I've survived less than 10% of my event games as survivor.
Nothing but sweaty slugging, tunneling, trash.
If anything, it's only teaching killers how to take advantage.
Don't like instant heals, use a killer that has a debuf that prevents it.
Don't like survivor mobility, poison negates it.
Don't like invis/(still has scratch marks)/portal (you use the same pathing)/pallets (not really that helpful when it's not active most of the time).
Don't like any ability at all, use Jason.

Sounds like a skill issue to me. I've won the majority of my event matches on both sides. Also, you don't have scratch marks while invis, just because the killer goes to the same portal as you doesn't mean it's not insanely strong, and the unbreakable pallets are literally game winning when they're active. This whole post just reads "Why am I not getting free insta wins and being able to hyper bully the killer in the event.". Just an insane amount of entitlement and lack of understanding of the other side. And yes, it is an MMR thing, because it's a skill issue.

If people aren’t frequently DC-ing, they shouldn’t get penalties from occasional internet outages. That’s why you get a freebie for the first one. I don’t support anything that makes DC-ing less punishing because people still do it way too frequently. Honestly, I think the punishment for DC-ing should be harsher.

Completely agree with this. I think the DC penalty should start at 10 minutes and if you DC more then say, 7-10 times in one day, you should get a week suspension. The amount of games I play with people that just DC is insane. I mean if I play 10 matches at least 4-5 of those matches will have a DC. It just ruins the match for both sides, most of the time. There are some killers that enjoy the DC's because it means an easy win. I hate it tho. I'd rather have a hard fought match then it just be handed to me.

Killer had a full hex build consisting of Retribution, Devour Hope, Plaything and Pentimento

My duo was cleansing her Plaything and another player dmmed me telling me to tell my duo to not cleanse hexes when pentimento pops up. Why is this?? Is it truly a bad thing to cleanse hexes if a killer has pentimento? I responded saying my duo was cleansing her plaything and the person said "Oh I didnt know." then unadded me.

Now im just confused lol. It it better to leave the hexes active against penti or no??

You seem rather new to the game so instead of like some other people in this discussion have said that "It's just plaything so it's not worth getting rid of" I will give you better advice.

First, cleansing totems against Pentimento is usually always a bad idea unless vital to the game. The totems that need to be cleansed would mainly be Ruin and Devour Hope. However, as a newer player I can understand why you would think cleansing Plaything is also important, because not having a terror radius can really suck for someone that doesn't have hundreds of hours in the game. Hell I sometimes even cleanse it just because I dislike Plaything.

The main advice I would give you is slowly learning to play without a terror radius and being more vigilant when on generators. Be looking around constantly. Now there will be times you will just get caught off guard and that's fine but the more vigilant you become the better at not playing with a terror radius you will become. Don't worry about what randoms on the game tell you. It will come with experience and just understanding the game. Play how you feel is best and go into each match with the mindset of getting better and improving your skill level.

Such a selfish, nihilistic view of the world. I feel sorry for you.

I don't have a nihilistic view of the world. I love my life and I love living. I think this planet has amazing things left to do and create. I think living is the most amazing thing a person can do and I would encourage everybody to live the most of life they possibly can. I'm just not delusional and I understand there are things in this world that I have no control over. I can't change AI and the way it will affect the world to come. I can't change people from arguing on the internet for the rest of humanity. There are countless things I am incapable of changing or having an effect on and I can acknowledge that and be ok with it. I just continue to love my life with my wife and family. I continue to focus on the things I can change in my life and the things that I can affect that will benefit me in the future. I focus on working my job, taking my wife on dates, going swimming with my family. I focus on the things around me and the things I can interact with that will have an affect on me. I can't change or affect multi-billion dollar corpos from investing and creating AI. I can't stop Elon Musk or any other silicon valley tech mogul from doing those things. So they seem like pointless things that will just bring undue stress into my life when I can just enjoy what I have. Everybody nowadays thinks their opinions matters to these people at the top when it doesn't and never will. They will continue to do what they want for the rest of time. So why care about them until they come for me and my family. The moment those people say I'm now allowed to spend time with my wife or family. I can't go on dates anymore or enjoy the simple things in life like taking my dogs on a walk, then I'll care and do whatever I can to protect my family. But as it is right now, AI doesn't harm me or my way of life so I see no point in stressing about. I will continue to love my life, my family, my wife, and everything that I do currently.

  • I'm honestly fine with the 50 cakes per prestige now. It allows me to use my main to farm BP and level up others to unlock perks or get then unlocked at a higher tier. Before I could basically only level up my main and was unable to focus on the other characters. Now I don't have to do that which I think is a win.

