Personally I grew up with my dads Mexican side and idk I guess im not too used to seeing really defined faces like Jane has if that makes sense? Also I don't know too much on fashion in Mexico especially since all the Mexican businesswomen I've met wore pencil skirts but then again thats almost all business women I've met.
Nah idk about in person (as in, actually in Mexico, we live on the east coast US), but on television that style of suit routinely pops* up, and in fashion mags too. Like this:
As for the cheekbones, they do remind me of contour? They're extremely sharp compared to someone with natural cheek bones, unless you're David Bowie, lol.
-
Lmao. If this ever happens to me, I'll probs be the one to DC. I'd rather play and/or not burn out my graphics card. I'm pretty sure leaving things like that open and unmoving for long periods of time isn't good for your PC.

Tbh Jane is really poor Latina representation since she doesn't look all that Latina :( I do agree we need more Hispanic survivors and themes in general as well though.
I think she pulls off latina well? Specifically Mexican latina though, and it's mostly because of the clothing items available to her that she stands out that way. Those business suits are a popular style there, as well as the on the nose stuff like her traditional top. Gotta disagree about the cheekbones too, half my fam is latino and mostly have amazing cheek bones. They're El Salvadorean though.
-
I'm still pushing for a latino male survivor some day. Hope you get more Chinese stuff, too.
-
This made me snort. 😆
-
Yeah, just rude folks honestly. They get their shits and giggles by being annoying. I've been running Deliverance a lot lately, and I try to use it as soon as the killer is out of sight. I'd rather not waste my teammates time. If they're already near by though, I'd let them save me.
I've wanted to let those people die so many times, lol. Catch me on a bad day and I just might!
-
I prefer controller. To me this game just feels better with it? And since the controller update it's so much smoother. You can go under GameUserSettings in the DBD files and adjust your camera sensitivity for controller as well.
I say try both, and pick which one feels better for you.
Edit: Felt the need to add, I haven't played killer much! I'm usually some where in red ranks these days for survivor.
-
Thinking on it, reducing the grind could bring in more players. How many times have people stated they don't recommend the game to their friends based on the heavy grind? And if you're like me, you may feel locked out of one whole side of the game. I picked up this game as something for my husband and I to play because he's relatively new to video games in general. So of course, I'm going to focus on the side that lets us plays together -- survivor. I want to play killer, but the times I have, I'm perkless. It's only novel to play that way so many times.
By reducing the grind, folks who work on one side of the game first would be able to get to the other side quicker. Because over the last 4 months I've put in over 270+ hours. That's a lot of time to be locked out of one side because you want to be as efficient as possible with the other. And I don't even mind grind, I played Korean MMOs for years. However in those games, it's generally about equipment. You can still perform the same skills and most content as top geared players. In DBD, it's literally locking me out of killer content -- a massive half of the game. It makes me wonder if the huge grind is one reason we have less killers, and therefore longer cue times.
Now you could argue "Why don't you level killer and survivor some back to back?" But again I'd rather get survivor leveled as efficiently as possible. I want to be at my best when I play with my husband. I want to see how well I do with all the perks leveled. I want to mix and match perks at least in one half of the game. And again, I got this game to play with him, but I do play solo quite a bit. During those solo moments I could play killer, if I had any leveled.
I wouldn't want to eliminate too much of the grind either, though. I don't like DBD's mobile's system, I prefer the blood webs. It has made me play with a lot of random builds, because what I get on characters as I level them is random. Right now, I have to alternate between characters often for daily and tome challenges, or if I want to experiment. You learn a lot this way about skills and play styles. This keeps me interested.
Unfortunately, to be good at this game you also have to know how killer's work. Their powers, skills, and add ons. It's one thing to read them in the descriptions, it's another to see them in action, and still another to play them. Best I could do to learn was go outside of the game and watch others play them. It seems counterproductive as a company to not have players in your game learning the basics.
This turned into a bit of a ramble, but hopefully I brought something else to the conversation about why grind needs to be reduced. It would make the new player experience better, draw in more new players, and help over all with the health of the game.

