Old Mettle of Man was pretty high up there as well, but there was nothing like the old Decisive.
Old Ruin was just annoying.
-
I occasionally use it when playing Legion or Wraith with speed add-ons. Legion's lower FoV makes them feel naturally faster, combined with a wider FoV for what feels like even more speed. And Wraith cloaked with his fastest speed add-ons combined with Shadowborn is just something that you have to feel for yourself.

Trickster on account of being an actual celebrity. None of the others would really be worth much (maybe Artist, but people don't really know HER as much as they know her art, as shown by the fake art museum BHVR had), but Trickster could really be worth something to the right people.
Besides, depending on the circumstances in which I meet him, he might be one of the least likely to kill me right away. There's no way in hell he'd kill me for my voice.

No, you will learn to love Spirit.
Did you just tell someone who says they get anxiety from facing Spirit to learn to love her? I understand how precious she is to you, but it's not that simple and this comes across as cold and uncaring about peoples' wellbeing.
-
On this list, Spirit drives my anxiety up the wall, so I'm choosing her, since Plague's damned if you do, damned if you don't playstyle isn't here.
-
Vanessa would be my second choice, but Michael is pretty much the main protagonist of the series, even if we only see an 8-bit version of him.
Plus I think it would be interesting to see a living corpse as one of the Survivors as opposed to generic good looking Survivor #351.
-
Favorite: Pinhead is one of my favorite killers to play since Blight, and even he wasn't as immediately fun.
Least Favorite: The community as a whole. I always felt it was bad, but for some reason, this year was worse.
-
I believe it's a combination of things. He's REALLY hard to control, which puts people off him, and it isn't really strong enough to warrant such difficulty. Many of the things he does are handled better by other Killers, Survivors can deny him of his most powerful ability pretty easily, and the NFT stuff was just the cherry on top for a lot of people, out of either disdain for their existence or out of fear for being judged playing him.
-
Legion needs a few buffs to their baseline and they'll be mostly perfect (looking at you 4 seconds cooldown regardless). As is, they're a solid high-mid tier Killer when played right.
-
RPD is close, but as a Doctor main, those little office areas are actual death traps for my opponents. Haddonfield doesn't have anything that can redeem it.
-
Apparently, have fun playing Killer.
-
I have never seen a more spiteful, hate-filled, whiny community as DBD's. Some of you are fine, but there's a reason I'm not as active here as others.
And that's just the forums. Playing the actual game is an even more mixed bag, with even worse people.
-
Nurse - This was a time of three-blink basekit Nurse and Omega Blink Nurse. She's still powerful now, but she's somehow more balanced than that nightmare.
Hillbilly - The only rework that I feel shouldn't have been. The only thing really annoying was the back-revving and some of his add-ons, but base-kit Billy was strong without being overpowered.
Huntress - Other than three Iri-Head Huntress, she was balanced. And they fixed that (maybe not in the best way, but they fixed it).
Hag - When I started, Hag took roughly three seconds to place down a single trap. She got buffed shortly after, but that first impression was something I carried for a long time before she became one of my mains.
Wraith - He had been buffed shortly before I joined, but he was far from a good spot.
Shape - Maybe he should be higher due to how the playstyle was different back then and how little he's changed, but looking back, he wasn't all that great.
Doctor - My main was a noobstomper and nothing else.
Pig - RNG screwed her over then as it still does now.
Trapper - He was slower at placing traps and could only carry one.
Cannibal - The only thing he had going for him was an instadown that he had to charge practically right on top of you to have a chance at nabbing you.
Nightmare - I'll preface this with the fact that I was pretty damn good with him back then. However, I'm also pretty damn good with Legion, so that honestly doesn't mean much. Freddy was a Killer punished by Survivors making mistakes. Even the other low tier Killers could at least HIT a Survivor without their power, while Freddy's power was pretty much JUST to hit people. I guess there was the slowdown and aura reading aspects, but that doesn't change the fact that he barely had a power to speak of. Was he fun? I won't say he wasn't, because he was one of my mains and I hate playing the new version. But if I had to choose, I'd take current Freddy (maybe retrace the overdone nerf) over old Freddy any day of the week, simply because he at least isn't punished by the Survivor blowing up a gen in your face.
-
Descend Beyond: Blight is one of the top Killers and Felix has a decently sized following.
