They are that speed for a reason. Their range makes up for their lack of speed

But Slingers range is only about 18m......his TR is what 32 or so.......how does that make playing him fair when any competent survivor will run away before he can get a shot in. Either give him a speed boost or return his TR to it's pre Nerf state.

You can't increase his range without making his chains more durable....that would make it impossible for survivors to break at close range.

Boons at least do more than cleansing Dull Totems for a Perk the Killer might not even have.

And nope, even with Boons Survivors are stupid enough to put them either in positions where they are not helpful or waste time doing Boons while they could do something else.

In what games every game I see they are always in spots where a Gen is done ensuring that the Killer will never snuff it

  • Not really we have enough cosmetics in the game what we need is real balance fixing to the game or all those cosmetics people are buying will be worthless if and when the game dies from mismanagement of the Devs and their strange ideas of balance

They're basically asking for the totem requirement to be removed as i think that's the only thing changed between the two (they forgot to remove 'hex' I guess) but more of an oversight.

They also said once gates are powered I'm thinking they ment once the gates are open because if not the only difference is that they removed it as a Hex.....the stats are the same.

Then why are they nerfing Boil Over?

Why did they nerf DS on multiple occasions?

Why did they announce a DH nerf?

The Devs make some really...questionable decisions but they get enough ######### for the stuff they do, don't make stuff up.

They are nerfing Boil Over because of how abusive it has been.

DS was "nerfed" on multiple occasions because it actually needed to be tweaked so players were not saving it and still working on Gens using it as a offense instead of a defense perk.

And the DH is not going to be a Nerf, they are trying to work ok the visual bugs that are giving Killers misinformation during chases and attacks.

Pre-cleansing has never been a smart move imo. You are spending precious time off gens to counter a perk that might not even be in play. The smart play has always been to simply note totem spawns throughout the game so you can easily locate and cleanse NOED after it pops.

Let's also note that Boon-ed totems cannot turn into NOED anyway. A Boon totem is just as good as a cleansed one when the last gen pops.

Yes that's true but we are forgetting partly what OP is saying too. Fellow SURVIVORS are trolling and punishing other survivors who break totems because of losing a "possible" Boon location. I have been punished by getting body blocked at a doorway to get downed by a Killer or harassed at end game by my teammates because I broke a totem.

And before most didn't actively seek totems because of NoED most just broke a totem they found for the BP unless they have Inner.

  • @Ghoste said:

Most Survivors didn't cleanse before Boons anyway. It's where the whole "Do bones." meme comes from, because they wouldn't cleanse and then would complain about NOED.

But they cleansed more before Boons than now. Before Boons NoED activated roughly 4 or 5 times out of 10 games played while now it's activated at almost 100% rate. That's why I'll always break totems no matter what.

  • @The_C12H15NO2 said:

Pentimento isn't that strong of a perk b/c of boons and survivors already know the totem location since they cleansed it once already. It's an interesting perk for sure but most games you barely get use out of it. Sure there are streamers who posted that one match where they got all 5 lit against a solo potato team. But generally you might get 1 or 2 before they are cleansed again then useless.

I love the idea of pentimento but b/c it came out after boons, it's nearly useless. hex perks are pretty much dead once a killer hits average mmr. But you're right, NOED has made a comeback b/c of boons and the killers know totems will be in play.

Personally i like to cleanse totems if there is time. 1k points and it helps me pip. I try to be mindful if another player has boons. but if i don't hear a boon go up i'll start cleansing.

See I don't care if another Survivor has CoH. Dem bones will break so I can have my Inner Healing. Players shouldn't rely on CoH to get the out of a bind.....that's why I either run Inner or Self for my healing needs.

Or do something about the gens themselves (not slowing the genspeed but help with the pressure build), this would be also a different way to approuch it, shrinking maps is only 1 of many solutions.

Unfortunately the Devs have already said they won't touch Gen Speeds or anything like that so maps are the only option at the current junction. I don't want to see more slowdowns for Killers because that would make matches unfun for both sides.

There is way too many safe tiles that lead into semi infinities or just another safe tiles.

Wreckers Yard is a decent example of Map Balance, even though it still has alot of safe loop combos in the center of the map, it has the most balance in size and Safe to dead zone ratio.

