I've always thought it means "guys hurry up with them gens the killer is breathing in my face" but unfortunately there's many people who just wave their arms for fun making it pointless. Best solution might be running Kindred but personally I refuse to waste a perk slot just to get the information that SWF teams get for free.
-
Award Winning Chilli noticably affects directional changes. Works great for chainsaw mindgames around (closed) pallet loops depending on the survivor's skill. Doesn't seem to actually affect the acceleration in terms or top speed even though it should.
-
The game generates smurfs by itself. It's called rank reset. I've been rank 1 killer/survivor for years [about 3500 hours in the game] but I'm taking some sort of a break since as I'm currently more interested in other games. It will take a while till I become active again. By that time I will probably be green or yellow rank killer/survivor even though I clearly don't belong there.
Matchmaking by dbd-hours would be a decent thing but the devs won't do it anyways. They prefer meaningless ranks that you get by making matches artificially longer as killer and cleansing totems as survivor.
Played one match as killer yesterday before jumping back on Borderlands 3. 4k'd in 1 min 44 seconds. Safety pip. Guess I'm supposed to terrorize inexperienced survivors. Can't wait for rank reset to put me in even worse ranks just because I prefer playing other games for a while. Good thing there aren't rank rewards.
-
Most killers use moris against solo survivors so the "SWF argument" isn't valid. About 60-70% of my games are with moris as a 100% solo player. Ironically killers even messaged me "rekt your swf" a few times. Apparently killers always think it's SWF if they struggle.

A ranged instadown that can ignore windows and pallets is perfectly balanced? Sure bud.
Only the worst Huntress players in the world use iridescent heads - change my mind.

I think this is an issue with dedicated servers, happens with Legion too sometimes.
It's not an issue with the dedicated servers. I too notice that "rubberband effect" just after a vault (on console with peer to peer and green stable ping connection). In fact I watched a clip of mine yesterday and checked a vault frame by frame. I think it has something to do with the vault momentum the devs added to the game. With them vault changes they also added a rubberband effect which is particularly noticeable after medium vaults.
-
I still want a flamethrower killer who can use the flamethrower for various things including burning the ground temporarily causing injuries if you stay within the flames for too long but cause no harm if you quickly run through them. A direct hit with the flamethrower fire could cause either injuries or a new status effect called "burn" or something like that.
I'm bored of high mobility killers even though they're typically stronger / overall better at winning than "normal mobility" type killers.
-
I don't even want to get healed anymore. It's the most boring part of survivor gameplay. Standing still and waiting for the healing bar to complete. It's like a loading bar. Just bring Self Care+Botany Knowledge if you insist on getting your health state back. That way you don't force other survivors off gens while healing yourself in a reasonable time and you still have two perk slots for whatever you think is necessary to survive.

Rank 10 is not literally nothing. Due to how ranks work right now, rank 10 places me with 4 rank 5 - 10 survivors. If I am able to get better than 2 kills on average per game I am over performing. And that's just adding to my point. Killers have gotten used to easy kills. You know that you got to rank 10 easily as well. You were also able to pub stomp survivors. Which just proves my point even more. Killer is to easy.
The bitter reality is that most experienced killers 3k-4k easily 70 out of 100 games but all they remember is the 30 games they lost rather than the 70 games they dominated because losing as killer feels awful in DBD due to the fact human psychology takes a loss way too seriously (on average) if you're losing to a group of people (some people can't even take a loss in 1 v 1 games) especially if said group bullies the solo person (killer) throughout the match for around 10 minutes and acts rude afterwards (I don't care about childish players [since most childish players are ACTUAL children] but I know for a fact MOST people do).
If you lose as survivor it's easier to just move on since you're just 1 out of 4 anyways so no one really cares.
Some people may dislike the following comparison but psychologically it's the same result. Play a match of Fortnite's 100 people mode or whatever it's called where everyone goes against each other. Now get killed at the start of the match. Question: Do you care?
-
Leatherface.
I've been maining him since his release and never looked back (first killer I mained was Huntress). Something about swinging a chainsaw destroying everything that's in my way just appeals to me even though he's far from a top tier killer. I just enjoy playing him more than any other killer in the game because his chainsaw "feels" powerful to me.
-
Isn't pinky finger Santa Clown a christmas tradition at this point? 🤔
-
It may take a while for a gen to be completed by gen tapping but I still prefer gen tapping teammates over those that look for Ruin ALL GAME.
-
A survivor goofing around with another survivor is toxic? Well... I guess everything is toxic these days.
-
Bubba is (still) basically the only killer in the game for me since his release. I temporarily mained a few others over the course of the years (Huntress, Doctor and Hillbilly) but at the end of the day Bubba is the only killer I consistently enjoy playing because wildly swinging a chainsaw with 100% movement control is just fun for me.
The only way to make me play another killer for a longer period of time was if the devs made a flamethrower killer of some type. I really like chainsaws and flamethrowers.

