I dont know, my queue times yesterday evening were a bit faster, but they are far away from 10 minutes anyway. But I am living in Europe, queue times in the US are way higher.

Nevertheless, if someone has a queue that is longer than 2 minutes, I'd recommend to switch to the other side. Only way to prevent long queues.

@EntitySpawn now seriously, if the killer chased you for 10 minutes and no one did a gen, then the killer and the 3 other survivors were matched correctly. You getting in as a filler could have just been the mmr prioritizing shorter queues over fair matches.

  • Sorry, got a bit confused by the other thread.

    My point still stands, btw.

Every game is a DC, someone killing themselves on first hook or a face camping bubba.

What on earth are you doing putting me with these people, I'm waiting 10mins for a game to be over in 3mins.

So you had some jerk survivors. For this you will punish next survivors you faced? Seriously?

    This is the way.

On a more serious note. Being toxic breeds more people being toxic. A viscous circle that will probably never end.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Probably more people playing Killer, because you get way more BPs as Killer so 1.5xBPs grants more BPs.

This means, less Survivors, so Matchmaking is expanding even more.

Yeah, SBMM is great. But Solo Q has always been miserable. And even if the Devs bring in those Icons which show what others are doing, it might not even change, because even if that Claudette in the corner of the Map sees that another Survivor is chased, she would not to do Gens, but this is not guaranteed.

If those Icons make it live at some point, it will probably be even more frustrating for Survivors, because you can see the teammates doing nothing.

But he mentioned that he had a 10 minute queue as solo survivor.

It looks more like we need way more survivors switching to killer.

    Happy hunting!

  • Btw, why do you have 2 threads on the same matter?

  • 4 out of 5 people were playing in their corresponding mmr. Pretty accurate if you ask me.

bhvr not being able to code a bouncing killer properly isn't a 'tech' either

    It's simply a annoying bug.

    Annoying for both sides.

  • I think we should be able to equip various challenges at the same time.

More often then not, I get survivors that escape before me, when I have a heal challenge active and a match against Legion, when I have a "stay within 10 meters of the killer" challenge.

New killer? Are you talking about the ringu killer? She's was only in the ptb, we literally don't know what she's going to be like coming into live. So don't ask for unnecessary nerfs before the killer even joins the game.

    ...You

  • Tbh, Hag is a really rare sight these days. So it doesn't surprise me that survivors don't know how to play around her traps.

We really need a bot mode that lets you play as/against every killer and that gives tooltips on the strengths and weaknesses.

If I miss a skill check it’s usually due to this. I’m always paying so much attention to my surroundings I miss the pop up. I’m always surprised as killer when I pluck someone off a gen when I’m approaching from an exposed area. I’m like “how could you not see me coming from a mile away?”

Because some people play while hearing loud music or while chatting.

That's why they don't notice the killer coming from an open area.

  • Is paying attention to your surroundings while holding m1 to much to ask for?

I love some good jump scares. Those are the few moments the game feel like a horror game.

    Please don't take this away.

  • Thank God that DS, BT, DH, UB and CoH every single match doesn't get boring at all...

  • So the object not having collision and rendering Blights power useless most of the time is a cheat now?

    Like... really?

I mean, killers can already deal with SWF. I don't think buffing solos is gonna hurt them much.

15% higher escape rate is hefty.

If a killer had 15% higher kill rate, then the next patch would contain some hefty nerfs.

  • @Firellius said:

Broad data is really weak evidence, but it is still evidence.

Again, it's more than the 'game is survivor-sided' theory has, which has never presented any evidence, weak or otherwise.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2825163#Comment_2825163

Stats showed that SWF has a 15% higher escape rate. Now if solos reach the same level, the devs obviously need to do something for killers.

Not necessarily. If Swiffers are at 50% escape rate and solos are at 35% escape rate, then bringing solos up to par with Swiffers wouldn't warrant any buff for the killer side.

Swiffers having a 15% higher escape rate does not immediately indicate them as being OP, since it's not benchmarked.

The last stats showed kill rates of roughly 50%. Now either the amount of solos is so high, that it drags down the SWF escape rate. In which case the balancing is far off the desired levels. Or the amount of SWF is so high, that it pulls up the escape rate. Which than begs the question, why voice chat isn´t a inbuild game feature, when so many people use an external voice chat.

One way or another, we would be in for some hefty changes.

  • @FatallyIconic said:

I've always said the following, and I think anyone that has played Killer and survivor will agree:

Solo Survivor --> Killer --> SWF. In order of weakest to strongest.

