That's not what I'm saying, the problem with making statements like "this game is survivor sided" is that, depending on the killer you play, they can either be completely true, or completely false. This issue isn't black and white, it's a matter of poor balance, and if you want this game to be balanced, then you picked quite possibly the worst game for that.
I´d say all killers should be more or less equally viable. Only having 2 killers that can be played on high mmr ratings gets kinda stale. For both sides. The issue that bothers me the most is, that the devs see on their data, that something is meta, but don´t ask themselves WHY it is meta.
I´ve seen killers struggle with 2 slowdown perks. During a Q&A they once said, that a perk shouldn´t be obligatory to use. Looking at how killers struggle with gen defense is a clear indicator that something is far off.

Not true, it just takes a bit more skill to tilt the game in your favor as killer. Learn Nurse/Blight, throw on 4 slowdown perks, use Alch Ring/Crow or Double recharge and watch your win streak pile up.
So thats it? Only 2 out of 26 killers are considered viable if they slap on 4 slowdown perks and the best addons?
-
Totally missed that one.
Thank you too.

Well current dailies are stll bad then. 30K is not worth me to play killer or sabo hooks.
Tbh, they should let us choose if we prefer easy dailies with little bloodpoints or hard ones with large bloodpoint amounts.

You will probably lose out. They will also give a one-time Login-Bonus of 100k BPs if you log in afterwards at some point (I dont know the exact days). I guess this is to compensate for not being able to save 3 Daily Rituals for the new Chapter.
Oh, ok.
Thx for the answer.

Asking survivors to work for their perks is too mean. Only killers should have to put effort in the game, survivors should just get the easy free win, hence why hatch and keys exist.
Which brings us to the Original Undying and Boons. But thats a story for a different thread.
-
Fun fact: Dailies originally gave much more bloodpoints than they do now. But with the catch, that you had to complete several matches to complete them. People complained and they were toned down to be completable in a single match.

Don't survivors technically earn adrenaline by doing all the gens? The killer on the inverse earns noed...by all the gens being done? Kinda counterproductive since the goals not to let the gens be completed (hence the arguement noed rewards failure while adrenaline rewards you completing your objective)
You don´t have to touch a single gen in order to activate Adrenaline. So earning it, would mean that you have to personally complete like 2 gens if you want Adrenaline.
Sounds just as reasonable as wanting killers to earn NOED.
-
Endgame perks should be game changing strong. Since the killer is playing the whole match with 1 less perks.
I assume all the people that asked the killer to jump through hoops in order to earn NOED, also want survivors to earn Adrenaline.
-
So what happens to the people that have their 3 dailies ready to turn in? Will they get payed out during the patch, potentially going over the limit or will they simply lose out on the bloodpoints?

I'd bring back BT giving endurance to the rescuing survivor. That can turn a trade into an escape.
But only once, right? Like the old BT, which had only one charge.

Survivors: facing blight and nurse every match is boring.
Also survivors: wraith OP, pls nerf.

I mean, this game is a asymetrical horror game.
In my perspective, the killer MUST have a better control of the game, I mean, he is the god dang killer!
It is 4 against 1, so...
The game is 4vs1. Killer should be as strong as the 4 survivors.
So why balance for 1vs1?
-
Sbmmr isn't the problem.
The terrible balancing IS the issue. Sbmmr just made it visible for more players.
Killers feel forced to use 2/3 gen slowdown perks and/or tunnel out the first survivor asap. In order to slow down the game.
Killers don't have time for a slow 12 hook match and it shows.
-
We have dedicated servers. Everything should be trackable through the server logs. Everything that takes less time than usual should raise a red flag.

they usually respond nicely
i had one artist tho that tunneling out and sent me a message saying “easy”
I get a little bit of everything. Most of the time, I get no message at all, when I win. Sometimes friend invites. Sometimes someone haunts my profile with toxic messages.

There are 2 servers in EU. 1 in the UK and 1 in Germany.
In order to separate the playerbase, they'd have to implement new servers.

Yes because COH has been a perk in the game for over 2 years ever since they nerfed healing
If you look at the stats of most used perks, SC was among the top 5 before CoH was released. Even despite the people that called SC users bad.
Because, as I already said, 2 survivors using SC takes the same amount of time as 2 survivors healing each other normally. With the added benefit, that you don't have to find another survivor first.
-
2 survivors healing themselves with SC take the exact same amount of time as if they healed each other normally.
The reason why SC fell in grace is simply that CoH is superior in every aspect. Since it allows your teammates to heal themselves without equipping a perk.

