  • Yupp - encountered a hacker yesterday, too.

Had unlimited Sprint Burst (his equipped exhaustion perk was Dead Hard) and unlimited We'll Make It (no healing perks and item was a purple flashlight).

BHVR really needs to contact a proper anti cheat dev. Easy Anti Cheat just doesn't cut it apparently.

  • Is MMR still on ? I've heard they turned it off a few days ago.

Yeah zombies seem to get stuck there all the time.

Hopefully the devs take a look at zombie pathing.

  • Currently enjoying Nemesis even though I found him extremely boring on release as he has none of the famous weapons.

Having zombies on the map that occasionally assist me during a chase or reveal a survivor's location has a very calming effect on me. If only they didn't get stuck everywhere.

Their ai, base movement speed and detection radius could be a little better. Hopefully the devs do something in this regard at some point. They really get stuck a lot!

Other than that he's just so much fun to play for me at the moment I pretty much only play him now regardless of how the games go.

I have to admit I've started running a slowdown build on him, though because survivors basically have 3 health states and many of them keep holding W after every hit - so even if I hit every attack the chases are way too long to get a lot of hooks without slowdown.

  • Noticed the increase in low skill killers that camp/tunnel/slug at 5 gens, too. Particularly Blight and Nurse players in my most recent experience. They really want to full man slug, 1-hook or tunnel at the start of a match as if there was a million dollars on the line.

Made me stop playing survivor. As killer I keep getting a mixed bag. Some matches are literally over in 3 minutes if I face boring survivors who just want to speedrun and do gens even while injured even though I refuse to camp/tunnel/slug giving them enough time to play a fun match - other matches are long, fun and interactive if people use the time I give to actually interact with each other (via healing for instance) and do totems, chests etc.

I go out of my way to split hooks as much as possible so everyone gets a chance to actually play the game.

Some people start meme-ing with me if they notice I don't go full tryhard so I usually end up just collecting 2 hooks on everyone (without farming. I want legit chases afterall) and letting them (or at least some of them) go afterwards.

Chases are the fun part so I want to have as many of them as possible. Couldn't care less about kills.

Just got nearly maxed out points with 1 kill and a pip as well. Me and the remaining survivors bullied a zombie at the gate then they left and we all had a good time.

Meanwhile there's killers going for mighty impressive 1-hook kills at 5 gens like they gained anything from it.

  • @PanicSquid said:

Dude, I had a 0 hook, sub 7000 BP match tonight. I've decided to forgo most meta perks and generally only use low rarity add-ons. You just gotta roll with the punches.

That's rough . What killer did you play ?

  • My killer queues take around 3 minutes. I usually spend bloodpoints, look at the perks I have on the killer I'm gonna play and wonder if I'll face "fun" survivors or just a group of wannabe e-sports players that will try to get out of the match ASAP even though I do anything I can to make the match fun for me and others by not tunneling/camping (not even proxy)/slugging etc.

Had a David tbag me earlier today even though I played completely fair and without slowdown on Haddonfield.

Best thing was I didn't even see him throughout the match. He quite literally only repaired gens, didn't touch a single totem (based on how fast the gens went), didn't open a single chest, didn't get into a single chase with me but still acted like he just beat the scummiest camp/tunnel/slug/4slowdown perks killer in modern history.

Well, he probably got camped/tunneled/slugged by some Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer Blight 1 match later since that's what most survivor matches look like now lol.

Maybe I should run some regression perks so I can at least get a chase with everyone in. Kinda lame if people escape without a single chase.

  • Banning hackers is fighting the symptoms. You can do it but it is not a solution.

What DBD needs is a proper anti cheat that gets updated regularly.

ah…so I should just stop winning. I should just lose every game. What a joke. You’re supposed to try to win.

You only think in extremes, don't you?

I do try to win and in fact I still do win more often than not (despite refusing to camp/tunnel/slug with 4 slowdowns on a top tier killer like most wannabe tourney killers).

What I'm saying is the game is more enjoyable when you just take what you get without sweating for it.

If it happens to be a 4k even though I didn't camp/tunnel/slug fine why not. If it's a 0k with many hooks that's fine too.

At the end of the day I don't feel like any match was a waste of time with that mentality but you do you.

  • If you stopped squeezing out every kill you can somehow get you would get more fun survivors, too.

