant penalties to actions, there'd be a lot more reason to let them go and try to get someone else injured instead.

It won't eliminate tunneling, but it would provide an actual benefit to NOT tunneling.

I know they do often read the most heavily upvoted, but I don't know if they ever said they don't handpick questions. I'm pretty sure there was a question about OoO that was pretty highly upvoted too...

I never understood, why they would choose questions, they can´t answer. It would be different, if the questions came from the chat during a live stream. But those questions are chosen and were cleared before the stream even starts.

We choose the questions that have the most upvotes. We made this change after the feedback we received on these forums about only answering certain questions and not the ones that the Community wanted answered. We make very clear that some things can't be discussed, such as upcoming changes/content etc...but then when we don't pick those questions, we're accused of "cherry picking" - that's why we made the decision to use the questions with the most upvotes

Someone from BHVR did say exactly that in another thread on this forum. I think it may have been mandytalk. Not sure how much they count as actually speaking for bvhr, though.

  • No, don't agree. It simply speeds up the end of the game. If you're the last one to go up after everyone is dead, there's nothing you can do except drag out the game a tiny bit more.

You'll get more points by getting into a new game that much faster as you would for anything else you could do in this one.

  • Are we at all surprised the devs managed to fail to consider that the one of the only perks in the game that gives you a mori effect might be affected by the mori change unless they fiddled with it.

Someone should probably go check on Rancor as well.

I wouldn't be half surprised if this gets called a "feature".

  • Around the same time they get hit validation working properly, maybe.

  • I've said this for ages, but BHVR will always take the easiest path out whenever possible. It's why we get so many bandaid perks and powers to deal with game mechanics issues.

They rail about how we call them lazy, yet every opportunity, they take the easy way out. Like pigs traps in egc, legion's nerf.

I think they half learned their lesson on the Legion nerf, because they actually put effort into doctor and Freddy, and even if you dislike them, you have to admit they were big changes that functionally changed the killers.

This moments are few and far between, however.

Someone above claims that Almo has stated this, IDK if that's true, since I haven't seen it myself but I see no reason for them to lie.

I agree it's a bit of a weird wording, but if you read the description, it does say 'activates' and 'deactivates' implying that you can keep activating it so long as the conditions are met. I was unsure at first, too, however, as the descriptions to tend to be inconsistent with what actually happens.

Ah, it may be on one of his streams then, might go look for it if I can stand it.

This is true, BHVR is really not good at consistency or transparency when it comes to perk/power descriptions, so it's definitely just as likely.

I'm willing to accept second hand confirmation on its face for this one.

I really hope the hotfix is today. If it isn't it's either tommorow or next week ...

If it doesn't happen real soon, then it's likely not going to happen til 2021. These devs take Christmas off 100%, no questions. They once went ahead on Christmas break even though we had Myers running around with chainsaws.

So let's hope it happens real quick like.

  • @SunderMun said:

No, it's not. The wording is a bit confusing, but basically the 'once used, it deactivates' refers to the fact you have to get the wiggle bar back up to use/activate it again.

This perk is 100% intended to be useable multiple times in a match, however it would be insanely rare to get even one use out of it.

@Callmehandsome this doesn't work anymore; they specifically added a delay after being picked up so that you couldn't instantly save yourself when using Flip Flop. Which, honestly, I think was the wrong call, since it was already going to be incredibly niche to run that combination of perks, and frankly having a reason to run off meta would give a ton of killers a lot of slack in that they'd have to deal with aggressive DS uses a bit less.

Have we had any actual confirmation on that? Seems nonsensical to add language indicating that the perk resets once used, as every perk that works similarly does so. Also the fact that it says deactivates instead of reset.

I'm absolutely willing to believe you're correct, just wondering if anyone official has chimed in on it.

Also, isn't the flip flop lack of synergy listed in the known bugs section of the patch notes, implying that it IS meant to be able to be used that way?

  • Jeff seems to have a bit of a dad gut to me.

  • Always remember... If you're a trash killer, and they died to you, then what does that say about their skills, exactly?

  • It's supposed to only work once. Currently, it has unlimited uses.

The fact this killer went all these years without being nerfed or reworked still baffles me. Meanwhile Billy was butchered and Nurse's addons are a meme.

Should just have crouched 4head, get outplayed.

She actually did get something of a rework, and it was to buff her, since she was kind of a mess for quite a while.

  • Honestly, that last part is kind of useless to add... Anyone who WAS cheating would say the same.

This also does look an awful lot like what would happen if you tried to install a secondhand save file and screwed it up...