  • @BenZ0 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2795748#Comment_2795748

I disagree with that, I like having bigger maps. It hate wreckers yard BECAUSE it is so small, you run like 5sec and you already reach the edge of the map, I think thats a horrible feeling and doesnt really fit to dbd. Larger maps are more fun cuz survivors have more space to work with in the game and it isnt that easy to cuck your own teammates by accidently running into them while they heal or do a gen.

Also Killers like Artist, Blight, Oni etc are more fun on bigger maps, also it reduces the power of camping, its easier to protect an area and camp a hook at the same time with a smaller map. It has only advantages imo.

Yes but bigger maps make 90% of the Killer Roster unfun to play because they don't have that map pressure or can reach any of the farther Gens before they get done. Maps do need to be made smaller and cut the amount of safe tiles down.

Where do you draw the line at sending surivvor teams into this SWF Q? Would you require it at 3 man premade? just 2 friends together? I don't have a dog in this race so I'm honestly asking out of pure curiousity.

I personally don't think it's a matter of dividing the playerbase. I think the reason it hasn't been considered is simple; how would you incentivize killers to play this "hard mode"?

I think the consensis is that for most killers is that playing at high level is exhausting and unfun. So how would you get people to play a mode that would be objectively more stressful?

This is why I tend to favor what the devs say they're trying to do - bring up solo players to the same level as the SWF in performance - then they can be free to buff the killers.

But until they get off their cans and finally do it, I'll keep my play time to a minimum. I still have faith it can be done - overall the game has been getting better even if it means they have to take a step or two back with the frequent mistakes they make.

The thing is look how long it takes them to FINALLY admit that SoloQ needs help. The perposed changes are a step in the right direction but NOTHING they do will make up for the power of Coms and we know that and THEY know that as well.

Then we come to the question of Buffing Killers......a joke within itself because well let's look at how they have "Balanced" Killers so far. What can they do that would bring Killers up to the standards of SWFs.....besides just making them stronger in all aspects but others would argue then that would make facing them not fun.....I agree that wouldn't be a good idea so then how do you do it......the game may not have that long for them to find out.

I'd like to think MMR would works the more you play. After each bad match you go down until you hit that level where you can enjoy yourself.

Maybe get to a point where you win a match, and lose the next on purpose so you can stay at a more chill level.

Idk. All I know is I can't play this game at high MMR it's a miserable experience sweating for 3 or 4 hooks and spending all match breaking pallets and walking

Sadly that's HOW it's supposed to work but you can't have a SBMM in asymmetrical game like DbD. The game is ment for the 1 Killer to have more power than the 4 Survivors while making it that the Survivors have enough items and Perks to give them a chance at escaping. It will always be a 1v4 game that can't translate well with SBMM.

We have Survivors that will crawl and hide most of the match and escape while the Survivors that loop the Killer, make risky saves, bodyblock , etc don't survive and the game says the ones who hide all match have more skill than the latter. As broken as the emblam system was it gave more balanced matchmaking, and I'm not saying that it didn't have its own issues but was better than this

Also there are fewer Killers playing so it will match a Killer with let's say 1500 MMR will get paired with a team with a average MMR of 3000 or more. (That's just a example I don't know how the blasted system works)

You lost game, you failed to stop survivors. You should not get kill because of NOED.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2794470#Comment_2794470

Help is different. You can use some perks for chase, slowdown, pressure etc. We are talking the perks which rewarding you for your lose. Yeah this is bad design for me.

But it's not a loss until all 4 survivors have left the match via door or hatch. In various games I have seen Survivors get greedy and cocky when all Gens are done. They do more BMing, getting close to the Killer and in general Farming the Killer. Not every Killer that uses NOED is a bad player who can chase or counter loops just as all Survivors that use 2nd chance perks are bad.

These 2nd chance perks are crutches at the most, but are valuable tools for the experienced. The point of NOED is that it's a surprise perk like Bloodwarden, you don't know it's there until it happens. Yes Blood Warden has a very lame counter, just 99 a door and wait to open it after a hook. Personally there are issues there I won't go into for the sake of staying on topic.