If I camped/tunneled/slugged with 4 slowdown perks I too could 4k as usual. But why would I do that? It's not fun for me, it's not fun for survivors and it pushes my MMR to the limit resulting in even more boring matches.

There is just no point in sweating your arse off. The gameplay is what makes the game fun so I focus on that part and get the 4k mentality out of the room.

Then again I understand if others can't enjoy the game unless they kill everyone. It took me 5000 hours in this game to get rid of my wannabe-tourney mindset so perhaps it just takes a while for others to overcome that mindset as well.

  • I'm having more fun as killer than ever before. Finally survivors that understand how to loop and realize when I don't tryhard and thus often mess around with me.

I've come across so many polite players today who sacrificed their items at the gate and even had 2 survivors sacrifice themselves to the Entity because we all had a good time and shared a funny moment.

I played Nemesis and both of my zombies got stuck on top of a steam pipe in Midwich hugging each other.

One of the survivors managed to jump on top of them and got double-hit (instadowned) mid-air. It was glorious !

I recorded it, too. One of the best moments I've ever had.

People just need to stop sweating for and play the game for what makes DBD unique in the first place - the gameplay.

    Boy, I wonder why?

Perhaps it could be the BBQ and party streamers?

    /S

Even without said stuff I was at nearly 31k points. You rarely get that as survivor. Meanwhile as killer all you need is a 2k with lots of chases and hooks.

  • Just had a 2k with 100k bloodpoints (BBQ+Bloody Party Streamers). Seems rewarding enough.

  • I disagree with a few placements.

Blight is simple. Only on console I can see him being difficult to play as his entire gameplay consists of rapid turning after bouncing off of stuff which is probably fairly hard to do on joysticks as opposed to M+K.

Other than that there's no depth to his power. Sure you slide off of things here and there but that doesn't make his power complicated or hard to use but rather inconsistent depending on the map.

Huntress would be difficult to play if it wasn't for her whale sized hitboxes. She was the 2nd killer I mained back in the day before Bubba was released. That was on XBOX One with incredibly terrible FPS (it didn't stutter and freeze back then if I remember correctly but the fps was generally very low in 2018 because grass and stuff had way higher resolution). Even then I found her easy and strong - and thus enjoyable to play.

I only played her once since I switched to Series X and got kinda bored of how simple her power is. You look at the survivor and throw. It's not like survivors can jump and dodge all over the place like in Hunters in Destiny 2 so I find Huntress quite beginner friendly to be honest.

I'm typing too much so I doubt anyone's gonna read my opinions on the other placements I disagree with.

Overall the list is ok-ish, though.

  • Let's see:

    Twin: Humans.

    Blight: Turned human.

Pyramid Head: Immortal manifestation of guilt and suffering which can either instantly kill you with his bare hands or The Great Knife.

    Mismatch.

It does affect multiple however most of these status effects are either not used, last way too short or are infinite until X.

    @LordSturm said:

The wiki says it still affects Blindness, Exhausted, Haemorrhage, and Hindered.

They removed it affecting Mangled because Mangled now always lasts until healed, so it would be meaningless for it to affect that status.

However it now persists 15 seconds when friends are out of range.

From the wiki's patch notes, the perk has only been buffed (albeit very slightly).

Oops yeah I'm wrong. I'm confused. I remember laughing about the patch notes saying Vigil no longer affecting status effects other than exhaustion but maybe I read it wrong and memorized it like that.

  • It used to reduce the effects of multiple status effects. They removed its effect on every status effect except exhaustion and didn't even increase the %-values even though the perk came into the game when exhaustion went away whilst running (and 33% more quickly whilst crouching) which is why Vigil has the low %-values in the first place.

  • This is not happening......

... is another old perk that deserves a buff. I think I've never seen anyone use it.

Knowing the devs they'll more likely nerf it like Vigil a couple patches ago haha.

There are so many outdated perks that should receive some tweaks or plain value buffs. Didn't they say they would keep updating old perks every patch?

Honestly,4 slowdown Twins are even worse.Slugging until everyone bleeds out after like 30 minutes :>

Idk,people suddenly seem to believe that MMR started some kind of tournament in which the winner gets everything they are wishing for and sweating as much as humanly possible

Haha yeah that surely doesn't sound like fun either. I almost forgot about Twins and their amazingly healthy design.