  • I honestly don't know what I can say to help because I'm in this same mindset myself. I personally don't mind losing all that much when matches are close or things don't go my way. I'm a pretty competitive person and so when I lose from the other side doing good and being skillful I just accept the lose and go next.

I think the main issue for me is the BM and immense toxicity that this community has the capacity for. I really dislike the feeling of loading up Twins (My favorite killer btw) and getting t-bagged when I miss a Victor hit and then waved at. It feels extra bad when the reason I missed isn't due to a lack of skill on my part but from some buggy collision or other thing that happened that my skill can't account for.

The EGC is also my worst nightmare. I don't care about the salt or toxicity after I win a match. If someone wants to mald because they lost, let them. It's funny and I'll just laugh at them. No, the part that is awful is when you lose the match. Whenever you load into a match, try your absolute hardest just to be t-bagged, waved at, pointed at, body blocked, and just BM'd the whole match and then you get to the chat. People just being the worst that humans can conjure. Calling you slurs, telling you to self delete, etc. just all of the hyper horrible things these people can think of.

This anxiety is tripled or quadrupled when playing a killer I enjoy like Nurse or Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul is my favorite anime of all time) that people just really dislike and then you do bad. Then people get really nasty in the EGC when you do bad on one of these killers.

I don't know how to overcome the anxiety and upsetness that comes with the BM and EGC nonsense completely. Most of the time I attempt to just ignore it and play the game the best I can. A lot of the time those people are just bad or will get very cocky and end up making a mistake that throws the game. I think it's just about trying to remove yourself from that mindset and focusing on doing the best you can and being content with that. If you lose, so be it. You did the best you possibly could that match and didn't go in your favor. Maybe you got a bad map or bad pallet spawns and you just couldn't control the way the match played out.

To deal with EGC nonsense I usually just leave as fast as possible. Play on Anon as well. It'll help you not get as many messages or steam comments. Consider making your profile on Steam private as well. I personally don't do this because I enjoy people being able to see my profile and if I get toxic comments, so be it.

I think going into each match with the mindset of you're probably gonna lose helps as well. I usually try to load in and not expect a win. If I expect to lose, then when I do lose, it doesn't hurt as bad. And when I win it feels that much better.

Bringing the fun into the game again is all subjective sadly. I personally have the most fun when I win. Some matches feel bad tho. Like those matches you hard lose up to exit gates being powered and you only win because the survivors are greedy for the 4 out. That feels bad because you didn't win because of your skill per say, you won because the other side made mistakes. You're just gonna have to find that fun for yourself. Maybe practice Victor snipes when playing Twins and seeing what places you can jump from and only go for that. If you play Nurse just focus on perfect blinks and nothing else. Try to find an aspect of the killer that you want to focus on and get better at and then do that with each killer. Fun is always subjective so I can't tell you what will bring back your fun into the game but hopefully this helps you figure out the proper path back to fun.

Can we discuss why THIS specific warning is given after a match when you're being tunneled out????

ISTG you guys genuinely cannot make this game MORE UNINVITING. As if this entire GD event hasn't been awful, with everyone and their grandmothers hard tunneling, because for once the event isn't 1000% killer-sided, but to get this warning after you're being tunneled out, even though I did my best to make distance, try to heal, and the second time after getting unhooked tried to do a gen, and yet I'M THE ONE GETTING PUNISHED AGAIN?

BHVR I wish you yourself, truly.

It's a side effect of the awful event. If the event didn't force killers to tunnel from the beginning of the match then it wouldn't happen as much but with the way the event is killers have to instantly tunnel.

"Learn pallet revault tech, learn how to hold distance, learn how to block him from pallets, learn how to block him from windows."- You could have at least tried to be a little less condescending.

You're the one that took it as condescending when I wasn't meaning it to. That is the bad part of talking to people through text. You don't know the tone they are taking when typing. If you perceive it as condescending then I can't change that. All I can say is that I wasn't being condescending. I can't teach you the techs you need to learn over a forum post. You have to figure them out for yourself, join a custom lobby with someone who will show you(I'm perfectly fine with doing that btw), or look up videos on the techs.

You are talking about the perks as though they haven't been nerfed:

They nerf any perk that combats tunneling? So I'm just crazy whenever I load up DBD and see DS, DH, OTR, STB, Deli, Plot Twist? These perks are so nerfed that some of them have been meta for years and some of them are the strongest perks in the entire game.

"These perks are so nerfed" yes, they are. DH and DS are nerfed perks.

You're acting like hopping in a locker with DS is a peak tactic and not the most obvious and basic thing people do with DS. People do this to me, I eat the stun, and they generally go down within 10s. What kind of value is that? People use it because the options are crap. The stun should be longer.

You can't tell me you get value out of them every match you play. You're saying you've never once been hooked with Deliverance not yet active? You've never missed a DH timing? Never had a match where you weren't tunneled or didn't get downed right after the stun wore off?

