In that same video, scott was saying that that was ridiculous... This is by far not the average or normal. The entire video was to prove the point of Spirit was overperforming, so using his stats that he presented to show that end...as the average chase for any killer...

He done multiple test and he didn't even use the strongest add ons. I'm also talking about if a person uses a strong killer and play optimal with it. They can always or usually expect chases to be 34 seconds or less.

Not really. While Spirit or Huntress might be able to land 2 hits back to back, simply holding W during the speed boost you get from being hit and the killer going into the hit cooldown animation will cause you to get enough distance to make the chase last abit. A 20 second chase is by far NOT the normal, and typically is only caused by the survivor running into the killer.

20 seconds chase when your are an optimal killer is normal. Obviously don't take my words but look at Scott Jund recent spirit video in which towards the end of the video he said the shortest chase was "20 seconds " and the average chase time was "34" seconds because he done multiple chase time with a surivior. Also take into consideration that Scott Jund said the person he was in a chase with is one of the best surivior in the game.

I don't need to do my math to explain why killers such as Nurse, Huntress and e.t.c can finish chase in 20 seconds or less if used correctly. The animation would also take 3 seconds and because the killers are design to hit suriviors at long distance you know what that means.

Well when you say that we have to define what a "long period of time" is. Because it's probably not what you think. Even a minute-long chase is considered a long and game losing chase for killer. Gen speed is outrageous, so when we talk about this game's time, 30 seconds is like 5 real life minutes. The killer's objective: chase survivors, except that makes them lose. See how screwed up this game is?

Long period of time would be a minute or more if you are playing against an optimal team. To keep up with their speed you must be able to end chases in 34 seconds or less if I'm being honest. That might sound easy to say, but we all know that it isn't and that some can barely be able to finish chases in a minute.

I don't disagree with the gens speed being stupidly fast especially if a surivior brings in a key and the rest have brand new parts on their tool box. That is pretty much an instant win for suriviors.

Then again you must also look at the surivior viewpoint, when a killer brings in a Mori or a broken add on. You must also look at times in which killers beat teams faster than a surivior can do gens.

The game is pretty screwed up in how they balance stuff.

While I'm not one to whine about OP survivors or any of that... For most of the cast, it takes significantly longer than 20 seconds to down a healthy survivor if they run at all. If a survivor just holds W, the chase will last longer than 20 seconds, lol.

That depends on the killer and if the killer doesn't sneak up on them.

    What do you think?

Ewww legion mains, how do you guys still exist? I thought you creatures were extinct.

Your ability allows a surivior to escape more than it can kill, how does that make sense? At least you can counter every single defence a surivior has which makes you as good as tunnelling as leatherface....that isn't a good thing.

You can end chases relatevly quickly but if you're a killer with no map pressure, you lose.

That is true and I have nothing to argue against it.

I'm just gonna say this once, if the killer manages to win quicker than 3 minutes, those survivors were simple trash, red rank I'm yet to see this happen, yes I'm SFW but we have an chosen runner, and 3 gen rushers, this person that runs can keep it up for 12 minutes average, if killer gets bored we are aware and we get ready to handle it, I can keep a chase for 6 minutes and of my group I'm the worse, spirit we can keep going infinitely, nurse, we can keep going infinitely, the rest is average 6 minutes for me 12 for my runner, worse chase is from hill Billy I average 3 minutes my runner 7 minutes, that's all the time any of us need and it's win

So if a surivior beats a killer within 400 seconds (or less), it means the killer is trash, right?

Your chase time is very long, so you should logically no be surprised when expecting gens to be done quickly.

  • @GodDamn_Angela said:

    @Zoldyar

"Gens can be done in 400 seconds if the killer does make to stop a surivior from gen rushing."

400 seconds? If only one Gen is getting done at a time, by one survivor alone, sure, but this isn't Gen Rush and is not realistic.

"If you are a killer that can end chases quickly, a game can go quicker than a surivior gen rushing."

Yes, obviously, but some Survivors are really good and if they get to a Loop they know well then they can continue it for a long time. After a certain amount of time the Killer needs to leave the chase, otherwise they are wasting time and screwing themselves.

"Furthermore, killers such as Nurse, Spirit, Demogorgon, Hibilly, Freddy, ghost face and hag are all killers that can win games even if a surivior gen rush them. This is because they can put map pressure to prevent suriviors from doing gens and can end chases quickly."

    ?

You do know what "gen rush" is right? You say these Killers can win games when gen rushed by... preventing gen rush. Sure, they can prevent it but you can't prevent something that's already happened.

It is realistic because if a killer is applying map pressure then you should be expected to have one or two surivior doing gens at a time. Also, gen rushing is when a surivior complete a gen in a fast rate. It doesn't matter how many suriviors they are.

A killer using someone like Hibiily or nurse can be expected to have a chase lasting longer than 20 seconds if used correctly. There really isn't much a surivior can do if a strong killer comes into play.

Do you understand what gen rushing is? So what if it can happens, you are saying it as if it's impossible for a killer to win. It's unrealistic to expect killers to do nothing and let a surivior do gens. Also, like I said before, it's okay for killers to win games quickly, but it isn't for suriviors? At this rate, killer mains would also join surivior mains on making a rule book for each other.

Gens can be done in 160 seconds if everyone does a different gen while someone is getting chased

Why would the killer focus for one person, for a long period of time?

  • @vossler25 said:

Gens can be done in 3 minutes flat especially when you have a good survivor for chases, and the shack of ending killer careers, I'm speaking as a survivor, 3 minute games are not fun, and I end up having to half sabotage the game to at least give killers a chance by simply not repairing even if killer is on someone else so it at least last 5 minutes and ofcourse much longer cause the killer should have hooked by then, for survivors it's always business as usual, no matter what, spirit and nurse isn't the answer cause 1) they getting nerfed but 2) they are easy to counter if you aren't stupid, their own power is what causes them to lose if a survivor knows how and it really is easy and nurse has been entirely run into the ground now, please, fix the god damn gens, that's all I want, I want longer games not ones that are laughable jokes, and some are asking for Mori nerfs, it's all a killer has to have a chance

TlDR: read it or move on

Gens can be done in 400 seconds if the killer doesn't try to prevent suriviors from gen rushing.