And yeah I too feel like (many [not all]) people are going nuts because of MMR. They really do act like there's something at the end of the sweaty road.

Personally I'll keep using whatever is fun, rare or gimmicky.

Yesterday I played a match as Sniper Doctor. In my entire time playing DBD I have only come across 1 single sniper Doctor as survivor so I decided to play the build myself and even though I "only got a 2k" I had an absolute blast zapping people at totems and gens from across the map.

"hook BMing campers/tunnelers/sluggers at 5 gens whilst running the strongest addons on the strongest killers and 4 slowdown perks" while I'm trying off meta stuff like AfterCare.

Agreed, really kills my mood when trying to play survivor.

Also,i've yet to face a Blight that isn't running Alchemist Ring + another strong addon with multiple slowdown perks 🙂

Honestly at this point I'm convinced those Blights are produced in a factory as they're all the same. Same perks, same addons, same *cough* playstyle, same attitude if the match is remotely close. Didn't expect myself to ever hate Blight almost as much as Nurse but here I am...

  • As killer I haven't noticed much of a difference. I've always faced survivors that played fairly well or even flawlessly. Hell, I used to face UBK (tourney team) fairly regularly for a while as I played at the same time as them and live roughly in the same region.

As survivor however I'm now almost exclusively facing:

"hook BMing campers/tunnelers/sluggers at 5 gens whilst running the strongest addons on the strongest killers and 4 slowdown perks" while I'm trying off meta stuff like AfterCare.

Skillbased MatchMaking made every skillful killer disappear.

EDIT: To be fair I've noticed people are often doing gens instead of watching the person die on the hook for 2 minutes so I guess teammates are better on average I guess ?

So yeah MMR is a success in some way.

  • As killer:

I've mained Leatherface since day 1 of his release.

Started switching between him and Pyramid Head after the release of the Silent Hill chapter as I've been a fan of the Silent Hill franchise since my childhood (used to play multiple SH games, watched the movies, read some of the lore and thus have very nostalgic bond to said franchise).

I'm now also focusing on becoming good as Nemesis as one of my all time favourite games happens to be RE4/5. Also enjoyed RE7 despite the rapid change of game design from action-horror back to pure horror. Before someone says it: I know Nemesis isn't in 4/5 or 7. I meant it as in I spent some time playing games of the franchise.

As survivor: Jeff... Because... Uhmm.. I like some of his outfits.

  • I remember when I posted salt threads. Good times.

  • It's boring and stopped being funny around 7168 years ago. But give it a try. Maybe it's your cup of tea. The only funny Bubba meme is basement chest defender imo as people often mess around with you and will go down to even touch the chest.

I remember watching Umbra play survivor against a chest defender and the entire team made it their goal to open that chest. She even DS'd him to get back to the chest. Obviously everyone died but it was one of the most hilarious chest defender Bubba matches I've ever seen.

  • @Clevite said:

I actually haven't run gen slow downs in awhile now. It removes all the stress, just playing for fun.

If survivors want a 3 minute game, no worries, next match.

And you Don't even lose a pip anymore!!

But, the ones that realize there is no tunneling, no camping, no gen slowdowns are fun matches.

    Exactly my mindset.

I'm not getting any money for getting a 4k so might as well just play for the gameplay.

I go out of my way to not tunnel, camp or slug. The only slowdown I bring is Corrupt so people don't spawn at 4 separate gens.

From there it's up to them how the game goes. If they loop well and do nothing but gens even whilst injured they'll probably all escape in 3 minutes but... At what cost?

I'm a rare killer that gives everyone multiple chases at full health without any "lame" tactics so if they want to "skip" that one match against a fair killer so be it. Not my loss.

  • *looks deeply in your eyes*

*falls in love because Clown is too hot*

    *mission failed successfully*

  • DS already got nerfed into the ground. Stop it. You can't even touch a totem, heal a teammate or yourself etc without deactivating it.

If anything it should get a buff.

No scratch marks for the duration of the stun so tunnelers (aka the only people that still get DS'd regularly) have a harder time tunneling.

  • Extremely boring build.

    I prefer synergy/fun perks.

  • Short answer: Because they can.

It doesn't matter whether you're toxic or not.

If players dominate in PVP games (doesn't matter what pvp game really) some will taunt the defeated players because that's just human nature.

Just to name 1 off-DBD example. I played Destiny 2 PVP the other day. 3 vs 3 mode.