I actually can tell you I get value out those perks every match. Yes, I get hooked with Deli not active, I still have DH and DS I can use. Yes, I miss a DH timing, I still have DS I can use. Yes, I don't get to DS the killer every match. Now I get to run away, do a gen, and still have DH to use in the next chase. I actively get value out of one of those perks every single match I play because I play into them. I understand the playstyle of them and have adapted to that. If I'm not first chase then I almost always need to be the unhooker so I setup for the unhook. If I am first chase I make sure to try and time my DH properly or figure out how the use my DS the right way if I'm getting tunneled. I constantly waste an insane amount of time for most killers that chase me with these perks and they offer insane value to my team. The only way these perks wouldn't be meta and used every match is if some other insane perk that did what they do but better was added.

  • I honestly don't mind the portals. I think the pallets are the worst. I have played as survivor with the invuln and unbreakable pallets active and made some many killers just lose the game. Dropping the right pallet in the right place completely stops a killer from getting you or having a good chase. The invuln is really good as well basically acting as another DH if used the right way. I don't find the invis to be an issue because it makes an ungodly loud noise that is pretty easy to track. I mean the noise is just right in your face wherever the survivor walks to. The portal+invis is a pain tho I will say that.

  • @Domicci said:

First change make make shift wrap base kit its insane to me that his own power can hurt him. Second make trapper bag base kit. Now for the rework first let trapper collect traps from lockers it would despawn the farther replaced trapper from him then once hes placed all his traps it takes the oldest placed trap. Second instead of trapper placing traps he slows down holding out his trpa and drops it then after 3 second the trap arms its self. This would make trapper better in chase allow trapper to set up while slowing down way less.

I think you're on the right track here. I completely agree that Trapper should not be affected by his own traps. It makes no sense to me. This would be like Hag popping her own traps. I don't like the locker retrieval idea personally. IMO I think he should either start with all of his traps in hand, or when he picks up a trap he gets 2 instead of 1. To make him better in chase I would probably increase his setting speed by a little bit. Right now his setting speed is awful for mid chase traps. I understand he's suppose to be a setup killer but it would be nice to have some form of his power be usable during chase. And the biggest buff that I think they could give Trapper is adding more grass to maps. Add more grass to maps and Trapper would be much stronger. Right now his traps are just so easy to see that they're useless.

  • @tyantlmumagjiaonuha said:

You encounter countless elements that seem to have been implemented on a whim—such as survivors suddenly healing mid-chase, or pallets that the Killer cannot destroy but only survivors can vault over. There are even warp holes that certain Killers cannot pass through unless they activate their special abilities.

To top it all off, passing near these "unbreakable" pallets causes the game to stutter so severely that a proper chase becomes impossible. I’m supposed to be living in 2026, yet in those moments, the experience is so abysmal it feels like playing a game from over a decade ago. Setting game balance aside, I really wish they had at least fixed the bugs affecting both sides before launching the event.

I honestly don't know what BHVR was thinking with this event. It's horrible to play as a killer and wonderful to play as a survivor. The unbreakable pallets is especially heinous as you pointed out. I mean being able to perm lock a killer behind 2 pallets on Midwich is just an awful oversight. Same thing with Badham pallets. I mean if their unbreakable you literally just have to drop the chase. They also added an UNGODLY amount of pallets into the event mode with an untold amount of God pallets spawning. Yes, the poison is "strong" when used properly but it's also just insanely boring to interact with from both sides. As a survivor it feels bad to get punished for looping properly and keeping distance. As a killer it's completely unsatisfying to get a free hit that you didn't deserve.

I really hope this event either gets heavily reworked for next years anni or we just don't see it return and get a completely different and better event. If this is what we have to look forward to each anni I would will be sad. Anni time is suppose to be the most fun you can have in the game with an insane amount of BP but this year it's just miserable. I find myself not wanting to queue at all. For the event or for 1v4. This anni has completely drained my fun and excitement to play this game.

Can we stop talking about survivors handholding when killers get their handheld just as much if not more? They put red mist, screaming, and killer instinct on Jason because they didn't think killer players would be good enough to use his power without handholding. They're nerfing elusive because god forbid a killer have to use his eyes instead of relying on the bright orange marks on the ground. Elusive is really exposing how many killer players use scratch marks as a crutch.

I see you in all these posts talking about the stuff killers have and never acknowledging what survivors get and I can never tell if it's genuine or if you're just ragebaiting.

In the care you aren't ragebaiting I will engage with you this one time but I do think most of your replies are just ragebait. Scratch marks are a part of the game from the VERY BEGINNING. It's not like these were added into the game after killers boohoo'd constantly. They are a part of the game that adds extra skill expression into the game on the survivor side and helps killers locate survivors throughout the game. Playing the game with 0 scratch marks would make 95%-98% of all matches end in a 3-4 out because you are unable to track a survivor. Saying scratch marks are a crutch for killers is like saying the red stain is a crutch for survivors.