A Binding of Kin: Sure, Twins may have been forgotten, but I still see Élodie all the time.
All-Kill: It may not be supported vocally here, but if it was really a failure, then why do I see Yun-Jin and Trickster so much (even before their archive)?
Resident Evil: Another of your frankly pathetic digs at the chapter that brought the largest amount of players in DBD's history just because it doesn't live up to your absurd expectations. Oh, and I, again, see Nemesis quite often, which I wouldn't expect from a supposed failure.
Hellraiser: The only real reason this one went so far south was the Boss Protocol partnership that even many of the developers themselves weren't aware of.
Hour of the Witch: I see Mikaela all the time and, as Laluzi said, it changed up the Survivor meta for the first time in literal years. Maybe not in a healthy way, but it still did the thing people have been harping on BHVR to do for years.
Portrait of a Murder: We'll see how this one is in a few months time, but right now I'm seeing a lot of positivity around the Artist.

This didnt age well...
Well, only partly. We ARE getting a Saw archive, but yeah. RIP Stranger Things archives and surprising Bill archive before Ghost Face.
-
She lacks mobility. That's literally all that's keeping her from being S tier.
-
Artist has been added. I appreciate the simplicity of her placement, but there was still some reading between the lines to do.

I think Huntress is from WW1.5, according to her war.
That was from a time when we were debating who Killer 15 was going to be, since we knew they were going to be the oldest by a long shot. Victorian era was one of my guesses, but, as you see, I figured that was too close to Huntress (who was confirmed to be the oldest at that time) to be right.
Then Plague came out, way further in the past than the vast majority of people were expecting. Good times.
-
A bit later than I'd like because life is a thing that exists, but I finished Trickster's archive with my sanity mostly intact.
And of course, the Artist will be placed when she releases.

First off, Jonah is not a war criminal. According to the United States Naval Institute, "Accidents are not war crimes. Unintentional or collateral damage does not constitute a war crime, even when there are noncombatant deaths," and "The mere occurrence of unintended or accidental harm to noncombatants does not, and has never been considered a war crime." Jonah did not intend to hurt so many civilians, therefore, from every legal standpoint (which is the ONLY standpoint that this even remotely matters), he is NOT a war criminal.
The theme of Portrait of A Murder seems to be guilt for things WAY out of your control. Carmina believed she was guilty for her brother's death and her mother leaving, but neither of those were even remotely in her control. Her brother died because her father wasn't paying attention, and, while we don't know the circumstances of her mother leaving, it seems likely that her father was responsible for this too.
Jonah thought he was stopping rebels from overthrowing a young government when he decrypted the code. He had ZERO way of knowing that it was a decoy, but he still felt immensely guilty over it, leading him to divert money to those he hurt. He got found out, and his higher officer placed him back on the radio deciphers.
Could it have been handled better? Sure. How his story ends does ignore everything in Kwantana and his guilt is pushed aside. But he's still a pretty decent character who just needs a small touchup like that.

Does your Kazan estimate keep in mind the fact that he is Rin's Great(5x) grandfather (at least according to the wiki- they didn't cite their source)? 450 years seems a bit much for only half a dozen generations.
I'm going to be honest, Kazan and the Twins have a similar problem, where they have a lot of information to go off on, but practically none of it actually helps place them. But where the Twins have something that actually adds up, nothing about Kazan does.
I highly doubt BHVR actually did research into feudal Japanese history when creating him. As such, his relationship to Rin doesn't quite line up with what history tells us. Hopefully, he gets an archive that actually clears things up down the road, but right now he's in a similar boat to where the Hag was.
-
I'm insane, not stupid. Maybe as a Killer, because I do tend to get agitated easily (especially when dealing with incredibly self-centered jerks who think they are above everyone else), but even then, I wouldn't go too willingly.
-
They should not be removed, but they should be toned down a bit (say, 75% max for CoH, just as a rough example)
-
I've been a Doctor main since my second day of playing, back when he was considered one of the weakest Killers in the game (and he's still widely considered middle of the pack at best). Legion and Cenobite are my next two mains, and neither of them are considered to be very good. And I almost always have an absolute blast with them, whether I get kills or not (hell, most of the time with Legion I'm just running Shadowborn so I can feel super fast due to their low POV, I just take hooks as they come).