Both of my teammates disconnected but I still wanted to give it a try against 3 other players. Obviously I got curbstomped AND tbagged, shot on the ground etc. despite not even using anything strong. No meta weapon or anything and literally 3 vs 1.

Why did they act like total scum? Because they can. Simple as that.

Dead By Daylight is no different. There are many bad winners and PVP games naturally attract all of them.

  • Untitled Image

As killer I don't give hatch anymore and I don't want pity kills if I lose.

As survivor I don't give killers a free kill and I don't want hatch.

  • A skillful survivor:

    - can run the killer for around 1 minute while injured and without an exhaustion perk and without pre-dropping everything in sight unless the killer's power forces them to.

    - does gens at all times outside of chases.

    - isn't afraid to do gens while injured.

    - knows how all the killer powers work and their limitations and thus understands how to counter all counterable powers.

    - knows how to chain tiles.

    - doesn't listen to music while repairing gens. I see survivors get hit/grabbed/downed on gens regularly even though most killers are loud as hell even if they run Tinkerer. And it's not because they want to trade for the gen as most of the time it's not "that close".

It's (more likely) because they listen to music, play without headphones or just don't pay attention to the game.

    - splits up on the gates to deny the killer a potential 4 man NOED slug.

    - doesn't care about hatch too much as it may hurt the team.

    - doesn't rush to the hook as soon as someone gets downed and instead stays on the gen until they can tell whether the killer is camping or not.

    - understands when there's nothing to loop and thus tries to delay the down by going around whatever they can find as tightly as possible to buy the team a couple more seconds instead of trying to cringe-60.

    - always tries to remember where everyone was so they can roughly tell where the killer is, too.

    - can evaluate if they have enough distance to chain tiles and thus don't just camp any strong pallet.

    - analyzes the killer's addons and appropriately adjusts their gameplay to said addons.

    - analyzes the killer's perks and appropriately adjust their gameplay to said perks.

    - tries to split the gens to deny a 3-gen.

    - memorizes pallet spawn locations, knows the difference between strong and weak pallets and understands when to drop weak pallets in chase correctly.

    - doesn't panic drop pallets when the killer is obviously within hit range.

Not sure if I forgot something.

There have been complaints by other forum members about next gen performance in the large optimization thread.

Are there clips of performance issues on next gen ?

My gf plays on Series S and I play on Series X. Both of us haven't experienced any fps drops/freezes on next gen.

I remember just how terrible it was playing DBD on my old XBOX One - it even made me quit the game (until I luckily found a Series X in my local store) after 5000 hours and now I barely play DBD anymore even though my Series X can handle it perfectly (I'm still kinda disappointed of the devs not gonna lie) still - I have yet to see a clip of someone experiencing performance issues on a next gen console.

It's just hard to imagine because some fast paced high graphics games with tons of effects can even run at 120 fps (Destiny 2 to name a sample) on next gen.

Not trying to say anyone's lying or anything. Just wondering if there's clips. Shouldn't be difficult to post 1 short clip of a fps freeze since they usually happen for every status effect in DBD.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Killers would be way too oppressive. Some Gens spawn way too close to each other for that.

E.g. I played a game on Hawkins yesterday - there were two Gens in one of the long rooms, where you can go up. Updstairs there were two 1-person gens. If the Survivors would need to complete 6 Gens, a Killer could just stand in the middle of this room and would win the game.

Not only would it bump up killrates even more but killers would end up complaining about having even less control at the start of a match because that 1 additional generator is one more generator they have to patrol and check at the start of a match.

As a result killer gameplay would still feel... "sTrEsSfUl"

  • You described it perfectly.

  • Because Me playing with my gf is the same as a 4-man-SWF team. Gotcha.

Besides this isn't a SWF benefit.

All people can individually analyze other players based on how long the chases take, the perks they use etc.

It really doesn't take a SWF team to understand you're facing an insidious camping basement Bubba. It only takes a few functional brain cells.

  • Quote: "and ofc that my team mates are dumb and gave him another free kill at the end."

    That's the issue right there.

    Terrible decision making.

Yesterday my gf wanted to play a few matches so I joined her and the first thing we got was a Pyramid Head with Ruin, Undying, Surveillance, I'm All Ears.