I'll just summon a bubba main @Yamaoka
How kind of you to think of me everytime someone talks about Bubba. Here, have a bowl of the best chili around.
At topic: Playing Leatherface/Bubba well is easier said than done IF you are facing decent survivors. Judging by the fact you were referring to jukes I take it you've faced some decent survivors which can make you feel like a killer with no power pretty quickly if you haven't mastered Bubba to his full potential.
First things first: Many unsafe pallets allow you to chainsaw the survivor through the pallet if you run them correctly AND there are a couple chainsaw mindgames that Bubba can do better than Hillbilly due to his 100% chainsaw control.
A few samples:
https://youtu.be/29RMFtVznvw https://youtu.be/5PkGD9AQ7ioTypically you want to run at least one speed addon. Knife Scratches is often sufficient. As you can tell by the red bar in most of my clips I'm not a fan of quick-charge addons as the chainsaw gets more powerful the more range and top speed you have. That is if you play him like me using the chainsaw to mindgame and anti-loop pallets.
However quick-charge addons/instasaw has its benefits, too. If you don't know all the pallet and vault locations or if a survivor comes around a corner unexpectedly you can use the chainsaw more spontaneously especially if they quickly hop into a slow vault animation hoping it'd let them get away. Works great with the classic Spirit Fury+Enduring combination by the way.
As for multi-instadowns: They are completely luck based. Even with dual-speed addons survivors have to get nervous and make the fatal mistake to stick together during the chainsaw charge time. However if you run dual-speed addons you are more likely to catch up to the 2nd survivor if they try and run in different directions IF you manage to down the 1st survivor with the first two swings of the chainsaw. This is a decent example of mine:
https://youtu.be/OIqayj_P3TENow onto the last thing: BUILDS!
As with most killers there's a couple builds that can DRAMATICALLY increase Bubba's lethality.
@LordGlint has already named a crazy strong combination that's relatively new. Nemesis+PWYF. I tried that build on day 1 as I knew it was gonna make Bubba crazy strong and the results were... Well.. Let's just say these guys had a bad time despite bringing 2 purple engineer's toolboxes, 1 commodious toolbox and Prove thyself.
https://youtu.be/vZeuwpYZuWcEven if survivors catch on and try to avoid stunning you there's still an obsession in the game that you can use to get your tokens but Nemesis makes it A LOT more likely that you'll get them tokens right at the start of the game resulting in all the pain and suffering you desire.
If you have any more questions just let me know.
-
I used to give hatch all the time over the course of the years but stopped being kind in any way whatsoever a while ago as no one ever appreciates nice killers so I might as well go for the 4k whenever I can.
As survivor I never expect a killer to let me go (the only thing I expect is to get 1-hooked and smacked on the hook for minutes). Last time a killer let me escape via the hatch was in mid/late 2018 at Lery's.
-
That doesn't sound like they're serious to be honest.
-
I wouldn't exactly say I've stopped playing DBD but I'm definitely taking some sort of a break at the moment unless you consider playing about 2-3 games every few days "an active player". I'm not frustrated or anything, though. There's just other interesting games that I'm enjoying at the moment. After thousands of DBD hours I tend to get bored quite quickly even if I win every match.
-
"pee cannon": Despite your best efforts you expect to get camped and die anyways so you think you might as well pee the killer in the face before you die.
Allows you to pee with 100k psi of pressure (because Entity realm) for 10 seconds everytime you're hooked. As a result of this high pee pressure the killer can't camp as the mighty pee pressure will push the killer far away from the hook. Also causes the killer's camera to be yellow for a duration of 60 seconds if the pee hits them directly in the face.
-
2 min and 46 secs for what exactly? 5 gens or 5 gens + gate or 5 gen and 4 escapes or 4 kills at 5 gens? 🤔

Doesn't mean the game doesn't still have problems at Green ranks. I've been in games where the connection is stable overall and when a killer hits a survivor, myself and others get a lag spike. Either way it's a problem and you shouldn't have to go from lobby to lobby, as a survivor, just to find a decent game. This game has been out four years now so there's really no excuses on BHVR part.
Those lag spikes during a hit are mostly game performance issues. That's not the result of the killer's internet. Even as a killer I get lag spikes every now and then when hitting a survivor even though I'm the host on console. It happens especially if a debuff is applied with the hit. Not sure why.
Anyways as far as I know all the game issues haven't been solved with dedicated servers. In fact dedicated servers seem to "hide" killers with bad internet making them teleport all over the place while hitting you through dropped pallets or even through walls. I wouldn't specifically ask for dedicated servers as long as they're basically worse than peer to peer connection.

