you realize most of the perks are useless and only like 5-10 are meta?
There are many non-meta perks that can have a huge impact on the outcome of a match so for effective gameplay you have to know about them, too.
I often bring a non-meta perk when I play survivor as I know inexperienced killers will fall for it. Dance With Me or Deception to name a sample.
Hell, I used to run Poised+Dark Sense for a while which allowed me to escape endgame chases. So much for the meta.

I mean you make good points but again I'm talking more about what survivors and killers can physically do. Like just dropping pallets is dull at times. Why can't I drop a barrel or push something down the stairs? Stuff like that.
Also what is a Mirror Myers and what's crazy about nurse on Hawkins?
I mean that does sound interesting but the dbd devs probably think more mechanics will be costly and make the game less user friendly so they stick with adding new-ish gameplay features via perksI guess.
-
What makes the game complicated is the huge number of perks that you have to know about, the tiles and how to play them as and against every killer, killer powers and their specific weaknesses, addons and how their affect killer powers (again something you have to learn as survivor and killer) and ultimately decision making which comes down to trial and error / experience.
DBD is easily one of the most complicated "bigger" PVP games of all time despite the seemingly simple gameplay. That's why people play it for thousands of hours.
Get some new players and let them play against a mirror Myers on Lery's. They won't understand what's going on.
Get a new player and let them play Nurse on Hawkins against an experienced SWF team. They won't understand what's going on.
Now get a new player and let them play Call Of Duty multiplayer I bet you my soul they will get a couple kills on their first match even if it's a person that doesn't even usually play ANY video games because now that's a real simple game by design.

The one in dbd probably isn't either. When it comes down to it the players want jacked up PH, & the devs have yet to deliver.
You can recognize original Pyramid Head by his quad shaped pyramid.
Non-original Pyramid Head (used in movies and other Silent Hill games) always has that pointy Pyramid.

Come again? Also ass isn't enough to bring most players joy, he's missing bludging muscles & thick veins.
That's not original (SH2) Pyramid Head.

It means the next killer will be S tier

I find it quite ironic that OP is complaining about the very effect that allowed him time to get to 9 hooks, and there still being 1 gen left to do, with Myers. OP completely ignores how much gen repair progress they prevented when not actively stalking any survivors.
On this particular map , spine chill is especially beneficial to the killer as its detection cone completely ignores elevation and line of sight. As killer, you don't have to be on the same floor or even be able to get to a survivor without breaking a wall. As long as both of you are within 36m of each other, and the XZ direction of your gaze is aimed at the location of a survivor, you will cause the spine chill to activate. On the other hand, whenever the killer begins to decisively move to a particular location with a survivor, the constant need for turning in the narrow corridors found in the Meat Plant effectively "jams" spine chill's notifcation system, making it completely unreliable.
People are so used to killing all 4 survivors with a few remaining gens that they completely forget the devs want matches to end with 2 kills/2 escapes on average. (pipping would obviously have to get tweaked to allow a "good" 2k (with many total hooks) to allow pipping especially with killers that end chases rapidly)
As you mentioned op already had 2 kills @ 9 hooks and 1 remaining gen yet still complains about ok-ish survivor perks. That's ridiculous.

Wow dude I feel that on a spiritual level, really started playing less and less during the absolutely unplayable (for console) binding of kin chapter, decided to not play till I got a PS5 bc it was that bad. Anyways fast forward to just before the trickster chapter, I played alot of dbd during it, but I felt so...idk empty? I ended up slowly playing alot less.
Like I felt like soooo much time was wasted for the amount of time I out in, hiding survivors that waste sooooo much time after you kill two of them....or survivors who do NO gens while you are playing survivor...I started running whispers on every killer because it started annoying me that much.
Then don't get me started on the grind, it doesn't matter that I have about half the killers p3 all perks, Its still an outrageous grind, takes ages and it makes me feel like I have to always run WGLF/BBQ, because I simply can't give up those bp gains. So as of now I have only two perk slots, whispers to deal with the near hostage taking (idk what other word to use for it but let's not get hung up on semantics) and BBQ to make sure I'm not missing out on BP.
The bugs have been driving me up the wall more then usual like my patience has widdled away. Like the sound bugs, and the countless bugs that are on some killers.
Like don't get me wrong I'm insanely passionate about this game, but I'm like you, I feel like it's sadly not worth my time right now. And it may be silly to some people to hear, but it makes me genuinely sad, because sometimes I think to myself that I wanna play, and all I end up doing is talking myself out of it and being a little down about it.
Edit: What about you Yamaoka? What games you been playing, and what you been doing? (I'm high ground my names been changed in the forums)
Honestly it feels good to see that some people understand and even share my current take on the game.
At this point I can't even tell if I'll ever really get back into DBD actively. I used to be (overly) passionate about the game but I feel like the devs don't really care about some of the major issues on both sides (+performance) which drives me away.
As for what I'm playing at the moment I primarily play Destiny 2 but after around 1k hours I'm starting to get bored of the game already even though Destiny's PVP can be exciting, too.
Overall I miss the times of good offline games that provided you with amazing experiences (without any frustrations) for ages. Sometimes I jump on Watch Dogs 1 just for the nostalgia. Not really an ol' timer amongst games but old enough to feel nostalgia I guess. Ironically it seems to be fairly popular. I tried the online mode the other day and matchmaking was literally 1-2 minutes.
Sometimes DBD matchmaking takes longer than that lol.
-
I started playing in 2017/2018 on XB1.
Over the course of the years there were many changes I liked or disliked but what made me quit the game was the performance that got so terrible that I would consider it unplayable.
Now I got a Series X which can run the game on a steady 60fps but for some reason I don't feel like playing DBD anymore.
The long break I took made me realize how the same years old issues are still there making me lose every interest in the game.
As killer: Gens go too quickly.
Boring gameplay. Not worth my time.
As survivor: 90+% killers (proxy)camp/tunnel/slug and try everything they can to get you without a legit chase.
Boring gameplay. Not worth my time.