If you are a killer that can end chases quickly, a game can go quicker than a surivior gen rushing.

Moreover, Nurse hasn't been ruined at all. The only problem is the dedicated servers which creates bugs using nurse. Other then that, Nurse is fine if you already know how to use her.

Furthermore, killers such as Nurse, Spirit, Demogorgon, Hibilly, Freddy, ghost face and hag are all killers that can win games even if a surivior gen rush them. This is because they can put map pressure to prevent suriviors from doing gens and can end chases quickly.

Look at it like this, for a surivior to play optimal, a killer should also be playing optimital as well. For example, if a surivior can finish gens quickly, then a killer is expected to end chases quickly such as them lasting 20 seconds or less. Killers can also slug to help make a comeback and win games even if they is just one gen left. Gen time is ridiculous, but the speed in which a killer can finish game can be faster than gen time, so what does that say?

  • @horsegod386 said:

I don't understand, if any killer has some sort of "edge" over the survivor, instead of adapting and learning counter play for said killer, everyone cries for nurse, I'm a survivor main myself and while spirit is infuriating I have never once felt like she was "unfair" or "impossible to counter" maybe if everyone in the community grew a pair and learned counter-play to a killer instead of calling for nerfs because the killer isn't a basic m1 killer.

"Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell."

How can she have a 3 kill average..but..other killers with lower kill ratings according to their stats they showed us have higher kill ratings than her..so one of those is a lie..which is it though?

Maybe it's because she has always been consistent of getting 3 kills each match. For example, pewdiepie has the most subscribe YouTubers with over millions of views everyday, but you don't always see him on trending. It's the same for spirit.

According to the devs her kill rating isnt even the highest so that is quite a load of garbage..the real reason is obvious but the devs will deny it to save face , and those killers are decent but they do not have the tools at present to compete when faced with heavy opposition as much as I love them all..and based on countless matches both observed and played this is what I've come to realize

How are you going to tell the devs what the kill rate of spirit is?

"Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell."

This honestly should not be a debate if Peanits is having to say that the killer average is coming close to 4k at average.

  • @immortalls96 said:

We are at a point in this game where we were looking at some true quality changes being made to the game..but these exciting developments have been overshadowed by the seemingly lack of foresight into how certain changes have not been taken well by the community.

Nobody really minded the nurses addons getting a pass..because..they were too much..and better nurse players didnt rely on them..but then the devs held back information on their true plan until the day before the ptb..it was low..it felt like they had been intentionally lying because they knew what the reaction would be..is this their reasoning ? Who knows? But the result has not sat well with the community at all because it was too much..it feels aweful..and increases nurses difficulty while considerably maximizing her capability which was supposed to be her reward for the stress and effort involved.

Now we are at the real line in the sand..spirit is next..a killer whom is loved by many and hated by others for reasons that vary from her being "unfun" to her being "skilless"..but spirit isnt just another killer in the rister..she and nurse are the only killers considered viable enough at present to fight on equal footing to well equipped teams. And the fact both are being targeted around the same time despite the fact that survivors have a boost of some kind coming their way feels rushed, one sided, and will likely result in her either being weak..or maybe still strong but very stressful and not fun to play much like nurse is presently.

All of this is merely adding to the belief the devs are not bipartisan as they should be..because they make plenty of promises to review the killers and "update" them..but no promises of improvement to underperforming ones while the best ones get cut down with no regard for what the ones playing them have to say or how they feel..This I believe will only end badly..unless we can come to a consensus and we can start feeling like equals in the devs eyes. That is all

This is very untrue. Killers such as Hilbilly, Freddy, Huntress, hag, ghost face and Demogorgon can all beat an optimal team because they have map pressure and are capable of ending chase quickly if used correctly. Don't even get me started on add ons. I don't understand why killers say spirit and nurse are the only two because that is compelelty false.

Another thing is that you talk about buffing weak killers, but are you forgetting how they nerf insta heal? You understand how big of a role insta heal was compare to weak killers not winning, right?

Moreover your point about spirit being the only one is false. If anything, she can easily beat an optimal team from what the devs said.

"Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell"

So this just shows that many killers not only find her easier to use( otherwise she wouldn't have such a high win rate with so many killer users), but she also gives them an easy win and ruin the fun for other people. So all this optimal team excuses is worthless because it's obvious an optimal team can't withstand an optimal killers judging from her average win coming close to 4 kills now.

This was stated by Peanits at https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/102128/spirit-kills-devs-nerf/p3

I know I know, "Ugh, another newbie complaining about not being good". Here me out.

This game is severely unbalanced right now and I don't know why this hasn't be addressed yet. It seems that the game has been unbalanced for years now judging by old forums and complaints made by others. Now, yes, I'm new and I don't know all the ropes yet. I'm not here to whine over not winning. I'm here to be level-headed and provide enough proof to show that there's more to this unbalance mechanics than just being bad.

First off, all of the game's unbalance-ness is rooted in unbalanced match-making. As I've already said, I'm new. I just bought the game and played for the first time and have a total of 10 hours on the game. Before anyone clicks off because "that's definitely not enough time to be making opinions on the game mechanics!!!!", just listen. I have 10 hours on the game. Just 10. Meaning my survivor rank is currently 17 and my killer rank is 19. How is the match-making unbalanced? I've been paired up with survivors and killers who are rank 10 and up (or is it considered below?) One time I had a survivor on my team who was rank 8. I don't know if they were paired up with anyone else on my team but I doubt it because they were the last to join the match after we've all been waiting for a few minutes. I believe it was my third or fourth match where I was paired up with a rank 12 killer while I was still rank 20.

This unbalanced match-making causes a whole new slew of unbalanced problems. I've read the forums, guides, and tips from higher ranked players. I've seen the youtube gameplay videos. And I'm here to tell you that those are not helpful when you're a newbie going up against people with hundreds, if not thousands, of hours dedicated to the game. This means that no matter what I do, I'm always losing because the killers are OP against us newbie survivors who are still learning the game or the survivors are OP against us newbie killers who are too slow to get anyone.