It's not confirmation bias. The forum and DBD subreddit are MASSIVELY killer leaning to an outrageous extent. The amount of "lol, bad bait" responses when a survivor has a complaint is ridiculous. I'm not saying the reverse NEVER happens, that would be delusional. But anyone with the ability to read can easily see these forums and subreddit are riddled with killer bias to an unbelievable degree. Like I said, if a survivor has a complaint, it's "git gud" but in the same breath "survivor takes no skill". I mean which one is it? Why do killers not apply this logic to themselves? It's like they all believe that they are God tier and their skill is never a question.
Again, I'm not making a claim one way or another about the game being balanced against one side. That's an extremely nuanced debate with many, many many factors. It just seems like on these forums or on reddit, the killer's skill is never in question. It's just weird.
Everyone is entitled to WANT to have the experience they desire when playing a video game. I mean, that's why we all play video games, right? To enjoy ourselves and have fun. There's just a massive bias against survivors here and it's like they're not allowed to have an opinion.
Like here's another example I constantly see on these forums if a survivor mentions camping/tunneling: "The killer can play how they want and they are not responsible for how much fun you have" but in the same breath talk about how DS/BT/UB make them miserable. So only killers are aloud to have any sort of complaints whatsoever? The game is just so ridiculously killer sided that the mere mention of a complaint from a survivor is "bait" and "entitled".
These are just my observations after being on these forums for a while.
Again, I'm not mentioning that I personally think survivors or killers are OP. I just find it aweful that people get berated for expressing their frustration as a survivor as if it's one of the 7 deadly sins.
There was a poll on this forum asking if the people here were survivor mains, killer mains or played both sides. The overwhelming majority of the players on this forum play both sides.
Despite the claims of a very loud minority that this forum is a killer echo chamber.
If you open a thread and complain about survivor perks, then you'll get the same amount of bait and git gud answers as someone who complains about killer perks.
In regard of camping, I'll never forget a streamer who sat there in the corn without moving, while he complained about the killer who stood in front of the hook. He failed to realize that they both did the same thing. But it's only seen as bad, when the killer does it.
Or let me rephrase it. If you see a gen at 90% and regressing. Do you leave that gen and go for a fresh one, or do you stay and wait for the killer to leave, so you can finish it?

Omg is "gg = git gud" a thing? I always write GG at the end of the game but ALWAYS with the meaning "Good Game" like WP = Well Played, not... IDK... Weep Profusely?
Some people mean good game. Others git gud.
A gg followed by a salty message certainly doesn't mean good game.
Just like gg ez.

The bonus BP is literally worthless right before a new killer releases. The cap is only 1 million, what the heck do I need more for? That is the reason they do these before new releases.
That's exactly the reason why I played until I reached 1 million and haven't turned on DbD since then. Simply no point in continuing while the bloodpoint limit is in place.
On top of this, people usually play extra sweaty during those events. Which doesn't contribute to fun.
-
@herbaljellyfish said:
Just an honest question. If a survivor complains about something that is OP, they are told to "git gud", but if the reverse happens, "survivors OP". So it takes no skill to play survivor, but also they should "git gud" (skill?), but a killer has every right to complain and being a survivor is just OP? So it is not at all possible for some killers to just suck at the game?
Source: This forum and dbd subreddit.
IMO, this game is very good at showing skill gaps for both sides. Plenty of killers can steamroll even SWFs(E.G. Otzdarva) who I would consider an extremely skilled killer, and plenty of survivors can run a good killers brains out. However, the average for both sides are nowhere near the skill ceiling of skilled players. I'm not here to say survivors are OP or that killers are OP. I think some killers/perks have their advantages and some survivor perks have their advantages, but I think removing skill from the killer POV is just ridiculous and completely disingenuous .
For the record, I think this game suffers massive balance issues from each end that can make either side frustrated. But from what I see on this forum and subreddit is that Killers are always right and immaculate in their thoughts, but if a survivor has anything negative to say about their experience...it's "bait, lol". How about some of you killers just "git good". Maybe you just suck and are a hypocrite.
What you describe is confirmation bias. You see only survivors getting told to git gud. While actually both sides get told to git gud.
Just yesterday there was a thread from a new killer player who complained about the balance and most answers were some sort of rage comics.
Also, its save to assume that when someone writes gg at the end of the match, he really means git gud. Why? Because I almost never receive a gg when I win. Only when I lose.
But then again, this could just be my own confirmation bias.

Trapper, Leatherface and Legion are easy to pick up.

One follow up question, I get (now) how the MMR system works, but is there a way to set my preference to "I'll gladly wait for 20-30 minutes for a GOOD matchup rather than a 5 minute wait for a 7 minute game I get totally wrecked in"?
Try sticking to 1 killer. So your hidden mmr drops faster, if you lose.
If you continuously switch killers, then it will take far longer to drop your mmr.

