Tuesday 7th is when the new chapter drops, 11am Canada time (which is usually 4pm here)
Ahhh I was trying to figure this out. Thanks.
-
I think it's about mind set. It would be a lie for me to say I've never been tilted over this game. A good SWF against my not so good killer skills feels bad man. I just want to have fun though, and if I'm not, I log off and go do something else. DBD makes me laugh a lot, for better or worse, lol. I can 100% see how someone could feel bullied though, but you've gotta remember it's just a game, even if it's a game you've put a lot of time and care into.
-
Pffffffffsh, just go cleanse some bones. Inner Healing. In the broom closet you go. Swear you have to hold everyone's hand these days!
-
Just people with poor sportsmanship usually. As it is in every game, though I don't think DBD is the worst by far.

It seems they were focused on how sbmm effects player enjoyment and skill balance. I dont think they needed a survey for that. Its bad. Anyone thats stuck in solo q hell knows its bad. (currently im stuck in a place where the game thinks im good enough to carry an entire match, so i get strong killers and teammates that act like its their first match. Every time.) I would like them to get more feedback on the kinds of things you mentioned if they do future surveys.
Even putting a text box at the end of this survey that asked why you did or didnt have fun couldve been very helpful.
I can't agree or disagree too much about how bad SBMM is. When it first came out, I was still playing actively and it felt bad, especially when I was bringing people new to the game with me. I took a break for a bit and playing casually the last few days has put me in silver ranks, for whatever that means.
The main reason I quoted this is I really wish they'd have given us a text box when I was filling out that survey. First match had someone blatantly exploiting, because we could hear Oni and his terror radius but he was no where to be seen. Then there was one match where the killer just wanted to farm, which is fine, but isn't a true reflection of how the game is suppose to be played. We also had one where someone DC'ed. So there's a lot of details that could help, but there's no way to provide them.

the prestige update is coming this summer, probably during the midchapter. With the anniversary and rank reset coming up, you should have time. during double BP i was able to P3 4 killers (Demo Phead Artist Slinger). It isnt really that hard.
and P3 survivors: Feng. And P1 Jeff.
Ahhhh the events are a good point! I think I'll see if I can rush in a Feng and Piggy prestige with the BP bonus. I have everyone (but 2 killers) at 50, so I'll see if I can finish them off too. Thanks.
-
No killers P3, though I kind of wish I had P3'd Pig. Probably won't have time before the update.
Survivors: Cheryl, Jill, and Claudette. Contemplating if I should P3 Feng and/or Nancy or just wait.
-
I was also wondering this, so I hope it's alright to bump up a thread from the grave. I've updated all of my usual characters and just have 2 killers I need to get to 50. So, to prestige Feng, or just wait is the question. If the rewards are good enough I wouldn't mind grinding her out real quick, but if it's like... a hat? I'm gonna be a little disappointed, lol.
-
Hello my name is Cheeto and I'm a whale.
Really though I'll buy any survivor outfit that I think looks great, especially if it's on my main characters (Cheryl, Jill, Feng, Nancy, and Claudette.)
When it comes to killer I care a lot less since I can't really see them, but if it's especially nice I might spring for it.
-
I believe Netflix has no interest in renewing a license with BHVR because they are coming out with their own game. Seems like that ship sailed once they had to rework perks and remove everything you could purchase. It's a shame because ST's initially drew me to the game. Nancy was my first main. </3 I also feel like they would get more continued exposure through DBD than something stand alone, with how big DBD has become. Netflix makes some odd decisions if this was all them.
-
Agreed. The new Feng shorts from the rift clip with just about everything I tried to match it with (outside of the set), and while I'm not a fan of clipping... I don't understand why it's okay for some costumes and not others? I prefer being able to mix and match.
-
Oh man I'm glad I took the time to read this! Now I don't know if I wanna go ahead and prestige Feng, or wait for the overhaul. That prestige rework is sooooo juicy though. <3 Will the event masks be available for all characters or only unlicensed ones?
-
@Mandy said:
You did it correctly, by including the perk and the offering amounts.
Ah man, I was using the base amount. If we do it more than once do we get more BP or is 7 and done the limit?
-
Favs -
Survivor: Head On. It's just good fun.
Killer: BBQ. I'm a blood point fiend.
Least Favs -
Survivor: OoO. Those who don't use it well end up dead, and those who use it too well can ruin a killer's day.
Killer: There's a bunch I never use, so hard to say. With survivor going non-meta is viable, but killer for me is stress, so I go all in usually.
-
I've thought about this before and agree to some extent, but I remember the days where you were not going to end up on a stream in a multiplayer game. If anything, maybe a recorded video with bandicam embossed at the top, lol. It's not a big deal to me though, and it's basically a US news situation: You've been caught on camera in the background, and you didn't even know until it aired. The good thing about that is unless you're already known publicly for other reasons, no one is going to remember you were the 15th extra in a day. Honestly could not tell you a single survivor's name that has gone against Otzdarva (besides maybe people who are already associated with him heavily like his girlfriend), and I watch him quite a lot these days. I can remember interesting interactions, just not actual screen names.
So unethical? Maybe a tad, since monetization and account association are involved. I play this game for my own amusement, and hope to not end up on some angry streamer's show case. 99% of the time though I don't think it matters much. I know there are people who have gotten negative attention from it, but it's the risk you take with most social venues online now.
Ninja Edit: And I don't agree with people deserving some form of monetary compensation. That and having to ask individual permission would effectively kill massive multiplayer streaming, and it's the greatest asset games have for advertising. I'd like to see DBD continue to thrive, even if that means some toes get stepped on.