"How about you just git gud, newbie?!" How many I supposed to git gud when I don't have a fair chance to practice against people my own skill level? The very first time I played as killer, I got paired up with a bunch of rank 12's or so (two of which were partnered I believe while the other two were separate) and they completed all the gens in like 3 minutes. I didn't even hit a single person that round let alone anyone hooked. How is that fair? How am I supposed to practice when I can't even get a chance to play properly?

Also, I've heard higher ranked players say that killers are always OP for newbies no matter what rank anyone is, the game is more balanced when you're around the 12-8 rank, and the survivors are OP when you're 7 and up. However, like I said, I've seen youtube game play videos by higher ranked people and more times than not the killer ends up getting at least 3 out of the 4 survivors. And that doesn't seem balanced to me. "Well, the survivors' role is to get killed. That's how the game works. You're not supposed to escape" <-- yes that was an actual quote made by a higher ranked player. I don't know if they were trolling or not but if they honestly believe that, then the game is even worse because no one wants to be cannon fodder. The whole point of the game is to work together and escape. What fun is the game if you're role in the group is to sacrifice yourself so only one person can escape at the end?

And another thing, the wait times for killer are INSANE! When I queue up as survivor I'm in a game like 2 minutes later. When I queue up as killer, I'm waiting for 25 minutes minutes. Yes, I do mean that literally. And it's every time too, not just a one-time thing. I've actually pulled up a timer on my phone and timed how long I've waited for a game. The shortest so far has been 18 minutes.

Bonus discussion/idea: I've had a lot of trouble with players DC. One time 2 of my teammates DC'ed after being downed once (not even hooked yet) and we still had 4 generators to complete. And then I got hooked and the killer camped me so my teammate couldn't rescue me and I ended up dying. This makes the killer definitely too OP no matter what. I don't know why the game devs haven't implemented something to counter that yet like maybe for each DC survivor, the amount of gens needed to be repaired to open the gates is reduced by 1. Or maybe each DC survivor adds a significant speed bonus to healing, cleansing, and repairing.

Long story short: this game is too unbalanced and is a waste of money. I want a refund.

If I'm being honest, in your situation, they're little things you can do because you won't understand looping and gen rushing. The match making as you said is trash and some killers would purposely make themselves low ranks in order to get "easy wins". Some suriviors would also ask friend to help put them on low ranks so that they can "bully killers" and go to up to rank.

So to put simple, ask for helps from people on the forum or lobbies you play in. They are little to no chance of you actually having fun because most killers would try ignoring how it is like for low ranks and would want every killer to be strong and easy to use such as the spirit. Obviously if you are an Xbox player I can help you because I'm a rank 3 currently. You honestly won't learn much or anything from watching videos because it's like expecting yourself to gain work experience just by watching clips of how work feels like. You need the actual experience from looping good killers and countering good suriviors to understand what fun truly feels like in this game.

It seems like this is exactly the problem, all the things you mentioned can be turned. One mindgame worked against her? Do another one next time. There's no rulebook to win 100% everytime as survivor against spirit. And it's not meant to be there, despite it's existence for most killers.

Every killer, that counter wasn't basic looping got nerfed or will receive a nerf. Old Nurse, Spirit, old Legion. I really don't want to assume things here, but i really want to assume that many people don't wanna adapt.

One last thing for ya, you realizing, that every game, that's not a 4k, is a blackpip? Let me repeat: "every game, that's not a 4k, is a blackpip".

There's no mind game against her. You expect a surivior to mind game someone they can't see or tell what they are doing?

All the ones that did get nerf, still are capable of countering loops.

That's actually untrue because Peanits said that their aim is for killers to get 2 kills and suriviors to get 2 escapes at average. So to put it simple, people that get back pip is just the system fault or mistake. They should truly get pip or neutral.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

Some people considered it "unfun" to play against her, now she's getting nerfed. So many dcs against her, she's clearly overperforming boiiis.

1.) By slow vaulting back, you leave yourself in the open for the killer to hit you. So let's say you manage to do that once, what exactly is allowing you to do It again? Unless the killer is brainless, this strategy will rarely ever work because you won't be the first person who has tried that against an experience spirit player.

Walking in the opposite direction isn't counterplay because you won't know if she is phasing or not. Thus meaning the killer would know your direction if she isn't phasing because they can "fake phase". Let's say you do walk another direction, what's stopping the killer from unphasing from your last previous place? Obviously because you are walking you won't make that much of a distance against her.

Leading your scratch to another direction means you will have to go that direction. So the killer would most likely bump into you if you tried doing that or hear your character's voice. Not only that you won't know how close or far the spirit user is meaning you could get hit before that even works. So once again you are guessing.

Those aren't mind game, it is still you guessing and hoping she would fall for tricks that most likely have happened most of the time. A killer can easily counter these idea because there is alot of perks design to locate suriviors for all killers. The only time this would work is against an inexperience killer which they would learn from and be able to counter it if someone else tries that against them.

Moreover, you talk about using your brain, but what's stopping the killer from using their brain?

2.) Spine chill doesn't help during a chase because the killer would be looking at you before she is even phasing. Spine chill also doesn't tell you the direction or distance of the killer so you are still unable to know what the killer is doing. The only time is is usually useful is against gen grab spirit or sleath killers.

3.) You understand that spirit is gaining an average of 3 killers or more each game. Let me repeat an "average of 3 kills each game". It isn't as if one or two people are, most people are managing to do that. To be able to do better than the nurse, says alot.

    @sorrowen said:

I'll agree prayer beads is a busted as hell add on but I don't think Spirit needs nerfs beyond that. But the again bhvr loves doing $hit no one asked for or wanted like those nurse changes again her add on's needed changing but base kit.

Balancing based on "fun" will also eventually lead too no fun being had by either side which will crater the playerbase even more.

"Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell."

This was stated by Peanits himself that the killer is doing too well. Another thing is that if alot of people are dcing from the game, it means alot of people arent having fun.

