Me too. I want him to be better and just felt I would share my experience.

I dont even bother with main event most games. It's not worth the slow down.

Trapper is 115% so that already makes him better than Trickster
He's worse than clown which is just embarrassing.

He's like the other side of the coin on Twins: Twins are an ugly killer model that lacks any aesthetic coolness, has a lame backstory, and is utterly devoid of anything that makes a slasher compelling; BUT the obvious playstyle for Twins is slugging, one survivors hate to play against. Trickster has style oozing from every pore, looks great, has a great backstory, and makes perfect sense as a slasher; BUT the obvious playstyle is trying to get knife hits, which is so outrageously awful and easy to evade that survivors are going to love every minute of it.
Both bad and not all that appealing for killer players, but for different reasons. Nobody gives a crap about some poor, victimized French peasant who's just misunderstood; but nobody wants to play a competitive game wearing training weights.
I thought there was no way bhvr would release a killer as bad as twins. I was sorely mistaken.

TLDR; Boring Killer without any impact on how a match is played for both sides without interesting addons to back him up, is actually the One-Trickster-Pony.
I was really hoping the Trickster would be a lot better from PTB, but his biggest problem still remains. He has zero impact.
Looking at what most consider to be "Bad Killers", like Legion, Clown or Plague, they at least have some way of slowing down the match via slowdowns or side-objectives, but Trickster doesn't have that. Now what about other killers without those like Huntress or Deathslinger? Well they make up for it with lethality. Landing a far range hatchet will deal damage, and landing a far range gunshot will remove all distance the survivor had. A far ranged dagger will do nothing but slow you down and maybe remove a health state if they run in a straight line.
Though the worst part is that Trickster is utterly boring. Once you play a few rounds, it hits you that there is nothing else going on with him, you just throw daggers, and his ability is just throwing more daggers? It's even more pathetic when the game classified him as "Easy" when he needs to be played completely on point for minimal gains.
I've played him for about 6 matches which is most of the afternoon for me.
Yeah, he needs help. His power is very underwhelming and honestly not really worth using moat of the time. And his 110% speed is totally unwarranted. He's a m1/mid range hybrid, he needs to be faster.
-
Just an update on my side; after I restarted my computer I no longer have the huge fps drops i was before. I don't know if steam had something to do with it or not because I started playing literally right after download.
It was just strange that it was fine last night and today bleh.
-
I'm slowly getting better with him. I've realized there are very specific circumstances to use knives for example if they're just out of melee range and in open. Otherwise I stick to m1. Still on the fence if knives are just overall not worth it though.
-
It's not really worth using right now because some people are saying it's still consuming knives and it slows you down because why not.

I've had nothing but a good experience so far, in fact I find the game to run a lot smoother since the patch, I'm actually able to run the game at Ultra with around 90 fps when before the patch I was only running at around 40.
EDIT: Medium settings before update was 120fps and is the same now, just to clear things up
I play on low settings to avoid fps drops like this. I don't have a stellar pc but it's definitely enough to run at least medium without issues. I guess I can try the usual reboot and stuff to see if it's any better

@Predated said:
Why is he slower in his throw mode? I understand him slowing down if he flurries, but why the initial slowdown? Doctor is slower when shocking, sure, but at least he's only slower when shocking people, let alone that his shocking interrupts people.
Clown had a similar slowdown and that was bad enough to be removed even though he could slow survivors and gain a hit, so why GIVE a killer who cant injure directly an initial slowdown, and then slow him even more?
Why is there such a long time between switching knives and main weapon?
Deathslinger is at least 10 times quicker and he can deal damage, so why such a long time between something that doesnt even deal damage? Let alone that Deathslinger gives deep wounds.
Why is his accuracy so low when throwing singular knives, I understand the flurry having low accuracy, but singular knives? Again, Deathslinger has much better accuracy and he gets a damage state out of it.
And on top of that, his Lacaration goes down during chase itself, meaning any lacaration gained is lost over time, meaning you sacrificed so much distance for nothing.
So TLDR:
- His throwing state speed needs match his basespeed, with Flurry slowing him down
- His switching animation needs to be faster
- His accuracy when tapping knives should be 100%
- Lacaration should not go down while in chase
That's all he needs to be a viable killer. Because right now, I wont even consider him to be viable.
This is exactly how I feel. My biggest gripe is all the unnecessary slowdowns he has when using knives which is to punishing considering his default speed and how many knives it takes to change health state.

