I don't feel helpless at all against Spirit. They feel helpless because they don't know what they're doing, not because of an issue with Spirit actually objectively making them helpless.

First of all when you're at full health the Spirit is completely guessing your movement entirely. So half the time you should have the advantage here.

Just one example: She's phasing after you across the field and make it to a loop. You fast vault the window, wait a couple seconds, then slow vault back over. You manipulated what she saw and heard. IE scratch marks to the window and a fast vault noise. She is going to keep going around and assume you kept going. She will assume this because most players are bad and don't know how to play against Spirit and will do just that. You mind gamed her by giving her false information and forced her to make a guess.

This is just one of many examples. There is lots of counter play if you understand what the Spirit is seeing and hearing to manipulate it.

True, but against any skilled spirit player this will probably not work especially since this is a very common thing to do against spirit.

  • We need more unique killers so killers with non-traditional chases would also be really cool. Just look at pyramid head, you can't loop him as you would another killer or he will use his shockwave and shred through you. He also has the cages of atonement which is very unique.

  • It has horror aspects to it but is more intense at times.

"faking a phase isn't a mindgame because survivors are given zero information on when you are phasing."

Because that would mean they are playing against Spirit incorrectly. Looking for information to react to as survivor is how you play against other killers.

Against Spirit you force her to react to you.

If someone is trying to react to Spirit they do not understand how to play against Spirit. You should be proactive, not reactive.

I know, but you are helpless in this situation if the spirit player knows how to play spirit and does it well. There is still no counter, only a slight delay in killing you if you vault a window or pallet. Survivors shouldn't have to feel completely helpless knowing they can't do anything, but that is what spirit does right now.

You know, I don't really go against any good Spirits, so I'm not sure how valid my opinion is. Most rank 1 Spirits I go against seem to be rank 1 from another killer and new to Spirit. So take my opinion with a grain of salt- I'd probably feel differently if I actually went against good rank 1 Spirit players with good headphones and Stridor ahaha

Anyways, I don't really mind her stand still mindgames at most loops- UNLESS she has Stridor. Stridor, in my opinion, is what makes Spirit the monster she can be.

Spirit's main counter perks are Iron Will, Spinechill, and to some degree- Fixated. Spinechill helps shut down her stand still mindgames (since you will most likely see it flicker if she isn't actually standing there as she appears to be). And Iron Will gives you a little more power to mind game her back if you are able to break line of sight once you KNOW or even just guess that she is phasing. So those two perks together are really good at countering her to some degree, and just happen to be what your local Walmart Blendette may be running regardless.

But unfortunately, Stridor completely shuts down Iron Will. In most other killers, that's whatever, I don't think it's entirely unfair to have a counter to a survivor perk. But on Spirit? It just feels like it shuts down your ability to counterplay something that can already be difficult to counterplay. Even if you come into the trial technically prepared to face Spirit, you aren't really prepared, because your perk is now completely useless against the killer who already is making the most use out of sounds out of any killer in the game.

If I were to change anything, it wouldn't really be to give the survivor more information on when she is phasing, but to perhaps lower Spirit's audio levels when she is phasing and only when she is phasing. Maybe just around 50%- that way, if the survivor didn't get lucky by bringing Iron Will, you're still hearing them. And if they did? If you have Stridor, you're also still hearing them, but at slightly lowered volume than now. Spirit would still be good, just wouldn't have completely and utterly free information on what they were doing without putting more work into listening.

Her mind games are a big part of what makes her good. The ability to hear perfectly well while phasing is what makes her TOO good, imo. Idk tho, like I said, I haven't gone against any crazy good Spirits. The most unenjoyable Spirit games have been against the ones who had Stridor, though, LMAO

Standing still and phasing or faking a phase isn't a mindgame because survivors are given zero information on when you are phasing. Moonwalking is a mindgame because the survivor can still make a good prediction or guess what the killer will do. With spirit, there are no mindgames nor counterplay unless she herself moonwalks or fake moving in one direction like other killers. What makes her good and what needs to be fixed is not allowing survivors to know when she is phasing.

