It's not unique to this forum. Most people go on forums to complain, argue, and push their opinions. It's human nature.

I'm on a lot of gaming forums, both official and Reddit. Moderation goes a long way. For instance, only allowing one active thread about NOED at a time would reduce how many argumentative threads you see pop up about it. Doing that could cut down on a lot of different subjects being beaten to death.

  • Oh and as for the toxic community... It is pretty bad at times, yes, but I'm use to online games. People are often jerks. It's how you react that matters.

  • I think I'm quite nice! I just don't participate in the threads where everyone thinks their opinion is gold. So you wouldn't see me, I guess.

  • I say yes. I just started about 4 months ago? I have about 220 give or take hours on PC. My husband started a bit after me. We've been enjoying the game quite a bit. Even hit red ranks recently, and I've got about 7 survivors to finish leveling. However, I haven't gotten to level killers yet, so that does kind of suck. Imo the idea I see floating around about taking tiers from perks would help considerably. I'd like to play killer some time, with perks.

  • Hopefully in the next patch they address this.

  • The devs have stated farming is fine. You can't be forced to play along with them, and are free to play as normally as possible.

  • If it's a bug it's not a buff, the game just wasn't working as intended. Controller players are better able to keep up with keyboard players now (I finally hit red ranks, yay) because they upped controller sensitivity, but practically speaking it should have always been that way. So that's a fix, not a buff.

I don't see any survivor buffs here. I've had so many 3 gen games now, as the others mentioned.

  • Anything that is intentionally trying to upset another player. For instance, if I'm clicking at a fellow survivor, I'm trying to get their attention for something, probably to follow me. If I'm crouching up and down with another survivor, I feel like it's a way to say hello, lol. However, you do these things to the killer, it's taken as a form of taunting. Now, as some will tell you, taunting can be a tactic. I don't normally, but one person here mentioned loud notification spam is toxic. I'll do it though if I see a survivor in a chase, so hopefully they'll give up on them and come to me. Some people see teabagging as something similar; that it'll rile the killer up and throw them off their game. I don't want to upset anyone though, so not my style.

    My experience of Steve players:

You know that guy? That guy who reall just wants to help? But you know better than to let him help you because if you let him dry the dishes for you, he'll somehow cause the dam across town to rupture and destroy everything.

That's virtually every Steve I've had in game...

    😂 If that ain't the truth. I love Steve's though. I can't help it.

Nancy players - Either VERY cooperative, or will laugh at you from behind a rock. I'm the former, unless you sandbag me.

  • Usually! Unless I'm doing a challenge that requires a certain character, either due to it's stipulations, or I just don't have what I need on other characters.

I do not try to dress the same though. I'm picky and like what I like, and hopefully the killer can tell us apart.

  • Yay.

Nancy was my first character in this game, and I do not regret having Inner Strength on all of my characters.

  • Basically everything under the GameUserSettings file should just be in the game as adjustable. Like different sensitivity for cameras.

  • I want to say yes, but I have to say no.

  • I rarely say anything but if we had eye roll emojis, that'd be my go to.

  • Happened to me tonight. I present, twerking Jeff. Forgive the quality, my video recording software is being an arse so phone it is. The Ghost Face I was going against said I was just frozen in time on his.

    https://imgur.com/a/VofAAp2

I've also seen a lot more bugs in general. Like being hooked, and the game registering me as being some where else, like so:

    jeff.jpg jeff2.jpg

Stayed this way while I ran, until I found a merciful piggy box for the party hat. Then it reverted back to normal.

My husband also had this bug, ignore the title, it's not a hacker:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FToNR6s2yMc

So yep. Plus a lot of other random visual bugs.

  • Both, though I know you don't wanna hear it, lol. If I get downed early, I'll def be hiding more. If my teammates are downed early, I'll try to take aggro off them. If possible, after I'm injured I want to break line of sight and heal up with Inner Strength or a teammate which will def help with prolonging my next loop, but that means I have to hide a bit until I meet that heal. A good balance can make a game last much longer.

Chases are exciting but there's a certain satisfaction in being able to sneak right under a killer's nose. Starting to enjoy Distortion with how many folks run BBQ & Chilli.

  • Gonna cross my fingers. I have a couple of people I'd like to play with, but I'm primarily a PC gamer, and they're PS4 folks. We shall see. 🤞

Edit: And does anyone know when the anniversary is? Even a rough estimate.

I thought you didn't get a penalty if you DC before the match loads in?

Hm, dunno. Our issues occurred a few months before they implemented it.

Sure, they should fix their game. The solution isn't disabling the DC penalty though.