Honestly I didn't think it was all too confusing to begin with, OP asked a question and I answered it, but then again these are the forums where everyone wants to make everything an argument even if it means blatantly misinterpreting someone else's comment.
Come on. OP just talked about some nerfs and you started about gutting the killers.
No one talked about gutting before you. Don't act surprised if that leads to a discussion or if it can be misinterpreted.
Anyway, since a discussion was never your intention, this kinda got pointless. Wouldn't you agree?

it's gotten so out of control and nothing has been done about it.. so frustrating.
Cheaters kill multiplayer games.
People either get fed up with being matched against cheaters and quit or they start to suspect every player that beats them, to be a cheater.
-
This is the third thread about cheaters/hackers I've seen today.
Totally not an issue that has to be dealt with asap.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Honestly there could be. These killers are only the meta because their basekit and addons allow them to be; if they got gutted but others were massively buffed instead then ofc there could be different meta killers.
Why do they have to gut them?
Why not buff the other 20+ killers to a viable level?
We had several threads that complained about 50 shades of blight since nurse was disabled. But none asked for the other killers to be buffed.
-
The only reason survivors end up with less points than killers is that they don't interact with the killer or other survivors.
I've seen survivors escape with 11k bloodpoints. That number isn't so low, because survivors earn so little. It's so low, because that survivor did only 1 thing during the whole match.
Most of the time I end up with the same points as the killer or even more. Key is to do a little bit of everything. When 2 survivors reach the hook almost at the same time, then 1 of them usually turns around, instead of healing and getting healing + coop points. If I see a totem I bless it or cleanse it. But I won't ignore it like others. There are so many things survivors can do to earn bloodpoints. Yet, they behave like gens are the only thing.
Yesterday I had a bad match against a face camping bubba who caught me first and stayed until I struggled. Ended up being the first one to die = 18k bloodpoints (+3 stacksof WGLF). Meanwhile my still alive teammates had 10k bloodpoints.

So true. After they did that is when I noticed the hackers being more prominent in the game.
It gave every hacker that was banned from the game a free pass to get back in.
Another big problem is stream sniping. I don't stream DBD but I know some people who do and almost every time I play with them as survivor we get stream sniped by the killer. all players who put TTV in their name or YT are inviting steam snipers.
Before DbD released on Epic, i would face a cheater like once every 3 or 4 months. Now i can face several per day.

Unwinnable scenarios are, in reality, rarely seen. It is a matter of knowing what to do.
I don´t agree.
While sure, he´ll get better in time. A new killer is bound to face far more experienced survivors that will roflstomp him. Which obviously led to this thread. If a killer wants to play fair, then he´ll barely get kills. At least with the current meta. Only playing "scummy" leads to kills. But then he´ll feel the wrath of salty survivors which will haunt his profile and leave toxic messages.
After reading this thread, i´m probably the only one who felt some kind of empathy for the OP.
Instead of getting some building up words he just got rage comics as response, which is kinda sad and a reflection of our community.

My problem is more with the health and enjoyment of the game for both sides, not survivors or killers “winning” or killers following the “survivor rule book”.
I’m aware that tunneling is a great way to apply pressure early on, and makes the game way easier for killer. This post isn’t about that, I’m simply saying it is not healthy and not enjoyable so long term game health wise, is not a good look when the player base has already been dropping for 5 months straight. Maybe to you, but to me and what I assume the majority of the player base; camping and tunneling is a snooze fest for both sides that just increases the already present toxicity in this game.
Game design is the number one issue here, I’m not blaming the players for this situation.
Current gen speed isn´t exactly an enjoyable experience for killers. Unless they equip 2+ gen slowdown perks and/or camp&tunnel, the match ends with just a few hooks. Its not like killers want to play like this. They feel forced to play like this.
Addressing one issue while ignoring the other is a mayor mistake.

Oh i´m all in for getting stacks for getting someone up from the slugged state, just like @Phasmamain recommended.
But the rest is just like it always was. Funnily enough, the devs had to remind survivors about how WGLF works, by "introducing new ways to get stacks".
WGLF is basekit for me. You get stacks for everything that saves a survivor from getting on the hook.

You just don't get it.
By "apply pressure" I mean patrol the same generators in as close to a repeated, predictable pattern as possible, preferably while ringing this bell so everyone knows when you're coming. Not do something which may cause my team to feel pressured or like we may lose. /s
But that was banned under the "killers shouldn´t camp!" act in the survivors rulebook.

When killers got 3 or 4 hooks by the time the gates are powered, survivors told them to "jUsT aPpLy PrEsSuRe".
Turns out, tunneling someout out early applies a ton of pressure.

Getting 4 Stacks with BBQ is easier than WGLF, if you dont want to throw the game. With BBQ, you just have to play, with WGLF, you have to go out of your way to get 4 Stacks.
Personally, I think that things like Flashlight- and Pallet Saves should count towards Stacks, they did in the past, but the Devs removed it when they buffed WGLF. Also, it should grant a stack for picking up a Survivor from the ground, I really dont understand why this is not a thing, because it would be such a nice synergy with the other effect of the Perk.
Devs didn't remove anything.
Those things have been working like that since the beginning and still work.

Honestly, I really like this and would love to see if I would average more stacks this way. BBQ is the reason I went towards gens with how to get stacks. since the killer gets a bonus for doing their objective, I think survivors should also get a bonus
That is literally how WGLF works right now. You get stacks for rescuing a survivor via blinds and pallet stuns.