I haven't played the new update yet, but on the PTB there was a huge memory leak issue for everyone in a match if Trickster was present. I really hope this is not the case for the live build.
Well that's just great 🙄
-
They did a really good job on his rework. I play a lot of bubba at rank 1 and can say he's definately above average on terms of power.
I'd tend to agree he's probably at tier A with someone who knows how to use the charges to the most optimal. For someone new with him he can be awful because of the sometimes janky saw hitboxes and not timing the charges correctly.
He's not op though. Good loopers can turn him into an m1 killer if they can get to the windows. You have to know the times where you can get a saw vs using the m1 because that can waste a lot of time.
-
Adding another +1 to morning play, est anyway. Queues are near instant, survivors actually know what they are doing and don't dc or die in 10 seconds, less killers face camping. Overall good gameplay.
-
Probably any of the builds that work with huntress and plague will be good on him as well the usualy suspects.
I'm thinking corrupt and bbq for sure. I'm not sold on iron maiden but it can help for reloads. Bamboozle maybe good to keep you in Los. Shadowborn is amazing on ranged killers.

Dbd is actually one of the LEAST toxic games I've ever played. I don't understand how people think dbd is bad when Dota exists.

I started saving endgame screen shots this month and played 50 killer matches and here are the results
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1P1WB3JFQ43M/1-jpg.jpg
i forgot to save around 2 or 3 matches but i assure you they wouldn't change the result that much at least not against me because i 4k'd in them so i'd say these are pretty accurate.
i also did not manipulate the stats in my favor, these are all the matches i played beit my lose or win.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XGRP2VJEYKFM/perks-jpg.jpg
the two most game changing perks in my opinion, dead hard is really annoying to deal with cuz it always extends the chase for atleast 40 seconds and DS as you can see was almost always in the game, even if one of the 4 had it you had to assume everyone has it. i seriously can't wait for the nerf, the amount of times i have been ds'd after hooking someone else or being forced to eat it is uncountable.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9J4QDRPZB2Y1/perks-2-jpg.jpg
i didn't really have a focused build on one thing (like only for gen regression or etc) so my perk usage isn't anything special.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/MBA2VA4HCMND/rankj-jpg.jpg
the matchmaking wasn't that bad in my experience as you can see here, the people matched against me were all close to my rank so i have nothing against the matchmaking to say. there were times were i could see some clueless survivors running around but again it is because of the flawed ranking system not because of the matchmaking.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CBJDOVKMBCWX/kk-jpg.jpg
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LLC9YNYERE6B/kkk-jpg.jpg
the killers shown here are my most used killers after starting gathering stats, 100 percent kill rate with trapper is a nice thing to see imo. with clown i don't remember if i did good or not but i seriously didn't like his rework other than him i started enjoying Twins more than i thought i would but i wish they're playstyle would allow more.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9CSU6OTWG5PB/es-jpg.jpg
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8ME3F5XFB203/eses-jpg.jpg
and here are the outcome and escapes per trial, i did a pretty good job so far not gonna lie.
and these were my 50 killer matches now i'll write some other detail that might be interesting or good to know:
i started saving these stats after finding a website to upload my matches which happened in the middle of this month, my escape rate would be lower if i had found this website sooner because i was on a 29 winstreak with hag (lost it to a 4 man deathsquad with 3 flashlights:(( )
as stated above i had a big winstreak with hag and therefor i truly believe after nurse hag is the strongest killer in the game (thank god you don't see a lot of hags in the game). she is like trapper and demo drugged up on blights GFuel.
My least favorite map to play on was haddonfield but surprisingly i never lost on it.
my favorite item for survivors to bring is flashlight (unless i'm hag of course) cus they're always urbaning around me waiting for that juicy FL save and are not on gens.
my kill rate might be high but let me tell you, i sacrificed my sanity to get it. don't think for one second it was easy. I came to the realization that it's not a loss that i'm scared of, it's the things that survivors say to me that scares me (sad).
i got toxic endgame messages after almost every match and not only do they not bother me they make me feel better but there was one instance that one guy was being racist to me and tbh it did hurt me but what can i do, i reported at least.
i never played nice or by the survivor's rule book for killers but that doesn't mean i tunneled or face camped but i still got ate their 57 sec DS's and got called camper and tunneler.
here are some toxic endgame text as a bonus <3