That's not true. I've been in several games with yellow ping and been fine and vice versa. Games already take half a day to get into so why would I pull a killer and start lobby dodging (which already happened three times tonight from killer, but that's another discussion).
Read again. I said if you stay in a yellow or red ping lobby with an UNSTABLE number/ping. Bad ping stability coupled with a high ping (yellow/red) is what causes you to rubberband and freeze all over the place.
If you're in a lobby take a look at the number of the ping and make sure it's not a jumping number. If it's a low yellow ping (around 110 give or take) and it stays between 110-130 you'll be fine (for the most part). However if it's unstable and keeps jumping between let's say 100 and 180+ expect to rubberband all over the place.
-
You realize there's a lobby ping for a reason, don't you? If it's a green ping and a stable number you can't rubberband. If you stay in a yellow or even red ping lobby with an unstable number you will obviously rubberband all over the place.

I recently played a game where a survivor absolutely blew my mind. Twice they would 99 their sprint burst and bait me to chase them. Then they would vault a window, which activates a 99'd sprint burst, as you're technically not running while vaulting. That conditioned me into thinking they had lithe throughout the whole match. They absolutely made me look like a fool at the end when they finally showed me their sprint burst. I don't remember the exact situation, but they practically won the game by baiting me to take a chase thinking it's an easy down, as they were pretty much in a dead zone.
Only a really good player can pull stuff like this off and deserve to be rewarded for it. I'd hate for skilful interactions like this to be taken out of the game.
Good to see there are some killers like me who actually appreciate skillful and rare survivors strategies. Guess most people want every match to look exactly the same.
-
When all exhaustion perks got heavily nerfed with the update that contained exhaustion not to cool down whilst running anymore (and on top of that the devs made it so crouching doesn't affect exhaustion any longer. It used to decrease exhaustion by 33%) the developers themselves said the most efficient way to use Sprint Burst was to 99 it which requires good timing and anticipation.
If you don't time it correctly you have to stand still for too long allowing the killer to get a hit.
You want survivors not to play efficient so you can have an easy game?
Maybe you should try playing at rank20 so you won't have to deal with smart survivors.
Can't believe people complain about Sprint Burst in (almost) 2020 especially when half the community acts like Sprint Burst was trash compared to Dead Hard.
-
Well toxic people don't stop when it comes to the killer. Usually they also message other survivors and if they die it's everyone else's fault.
Today I played solo survivor and first game was against a Hillbilly with a pure slug build. Being a slugging Bubba I know what Billy wanted so I kept running away from everyone else and repaired generators literally on the other side of the map. I ended up getting chased about 3 times (won every chase with no injury as he kept trying to chainsaw me), repaired 4 out of 5 generators and opened a gate.
Result: 2k with about 4 hooks in total. Guaranteed depip and almost no bloodpoints.
Just because of me it didn't turn into a 4k at 5 gens yet I still got messaged "YOU LIKE DOING GENERATORS, DON'T YOU? YOU'RE SO BAD".
Even explaining the situation is completely pointless as people don't want to accept they died because of their own mistakes. I even told them Billy wanted us to stick together for easy slugs which is why I kept running away from everyone else repairing generators while they were slugged.
They replied "you could have picked us up he was chasing the team on the other side of the map". Well yeah... That person who got chased on the other side of the map was ME and there was someone else picking them up all the time anyways so if I hadn't repaired them generators we all would have died at 5 gens.
Long story short: Toxic people usually insult and blame the killer AND EVERYONE ELSE just so they don't have to accept that they themselves are just bad at the game.

@Yamaoka if you rely on your team being that efficient... And there were at least 2 pallets where you could run at least one turn before dropping. And mostly, I was saying this because you said "survivors don't know how to use" while presenting a bad example. But well, don't want to get too picky on it.
And I wouldn't agree to make him another GF. Rather make the chainsaw not lethal or add a lethal mode in addition, and the normal mode has no hit cooldown but multiple hits adding Bleedout, then Broken and then down, but the longer you run it, the longer the cooldown to reuse it or something.
Obviously I could have played more like this:
https://youtu.be/JKYwzUZM3X0But yeah in that particular game I knew the other players (just by their names. No SWF) so I had a rough idea what the game will look like as soon as I realized the killer had no Ruin. Also when I said people have no idea how to use pallets and windows I meant it more in a "they have no idea where they are" way. If you watch my killer clips you will notice even red ranks run AWAY from pallets and windows allowing me to snowball like crazy.