Kills also don't relate to dc because they have different symbols and would add up to the killer's score. So it is logical to assume they are talking about kills because that even said so.

3.) It is still a 50/50 because you are hoping the killer would fall for your trick. Also you having a fun time doesn't speak for the majority who are not having a fun time. It also doesn't show that your ideas of counter play is constantly working because she is still trying at average 3 kills if not more each game. So your point aren't solving the true problem of the spirit.

Spirit isn't the first killer that looping doesn't work against. Nurse was a thing for over 2 years which you couldn't loop against. A good Hibiily was also a thing because if used correctly he can hit you from a stupid angle. Spirit not being able to loop isn't the main problem, it was the killer not having a reliable counter play.

In conclusion, spirit's power shouldn't be nerf. However, have more disadvantage such as suriviors being able to have some clues of where she is. Obviously her add ons are very questionable because some add ons allows her to phase over 5 times in a few seconds. There is another which we shall never discuss about because it's broken.

Would you rather him be another Low Tier killer?

Plus it makes sense he could do most of those things. The Dream World is his world. Manipulating the things around him is his thing. Having the ability to go from gen to gen sounds like something he could actually do.

Can we stop calling killers "boring"? Because I'm bored having to face Exhaustion perks.

I never said anything about rather having him as a low tier killer. What I'm saying is that he isn't really "fun" to go against. This has nothing to do with him being strong which i tbought i made it clear from my introduction.

I never said his dream world was the main problem. I'm saying the number of things he can do is the problem which is what makes him unfun.

Would you rather have me call him op than boring? At least exhausted perks doesn't come with the surivior being capable of doing gens plus looping the killer around at the same time which is pretty much what Freddy can do. He can slow the game down with add ons, prevent all loops (If dream snares are used correctly. I don't think it's a bad thing he can end loops, but the number of things he can do is annoying), slow the game down, teleport, become invisible, no heart beat, ignores borrowed time and e.t.c.

I also wanted to make it clear that by removing the number of things he can do and buff the ones that have not been remove would probabaly make him more fun to play against. Freddy is pretty much a killer that can do almost everything any other killers or perks can do.

  • @Lost_in_the_Fog said:

So for the last several days almost every time I play Freddy I have had survivors DC either as soon as they see who the killer is or immediately after being downed the first time. Is this seriously how the survivor community reacts to a killer being reworked? Oh this killer is more powerful now so I'm not even going to attempt to put up a fight.

I follow the "survivor rules" and don't tunnel or camp to give people a chance. Freddy is so much fun to play not to mention one of my favorite horror icons. Now it's such a gamble if I'll even get to play a decent match with him. I hope the devs are paying attention to this stuff.

It not as if Freddy is op, but he is boring to play against. Freddy can literally do what every killer does to the point where you asked, what is the point playing?

He has map pressure by being able to teleport to gens.

He has snare portals (whatever they are called) to stop pretty much all loops or fast vault (If you are a smart killer).

He also has dream pallet which becomes very strong during late game where most pallets are gone and you can used that to trick suriviors (granted the killer can't dream snares with this add on).

He can turn invisible at a certain distance.

He can slow down gen speed when in just dream world and can use ruin with other perks to slow the game down. So you can understand how boring it is being on a gen doing one thing for over 100 seconds. Granted this is also with an add on.

When a surivior is in his dream world. The dream portal would usually spawn very far away which makes it a long journey. While in the dream world a lot of perks such as borrowed time becomes useless.

His lunge attack can be quite ridiculous.

It isn't as if he needs a nerf but limit the number of powers he has in return of buffing other powers that haven't been removed.

She's only top tier if you theoritically never miss your blinks. In reality even good nurses miss, nobody is perfect. I can't tell you how many times I've lost because I was in a situation and because I didn't have 2 blinks right away, the survivor got to another LOS area, then when I finally got a perfect hit they used dead hard. What was the 3 other survivors doing? Doing gens. She's now way too hard to learn with too little reward.

You want Spirit changed so the survivor is the power role again. This is what I love about Spirit, the survivor is "not controlling" the chase. Any slight changes to her and she'll be gone from red ranks too.

The vidoe I sent was use to how a good nurse user missing and still winning. If the person was to main her you could imagine how games would look like.

And how many times would a nurse have to miss for her chase time to last longer than a minute? Not only that but for a surivior to do gen in 80 seconds? Why I'm saying this is because logically speaking if u r a good nurse. There should be no reason for you not to win games.

Nurse has the ability to ignore all defences a surivior has. I don't think people are deeping how powerful that is for a killer. If a surivior is not wasting time looping a killer, they will have an estimation of the chase lasting 20 seconds because there is no reason for it not to. The only thing a surivior can do is juke and I can understand u missing 5 times or more. But how many times do u have to miss for a surivior to not only complete all their gens but for most of them to escape? Surely from all those juking, u would understand it and counter it by putting yourself in a position where a surivior can't dodge it.

If you are a good nurse, this is how your games should be like

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XCSg4kZQvpQ

First off, a surivior cant tell if a spirit is phasing or not if they are within the heart beat which means there is no counter to her because what can a surivior tell from a killer standing still?

Secondly, to be good at spirit you need good headphones, like there really isn't much skill involve with her. To say she takes skill would be a joke because all she does need to win chase is to stand still.

Thirdly, all counters such as iron will is useless if a killer is using stridor. Spine chill won't help because you won't know the direction of where a killer is phasing to or if she is phasing.

Fourthly, by you saying a killer should be the only one controlling the chase isn't the case at all or true. Both sides can control a chase which is how the game originally function rather you like it or not. A surivior can walk up to a killer and bring them towards a loop. A killer can surprise a surivior and direct them to a place where a unsafe pallet is by blocking other route to safe pallets.

    Ignore the bottom link.

A 5 for Nurse is generous.

Nurse kept her walking speed as 'slower than Survivors', so with her shiny, new cooldown bar that only starts after Fatigue, she is literal trash in a chase.

