I have never bought the “touched-entity eyes” theory, as using a single cosmetic design that could be used for any character for any number of reasons is not enough to confirm a theory that at best, is maybe implied for one Killer, Deathslinger.
Also, her power descriptions shows, that like many spirits and onryo from other fictions, she attacks the living as a sort of “revenge against the world” motive:
The Spirit draws her power from their wrath, haunting the living as retribution for her suffering. It doesn’t help that thorough her facial expressions, she is clearly trapped in a state of extreme emotion, so she is not in the state of mind to rationalize her actions.
-
I think she is, as you say, someone like Wraith, in that the lore ended before we see her full transformation to a killer, but I think they left enough clues to see how she became a Killer and I don’t think it was willing: the implication that I got from the end of her lore and her animations is that the Artist is less Carmina and more her power itself, the murder of crows that seems to posses their own mind and desires(implied in the map description). You can see it in her animations, she doesn’t act like a person, her posture, sounds...they all are crow-like, so I think with time, she lost more and more control to the crows until she ended as a shadow of the former self, enslaved to the Entity and the dark emotions that she shares with the murder.
-
In lore, moris are the Killer “asking” for permission to the Entity to kill a survivor, so it is less “stealing survivors” and more “ giving you this one” and I doubt that it would be permanently. There is nothing that seems to stop the Entity from just grabbing the survivors from Hell itself if it wants...or if there is a connection between the two places thanks to the Box, that it is not feeding from those emotions from those tortured here without needing it to be in its realm.
Same as with the Sun Goddess or the Mindflayer, Leviathan, if it is a thing with this Pinhead (as this seems to be movie 1 Pinhead and is referred as the ruler of Hell), doesn’t seem to be on the level that the Entity is presented, a cosmic parasite that is slowly eating entire universes.
-
Teachables are canon, perhaps not the perk themselves, but the knowledge that they represent being given to others through the bloodweb is canon, as shown in the quotes that keep appearing when you level it up:
Last night I got out of The Fog, in a matter of speaking. I arrived in a pocket of tranquillity where the monster was nowhere to be seen. I stopped running and was immediately filled with a strange calmness. I lay down near the bonfire and closed my eyes for the first time in what seemed like days. After long, deep breaths, I plunged into what I first thought was the darkness of a dreamless sleep. And then I saw it: the Bloodweb, a space between reality and abstraction. There is no sleep here, only torment. Even my own mind is shared and bent at The Entity's will.
I feel confident that I can inculcate my awareness of the Bloodweb to the others that are trapped here with me. Maybe they can unlock their inner strength with my help.
Survivors losing memories after each trial wouldn’t retcon that, as it still canon that they retain some knowledge gained from it, like doing generators, totems and the main rules of the trials.

See I understand the idea of a vampire killer, but again, it feels too obvious in this situation. The vampires seem too strong to be kept by the entity, maybe collaborated with. But I still think this is more of a Spirit situation, how her father was teased as a killer, but in turn it was actually Rin who was the killer. I think that the gang member who had her whole family killed by this vampire is a much more appropriate contender for killer. Afterall, she killed a vampire with pure rage and not a sliver of fear. I think that would make her a much more viable option, and a much more interesting one at that, honestly.
I don’t think the vampires are too strong for the entity to control or that it would need to control them (a vampire in the realm would exist in an eternal banquet of free blood). In fact, the implication that I got it is that they get they are drawing their powers from the Entity itself, it is what makes the most sense, given that the Entity is has been described as an emotion-vampire and is the only interdimensional horror that we know for now. I imagine that vampirism could have started by some cult drawing power from the entity to become like it and then transforming into vampires.
Also, it has a vampire as a Killer ,because the Observer saw the medieval city and the vampire from memories in the fog, meaning that the count there has to be a killer at some point.
And yeah, the mobster character could be good, but it would be weird to make her a killer but not a vampire, and I feel she would most likely be a survivor: badass, knows the supernatural and is said to have disappeared.
In fact, a character saw a vision of someone conducting experiments with the symbol that defeated the vampire:
Haddie closed her eyes and saw the twisted triangle symbol she had just uncovered in an ancient temple. Then she saw the strange circle slashed in half with a line that she had discovered all over the walls and floor of an abandoned asylum as though someone or something was conducting dark experiments in The Overlap on the patients. It was all very bizarre and new to her.
And the mobster was sent to an asylum, then adopted by a rich guy and disappear. I would imagine that, if someone is the killer, is the rich guy that maybe did the experiments.
"Needless to say, no one believed Candice and she was put into an asylum to shut-up and wither away. But eventually, some rich philanthropist took charge of her, and she was never seen again."
-
There is clearly a vampire killer coming in the future, but that entry is just one of the possible origins for it or the survivor, as we had other entries with vampires, like the twin mobs that face a vampire that killed all of their family, the vloggers fighting a cult turned vampire and of course, the video in which what seems to be Vlad or someone very similar to him.
I think that is the most likely killer, as the Observant has his memories, so is a confirmed Killer, has a design, voice(well, grunts) and could easily be the vampire of the other entries. The survivors could be many, from that entry, a new one or the survivor mobster that kicked the vampire’s ass, I would like that personally.
Of course, we already had several future killers implied in previous tome, like that female serial killer, so we could get her, a new original killer or a vampire killer that does not appear in any of the tomes. Given that we usually get a female killer after a male killer and viceversa, either we finally get that serial killer or it is a female vampire.