Exhaustion perks seem to cause bursts of lag for me. Dead Hard, Head On, & Sprint Burst. Didn't occur often until the latest patch. I've also had to validate my game files twice due to game crashing bugs. In the first instance it replaced 4 files, because EAC was picking up Pak22 had been modified - and it wasn't by me at least. The second time, I'd crash at the loading screen and get the crash report box. It replaced 1 file. I've also ran into numerous invisible objects/barriers & been stuck.

I think the problem is (at least on XBox) that you should be able to use activate it after the killer has already started to swing or is about to hit you. However, you cannot. You need to activate it, basically, at the same time the killer starts to swing. They need to change that. Idk if its a latency issue or something more.
I also feel as though you should be able to use it whether you are injured or not.
Basically this. To make DH work, you've got to time it right as the killer is about to swing, so it's a guessing game. And if your ping is high, or lag enters the arena, then it can be hard if not impossible to make that judgement call.
I've used it a couple of times over the last few days with success, so nothing unusually wrong with it seems to be going on.
-
As a newer player, who has 4 survivors to go and 0 killers leveled -- I beg of thee BHVR. 👀💦 Do sumtin'.
Probably gonna prestige one survivor and one killer. I can't imagine doing more with this system. I still like the idea of removing tiers from perks as well. There's less than a hand full of perks people want at tier 1, and those could be reviewed to see which people use more.

Horror rick rolled. Nice.

Lets say you're rank 4, you will drop to rank 5 I believe. You will drop to the highest rank of the previous color if I remember correctly.
Rank 1-4 will drop to 5
Rank 5-8 will drop to 9
Rank 9-12 will drop to 13
Rank 13-16 will drop to 17
Ahhh makes sense. I went* 4 < 5.

I dropped one rank, where as in the past I think it was 3? Thought it was strange myself.

Just to do the math because I feel like it:
To take a character from Level 1 to 50 requires roughly around 1.750.000 Bloodpoints. Times that 3 times if you want to prestige the character, then there is a minimum of 5.250.000 Bloodpoints just to Prestige 3 Level 50 ONE CHARACTER. In total, there are currently 39 Characters for both Survivors and Killers. Meaning if you want to Prestige 3 Level 50 all of them, you need 204.570.000 Bloodpoints AT A MINIMUM (This is assuming you get are incredibly efficient with your Bloodwebs.
AND NOT ONLY THAT, if you want to get every perk in the game, you need roughly around 35.000.000 Bloodpoints. So, 1.750.000 away from the initial levelling and you still need 33.250.000 Bloodpoints to get every perk in the game on a single character. Which means you need to accumulate AT MINIMUM 1.296.750.000 Bloodpoints alongside the 204 million you need to Prestige 3 Level 50 every character in the game AND THAT IS IF YOU ARE BEING AS EFFICIENT AS POSSIBLE WITH YOUR BLOODWEB GRINDING.
Eternity is putting it mildly. Because this number can make BBQ and WGLF seem MANDATORY to some.
Leveling feels so daunting now... 👀💦

Well, there's also a chance you might not want to play with them yourself. I don't mind 2 man SWF, but I've played with so many 3 man's that went terribly. Often times one might be a streamer, who wants to show off, to their or your detriment. Sometimes they'll be overly altruistic, or prioritize their friends -- say you're about to go into second hook, their friend was just hooked, but instead of saving you who is closer, they go for the buddy. Over all, it can be very unfun for a solo survivor. Then again, sometimes it could make the game exceptionally easy. That just hasn't been my experience. Still, some people don't like it too easy.
It's anyone's guess unless they wanted to tell you the truth, and you'd never know if it was truth anywaysssssss.

If we're to believe the devs (I've seen some people make a point that maybe, just maybe, they're trying to throw us off), then Candyman. Bee's. Flying sounds in the game files. The 4 is yellow, kinda slashy, like a hook. Classic killer? Yeah, he is an oldie. Iconic? Debatable. He's more akin to The Leprechaun than Jason. If we don't get him this chapter, we probably will around the time the movie actually releases. We've seen the 3D model.
Now, my second biggest guess, is Jason. Because he's classic. He's iconic. It's an emotional milestone. If a board game company can work around the legal issues, I def believe BHVR could. I read they did it before with Scream / Ghostface.
Third guess is Pyramid Head but honestly I think this would be harder to get than Jason. Konami only cares about pachinko these days, and if you've heard of the beef between Konami and Kojima it's also a personal matter. I do think he's a classic and iconic figure in gaming, not movies, because Silent Hill really brought psychological horror to video games in a huge way. Its inspired so many. Emotional milestone? I don't know. You'd have to ask the devs how much they love Silent Hill.
Other than that, I think it's anyone's guess.
Edit: Ah and I forgot Pennywise... Who is a popular theory. Def a classic. Def iconic. Def an emotional milestone, since Stephen King has been difficult. So he's a big possibility based on that, but as far as hints go? I don't feel like we've gotten anything. No 4's shaped like Pyramid Head, no bee puns, and so on.