Because whoever balanced her somehow forgot that she had quick blinking BECAUSE she had no effing movement.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is Survivor-level, Nurse is a -9999. BHVR wanted to go for -10000 but they felt it would have been too much of a nerf and held back.

And guess what? Spirit is going to be turned into a Survivor Punching Bag...I mean 'looked at' next.

Her recharge starts during her fatigue. Also, she still function like she did before. The devs simply stop the nurse from being able to instantly get two blinks back and be able to instantly catch up to a surivior. It allows a surivior more of a fair chance in a chase.

Moreover, don't forget nurse can go through walls, ignore pallets and vaults. So if u ask me her nerf isn't bad at all. The only thing u have to do is land your hits while teleporting. She is still the strongest killer, you guys are just over exaggerating her nerf.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/803888#Comment_803888

When the maximum performance level of survivors is at 10 and the nurse is at 8 and spirit is at 7, it didn't make very much sense to nerf nurse down to a 5. If spirit is even looked at I wouldn't touch red ranks with a 20 ft pole.

Nurse nerf isn't bad at all if you know how to use her. I can understand why people hate her because she is the most annoying killer to use (minus legion). However, she still function like the same so she Is still top tier if u ask me.

The nerf on spirit can't be that bad. They should just make it so a survivor knows if she is phasing and how close or far she is from the surivior. Don't u think allowing a killer that stand still and doesn't give any feedback when she is or us not using her power is broken? I won't use the word overpowered, but a killer that only needs a good headphone to be good at and doesn't give any feedback during a chase just makes it unfun to play against.

  • @KuromiStarwind said:

Really strong SWF that know what they're doing? You might get 1 of them, maybe 2. They also might all escape very easily, based off the really good survivors I used to play as her pre-nerf.

She's still great, she's just really awkward and unfun to play, and the changes to her kit, while seemingly minor, are a very big nerf to both her chase potential and her map pressure.

That depends on how often she miss and the add ons she is using.

  • @SunTzu said:

Will I be direct, now the nurse can beat a very strong SWF that has more than 3500 hours each?

That depends because strong surivior teams would get gens done quickly. So it depends on rather or not the killer can end chases quickly.

If we going by saying the nurse is a pro then the killer would get 3 or more kills. There is no reason not to because Nurse can ignore all defences. The only thing here is rather the nurse doesn't mess up her teleport or lose line of sight of the surivior she is chasing.

In conclusion, if a strong killer vs a strong surivior team then the killer would win.

  • @OmegaXII said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/803888#Comment_803888

For third one, then why the nurse is nerf if she was weaker than spirit? (I'm talking about basekit only)

Nurse base kit got nerf probabaly because of how she ignore all defences a surivior has and also had less counter play.

A surivior can juke her, but how many times can that work? How many maps are indoor than out door? It's because of that which allowed Nurse to pretty much down a surivior within 20 seconds. She has no reason not to because she can instantly catch up with them and ignore their defence. So even though Nurse required skill, does it mean every killer should be broken when a player masters them?

The nerf in my opinion didn't seem bad for those that are good at using Nurse because all they really need was just two blinks. She still function like she did before so I doubt good nurses would complain.

That being said, I play on console so I hardly encounter a good nurse and don't really get the massive complain for nerf for her. I'm just assuming from the last time I played her and knocked down three suriviors while the exit gate was opening in just 1 minutes or less. So I can understand how strong she is(Even though the surivior was bad, I was just imagining what if I was good at her).

I don't know why I type that much. To put it simple, I don't really understand why her base kit got nerf and just typing what I thought from just a few gameplay and other people's reaction. I don't really care if they buff her again because I don't encounter good nurse player that often, but when i do the game finish with just two gens being done in red rank.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

As a nurse main i tested the new nurse for about twenty games on red ranks now. I have to say that her addons (except the URs) are decent.

But the change to her basekit is even worse than i thought. Without two cooldown addons you are B-Tier now. And even with the two cooldown addons she's not as good as old base nurse due to a nerf to them from PTB to live for some reason.

Wait, that was not all. Her blinks are still bugged. Half of the time you want to blink or blink a second time and the game says just no. You go in fatigue or whiff into nothing. And dedicated servers. They still mess with he grabs and blinks. You are unable to react to survivors properly anymore, because you are ported back a bit after every blink.

My conclusion is: She is not fun to play anymore. Before the basekit nerf, she was very difficult, but rewarding, if you invest the time to learn her. Now she is extremely difficult, but not rewarding and bugged af on top of it. Revert her basekit change or fix the several bugs at least.

The nurse still function the way she has done before. The only different is the cool down which isn't a big deal because once you are out of fatigue you get to blink.

If you are good at nurse then you would hardly see a different because if u can land a hit in each blink u will stay have chases lasting less than 25 seconds. Let's say y do miss, u will still have chase lasting less than a minute. Unless you are just extremely bad at using her.

The bugs doesn't represent the devs purposely doing that. It is just a bug.

Futhermore, Nurse is still at the top tier because she has the ability to ignore all defences a surivior has. Not only that, but the only on playing against her is juking which if you r so good at using her would get used to it.

So tell me how exactly is she a b tier or worst than spirit when she can ignore all defences a surivior has while spirit can't? Just because there is a cool down doesn't mean she is bad . It just means she is more annoying to use, but it doesn't change how strong she is.

  • @Spirit_Hag said:

So im hoping this doesnt turn into too hot of a debate, but i have seen quite a few threads on how op the spirit allegedly is and how the devs say shes 'overperforming'. First off, im a bit confused as to why 'over performing' is a bad thing. You designed a killer that performs their job well and thats........bad?

Secondly, if you nerf her to bridge the gap between them and the other killers....wont we be stuck with just a bunch of 'meh' killers that wont have a good chance to perform well at red ranks? Seems to me, since people are so sick of seeing her at red ranks, that the best thing to do would be to buff other killers powers to be more viable allowing for more variety at red rank. Then you'll see less spirit and people probably wont be so harsh on her because they wont see her as often.