Probably because they’re still being cautious about how potentially oppressive Main Event could be.
Using your example, if a survivor manages to make Oni miss, there’s a window of opportunity to try and get away. Main Event, when active at opportune times with few LoS blockers is completely relentless. I can see why they’re still being cautious.
That said, 30 seconds is a much larger window than (I think) many players realise. It seems short when read, but in game that’s a long time. I almost always feel like I get LOADS done, or travel far while Dark Devotion is active for example, but that’s also only 30 seconds.
I think the 30 second window will make Main Event much more flexible than what some are imagining.
The issue is that you still aren’t capable of choosing when to use it, so unless in those 30 seconds you find yourself in those rare, very situational moments in which Main Event is actually viable, you are still better just ignoring it unless you are very low on knives (and most of the time, is just better to reload).
If they are that worried that the ME could be oppressive, they could just increase the amount of knives necessary, like you had to land 60 or even 100 knives, but you get to activate it anytime you want. That would make way more useful than it is now or with the “buff”.
-
I play Trickster a lot, he is basically my main, or one of them. The buff sucks,as I noticed in another thread, the nerfs are just too much for what little they are changing, yes, they are making him better in open areas, making it easier you can already do that, when you equip the add-on, so they aren’t changing much. Trickster still sucked with that add-on, and is going to suck with the buff.
Main Event is better, but it doesn’t fix what is wrong with it, unless they make it so you can pocket it and use in moments where it can be useful.
And now laceration is going to kill any progress that you make if they reach any high-wall/loop, which in some maps is very easy to do, so is just going to make him more frustrating to play (and I somehow have managed to find him fun).
-
We Trickster Mains had to wait 3 months for this...yeah, this is pretty underwhelming. Would it kill them to have a straight buff for a killer,?like, he is the weakest, you even noted that! Because, lets review:
-An already exiting add-on to base. Good, but it is not going to change him that much.
-The laceration nerf is just going to make him even worse in high walls and loops with no visibility, it is too much. Either don’t nerf it (the obvious choice) or just nerf it to 15 seconds, that is more reasonable than 10.
-The issue with Main event is that, if the survivor reaches a high wall lop or even something that more or less covers them, ME is even harmful than using base power, because the survivor can see where you are going and it is impossible for you to hit them. The buff is good, but for it and ME to be meaningful and not just be ignored more now, just make it like Oni, that you can activate it at any time and if you deactivate it, you don’t need to start from 0.
-“ Fizz-Spin Soda: This one is a slight tweak; the bonus has been decreased to the effect of 2 knives. The initial rate bonus granted before was a little too high which made it an obvious choice every time. “
So because the add-on was actually good and was used too much, you nerfed it? Whyyyy?
-The rest of the add-ons and the buffs to the perks are nice, that I have to admit.
But I still hope that we get a lot of changes from the PTB to live, because if not, the Trickster is going to remain the same as he was before this “buff”.
Seriously, just make his blade ricochet once in base, why is that so hard to understand?
-
As said, Nemesis doesn’t care and probably goes along with the rules of the trials like hooking and stuff like that because he knows that sooner or later, is going to get him some S.T.AR.S. I mean, the Entity can technically give him the entirety of the S.T.AR.S. squad if it wanted, including those that died in the first game, so it is a good deal.
-
My headcanon is that the Entity put that on him as a way to channel his power, he need those on to use his madness ability. But regardless of the initial purpose, at the current point the Doctor has developed sadomasochist tendencies and seems to enjoy his own pain as much as he likes to inflict it in others, so he wouldn’t take them off if he could.
-
Classic Freddy also varied a lot in power, depending on the souls that he had, but besides powers up like the Necronomicon in the comic, he never reaches “godlike” levels like the entity. So I think the Entity could still change its powers like it did with the Remake version

thank you for the explanation, and the pictures... but, how would you explain the fact that they don't run in DBD video? why are they walking if they re infected? specially after "seeing the survivors". IIRC the only times infected are seeing walking is when no survivor is on sight
I haven’t seen the video, but yeah, that is probably a mistake in the devs part, the zombies always run, no matter their state.
-
Upps, sorry, wrong thread.
-
Ok, this is the correct thread,it is not like Valve themselves have also portrayed their “infected” as zombie-like, with wounds that should have quickly killed them, much worse than that image:
I have not seen the video, but from the image nothing there seems too “undead” and you could explain it with the virus giving the infected greater endurance to wounds and bleeding. They are still living, they just can survive stuff that would kill people for longer periods.
-
I commented here my mistake, but I am going to take advantage and edit my opinion of the actual subject: I said before in similar threads and my opinion is the same.
I don’t think there are any killers that can beat the Entity in any way. Not Myers, freddy nor even PH, because the Entity is basically a living universe that you can’t stab or injure. The only thing that a future killer or survivor could do is escape the realm, which is what the observer is looking for.
-
@TAG said:
The general timeframe for a new Killer to be re-evaluated balance-wise is during the mid-chapter update of the next Killer. We recently got balance changes for Trickster, so even if they end up not being enough, I would not bet on the devs making further balance changes to the Trickster until then.
Yeah, I know how they tend to buff and revise Killers. My argument is that they should not wait to buff Trickster anyway, because he is still isn’t in a good state, and even just giving him small stuff would help a lot in making him less frustrating to play.
-
Eh, I disagree. I can’t understand why old freddy mains said that he was more faithful to his film incarnation and felt like you were playing Freddy, because the main feeling that I got from playing OF most of the time was powerlessness, regardless of the result of the match.
At the very least, current Freddy fits the “Dream Master” part of the character better, with him teleporting from blood, changing the floor snares and pallets. Old Freddy had none of that, he was just an invisible guy that needed to wait what felt like hours to hit you normally.
Yeah, as a DBD Killer, New Freddy is more boring to play, is more generic, while Old Freddy required a more unique approach, so I can understand preferring old Freddy in that regard, but he wasn’t good, nor he was more faithful to the character.
-
Hillbilly, Max jr. He didn’t deserve the hell that his parents subjected him to, nameless, locking him up, beating him for no reason and then using him as their personal slave for the farm...Is no wonder that he eventually snapped and kill them all.
And reading his entries in the archives makes his situation even tragic, as even after killing his paren, he is left with a mixture of hate, anger and sadness, trying to understand why they couldn’t just love him. We see that he knows enough about the exterior world that he realized that he shouldn’t have been raised like this, that he could have been better if his “family” gave him a chance or if anyone would have lend him a hand.
She loses consciousness. He feels bad and holds her limp body. "Why? Why did you hate me? What did I do to make you both hate me so much?" Her face is both beautiful and hideous at the same time. Evil veiled by beauty. He hugs her, harder and harder, wishing everything would have been different, wishing he were one of those damn pigs. They spoiled them with love, affection and time — all that time they spent with Duke and Donny while he grovelled nameless and alone in a dungeon built just for him.
His thoughts wander to his favourite TV shows. Ma and Pa let him have a TV to shut him up. They got tired of him smashing the wall and crying for them. Nothing worked. Not the gag or the rope that he always managed to get out of. Only the TV.
Those pigs. Those damn pigs they loved so much. Why did they have to love them so much and him so little. Had they treated him like those pigs he would have been happy. He would have been happy and he would have been something else. He would have been a hero like that boy who wore a cape and helped the world all because of how his Ma and Pa raised him.
Then everything changes when he speaks. The sounds upset his Ma. She beats him across the head, holds him down and pours hot sauce down his throat and tells him to never speak again. His Pa grabs him and gives him a lashing with his belt. His eyes spring open. Everything could have been so different had he not been born a monster. Born a monster? Monsters aren't born. They're made. Made in a crucible of hate, cruelty and abuse. Hot sauce and belts! That's the stuff of monsters.

