When trying to chainsaw in close quarters, get the rev to 90% then feather it. Typically, survivors will start to run circles around you and try to make you sprint off. Feather the chainsaw until they give up on 360ing you and they start to run. That's when you strike.
It is very hard to get close quarters chainsaw hits with billy, so I feel your pain
Thanks.

As annoying as it is, it is still helpful for newer nurse players to learn how to time their blinks and how it works on elevation.

idk man, maybe I am just a masochist

Punishing killers for doing their objective more than once from DS is not what is needed.

True, I eventually stopped using it after I got BBQ and realized it was holding me back

I'm not saying what your suggesting isn't a bad idea, I would just want them to be careful on how they do it. Maybe they could just add one noticeable instrument in the background and that would be fine
With the amazing soundtracks we already have, I fully trust that the devs or whoever works on the music will be able to implement this small change.

That wouldn't be bad, but it shouldn't be overdone. I took a music class where I made my own music, and overdoing it can just feel like a bombardment of noises and can damage your ears or at least five them an ear ache.
Of course, it wouldn't be a super high or loud noise, but just noticeable.

Suggestion which doesn't fix the problem 100% but helps mitigate it:
Whenever a survivor DC, instead of dropping down like a potato sack, the entity takes the corpse like it does at the end of EGC, and hatch opens only after the animation is completed
That would be cool, maybe they could have a special animation for their disgraceful actions lol. They could just disintegrate like the items from franklin's demise.

Because it's a public discussion board and I can comment to express my annoyance with posts like these. Just like you and anybody else can still make posts like these. Public discussion.
But expressing your annoyance with these posts is not going to stop them from being posted. The better option would be to just ignore them and because you didn't, I feel almost like you only wanted to comment in order to get a negative reaction out of me. I only wanted to have a little chat about spine chill.

It's not aggression. It's annoyance with this community. You started your thread by saying that you noticed the threads asking for a SC nerf, then you proceed to make another n-th clone of those. To what purpose? Same as the others.
The BBQ addition wasn't directed at you. It was meant to include an example of another perfectly fine perk that is targeted by nerf requests, only for the other role. Just to get ahead of the inevitable "entitled survivor/killer" main rebuttal.
If you are so annoyed with posts like these, why even bother commenting?

True enough but beiing revealed isn't big deal once you're close enough, besides they know you're near but don't know where. If you come from unusual angle, they might run into you.
Ghostface needs only mere seconds for a good stalk using walls and Michael gets most of his stalk during chase anyway. It's not the end of their powers if survivors know they're approaching, it just makes it a harder but still doable.
@Slashstreetboy Everyone knows Michaels T1 needs updates. It's terribly outdated which isn't spine chill's fault.
Speaking of T1 myers, I really hope they change it. I think it would be cool if it could be used as utility throughout the game instead of a hindrance in the early game.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that Spine Chill exists to thwart stealth killers ON PURPOSE?!
It's a counter. That's what they do. THAT IS LITERALLY THE POINT.
It's like calling for a nerf to bulletproof vests because they stop guns from shooting people in the chest.
If you read some of the comments on here you would understand that we understand what spine chill is for, I just think it is a bit weird and it kinda hard counters the stalking killers.

the asking for spinechill nerf, i see this forum hit new low for me
Did you even read the thread? I am not upset over this, just a little confused from a logical standpoint.
-
And just how would you fix something like this though? It would be pretty complicated if at all possible.
-
@Kebek said:
Nah that's definitely a bad idea. Spine chill is fine and it doesn't hard counter stealth killers, only soft counters them. Good stealth killer will realise that someone is using spine chill against them if they approach unseen but survivors still run away.
Next time, walking sideways or backwards, you are almost guaranteed a grab as people usually don't look around that much with spine chill. It has fair counterplay and killers who refuse to use it, should begin doing so or they'll keep mising out on their suprise attacks.
Undeteatable isn't supposed to be foolproof, having soft counters to stealh killers is ok, same soft counter is using for example DH to counter 1 of nurses blinks.
True, but what about myers and ghosty? They have to look at you to use their power. Spine chill makes this difficult.
-
@Slashstreetboy said:
If it didn´t work vs Undetectable, the perk would have no purpose whatsoever. It´s the designated counter to Undetactable.
That being said, the range is just too much. In my opinion, 24m would be more appropriate. It´s so dumb that if you want to really play around SC you can never look in the direction you´re moving towards for such a long time.
It´s also dumb that the perks range exceeds the max stalking range for Myers and Ghostface. Good luck getting a good stalk on a good Survivor running this perk.
That is really weird; that there is a survivor perk that can completely counter the stealth of any killer (ik you can just look to the side, but still).
-
@Mistikus said:

wat?
-
Yeah, NOED for killers. Not ranting about the perk, but new players do in fact use it as a crutch. I know this because I did the same when I was new to the game. They use it because they know that they will probably not kill the survivors before the endgame.
DS can kinda be used as a crutch if the player using it is new since they will most likely rely on a perk that gives them a second chance.
-
I feel like you can compare p head to a robot since he isn't really a human, but just the manifestation of guilt and desire.
The doctor is just a madman who likes torturing people, and this was before the entity amplified his traits.
-
Buff:
Trapper - His traps could be better, but they aren't
Wraith - Besides his cloak, he has nothing to help in a chase.
Wraith's legs
Myers - Maybe a little rework, he is just outdated.
-
As much as I would like it to be put in the game, it would destroy him. It would make his job so much harder when it can already be made difficult by good survivors breaking LOS constantly. If they had this as a warning then it would ruin his stealth. He currently needs a rework, but not a really in-depth one. His power is just currently outdated.

WGLF, WMI, kindred, open-handed - Just for quick heals since it is safe to assume that your team will most likely take hits and go down pretty easily. It is just fun to be very speedy with heals and extra aura info for everyone.
Quick and quiet, dance with me, iron will, lithe - To end a chase immediately if you are bad at chases, I recommend playing blendette.
Streetwise, built to last, prove thyself, resilience (with commodius toolbox with wire spool + scraps) - For maximum gen rush capability.
-
I love it and it seems like a very good change. It also doesn't destroy it completely since it still works, just differently. It is more of a high-risk high-reward perk now. I really think that this was an amazing change. I really appreciate how they showed us a work in progress and asked for feedback before making the decision final.

"discourages the killer form going after the same survivor" lul
are you playing in low ranks? every killer goes for the same person again, if he picks him up or just hit him to see if he has BT is another story.
a anti tunneling perk is what i told you already.
you can easily counter ds by just waiting infront of the slugged body, you can camp the locker if a survivor is inside it, you can take the DS since its just 5 seconds what a lot of people do, me included.
"freddy doesnt need a nerf" yep, while killers with the highest mobility need to run to the other side of the map and actually need to use their brain and move the character not to bump into something freddy needs to press one button to teleport to the other side.
a killer who has the ability to camp the hook without fearing BT, a killer who can spam the snares over and over again and bloodlust every single pallet.
Pyramid head : 115% killer who has a ranged ability and can just spam it, a killer who ignores every endgame perk, a killer who can bait the ranged ability but can immideately use his m1 with the right timing. imagine a huntress who has no speed punishment when putting her hatchets back, yeah very well done.
who are you my man? 200 hours killer main? first play both sides in every aspect then try to discuss with me.
Here I go again, I was insulted for being a noob who doesn't play both sides earlier and as a matter of fact, I do play both sides equally. I would be willing to be that I play survivor and killer better than you.
No, I am not playing in low ranks, and no not every killer goes after the same survivor most of the time. I know this because I used to be a low-rank survivor almost two years ago now. Even during rank reset it is not bad, saying that every killer does this is just a straight-up lie.
"a anti tunneling perk is what i told you already." you mean the buffed DS? I still don't understand how you think that DS is not an anti-tunnel perk. Your suggested anti-tunnel perk is just the actual DS but on steroids. Sure, it is an anti-tunnel perk, just buffed to the extreme. Maybe you just don't know what tunneling is in DBD, so let me explain it to you. Tunneling is when the killer goes after a survivor who was just unhooked recently. And DS is a perk that discourages that by punishing the killer with a 5-second stun if it happens. So in conclusion, DS is and has been an anti-tunnel perk since its buff to activate after being unhooked.
"you can easily counter ds by just waiting infront of the slugged body, you can camp the locker if a survivor is inside it, you can take the DS since its just 5 seconds what a lot of people do, me included." These are not counters to DS since the situation is still in favor of the survivor and they still have DS available if this happens again. It is in favor of the survivor because the killer misses out on a hook state. And no, you can't simply take the 5-second stun whenever. You have to have good pressure on the survivor team if you want to eat a DS which is much easier for stronger killers. Not even the best DBD killer playing as Wraith against a bunch of good players (who don't even have to be SWF) with DS can just take it out.
Freddy really doesn't need a nerf, he needs to have his power changed in a way that makes his power more skillful to use, he should be a deadly threat when you are asleep. Even now, he can be dealt with just fine even with strong perks in solo queue. People would have you believe otherwise because a lot of them just give up. You make it sound like it is impossible to win against Freddy when this is just not true. You need to stay awake whenever you can to make him weaker in a chase and when you are asleep just keep throwing pallets down early to not greed against him.
Pyramid head may be able to disable any survivor perk that has to do with unhooking (I assume you meant to speak about unhooking perks, not sure which "endgame" perks he disables), but he also does the same for killer perks which lessen his pool of perks to choose from. It takes a lot of skill to actually use his shockwave effectively and if he misses, you should be making distance on him without backing yourself into a corner where he can spam his power. His range is very limited even with addons increasing it, you can even dodge his attack relatively easily. He becomes less threatening if you can actually make distance on him and predict what he can do.
I am a longtime player who has played both sides equally in this game for the past 4+ years with almost 1800 hours on the game. I am consistently rank 1 on both sides as well (not that this matters much, just letting you know that I play this game quite a bit). The real question is who are YOU? What you are saying is ridiculous and if you were experienced enough in playing this game, you wouldn't be saying how "Freddy takes 0 skill to play and it is impossible to win against or "pyramid head is OP and needs a nerf".
If you would like to see some of my gameplay to see if I am just a "200 hours killer main" I will gladly show you some.
-
Because the survivors who used it as a crutch now have to rely on their skill.