Game breaking bugs are unfortunate and it sucks if you can't play normally. However DCing is still the players very own decision. If waiting the game out won't take any longer than the potential timeout one might have accumulated then why not wait it out instead oft DCing and not being able to play for an extended period of time?

DC penalties were desperately needed and there doesn't seem to be a huge and widespread bug causing mass-DCs and therefore undeserved timeouts to my knowledge.

Your first point about DCing as you said, hinges on them actually wanting to. And if they want to rage quit, they will just suicide on hook. I will say it requires a bit more effort though and probably does help marginally. Killers also get their kills this way.

My anecdotal evidence in comparison to yours is that I see a lot of people have technical problems with this game, and crashing is a routine one. There's topics on both Reddit and Youtube in fairly good amounts, not to mention here. It also just seems to be the norm and people accept it. Not trying to dis the developer's either, I'm sure they try their best and probably have their own bosses to answer to.

I'm also not even saying I want DC penalties to go - as it stands it doesn't effect me, personally. I can see the pros and cons though.

  • I feel naked if I don't have Inner Strength or at least Iron Will.

  • @LordCyphre said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1245655#Comment_1245655

If the game'd that unplayablable why care? I wouldn't even play for long enough to stack DC penalties that high if I encountered massive gamebreaking bug after gamebreaking bug.

The solution should be them optimizing their game, not telling people they shouldn't play something they paid for. And 2 hours on Steam isn't a very long time for a refund.

  • Ehhhhhhh, I mildly agree. When my husband and I first started playing this game a few months back, we dealt with constant DC's during the load screen. Stopping his from doing it took me optimizing his PC and some Youtube videos to make this game run as smoothly as possible on a potato. Mine was literally just my controller, and that took me some fiddling to figure out. Never seen a game where if you have the controller plugged in during loading, you crash, and only on the first load screen of that playthrough. The recent patch seems to have cleared that up though.

Thankfully during this time there wasn't DC penalties. If there had been, we'd have ended up on a 24 hour timer and quit. There was just too much testing and adjustments that had to be made to make it run properly, by no fault of our own. Even the husband's potato has specs over what is suppose to be required.

Ninja Edit: And the reason I mildly agree, is DCing is a problem during games, but... Lets be real here, now people just suicide on hook if they want to rage quit.

  • In this game, no, but I've had the unfortunate experience of associating with people in other games who are know it all's. Game knowledge I can respect, but being a troll or back seat gaming just irks me. So I rarely knew these people for long, and would just drop out of their orbit.

Life is too short for irritating people.

  • She's one of my favorites to go against. Like the others said, tunneling Amanda's aren't fun, but everything else about their mechanics can be challenging & throw a wrench in things. Plus she has one of my favorite character designs. And, if all else fails, and you know death is a breath away, you can try to boop the snoot. Such a cute killer.

  • If you wanna be the gen jockey, it's the best skill to bring. Just hopefully you get someone who is willing to actually do gens with you. I tried bringing it and Better Together, which is a skill that lets people see which gen you are on. Did this for about 20 games? Never seen anyone rushing to do gens with me, and this was before the recent patch. Haven't ran Better Together since then, but have had a lot more cooperative players. Luck of the draw I guess.

As much as I love Mikey, his stun sound is the funniest, lol.

I like Ghost Face's. That sigh is just so relatable. 😆

  • I've been running Spine Chill & Head On more since this update. If hiding doesn't work, I can at least boop them on the head before taking them on a chase.

  • It looks like her bun head's face replaced that one? Weird. I hope they fix it, it's one of her best heads. I wear it with one outfit often.

  • Def stacks with a med kit. I like to do a Captain Save'em build sometimes, and We'll Make It* with a medkit is insanely fast.

  • Errrrr... 40% of the time? Lol. I feel like I die more than I escape. I do play very altruistically though, and I hate leaving people behind. If NOED pops, I'll be that person running the map in a circle to find it, and try to save one hooked person. It does depend largely on my teammates. If I'm matched with other purple-red ranks I survive more often than when I get a match of random yellows. However, the closer the killer is to red rank, the more certain death seems to be.

I agree though, as long as I feel like I contributed by amassing a ton of points, I feel good about the match. Putting aside the camping/tunneling/hook farming matches that do happen with some frequency.

  • I bought it for Kate's and the charms. Admittedly tome 1 & 2 were so much better, but it's still the best bang for your buck, considering the price of cosmetics in this game.

I'd like it if we could choose which tome to unlock. I missed the first one though, so I'm biased.

  • Maybe! I didn't experience lag or anything strange though. We also had really good ping, about 32. Just seems like the game probably bugged out.

  • Alfred Hitchcock theme when?