That doesn’t really fix how good stridor is on her though. I do like that idea though

It is fixing the core problem with spirit which is to let survivors know when she is phasing. She will definitely be a lot more manageable, but not impossible to play now because it will be more predictions and reads rather than guessing most of the time.

Yeah actually I just don’t know how to change spirit to where stridor isn’t really good on her

Otzdarva in his community made patch said that when she phases she could show a glimpse of herself every second while phasing which sounds pretty good to me.

  • Assuming he is changed and not gutted completely then yes.

She’s lasted this long so it’s unlikely. Nurse got away with an addon nerf and spirit got the same. I just want more ways to counter her and a stridor change

Stridor isn't the problem, spirit is.

    They are pretty different actually.

  • *Blight

    Blight is a worse billy

  • It looks pretty good actually, and it is not useless as well. It looks like a very good change overall. I really like how they told us what they were doing to it before they put it in the game.

Because the killers always complained about the corn and grass on other maps, so this is the result.

Since when did killers complain about grass?

  • Keep in mind that he does disable survivor unhooking perks as well as killer ones. So he can't benefit off of BBQ or pop that well even though he can ignore bt and DS.

Your teammates should be rescuing you from the hook stealthily.

  • That is a good build, although I would recommend replacing ruin with a more reliable slowdown such as CI or pop.

  • That would still be pretty strong and come in clutch. I still have no clue on how to balance keys.

  • Because they would have to code speaking lines in the game which is something I think that the devs would not do.

  • Breakout, saboteur, MoM, and dead hard. + 3 heal med kit (purple one with gel dressing or yellow one with gel dressing and syringe)

Don't let anyone get hooked and tank some hits to because a messiah in solo queue. You probably won't get any gens done tho, but hey 3 stacks of MoM amirite?

It's not a team game. Survivor A does not win if they die but Survivor B escapes, and vice versa.

The store page for the game even mentions this.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/27FGTBFFUS0V/image.png

Naturally, you'll have a better chance at escaping if you cooperate with your fellow Survivors, but it's by no means necessary. There's nothing wrong with not taking a hook for someone if you feel that won't lead to you escaping in the end.

Perks like Sole Survivor, Technician, Left Behind, Self-Care, Inner Strength and Power Struggle all encourage a loner 'selfish' playstyle, just like how perks such as Leader, Borrowed Time, We're Gonna Live Forever, Aftercare, Solidarity and Better Together encourage teamwork and cooperation.

Survivors working together make it a team game tho, it doesn't really matter what the description of the game says.

  • It is something you just didn't notice, hag's traps have always done this flick which good hags put to use to mess up a window vault or pallet drop.

  • I would wait until after we see what they do before cheering them on

  • "Ps: i`m talking to survivor players, killer players will never understand this comment."

phew, good thing I play both sides equally.

It is being nerfed, but it is still an anti-tunnel perk which is what survivors want right? Its nerf is justified.

  • These things look pretty cool and I think it would be cool if they were in games just in general to get 5000 extra BP or something.

I said that because I main twins and its kind of difficult to land a pounce with Victor against tryhard PC players. And some of those PC players can do pretty damn good jukes too, which is surprising because i havent been juked by survivors for years on console. Makes me wish there was an option for crossplay against other console players.

So, survivors should be less maneuverable to make it easier for you to play a certain killer? Saying tryhard PC players only makes me think that they are just skillful survivors.

I have roughly 4000 hours in this game over time, I've been here since the beta. I mostly play survivor but I've been Rank 1 killer at different stages in the games life when there wasn't so many options and yes, BBQ helped me get there easily... also I mained Myers to reach Rank 1 killer and never played anyone else... I wasn't the nurse or hillbilly... I played Myers and Trapper but Trapper was highly counterable at higher levels so I just stuck with Myers for his cheap ass 1 shot downs... and that was when pallets were in abundance on most maps... now the pallets are cut in half and I find killer so stupid and boring it's not even a challenge to me anymore.

I main survivor and roughly 92% of my hours are on survivor side and yeah, it's gotten worse over time. I mean granted the game's changed drastically and survivor mains have found literal loop holes in the games design to make it easier on them. As time goes on people are deciphering more information on walls and tile formations, so there's a specific way to run a killer through them efficiently.