Also gen rush is a thing? survivors can spawn on the same gen and get it to like 40% when you get to it?
it's just flat out not true that you barely get value out of it early game.
I dont know if you misread my post but I agree that ruin (old and new) is good early game pressure. It's just just old ruin was better at it.
-
No, old ruin was nerfed. Today you can do 5 gens without even looking for ruin whereas before you simply COULD NOT ignore it if you wanted to get gens done.
I don't care how good at the game you were at the time you could not hit every single great skill check to ignore the regression.
It's debatable on whether the nerf was needed because like it or not it added some much needed early game pressure that killers still struggle with today.
-
@fogdonkey said:
Some random dude that you don't even know is doing it in DBD, why do you even care? It is not even real teabagging, because they are not doing it over your virtual dead body.
Or is it that teabagging reminds you that the survivor (or the whole SWF team) is a better player and you just simply can't accept this fact that they are better?
Its a form of BM.
For me, it's a little annoying, sure. I'll sometimes return the BM via head shaking "no" later in the match once the t bagger has used up all the good pallets so they can t bag and they end up dieing.
-
@DragonMasterDarren said:
for me, it's either loading into a lobby and hearing "wooooosh" or when a survivor t-bags after deadharding for distance to a pallet
what about you guys?
When the last survivor t bags on the hatch like it takes a lot of skill to randomly find it.
-
I'd love to see roles reversed for a day. Literally just give a killer power to a survivor and queue up. Imagine Meg with that huge forehead running poor bubba down with a chainsaw.
-
I guess I'm one of the few who's looking forward to trickster. I don't really care if he's top tier or not and play for fun, and he looks fun.
Wraith speed change is also super cool.
-
@FrostySeal said:
I say this because I personally think he's still a pretty mediocre killer. It may be because I just don't know how to properly play him but I feel like his buffs were pretty lackluster. Apart from the 2 seconds subtracted from his reload speed I feel like the antidote is just too situational and not good enough.
I try to use his antidotes whenever I can and try to combine it with the tonic but it just doesn't feel like it's enough sometimes.
Since his rework, he's very slightly better. The reload buff he got was well deserved but the antidote was not what he needed. It is useless in most situations.

You, a killer player, must have already seen this show before. Two survivors left, everyone knows where the hatch is, you down one of the survivors, the downed survivor DC and then the last survivor gets the hatch.
You may say "oh, but he DC, the survivor will already get a penalty and de rank". Yes but, for these survivors, losing points for them doesn't mean anything as for them making the last survivor escape no matter the cost is the priority.
So, this is clearly a problem and I want to purpose a brainstorm thread to make a solution for this. As for me, the only thing I could imagine is to block the hatch for some seconds before it opens, but I am not sure if this is a good idea. Now I want to hear your ideas.
How often do you honestly see this happen? I don't think it's a big deal honestly. I think in my near 2000 hours this has legit happened maybe three times. It's a real petty move and hurts the swf more than anything because they have to wait for the ban to lift to play again. Meanwhile I'm already starting my next match.

