It isn’t “obviously done on purpose”. Did you not read what I said? Trying to 4% to get off hook then missing the skill checks on ACCIDENT shouldn’t be a dc penalty. And there’s no way for the game to know if you accidentally or purposely did. Plus what about situations where there’s only one other person left and your on hook and you want to try to give them hatch? That should be a dc penalty as well….? It’s mind boggling how the people with 10K+ posts have some of the worst ideas

Why would you try to unhook yourself, when the other 3 survivors are still alive? I fail to see the issue here.

Even more, the whole "unhook yourself" is a questionable mechanic to begin with. Getting across the map to unhook someone, who tries to unhook himself right before you reach him is one of those "i shouldn´t have come here" moments.

Please don´t try to give the hatch. It rarely succeeds and hurts your team more than you think. Yesterday i´ve had a teammate who let 2 survivors die, just so he could get the hatch. Which he didn´t get, btw.

That is VERY problematic. If someone tries to 4%, fails each, then misses both skills checks on second phase…..then that should be a DC? That would be a mess.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2852394#Comment_2852394

Another problematic idea. Not as much, but the issue here deliverance would be rendered useless, along with luck offerings and perks. Even if YOU think since it doesn’t add as much it isn’t worth it, it could be a game changer if you succeed.

Why would that be a mess? Its obviously done on purpose.

  • Because his chains are annoying.

    I love that about him.

  • It would be great if ALL the information was visible on a single page. Instead of spreading it over several ones.

I think better, it just should remove from game. 4% chance is not great, even luck offerings are not making it good. This is unhealthy and bad mechanic.

I don't remember when i faced with un-meta survivors last time. Yeah, they had meta perks.

Then they would have to rework several perks that affect unhooking themselves. Which might be the main reason why its still in the game.

  • Am i the only one who loves going against Nurse?

  • There is no excuse for suicides on hook. It hurts the team and the game balance, because it gives out false stats.

Those should be treated like disconnects.

It's so nice seeing survivor being grateful and respectful when they don't have to play against the usual huntress, blight and nurse they always complain about. /S

Indeed. Our community truly understands the struggle of a new killer and makes sure, that the learning process is as soft as possible.

  • Yesterday I had my third match with Sodoku and managed to get 3 hooks through the whole match.

Lots of clicky clicky and teabags.

It's so nice to play a freshly released killer and get the corresponding mmr rating...

  • Have you considered switching to killer? YOU could be the difference! A killer who doesn´t tunnel at all!

Keep us informed how it goes.

Corrupt and Pain Resonance/DMS are right there and they go for ruin undying tinkerer pop despite all that. They have the options now, with them being potentially better, the options just aren't being used.

Though ofc, I don't play as these people and I don't know what's going on in their head. You could very well be correct.

My point was just that the exact same perks are being used even with the newer ones, so I can't really experience them since I don't ever face them.

Despite all that, don´t you find it kinda "unbalanced" how killers have to sacrifice half or even 3/4 of their loadout. Just to slowdown gens?

Playing without slowdown has become nearly impossible.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2850687#Comment_2850687

And yet EU adores it. PR would be better than Pop but considering they struggle to win with that build I don't think they're the best at the game

I think its more grasping at any straw in a desperate attempt to slowdown gens, instead of actually liking it.

  • @Lucent said:

Why would they reduce anything that encourages people to play more from their perspective?

    You mean less.

No new player will look at how meager his points are after a match and then look at all the grind thats in front of him and think "oh great! I feel motivated to play more".

  • @JamIsNotMyName said:

I’m really enjoying how BHVR has been introducing more diverse perks for killers to use when it comes to the gen regression meta for killers! As someone who plays both survivor and killer it’s really helped in my personal enjoyment of the game.

When playing survivor not having to constantly deal with Ruin is really nice. Sure it can be tough having to deal with the more recent regression perks but honestly the diversity is all that matters, and it’s really helped make each game feel more unique.

And as a killer player who refuses to run Ruin, getting to make interesting builds that don’t have to include it has been fun too. Yeah some are much more powerful than others, but it’s still enjoyable experimenting with combinations rather than slapping on the same old one or two perks.

    That’s just my opinion though!

Tbh, while i see Call of Brine as the new Ruin, i can´t stop thinking that its just another bandaid for the obvious gen speed problem.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I'm sure I'd love them if I saw them but alas it's still better to slap ruin undying tinkerer and pop onto Blight and call it a day

Thats a terrible inefficient combo. You basically waste 2 perkslots for "backup" when Ruin gets cleansed.