Reworked Billy needs some tweaks to increase his curving potential. Right now -at base- he can only hit a curve when you're at around 5m of distance AND the survivor has to run through the pallet at that exact distance without dropping it. At any other distance you're either:
- A: Too close / close enough to get stunned (>5m)
- B: So far away the survivor is out of range (<5m) for a curve-hit as they will be around the next corner just in time even if you turn around the corner perfectly with maximum-curve-angle (which is harder to do consistently than playing Nurse).

I do wonder why Premonition has a cool down but Spine Chill doesn’t.
Premonition shows you the direction of the killer.
Without a cooldown it would be like a wallhack. Killers could never mindgame you on any loop as you could just hold your premonition on them whilst looping around -let's say- a jungle gym.

Jesus, 77 pages? When will this dumb post die so i can stop looking at it? God, nothing but entitled whiners on here, I swear...
No one forces you to look at this thread. You are the entitled one.
No one cares about what you want to see on the DBD forums.
This topic is DBD related so people can discuss it all they want. Your opinion and your definition of the term "entitled" means nothing.
-
Quote: "and then I’m presuming they were all SWF and it was communicated I’m running Lightborn, because then EVERYONE else DC’d"
That really doesn't mean anything. There is no DC penalty and survivor queues are faster than killer queue times at this moment so if one survivor disconnects some people will think
"well, this match is done - back to the insta-lobby"
As for the topic I have yet to try Lightborn but always think it's a wasted perk slot as most people mess up the flashlight blind anyways.

Calling him the new Freddy is a stretch but he is pretty strong considering he has virtually no skill ceiling.

It says at the bottom "in game data from july 2017 - may 2021"
2020/2021 data be like: 80% kill rate on red ranks.
Devs be like: Ooh! But killer won't play if they don't win most of their matches by default! Better reduce the killrate data by spreading the statistics all the way back to 2017 when survivors were a lot stronger.
-
When did Rin become a "he" ?
-
So you put Victor under a hook before hooking a survivor on said hook to evade the mechanic that stops you from using Victor next to a hooked survivor?
If that's the case then it can be considered an exploit.
-
Nurse and Spirit. I dislike them both equally.
-
I think the devs should buff his skillful playstyle (curving).
Keep the long default charge up time but buff the maximum curve angle.
That way he will be able to curve/antiloop with more distance to the survivor if you hit the curve timing correctly.
-
Say it with me:
DBD
IS
NOT
A
NEW
GAME
So it is supposed to work PROPERLY on old gen consoles - period !
Even though I got lucky enough to get a brand new Series-X I will never respect the selfish mindset of people who want to treat old gen players like 2nd class. The game used to run decently on old gen consoles back then so why should they now accept the horrible performance issue ?
Just because there's new consoles that are not even available everywhere ?

X is the button for dead hard on PS. I think they mean that.
I think they're referring to the doubt meme:
As for the topic that's another reason not to play solo. Killers enjoy treating solos like trash despite the fact most solos are giving them easy games that even a 5 year old could win.

What are those offerings In the fist video? I have never seen them before.
Ohhh so that's what pallet vacuums are. I always wanted to know.
Dear God self care was that fast?
Wow watching videos of old dbd is fascinating.
Those were map offerings that "slightly" increased the chance for a map.