And I mean no one is gonna stand still mid chase to gain the exhaustion perk back lmao
Especially not for 24 seconds (that's how long you'd have to stand still if Vigil was 40%) haha. So yeah I really don't get why devs are afraid of buffing trash tier perks when you could literally double some values and certain perks would still barely become "decent".

I'd say buff it to 35% maybe 40% although that's probably cutting it
At 40% it would be somewhat useful and maybe interesting for a few people but even then the vast majority wouldn't use it since the "BorrowedTime-DecisiveStrike-Adrenaline-DeadHard"-meta is just a lot more useful than getting your exhaustion perk back a little more quickly.

@dont_ask_me_again Quentin Needs a Plastic Surgeon if anything at all .
Vigil is fine as it is .
It makes exhustion perks go from 45 Seconds to 35 seconds I believe . If it gets buffed . Game will be broken with Sprint Burst and Dead hard activating during chases .
Vigil / Quentin was added to the game when exhaustion cooled down WHILST RUNNING. That's why it only reduces exhaustion by 20% which means 32 seconds exhaustion instead of 40 (on a side note the actual exhaustion lasts 35 seconds even with Vigil as the icon lags behind the exhaustion bar) while standing still making it useless since you only stand still for a longer period of time when you're on a gen anyways.
Since its values are the result of the old exhaustion system that cooled down whilst running it should clearly get buffed or reworked.

Actually I saw 2 chances, which he messed up by potatoing around. Single videos are not really good proof of any balance or viability. Same to @Yamaoka . And talking about "how to use pallets", it didn't look so optimal in your video either. Waiting and throwing it instantly, no mind gaming at all making him charge the chainsaw for waste... He just gave you back way more time by mindgaming safe loops.
The problem is that Leatherface is simply an M1 killer and there is not really something in his background that could give him any other approach to get something beneath his chainsaw. And the chainsaw cannot really be changed in any viable way. Instant downs whenever you want is strong, but he has no way to counter chases in any way with his power. If he doesn't find survivors offguard or in the open or manages to body block in any way, he has literally no power.
He had no Ruin so throwing every pallet immediately was more efficient than looping and mindgaming. Why would I risk getting mindgamed/downed if I know all the gens can be done in one chase as long as I find every pallet on the map? 🤔
And as I said there was maybe one or two chances to get a chainsaw hit but in both cases I was injured already and I took too much of his time anyways making the chainsaw pointless.
What Bubba needs is an overhaul. A mechanical change to his chainsaw. Something that makes it difficult to control it but allows him to use it around loops in exchange. Either that or they could try and make him a jumpscare killer that can temporarily suppress his terror radius under certain conditions.
I mean... In the original movie he took his victims by surprise - especially Franklin. So I don't get why they made him a regular "chase" killer in the first place.

Explain why what I said isn’t 100% facts .....
if you can’t then point proven
An opinion is an opinion. In my opinion solo survivor gameplay is by far more stressful than killer gameplay as you got 0 control over the match as opposed to playing killer where most of the match results are the result of your own mistakes or correct plays.

That Bubba had no excuse to miss you that many times, thanks for the time stamp by the way.
The way I see it the Bubba was way too anxious to get you down and on the hook. He got tunnel visioned. Plan and simple.
The bitter reality is there was no way for him to chainsaw me during the entire 5 gen chase except for the moment where I double-360'd him at which point I was injured anyways. Do you think a power should really depend on survivor mistakes THAT hard? Right now Bubba's chainsaw can ONLY down bad survivors with no exception. I don't even remember when I got chainsawed by a Leatherface.
But then again most survivors don't know how pallets and windows work even at red ranks so I don't blame you for thinking his ability doesn't need any changes. I'm a Leatherface main myself since 2018 and I play most of my games using the chainsaw only but even then I know it's always the result of survivor mistakes rather than my "skill".
Just watch these SWF red/purple ranks with 3 toolboxes. 0 gens against a chainsaw-only Bubba yet none of the chainsaw downs were the result of my "skill". Everything was just the result of their own mistakes. I broke 2 pallets and vaulted 0 windows that game. Does that sound like they knew what they were doing?