  • This chapter was announced shortly after the release of the last chapter. Very unusual. I guess they expected to build some hype but it didn´t worked out as planned. So they tossed in the login rewards and bloodpoint events to avoid a downward spiral.

For add-ons, items. That's okay. But it is so silly to nerf killers and perks for this. I mean why people are using anti-gen, anti-camp and anti-tunnel perks? Because we have not any mechanical counter for them. We need to use. But what is BHVR doing? This perk is using so much, maybe it is so op. Lets nerf.

Ironically they once said on a Q&A that players shouldn´t feel forced to take a perk. Yet here we are, where playing without gen slowdown perks is a guaranteed loss.

Nurses seems very fun when you get to know her power very well. But the rumors for the nurse is that she needs a rework for the game like:

Perk Reworks, No Terror Radius theme, Power Reworks, and Add-on reworks.

If you can state this I need options for her because i'm too lazy to write it down right now. But you can tell me of you can say about this rework and state some ideas.

There are also rumors of big foot sightings!

On a more serious note, if they touch nurse, the high mmr will be 50 shades of Blight. Like non stop. No one wants this.

Stale biscuit was barely used, alc ring on the other hand is used a lot.

Idk if it's kill rates either, cos alc ring would have a higher kill rate than stale biscuit.

Alc ring might be rarer, at least on the stats.

  • They just look at their stats. When they see that something is used to often (while ignoring why), then it gets nerfed.

Pnhead had not this nerf threads either? But after while, i saw so many complains about him. Even after his nerfs, i am still seeing some nerf threads for him.

Most people waited with purchasing him, since his voice lines were removed on release and i didn´t really see any pinheads at all after the release. So it might be just a lack of players wanting to play him.

But yeah, just today i´ve seen a nerf thread about him. From a new player who probably hasn´t figured out how to play against him, since there are so few people playing him.

So many killers, especially with the McLean patch and during time go many reworks and quality of changes improvevents. Doctor, for example: with a distracted eye, it might feel almost the same killer it was before, but the rework of his power completely changed it works in chase and now if you know what you're doing he can be bonkers and can defeat dropped long pallet loops that some killers cannot deal with from example. Still he as many other killers suffers a lot from the Shift W playstyle.

Also we're on dedicated servers, and I haven't seen a lagswitcher within ages, so can they still do it since it's not per to peer anymore?

Survivors can lag switch. Which impedes killers from picking them up or hooking them.

Tbh, you asked veteran players for their imput, but seem pretty defensive about your opinion, when said input varies from your opinion.

So i´m not really sure what you want from this thread.

Players quit because of the negativity in the community and SBMM being disliked (I don't hate it, actually I quite like it because it's still better than nothing) and lots of things that happened in 2021 that frustrated the community such as the Pinhead NFT, cheaters becoming increasingly a problem, IP leaks that forced everyone use VPNS, dead hard validation, etc.

Before in 2018? No Corrupt intervention, vacuum pallets, instant heals that could make instantly healthy someone from the ground, BNPS that made a gen pop in 20 seconds, DS super busted, infinites, Object of obsession, Mories after the first hook, 3 man escape with keys at 1 gen left, heals in 12 seconds, lag switchers, Nurse with no recharge that could have 5 blinks and super busted omegablinks. All of these are gone, especially the keys FINALLY after 5 years.

Hit validation, Moris that didn´t require hooks, Dribbling a DS to a hook, lag switchers still exist btw, and you call the things on your list improvements for killers?

If we are going to nerf something because it is used too much, look no further than BBQ. The most used perk of all time.

Instead of nerfing dead hard, they need to release more perks that are worth using. A watered down DBD is not all that exciting if you ask me.

Parental Guidance is not how you do that. There is nothing in any of these new perks that help whatsoever against the killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2846698#Comment_2846698

Is VHS even back online yet?

Okay, but with this community, there would be slurs, harassment, and general troublemaking, and how would they enforce/investigate bans? Would they save all voice chat for every game to their servers and then just look when someone files a report? Would they ban someone just for getting a high number of reports (prone to false positives and ensures that someone can get away with racial/sexual harassment if they only do it every once in a while)? Would they hire a dedicated team to listen in on games (with 40-50k people playing around the clock, that's a lot of manpower)? Would they try to use some sort of voice-to-text algorithm to look for abusive language (prone to false positives and meaning that you can just pronounce words differently and defeat it)? Combine that with the fact that a large chunk of the userbase are cheaters who probably buy new accounts with stolen credit cards every time they're banned and you have no way to stop it.