Did they have any PS5?
They have separate corners for PlayStation / XBOX so actually I don't know if they had a PS5 but I doubt they had one.
Even the two Series X they had weren't listed on the website (that's probably why the employees were surprised).
-
I've given up on "oPtiMiSaTiOn" so I bought a XBOX Series-X today. Was lucky as my local store had 2 in stock (the employees themselves were surprised).
Yes, I am excited about the next gen experience but at the same time I can not express just how disappointed I am that I had to get a new gen console to play an old game that has worse graphics than some XBOX 360/PS3 games (i.e. Crysis 3).
-
Well, this thread backfired, didn't it ?
-
When will survivors learn they are not allowed to play the game ?
-
Well, sounds like I don't need to download this patch then. Not gonna play until the game runs... Like a normal game.
-
Quote: "There are many maps which a good killer tries to make a good mind game and the survivor in many of the maps (since more than 50% of the maps have structures close together) which gives them time to make a full W to go to the next structure that is 10 meters away and the killer meanwhile doing a mind game .. is there a counter for this?"
You answered your own question. The "counter" is not mindgaming yourself and actually checking what survivor type you're chasing. If you (ironically) brainlessly try to mindgame every single loop even though the survivor clearly keeps skipping loops to make distance then you've failed to analyze your opponent correctly.
-
Why does Destiny 2 run smooth as butter on old gen consoles despite 1 bazillion particle/light effects, more demanding graphics, faster movements, open-ish world, multiplayer etc ?
I've put almost 1k hours in Destiny 2 since I've started taking a long break from DBD (due to the terrible fps drops/freezes) and have yet to experience ONE SINGLE STUTTER.
No, the "old hardware" argument is not valid. Next argument please.
-
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Hell no !
-
You pretty much had the 4k but still rage quit because one of the last 2 survivors gave you a hard time due to your lack of skill.
This proves that even inexperienced killers not only expect to 4k every game but they demand easy 4ks otherwise they refuse to play.

No, they wont. They crouch next to the Hook, because if the Killer camped for 1 1/2 minutes they will surely go away for the last 30 seconds!
That's painfully accurate
-
That's a weak argument as balance doesn't come down to how often you win and lose. It comes down to HOW you win or lose.
If a killer played very badly but still managed to win most of his matches would you say killers were in a good spot?
-
Yeah let's nerf situational perks because why not
-
Blame the devs for allowing camping/tunneling/slugging. They could get rid of all these strats in literally 1 patch if they wanted to.
-
Nothing was solved and nothing woll ever get solved. If you get a match without fps drops it was purely luck.
-
Lore wise there are numerous killers that are deemed immortal such as Myers, Freddy, Pyramid Head etc so there isn't really a "strongest" killer in this regard.
-
Post game chat should just be removed entirely from the game. It's either used for meaningless ggs (mostly after 1 side had a ######### game) or insults.
-
@MadLordJack said:
To be fair... She's really not. Five hours and you've got enough skill to tear through every team except proper tournament squads, I wouldn't call that a hard killer to learn. Not like Billy, or Blight, or Huntress, or Demogorgon, or Plague, or literally any other killer in the game except perhaps Spirit.
T H I S.
-
No, counterplay as in
"you drop that pallet and now you can't get hit"
does not exist for Spirit.
-
So what exactly is a match of yours as Spirit supposed to prove?
-
Original Dying Light was an extremely unhealthy perk as it forced you to tunnel the hell out of the obsession basically acting like you had a personal problem with 1 out of 4 players.
And after playing like a total arse towards the obsession you got rewarded with an easy 4k due to the fixed 25% action speed debuff unless the team was hella fast.
On top of that some obsessions just gave up during the hard tunnel instantly activating the 25% debuff to all action speeds basically granting the 4k by default.
New Dying Light isn't optimal/particularly strong but the concept itself is now much healthier than before.
-
This looks scary not gonna lie
-
Honestly I think they should at the very least buff the time window- and maximum turn radius of his chainsaw-curving to allow skillful players to curve more consistently to make him more fun to play.
-
@TwitchyMike said:
That is some insane lag... You sure it's not just your network settings? Is the optimization problem mostly on console?
That's not lag. That's literally the current DBD performance issue all old gen consoles and low spec PCs experience regularly.
I've experienced even worse freezes than these (3 full seconds being the longest game freeze so far) yet I have NEVER gotten even the slightest fps drop whilst playing Destiny 2's PVP in almost 1000 hours (total so far).
So yeah, definitely not a connection issue otherwise we would experience fps drops and rubberbanding in other online games, too.
Just fyi: My console is hardwired to my router as well.
-
Charge speed addons were pretty important for him as he can't just follow you around obstacles during a chainsaw sprint and curving is situational as hell and based around the shape of said obstacle so you need to use the sprint asap as soon as you manage to close some distance during a chase.
So removing his charge addons without buffing his base charge up time results in him having to be glued to you for seconds otherwise he won't have a chance to get a chainsaw hit.
Now how often will you have the chance to be glued to a survivor that knows how to loop? Exactly.
It's not going to happen in a reasonable time so he becomes a M1 killer unless you want to throw the game to get an "ego chainsaw down".
It is as simple as that.
The overheat mechanic further punishes him for using his chainsaw for map pressure. If let's say you try and curve-snipe a good looper without success you should immediately sprint back to the gens.
Now as you get there you see a survivor outpositioned but damn the chainsaw is about to overheat. Well, better luck next time.
I have seen actual god Hillbillies who would curve snipe at just about every map but even they dropped him eventually (they now main Blight instead).