Lastly, i feel if you nerf her and bring her down to the other killers, wont it affect red rank queue times? With the number of viable red rank killers dwindling, i potentially see killers playing until purple rank then switching to survivor instead of playing into red rank due to the difficulty level and strong red rank swf. And after spirit, whos next? Billy? Hag? When does it end?

In conclusion, i feel like nerfing spirit may seem like it solves one problem, but could create so many more in the long run. Bring other killers to more viable levels and that seems to be the better idea, in my opinion.

    Whats yours?

We need to make things straight on what's balance and what isn't.

First off, to use Spirit doesn't take much skill at all. The spirit has multiple skills to track suriviors such as noise, scratch marks and collision. To allow a powerful killer that doesn't require much skill shouldn't be allowed because it makes the game unfair for suriviors who has been playing for a long time.

Secondly, using spirit grants killers access to win chases in Less than a minute. This is because if the killer is standing still on the pallet you are trying to loop her in. How is a surivior meant to tell if she is faking phasing or is phasing? This pretty much makes it so she has zero counter because there is nothing the surivior can do but play a guessing game and hope the spirit is terrible.

Thirdly, by the killer over performing shows how that compared to other killers such as Freddy, Nurse and Hibiily. She has been the one who done better than the rest of them. You understand what that means for a killer to be doing better than a nurse, right? It shows how easy she is to use and how easy it is to win games with her. The devs has stated in their stream that for a killer to be powerful such as a nurse it must take alot of time and skill involve. So for a killer to not only do better than a nurse, but also has a way higher number of users doing better just shows how broken she is.

Fourthly, you speak of red ranks as if killers such as Freddy, Hilbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Demogorgon and other killers that can apply map pressure can't win. I thought the surivior side was worst, but sometimes you killers like to act as if you are always kept at the bottom when the devs have clealry gave you strong killers that can win games.

Fifthly, killers and suriviors will always keep getting nerf so stop complaining when killers get a nerf as if a surivior hasn't. Obviously, the more weaker surivior have become, the more stronger a killer gets. So they have to figure out a way to balance both side carefully (somehow they fail at it most of the time. Take legion as an example).

Moreover, your whole point of people using spirit because that's the only way to win is very untrue. Muitple killers have the ability to win at red rank games. It's just that most killers don't take their time to learn how to properly use killers such as Hilbilly and choose to use an easy one like spirit.

Furthermore, to counter a spirit u have to run perks such as iron will, but how is a surivior meant to know their killer would be a spirit? Not only that, but perks such a stridor cancels iron will and juking them can only work in low ranks. Spirit has many things at hand that can make juking her almost imposible. Don't even get me started on her add ons.

If they play toxic, become toxic. U can never win unless you also become a Freddy, spirit, Hibiily, hag or Nurse main.

That doesn't make it right. If that's the case, and if it never gets balanced to a point where gens can't physically be done in 3-4 minutes, even with killer getting downs, then why would Killers stay? Our game would die.

A killer that thinks by just knocking down a surivior and not bothering focusing on the rest can never win a game regardless if they extend gen time. Obviously if you want to beat an optimal team, then u must play optimal. Hooking suriviors isn't enough, slugging is the right approach especially if u are good at tracking.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

I'm not a killer main btw, before someone toxicly says that to me immediately. This is a discussion, but I wanted to see people's thoughts on the above statement. Even vs good killers, my swf only loses once in a blue moon. It's pretty rare, usually a Nurse or Spirit too.

I feel like even if the killer is tremendously good, getting back to back downs, if survs stay split up (even solo survs), and simply stay on gens at all times, they will win even if Chase's are very short.

That is very untrue. The strongest killer such as Hilbilly, Nurse, spirit, Freddy and hag can all beat the strongest surivior. Obviously we are talking about both sides at its peak, so it would make sense to use their strongest add on, items and offering.

Regardless, hag can block areas in which survivor can't go to. This allows you as a killer to gain a free hit. Not to mention, the hag can be used to prevent loop.

Hilbilly chase time can easily last for 10 seconds. A surivior would have to make it to a pallet within 5 seconds of Hibilly readying up his chainsaw in order for them to loop him. Even then, Hibiily can make sharp turns which makes u question how it is fair.

Nurse...that's all that has to be said

Spirit...that's all that has to be said. Their names are enough to make suriviors dc within 10 seconds of a game.

Freddy has everything (literally everything). He can prevent loops, apply map pressure and can locate suriviors. There is literally no reason for a killer to struggle using Freddy because he has everything which kind of makes it boring to go up against.

Any killer that can apply map pressure and end chase quickly can beat a strong swf. Obviously, trapper, Myers, clown, ghost face and e.t.c can not beat an strong swf.

first of all... why I think the new killer is gonna be licensed (again)? Because its a one killer but no survivor and no map, it wouldnt make sense to do a original chapter but only killer, so my guess it is that we are gonna recieve a license one.

Now... Why a Jason one? Why not Pinhead? or why not chucky?

    • He is one of the most iconic and expensive licenses because of the lawsuit, so they would just get Jason but expensive af.
    • I remember one day on Morf's stream I asked if it is possible to get Jason, and @Peanits answered: "Nothing its impossible" and thats the thing, they never say a straight up NO (like they did with the jeepers creepers license)
    • Why not chucky? because he doesnt really fits in Dead By Daylight, I mean, they did a new skelleton for The Demogorgon, but he fits in the game lorewise and gameplaywise, and I think chucky desierves a own game
    • Why not Pinhead?: Lets be real, Pinhead is not THAT iconic like how is jason (maybe because the 166362 films that he has) Also, Pinhead doesnt really chase, h just use cenobites, a lot... so how they are gonna manage to do a lot of controlable characters on only one killer? I dont think they would, Im not saying they will never add Pinhead, but i feel like Jason will be first.

    Friday the 13th The game:

    • Friday the 13th the game doesnt own all jasons in the series, there is the reboot and the Freddy Vs. Jason version (Which surprisley its the same producers (Platinum Dunes) who did A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010 reboot (the license that we got in the game).
    • That game is dead, no more updates, so Dead By Daylight might buy the license.

So if we really get Jason... what version should be get?

