I was disappointed my question about further controller optimization was ignored. Between PS4, XBOX, and PC users, there is a lot of us. And I don't feel this was an unwarranted question since this update does include some controller changes.

And then watch Lagswitching rise again. DCing rise again. Okay instead of asking for them to be removed you should be asking for them to be improved otherwise their fixing one problem and adding other problems back
Lagswitching is already still a thing. I've gotten a few games recently of rubberbanding whenever chases start. I agree though all of this needs to be improved.

As of 200 something hours, I have half the cast of survivors ranked up, and no killers reasonably leveled. My reasoning for this is I bought the game to play with someone, so I'm going to work on the aspect of the game I can play with someone first. On the bright side, it has encouraged me to play around with a lot of random builds, so I've learned a lot about the survivor's side & how to utilize perks I'd never have touched. On the downside, I've had to learn about killers, their abilities, and their general game play outside of the game. As a lot of people will tell you, playing both is how you become good at either side. I just can't do that in a way that is at all fun, so Youtube / Twitch it had to be for now.
Of the many threads I've read now in regards to this, my favorite idea is just removing tiers from perks. It would save a ton of blood points in both normal leveling & encouraging people to prestige, while still not being so fast you'd skip over trying out a lot of builds.

Technically Steve, Nancy, & Laurie (unsure about Quentin) all grow up within their series. By season 3, Nancy & Steve are struggling adults with jobs. Laurie would have been 18+ by the next movie. They do however use Nancy & Steve's original outfits from season 1, so that is a push, but they also have their season 3 attire, and the looks do pass for someone being a young adult. So as of being put into the game, those 3 were considered adults.
I'd personally be against putting someone who looks like a child into the game. For both personal and rating reasons. They could put the adults from the second It film though, if we go with the first paragraphs logic.

I still really want Brenda Meeks. I can't help it. She'd be a wonderful character in addition to Ghost Face, since he didn't have a companion survivor!

And then we could get this costume for Ghost Face.
I know it's not an original theme, more like expanding on an existing one.
I gotta admit I do like the yandere and Jack the Ripper ideas.

I think that's the mistake most people make: Saving it. That's not to say you shouldn't walk more, but it's handy for also getting to survivors on hook, getting away from the area you just unhooked (since they'll know you're there now, good for fighting campers if you bring Borrowed Time too), moving from a completed generator, moving through open empty areas where nothing will obstruct the killer's line of sight, seeing a glowy totem & panicking to get to it and get it done lol, etc. I disliked it at first until I stopped saving it for just when the killer is already there. Fixated or Urban Evasion is nice to go with it, but I wouldn't say necessary.
-
No thank you. I'd be kinda cheesed off if a game I bought for my husband & I to bond over started punishing us for playing together. He's not the best at this game either, because he's new to gaming in general.
"Honey, which killer is it?"
"The one with the mask."
"...."
You get my point. I know this keeps getting brought up in other threads, but I don't think most SWF teams are actually SWAT teams. I mean, say this was actually implemented and I read in reviews before purchasing it that you shouldn't bother playing this game with friends because they detract from your experience some how. I know I wouldn't purchase it.
-
I've won a few where it was 3 v 1 after 200 hours. A lot of people like to suicide, especially if they are downed within the first two minutes. It's challenging, for sure. So I just play normally unless the killer indicates they'd rather farm. I wouldn't want the killer to not get something out of it though. No sense in the whole thing being spoiled for them and no one else.
I will say I've had a lot of killers apologize afterwards for survivors DCing and them doing their thing. Not their fault, just report the spoil sport and move on.

What controller improvements do you have planned if any, beyond sensitivity?

Let me assume youre from USA? Cause otherwise it would be questionable to ask for an ingame voicechat.
Even in the US region, the devs have stated that could be problematic. You could be paired with a Spanish or French speaker, because our neighbors speak both.
I'm not interested in chatting with people I don't know, for a couple of personal reasons. Plus this game already has a pretty large problem with bad manners and toxic players. Voice chat is notoriously hard to monitor for most if not all companies. And then, a lot of the game is based on listening for sound cues. I'm just imagining some arse pulling a Patrick Swayze from "Ghost."
I agree there is a balance issue between the two, but there's a lot of people looking for SWF on Discord, or you can find people from previous matches you liked playing with, or friends who own the game. I'd rather not be forced into it. Before someone says "Well, you could mute", then I'm handicapping my team, since VC would then be an expected feature, and all future balancing would be based on that.
-
Yes. There's an option under the report section that says "AFK" in the description. He was probably trying to depip.
Side note, I had a wraith who did that one match. Instead of leaving, we all goofed around & farmed whatever we could. So he opened the door himself, lol.