Policing that sort of thing isn't feasible. Considering how strict the devs are about using profanity on the forums (we should be able to use the f-word here, honestly; we are all adults) and even words like "facecamping" in the chatbox, along with removing entire sections of cosmetics due to racist abuse, I doubt they'll be willing to take a chance on this, but hey.

I also strongly disagree with that idea in general, just because, again, going against SWFs is already miserable and an extremely survivor-sided experience. If every game becomes an SWF game, we need some really serious killer buffs to compete. Like, bring back no-hook Moris, bring back top-tier Freddy and Spirit, reverse all of the killer nerfs in recent memory, add more synergizing meta perks kinda thing.

Also, gaining SBMM ranks doesn't mean you're winning. There's a reason you can't see your rank. Gaining SBMM doesn't even necessarily mean you're playing well, it means that the way you're playing is consistently killing everyone you're going up against. If all you do is facecamp (either because it's your main strategy or, for some reason, you think it will land you in high-level SBMM), then you're going to eventually be placed with survivors who know better than to play games with you by the hook all match when they could be doing gens and leaving you with a 1K. There's a point where tunneling and patrolling/light camping because necessary to win (facecamping is only a good idea if gens are all done), but that has more to do with the game balance itself than anything to do with SBMM.

All SBMM does is put you in a place where you're getting kills most games. It had a rocky start, but I think it's working well enough for its intended purpose.

Well the devs want to bring solos to SWF skill levels. Right now, SWF has a 15% higher escape rate. So in an ideal world, killers would then get a buff/survivors a nerf, to compensate for this far higher escape rate.

Um they literally announced that Dead hard is getting changed. They said it in the Q&A

To be fair, on a stream about Freddys release, they said that he would get changed. Everyone who played him assumed, that he´d get buffed. Since he was released in a very weak state. But instead they nerfed him even more.

Soooo the announcement that they want to change Dead Hard, can literally mean anything.

  • Unless Clown suddenly get listed among the "i only face Nurse and Blight" threads, i don´t see a problem.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

Key words are here: SWF. Yeah, you can do this with your friends. But on solo-q, you are clueless. You are going to save your teammate, you are seeing Bubba is camping. You are turning back to gens but you already wasted so much time.

Nah, I had this as solo as well. No big deal when the camped survivor doesn't suicide.

It's not at the worst it's ever been, that's false. The only problematic thing introduced is Circle of healing, but the game is miles better than what it used to be!

Do you have examples on why you think it's better than ever before?

Many veteran killers have either switched or quit.

    There's a reason for that.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2846111#Comment_2846111

    I disagree on 2 things:

    1. Solo Q is in a TERRIBLE spot. When you get tunneled or facecamped out of the game, that's it, you lose SBMM and your teammates might not even make it out. Also I just find bad if not VERY teammates a lot of games.
    2. Undying was rightly nerfed, RNG and luck based perks should not exist IMO. You could have haunted grounds trigger 4 times, and ruin 5 times until the last totem. It was HORRIBLE, come on.

    1. Getting face camped isn't automatically the end. I had a match, where I ran a Bubba for 4 gens. He obviously face camped me. Now I saw that a survivor was sitting on the last gen, while the others attempted a save. David unhooked me with BT, but went down. I ran straight to the last gen. Bubba managed to slug 2 and hooked David, while I finished the last ggen. I got 1 up and unhooked David. In the end, everyone but me made it out. I piped, got a ton of points and one of the most intense games in a while.

Since the mmr is preferring short queues over fair matches, it doesn't really matter where you are mmr wise. Because you could literally get everything.

    2. As already mentioned, Ruin is getting obsolete. The new perk is more reliable.

Now imagine that Boon perks were 1 time use only. That you permanently lose the perk if the killer cleanses it. Suddenly no one would run boon perks anymore, because they're trash.

Yet, somehow it's totally okay to assume that a killer can lose a hex. Since its "high risk, high reward".

If you place a hex and a boon next to each other, which one would you consider high risk and which one high reward?

  • @hailxsatanxeveryxday said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2846111#Comment_2846111

I agree with almost everything you said, but voice chat for solo is a horrible idea.