-
Min is her given name, while Feng is her family name (or surname). In most Asian cultures, family names go before their given name. As far as I know, China is the only one that doesn't switch it around when leaving their country (see Yui Kimura for example, the Cursed Legacy trailer uses it the proper Japanese way, but it got switched over for us).
The wiki probably changed it (erroneously, mind you) to be more consistent with the other characters, but Feng Min is the proper way to write it.
-
I'll preface what I'm about to say with the fact that I loved playing old Freddy. He was either number 4 or 5 among my mains (can't remember where I placed Pig), was pretty damn good with him, and I hate playing new Freddy (he is so boring).
Having said that, old Freddy was one of the worst designed Killers in the entire history of the game. He was a Killer that couldn't hit Survivors for an entire seven seconds after hitting them with his power, leaving him powerless while watching that generator getting completed in his face (hell, I've had a Freddy sleep me, accidently failed a skill check, and by the time he realized I wasn't falling asleep and put me back for the 7 seconds, I had the gen done and was already out the building).
He was a Killer countered by the Survivors playing badly (the amount of times Survivors would just stand on the other side of a pallet and self-care to fail a skill check while you couldn't do anything about it is laughable in how frequent it was).
On the flip side, he was also COMPLETELY invisible to Survivors. You could hear he was coming, but you had no idea where to go to get away from him, since he could either be directly in front of your path or on the complete opposite end of it.
Again, I enjoyed him, but I'm not so blinded by nostalgia like a certain someone is to think he was even remotely well-designed. The new Freddy has his problems, but he is well designed by comparison.

I think she is, as you say, someone like Wraith, in that the lore ended before we see her full transformation to a killer, but I think they left enough clues to see how she became a Killer and I don’t think it was willing: the implication that I got from the end of her lore and her animations is that the Artist is less Carmina and more her power itself, the murder of crows that seems to posses their own mind and desires(implied in the map description). You can see it in her animations, she doesn’t act like a person, her posture, sounds...they all are crow-like, so I think with time, she lost more and more control to the crows until she ended as a shadow of the former self, enslaved to the Entity and the dark emotions that she shares with the murder.
Adding even further proof to this idea is her eyes. They're not the normal glowing eyes we'd expect from a Killer manipulated by rage (like Wraith, Spirit and Deathslinger), but they are not human either.
They're a bit clouded, but look at them. Those are the eyes of a bird, more specifically, a crow.
Carmina is no longer herself, but, as Khorzad explains better than I can, a shell of that person overtaken by the murder of crows that kept watch over her.
-
I still face him with relative frequency (usually, it's two in a row, which is weirdly specific, but it's how my experience is). Granted, I'm not a high MMR Survivor (I'm probably somewhere in the mid-high average, I don't take the game seriously enough to be much higher), so that might affect some things, but he's LEAGUES more common than Killers like Demo (who's about to become even rarer), Twins (who are mystical beings at this point), and Plague (who I have yet to face even with her buffs).
-
In terms of detail, I'd give it to Élodie or Yun-Jin. Their stories really get you into the characters.
But I'd say the actual best is Adam. It's pretty simple, but it shows that he's just a genuinely good person in the few paragraphs it contains (which is a large part of why he's my favorite character).
-
Quite frankly, he's too difficult to use for his power level (and I say this as someone who places him at mid-high B-Tier). This combined with the whole NFT ordeal leads to people not using him(either because he doesn't feel rewarding or because they're scared of being harassed for using him).
That said, I still see him more than I see someone like Twins (I think a grand total of 7 or 8), Demo or Hag.
-
I've seen valid arguments of Nemesis V Pyramid Head made on both sides. It really comes down to one thing: can Nemesis physically kill Pyramid Head.
If you believe that Pyramid Head only dies if you atone for your guilt (or something along those lines), he wins. Otherwise, Nemesis beats him by virtue of being faster and stronger.
My vote should be enough to show my opinion on that matter, but it's honestly down to interpretation.
-
Spoilers I guess.
Man of Medan was pretty unimpressive honestly. And it would not translate very well, given it was all about hallucinations screwing with your mind (which, while it is the reason I main Doctor, only works when a living thing is the source, not a gas).
Little Hope, at its core, is a game about overcoming your demons. While it was way overhated for the "all in your head" thing it did, the fact that none of the monsters or characters besides Andrew are real would not translate well at all.