Elusive is a horribly overpowered status effect and needs to be given out sparingly and as a reward. This goes for Endurance as well. These status effects are insanely and game changingly overpowered to the point that if you give them out for free, see Cross Examination, they completely change the way a game plays out. It's not about Killers being unable to use their eyeballs or being bad at the game. It's about a survivor running a loop with multiple walls or running a main building or getting an indoor map and being able to just disappear for completely free without having to put in any effort. The perks plays itself and gives insane value for literally doing what you would normally do during the game. Perks that give value you this way shouldn't also give you the second strongest status effect in the game.

The reason Jason has red mist, killer instinct, and makes you scream is because you literally have nothing else to tell you where somebody is during his power. You get no sound queues and you can't see anything. If his power didn't have some form of tracking in it then it would be useless. You would wander the map in power with your head cutoff and survivors could just sit lockers the whole time or stand edge map and you'd never find anybody.

A lot of your issues it seems come from having to learn proper counterplay and attain a higher skill level in the game. All of these things are added and given to killers to make survivors learn and get better at the game. If you go into each match with the mindset of "How I can I improve and get better?" you would figure out that these "crutches" can be used in your favor. Every match I play I go into with the expectation of losing and I try to improve my skill level every time. I try to figure out the proper check spots. I try to hug objects as close as possible. I try to mind game the killer. I purposefully go into each match with the intention of increasing my skill. This is why I also watch lots of really good players at the game. Watch people like Hens and Ayrun has made me a significantly better survivor player. Watching really good killer players has made me better at understanding macro play and small techs that make chase easier.

Survivors constantly get new perks that punish the killer for interacting with the basic mechanics of the game. Hooking activates countless perks in the game with a negligible upside. Survivors have gotten base kit BT added to them and they increased the time limit of it as well. The only people that complain this way about killers are people that never actually attempt to understand the other side. They never actually attempt to get to a decently high MMR on killer and experience these things used to their full potential. It's survivor mains that hop into a killer match once or twice a month to finish out some quests, or hop onto killer during an event to get their BP and get the rewards. I urge you to spend a week playing a killer you enjoy and think is fun and get to a high MMR and see how many crutches killers have to help them win matches.

You said they weren't nerfed. You were wrong. I wasn't talking about their usage. Yeah, they're in all my killer matches too. Doesn't stop me from winning more than I lose. They're used because they sometimes work and nothing better is available. It's the same as killers using regress every match while complaining about how weak they are. Both sides are full of people who feel obligated to run these perks.

Calling Plot Twist an anti-tunnel perk cause it can potentially synergize with anti-tunnel perks is disingenuous. By itself, it's not anti-tunnel. Same with Deliverance. You can't call perks anti-tunnel because they can pair with anti-tunnel perks.

I actually never said these perks weren't nerfed, you're just seeing things. And they're ran every match because they do work. I get value out of DH, DS, or Deli every single match I play. Sometimes I get value out of multiple or all of them. The only reason these perks sometimes get value is because people don't understand how to properly use them. Forcing locker with DS is a perfect way or either getting value out of it or wasting the killers time. Using Plot Twist does the same thing. Deli also does the same thing. DH extends chases far longer than they need to be. The fear of these perks causes chases to last longer and tunnel outs to happen far less. These perks may not be what they were in their hayday but they are still oppressively strong and will continue to shape the way matches play out for the rest of DBD lifespan until something is done about them. I honestly can't think of a single killer perk or even a group of killer perks that have as much impact on the outcome of a match that perks like DS, DH, Deli, STB can have.

My electricity bill is going to increase anyway, however it hasn't in the past forever. And every river will eventually dry up when the world ends. There's nothing us lowlife no power no money no influence people can do about AI. It will take over every industry. It will be everywhere and become a part of daily life in the next 10-20 years. Might as well learn to live with it. Just how electricity and cars and the internet happened and took over the world, so will AI.

Decisive and Dead Hard have been nerfed. Decisive is crap against most killers.

How is Deliverance an anti-tunnel perk? It's pretty much a please-tunnel-me perk.

    How is Plot Twist anti-tunnel?

You forgot Babysitter though. But it was nerfed by diminishing returns.