I have never bought the idea that any Killer can threaten the Entity, that the Entity fears Myers or Pyramid Head. As dangerous as they are, they are just individuals, while the Entity is a literal living universe that has eaten the population of entire planets across the multiverse. You need to be close to a Pennywise type of being to be at the very least a peer or superior to the Entity.
Below that? The worst thing that they can do is that the Entity can’t manipulative them as it can with other killers, but as long as they do their job and hook/kill survivors, which Michael loves to do and PH has agreed to do it is not going to care that much.
Michael being pure evil is pointless, because besides the fact that is just an implication and never confirmed in the movies (at worst, he is a guy cursed to be evil by an evil rune in some continuities). And even him killing survivors I don’t think is full disobedience, because that still feeds the Entity and he needs an add-on to do that (in comparison, the Spirit, Hag and PH can do it under their own power/perks).
Pyramid Head “damaging” the floor is not really an attack, given that the Entity destroys and recreates the realms after each trial, and the devs implied that power was given by the entity, while the cages are the magic of Silent Hill. And even the town itself seems to be below to something like the Entity.

The trailer had the Umbrella Corporation pendant in it. Umbrella hasn't been relevant to the series since Resident Evil 3 (1999), so it would be pretty weird to include that if the Chapter is themed after the more recent titles.
Umbrella is still very relevant to the series. Resident Evil 5 talked about the origins of the company, the threat in Resident Evil 6 was a group called New Umbrella, in 7 Chris was working with a new Umbrella group to fight bioweapons, and they seem to be important for 8, where in the trailer that appeared in the showcase, we saw the famous icon of the company.

Yes, we'll have to agree to disagree.
Also, while it is fan-art, it's a render of Trapper's model regardless. I haven't seen those milky eyes on my Trapper.
You are right, I was wrong, the eyes were a product of the body that I had selected. They look normal in his default body.

I have an issue with those statements.
Not sure what's going on with him in that screenshot, but Trapper's actual model has regular eyes as can be seen on the wiki. He's one of those killers the entity tortured into doing its bidding, hence all the metal spikes driven into his body.
Doctor's eyes aren't entity-touched as you can still see his pupils, whereas with entity-touched eyes, you couldn't. It also wouldn't fit his lore, he enjoys torturing people in an attempt to satisfy his morbid scientific curiosity, he doesn't need persuasion or coaxing. If anyone's eyes are glowing purely for design purposes, then it would be his.
Considering the lore of the killers with completely black eyes, that to me just signifies that they are the ones who enjoy doing the entity's bidding, the blackness of their eyes shows their lack of empathy.
However, these are my personal theories about the eyes (though I do subscribe to the entity-touched one) and ultimately, none of this is anything more than pure speculation until the devs either confirm or deny it.
If you are talking about this image, that is a fan-art. The eyes of the Trapper are always like that, regardless of the mask(non-legendary of course) that you use, like here are the same eyes in his default mask:
That mask that I used before just allows a better look(and is one of his best).
You can see the pupils of Deathslinger in his trailer, so no, there are “entity-touched” eyes in which you can see them. Only Hillbilly and Wraith’s eyes are similar in design. And Max jr had them before reaching the Entity’s realm, as shown in the Archives.
I very much doubt that the black eyes means “lack of empathy”, because The Legion and the Trickster would have them, and technically several licensed killers like Myers and Freddy. And I would say that Leatherface is capable of empathy, as he loved his family and is only killing due to fear of the Entity.
Is all right, this is all just personal headcanon, my stuff as well.

They follow it pretty well, IMO.
Hillbilly and Doctor have bright eyes, and they don’t fit the profile. However, my main issue is that, as I said, a design choice and BHVR always does weird things with the eyes of the Killers, like Trapper’s eyes don’t have pupils, they are all white, like he was blind:
Huntress, Clown and Leatherface’s eyes are completely dark, which to me is even more unnatural than glowing eyes. By that rule, the Entity changed them even more than the others. The Trickster has yellow eyes for some reason, despite nothing in his lore or power indicating that his eyes were changed in any way, he just has them to look differently.

Your post makes it seem as if your theory and the entity-touched one couldn't coexist, but they do so perfectly. En3ermost didn't claim that all killers are manipulated into seeing things, just the one with entity-touched eyes, which, with the exception of spirit, don't clash with your theory.
Yeah, but my personal opinion is that there is no enough evidence to prove the theory for any killer. I also don’t think that the “touched-eyes” are really a thing, that they are most likely just a design choice for the characters and don’t really follow the pattern.
-
I don’t believe the “entity’s touched eyes” theory or that killers are manipulated into seeing things, but is true that you could make an argument that some killers are seeing things differently, like Deathslinger and Wraith, but others are almost confirmed to not be manipulated in that regard. I don’t think that the Oni is seeing anything, as he knows that he is trapped in the Entity’s realm and that it is manipulating it to raise emotions out of him, he is just too enraged at his situation to care, Plague as mentioned, doesn't need illusions, she is just obeying her god and if it commands you to die, you die.
Once opulent and well-tended by priests, the shrine was abandoned for unknown reasons. Season after season, the harsh and unforgiving weather corroded its grandeur. Paths that welcomed weary travelers, were now thick with vegetation growing damp and unrestrained. The sculptures were a haven for moss and lichen, concealing a scratched and brittle stone.
Kazan shuddered with rage as he stepped into the area. Unable to restrain himself, he unleashed his might on a statue atop the shrine, clubbing its arms and head to pieces. Even after he left, a rot seemed to pervade the air. The chime of bells played softly on the wind, as everything around them crumbled. Torn from Kazan's memories, the shrine now stood on the estate of this childhood home - a trick by the Entity that infuriated him even more.
The Spirit, I think as an onryo is too lost in her extreme feelings of rage and revenge to understand what she is doing, she is just lashing out against the living. Hillbilly is similar, he envies and hates others for not suffering like he did, and we know that he kept killing strangers that came into his house, so this would be similar. And in this camp the Twins are as well, as both of them are extremely hostile to strangers and other people.
Beings like Blight, Hag, Pyramid Head and Demogorgon are too alien(PH and DG) or trapped in their hunger (for blood and serum) to need manipulation of any kind.