House of Ashes, on the other hand, has actual monsters in the vampires, with absolutely brutal kills and decent characters to choose from (Rachel may be the main character, but the fan favorites are easily Jason and Salim), and even the map seems like it could translate pretty well (better than a ship or generic town #523, and a cave system map is something we're lacking anyway).
-
I found him to be quite common (multiple days saw two-three of him in a row and others sprinkled around), but that was before the controversy, which I'd imagine is pushing a few people away from using him (out of disdain for him existing or fear of being attacked for using him).
-
Every time people say the PTB does nothing, I think back to the old Ghost Face. If it wasn't for the PTB, that version would have gone live, and that version was unequivocally the WEAKEST Killer to ever exist (just look up PTB Ghost Face, I'm sure you'll find it).
I'll agree that not enough feedback is taken from the PTB, and not enough bugs from the PTB get fixed in live, but I'd rather there be SOMETHING to test first before things go live than having a case where a Killer's power can be ended when their face is slightly above a rock in the corner of your screen.
-
Let's start with the original Kill... yeah, none of them. Lore-wise, the strongest Killers are probably Blight and Spirit. We know the Entity has a hard time containing Spirit's rage, but it still contains her through a promise of revenge. Considering how powerful onryō are in Japanese folklore (these things are TERRIFYING in their power), the fact that Blight managed to take her (and most other Killers mind you) down WITHOUT using the Blight Serum on himself shows that he's the strongest, and even he couldn't bring down the Entity. In fact, the Entity pretty much toyed with him every chance it got.
So let's look at the licensed Killers. Michael... Okay, where do people get the idea that he's even REMOTELY close to the cosmological horror of the Entity? Unless there's some weird thing in the comics, even in the timeline where he legitimately IS evil incarnate, he was put into a year-long coma after being shot all to hell. Is he supernaturally strong? Yes, but nowhere near the Entity's level.
Leatherface is just a slightly overweight guy with a chainsaw. No supernatural strength here. And while we're here, Ghost Face is just a normal dude and Amanda is probably the weakest Killer lore-wise, her strength coming more from her surprising ingenuity being a crackhead than physical power. The Demogorgon is stronger than these characters, but one of them got destroyed by a girl with psychic powers, something the Entity would have no problems getting around.
Freddy's dream powers make him a force to be reckoned with... at least with the classic Freddy. Ours is the reboot, where he isn't quite at the same level. He's still powerful on his own turf, but he'd be going against the Entity on IT'S turf, where it can screw with his powers however it feels.
I believe Pinhead was killed by a Cenobite Kirsty in the comics, though my familiarity with the Hellraiser franchise is pretty weak. But if someone close to his power level can beat him, the Entity would have little trouble. As far as I can tell, he's a powerhouse, but not quite cosmic in power.
So what about Pyramid Head? People seem to think he causes pain to the Entity when he carves into the ground... based on what proof? Seriously, where is the evidence that he hurts the Entity? He's also not the only one who entered of his own free will (in fact, he entered into an agreement with the Entity, similar to Spirit and Hag, they could have accepted death but didn't). And based off of certain "rumors," the Blight experimented on Pyramid Head as well as Nemesis (notice how I skipped him).
Yeah, Blight was able to bring down and experiment on a biological superweapon and the concept of grief itself. Without using the serum on himself. If this doesn't tell you how strong Blight is lore-wise, nothing will. And the Entity didn't just beat him; it obliterated his mind, tore him apart, dissolved him, reassembled him, generally just tortured him and finally broke him into becoming a Killer himself using his own serum.
TL:DR None of the Killers are powerful enough to defeat the Entity. If Blight could take just about every single one down without his serum and he doesn't stand a chance, none of them will.
-
I like Jake and Nea, mostly like Quentin (just needs some lighting adjustments), am neutral on Min and Kate (they're fine on their own, just not next to all the others), and hate David (there is no fixing him other than going back).
-
I was Doctor for a while, and I lost a bet with Candyman coming out (it was Blight instead), so I changed to Hillbilly for a month.
Beyond that, it's unlikely that I'll change from Oni, not because he's my main, but because of a running joke with my old chemistry teacher (who's surname was Oney, pretty much the same).