So instead they disappoint us by not talking at all?
For example, the whole colorblind mode fiasco could have been avoided by talking to us. If we'd have know that it's planned, no one would have complained.
But didn't one of the devs say it wasn't something they cared about and that caused an uproar? It's stuff like that too that makes devs become a bit more shy. Generally the more aggressively critical a community is (and hey, sometimes I think it's warranted), the quieter the devs get.

No you are not a bad guy for quitting a match in a videogame. You were simply frustrated and decided to remove yourself from the very situation that made you feel that way.
Those survivors can easily search for another match, other than some free time nothing of value was lost.
However, quitting in this game bans you and the time increases depending on how often you quit or lose connection. So take that into consideration whenever you find yourself in a similar situation.
Yeah, I'm with this comment. It's a game, and when a game ceases to be fun, I can't fault someone for quitting. That said, trying to get into the mind set that losing, even terribly, can be fun, will make killer a lot more enjoyable. Everyone gets those matches once in a while, so learning from it is beneficial. Like a lot of folks said, tunneling and camping them out is also a viable strat. They wanted to give you a hard time, give them one back, and let anything else (losing, mean comments, whatever) roll off your back.

Rude. Bills can be whatever they want to be even if that means 99% of the time you were slugged for like 80 seconds and did not recover at all or even crawl away so when I go to try and pick you up I die because you were at 0 ######### recovery or that I will sabo 4 ######### hooks and you stop wiggling halfway through. I am definetly not speaking from experience. Nope these never happened to me. I do not despise bills almost as much as cheryls. Definetly not.
Cheryl main backs out of the chat.