DS is still literally one of the strongest perks in the game if not used like a neanderthal. Dead Hard was nerfed and is yet still one of the strongest perks in the game and is ran in almost every single match I play. The amount of time Dead Hard can add to chase will determine if the killer wins or loses the match. Plot Twist is 100% an anti-tunnel perk when played properly and ran with perks like DS forcing the killer to make the decision between picking you up and eating DS or letting you full heal. Deli is anti-tunnel because you basically gain no pressure by going back for the person that used Deli. The other 3 people are still just cranking away at gens. And if you're running Deli it's almost always paired with perks like DS, DH, and Plot Twist. Which is actually the strongest perk combination in the game.

And you just listed a bunch of perks that have been nerfed or reworked? And now BHVR is getting ready to nerf Cross Examination at the behest of content creators because elusive is too good at combating tunneling.

Getting nerfed but still being insanely OP doesn't matter. Those perks literally reshape the way a game will play out. I don't know how many matches I've played as a survivor running those perks that turned a game from a 3-4k into a 3-4 out because the killer was unable to get any momentum from hooking/tunneling me. And yes Cross Examination needs to be nerfed and was already going to get nerfed if you read the patch notes. It's not that it's to good at "combating tunneling" it's that it literally makes being chased a cake walk. The perk shouldn't work while you're being chased. Elusive is the second strongest status effect survivors can get and it shouldn't be able to be obtained by just being chased normally.

  • People hallucinate and say things with confidence as well.

  • @RedCentipede said:

Ever tell AI what build you're using? Then let it rate your build, where you can explain your logic behind your perk synergy, addons etc? Get AI thought process on your builds?

Sorry about the down votes you're getting. Sadly most people are Anti-AI brained nowadays so any mention of it turns them into a feral mob ready to commit violent harm against the person casually using it in their day to day life.

  • @cammoking123 said:

Unfortunately, tunneling is still very much meta. BHVR even endorses it as an official strategy. They nerf any perk that combats tunneling or makes it harder to tunnel.

Me I'm just grateful when I don't get killers that come back to hook to tunnel because that crap is terrible. I mean, I can at least understand tunneling at 1 gen. But the killers who do the crap right out the gate are the worst.

They nerf any perk that combats tunneling? So I'm just crazy whenever I load up DBD and see DS, DH, OTR, STB, Deli, Plot Twist? These perks are so nerfed that some of them have been meta for years and some of them are the strongest perks in the entire game.

  • I use the strongest perks that I can. I hate going against them but I know I will and I don't see a reason why I should nerf myself when nobody else does. It just makes my time playing the game harder for no reason. I mainly run a self-care build tho. The 2 perks I run that I dislike are Vigil and SB. I use Botany and Self-Care as the other two. I do however sometimes run a build that's Deli, DS, DH, and Adren.

Thanks for replying! Could you add a some how to's and when's?

How to loop: Use check spots, learn how to properly fast vault a window consistently, learn how to fast vault shack window consistently, learn how to hug loops tight, use proper pathing so that you make the pallet/vault, pre-drop unsafe pallets, leave a loop when given the chance and when it becomes unsafe.

Things to do against Kaneki: Learn pallet revault tech, learn how to hold distance, learn how to block him from pallets, learn how to block him from windows.

Do these consistently and you will have better matches and make most Ghoul's, and pretty much every other killer, not have a good time.

  • @TransverseCaster said:

And a pop up comes up accusing me of sand bagging my team. Does anyone have any suggestions? This happens I think because the typical (read: "all") Ghoul players rely on the outdated strategy of tunneling the first person out.

Legitimately need a counter-strategy for solo queue. Thanks guys

Crazy idea. Have you tried, umm, getting good? How about this one. Learning how to loop? I think if you did either one of these 2 things you would have a better time.

  • Ah yes another entitles survivor not caring about Killers at all. So what if killers have 5-7 minutes queues already. Lets up that to 20-30 minute queues. Killer shouldn't be able to have fun in this game. Lets allow Killers to also ban up to 15 perks they deem unfun and see how long queues are then. It's all me me me and never how are the other people feeling.

Just a bunch of boohoo baby's that never actually play the other side. I bet if you played your "free win" killer you would get completely destroyed and realize that hmmm maybe that killer actually takes some skill to play. Ghoul is not free wins. You're just bad at the game and don't understand counterplay or how to loop a pallet or window properly. Get better and then maybe you wouldn't boohoo so much.

Fairly certain this is ragebait. Don't really see the point in doing rage bait when we're all trying to have a proper discussion but whatever helps you sleep at night.

  • @Yamalive said:

If you feel forced to tunnel you made mistakes before. Instead of throwing the same tantrum as every killer in these forum, you could focus on getting a better understanding of the game mechanics. We dont need another gen speed nerf as long as its just too easy as killer to rely on "killer strategies".

I think being passive aggressive about killer strategy just doesn't help get your point across. I mean what about the "survivor strategy" of sit gens the whole game and hide/pre-run the moment you get a tickle of TR. It's just about playing the game as efficient as you can. It just so happens that survivors have a significantly easier time playing as efficiently as possible compared to killer. We have to deal with DH, DS, OTR, Basekit BT, Deli, and STB. While survivors have to worry about basically nothing.