It doesn't take any skill for a leatherface is stand in the basement and just secure half of his objective. In the case of DS, something that is supposed to be a "perk" is lost when trying to help the team because unhooking someone loses the perk.
If any more than one person ends up there, it is really their fault for not taking the hints. Survivors should always be aware of a camping bubba in the basement. At most, he should only get one kill. This is just part of core game design, DS was just a band-aid fix.
-
Things like pointing at the killer, telling the killer to come here, tbagging, and flashlight clicking are BM. I don't think healing in front of the killer in a chase is BM.

@Raz_ said:
seems like a lot people dont know what actually "tunneling" means.
DS NEVER was a anti tunneling perk, never!
here is what a anti tunneling perk is.
DS is usable 2 times (since you cant get just tunneled one time per trail right?
DS will not run out as long in a chase with a killer (since you can just chase survivor for another 60 seconds and hook him again, does that make it "not tunnerling" nope.
that is a real anti-tunnel perk and not the crap what DS currently is or will become.
once again, DS never been a anti tunnel perk, ds also was never supposed to be a anti tunnel perk, from day 1 with lauries release it was supposed to be a "time waste" perk. but thanks for complains it gets changed again.
im wondering when devs will adress, VPN, dedi servers, huge hitboxes of survivors, maps being killers sided with the amount of unsafe loops, bloodlust still in the game even tho every where a dead zone, nerf of freddy, spirit, pyramid
a actual matchmaking etc etc..
but "devs are survivor sided" "pepelaugh"
You are joking, right? You are telling me that right now, DS is not an anti-tunnel perk? You are telling me that a perk that discourages the killer from going after the same survivor is NOT an anti-tunnel perk?
Btw Freddy doesn't need a nerf. What he needs is just to have some sort of skill to his power. If you are awake, Freddy has no chase potential. Pyramid head is also not OP and doesn't need a nerf, maybe git gud?
-
M&A, sloppy boogers, STBLF, and nurses calling. Addons - dead rabbit + (any addon you want). The 4 meter terror radius when not in a chase can let you sneak up to survivors healing or doing gens with very little warning, the sloppy will slow their heals making them easier targets, STBFL just helps you catch up to them faster.
You can also have thrilling, STBFL, bamboozle, and pop for finding survivors and slowing gens while being powerful in a chase especially in tier 3.
-
"Hey lukaace, how are you doing? Actually, nvm idgaf. Maybe if you were better at the game you wouldn't need to use DS. Git gud"
-
*Remove Haddonfield
-
It would require much more skill to sneak in and rescue them successfully. BT would help as well. I feel like the killer should be rewarded for hooking more than one person in the basement since it is unique and very useful if you need to make a comeback.
-
It is ez mode when the survivors are mediocre, it is a different story when against very skilled players. It is definitely his strongest addon, but manageable if you are a good survivor player.
-
Technically though, it is the devs fault because tunneling has been a problem since the game was still somewhat new but they decided to use a perk as a band-aid fix.