Aesthetically, Trickster is *chef's kiss.* I love his audio, his lore is pretty cool, his look is a nice change of pace... but yeah his gameplay needs some love. He could be so much better.
-
@dspaceman20 said:
Because I was playing as a Claudette.
Once was told I was face camped because I was Bill and "All bills are sl...ts." I think about that from time to time, lol.
-
I just know I'm in for a bad time when I'm running from one unhook to another and can't stop to do anything else.
-
I break to play other games, but I've been playing more lately since my hubs wants to. Definitely not as much though as when I started and quarantine was a new thing. Just got vaccinated so I'm hoping to go out into the world a little bit.
-
Mmm, I get it. Bubba and Billy use to turn my stomach, but it's the disfigurement angle for me mixed with chainsaws. I got use to it, but I'm not a big fan of the characters still.
-
Well, it's prime time here in the US, and after 4 games.. I finally got a Trickster match! Then Steam bloody DCed us all, lmao. I am a little disappointed to have not gotten to go against Trickster, and it does say something about this launch. However, I bought the DLC, and two new cosmetics, so I'm whaling it up.
Also, I've been playing Home Sweet Home some this week. It's a neat concept but they need better international servers, because latency makes the hit boxes look broken... if they aren't actually? And yeah it just needs a ton of work. It's one of those I probably won't be playing for a while, and watching to see if everything gets fixed. It's like DBD but it has it's own flavor.
-
Now count Dwight's, lol. Gotta admit, I was kinda hoping for Cheryl's Jpop outfit with this update. Woulda fit perfect.

@JimbusCrimbus said:
The fact that the word "killed" is censored is actually mind boggling.
Uh.... hopefully they plan to revise what all is included...
I'd rather have it optional myself. Let people who are bothered by profanity leave it on, and the rest of us leave if off.
-
I'll always take hatch if it's available, or open the other exit gate if I know it hasn't been popped. Since two are gone, I'm assuming they're dead, but if not I'd look for a way to help any of my other mates out. If I'm being chased though, and definitely if I'm injured, I'll head to the open gate.
-
I mean, they need feedback. Good and bad. Unfortunately from what I've seen so far (just various streams, waiting to verify the integrity of my files...) even the people who play this game as a job are asking for a buff. DeadbyDaylight @ Twitch commented in one chat that they're taking everyone's feedback in, when that chat itself wasn't too happy with how the Trickster has gone. It's an all around good thing, so maybe the Trickster will be more fun for killers and survivors.
-
I think it was Twitch... but I honestly don't remember the first initial place. I know I followed up with watching Twitch vids to see if it was my cup of tea.
-
Top:
- Piggy
- Pyramid Head
- Legion
- Ghostface
- Twins
Bottom:
- Freddy
- Deathslinger
- Blight (to play as, I like going against one.)
- Nurse (again to play as, going against one is fun.)
- Hag (a good one is game over 3/4th of the time, but I admit I like playing her.)

There will always be perks that are just better than the rest and that's fine. Some are used by beginners, some are used for memes, some are used by teams and some are there for synergy. Most of them make sense and don't need a huge buff.
Agreed with this. Whenever a game tried to shake up the meta by changing perks/skills/classes/etc around, a new meta emerges and it starts over again. There's only a couple of perks that are totally useless. Everything mostly has its place, so I'm fine with how it is.

I maintain happiness by how many people talk to me. By 2am everyone is pretty much asleep so ehh
I use to do that, partly. Being happy in your own company can be challenging sometimes. Takes practice. In the meantime, Twitch chats can be fun. Especially if you find ones that aren't moving a hundred miles an hour.
Something happy: It's looking like I'll be able to get vaccinated for COVID soon. I just wanna be able to sit in a public restaurant without having to worry. I haven't been to one since late Feb of 2020.
-
I like a bit of everything, but rock music holds a special place in my heart. Everything from Jimi Hendrix to Kittie to the Goo Goo Dolls. Recently started getting into a bit of Kpop. Dream Perfect Regime is my latest discovery, and I'm hooked.
-
I went all out for mine. Further hooks apart offering, iron will in case I was injured so I could be some what stealthy, and sabo tool box with notification add on. What actually worked though (got it second try) was the hook offering which ended up being on Ormond. I ran in front to sabo, he smacked me, I stuck with the sabo, he downed me, and the person got away directly after.
-
Yes, but I'm also wearing a reindeer onesie. That's like a bullseye imo.

Legion! They're easy enough to learn as i'm pretty new to the game and I love their aesthetic :) Though I've recently been trying to pick up Nurse since she seems really rewarding to actually learn, now that i have an okay grip of the basics from playing as Legion, even if the two killers don't really have much in common, haha
Legion was my first too, and they are a blast. It's like I kind of forget about them for some reason, but I should play them more. Great for BP.