Also, 85% of the killer roster has nothing to help them with proper macro play. Dropping chase with someone to interrupt a gen just means that person gets back on the gen you interrupted or they go back to the gen they were already. This is compounded by medkits and toolboxes being in every match and healing basically costing no time to do. So you drop chase to do macro play just to get punished even harder. It makes no sense. These are the reasons that killers tunnel.

Literally just played a match I had no chance of winning. I played as good as I good but it was literally pallet after pallet after pallet with a swf into 3 medkits so my injuries meant nothing. Like of course I'm going to tunnel to apply any form of pressure I could.

that's a good viewpoint. all around the game just needs more options for people to spread out. we are at the point where queue times can be sustainable, and luckily it sounds like that it is a path that the game is steering towards with the introduction of sandboxing.

    perhaps there's hope?

Hope does seem to be on the horizon. I mean I am honestly super excited for the introduction on 1v1. Not only will it be fun and a great way to get better at looping. I also think it will significantly increase the overall playerbases skill level which might help see some buffs to much needed killers, like Pig, Trapper, and Ghostface. I also think somebody will sandbox some form of ranked which is all I will be playing whenever it happens.

So we’re just gonna pretend like I.N.K. Didn’t happen? Ok!

They’re Actually just laughing at us.

I honestly couldn't imagine being this miserable and upset over something you literally have no power to change. I mean doesn't worry and whining about AI all day just tire you out and make your days worse? I would absolutely hate waking up if all I did everyday was worry about random nonsense I can actually just never affect. I mean I've got enough bills and other stuff affecting me directly than some random band(Which I love btw) using Gen Ai. Like how does worrying about this stuff and complaining about it bring you joy or make your day to day life any better?

unfortunately the nature of gaming has becoming very 'all or nothing'. in a game that still forces you to have to share a playerbase pool with those who see the game differently, its really difficult for everyone to find a way to balance chill gameplay and competitiveness.

that is why people have been fighting for a separation in queue types for specific playstyles the longest time. but this isn't going to make things any easier as people will go where they please. sadly, at least for the type of game that this is, i don't think there's any way to make it work for all. the best thing you can do is simply accept things as they are and just facilitate your own gameplay. someone will always disagree with your vision for how you see the game, but at the end of the day we're all here to play on dead by daylight.

in hindsight though, i think the removal of MMR regulation in event queues contributes to this issue significantly. people who are actively pushing to win are not being forced to play with similar players like they would be in regular public queues. others who are playing casually feel this.

I completely agree with this. I've been dying to get a ranked mode in DBD for the longest. This wouldn't completely solve the issue of people sweating hardcore in quick play but it would at least get a large portion of the mega sweats out of the general queue. I would love a ranked mode personally since I enjoy trying my hardest. I also think a ranked mode would contribute greatly to event modes like this because the people sweating will just finish their quests and go right back to ranked and most of the rest of the people left would be people wanting to interact with the event mechanics.

if they fix the bugs, twins would be unstoppable. but no ill just continue to get collision with a rock 6 inches away or be incapable of clearing a pallet when im soaring through the stratosphere

Being able to not clear pallets is honestly something that sets me off on Twins. I swear it wasn't this bad like 2-3 months ago. Now no matter how far away I am I can just never get over the damn the thing in time to get the hit or I just get bugged on top of it and die.

  • I would also recommend playing Knight at some point as well. Poison someone and then send a guard on them. It's a 100% guaranteed hit/down. I've playing Knight and he feels amazing. Also, with the insane 3-6 gens you can get in the event he honestly locks down an area so immensely well that survivors can basically do nothing to stop you.

  • I mean you don't scream when on a totem. Also, run Small Game. It's a free perk that shows you the placement of totems. Or if you have Jill, Counterforce. I mean totems are incredibly weak on most maps due to their spawn locations. I mean I go against totem Jason and my team pops all of his totems within the first 2 minutes of the game and go on about our day. Jason can't defend all of his totems are once. Either he defends one totem and chases a person or he goes between them never committing to anybody and nothing happens. Hell if he does that 1-2 gens will probably pop before he even gets 1 hook. I've been going against a decent amount of totems recently actually and I think it's great. A good break from the Corrupt, Pain Res, DMS slop that's been the last forever at this point.

  • No, he's fine the way he is. Nerfing the killer because people are unwilling to learn his counterplay is honestly the worst thing BHVR could do. Catering to crybaby's who do not want to improve at the game is why we have so many anti-killer basekit things on survivor already.