I thought the damages to trapper were caused by the Alchemist when he trapped him in his basement to experiment on him
We see in the mobile cutscenes that Trapper was tortured for not obeying the entity, so he sees what is really happening. Any killer that has been tortured is unlikely to have been manipulated into killing, which includes Leatherface(his addons mentions being tortured), Doctor and Nurse.
Then there are people like Legion, Trickster, Ghostface, Clown, Huntress, Shape and Nightmare that are just ######### enough to not care about killing innocent people.
-
I think is a mix of both. As seen in the tomes, Evan had very complicated feelings towards his father, first hating him for his abuse, but eventually started to admire and respect his authority, but he may never have lost that hatred for his father. So he adopted his phylosofy of “the weak are just worms that you can crush and abuse at will”, which Evan enforced on the workers at first...and perhaps he started to project on his father after he started becoming senile.
And regardless of what caused the mass murder of the workers, I think that was the last straw for Evan, that finally decided to take care of his father, maybe out of revenge for his abuse, maybe because he was no longer the powerful man that he admired or maybe he just wanted to mercy kill his father.

Nice theory! I also think that he travels between the realms and camps somewhere in a corner for a bit, similar to Clown but much more discreetly and for shorter periods, and then comes back from time to time. And I think that would be the best explanation for the certificate, but if not, it could also be that he and Azarov met at some point and it is something from the past.
I thought about that idea, that the diploma was a result of a meeting in the real world between Azarov and Danny, but it kind of feels weird. Besides the timeline and locations, the issue is that I don’t know what a serial killer journalist would want with a mob boss or why that mob boss would have a random diploma of him in his office.
The only thing that it occurs to me is that maybe Danny struck a deal with Azarov to hide the corpses of his victims, but that is still doesn’t make much sense, because Ghostface wants his victims to be found, so he can gain popularity.
-
Good catch! My bet for why there is a diploma of Danny in Azarov's Resting Place is that, lacking a map of his own, he travels different realms as he kills. And I think that Ghostface is the kind of person that would leave mementos from his past around, just to show off.
-
I don’t think that the entity hasn’t shown the ability to copy the personality and movement of a human being like Victor, that is still shown to have a bond with Charlotte in several of their animations. And it would be kind of a waste to use a puppet to control one killer instead of having the raw emotions of two killer. I think he is Victor, but it was corrupted by the entity so Charlotte will do its bidding.
And I am not sure if the trance is canon or just a gameplay thing, given that Charlotte seems to be fine when Victor goes out in the mori or the trailer. It could happen maybe because Charlotte seeing what Victor is seeing.
-
They have their own music, it seems that is just bugged from the Killer's point of view, because I hear it as a survivor:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr6HYjeLy_U -
None, as they have said. If 4 survivors tried to ambush Susie, it would end with 4 corpses and at a best a brushed Susie. The Killers have proven to be strong enough to break wooden doors and pallets with two light kicks, imagine what they could do a human body. So you can’t overpower them, even attacking in a group, because one hit by them would be enough to break bones and disable one of the survivors, and trying to take away a weapon from a person that is stronger than you is not going to end well.
Also, people are sleeping on the hag, she literally ate an entire village of cannibals! Four survivors are nothing but a light buffet compared to that.
-
Dying is not an issue for the Entity, survivors coming back from the trials are a proof of that, so the important thing is if the entity decides to revive the person as they were or not complete the job and bring them back as some sort of an undead. So there is a difference between the killers that died in the past but are shown to be alive in the present thanks to “Death not being an escape” and those that are shown as actual undead, living corpses t hat we can’t say that they are alive, no heart pumping, no brain activity, nothing. And even in that case, they don’t need to have died to become undead, given that the Entity can transform people into all sorts of things. But in my opinion, the Killers that are specifically undead are these:
-The Spirit
-The Nurse
-Freddy Krueger
-The Plague: Yes, you could say that she not a zombie, that despite her disease, she is being kept alive dying thanks to the Entity, but if half of your body is nothing but necrotic and decomposed flesh ,I think that you qualify as an undead. Also, a the official lore images, we saw her in the caves looking like a corpse:
-Some of the Blight outfits may qualify as undead, like the Wraith one having a hole in his chest, but the serum changes theie biology so much that you don’t know what exactly the transformed killers are.
-The Trapper outfit “Seaside Psycho” that looks like a sea zombie, showing a hook in his head.
-The Wraith outfit, “Weathered Scarecrow”, it may be just an animated scarecrow, but it is clearly not a living being anymore.
- It is possible that the Hag may be an undead, less of a person that was revived in a wrong way and more the Entity transforming her into something that you can’t consider as “alive” anymore, but is hard to tell.
And Killers that have died in the past but have returned to the world of the living:
-The Pig: My interpretation is that she really did die, but the Entity just revived so fast that she didn’t realize it.
-The Oni: I think he died in the backstory, but the Entity just brought him back to life, fully transformed as the Oni.
-The Doctor outfit from the previous tome, “Naval Warfare”, specially mentions that he came back to life. Although he could be an undead.
-The Demogorgon?: This is only if this demo is meant to be the same Demogorgon of Season 1, that Eleven killed in the finale. I think the Entity has the means to bring it back if it wanted to do so, but it could be also just another random Demogorgon from the Upside Down.
-
It would be weird for this to be non-canon or another Talbolt, given that has never happened before and all of the archives have been about his journey, so it wouldn’t make much sense.