No, the game isn't survivor sided, it's SWF sided. If a killer is vsing solo survivors or 2-man SWF with solos they have a decent likelihood of winning if they don't totally suck.

Killer players and solo survivors should never expect to win every single match. Find ways to have fun in the game without having to "win". Otherwise, if winning is that important to you play sweaty in a SWF (Or play Blight with ruin undying tinkerer BBQ and make every solo queue surv want to uninstall)

While I agree with this. I really wonder what's the devs plan with killers after they lifted up solos to the same information level as SWF.

Stats showed that SWF has a 15% higher escape rate. Now if solos reach the same level, the devs obviously need to do something for killers. At least when they want to continue with their 2 kills, 2 escapes balancing.

@Aven_Fallen is right. Resident Evil is great license, so it came with so much new players. So people looked game, some of them loved and still playing. And others left.

If we get another big license with next anniversary, you will see bigger numbers again.

Let's hope the next big license chapter isn't a disaster like the RE one (with the map being deactivated for several weeks) and manages to contain more of the hyped playerbase.

I've had to bleed Survivors out aswell, but I wouldn't really count that as Boil Over working

A perk doesn't need to be foolproof to work. If I got 1 wiggle out per match, than Boil Over was as strong as DS for me. Even more so, because it's not on a timer and deactivates when working on a gen.

  • @GreyBigfoot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2824968#Comment_2824968

There was one from Level 2, which was 6 times total. I was actually able to get that in one match thanks to Furtive Chase. I was playing Huntress so I think I got zero value from the perk's actual function lol.

I they've definitely done that challenge before, but I think the highest number I've seen it go was 10 times (not in a single trial)

It's possible with Nemesis (the perk).

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2824969#Comment_2824969

Whenever a Survivor tried to use Boil Over in me without abusing it, I always made it to a Hook with no problem

Once you figure out that you shouldn't go down directly under a hook, it becomes quite powerful.

Had a fair amount of bleed outs with it. Because killers were not willing to risk a second or third wiggle out.

  • Yesterday I was matched with Billy twice in a row! Aaaand they played him like Bubba, one even with Insidious.

So I'm not sure how to feel about this.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2824965#Comment_2824965

I mean, Boil Over truly wasn't good after the buff. If people weren't trying to abuse it, it barely did something

I tested it as solo and got at least one wiggle free per trial. Which is the equivalent of a DS.

  • At this point I just wait for a "hook the obsession 12 times in a single match" challenge.

  • Next time someone claims this forum is a killer echo chamber, I'll show them this thread.

People even claiming that Boil Over wasn't good or abused after the buff...

    Yikes

  • Same, this week I've seen hackers on a daily basis. I report them ingame but don't bother reporting them on the website anymore.

  • Nurse is deactivated and survivors are enjoying 50 shades of Blight.

But instead of asking for killer buffs, so we see more variety of viable killers, people ask for nerfs.

  • @Heartbound said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2822761#Comment_2822761

From my knowledge of the game, what I think happened is that Otz pressed space to pick up the survivor, but before the animation played Otz responded to the puzzle being solved so since the game is saying hey, you picked up a survivor and hey, you're moving to deal with the box that it allowed both actions at once. For the survivor they weren't picked up yet so they probably didn't enter the wiggle phase so they just spawned at Pinhead's new location.

I don't see a lot of practical use for dragging a survivor through the Cenobite's labyrinth unless you had fascinating sights to show them but who knows. The Leviathan has many secrets not revealed to mankind.

So it could be a bug? That would be a shame.

The benefit could be to have 2 downed survivors at the same spot. Interrupting the box without losing the downed survivor.

  • @Macymj6 said:

Jesus christ, not trying to be an entitled survivor main and rarely do I ever complain but pinhead just makes the game unbearable. As soon as I load into a match and find out that’s the killer I just want to disconnect, and when the match is over get off for the day. A game should be enjoyable for players, not want you to get off immediately. Maybe it’s because he’s a fairly new killer and i’m learning how to play against him still but good god he is extremely aggravating, and a lot of people seem to think the way I do. I have yet to play a fun match with that killer. It’s honestly ridiculous.

Edit: Not trying to say he should be nerfed, there are some things I enjoy like his voicelines are pretty cool and the sounds but he’s just not a particularly fun killer for me to play against. He’s just annoying as hell.

Nice Pinheads exist. You just have to keep playing against them, without instantly giving up.

I'm talking about new players, there would be enough experienced ones.

You bought a game, boot up, queued up, it's been 40 minutes and no games found... how do you feel?

I would switch the side long before reaching the 40 minute mark. If one side has long queues, i play the other one.