Or used that program that let's you alter steam stats and achievements.

Regardless, none of us can help you, and the only thing you CAN do is keep trying to appeal, or start over.

  • Basement works great for any highly mobile killer without needing to camp. Billy for example, can turn around when he gets the unhook note and be back in plenty of time to down one or both of the Survivors coming up the stairs.

Lockers are a wash, if the killer didn't see you come out and didn't see scratch marks, they know you're either in a corner or in a locker.

The basement is an incredibly strong tool for a killer.

Double back rarely works anymore. Most Nurses I’m up against seemingly have the ability to stop mid blink at exactly where I am, no matter how unpredictably I try and run.

Good nurses either see you starting to double back or learn from your previous play and aim the camera towards the ground when you do to short blink instead of their original long blink. They can't actually stop mid blink.

  • Collecting your power works so well for trapper, after all.

Traps are way too much of a coin flip to dro down to collecting them and only having one at a time.

  • Yes, let's go ahead and add FNAF, superheroes, and jedi to the game.

That's exactly what most of us want.

  • If only that was the only bug that's been sticking around that long.

They spent months if not a year setting up ded servers, it's questionable if they even CAN fix them, imo.

  • Here's a crazy idea...

Maybe they should have fixed the bugs BEFORE pushing them to live... You know, like a lot of people suggested after seeing the pathetic state of the PTB. Instead, we got the ptb bugs PLUS dozens more (even if you don't count the ones that "aren't actually bugged"), including completely broken perks and killer powers.

Yeah, no, they don't deserve a pass.

I've only been playing just over a month now and received plenty of hate-mail myself - one message was warranted, actually (I facecamped in a few early games because my inexperience made me feel like that was my only option at the time to get a kill), but most of it is just plain mean for no good reason. Not exactly the nicest welcome to the game but, it is what it is lol.

If you've only been here a month, then what you did wasn't even face camping. That ship sailed a long time ago. You were just regular camping.

Let me start with prefacing I had enjoyed the twins in the PTB, the idea was cool and refreshing.

That said, after versing them quite often since release, I am really starting to hate them.

Pretty much 95% of the competent killers at red ranks go for a slug fest. There are so many games where you end up with 2-3 and even 4 people slugged.

This is NOT fun at all from a survivor perspective. It is even worse than being camped as it completely ruins a players experience.

Tofu and Scott also made videos to discuss this.

I think something needs to be done, I don't care about winning in DBD but I care about having fun and being slugged is the antithesis of fun.

Lmao, have you seen almo play? He's the last person you would be making this request to if you had.

  • Considering we're trapped in the killer now even with it turned off, I agree. Either activate both or shut off both until you're ready to activate both.

We got to stop using DS before they nerf it. So let’s hold off for a while and the DS pick rate can go down. Switch DS with “For the people” so the killer still thinks DS is in the lobby.

Relax, even if every single survivor used DS every single match, the devs would make no meaningful nerfs to it.

  • Apparently power struggle can be used multiple times in a match. I heard this one second hand, however.

yeah but as a survivor main if i see someone getting camped at the fallout because the game went off the rails in the survivors favor i will risk my escape to save. especially if im running BT. Usually this method ends with ME dead on hook but hey my conscience is clear lol

Yeah, and you're not alone. Just always remember if you wind up giving a camper multiple kills doing that, you're encouraging them.

It's also why I can't take kill rate stays seriously. I see a whole lot of people throw away the whole team just to try and save one guy.

I guess I'm just a bit more mercenary in how I play, I save folks when I can, but if you get nailed right at the end and the killer is clearly securing it... I'm out, man, I'll see you at the campfire.

  • Yeah, my favorite so far was a Dwight that blinded me as a Myers in Tier 3 from like 5 feet in front of me, right after I stabbed someone... I wasn't even like animation locked (this was back when insta blinds were around). I was laughing about that the entire rest of the game.

Dude i didnt even think about exit gate camping. Thats a scary thought lol. Thank you for your input i didnt want to just chalk it up to a batch of toxic killers. i figured this is promoted and dont want to hold it against the killers. without them there will be no me. cant play killer to save my life.

    Yeah, it is pretty terrifying.

Honestly, despite the general belief of many forum Survivors, there's a large number of killers who don't camp or only camp when the situation calls for it (like you hook a guy and there's 2 Survivors just standing around waiting like they don't have anything better to do).

There's also a subset I'd call desperation camping, when the game has gone totally off the rails for the killer and they decide they'd rather at least have one skull on the score screen than zero.