I was healed by "Jesus" recently. I shoulda took a screenie. I was cracking up.

Play how you want. There are things that are commonly considered to ruin fun for the other side. For instance, camping. So some killers choose not to do it at all. Some only do it at end game. And then you have those who enjoy doing it all game, for whatever reason. It's your choice if you want to play nice, and what exactly nice is. The developer's don't really care, as long as you're not hacking, holding the game hostage, or teaming up with the other side.
So essentially, the survivor's / killer's rule book is yours to write. Some people get mad your book isn't like theirs.
-
Nah. I mean, it's okay. Just not something that caught my fancy for longer than to recognize the novelty of it. Probably won't play again. To be fair though, the only game I've played on PC and also really like on mobile is Stardew Valley. It's basically a carbon copy of the original game outside of having multiplayer, and because of the graphics style it works well.

Detective Tapp is worth it even if the pig is useless. Stakeout and Detective's Hunch are some of my favorite perks.
Yep. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Pig. She's one of my favorite killers. Tapp is great though. All three of his perks are useful. Stakeout, especially since the update, works for great skill checks and to know if a killer is in your area, like a pseudo-spine chill. Detective's Hunch lets you find chests & totems with ease. Tenacity is good for crawl recovery on it's own, but paired with Unbreakable it's an easy escape from a slugger.
Because I like Pig and love Tapp's skills, I find it to be one of the better DLC's.

"gonna bee sweet"
I'm sticking to it being Candyman. These photos are reaching but I get hoping, lol. I'd prefer Pyramid Head myself, but given how Konami is I don't hold out hope. Everything just seems to point to bee dude.
-
If you wanna pull a power meme, Borrowed Time, Deliverance, and Dead Hard. I've had so much fun leveling Adam recently. I'm amazed how many killers in red ranks will walk off and leave Adam to his own devices, but when they don't, that's what the Dead Hard is for. I also take Inner Strength, but Iron Will would be just as good.

I think Pyramid Head would be iconic at least to the video game industry.
I would personally love Pyramid Head and Heather as a survivor I would pay any amount of money for that, though I doubt it will be him.
Exactly! Iconic doesn't just apply to movies. The first couple of Silent Hill games were ground breaking as far as horror went. It brought psychological horror to the forefront, and I believe inspired many other developers to follow suit with their games.

Compensating.

I'm still convinced its Candyman, but this is compelling. I'd prefer Pyramid Head.

I'd buy a skin for Dwight as 90's Ghost Face in a heart beat, just saying.
But hell yeah that would be hilarious and fun.
-
I'm not gonna pretend I'm super familiar with the Friday the 13th movies. Its probably been 20 years since I seen any of them. I can tell you though, I in no way associate Jason with traps. I haven't seen the new movies. If he was in game, I imagine brute strength would be one of his things. Perhaps kills with his bare hands. There's a ton of room for creativity though.
I liked the idea someone had about him using random weapons from lockers. Not the mori thing though, ew.
-
I play on PC with a controller. If I struggle for the full second stage, my wrist is on fire -- I have carpal tunnel. So I'm all for this annoying mechanic to scram. Not to mention, if I accidentally knock even slightly the left joystick, it kills me. Kind of hard to look around and see what others are doing, which is a lot more engaging than pressing A / X. I just don't get it, they say it's so we pay attention, but then what's the logic of us sitting and doing nothing in the first phase? Unless everyone is about to die of course, then we might try for that 4%.
It's silly and I don't truly believe it has a useful purpose.
-
Sksksksksksksk drops the bass*
But yeah I've gotten stuck a few times, ran into invisible structures, and had that hook bug you keep seeing pop up on the forums. This patch was great but implemented too early, me thinks.
-
Idk, maybe it's because I joined after demo, but demo fits the game. He's a beast, yes, but he's still humanoid in structure. Xenomorph feels more beastly and alien, it's a stretch to call him humanoid. I'm not against it, but I'd prefer to see more killers than monsters.
The "bee" pun from the tweet has me convinced it's Candyman. The 4 kind of looks like a hook slash. Skulls were also a recurring theme in the original movies at his shrines. There's even some honey that's black, though on the rarer side, and there's an imitation that's black as well -- like what oozes from the skull.
Guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.
-
I like Cheetos, and I have a friend who dubbed me the Cheeto Cult Leader. She's the leader of the Dorito Cult, and it's been a long, brutal war. So much turned to nothing but cheesy dust.
-
I assume it means camping, and I think a lot of people do. So everyone's best bet is to not do it for any other reason. Although, if you're running kindred, it's a good way to not let the killer know you are if he sits on top of you the first time.
Still, lots of people do it because they're impatient to get unhooked. I've been tempted to let people who try to unhook themselves in front of me when I'm wasting time to save them to just die. 😅
-
Excellent choice of song, considering Enrique always dies in his own videos. 😂