Blight form change to True Blight because the Cankers blossom within him, the Cankers turn into Pustulas during the Entity yearly blight but it dies after the event is over. The serum in Blight veins reacts during the event and turn him into True Blight, but he goes back to being normal Blight after event end like how it is with Pustulas. The Entity deal with the same thing each year.
The inconsistency is that we saw the events in which Talbolt transforms into the normal Blight, and they must have happened before, so it wouldn’t make sense to have him just revert to normal Blight when he has to become the normal Blight yet. He could regress back into a human, but I don’t think that I like Talbolt being in the void, becoming a Killer as True Blight, going back to a human and to the Void and then becoming a Killer again. Just feel redundant.
As mentioned above, I think this is a mental illusion that shows him subjugating to the power of the Flower and the Entity, maybe he eventually becomes True Blight physically later, as it said in the description, due to an overdose of serum, but this is him succumbing to the need of the flower to become a killer.
And the Blight can still think and act, even if he is mostly a drug-addict in a never ending high moment, because we know that he is experimenting with survivors, that he uses the cane to fool people and even in the True Blight descriptions, he question if he is under control of the Pustula now.

The guard wasn't innocent because he was supporting the Warden and his corrupt schemes, same way Nazi soldiers weren't innocent for upholding the views of the Third Reich. The Sheriff falls into the category of collateral, same way the corpses of Glenvale fall under. Also, there's no reason for a lawman to interfere with the then legal practice of bounty hunting under any pretense unless it directly affected him, which makes him a threat to the practice itself, and a threat that the Hellshire Gang dealt with properly.
Caleb didn't care for money anymore than you or I do to support ourselves. It never was just about the money, it was about making brilliant inventions like his father wanted to do but couldn't due to ethnic prejudice and he tried to sell those inventions to Bayshore because that was the only way he could realistically support himself. The premise of money completely fell to the wayside the second Caleb found out he was screwed over and then his sole purpose became revenge through any means. Also, you seem to think the Hellshire Gang had a massive murder boner and Caleb was literally all about killing innocent people but had his hand forced the other way by the Warden. Since you enjoy quoting addons so much, here's one that literally poses the question about whether or not the Hellshire Gang are outlaws or heroes.
"Hellshire Gang: Justice Seekers or Outlaws?" — Glenvale Gazette headline
At this point, I'm starting to think you just want Caleb to be a one-note "argh, I kill people because I'm angry all the time for no real reason" even though he's so much deeper than that. How can you say he has no problem killing innocents when he was careless enough to let the man who stole everything from him live? A grueling and miserable life Bayshore had afterwards, but if Caleb was so down with killing, he would've been one hundred percent sure to finish the job. Plus, the deal with the Warden was about getting Bayshore locked up because that was a worse fate than death. Seems like killing people without any care or concern really isn't in the 'Slinger's MO, isn't it? We done here?
You really seem to hate that I have a different interpretation of a character. No, I don’t see Caleb as a one-dimensional character or someone that kill for the sake of killing or even lacking on good qualities, I think he is more like Oni, a person that ruined his life due to his nasty side, but has his own reasons for killing and doing violence, he is not a serial killer like Ghostface, but someone that due to the time period and the circumstances in which he lived, became violent and sadistic. And, seriously, when I have said that Caleb and his gang were all about killing innocents? My argument is that he has no morals claims about killing innocents if he needs to do it, so they probably wouldn’t care about collateral damage or about people that get in their way of the bounties, but that is it, not that his gang goes around killing innocent for the fun of it, and how knows, may be he doesn't like killing kids.
Caleb and his gang are not men of the law, they are hired by a private citizen to help capture fugitives of the law, but the lawman is an employer of the government that is above the gang and the citizen, so there is no hiding the fact that regardless of the reason, they murdered an innocent. And the prison guard, yes, his boss was a corrupt #########, but Caleb is not killing him for “supporting the corrupt schemes”, given that Caleb did way more than the guard in that regard, so his main reason for killing him is that he was in his way to get revenge.
The quote that you show literally shows that there was doubt in universe about their actions. Yes, some may see them in a positive way, but there was clearly enough negative view for them to be considered by some as outlaws, so they must have their fair share of shady actions for that reputation to start in the first place.

As someone who's read more dusty literature for his college lit degree than most people, I'm suggesting you reevaluate your point of view because it'll probably lead you to the same conclusion as me and I doubt I'm wrong in any way about 'Slinger's lore. Name one instance where Caleb killed an innocent person voluntarily and didn't intentionally go about his business targetting Outlaws and Criminals only, in a non-lethal way after the laundromat robbery. You can't. Plus, Caleb never cared about the monetary aspect of his job. He did it to get revenge on Bayshore but was being played. Imagine if that was some sort of motif in his story that was replicated over and over and over and over again... Hmmmmm.
I can do better than point out one instance in which Caleb killed an innocent, I can point out two: the prison guard that Caleb brutally killed for just doing his job and a sheriff that the gang killed for “interfering with their job”:
Marshal's Badge: A silver badge taken from the corpse of a lawman in Arizona Territory who interfered with the Hellshire Gang's bounties.
In a thundering gallop, they smashed through the prison entrance, shrieking like bloodthirsty marauders. A guard raised his pistol, but hesitated. A spear punctured his chest. Caleb grabbed the man's head and slammed it against a prison cell until it spilled through the bars.
And didn’t care about money? Of course he cared, that is the reason for why he started working for Bayshore in the first place, and he was angry because Bayshore was getting rich at his expense. Yes, eventually, his need for revenge became more important, but that doesn’t mean that he never cared about money at all. And in the lore, the only reason that we are given for Caleb to take people alive….is because that was the deal with the warden, nothing more:
He spoke of something greater than monetary wealth — political capital — and that his connections could have Bayshore framed and rotting behind bars for life. He had only one request: make him rich. Fill the prison. Use ingenuity to bring outlaws in alive.