Now when the amount of people that are willing to switch is so little, that one side always has long queues. Then the devs should take a long hard look at their balancing choices.

  • @fulltonon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2823771#Comment_2823771

Do you think anyone plays game when matchmaking takes literally an hour? I doubt it.

Obviously not. But throwing new players under the bus, just so that experienced ones have shorter queues will make the issue worse and worse.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2823762#Comment_2823762

This is same for survivors. They need to use DS & BT because you know, tunnelling and camping are popular tactics.

But yeah, you are right. There is so much issues. Let's destroy all meta perks (both sides) and add new mechanics to fix issues. But is BHVR that brave and crazy?

As far as i´m aware, the devs want to do something about camping/tunneling. So maybe in the future, survivors won´t feel forced to equip them. On the other hand, gen speeds don´t seem to be an issue for them. So...

  • The K/Emmr isn´t the issue. Its trying its best, since by default it has to priotize shorter queues over fair matches.

The issue is the balancing, a relative shortage of killers (everyone who tries to play survivor after work, gets a 5-10 minute queue), and that the mmr originally was designed with something else in mind than just kills vs escapes. On why it suddenly was turned into what we have now is a mistery. Because right now it reminds more of the Victory Cube than a skill system.

New players should never face experienced players. Especially when they still don´t know the basics. Someone who gets stomped during his first 20 matches will most likely uninstall the game and never come back. So i really don´t get why the matchmaking puts them through the meatgrinder.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

You should use 3 slow-down + 1 information perk. And if you play with anti-loop killer, probably you will be okey.

Ruin was a must. Then later Undying Ruin became a must. Now people start to recommend 3 slowdown perks.

Does no one see the issue here? When will it be enough? When killers are forced to equip 4 slowdown perks?

There used to be downvotes, actually.

But they got removed because you know how much of a hellhole this place is, and what people would do with a tool like that.

I miss the downvote and the awesome buttons. Just like i miss the youtube downvote button, for similar reasons.

If we´re better off without them, is something for a whole different thread.

Anyway, i still don´t get what @Mileena_Kahn is trying to achieve with this thread. More us vs them? Since accusing survivors of being SWF or mentioning that playing their main would have resulted in a different outcome isn´t exactly blaming. I mean, the Blight player was probably just doing a daily like "kill a survivor with your own hands as Blight". Most of us would equip the best whats available to achieve something like this with a killer they haven´t mastered. No shame in that.

Thats why this thread is beyond me.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

A lot of bad perks simply can't be buffed or else they'd break the game.

Just look at what happened with Boil Over for an example of a survivor perk that should never be buffed.

As for killer perks Just imagine for example a Basement Bubba using Monsterous Shrine that was buffed to sacrifice survivors 25-50% faster while on the basement hooks.

Or using your Monstrous Shrine buff idea would disable both DS and BT making the basement completely inescapable.

It would be incredibly unfun and unhealthy for the game.

Boil Over is fine now. The problem with it was just the combination of several maps missing hooks in key areas and people going out of their way to abuse the perk.

I´m ok with underused perks getting buffed to almost absurd levels and then toned down, depending on how the feedback of the perk is.

Some not all. I like to run Im All Ears and Pop. Pop carries me.

This part here shouldn´t be a must. At least according to the devs. So i´d recommend to play without slowdown perks. Even when this costs you matches. Because apparently the only way for the devs to realize how busted the gen times are, is when the kill rates drops further.

You get new, fresh players with a single tier 1 perk going against fully loaded out squads, after 10 games of this I probably wouldn't want to come back, considering I probably earned a total of 50k BP in those 10 matches, giving me access to yet another tier 1 perk. I'm honestly amazed at the masochism of new players who decide to stick around and continue on. Loadout and perks don't get taken into consideration when matchmaking, and that results in some seriously whack lobbies.

Yesterday I ended up going against a Wraith with tier 1 deerstalker against a full meta-perk lobby, and he got relentlessly mocked by obviously much more experienced survivors, and ended up DC'ing after 0 hits and 5 gens flew by. He had 4 hours on his profile. I don't think that guy is going to play the game again anytime soon.

With the new player experience being like this, how is the game expected to grow? New players are thrown to the wolves, and the one thing that could give them an advantage is locked behind DLC's and endless hours of grind. If someone told me that I need to put in 300 hours before I even have a chance of enjoying the game, I'd probably never buy it. Yeah, you see, in order to not get stomped by the players the matchmaking system puts you up against, you need this perk from that character, this perk from that other character, and also need to buy this one character for that one perk that lessens the grind, and oh, you also need to play hundreds of hours to unlock them on the character you actually want to play to begin with! What a fun game.