I'll be honest, I haven't studied this phenomenon and I doubt I ever will, I have no time for such things as I work a full time job unlike most children that play this game all day every day. So yeah you guys probably DO have more hours than me. I also don't play SWF, I always solo queue and it's a GD nightmare most games. I've been Rank 1 for about a week the past 6 months but for some unknown reason, killers are just running train on solo queues and 9/10 they're all running BBQ because it helps that much.

Every once in a while I jump in a match as Myers, mind you I'm only rank 16 because of constant resets and my lack of interest in the killer side so I just roflstomp lowbies, but BBQ plays a huge factor... I can 4K most low rank teams in less than 5 minutes, most of the time they never even get a gen off and it's all due to BBQ because the information is just there. I've taken out some SWF teams with minimal effort, and I could tell they weren't the level of rank the game said they were... they were much higher but playing at low ranks with the purpose to troll low rank inexperienced killers.

I'm just sick of every good survivor perk getting nerfed in to the ground while killers still have stealth crutch perks active giving them a huge advantage that no one seems to want to address... A bad killer with BBQ is still more effective than a good killer without it. High ranking killers run train on anyone that gets caught in BBQ's cross hair which makes it insanely unbalanced. I just feel it's time to address this issue and make the perk a point only perk and stop giving killers such a great amount of information.

I'll give you an example of another perk on the survivor side that's equally as broken, and it's Bond.... Bond is so under rated. It gives survivors SO much information but of course you guys know this already, you're pros, so I'm not going to explain why it's incredible. Bond also turns the tide of a match of a selfish survivor.... Whenever I run it, I usually have a way higher chance at making it out when playing with terrible team mates... which is generally the case 9/10 in solo queue... it's a huge advantage.

Either way whatever, argue it all you want and say it's counterable, there's other survivor perks that are technically counterable as well like DS but that got destroyed, yet again, by killers complaining that they have to keep track of who they've tunneled... LOL...

I mean it's not hard to realize someone has DS when they're tea bagging you and running in your face trying to sacrifice themselves to save someone else... but there it is... nerfed perk.

I'm just sick of having to go find a locker 10 seconds before someone gets hooked and then waste another 5 seconds sitting in a locker every GD time someone get's downed... it's bloody annoying as piss.

I highly doubt that you have 4000 hours in this game. You have been around since the beginning of the game and you think that BBQ is a crutch perk and that the aura reading needs to be removed? BBQ is a good perk that is both balanced, yet strong and one of the few meta perks that a killer can use to find survivor and also gain BP. Removing the aura reading part would make this perk an old version of WGLF and lessen the number of good perks for killers to use by one.

In low ranks, anyone can get a 4k regardless of BBQ. It is because the survivors are just really bad or inexperienced.

Have you forgotten the killer meta perks have gotten nerfed as well? Take undying for example.

The current DS is also not counterable btw. For example, "just not tunneling" a survivor is not a counter since it is in favor of the survivor. Slugging them is still not a counter since you miss out on a hook state and is countered by the survivor if they use unbreakable. Eating a DS early is also not a counter either since you can't just hook and tank a DS hit early on for many reasons (map, skill of the player, skill of the survivors, and SWF groups). DS was nerfed because it provided guaranteed protection for a full minute and a full minute in a match in DBD is a lot of time. If you have time to heal, work on a gen, unhook survivors, and do bones you are not being tunneled and the current DS allows you to keep DS during that time.

If you are sick of hiding in a locker each time someone is hooked then stop. Most people at high ranks already don't do this unless they are vulnerable and the killer won't come over to you specifically, the killer has 2 other survivors to deal wih and might not neccessarily come after you. You aren't going to die if you are shown by BBQ and it is seriously not a crutch perk. If BBQ is a crutch perk, then wouldnt bond be as well since it always reveals the auras of your team at any time you are 36 meters close to them? A killer can do just as good as they would playing without BBQ than playing without it.

Are you mad? Gideon is now quite possibly the most survivor sided map in the game. The walls limit killers patrol SIGNIFICANTLY and the maps update has left it with the highest number of good pallets in the entire game. There can be no less than 8 god pallets at any given time with the rest of them only being incredibly safe. Killers have no chance to outplay or mindgame at the tiles due to how safe they are. The game also doesn't take floors into account for hook spawns so killers can have colossal hook dead zones. The only killers who do really well there are wraith and god damn jumpscare myers.