If it is not in the Patch Notes it is always safe to assume (at least at first) that it is a Bug. It also got reported on the Betahub:
    https://app.betahub.io/projects/pr-5642738318/issues/3195

But no date for fixing, but at least it is not marked as "Not a Bug".

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it is just a bug and we don't get told like 6 months from now it's an intended feature. Really frustrating now that it doesn't block the gates when it used to. Hard to unlearn.

  • I honestly get the most frustrated in this game when I play Survivor. When I play Killer I kinda just put myself in the mindset of I'm most likely going to lose so just chill and do your best. If you lose, so be it. Say ggs and go next. However, when I play Survivor I usually get upset at my teammates. Either enabling a tunnel out or not saving off hook when it's safe. Never touching a gen because they want to do flashlights saves or baiting chase with 4 chase perks and then going down 10 seconds later. I honestly never mind a tunnel out. It helps me get better at looping and is just the most efficient way to play Killer. I do get annoyed when my teammates enable the tunnel out tho. Like if you unhook me and see the Killer tunnel me and then next hook you unhook me in front of the Killer again after knowing they will tunnel, why? Why would you enable the tunnel out? I think I'm just a competitive person at heart and enjoy winning and playing optimally.

I understand that at the end of the day people wanna play their own way but most people play very selfish and care little to none how their playstyle or what actions they take in game effect their team and the others they're playing with when, in the end, this is a team based game. Will people make mistakes? Sure, everybody does. But purposefully giving up or enabling plays that are harmful to the rest of the team is something that personally just eerks me.

  • I completely disagree with nerfing Jason. I think he is the most balanced killer to have released in current memory. His movement power isn't OP or overtuned. It feels just right. His spears are slower than Huntress hatchets and if you run to location with no hooks reloading with him is a pain and makes him lose tons of distance. The only people I see complaining about him are people that are either unable to dodge his spears properly or are unable to loop efficiently. I've gone against my fair share of Jason's recently and I have had multiple games where I've ran them for 2-3 gens. It's just about absorbing his power and understanding the proper counterplay and implementing that into your playstyle. I mean he's basically Huntress with a smaller projectile and a bit faster. Just respect him like a 4.6 killer and dodge his spears like Huntress. I find Jason fun to go against and nowhere near OP or needing immediate nerfs. People just need time to adjust to his playstyle and power. I think the bigger issue is the new go next epidemic we find ourselves in. Most of my games I play as either Jason or another killer have at least one person DC because something they didn't like happened during the match. DC penalties need to be severely increased in my opinion. They should start at a minimum of 15 minutes. I've never played another game where people DC as much as in DBD.

As I've said multiple times on the forums, I typically enjoy my solo-queue on my end.

However, if they were to change the MMR system - I believe there needs to be more nuance when it comes to how someone falls into higher MMR.

Taking body protection hits, safe unhooking, how many gens have you done, how long you are in chase - I mean, we have all of these stats that can easily be documented to help others find proper matches that people on the forums seems to consistently struggle to find.

There is no reason why a Claudette who uses selfish perks and escaping solo should be placed with someone who does gens, takes chases, and actively pushes the game forward.

Going based off of win condition flattens the skill expression down - so, if they're going to fix MMR, the best thing that they can do is broaden the requirements. This goes for people who DC a lot, but people who normally DC so much will be low/mid MMR regardless.

This. I completely agree with this and think it's the right move. Your MMR should be tied to the actions you take in a match and not if you just escape/3k-4k or die/0-1k. I mean what's the point of all the events that can be triggered in the game if not to determine the amount you've contributed to the game.

I think this is why the old Pip system felt so good to play into. You cared more about the amount of stuff you did in a match. Taking chase, doing gens, healing teammates, etc. Forcing you to interact with different aspects of the game to attain higher MMR would just be far more healthy for the game in general, so I entirely agree with making MMR based on the actions you take during a match instead of one thing that you do.

  • @Royval said:

man do I miss the old grade system

Totally agree with this. It made the game so much easier to make lobbies imo. I mean they could've increased the amount of pips you needed to level up or something along that line. It also gave you a completely different thing to fight for in the game. The game wasn't based around just killing people and just doing generators to escape. It actually made people want to take chase, want to go for fresh hooks, interact with other aspects of the game which is far more healthy than just tunneling out the first person you hook and sitting on a generator for the entire game while never taking chase.

  • @random1543 said:

matchmaking and MMR rework needs to come with anti lobby dodging or it just wont work.

They have said in the past the killers leaving the lobby causes the matchmaking to prioritize filling the spot, why I suspect a lot of people have inconsistent matches or are in lobbies that they should not be in.

I can understand this. I can also understand lobby dodging to an extent. I mean I'll sometimes dodge a lobby when I load into a lobby of 4 people with 3-5k hours all with flashies and <3's in their name. I just don't wanna deal with it. But I do agree that maybe you should be locked into that lobby when you load in or maybe you're allowed to leave within the first 5-10 seconds and then after you can't leave the lobby.