That would actually be amazing. More of a high risk high reward
Exactly! Right now his (base) chainsaw is just not good for chases unless the survivors are potatoes. That's why many people end up camping as Bubba. Because they feel like that's the only thing his chainsaw is good for once they face people that know how to loop.
So the solution is simple. A high risk / high reward concept that's difficult to master but fun once you know what you're doing.
-
All of these changes reduce the need for good predictions and precision.
Tantrum? Caused by bad chainsaw control.
Locker juke? Easy to predict and counter as Bubba.
Pallet stun during chainsaw attack? Again: A matter of prediction/skill. You can predict whether you'll get stunned by the pallet.
All of these changes would reduce the skill ceiling for Bubba while NOT buffing him against good players. His worst weaknesses are:
- only 86.25% movement speed while charging the chainsaw
- low chainsaw movement speed without addons
- low chainsaw range without addons
- low chainsaw acceleration even with addons
Personally I've posted numerous ideas to actually buff his ability while increasing the skill ceiling for him but I doubt he'll get any big changes at all.
Something I like about him in the original movie is his "wild" way to handle the chainsaw so I'd like him to have a chainsaw attack that's difficult to control but rewarding when you manage to control it.
That's why one of my suggestions was to actually increase his tantrum-stun, increase his base charge time AND make it so he gets slightly pulled to the direction of his chainsaw swings in exchange for considerably more movement speed during the chainsaw attack.
That would make it extremely difficult and risky to maneuver his chainsaw around objects but you'd actually be able to catch people running around stuff if you are good enough at controlling the chainsaw.
-
And people will still act like "red rank" means something haha.
-
I've read as much as "one mistake and the game is over as killer" multiple times now and I gotta ask has anyone ever watched their own killer gameplay? EVERY killer does MULTIPLE mistakes EVERY MATCH including matches that end in a 5 gen 4k.
I often 4k at 5 gens and still realize I did several things wrong afterwards (like forgetting where I slugged a specific survivor causing me to lose momentum especially if I look for the slug and they get picked up somewhere else) yet I still 4k at 5 gens every now and then even against red/purple ranks with multiple purple engineer's toolboxes.
Everyone who claims killer gameplay required 100% perfect choices and no mistakes just isn't aware how many mistakes they actually do every game.
No killer plays 100% perfectly. NOBODY. Hell, most well known streamers make obvious mistakes every game and still 4k more often than not.
-
This idea has been brought up many many times but I've never seen a dev talk about adding more tutorial options to allow players to test out killers, perks, explore maps etc.
Probably because they're afraid some people would rather toy around using tue tutorial than play the actual game.
-
Beautiful. He's staring right into my soul.
-
Toolboxes are far worse.
If people join my lobby with toolboxes it's usually purple engineer's toolboxes with addons and/or commodious toolboxes (often with brand new part).
A purple engineer's toolbox WITHOUT addons repairs a generator in just 64 seconds if I remember correctly.
These guys probably wanted a 3-4 minute game:
- prove thyself + bond
- 1 purple engineer's toolbox with scraps (+15 charges) and clean rag (+10% speed)
- 1 purple engineer's toolbox with spring clamp
- 1 commodious toolbox with clean rag (+10% speed) and socket swivels (+15% speed)
https://youtu.be/vZeuwpYZuWcMatches like these make me wonder why many killer seem to bring moris against solo players with no items (about every 3rd-5th game for me). Clearly it's possible to win even against (possible) SWF with strong toolboxes at 5 gens. Not 100% sure if they were SWF but I just assume they were because I never see toolboxes when I play solo survivor let alone 3 "strong" toolboxes + prove thyself and bond.
-
Stress is highly subjective. Being a pure solo player I consider survivor gameplay more stressful (but also more challenging and rewarding) than killer gameplay as I always expect to die either by getting camped/1-hooked or tunneled off the hook without borrowed time.
Killer is kinda chill to me because I know I'll win at least 90% of my matches since the vast majority of survivors just aren't really good at the game (including red rank survivors) so even my Bubba (who is considered one of the worst killers in the game) will handle them casually in most cases.

That red light and chase music is the result of an addon that causes said effects when you're at tier3 madness. The Doctor hasn't been changed yet.

If you watch at .25 speed you'll see how far her weapon actually is a away from me yet counts as a hit. You'll also see that the bus walls go to putty as she hits through it.
The second hit should not have hit either. I had enough distance to safely vault that window. Still "lagged back" so the hit would connect.
Console ps4, about a month ago, with gigabit internet that almost always has good enough ping for most games. These hits happen regularly in green and yellow ping matches.