Mostly because people play it way to much
It's a very addicting game which leads to people who play it constantly
Which in itself is ofcourse not a bad thing but no matter how you look at it this game has tension, which often leads to frustrations
And people just let those frustrations build up, to the point that everything frustrates them
Imo DbD is a game best played on the side, having a more relaxing game to play after a frustrating dbd game makes a world of difference
The "Play Civilitation" meme actually has a big truth behind it
I can't remember the last time i got annoyed or frustrated at this game
Yeah I think this & Xeno's explanation's cover it.
A.) It's a tense game. Tension can lead to frustration, especially when you get a string of bad matches where you tried your best, but it didn't pan out. Funny enough, the first time I hit rank 6 I was drunk and laughing my ass off. The best way to play this game is relaxed, but that can be hard to do. Still, you make better judgement calls, even drunk apparently.
B.) Taking things personally. It can also be hard not to do when someone says you play like crap, singles you out in a match, your fellow survivor's throw you under a bus, etc. Hell, then you might even have a Twitch audience watching if you made a mistake? That's not a nice feeling.
So yeah. Best thing to do is just relax & ignore folks. Close your chat box if it bothers you enough. Play something else if you get frustrated. Stardew Valley is like the anti-DBD in terms of community & relaxation.

Borrowed Time & Sprint Burst. Try to watch which direction he moves and SB around him. This only works if he lets you get the unhook finished, but a lot of them do. Otherwise, do gens like they said.

Also really puts this post of his in perspective when he openly declared in another post to derive pleasure from ruining others' day by going through those "legitimate strats" (which technically they are). It seems to me this user just wants to get his kicks out of boredom through acting a certain way known to ruin at least one player's experience and then complain when they point it out that it's borderline bad manners.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/145063/campers For reference.
LOL. That really put an interesting twist on this thread.
-
It really does take a while. In 200 hours, I have 2 characters to 50, and 9 to 40. 10 survivors left to go and no killers reasonably leveled at all. I'd like to play killer more often, but I'm focusing on survivors first since I play it more -- I got this game to play with someone. This is with me also going through both released tomes as well, playing often during the recent BP event, and if I'm lucky enough to get daily survivor challenges. I seem to get killer in abundance for daily's instead.
I wouldn't say I detest it, I played Korean MMO's for years so I'm numb to grind. I just couldn't imagine doing it again on another account.

What is determined as behaving badly? Using noed? moris? using allowable in game mechanics/strategies such as tunneling/camping? Teabagging? Slugging? Flashlighting? Locker slamming? Using "no skill' perks?
The devs have a list of bannable offenses already.
If your mental state is beaten because of the situation you are experiencing, why play a game that could potentially add more stress to your mental state?
Sometimes we need to step back and decide if something(in this case dbd) is worth the added mental anguish.
Yeah & this. BM is subjective. I can clicky clicky & tea bag one survivor and they think it's funny. Do it to another and they're ready to brawl.
I've walked away from this game a few times because I just started to get so frustrated. It's good to have feel good games in your back pocket. That can be anything from Assassin's Creed to Stardew Valley.

I'd buy the green version for myself, the pink for my mother, just 'cause she loves bunnies.

I like this thread.

Outside of text which is easily reportable proof, it's hard to tell what actually goes on in game. It would probably take multiple reports against the same person by different players, and I'm not sure how their system works. For instance, does everything one player have reported against him get filed neatly, or are the reports scattered and would require a moderator being able to notice this same person being reported repeatedly? I've seen games & chat systems both work one way or the other.
Even for reporting hacking players, they prefer that you record your games and send it to them directly here or on Discord. That would be impossible to do with every bad manner Jack & Sally. So, probably one of the reasons they don't make BM'ing bannable (outside of severe cases) is just limitations. Not to mention, this sort of behavior is pretty normal in most PVP oriented games. After playing DBD for a while now, I'd say it's almost as bad as League. Compare these forums to non-PVP gaming forums and you'll see a big difference in the sorts of threads that appear with regularity.