    • I really think the 2009 version its gonna be the indicated for the game, it fits perfectly and he would bring skins (The Sackhead)

And finally... the thing everyone is gonna say; "the Trapper is Jason".

    • yeah and Hillbilly is Leatherface and we have both, same with legion and Ghostface, and the same could happen with the clown and Pennywise or Wraith and predator, So thats not really a problem, Im gonna leave a power idea that would really fit Jason from the 2009 movie.

To get more points because when a killer looks at u, u get chased point. So both u and the surivior benefit from it which is why I don't see the problem. Obviously the suru benefits slightly more because they get escape points once they leave. It is counted as the surivior successfully escaping your chase, earning them more points.

So far the only news we've had about Legion is that one track of their add ons is going to be looked at.

Their power, since the massive overwhelming nerfs they received, is mass of drawbacks, downsides and limitations that to me, leaves them feeling like their own power is more of a hinderance than a help.

    So my question is this:

Do you feel that Legion can be "fixed" with tweaks to add ons?

Do you feel that Legion can be fixed with tweaks to add ons, as well as the removal of some of the many limits to their power? (ie, allow scratch marks during frenzy, allow frenzy to down in some capacity, allow frenzy to move at a faster speed)

Or, do you feel like Feral Frenzy is so fundamentally flawed that it cannot be tweaked to be both fun/strong for the killer player without feeling unfair for the survivors, or vice versa, and their power should be rebuilt from the ground up like Freddy's was?

Buffering is base kit would be stupid because legion counters everything the surivior can do against killers. They can't hide during his frenzy, vaults and pallets are useless which is why people dc against him.

What legion deserve is a rework like Freddy because keeping the way he is now would just break the game.

My problem with the Wraith as a SURVIVOR is....he's too EASY because of his cloaking....yes hes not completely invisible but its invisible enough that when you are looking around you can't easily see him at all & when you least expect it hes right next to you ringing his bell....granted he can't hurt you when hes ringing the bell but hes close enough to you that by the time hes done ringing the bell even if you start running hes still has a major head start on you. You really have to focus on your surroundings to be able to see him cloaked add the tree's fog etc... this killer has it really simple.

When i tried him as a KILLER.....Even more easier...i could just disappear using the Trees/Walls/Fog as cover I can easily sneak up on Survivors ring my bell to appear whether they were working on engines or just walking/kneeling in the game. It was amazing to see how easily it was & I only had one perk during the times I tried him to learn about him i believe it was the bloodhound perk level 1.

EVERY SURVIVOR unless there was more than 1 together was always surprised when i appeared because they never saw me...? That's how hard it is to see this killer....even as a survivor if I am the 1st to die I SPECTATE to see how other survivors react...& I have yet to see a survivor react & move before he is seen when he is cloaked....every survivor looks shocked or runs into him as they are playing (this scenario is funny to see.)

Add the PERKS to this killer and your asking for a easier killer...I try my best when i face this killer & depending on the type of team I have i will try even harder to survive if my team is trying but if its not looking like like that...then i just tap out & get ready for the next match.

I think this killer's cloaking needs to be changed or modified in a way to make it easier on survivors and harder as a killer....

Any tips or ideas let me know....thanks.

Good joke unless you are being serious... I think u need glasses or try using the wraith without the ultra rare add ons. He is far too weak for another nerf.

Insta heals have been nerfed, and I'm not complaining. I play both sides and see the unfairness of them. But on the other hand, moris still exist. Moris are just as unfun for survivors as insta heals were to survivors. Are you guys going to take a look into them and possibly rework them?

They said in the livestream that keys, Mori and e.t.c are getting looked at when a person mentioned about the rework/nerf of offering.

Gonna go and give her the Legion treatment, eh? RIP.

Legion should have never exist tbh. He doesn't have anything that a surivior can do to counter him. So by buffing him would just break the game so they should either delete legion or rework him compelelty like Freddy.

  • Spirit is fine? Don't be ridiculous. The devs has pointed out in the stream with Nurse that killers that are powerful would only get nerf if they are too easy to play with. In other words, They are pretty much saying killers that require no skill shouldn't be strong. So because spirit has been doing way too well and that she doesn't take much skill is the reason she is getting nerf. A killer that is powerful and doesn't take much skill to learn shouldn't be powerful. It's why Nurse kept her ability to blink through objects, it's because she is hard to learn which is why she is very powerful.

    Thank you for your questions.

Communion is purely a more selfish perk by design, so yes, she can force them. However, a survivor with Communion must be injured to be able to use it. So a survivor can't just troll and do that to their fellow survivors all the time. It's risk/reward scenario. Either you let them heal you, or you take your chances that they won't be found and bite them. Perhaps having a cooldown would make sense though, since spamming isn't supposed to be what it's for.

No, they can't down a survivor into the dying state with that perk.

On further reflection, I believe Unbridled rage should be an exhaustion perk, since it extends chases, even giving you a health state back.

Well, survivors should be more human like than killers, since that keeps them relatable, but I would be interested in seeing aliens or something like that in the future for possible survivors (they'd be more human like than beings like Demo, though). There are only so many humans you can make for either side in the long run.

    Thanks for the compliments!

I see now. I still dont like the fact of Communion being able to injure a surivior without the player's consent, but i'm fine with the rest of your ideas.

There's plenty of perk names in the game files that have been unused. These include "Tough Runner", "Last Standing", "Artefact Hunter" (will rename to "Artifact Hunter", but its Artefact in the files), "Underperform" (The only one with an icon.), "In The Dark", and "Overconfidence".

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/613/2ZCJ9V1P92XJ.png

So here's a couple of ideas for how these unused perks can be used.

    Tough Runner: Survivor Perk

After cleansing a totem, gain a 7% increase in movement speed for 70/80/90 seconds.

    Last Standing: Survivor Perk

While injured, a window or pallet vault that connects with the killer will stun them. This causes the Exhaustion status for 80/70/60 seconds.

    Artifact Hunter: Survivor Perk

After looting a chest, you will be healed one health state in 30/25/20 seconds.