I still think Haddonfield is worse because every house is infinite if you know what you are doing and is just a bunch of renewable windows.

Nope its an issue with EVERY killer, its not just the chase music you literally get the emblems and bp as if you are chased and it just disappears. Its super annoying and gets rid of all immersion of the match if it happens to me :/

oof that sucks to hear but is expected from a new update to the game

1, the status icons of 4x survivors : difficult to see who is injured and difficult to read the how many blood left when someone is on hook.

2, the hit box of killer seems get wider, more easy to hit survivors.

3, the view angle is weird, very inconvenient since we already get familar with the view angle before.

Wish those were my games as survivor. For me it's been quite balanced totem spawn.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1934666#Comment_1934666

I mean... there are bad spawns and there are good ones. I think it's worse on older maps that have not been reworked yet, were they may spawn in the middle of the map with a neon sign. But other than that, I don't think they are overall that easy. But then again, I don't play this game everyday to have memorized all totem spawns and I know many survivors who don't as well. But maybe those who do play this often enough will just know every secret location, so it wouldn't matter anyway, imo.

For the most part in even the graphically updated maps, totem spawns are still pretty much the same. There are 3 terrible spots, and either 2 decent ones with a really good spot.

  • @Phasmamain said:

No matter what people are going to learn totem spawns and they will be dealt with quickly. If they are hidden too well they become a nuisance to newer players.

I would like totems to be more important though. Maybe the killer powers up slightly with every totem not cleansed per gen done?

I know that people are going to learn totem spawns, but if they all had to be cleansed for the effects to go away (whatever they may or could be) then it would not be that bad. The problem with the hex totems is that once you find them it is gone in about 12 seconds. If they had a passive effect of increased movement speed while any totem is still up, it wouldn't be super powerful and still manageable.

As for what the totems do I still have no idea, but I bet there is an effect.

It isn't the end of the world, but it is pretty annoying how all of the information that we used to be able to find in one corner of our screen is now all over the place for no reason. It just looks weird and is inefficient when you want to find out what is going on. There was also quite literally, absolutely no reason to change something that didn't need to be changed.

They are still going to break something with the game just by doing anything.

The actual answer isn't anywhere near as shocking: It was originally planned for this mid-chapter, but due to time constraints, we weren't able to get it in on time. It's not cancelled or anything, though, we're hoping to squeeze it into a future update when we're able to.

Is it really that hard to change a number value for a perk?

  • @JinSime said:

That's just how totem works. Sometimes they will spawn in godly hidden places, sometimes not. It's a risk build.

You have to admit that it is incredibly stupid how totem spawns work.

  • But if they give us the info the survivors have that is more accurate, it will encourage killers to tunnel and actually do their job which is to kill survivors better (for newer players at least). It is apparently bad because the killer will feel more encouraged to get someone out of the game faster.

That was the devs' reasoning for giving killers the hook counter which is just eh.

True I forgot about this, but you will still get less useful info from it. Sure you can tell that a survivor is working on a gen, but roughly every 10 seconds it will pop up showing you what you already know which makes it just a little bit less useful when you want to know what is happening around you.

Never said it was OP, it's just a stupid crutch perk that gives killers too much info in a game where they're supposed to hunt survivors and use their senses... it's just EZ mode and unnecessary. Go play a Barbie game if you want a casual experience.

Not true at all, it is not a crutch perk. The killer is supposed to find survivors to kill them, it merely helps them do it faster with the luxury of bloodpoints. It is probably the most counterable tracking perk as well for reasons many people have described that you keep ignoring. Play one of the strongest killers in the game without any tracking perks and then come tell us it is a crutch perk.

Just how many hours do you have on this game? Probably not very many, how could you possibly know more than us, the people who have played this game for over a thousand hours and more?

You also ignored the part where I asked you to show us your gameplay of survivor to help us see your perspective of the perk. Hell, try playing killer with it and show us that gameplay as well to help us understand how the perk is a crutch since it is safe to assume you have about 500 hours or less on the game. But I know you won't do this.