I know you'd want to hear what a toxic player has to say but.... I only send GG's if I had fun in game other then that I don't go out of my way to message everyone after the match
Basically this. I don't even bother arguing when a killer is being toxic, because when either side is, it's usually they just find it fun to be so. If you don't respond, you don't give them their fun. Now why do they find it fun? I'm sure there is a multitude of reason, from "hur dur I'm a troll" to insecurity. Each individual person would have to tell you, and could you even believe what they say?
It's not worth yours or anyone else's time, unless you like that kinda thing.
-
At EGC if I don't have max chase points and can't escape, I'm taking the killer for a walk, lol. Also if you're using the flashlight to stun, it's just another tool to get away, or make points, like the many in the killer's tool box to find you. I only clicky clicky at survivors though to get their attention. There has also been a few occasions where myself or my team (solo players, unless my husband was playing with me) was able to get someone off the hook from a camper and it went well. Usually you need BT & Sprint Burst & even then you have to hope they won't tunnel that specific survivor, or that the survivor being chased is good at looping. A camping Billy isn't worth it though, from what I've seen.
I agree with the bad manner bit, and even for other survivors someone bringing a key can suck. However if you've brought a mori, expect me to be immersed as possible and looking through chests.
-
Fav: Ghost Face. He scares me sometimes. Myers is a close second but he hasn't made me yelp yet.
Least Fav: Huntress. She's just my problem area with that range, and with lag delay, getting sniped behind structures feels far too common. Harder to avoid. She has my favorite character design though, and is probably a blast to play once you get the hang of it.
-
Not getting camped. Tunneling & NOED kinda sucks, but there are times I can justify tunneling, and NOED well... It's a mechanic that should encourage survivors to break totems, though many don't. Camping just sucks the fun out of everything though. No second chance tunneling chases, no finding a totem to get rid of it, just insidious Bubba staring you in the face while you live to let your teammates do gens for a couple of minutes, and then you depip with few blood points, if you're the first to get stared at.
Ninja Edit: I've not played killer as much so I'll have to develop that opinion later, but ghost face memeing is fun.
-
In addition to Borrowed Time, Sprint Burst has helped me. You can bait by letting him get close (risky, server lag if he gets too close), or go in the oppo direction in which he is running towards you. So say you're in the basement, and he runs at you from the left, you SB towards the right. Worked a couple of times for me.
-
Grats! Hope you have fun slaughtering the masses.
-
Ghost Face is my fav because none of the other killers have made me scream. His sneaky arse scares me sometimes. Myers has come close.
-
I noticed a spike in being tunneled or moried as well as bunny Feng. It's not that it has a bad reputation, which is what I think you're asking. It's that it has been apparently (I'm new-ish) awaited a long time by the community. Couple that with pink being eye catching on mostly gray maps, and it being unusually cute in a horror game, you have people who wanna kill them. Makes for good screenshots as well with the moris. I didn't know Monto & other streamers were also promoting it, but Twitch has a very real "celebrity" style fan base. They do something, a lot of people want to follow. You only have to watch the stream comment box's to see what I mean.

Brenda Meeks. My gaming experience would be complete.

Nah, I played the same Myers last night twice, and started rubber banding insanely as -soon- as the guy was on my ass. Not any other time. Can't convince me I wasn't being lag switched last night. First instance I'd noticed of it though in the last 3 months.
-
Every day I check these forums and there's a new post about how camping sucks. If that doesn't alert the devs that something is wrong, then nothing will.
-
Probably 11 AM EST.

Can I just say as a new-ish player, I'm worried? Highest rank I've hit is 6 in 155 hours. I don't know God loops well, or where everything in a map is located for that matter -- but I do know I rely on pallets quite a bit when attempting to do a good loop. So if I'm worried about anything from everything I've read between here & Reddit, it's the dead zones and lack of pallets. Some people go straight through the available pallets already. Not going to bother with the PTB since I only have 8 characters leveled & it rolls back progress for over a week, so I'll have to reserve full judgement on it's release. Just hope it's not as bad as I think it is. I already don't escape that much tbh, since playing altruistic has its disadvantages.
And my poor husband, who isn't well versed in gaming, is probably gonna have an even worse time. I picked this one up for us to play together since it would be new for us both. We enjoy it, but he hasn't even broken out of green ranks yet.
I understand that the red rank pros can run circles around some killers. I watch Twitch too. Just... yeah, not all of us are that experienced & from the ranks I'm sitting in & the randoms I play with, the killer has clear advantages already. Never mind if they decide to camp or slug at hooks.
Pallets. </3

Imma be green bunny. Too cute. ♥

I made a topic here. 🤙 My reasoning for looking for a topic already made was so I wouldn't bring up something redundantly, as some forums quite dislike that. Thank you both though for directing me to where it might get seen.

Unfortunately you'll have to wait for those to return in the store.
As said above, they plan on keeping those charms and skins exclusive for a minimum of 1 year, but of course that can always change in the future at anytime.
Yeah, pretty much why I commented. Just feedback that I'm interested and other people still are. I've seen it come up on Reddit & Steam discussions, but since this is the official forums, I wanted to see what was up here and leave my vote, so to speak.

I just want the plant & retro arcade charm. :I Just put it in ze store already. I wasn't around for the intial rift.