  • Funny enough, this works way too often even without light born and while totally blind. There's a concerning number of potatoes out there who blind a killer and just stand there in the same spot the whole time.

Not likely to happen if it's a clear bully squad like your example though.

  • @chieften333 said:

I've been wondering why there's no base game counter to stuff like that.

I shouldn't have to spend a perk slot just to cover for unbalanced and unfun gameplay.

Well, there is a base game mechanic that counters it. That's why you can now unhook from any angle, and as a consequence, "face camping" no longer actually exists. At the time, before the unhook from any angle, the killer could literally prevent the unhook prompt from even appearing to Survivors, by standing right up against them.

As for all the other camping, the OP forgot borrowed time, which is super handy.

As for non-perk measure, you can use teamwork to engineer an escape vs just about any killer (obviously Bubba is an issue for that), or you use teamwork and practically guarantee a survivor win by 3 escape.

The game has always had a blurb in the promo - "Survive together, or don't."

If a killer is camping and you don't feel capable of accomplishing a save... then just go ahead and win, there's always another match around the corner.

  • You are just arguing semantics and it's not worthwhile. You're trying to apply a literal meaning to a term that isn't meant to be taken literally.

  • The easiest way to relieve the grind is to just do away with perk tiers altogether. There's really no reason for them to even exist. The only point to tiers is to artificially increase the length of time spent grinding, period. At the very least, just eliminate one tier and have them all go "Enduring - Basic" - > "Enduring - Advanced"

  • @TheKnowlesFam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1795797#Comment_1795797

So then what you are saying is that the players who, say main as nurse, do NOT play this way and it is essentially the best strategy as the twins?

I question if the killer doesnt camp as their main do they camp as the twins because thats what the twins promote?

I think there are hundreds of strategies for a killer to use as trapper or Myers and so on but the twins promote this single strategy.

perhaps not face camping as much as babysitting.

My statement was that yes, the twins power setup actively promotes slugging, because at the level of both sides being good mechanical players and both sides are actively trying to WIN the match, the Twins optimal strategy is injuring all or most Survivors, the using Victor to down all the injured players. I'd argue that the Twins, in fact, cannot even win without doing so (again, looking at it from both sides being high skilled, trying to win, and playing optimally - because that's wheee balancing in pvp games has to actually start from).

Obviously, twins vs Survivors who are less skilled than they are leave them more room to play with other strategies. Even then, it's still most efficient to do it the slugging way.

I don't think the twins REQUIRE the alternating control camping, but they absolutely are well suited for it.

Same goes for exit gate camping.

Not necessary to win, but the design makes it effective to do on her.

So yes, unlike a few, much stronger killers, the twins design definitely encourages methods that are less than fun for Survivors to play against.

That being said, heavy slugging is often very effective on any killer, and when a high tier nurse player decides to play the slug game, say when the Survivors all grouped up to heal someone, it's scary how fast a match can go from up in the air to "all over but the crying".

  • The way the twins are built absolutely encourages slugging and, to a lesser degree, camping. If you're playing to win, then you are most likely injuring everyone with Charlotte and some Victor, then slugging as many as possible with Victor. Against good Survivors who are also trying to win, it's pretty much required, otherwise gens will quickly and easily outpace your damage.

  • You stay in pairs and stay healed, and Victor becomes essentially a periodic annoyance.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1795497#Comment_1795497

    Just a correction.

Power Struggle can currently be used multiple times. I power struggled this Doctor twice in one match which also earned me the achievement Rescue Mission.

For real? Did they change it on purpose, or is it just another one of the 200 bugs in this patch?

  • Kill rates are the absolute worst metric to use for anything in this game, when you have 500 variables that contribute to it, not the least is Survivors throwing away easy 3es and serving up 4ks because they are bored and want to try and unhook the one dude who is actually in danger.

It's even more hilarious that they bring up the difference in kill rates in relation to the bloodlust test, when bloodlust exists to shorten chase times... So why are they even talking about kill rates in thst case?

Honestly, the dbd balance crew has a terrible understanding of balance, or fun.

  • It's pretty poor. Even if they fix it combined with flip flop, it's still going to be poor. It'll be a tiny bit useful early on, until killers get used to just always going around pallets rather than doing it situationally, at that point it becomes a when-the-stars-align perk that only works when you waste 2 perk slots for a one time pseudo ds that also burns up a pallet, and is only possible if the killer manages to down you right at the pallet.

After killers adjust, it's going to be nothing but a meme perk for people attempting bully squads. Honestly, it's even worse than coup de grace, before it's nerf, and that was trash even then.