But NOED has 2 major counters, break totems or just leave. Yes breaking the 5 totems is a task and can be difficult on some maps but since totem placement has yet to be fixed thier locations are in fixed spots. Survivors have items and Perks to find Totems faster but now we come down to the reason why so many Survivors are now complaining about NOED.....Boons.

Now that we have Boons, especially CoH, Survivors don't want to break totems because they don't want to lose that "critical" location for CoH. I have been trolled in a match for breaking a totem to use Inner Strength.

In the end NOED isn't unfair or supports a bad or inexperienced Killer. We just have a perfect storm of flaws as a whole that make issues worse.

BT should be base kit because camping/ tunneling killers have too much power if survivors don't bring the right perks to deal with it. What happens too much in solo q. Did you ever play a custom match asking for the survivors for no BT/ no DS? It's a massacre.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2792973#Comment_2792973

You must not have that many hours in both sides then...

But BT is not being used as a anti tunnel perk most Survivors use it as a free bodyblock perk and being aggressive when they should be escaping and healing. Making it basekit in it's current state is a terrible idea and needs to be thought out more.

  • Yea you had a very good point because I play both sides and see the pain of both sides. I mean I like the thought of the reward through playtime system but the Pips just make it more difficult, not to mention you have to earn more Pips as you "rank" up.

  • @chargernick85 said:

I completely agree. There are so many things out of our control especially as survivor. I could run the killer majority if game and de pip because I didnt get to heal, rescue, or repair.

Its really the same for Killers too. He could hook everyone but didn't get a single kill and he will depip. The Pip system is flawed and like others said doesn't work with SBMM. I only can play on the weekends because of my jobs I work during the week so I can't reach past silver if I'm lucky, so I usually get stuck in ash and get little BP

  • Obviously a troll bait post seeing Rizzo edited it. But if it's not like Mandy and others said none of that is against any rules and is not even slightly being toxic. Then why use it.....you obviously know the sour taste that it has put in people's mouths. You know that slugging has been a issue since the perk has changed.....but you put it on anyways because of "Just In case" most Killers now will just slug and bleed out if they even see Boil Over pop up on thier screen. It's not more sensitive, it does in fact proc in the same way that Balanced Landing does. So if the basement is in the shack for example, and the killer goes the side way down - so drops onto the stairs instead of walking down from the top, that will proc Boil Over - that same drop also procs Balanced Landing.

Then they should of just put guard rails on the basement steps if they didn't want Killers to use the shortcut......

Thats why complaints about NOED has increased since Boons came out....no one is doing bones anymore.

The issue with them is that they are not casual players like most of the community. I for one can't play at their skills or level and can't play "skummy" so for a lot of us it's very Survivor Sided

I literally just said I play killer, just not as often. It is boring in my opinion so…

And as someone else said your reasoning is flawed and makes me say what I said. The reason we are in this mess is because the "DEVS" wanted to "CHANGE" the meta because survivors use EXACTLY the same builds once they have all the perks for it. Not every Killer is the same so you saying the same power over and over again is another point that made me say it's obvious you don't play Killer.

Survivor is the most boring role to play because most of the game your just sitting on Gens to repair them. The only time it changes is if and when the Killer finds you and chases you. There have been matches where I never found or saw one survivor because they were never where I was patrolling, so that survivor did nothing but sit on Gens. I have played survivor matches where I never saw the Killer or if I did once I hear the "Cats Bell" I just hide and wait for them to leave and I go back onto the Gen.

  • Then you don't play Killer that's obvious if you say it's boring.

Sigh, yes, I apologize for giving the devs ideas. I'll go to my corner now... heck, This is about as bad as when I almost told them that they should give killers kick on gens a 10% damage by default, and make survivors have to repair the gen for 2 seconds to stop regression... or worse, when I nearly let it slip that the gates should progress .25 charges per second regardless of survivor interaction to make the gates automatically open after 80 seconds of inactivity (after they've been powered of course), and less if there's been any on them in order to start the EGC sooner, or that other time I thought it would be more fair to survivors if they could interrupt a mori animation to save their friend at the cost of 1 health state by simply running up and kicking them as the animation started. Hell I really shouldn't have said it would be fun to have a killer that switches between multiple characters back in 2018 and a revised version in 2019, but now we're stuck with the Twins, who are undoubtedly the MOST OPRESSIVE KILLER in the game!

sigh... I understand, I won't do it anymore. I'm sorry.