Good Hag - Unfun because you need to crouch everywhere
Bad Hag - Unfun because she will camp you
Yep, agreed. I get one Hag game, I expect 5 more to come, and grab a flashlight.

Piggy & Pyramid Head are my favs. Spirit when I just want to destroy.

Any time a good Ghost Face appears out of no where. Creepy mofo.

Are you crazy? Piggy's snoot waggling is a thing of joy.

I actually appreciate an opportunity to test out these changes to see if this makes a difference. DBD offer a 24hr test period so we can give feedback sounds like a very inclusive act.

Yup, kinda wanna play now. I was just dropping by the forums because I'm bored and destressing. Time to get stressed back out, lol.

Might make popcorn and watch a movie. We've been waiting a while but it mustn't be easily fixable.

Must be everywhere, south EST here.

Same here. I got a match 3 times, disconnected mid-load* each time, tried to relog, and now stuck at "Checking Platform Services."

I'd like an LGBTQ character too, preferably without any "hey sisters" jokes involved, but again, it's a perilous road for BHVR to traverse, for so little gain.
The importance of representation is underestimated, but that's a whoooole other discussion. One that I might not even be able to do justice for since I don't feel under represented at this point in time. Still, I'm gonna cross my fingers. If James Charles shows up as a survivor, at least know the makeup community will be roasting BHVR too.

That's what BHVR would want to avoid; writing them like a normal, heterosexual character, but having them be gay will be perceived as "cheap." Each detail in a survivor's story is there for value. Zarina's immigrant descent highlights her dedication to social justice; she's suffered racism and she's dedicated to fighting it. Elodié's race is bit more suspect. I guessed she was supposed to be like Chloe Frazer or Nadine Ross, strong, non-white treasure hunting women who can stand for themselves. Yun-Jin is Korean because 1) That's where the music industry is, and 2) Korea used to be very poor, and has a huge wealth gap. Those that got rich had to drag themselves out of abject poverty and hope for a lucky break, demonstrating her grit and perseverance. Yui is Japanese because Japan is a very, very traditional country. She breaks the mold.
Meanwhile, if David turns out to be gay, hooray for me and my Kingfield fanfiction bank, but it contributes little to his character. He grew up in privilege and has some very close friends, so it doesn't address any social exclusion or loneliness, common issues for LGBTQ peoples. If Nea turns out to be lesbian, great for the lesbians (and the straight men), but it contributes little to her character.
But, if Dwight turns out to be gay, it would fit. He grew up in forced introversion and dealt with bullying his entire life, even as an adult. However, a lot of people are going to complain about stereotyping homosexuals as nervous, effeminate, and submissive.
I'm pretty sure it's going to be a new character who is LGBTQ, and so they have an opportunity to create a storyline that makes it an interesting detail that some how plays into the main idea of the story. Their significant other would have to be either some how important, or maybe the LGBT community. Could be that they worked with LGBT youth, as abandonment, homelessness, and many other issues are a real problem. Being a character that brings hopefulness is totally the entity's MO. That also does make the storyline a little more LGBTQ focused, but I don't see it as an insulting stereotype.

@ShamelessPigMain said:

Well, the issue there is that tacking on "gay" or "lesbian" to a character makes them feel artificial, or like a diversity hire, like every Netflix high school athlete whose big twist is that they were actually gay the whole time. It contributes little to their character, it's just there for superficial diversity.
Plus, Nurse's husband is a not inconsiderable part of her story. Family was clearly very important to her, and even though he is mentioned like only once, his absence and death has very consequential effects on her story.
That's why I say a story like following their lover into the fog makes it important to the storyline. Writing LGBTQ characters like straight characters is easily done. You just make the details important to the story, and it's a detail, not the main idea.
I do hope if and when it happens they adhere to some how making it important, and not a stereotype.