  • Gotta say this first: Controller sensitivity being upped has changed the game for me. Love it.

Frame rate also seems better? I never had anti-aliasing off so, not too much to of a change there for me.

I don't care about God loops being removed, as I didn't use them. I don't think most people with 200 or less hours have those memorized unless they've been glued to Youtube. I can see how it might suck for those who did bother to learn them, but I can honestly say I'm glad I didn't.

Dead zones are an issue I hope they address sooner rather than later.

So I like this update over all, there's just one glaring issue.

  • @PyroGL said:

The difference between a flick and a wave is not distinct enough. If you are moving your hands at all, it means killer is nearby. Otherwise, come save.

Yeah, this is what I've been going by, and I'm sticking to it, lol.

  • I'm super happy with it. I came here just to thank the devs for fixing the sensitivity. More great skill checks at 100%, smooth rotation on the camera at 80%, it just feels good. Was even able to get my first flashlight save today.

  • I find it good to just alternate between games. I play Don't Starve Together for a while, get burned out, move over to a story RPG, finish it, maybe play another RPG or I'll be ready to play DST again. Now DBD is in that rotation, because I like this game a lot, but could easily see myself getting burned out in a couple of months.

I've tried forcing myself to play games, and that made me even more disinterested in them. Games are meant to entertain you after all, and if they aren't, then it's not fulfilling it's role.

Please don't get me started on how he literally changes ethnicity every single skin. I can't deal with Claudette and him at the same time. My heart isn't strong enough. For the longest time I thought he was Black because I saw everyone use the low cut on him. Then every time after that Ithought it was new survivor for the first month.

He always seems to morph between Asian & Latino to me. I'd like to see a male Latino survivor some day.~*

I actually like that Claudette has some cute earth tone colored outfits, but yeah if we're to look at Feng's quality of outfits, and then look back at most of the survivors, it ain't cutting it.

I also noticed they had "TikToks" for one of the media choices, for the question "Which type(s) of Dead by Daylight creator/fan content do you enjoy?" Is there actually a DbD TikTok community? LOL

GhoulBagel @ Twitch originally came from TikTok.

  • Questions about tea bagging, but nothing about dead zones. Priorities.

So, question for PC players: Does this happen a lot for you? Or is this a crazy once in a month kinda situation?

Cross Play is for Microsoft Store x Steam players, not anything else, yet.

I didn't think so, as I figured the forums would be blowing up, lol. If it ever does get enabled though, hopefully they include that feature for console users.

  • You don't have a box to tic off under settings for crossplay? PC does.

  • Yes. The streamer Monto was DDOS'ed while streaming not long ago. Best thing to do is change your username and keep your profile private. If you're streaming, cover your username with something, and the people you're playing with.

  • Have to admit, it's strange that streamer's can make monetary gain off of people playing with them that they don't know without their permission. I'm pretty sure there's nothing to be done about it though.

Streaming is a double edged sword to me. On the one hand, I enjoy watching some streamers. I know it's also free advertising for BHVR. On the other, I hate having to routinely change my name on Steam just to play one game. And I get Streamer's a lot. Some are nice, some are toxic, and their communities tend to reflect that. I've seen some communities retaliate even.

I'd go as far as to block most streamers I've been saddled with if I knew they were streaming after the game just so I wouldn't have it repeated. Doesn't do anything however. The dream would be just being able to opt out, but BHVR doesn't have control over that either.

I find it funny when they ask me to come watch them after a game too. It's like, "You see that I'm actually playing right now, right? Much more fun than watching you do what I'm currently doing."

  • I don't understand why you were banned. The Yui showed you where she was, you're the killer, it is apart of your objective to kill. If anyone deserved a ban, probably Yui. I just find the whole thing silly as Hell though to be banned over. I see toxic things happen in games a lot and I'm 90% sure no one does anything about it. If everyone starts recording and submitting that evidence, how many people would get banned? How long before they'd have to stop doing that because the numbers would be extremely high?

I mean Hell, give the guy a warning at least. Talk about strict.

  • Stays the same, and just adds the cosmetics. I did the same with Kate.

  • DBD forums are good to see what's up with how the community feels, I think. You see some pretty decent debates (or arguments) about mechanics. For more fun conversation though, I recommend Reddit. You do see a lot of it there too, but it's easy to avoid, and you'll find much more game play moments, memes, fan art, etc.

I tell you what you want, what you really really want!

So tell them what they want, what they really really want!

    (Couldn't resist.)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong; if I missed some detail as I was half paying attention, but didn't they say in sum "we'll get to dead zones when we can" in today's Q&A? It's not looking good for survivor.
