  • I didn't understand how Whispers worked for the longest time since the perk says "Sporadically hear the Entity's Whisper when standing within a 48/40/32 metres of a Survivor."

I thought I had to listen for the Entity's voice and could never figure out when it was happening.

Realized at some point the perk icon itself was lighting up whenever someone was nearby and going dim when they weren't.......

  • How much is too much? Cause that's how much I've spent.

  • @Donnyc Coming in here with the copy pasta of the facts. I like it.

@Vlieger Is it bad that i kinda want that to be a thing...I find that super hilarious for some reason.

I mean..... it could be a bad thing. Depends I guess why it is funny to you and what you are associating it to. xD

A noose is probably more commonly associated to suicide in today's world, and suicide isn't ever really something to joke about.

When I saw it and laughed I was more picturing this actually being a thing way back when hanging was the primary form of execution. Could totally see a company during that time advertising rope this way. The Rope Co. "Best rope for hanging this side of the Mississippi" Est. 1803

Either way I guess it is a pretty dark sense of humor....

  • Enduring is getting changed to only affect pallet stuns.

I don't think they have said one way or the other if they will also bring the DS stun time down a bit with this change as well. Since it was increased after its rework to compensate for Enduring affecting it. I think Head On will be fine where it's at once Enduring no longer affects it. Especially if they buff it to make it easier to use.

Of course! Haha same with the Kingspan socks and the adidas shirt!

Oooooh boy, that is gonna be one costly skin.

But we have their developer build everything they have we have.

Then why were Freddy changes not leaked? The trailer for the stream that included Freddy changes was released not long after that Dev build leak. Which would suggest they have more than just 1 Dev build and the Live build.

Im saying why would you make it seem like a big thing and hype EVERYONE up just for it to be like "Hey give us money." I understand needing money and stuff but why hype everyone up and making them think itll be some great things?

A 3 year anniversary is a big deal and should be hyped? You do not need to one up every anniversary and be like "oh last year we released this content.... this year.... lets release DOUBLE that!" They are doing something different for this anniversary.

That this game has been this successful for 3 years it impressive. The stream they are planning, from what they have shown, appears to be very "big". They are building a whole set for it, will most likely have lots of announcements and interviews.

Personally as a member of this games community and avid fan I am looking forward more to this stream than I would be for a chapter release.

This entire thing just seems like a whole money scheme to the player base

You realize the companies that make the games you play need to make money somehow right?

A live game that has content being pushed out over several years needs to accrue more revenue over that time. The initial cost of the game and the small cost of the DLC is not enough to sustain a game that is continuing to be supported and updated.

The battlepass (if/when it gets implemented) will be an optional purchase, much like several other things in this game. Buy it if you want, or don't. More ways for people to support the company and get value for their support is a good thing. It only becomes an issue if the people who buy things have an advantage over those who don't.

  • "Decisive strike will be active until someone is hooked"

So that player cannot be picked up until you hook someone else? Um no thanks I don't want an even more powerful version of old DS.

Off topic: I notice you very commonly take idea's from other threads that people have suggested and post them as your own thread.....

  • DS doesn't need a change.

If you are getting DS'd as you say after downing and hooking another survivor then finding the survivor who was just unhooked..... learn some game sense to determine "did I really just find this survivor, or did they let me find them?"

Most people running DS now will try to get the killer to chase and down them while it's active. If they don't it is a wasted perk and they know this.

If you do down them.... leave them on the ground. Slugging creates pressure just like hooking. Slug, chase someone off a gen, run back to the slug and get whoever is coming for the heal or just pick them up and hook them now that DS is gone.

The perk as it is prevents tunneling off hook, and gives survivors the option to try and use it offensively too if the killer is dumb enough to fall for it. It has plenty of counterplay for killers who know what they are doing.

  • @Captain said:

Maybe there road map is going to be killer than survivor than map? Either way looks like they are not going to to do 1 survivor 1 killer and 1 map per chapter anymore

I would be ok with this. 24 new perks being introduced a year is a lot....

Maybe a slower stream of new content will allow more time to focus on balancing the already existing content. Plus less perks means less grind which is also fine with me.