-
I don't want to support BHVR, but there is no other way to support really support DBD. As I said in the big thread that got made yesterday, it's the same with Netflix. I hate the company, but I still enjoy what they offer so I still pay for it.
And from the looks of it, the dev team themselves were blindsided by this, telling me it was the higher ups in charge who ultimately screwed the company over here. It's not an excuse (at least, not a good one), but for as much hell as we give the devs, they're not completely at fault, and I want to continue supporting them.
I was around for the blatant bait and switch that was old Mettle of Man (hell, I even bought Ash during that time, though not because of that, but because it was Ash), I was around for the color-blind scandal, I was here for the bug-fest that was A Binding of Kin, I watched the 5th year stream where they talked about an instant-ban feature, I endured the bug-fest that was Resident Evil, I'm going to keep playing Cenobite for as long as he's around, shamelessly wearing the $10 skin he has, and I'm going to continue supporting this game because it means too much to me.
Do I agree with BHVR? Hell no. Do I want to support them? Also hell no. But I'll keep supporting the game until it finally dies (and even then, custom games are still an option).
-
I try to stay out of drama like this, but since everyone else is throwing their two cents in...
I hold BHVR in a similar regard to how I hold Netflix. I utterly HATE the company, and would be more than happy to watch it crash and burn. Yet, I still use Netflix (have for a few months now), simply because it was (at first) the only way to watch the movies I wanted, and I kept it because it was a legitimate streaming platform to watch other shows.
If I could support DBD's development without supporting BHVR itself, I would have done so a LONG time ago. The company has never been one I held in high regard (frankly, none of them are), and this stunt is no exception, but I'm not leaving the game over it. It has too much importance to me to just give up due to some controversy. I'm both optimistic and very pessimistic that they'll bounce back from this with few repercussions, but no game has meant nearly this much to me. Think of me what you will, but I'm weathering this storm like I have all the others.
-
All that mattered was soldiering on into The Fog, continuing the mission: find S.T.A.R.S., exterminate S.T.A.R.S., and kill anyone who gets in the way.
This final line in what little backstory he has tells us everything. Jill (and Chris if you count him as canon, which the Resident Evil trailer seems to say he is) are Nemesis's primary targets. As far as he cares, everyone else is simply in his way, and they will also die as a result.
-
- Other perks do apply Bloodpoint bonuses, (Distressing and Beast of Prey immediately come to mind), just in specific categories instead of all over. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more perks like this, but technically not true.
- Believe it or not, Killer movement speed is a large part of how they're balanced. Changing speeds like this would require a lot of Killers being overhauled.
- No. This would easily become a balancing nightmare.
- Agreed. Trapper should have more than just bear traps.
- The Algebra of the Infinite Night would like to have a word with you, but in case you're too lazy: Looks - he was burned by gasoline as a child, causing massive scaring which he covers up with his cloak. Bell - created by his father and used as a warning gong in case the killing crews cam around (spoilers, it didn't work). Ultimate motive - He is DBD's version of the Punisher, a brutal angel of vengeance. From his glowing eyes, we can assume that the Entity forces him to see the people who murdered everyone he knew in Nigeria and members of his boss's gang. And since I saw you complaining about those as well: Weapon - He took his boss's skull and spinal column and placed them on scraps of metal. Skull on Bell - Likely Entity tampering.
- This is what makes Hillbilly different from Cannibal. He's a high-speed Killer who can be on top of you with an insta-down in seconds, but he gives up power around tight corners. And he isn't even all that slow to charge, just clunky.
- See #6.
- For the third time: balancing.
- As stated by the devs themselves, using the blinks physically hurts Nurse. Her blinking is balanced by the double fatigue she gets afterwards.
- No, this is what makes Cannibal an M2 Killer rather than an M1.
- I suppose I could agree with this one, but Clown is implied to be a really good chemist. I'm pretty sure he could figure out how to work it.
- Very few people call Huntress, Hag or Oni bad. Pig needs work and Doctor is only weak if you don't understand how his power works. Not an S-Tier Killer by any means, but at least low-A with add-ons.
- Agreed, there should be a third category for Killers like him and Oni that's taller than the others.
- No. Even with a limited amount of ammo, you would need massive side effects to using it or it would just be a normal damage. Either way, it wouldn't feel worth it.