Any killer that can only do damage Via M1, and have no mobility enhancement/ranged attack. Basically, If you can do damage/down survivors, or catch up to them quickly with your power, CoH, while still irritating, isn't nearly as bad for you as it is for the rest.

Myers, Trapper, Doc, Clown, Pig, Ghost Face, and Twins all feel the hurt caused by CoH harder than the others because they all share the same issue: their primary method of Damage is done via M1 strikes, and they have no range attacks or mobility enhancement to catch up to survivors. You could argue about a few of them like Twins having a super fast victor running around, but their primary modus operandi is Slug based play, CoH heavily counters them.

Hag's hurting from CoH as well, but only because of her default lower than avg movement speed, which is supposed to be compensated for by her ability to teleport to her traps, but honestly all a survivor has to do is put up a boon near the edge of the map and flee to it while she's hopping around the map, and she will never get to them in time to get a down before they heal.

While the rest of the killers can deal with CoH decently enough, and the Instant Down killers have a decided edge against it, but there's really only 1, who by existing, heavily counters CoH: Plague. Her entire kit is based around crippling the Healing Meta, so naturally CoH has very little power over her. What can I say, with her recent buffs introduced right before the boons and CoH, It's a good time to be a Plague main... That is until enough people whine about how OP she is against all healing perks/items, and the devs cave in to make it so that her infection status no longer leaves you broken, but instead puts a timer on you so that every time you heal you have 120 seconds before the infection gets back to full and injures you again.

Sigh... I should stop giving the devs Ideas.

*Slaps you in the face with a oversized freash fish*

No BAD don't do that. Bad bad....now go to the corner and think about what you have done.

Not to mention, the PTB is supposed to be for testing things, right? People did that and showed video evidence of the possible bs Boil Over could create.

Playing against Pinhead means you have to put down your item (and your reason to survive the trial) and the chains will stop you from solving the box.

If Ruin is active then those interrupting chains will cost you progress on generators and make it difficult to heal your teammates.

Now you may see that and think of a response. A tactical way to play. That's fine.

Tell that to Joe random. What's his motivation to do that? Pinhead wins.

I hate to say this to you but it's not that hard to Solve the box and not get punished for it. As for putting the item down and giving up the reason for surviving the trial......really....I gave up purple Medkits, tool boxes, and flashlights to solve the box and still got them back......and escaped.

    It did.

What they didn't do (and never claimed that they would) was make it so that the person with the box never got hit by chains. The fix was the 3 chains spawning, then a break to give you time to solve. That's it. You can't have the person holding the box not get hit by any chains, that would be too easy to abuse and the box would never be solved.

Don't forget before that they DID make the person holding the Box became immune to the chains but it also paused the chain hunt. People abused it by holding the box hostage

Sadly Rizzo seems very sided in my honest opinion......the wiggle bonus triggers as such small drops it isn't funny. This is true. However, Dried Cherry Blossom is also not really good designed. The problem is that both share the same Drawback and it makes Tracking easier IMO.

But those two are the only two Add Ons which need changing and those two Add Ons are the only problem I have with Spirit. I dont really like to go against her in general, but this goes for a bunch of Killers (even weaker ones) and is just personal preference and not something I would consider a problem.

Right I understand, with me I love to play her but my hearing can hear the subtle audio cues of the Survivors even with my new headset, so I use the Dried Cherry Blossom to have some tracking ability. I don't tend to use both at the same time unless I want to play really sweaty, but that's only if I faced flashlight clickers too much and want to take my anger out on the next clicky clack team lol

Bully squads are an issue with or without this perk. They now just have another angle and require even more slugging. Not that I mind as long as I play Oni or Hillbilly I have to slug either way, Cannibal also does not mind a bit more slugging along the way.

I will never understand why survivors consider slugging toxic as long as the Killer does not let them bleed out without even trying to hook them when they could. Slugging is an important part of the game for some Killers (Oni, Hillbilly, Bubba), to counter some perks (Deceisive Strike) and to gain momentum. It has a defined risk of you loosing the person, UnbreakaBill happening or Exponential finally getting some value...honestly a fine mechanic: Risk, reward and counterplay.