    Underperform: Killer Perk

The perk takes 150 seconds to charge up. When fully charged, the Killer will be able to instantly put the survivor into the Dying State and be able to kill the survivors. The perk's charges are reset when a generator is complete.

Hex: In The Dark: Killer Perk

A trapped Hex totem. The survivor who breaks this totem will suffer from the Blindness effect for rest of the match. Anyone rescued or healed by this survivor will also suffer the Blindness status. (An old idea for Hex: The Third Seal, but cool enough for a perk I guess.)

    Overconfidence: Killer Perk

Survivors doing generators will suffer from the Oblivious status effect.

The perk takes 150 seconds to charge up. When fully charged, the Killer will be able to instantly put the survivor into the Dying State and be able to kill the survivors. The perk's charges are reset when a generator is complete.

I don't think people understand how overpowered this perk is. First off, you understand that they are perks that allows the killer to slow down gens? Secondly, killers such as Legion, Nurse, Hilbilly, Spirit, Freddy, hag and Demogorgon would just make this perk even more worst because they have map pressure. This means perks such as sloppy butcher and Thanatophobia would most likely come to play. On addition to that, ruin would obviously be a perk all killers would always run. Do I need to go on?

If u call this balance then I got no words to say. I don't think people understand what noob suriviours are or understand the value of one survivor can do to determine the outcome of a game.

I'm curious to know what people think of this concept. You can see this on my art page as well (on dA, I'm Noctis-Corvus).

    Lore:

Not all survivors are human, but as long as they are willing to help others escape the trials, they might as well be. One such example of this is a little girl named Charlotte. A child with a troubled history, she had no family and desperately wanted a way out from the slog that became her life. Foster parent after foster parent couldn't handle this depressed little girl. The entity took note as she was in such pain, not just due to an isolation from others, but due to her own masochistic tendencies. After being abducted, she was transformed into a killer, known as the Vampire... but she couldn't bring herself to kill survivors because they tried to help and protect each other. She gave pain, but felt sorry for inflicting it against them after seeing the desperation in their eyes...

After refusing to do her job, the Entity decided to strip her of most of her power and make her a survivor. It eagerly awaits for her last hopes to be blotted out and her to join the roster of killers again... and it knows it will happen.

But that is unlikely to happen in the present moment, as now supported by her fellow survivors, she feels that they are her family and will do all she can to protect them... despite her new nature.

Charlotte comes with three teachable perks:

(Lvl. 30) Bloodthirsty: Not all of your enhanced senses have been stripped away from your transition from a killer to a survivor. Pools of blood are more vibrant, and when standing near them (10m or less) you can see the aura of the injured survivor within 32 meters. She gains a small TR (20m/15m/10m) and red stain when tracking another survivor. The killer cannot hear the TR or see the stain.

(Lvl. 35) Communion: When injured, you can approach a dead body or an alive survivor and, through a short animation (which will last between 2-5 seconds, but a dead body will be longer than an alive survivor), drain them of blood. This will heal her 1 health state, and injure a living survivor performed on. The alive survivor will be broken for 20/15/10 seconds.

(Lvl. 40) Unbridled Rage: When injured by another, you become furious as you wait for an opportunity to strike back. When injured, stunning the killer will give you a 10/15/20 second window to attack the killer and gain a health state back. The killer will be stunned for the duration of the animation performed (again, 2-5 second long animation).

EDIT: Picture update, meter radius for Bloodthirsty, and animation lengths added for Communion and Unbridled Rage.

There's two massive problems I have with this build.

For communion, is a survivior force into giving the other surivior her/his health state back up? Also, if not then how would a surivior prevent the other surivior from doing so? I can see this perk being a massive troll and being abused on other suriviors. Moreover, is it a time thing or can a surivior use this perk constantly? If so it could be considered op. One last thing, can a surivior do this to a surivior that is injured? So in other words, can a surivior force another surivior to go into a dying state?

For unbridled rage, is there an exhausted effect that is included on it? This is because a surivior can abuse this and use this constantly with head on. Also, when a survivor has this perk activated, is there a time limit to how long it stays active? I'm asking because what if everyone has that perk on and stun the killer. Would it be balance if a killer gets stunned for 8 seconds?

Other then that, I like your idea of new perks on a surivior. I also like your unique idea because you think outside the box of how a surivior, doesn't nesecessary have to be a human. It's just like the Demogorgon not being a human but still considered as a killer. So you also using that idea for Suriviors is pretty clever.

try being unpredictable instead of following regular looping paths, doubling back on your own scratch marks, listening for the spirits footsteps, running iron will or dance with me or even lithe if you struggle that much against her

there's plenty of ways to counter spirit, most people just aren't willing to change their own gameplay

First off, a player would have to know if they are coming against a spirit.

Secondly, a Spirit can hear a surivior very easily than a surivior hearing foot steps (she isn't like the Demogorgon or Wraith).

I don't struggle (depending on how good the spirit is), but if it's a good spirits. They use her almost to the level of a good nurse which makes all the counter play you can think of useless because they are experience with it.

I understand where u are coming from since that used to work for me when using those perks and play style. However, I then came across a good red rank Spirit which his name was ironically "ochido" and no surpise the guy acting as him was toxic as hell.

He told me that the whole juking idea won't work as the sound of survivor breathing are far too loud and that there is so many ways of using her. By simply standing still you can bait the survivor to go towards u because they won't know if you are phasing or not since u are within her heart beat. And let's say the survivor was to take his direction you would know and simply phase to them because there is no way for a surivior to tell you are phasing and let's say by the time they do hear u foot steps they will without a doubt get hit. Her movement speed is really fast especially with add ons (but we won't talk about add ons here) and her reach makes it so you will get hit regardless of if u know she is coming to u.

Obviously I thought he was over exaggerating so I asked a friend who brought spirit on the game so that I can use her. Turns out he was telling the truth, but that's in my opinion.

I rather end it here because I don't want to make it sound as if she needs a nerf. I'm simply here to drop my viewpoint of how the devs could nerf her (which judging from u guys was a dumb idea) and why she would get nerf.