As soon as I tested for Ruin at the start of the match I told her it's a bad killer (because let's be real - bad killer players always run slowdown on strong killers. I don't even run slowdown on Bubba and can't remember the last time I lost).

I was the first one to get chased and surprise surprise all the Pyramid Head did was try and zone out windows and otherwise miss 100% of the shots he actually took despite I'm All Ears (which is basically turning his power into ez mode). (it was a P3 Pyramid, too)

After running him for 2 gens he left me so I said:

"if someone else gets hooked stay on the gens - he will camp to 4k via trade hooks and tunneling/slugging"

And surprise surprise the first person he hooked got camped for the entire 2 minutes. Good thing I always bring Prove Thyself so we actually had enough time to do the gens and the gate.

Long story short: We knew it was a terrible killer so we decided not to hook rush and the guy on the hook was a good teammate and didn't even try to unhook themselves giving us enough time and allowing 3 of us to escape and send the killer home with 9k bloodpoints + depip.

People need to analyze players and react appropriately if they want to punish them. A basement Bubba is more than obvious so your teammate could have been smarter really.

Here's the post game result of the Pyramid Head game by the way (names censored for obvious reasons):

    IMG_20210827_153454611~2.jpg

  • Why would it be bannable to defend your property ?

  • Any killer could be S-tier. It all comes down to how you limit their powers.

Imagine Doctor but without a cooldown on his static blast. Even the best SWF tournament teams in the world wouldn't get a single gen done.

  • He's okay. He can shut down loops unless elevation comes into play and his trails and cages allow for strategic plays.

However even if you spend your time mastering him don't expect to beat a full team of smart survivors because although he's good in the 1 v 1 he lacks what most killers lack which is:

    - Map pressure

    - chase mobility (holding forward and skipping loops may cost you the game if you commit to those chases) whereas other chasers like Spirit, Nurse, Blight etc. don't give a damn about holding W.

    - stealth (you can hear him extremely well and he emits so many sounds that warn survivors about everything he does. If you chase someone everyone will know you're in chase when you take the first shot even if you miss because of the global sound so gens may go faster than against other killers as even scared survivors are always informed about your actions)

    etc.

Also his power is not reliable at times due to the shockwave's built-in delay.

That being said he is a fairly strong chase killer but just don't expect to win against all strong teams especially if the map has a lot of elevations limiting your power.

  • Now that would be a new balance issue haha.

Pyramid unplayable. Too thicc to focus on the gameplay.

    @MrDardon said:

That would ruin the point of Trail of Torment, because he would be dummy thicc and the claps of his ass cheeks would give away his position even while undetectable.

Maybe the clapping sound should be global so he gets a new passive effect.

People may be unable to focus on gens due to the global clapping similar to Wraith's bone clapper addon.

Would be more useful than his purple addons. 🤓

  • @MrDardon said:

But it seems that his rear might still be to flat. People will stop first once his rear reaches Jane level.

Let's be real people would only be satisfied if you could hear his cheeks clapping inside his terror/clapping radius

  • The community will stop joking about "I came" the same day they stop lusting for Pyramid Head's butt I'm afraid

  • I'm not familiar with the phrase "lost in the winds" but if it means as much as "gone" I'm still here albeit mostly inactive and really appreciate your kindness! ❤️

  • If you play solo never expect to escape even if you have 1 million hours in the game. If killers really want to win they can always just bring a top tier killer with every slowdown in the world and then slug, camp and tunnel which is an automatic win in easily most of the matches against 4 solo survivors.

So if you can't enjoy the game unless you escape you really need to build or join a SWF (Survive With Friends) team.

A good SWF team can escape fairly consistently due to communication (you can tell each other what the killer is doing and where he is allowing for better decisions throughout the match), more motivation (solo survivors often run around like headless chickens and refuse to repair gens), possible perk synergy between team members etc.

Some killers will hate you for playing in a SWF team as it increases your chances of winning dramatically so expect a lot of salt, though.

  • @Junylar said:

Your console might be just too weak to handle all the next gen monstrosity of this game. You should probably make an upgrade. Getting a new graphics card helped me on PC long time ago.

Although you're clearly joking I just can't get over the fact that DBD runs like a total joke on PS4/XBOX1 even though some PS3/XBOX360 games had comparable or even better graphics.

People really have to remember games like Crysis 3 (played it on PS3 back then) and then look at DBD.