Whispers is to Killers what Spine Chill is to Survivors.
I love this perk so much that I really feel it when I forget to load it. It has a huge impact on any match I play as Killer and am wondering two things:
If anyone else feels the same about Whispers and why it isn't considered as OP as Spine Chill as they essentially do the same thing. Notify the Killer / Survivor of the opposition who are in the near vicinity.
- Whispers tells you if you can leave a segment of the map in favour of one that has Survivors in it, optimizing map pressure and minimizing time wasted in areas of the map there are no Survivors in.
- Whispers tells you which exit gate to haunt in EGC with the last Survivor left in a match with two locked exit gates after you close the hatch making it IMPOSSIBLE for them to escape unless they have a key.
I don't even pay attention to the sound, I just look for the Whispers icon as to weather it's lit up or not. It's that easy.
That's pretty much it, the two main functions of Whispers that I know of. How is this going under the radar? those effects are huge game changers.
Is there anything else I've missed about it?
Unpopular opinion but I don't think whispers is very good if you have a bit of game experience.
You can predict pretty easily where survivors spawn by searching in a cone shape opposite eof where you spawn. The new maps make it even easier since you can see across the map a lot of times.
If you keep track of gens being pressured survivors are most likely near by which defeats the purpose of whisper
Bbq, discordance, thrilling tremors give more tracking value is most cases.
I think it's good as a training perk to get a feel of where survivors spawn, but that's about it.

Its not going to be as good as you think. Stunning killers is already really risky due to latency, you'll probably going to get hit while stunned which makes that perk useless. Dead hard and sprint burst will still be better in most situations.

Bubba: oh I didn't see you there, hold on let me just..yeah...ok...chainsaw moved to the side, go ahead cutie ;)

They are not game changing anymore which is why you don't see them.
I'll slap one on sometimes for giggles for killers with good moris like ghost face or legion or bubba.
-
I literally just got this achievement 5 minutes ago and saw this thread lol.
It was with 3 other random, although I think 2 were swf. One had a key and had hatch offering at shack. Huntress didn't get any downs until end game and we all were just by the shack anyway and escaped.
-
This also happens with chainsaws which makes even less sense.
-
I'll be playing him quite a bit, already have 20k shards saved up and plan on having 1mil BP for launch
-
He probably has some of the worst addons in the game, but he's still a good boy.
-
Honestly, just play every match as "chill mode". Run fun perk builds instead of the meta. Youll have a lot more fun that way. There is no incentive to remain in the the top ranks and means nothing.
You can't take this game seriously; it's basically the team fortress 2 of horror.
-
Looks ok, but not sure if it will survive long after launch like most 4 v 1 games. Keeping my eye on it though.

You peasants have no idea the amount of skill it requires to urban evade around the edge of the map all game, paitently waiting for your team mates to die so that you can camp the hatch and rub your genius level gamer skills into the killers dirty face.
Of course I'm going to t bag at hatch! How else will the killer know I'm better than them!!!??

You're suppose to leave the map for 5 minutes after each hook, duh. Dirty camper.

Survivor to killer ratio during prime time. I'm on east coast time and after about 7 pm survivor queues are just way to long. Killer wait times are usually near instant though

Do you have an actual point or only straw men?
These threads from the op are quickly turning into a running joke.
He creates a thread about how super powerful clown secretly is, while borderline insulting people who disagree otherwise. Then people counter his argument or ask him for gameplay (because he is THE clown main after all). At this point op usually takes it personal and ends the discussion and the process starts over.
-
I'm using shards to buy trickster. I havnt bought a dlc in a loooooooong time.
-
So basically, you just use the antidote as you would the Tonic? Why not just use the Tonic like normal and still get the hit? Atleast the Tonic prevents fast vaults.

Seems like a bug to me. I believe each face only requires 25 sacrifices each. May need to post in bug forum.

Things never change.... I take a good maybe 1 month off of Dead By Daylight to try other games and it went well. I come back because I missed dead by daylight and needed a refreshment, 2nd game I get into it’s an oni who chases me the majority of the time then when he downs me, even though it costed him 3-4 gens decides to shake his head and beat me on hook like #########? I could understand if I taunted during chase or teabagged but I didn’t. It’s killers like this that deserve to get teabagged especially because it makes them look like an idiot at the end of the game. Same things go for survivors, don’t taunt first if you don’t wanna get beat on hook or head nodded. Rant over lol.
Killer was probably taking out his frustration of losing the match on you cause you just happen to get caught. People that do this need to take a break from the game and come back later.