  • Think you are fine. Working with the survivor/killer usually means that the killer and survivor(s) are working together to intentionally grief another player or players.

For example survivor is showing the killer where other survivors are, survivor is blocking loops/vaults to allow killer to get an easy hit/down, etc.

I feel like its getting worse as every day passes.

I don't remember it being this bad 3 months ago, not sure why its getting worse by the day.

There are many who are taking extended breaks from the game because of this issue. If you have people who are just getting fed up with the DCs and quit playing because of it.... you are left with those who DC.

The DCs will continue to become or appear to become more commonplace until dedicated servers are released and the punishment for them is implemented.

  • Secret gen rush nerf implemented.

  • I propose an EGC death animation on the killer too, when performing awful support?

    Doesn't seem worth it.

New animation would have to be made, and for what? The game only ends when all survivors are dead/escaped. So who will be around to see the animation? Killer is in first person, everyone else is gone.

They could have the killer go into 3rd person for the animation, but developing a whole animation just so the player who is killer can see it..... not worth.

  • @thesuicidefox

Maybe, I will try out some different TR perks and see how they influence it. Distressing+M&A should make it pretty easy to see if TR perks affect KI.

  • @thesuicidefox I can't say for sure. Never have tested some of the other perks that increase/decrease your TR, but it seems like I spot peoples heartbeat from further away....

If it isn't effected that is pretty odd since the wording of it is:

Killer Instinct - revealing the location of all Survivors who do not have the Deep Wound Status Effect applied and are within The Legion's Terror Radius.

@Peanits can you confirm or provide some insight on if KI is affected by terror radius changes from perks? Or is it locked at their base terror radius?

  • @Shad03 said:

  • I didn't sign up cause I wouldn't be able to play enough during that time unfortunately. But I did read the emails have been sent to the 500 selected people. If you have not received the email it means you were not selected.

  • Welcome to Haddonfun. Please enjoy your stay.

  • I get a lot of value out of M&A on Legion. Less time for the survivors to react to your terror radius and an extended terror radius once in chase so the first FF hit will have a larger radius to show heartbeats of people around the area.

I never really see deep wound actually down people so the larger terror radius doesn't hurt you much there. I usually don't run BBQ either since my knowledge from the heartbeats alone is usually sufficient to know where my next target is.

I switch it up a lot, but a build I like running is:

M&A / Enduring / Pop Goes the Weasel / Surveillance

Definitely not a meta build, but I am not a fan of Ruin since most games it will just get destroyed right away anyways and I have been playing long enough to have a decent enough game sense to find survivors without many tracking perks.

Plus this build continues to put the pressure on as less generators are available to use.

  • I want to see a headless horseman killer..... and his portrait will just be an empty square.

If a player is bad they'll lose the match, and if a player is consistently bad their W/L will reflect it. Picking and enforcing arbitrary criteria doesn't judge skill, it pigeon holes playstyles and selects for very specific powers over others.

That's another issue I didn't even touch yet, win because you got 4 traps as Trapper or 3 instant downs as LF? Enjoy your minimal Chaser. Does it mean you deserve your win less than a Nurse who just farmed 2 hits per down? No, and yet your rank will be artificially lower than the Nurse's for the exact same results.

    @Leatherbilly

I agree that if a player is bad at a game they'll most likely lose or negatively contribute to the team effort. Skill at a game clearly correlates to "winning or losing" and therefore to their W-L ratio.

The main problem this presents for DBD when talking about rank is: not every game has 1 side that "wins" and one side that "loses." The example games you provided all have very defined Win/Loss conditions.

I think DBD could potentially correlate rank to a 'Killed Vs. Escaped' ratio for killers and a 'Survived vs. Dies' ratio for survivors, but like I said before it would segment the community which is something I don't think BHVR wants to do since they say it is a "party game" and not a competitive game.

EDIT: Also I kind of think we went a little bit far down the rabbit hole discussing the semantics of Skill/Stats/W-L and how they affect each other, but let me just end (since I am going to sleep) by saying:

I think the current ranking system being based on emblems is bad, because like you have pointed out: there are scenarios in DBD where you feel like you did very well, but are not ranked appropriately. In a game where Win/Loss is not specifically defined it makes it very hard to determine a rank.