Oh Shrek Here we go again...
Your exemple is realy dumb because it dosen't matter If the survivor have Ds or not this Match will end in a 4k, so why Nerf Ds?
Well you don't Play survivor, If you would then you know how often now a survivor get undeservd hits from the Killer so how is that fair?
Wait you say that Ds right now have No counterplay?! Jeezus are you Rank 15?
BNP and instaheals are very rare add ons that cost much Points so shouldn't they be strong like Killer ones? Oh I know because it's uNfUn for the kiLler.
BL was not that strong but funny, but again Killer say it's uNfUn pls Nerf!!
It's funny to see that Killer want to play against survivor with "Skill" but playing Things that dosen't need any Skill.
I Hope I diden't destroy your dream world too much...
The situation in my example does not always end in a 4k, I have played several killer matches where this has happened and I still have a few survivors escape.
I do play survivor, actually. I would be willing to bet I play survivor better than you. I can even record and show you some of my games I have if you would like and yes, I am well aware of the terrible latency problems that have only been around for the past 4+ years since I am a longtime player with almost 1800 hours on this game. It is so bad that I as a killer can even tell that I should not have gotten a few hits.
I am actually rank one on both killer and survivor consistently (not that it means much). There is no counterplay to the current DS btw, if you say otherwise it would have been very helpful to list some things you can do to counter it. In fact, please respond with a list of counterplay to the current DS.
Just because the BNPs and instaheals costed a little more than other addons does not mean in the slightest that they were fair. Even though they costed more, you could ask around the forums and I guarantee you that you will find a few people with over 50 or even 100 BNPs or styptic agents. They are incredibly easy to get and stock up.
BL was incredibly strong on maps with elevation, what are you talking about? I don't think you saw how it was for killers against survivors on Haddonfield with BL. Let me tell you, it wasn't pleasant. Survivors would even intentionally send killers to that map making it impossible for the killer to win, even with bamboozle since multiple windows are open and all can be used as an infinite.
"It's funny to see that Killer want to play against survivor with "Skill" but playing Things that doesn't need any Skill." Could you rephrase this comment please because I am unsure what you are trying to say in this sentence? Assuming I read it correctly, you are saying that it now takes little skill to play killer, but that doesn't make sense because it seems to imply that instaheals and BNPs DID in fact take skill to use which is ridiculous.
And no, you didn't exactly "destroy my dream world". Still waiting on your response.

Like I said, there will be people against it the same way that there's always people against anything that the devs come up with. The devs could announce an easier grind and some people would be like "but I like the current grind because it's tougher and it feels like you actually earned it" or whatever BS like that.
The general consensus about the DS change has been positive. It's the first time I see most killers and survivors agree about anything on these forums, well except maybe for the universal disliking the new UI.
And both killers and survs are even hyping the OoO proposed change!
True, and the OoO change was also amazing.

I've been on the forums practically all day since yesterday when the change was announced and 99% of the posts have been praise to the change, plus a lot of hype for the OoO proposed changes. Coming from both killer and surv mains. The very few complaints I observed came from survivors who didn't understand how the "healing" part of the change works, they thought that if a fellow survivor tapped to heal them for 1 sec DS would be gone. But when it was clarified to them that it does not work like this, they were ok with it.
If anything, there will always be people who complain, but I find it odd to make a post like all survs are complaining when most of them (us? Idk bc I play both roles) are okay with the nerf??? Unless this post was made because of the survs attitude in other social media, since someone pointed out that on Twitter there are a lot of survs complaining, which does not come as a surprise to me since the Twitter folk are....... let's just say they are very particular about how game balance works, lmao.
The forum posts themselves may be mostly positive, but some of the comments in the threads are very clearly against the changes.

Ormond is killer-sided? It feels 100% survivor-sided to me.
Autohaven maps tend towards killer-sided. Especially after the recent updates, with only BloodLodge maybe being survivor-sided. Azrael's Rest is 100% killer-sided now.
Anyway, the evolution of this game has been interesting tos ay the least. I don't understand why there are less killers playing today. Or perhaps the number of killers hasn't changed; it's just that the game got more popular, and the new players are mostly survivor players. The game got a huge boost in playerbase last year and that's just going by Steam numbers. Playerbase doubled in 2020 compared to 2019 more or less on Steam, I'm sure PS4/Xbox numbers are similar.
Strictly speaking I think both DS and OOO needed nerfs/changed. It's for the good of the game. But the numbers and the balance of the playerbase just defy expectations.
I actually don't really know. The maps are definitely more manageable than before though. Survivors can still win pretty easily if they are efficient and because the map is so big a lot of killers still have quite a bit of trouble.