Caleb made it very clear that he took live bounties only, sadistic or not, the man does not voluntarily kill innocent people. Death in the crossfire as evidence by Glenvale, sure, but the man intentionally made the Redeemer less lethal and went about his bounty hunting in the most efficient way he could. Dead people don't fill up prisons, especially dead innocents. Plus, the entire story is riddled with the motif of unwilling servitude. As I said, he served Bayshore and was screwed because he didn't know the full picture, he served the Warden and was screwed because he didn't know the full picture, and now in the realm of the Entity, he's being screwed yet again. It's a trait of good writing and it's something I recommend you reevaluate.
That is one way of interpreting the character(and please, don’t lecture me about “reevaluating my point of view” because I don’t agree with a fan theory), but I don’t think that is the main theme of Caleb, that I never felt that it was “ he was being screwed by others”, that is part of the character, but that is just the trigger for the main issue that truly destroyed his life, his rage and his lust for revenge, like is something that its pointed out over and over.
The Deathslinger is a vengeful Killer.
A familiar sensation coursed through Caleb's blood, feeding the sharp pain in his heart. Rage overwhelming him, he burst into Bayshore's office and smashed his face into a bloody stew.
the picture, a disfigured Bayshore proudly shook the warden's hand. Caleb's heart pounded with rage, blood swelling as if it would burst from his veins.
A Hex that lashes out upon its destruction. Those who cross you will be punished.
"You called death to your door the instant you done me wrong." — Caleb Quinn
"You'll be met with a fierce reckoning, swear it on my mom's grave." — Caleb Quinn
"There won't be nothing to fear soon. Till then, fear me." — Caleb Quinn
An inventive and volatile engineer, Caleb derived all his passion from his groundbreaking designs. When a wealthy man stole his life's work, revenge became his sole priority.
A creative inventor who squandered his talent and skill pursing vengeance.
After being left for dead, he suffered a grueling surgery that left him with a limp. He swore vengeance.
Some wrongs must be washed in blood in order to be forgotten. And even then, they can never be forgiven.
The more people died, the more he thirsted for blood. His need for revenge was his food, faith, and fire. Nothing outside of it existed.
He made an effort to make his weapon less lethal, because that was his job, not because he cared for innocent lives, a quality that he has never shown to have. His job was to take bounties alive, regardless if they were innocent people or bad ones, and it obvious that he only care about doing that job well and efficient, because he would gain more money as a result, not because he cared about killing innocent people.

Caleb having glowing eyes is the most definitive of what they represent. His lore literally says he was shown the people he hated the most and that's why he decided to kill for the Entity. Caleb was a bounty hunter, he wasn't a murdering outlaw. If he wasn't being manipulated by the Entity, there would be zero chance in hell he'd be willing to kill people, let alone harm people, that are not criminals and have done nothing wrong. Plus, it's poetic irony that Caleb is being manipulated a third time by someone in power above him, first Bayshore, then the Warden, and now the Entity.
But that only shows that the Entity is showing them illusions to make him enter the Realm, not that is all that he can see. We see the same tactic with Zarina:
She inserted her hand. Fingers landed on a piece of cold, cracked metal. She fished it out... an old, rusty wrench. A damp chill ran down her spine and she looked down; a man lay at her feet, bleeding, his limbs contorted and his eyes, dark and terrified — her father's eyes. A pool of crimson blood on black pavement. Paralysed, black fog filled the cell and she shut her eyes to push these nightmarish visions out of her mind.
Felix:
With dawning realisation, Felix staggered back as he watched his father emerge from the fog. His legs felt weak, and his rising heartbeat thrashed in his ears. It was him. It was really him. His unborn child would know his grandfather, and he could finally show him how much he had accomplished since he disappeared. They stared at one another for a long moment. Then his father gave him a look of disappointment, turned his back on him, and proceeded to walk away. Over his pounding heart, Felix chased after him and was never seen again.
And with the Blight, when he was still human and mean to be a survivor:
Stained with blood, he witnessed a miracle appear before him—a magnificent field of lush, orange flowers. The whispered voice beckoned to him, urging him to enter the field and discover worlds and dimensions beyond human comprehension. For a moment, Talbot felt the sense of wonder he possessed as a child.
Caleb would also figure out quickly that he is just killing the same people over and over, so the illusion will not work for long. Yes, he was a bounty hunter, but he was a very sadistic and brutal man that did not seem to care about the fugitives that he captured, like one of his addons shows:
Angered with a bounty who fled twice before, Caleb twisted thorn branches onto a spear and let it loose.
So he would not care about killing strangers for the Entity, specially if he is given rewards (like the iridescent coin) for it.

Beyond the idea that the entity is controlling what the killers with glowing eyes see (which I don’t believe), and besides aesthetic reasons, I think that there could be other reasons for that feature depending on the killer:
-Wraith: The eyes could be a result of him entering the Spirit World when he becomes invisible,so that may be a connection to that plane of existence. The Nurse also uses the Spirit World, but she is noted to be blind or “lacking eyes” and she doesn’t fully enter into it, so she has a reason for lacking the glow.
Hillbilly: Here I agree that is probably due to him being trapped in darkness and his need to adapt to the light, both after escaping and in the realm, where he is the one killer that is immune to flashlights.
-Spirit: Similar to the Wraith and besides the eyes being a result of her undead nature, her ability to enter the Ethereal Realm (which distorts her vision) maybe what caused the glowing, her eyes needing to adapt to the other plane.
-Doctor: Here I agree, probably a result of the use of his powers. Same with Blight due to the Serum..
-Deathslinger: Now, this is a bit of a strech, but I think that the Entity may give Caleb better vision to better hunt the survivors in the realm, due to the fog and all. Yes, it is not much, but of all of the killers, Caleb is the one that has the least lore reason for having glowing eyes.

Here is the most detailed list:
The Trapper: The Trapper is the only killer who does not kill, he kills because is forced. He does not listen to the entity and rebels
whenever he can. In fact, he is the one who was most tortured.
The Wraith: The Wraith isn't exactly a killer. He killed without knowing it. The only victim are the hit man and his boss. It is corrupt. From anger. He sees them instead of the survivors.
The Hillbilly: He was not tortured. I don't think he's ######### in himself. This is noticeable. From an addon I deduce that he is afraid of the entity itself. I believe that. Maybe it's corrupt. Let's say about a killer who was locked up for years. But then it came out. I don't think he would like to hurt. I believe he sees his parents. Here is the corruption.
The Huntress:
I believe she, in fact. He loves to kill. To hunt. So neither of them. She has a child's mentality. I think he loves being in the realm.
The Hag:
what I infer. It's just that, he loves killing. She is hungry for revenge. I don't think it's human in itself. Now… nothing is left of her.
The Doctor: The doctor was tortured, yes. Here. He is not quite, forced to kill. When he was human he was forced, manipulated. By dr. Stamper. The tome tells us what happened, when it prints, now. Teaching him everything, he sent him to the farm for a little test. Then ... he became what he didn't want, a monster.
Sorry, but the Huntress is not childlike, we see her point of view in the tomes and that was not all how she thought. She just lacks empathy and emotional connections to other humans (besides little girls), due to her living isolated for most of her life, but she doesn’t have the mind of a child at all.