- Agreed on the down, since they are so sluggish otherwise, but absolutely not on hooking. Twins camp enough as it is, they don't need to be MORE built for camping.
- Charlottes sickle is modified to be as painful as possible. As the recolor cosmetics say "The addition has little to do with practicality and everything to do with cruelty."
- I highly doubt Survivors will dodge every single time, but yeah, it will be worse.
- That is your opinion, at least try explaining why a serial killer who murders people and uses their screams as music all the while completely unmasked so his victims KNOW who he is as he's torturing them in the most horrific ways possible is cringe. If it's because he's K-Pop based, at least state that.
Most of these "truths" are misunderstandings of how balance work or complaints about character lore. 6/10 for effort though.
-
I have noticed virtually no difference, to the point I have to keep reminding myself that it's even on to begin with.
Doctor is my main, and before MMR I would consistently 4K without really trying. When I played him after MMR, it was pretty much the same when I would expect the absolutely perfect Survivors I got with Clown a little earlier (who then got traded out for absolute lemmings who might as well have thrown themselves onto my hooks in my third match).
I have gotten more chilled Survivors when playing Huntress (who I'm so rusty with that I can't hit the broad side of a barn), so I guess it does something but it feels like the same red-purple ranks I was at before on both sides.
-
The suit jacket buttons to the pants in the back (or at least looks like it does). That's literally it. Élodie's would make more sense as a set (even the torso seems to mention the skirt, which would imply it being a set that it's not), but I guess they only wanted one set and went with Felix for some reason.
-
When played properly, I find him to be high B-Tier-Low A-Tier.
I have found that his power is really not meant to be used in the open, but rather at pallet loops. A small thing I noticed is that the break chain and vault buttons seem to be the same, so I've been having a lot of success chaining injured Survivors at pallets and grab them as they try to break out. And even if you can't do that, there's still distance that the Survivor can't make as well as they usually would due to the chains slowing them. It can be used in a chase, but only at a short-mid range, otherwise the chains do very little.
Don't get me wrong, he has problems. The chains break too easily and the fact that he can't see the box without Chatterer's Tooth while Survivors have no problem is honestly a weird mix of balanced and straight up confusing. I think making it so he can see it at a short distance, making the box's aura not map wide at base for Survivors (but still further than 16 meters like the Iri Configuration) and making the chains a little stronger are all he really needs.
-
While I'll admit, my knowledge of Resident Evil is spotty, Chris punched a boulder apart.
David struggled against a guy a little bit bigger than him. Sure, he wasn't himself at that moment, and he did get his revenge, but the Ghetto Masher was still just a really big guy, not a boulder.
-
After playing him pretty much exclusively all night (from 5 to 10), I'd put him High B-Low A tier. Since SBMM wasn't active, I can still safely say I was playing at the highest rank. Yes, I had some rough matches, that's how high rank matches SHOULD work. For the most part, I was still consistently getting use out of his power and getting a pretty consistent kill ratio (about a 3K average).
He could definitely use some changes (the fact that he can't see the box at base is REALLY annoying and the chains still break a little too easily), but he's a pretty solid Killer.
-
Honestly, not the hardest Adept I've gone for since Plague (that dishonor belongs to Deathslinger because I can't aim worth a damn with him). The hardest part was hoping the server didn't crash right at the end.
The map was the Game (which seems to be surprisingly good for him given the obstacles), which really helped with the Plaything totems, and the three times Deadlock went off gave me some decent info. Plus, I dropped down right on top of the hatch and chased Jill away from the door long enough for Endgame Collapse to get her (with a Chain Hunt active since I happened to spot the Box).
It really just takes learning when to use his chains, because they're NOT meant for chasing, but rather for slowing them down at windows and loops.
-
Added Pinhead and did some fixing up of the Demogorgon's section (like I said I was considering).
-
He's annoying to go against when you don't know how to deal with him, but once you understand his limitations, you start to realize that he's a solid mid-tier Killer. Seriously, play him for a few hours (if you can access him, of course), and you'll start to see where his weaknesses lie (this goes for EVERY killer).
-
Oni has a weak early game, and if you can't get momentum, you're going to struggle. But you get that momentum, the Survivors are going to really need to try to keep up with you.
Take it from an Oni main, he's difficult to pick up, but once you do, he's one of the strongest killers in the game.