If the devs are biased it is because they want to make SoloQ more fun. And let us be fair: For the most of us it is hell. I only play survivor when I can play with at least one friend and even when we play as 3 the one soloQ survivor can shot us in the foot easily without even wanting it.

I thing the bias is deserved for this.

Bully squads are quit rare (unless you play at the weekend it seems) compared to 2-1-1, 2-2 or 3-1 lobbies. Balancing perks around them would leave probably 90% of the players in the dust...

The problem is that survivors get some shiny new toys while Killers got...well, I guess Gearhead and Deadmans are a thing...and a bunch of nerfs to Clown, Nemesis and Twins...sure the reasoning for those nerfs may be up for debate, but the image we get is: Survivor gets new toys, Killer gets nerfed. This is bad communication, not even bad intent...

I run into bully squads alot tbh but that could just be my own crap luck lol. But I agree SoloQ needs love and help but so many Killers need a QoL or a straight up Buff to keep up with the growing list of shiny toys of Survivors

I was thinking of running Iron Grasp, but yeah it seems survivors may grow out of there shells sooner then later.

IG won't help much with the Buff.....it's hard to control the wiggle....best run IG with Agg.

"making it easier" is nicely put. If you use MDR and Dried Cherry Blossom the game is basically playing for you.

Yea but really Dried Cherry Blossom is not as strong as Father's Glasses, a Spirit can misread the Killer Instinct wrong and miss the attack since there is a few second delay to the pulses

  • Here is the thing, we will start seeing more slugging Killers along with Camping and Tunneling Killers.....and if the bully squads are using Boon Exo along with Boil Over we will see Camping Sluggers......the Devs are incentiving the "toxic" behavior from Killers but don't care how abusive Perks are on both Killer and Survivor. They say Booms are working as intended but most agree the basic mechanics of them need a lot of tweeking, CoH still has the stacking bonus with Medkits and the Nerf only made heals take a few seconds longer. They don't care how SWFs have a major advantage over SoloQ and Killers but only to address the possible changes to SoloQ HUDs to have basic information on what's going on.

We all can see how broken the game is and how unintentionally biased the Devs are, because I personally don't think they are biased on purpose, but major changes do need to be done or thier cash cow of a game will die

    People still hate Spirit?

Yes they do sadly.....they want her and her add-ons that increase her speed or help her find survivors easier to be nerfed to the ground or removed. Most mains won't be satisfied until she is a Z tier Killer like most.

I would argue it's because Circle of Healing isn't the only boon perk in this game. Both Shadowplay and especially Exponential do not seem overpowered in the slightest, in fact I don't see them getting used a lot at all. Nerfing the actual boon mechanics in some way or another, would also nerf those perks.

I do agree that snuffing out totems seems a bit meaningless at times, there is no cooldown as to when survivors can reuse the boon perks, and it only takes 14 seconds to bless a totem. Which is definitely some time wasted, but not a lot. Increasing that by just a few second would already make snuffing out a totem more meaningful.

And of course, I can see how multi level maps in particular can be problematic with boons, as it makes it more often a time waster for killers to snuff out one single boon totem.

However, as I said, it would nerf Shadowplay and Exponential, which seems bad, given how they aren't that strong anyways. So they would need compensation buffs to their effects. I can definitely think of buffs to Shadowplay, but not sure about Exponential.

The problem really is Circle of Healing, and only that perk. So of course it makes more sense for the devs to look at that perk seperately and see how they can nerf that perk, and only that perk.

Ok if nerfing the basic mechanics of Boons would make those two perks bad then what about the COMPLETELY useless Hex of the Artist. No one is breaking totems anymore even when no one has a Boon in thier loadout. That Hex has potential of being a decent Hex that puts a new twist to Hexes but the only people who were able to get it going are Survivors that LET the Killer use it to see how it works.

The changes that most players agree with wouldn't Nerf any Boon more than the other but instead takes out the abusive nature of Boons as a whole. They still will be strong Boon Exo will still be a horrible idea for a Boon and Shadow Step will still be really strong on indoor maps while CoH.....well let's leave that for another discussion.....