I don't see how this game is attractive to new players, or how it plans to retain them. I recommended this game to one of my friends (foolish, I know), he got 8 hours into it, and we had the exact discussion as above. He said that's ridiculous, and doesn't even want to play SWF with me, because honestly, with his loadout, why would he?

If i had to start now, i probably wouldn´t buy the game, because of how much grind there is. Now stack the frustation that comes when bully squads see an oportunity to humiliate on top of that, and i would instantly uninstall the game.

Not a bad idea. Since the devs don’t want a second mode we could get some modifier type modes as compensation instead. Sure it’s unbalanced but dbd as a whole is so I don’t see the issue

Doesn´t has to be balanced, when its scary enough. Maybe test it first as a Kill your Friends modifier or something like that.

Man, our experiences are radically different. I really wish the survivors would at least try to play the game. Oh, it's Pinhead, better go stand in a corner and tab out. I'm not even that proficient with him yet. For some reason, the survivors I face in my region at the time of day I'm playing at really don't like playing against him. Just now I had a game where I got flamed for not hooking a survivor who was gesturing at me and pointing at the hook. Nah bro, stay and play the game. I ignored him and dealt with him last, and got called all kinds of names. My only question was "Why queue up when you don't want to play", and the answer was "warmup like I did with your mom last night".

Some people are just horrible. Yesterday i had a match where a survivor suicided on the first hook with 4 gens up. I felt so bad, that i let everyone else go. That same survivor kept haunting my profile spamming over a dozen of messages in 24h, what a horrible being i am, until i finally blocked him. Like, #########?!

The playercount has been steadily dropping ever since MMR got introduced. Ever since this got announced, the playercount has been nosediving despite some pretty okay chapters being released. We're in our 5th month of decline, and I don't see the Ringu chapter pulling us out of this.

What you're experiencing is a direct result of MMR being introduced in a non-competitive game, and your experience speaks for itself. It's getting harder and harder for new players to get into the game, because the perks one needs to not get tunneled out of the game are locked behind some pretty unenjoyable progression. I wonder at what point BHVR, the self-proclaimed kings of "statistics", will look at the numbers and address the elephant in the room. Our player numbers are back at what they were in April 2021, and I don't see this trend stopping anytime soon.

New players should never be matched against experienced ones. Period. They really need to address this, because new players won´t stay for long, when they get stomped non stop in their first 20 matches. They´ll most likely uninstall.

When instead, they should be matched only with new players and get a "soft" learning curve.

  • @ObservantOfTime said:

I want to know how people have normal Pinhead matches. In my experience I can't go two games without someone disconnecting, running into me and giving up, or AFK'ing at the start of the match.

Even worse when I use add-ons like the Iridescent Lament Configuration, survivors just quit, kill themselves on first hook, wave at me to hook them, or straight up disconnect.

What's the secret to having a normal Pinhead game, consistently?

I play without addons. Sometimes i get a dc/suicide. But most of the time survivors stay for a normal match. Maybe thats the secret. But tbh, i haven´t tried to play with addons, so i don´t really know if that would change the survivors behavior so drastically from what you experience.

But you could give it a try.

  • I think a Hardcore mode would bring a lot of veterans back. A mode where there is no UI, no heartbeat, no scratchmarks, (maybe even) no perks, etc.

This would appeal to all the players that want that horror game feeling back, which they felt during their first hours. You know? Like Scratched Mirror Myers, which jump scares most people (which is great!).

Yeah but boons have to be perks that make surv loses time searching a totem for booning and thats why they can reboon a totem but they make it strong enought to be stronger than hexes.

With how the totem spawn points are set, they aren´t exactly hard to find. I mean, we have several totem finder perks, but they don´t see any usage, since totems spawn next to gens, out in the open, on top of hills, etc.

So can survivors defend their boons? No, killers can.

Are boons map-wide? No, hexes are.

If you really want boons to be hexes and make them single-use then also make them map wide and add a way for survivors to protect their perks.

Can killers place their hex where they want? No, survivors can.

Do boons require to be map wide? No, their power is strong enough to be concentrated in certain areas. Or Shadow Step would be the single most OP perk around, if it was map wide.

There are 4 survivors. Stop treating it as a 1vs1 game. Survivors can easily place 4 boon perks around the map and destroying one of them, wouldn´t hurt them more, than the killer losing his hex perk. Especially since the totem spawns are so terrible and survivors can choose where they prefer to set theirs. If you want survivors to be able to "defend" their boon, then just make totem spawns more hidden. It would benefit both sides.