  • I actually think this is a bug and not a feature. Don't quote me but I think it is.

    >I get out through the hatch in the majority of my games. You know why? Because my teammates are trash and I can actually loop the killer so they leave me after I've wasted like 1-2 minutes of their time

i agree with your first statement, there should be some alternative objective for survivors when 2 of them remains so they can actually put some effort instead of just hiding. I never said slugging is healthy, but game literally forces you if you want to guarantee 4k after a deserved win. Slugging at 2 survs is the most logical and rational thing possible if you are going for 4k. Only reason every killer doesn't do that because its massive waste of time. Thats what is actually silly.

Also at the end of the day for survivors its a team game, if your team loses you also should lose. It should't be allowed to take a deserved win for killer just because someone got unlucky with a team, well too bad bro, there are enough games that will allow your individual skill expression to matter more(or just play killer). "surv" side in the assymetrical genre isn't about that.

This is just your ego talking. I play killer more than survivor and I never slug for a 4k unless the survs were just being toxic. It wastes everybody's time. You won the game with a 3k. Who gives a ######### if one survivor gets to escape through the hatch? I get out through the hatch in the majority of my games. You know why? Because my teammates are trash and I can actually loop the killer so they leave me after I've wasted like 1-2 minutes of their time. Needing to get a 4k because you feel it's owed to you is just ego and baby mentality. Wah wah I need my 4k Mr. Entity I did so good I deserve it. Just end the game bro. It's not that deep. If you count 1 surv out as a loss than you're the issue, not the hatch. You're the one having unfun games. You are the problem. And from one killer main to another, stop it. You make us all look bad.

  • I consider toxicity to be most of the things you mentioned. Slugging and tunneling can be toxic depending on how they're done. Like you're tunneling at 5, it's kind of a dick move unless the survs instantly started bagging, emoting, etc. from the first chase. Then it's just returning the favor. Other then that I find standing in end gate forcing the killer to hit you out to be pretty cringe and little toxic when you can just leave and spare the killer the nonsense of stroking your ego. I find bully squads to be hyper toxic as well. If you're only intention when you load into the match is to make the game as hyper annoying and unfun to play as possible for the killer than you just suck as a person or a group of people. Even if you do no gens and all die in the end, it's still not an enjoyable win. Killers holding the game hostage is pretty cringe as well. I also find slugging for the 4k to be pretty toxic as well. If the survs weren't bagging or anything during the whole match, just playing normal and optimal, then slugging for the 4k is just cringe. You're purposefully holding the game hostage just to make yourself feel good about killing all the survs when you would most likely have done that anyway, even with hatch in play.

  • My unpopular opinion is DCing due to your own skill issue is cringe and just ruins the game for both sides. I don't understand why a person would load up into a match, get outplayed, and then just insta DC making the match hyper boring and one sided. If you're this kind of person. I beg of you. Please stop and go blow off steam on another game or something instead of messing up matches for people trying to have fun.

  • As a Twins main I love facing them and playing them. They're the rarest killer in the game that at this point I think I still get the prompt in the loading screen telling me I'm facing a Twins. They honestly have fun counterplay and are so satisfying to playing optimally. Placing Charlotte in the right place, using Victor on the correct surv, learning his distance to properly jump pallets/windows, learning Victor orbitals, etc. They have a lot of skill that you could learn that I just find them so fun to play. They can also be super punishing to play when you go against those teams that know how to dodge Victor and are just healing the entire game. I love them so much.

  • I don't think these add-ons are extremely OP at all. I mean the haste lasts like 1.5 seconds after your throw animation ends so you don't even get to utilize the entire 3 seconds. It's good up close when you can but somebody into a wall but other than that it's a decent addon to get a little more distance on a survivor. I haven't tried deputy badge but I mean if you're getting caught out by that addon it's a you issue 99% of the time. Just leave and don't wait around in the exit gate.

The problem is that when you reward lag, it leads people to induce those conditions, such as using a mobile hotspot or a VPN for an advantage. Your internet troubles or limitations, such as poor internet infrastructure, shouldn't dictate the experience for everyone. There are players in remote corners of the world who expect a great experience at the expense of everyone else. It's not fun or fair to see your ping at 20 and The Killer at 200, easily getting hits that shouldn't connect.

I don't see how this is my fault in all honesty. I have Starlink internet. I don't purposefully have satellite internet for an advantage. It's literally the only internet that I can have where I live. I've called every possible other ISP around me to get better and faster internet and I am unable to. I can understand being upset over people purposefully using those things for an advantage but I am not among them. I would get better internet if possible.