I think the main issue is source material. Sure there are "childlike" iconic killers.....namely only really 1, that stick out enough to even be recognizable to a franchise. They could come up with their own midgets or dwarfs or whatever, but I don't think it would have the same punch as some of these licenses because to be quite frank.....the only reason people are scared of my buddy dolls is because they resemble Chucky which without said movie for context is not a horror character at all, and turns into some paragraph about a voodoo doll....
Then you have children of the corn, who are Iconic movie wise and the only one that sticks out for most people, but.....theres dozens of those kids outside of the 1 who's the main antagonist and more in line with the devil.....but what the hell would his normal ass even do? He's literally just a normal ass kid. (since the movie is technically a psy thriller).
Then you have the Exorcist and The Omen.......The Omen "MIGHT" work.....and thats extra emphasis on "MIGHT" work, but lore wise it would require the entity to be more powerful than the devil since both characters are directly tied to the king of demons.....and I'm not 100% sure the power levels match up tbh. And as far as the Exorcist goes.....what would be her signature attacks? Vomit?... we already have plague, on top of this the possessed person in the exorcist movies would be too powerful for a trial.
So yeah I dunno Trick R Treat isn't even a kid or human, Pet Cemetery kid runs around with a scalpel.....wow.....spooky....Firestarter has really cool powers, but her resolution in the movies is to be a good guy, Wicked Little Things might work but what makes those zombie kids powerful is the fact that theres more than 1 of them. They'd have to really reach to pull some of these characters up to the level to compete in DBD.
To be fair, besides Chucky, I was thinking more on a OC child killer, because with that, they have the freedom to give them any power. I remember reading a fan concept of a child killer in reddit that was interesting and I think Identity V has a child killer hunter as well.

October 2018 was the first time we've seen the Alchemist, who as we now know, experimented on the other Killers. Hence the "Are we teasing the thing?" from Farah. The outfits are also designed a bit in advance (though I highly doubt as long as chapters) so Dave's quote about making Wraith and Nurse's thing canon could be referencing that.
I will give in that sure, maybe they were saying that Killers do interact, but those quotes just feel off. If Dave is one of the guys working on the lore (which I can't remember honestly), why would he say "I THINK it's totally possible." Doesn't bring a lot of confidence.
And that other quote DOES conflict with that statement. "they're kept SEPARATE from each other and THEN they're taken to a place where they can stalk the victims." This implies that they are indeed separate until it is time to stalk the Survivors.
This is the kind of thing that I wish they outright stated, because I'm tired of all of this flip-flopping around the subject.
Yes, but the Q/A is a lot older and it has some answers become outdated(like killers not being undead), while the stream fits better with the actual lore and is backed up by the outfits, that I think is mean to be canon. Is possible that at first, they didn’t have plans for the killers to see each other in the lore, but changed their minds at the time of the stream, which is not exactly uncommon in DBD.
And in my opinion, that answer in the Q/A still leaves things open to interpretation, because the question wasn’t about killers meeting each others, just what the entity normally does with them, but doesn’t shut the possibility of rare interaction.
After all, there are a lot of killers that don’t have proper realms to stay, like the Clown canonically travels the realm in his carriage, Ghostface and the Blight also don’t have maps linked to them, although Blight was in the Chapel at the time of his transformation, so is possible that they would interact with each other.

@VolantConch1719 said:
We really don't know.
Some of the devs say the Killers are all in their separate realms, awaiting their next trial, unable to move from one realm to another until it is time to do so. Some of the devs say that the Killers are able to roam around freely and that Wraith and Nurse are in love.
I honestly believe that statement was made solely to legitimize the Wraith and Nurse Valentine's Day cosmetics they made, and it's the statement most people have snatched onto.
I don't, because cosmetics (besides the Legion, Blight and POSSIBLY Prestige) are not canon in my eyes. That is how I've treated them since their inception, and the more bizarre cosmetics that have been coming out recently (cough Greek collection cough) just continue to prove that.
The “Tragic Love Opera” came in february of 2019, while the lore stream in which the devs confirmed that they could interact with each other came in October of 2018, so I doubt that the answer was just to promote the outfits:
Do Killers interact with other Killers in the fog? If so, how?
Farah - "Are we teasing the thing?"
Dave - "You just did, I guess... I think it's totally possible. I think some are rivals; most are neutral. I think that the community creates amazing fanart and content. I would like to make a canon that The Wraith and The Nurse have something."
The answer also does not conflict with the answer that they gave in the first lore Q/A, because in there ,they were talking about the killers being separated from each other when stalking the survivors. It never said that there couldn’t be interactions between each other and well, in that time, the lore wasn’t as thought as it was in the stream, so for the moment, the stream seems more trustworthy for me:
Well, there's only one Killer at a time in the lobby."
"They're kept separate from each other and then they're taken to a place where they can stalk the victims."
So for me, yes, they can interact with each other, even if they are kept separated most of the time, is still something that can happen and has happened with Wraith and the Nurse.
-
I really don’t see a problem with children killers, like they are a thing in the horror genre and we have seen them all across different forms of media without any controversy, so don’t see why it should be a big deal here. I think the devs stated in a stream (don’t remember the exact quote) that there is the door open to children killers, but no kids survivors, (and all survivors are older than 21 years old), which I find more understandable.
The real issue is animation for like taking survivors to the hook, getting hit by pallets and stuff, but that could be solved with some supernatural powers like telekinesis, them transforming or something like that.

Well supposedly the journal was talking about the serum, which is what our alchemist used to escape the void. I doubt Vigo used the serum to escape the void and just used the auric particles in the fog to manifest an escape for himself.
Remember that Talbot started experimenting with the serum, because he found the notes of Vigo about it, so I think the serum was still used in some way to allow Vigo to escape the Void, perhaps it helped manipulate the realm, like we know that he can do, but while Talbot used the serum in the wrong way and needed to make a deal to escape, Vigo did it on his own.
-
@Raven014 said:
That is what the Void is for. It is the trash can of the Entity. All used survivors and killers are sent there, and the Blight is the only one to have returned from there.
Nitpick, but an add-on from the blight confirms that Vigo also returned from the Void, somehow:
The journal of a man who claimed to have returned from The Void. The knowledge within has practical applications.