Clown. That smoker's cough would always let me know where he is. He's just a fat, bumbly old fella.

Perk 1
Nyquil - Reduces rate of infection, but you have a chance of randomly falling into a dream state.
Perk 2
Nasorinse - One free cleanse of infection.
Perk 3
Face Mask - 50/50 chance that when infected, you may or may not infect generators, totems, pallets, and so on.
Achoo.

They don't care. I sent an email saying that the matchmaking is problematic and they said to give feedback in forums. When I did a get the answer:do you prefere to have a fast matchmaking or do you prefere to wait 30min to find a game?
And yet, as survivor, I still have had 15 minute wait times, lol. I'm hopeful the rank update will improve things, but hiding player ranks does seem dubious. "If they can't see what rank they are, it's much harder to argue that the system is broken." That sorta thinking.

I lobby dodge my own teammates as well, haha.... especially if one of them has a key, has TTV in their name, or is a bunny Feng Min. Gotta stay away from those moris! Although I just got facecamped to death by a Bubba in red ranks, so you can't win 'em all I guess.
And I'll have you know that I play Nea with the Close Cut hairstyle, and I haven't used Urban Evasion in months, nor do I even have Self-Care unlocked for my other Survivors 😏
Yup, was about to say! I lobby dodge Twitch streamers and 3 man SWFs when I'm playing solo. I'm the bunny Feng often though. 😅
-
Anything that I don't have leveled... Which is all killers and a hand full of survivors. Gotta grind.
-
I'd have left it at "I don't talk to dead people." 😆 That's a such a good, witty response, that'll 'cause someone to flame, but can't get you in trouble. Feeding them any further is just what they want!
-
I feel like the devs have said it does and doesn't matter, lol. For instance, I seen one tell someone "Well, you seem to be in the rank you're meant to be in because of the match results."
You also have to think about moris, keys, SWF teams, solo teams, and play time -- on top of being paired with people who are greatly outside of your rank. All of these things can lead to a depip that's no fault of your own, necessarily. That goes for both sides. A SWF team can also carry one person to high ranks that might not deserve to be there.
So no, I don't think rank really matters, but if you manage to hit red or purple you're probably a good player. Especially if you're on the killer side, since it's all on you.

🤫 I use one - it’s Jeff’s Distortion and it is my absolute favorite survivor perk ever! It pretty much lets me know any aura perks or add ons the killer has (bbq, bitter murmur, nurse’s, Michael’s stalk add on etc)
Only thing is it doesn’t protect whoever you’re healing or is healing you - their auras can still be seen I think.
Yeeeeeeees, Distortion is so underrated, especially for solo's.

All this made me think of was Revolutionary Girl Utena, lol. Kudos to anyone who actually knows that show/movie.
Cars can definitely be spooky, if you look into some ghost stories about them. I just don't think it fits DBD. In fact, porcelain dolls creep me OUT, but a traditional porcelain doll wouldn't fit either. I'm thankful for that.

There's a lot of nice streamers out there, but I agree many are ######### talkers. Calling attention to yourself could go badly, 'cause some of these fans range from clique like to outright "My patron saint of DBD can do no wrong."