Do player's stats directly determine whether a team wins or loses while a match is in motion?

If a player's score says they throw a ball 5 times, but throw it 3 times are they punished for it in the score of a game?

Your rebuttal doesn't really fit the topic. It's kind of a stretch.

I don't think it is a stretch to say a team of players who all have bad stats will lose the game over a team of players who have all good stats. So do theirs stats/skills determine the outcome of a match? Yes they do.

Way to miss the point entirely.

Call of Duty: You don't lose Team Deathmatch because your accuracy was too poor but you managed to kill the other team anyways.

League of Legends: You destroyed the enemy Nexus? Doesn't matter if your CS sucked, you still win.

Mortal Kombat: You killed the other player but screwed up a couple combos? You still win, because they still died.

Need For Speed: You cross the finish line first? You win, even if you didn't drift well and hit an obstacle.

Team Fortress 2: You captured every control point? Doesn't matter if your KDA was low, you still win.

Whoa no need to get defensive. I am merely trying to have a discussion.

I did not miss the point. I even say at the end of my post I don't disagree with you and I don't think the 'emblem = rank' system is well designed. I was merely pointing out your comparisons are not supporting the complaint very well since in sports players stats are tracked and there is a reward for them to be good.

Overall I think you are trying to say "Rank = W-L ratio" (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)

W-L ratio is definitely a viable way to create a ranking system as pointed out by you by the examples above. It would be interesting to see how that played out if implemented to DBD, but I think why they have not implemented it this way is because it segments the community as you cannot have people who have high W-L ratios without those that have low W-L ratios. Whereas the current ranking system everyone could technically get to rank 1 because it is possible to "lose" the game but still pip.

No other game in the world does this arbitrary break-down. Everything in the world, from sports to video games, judges your performance based upon whether or not you accomplished your objective.

You don't end a football game and say "Well team A had 14 points and Team B had 7 points, but Team A had really bad rush defense and threw a couple interceptions, so Team B wins."

    @Leatherbilly

Oh boy comparing sports to video games. Ok lets do this.

So you say "no other game in the world does this arbitrary break-down" But in sports are players stats not broken down, tracked, and judged? These stats determine how valuable a player was to the team effort of winning or losing the game.

Players in sports are also paid based on their skills. Yes the skills translate over to a W-L ratio, but it is their actual stats/skills at the game that make them valuable to obtaining the "objective" of winning or losing.

I don't necessarily disagree with you that the Emblem/Ranking system in DBD is poorly correlated, but your comparisons are just a poor example and don't actually address why the ranking system is bad.

Having them not use lockers could be a huge time saver tho. Don't have to check them

Checking lockers isn't much I do or see at high levels of play. So imo it wouldn't save a ton of time.

  • I like the creativity, but don't think killers need something else to spend even more time doing when every second counts. The perk itself would also suffer from the same issue Iron Maiden has: once the survivor knows you have it they just won't use lockers.

So with it being limited to the lockers you would "trap" and the fact survivors would avoid lockers after knowing you have it.... you would MAYBE get 1 trap a game out of it.

  • Any "Secret" offering is hidden except to the person that used it.

  • @legion_main

Oh for sure, was just saying it's a trailer, so it is meant to tease info, incite hype, and spark conversation. Which is exactly what it is doing. :D

  • I would call it more of a tease.... since no real info can be gained from what was shown. We can only speculate what it does.

Sucks to hear you have to play with such terrible ping. Hopefully dedicated servers will reduce that, but will have to wait and see. Dedicated servers are supposed to be coming in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Off topic: Is the new law in China to ban blood/gambling/etc in video games affecting DBD at all? I've tried researching it a bit but can't tell if it affects already released games or only new games entering the market. If it is new games, how does it work for DLCs like what DBD has?

If you suspect them of cheating there is a report feature built into the game. Which sends the match and the VIDEO replay for review. Asking the general forum to determine this based on your verbal account of the game is impractical and wrong.