I always thought Doc was willing. If he wasn't, why would he be given such a special ability?
And why would you think Susie is not willing?
Doc I think is a similar deal to Trapper. Ok with murder and in fact we know that he is still “experimenting” with the survivors in the trials, but he is probably not happy to obey the entity and its rules, which is probably the reason for is headset, although even if it started unwilling, Herman seems to be fine with torturing himself for “research” at this point.
Nurse, I think she is also similar, but for different reasons, she didn’t want to do it at first, but eventually she saw no other choice and it seems that she think she is doing a favor to the survivors by killing them, continuing her “angel of death” stick.
In the lore, Susie seemed the more resilient to finish the janitor, so people think that she is not that into murder, but given how she has the happiest expression of the group, I think that in the realms, that is not longer the case, which I explain with the members of the Legion being mentally linked with the others, which made them much more willing to kill in name of the Entity.

Thank you for confirming this! So he is the first ever survivor-turned-killer? That's great! Genuinely am happy that idea is being put forwards.
Since time is different in The Entity's realm, what are the chances of a dlc that perhaps shows a corrupted version of an original survivor we play, and perhaps a killer who rejected servitude, but whose determination may make The Entity reassign then as a survivor, seeing an opportunity for a feast in their emotions?
Not sure about the corrupted versions of survivors (as the blight happened in a very specific way and is clear that he had some potential even as a survivor), but killers turning survivors could be an interesting thing, although it would be very rare, not just because of the nature of the people and beings that the Entity choose as killers, but because it is more probably that the Entity just tortures into submission and if that doesn’t work, throw them into the Void.
However, the devs mentioned that in the first trials, the first killer was a “failure”, so there is a chance of it showing up in some way. You could also do something like a survivor that was chosen as a killer, but resisted the corruption at the last moment and even if they were still trapped and have the temptation to submit, they still have their humanity.

Maybe on Survivors, or those add-ons are from before his transformation. The Hunger tells us "He'd rip survivors and killers apart limb from limb for that feeling again." This was before he transformed. During his time as a "Survivor," I don't get the feeling he was entirely... friendly. Given his state of mind when he entered the realm (carving Death is only the beginning into the stone until his fingers bled and then into his chest), I don't think he was interested in really helping the others, and we also know Survivors can kill each other, through Arcus 893, which says "The other Survivors drowned him in mud to shut him up." Death is heavily implied.
And the thing about Killers meeting each other in the realms directly conflicts with other statements made that they are in their own realms until pulled for trials, with the Legion being the only ones who are able to meet each other.
Talbot wants the serum for himself, and only himself, now as well, only occasionally using it to murder Survivors. Even if he is sane enough to experiment on other Killers, and even if he CAN reach those other Killers, his addiction could be too powerful for him to overcome now.
But it is not confirmed that Talbolt meet with survivors at all during the time where he was experimenting with Killers and more importantly, the description of the add-ons mentions that is from a recent survivor, not something from the past:
A chemical squeezed from the pineal gland of a recently deceased Survivor.
His mori for me seems to be experimenting with the serum on survivors, yes, he is addicted now, but the desire to experiment, to research and to know is still there, and even in the Void, he still wanted to use the serum to know more about the realm, which is probably the only thing left of Talbot now.
He feels the hunger. Not for food or drink. Not for talk or fun. For a flower. A single flower. For serum. He knows The Entity is watching him. He knows it. Feels it inside his bones. He doesn't want to be snatched for another trial. To suffer or cause suffering. And to what end? The great horrible mystery of it all. He wants to understand this place. He does. But he senses that to know… to really know would drive him… mad. Madness. That's what this place is. The embodiment of madness. He doesn't want to be pulled into another trial. He wants to return home. He must return home. That's why he was studying the serum. It gave him insight. Insight to what? He doesn't remember.
Although we know that there is enough of him to remember portions of his past with some of his add-ons, so he is not some insane beast:
A poisonous plant that sparked Talbot's interest in chemistry. It rekindles deeply buried memories.
A ring given to chemists graduating from the London School of Medicine. It's a reminder of unrestrained ambition.
-
-Is not confirmed if Doctor had a PHD or not, what we know is that he was a student working in a neuroscience program in the Léry institute, did some nasty stuff in a research assignment, the CIA noticed him and made a deal with him to continue his experiment in the Léry, but we don’t know if he got a PHD then, eventually or his status.
-About survivors and connections to the Entity’s realm, we know that Felix, the new survivor, went to the same island where the Blight was initially taken.
-About the geography, I think a dev answered that anything beyond the walls is an illusion, like the moons or the stars, so I imagine that the mountains are illusions as well, although in the lore, the realms seems to be a bigger than in the games (like in the legion trailer):
Dave - "As geography inside The Entity, you can imagine every match as a pocket; a position within The Entity. You can imagine The Entity being as big as a universe. It's made of multiple layers; in one layer we have pockets where the match happens. Everything within a pocket is constructed by The Entity, except the Survivors and Killers. They do exists in a time continuum; when you go to the campfire, this also exists in one of these pockets, that has different rules. You can't be in all places at the same time, or travel in time within The Entity."
Dave - "To answer about the woods, yes, it's just a facade. It's within a pocket. What you see beyond the gate, the fog, that's the boundary. This exists in the lobby as well."

Forgive me for sounding dumb, but do we conclusively know without any doubt that The Blight is The Alchemist? I ask this because in Talbot's lore he is shown a vision of a field of flowers by The Entity before entering, whilst The Alchemist was wandering through the death and decay of the void. Both those places sound very different to me, which could also lead to an idea they are 2 separate people.
It is confirmed that he is the Alchemist, as one of his add-ons confirms that he was the one that experimented on the Killers, with the add-on being the tag that the blight killers had on their back:
A glass-like laboratory tag, moulded from The Fog itself. Either a gift from The Entity or a cruel jest to tag The Blight as he once did to others.
Also, the field of flowers was a vision showed to him when he entered the Realm for the first time. But he spent time as a survivor before finding the notes of Vigo and trying to create the serum, then the Entity sent him to the Void and there he made a deal with it, becoming the Blight.