For one, it would make every game an SWF game. I get that SWFs are a thing and facing them is unavoidable, but playing against one seriously ######### with the game balance in favor of the survivors, and we'd need a whole range of general survivor nerfs across the board to compensate.

Of course, thankfully, that'll never happen, not with this community. BHVR wouldn't dare. You just know somebody would be screaming racial slurs at the top of his lungs all game every other game, and they'd have no way to police it. It'd cause so many problems that it'd just be gone immediately if they ever added such a feature.

Thats why i also proposed a communication wheel (or what the name of that thing is). With a dozen pre selected messages, we could perfectly communicate with our teammates.

  • Well now its at least an improvement to facing 50 shades of Blight.

Imagine how nice the game would be, if everyone faced the 27 killers we have equally?

But for some unknown reason, some people prefer to only face 2 killers. shrugs

  • Been playing since 2016 with some pauses. 2900something hours. Playing both sides more or less equally.

Solo survivor is in a great spot right now. Not only because of the hud and all the status affects that which affect you, are displayed. But because someone always has CoH equipped. Which leaves more room for different builds/playstyles. Also the change of Kindred really helps your teammates.

Since every match has the obsession "tentacles" enabled, equipping DS doesn't feel like a must have per team.

Things that need to change for survivors:

    - voice chat = we need a ingame version for solos. Or at least a communication wheel, with pre selected voice lines for better communication. It's the only way to balance around external voice chat.

    - hook suicides = people switched from disconnecting to suiciding on the first hook. This should be penalized, just like disconnects. Because it ruins the match for everyone else.

    - item trade = it should be possible to change items/addons/offerings between your own characters. Often I have something that I need on a different char, who doesn't has the perks I need. So they just feel wasted.

Killer is a little rough to say the least. Sure, BNP are not what they used to be. Just like moris, which used to have no hook requirements.

Killers in general lack a certain variety in regard of their builds. Not because of the perks, but more because of the addons. Myers and Hag aren't exactly top tier killers. Yet, they offer something no other killer can offer: addons that completely change the way they play. I think, all killers should have the option to completely change their playstyle with addons.

In fact, I evaluate killers on how they perform without addons. Since no killer should be forced to use a certain addon combo to play at all. Addons should only be used to change how a killer plays.

Now on why I think that killer is in a rough spot. Playing without gen slowdown perks is extremely risky. Because even if the killer has a extremely good start, with slowdown perks he'll probably lose all gens, based on how little a kick does to a gen. Btw, why does a killer go through a full animation for kicking, while a survivor can tap a gen mid chase?! Anyway, during a q&a, the devs once said, that players shouldn't feel forced to equip certain perks. Yet here we are, where killers feel obligated to equip between 2 and 4 slowdown perks.

Ruin supposedly was changed to a "endgame" perk. Yet it's a miracle if it survives the early game. Unless the killer bases his whole build around protecting ruin. Now with the new killer, I feel that Call of Brine will make Ruin obsolete. Since it synergizes better with Pop.

Undying was in a perfect spot, when it was originally released. The argument for it's nerf became kinda ridiculous, with the release of Boons. Returning it back to it's original state wouldn't hurt the game.

Things that need to change for killers:

    - totem spawns = most of the spawns are ridiculous easy to find. Since they appear next to gens or at survivor spawn locations.

    - secondaryobjective = while the overall gen speed hasn't changed in the last years, it's undeniable that survivors have gotten better at completing gens. Which puts the killer under pressure, when it should be the other way around. Survivors need something else to do. Gas cans, repair parts, etc. Things that slowdown the pace of the game without slapping XX seconds on top of a gen.

    - addons = survivors have several perks that help them getting items and addons during a match, which they can take home for the next match. Killers should get something similar, that allows to get and keep addons during a match.

    - Overall balance: the game shouldn't be balanced around kills or hook stages. But instead for actual hooks. A killer who got 9 hooks and 1 kill, will look far worse on paper than a killer who got 3 kills with 3 hooks in total.

    Changes for both sides:

    - the grind = remove the bloodpoint limit. Both the match limit of 8k per category and the million bloodpoint limit. Let people play how they want. Someone who kept the killer busy for 5 gens can easily end up with under 10k bloodpoints, because he hit the maximum. This system is obsolete, from an era where the bloodpoints determined if someone piped.

    - perk tiers = should be removed. A new player will get scared away, when he finds out that he needs over 1k hours to unlock most of the stuff. With the catch, that by the time he unlocked it, a dozen new perks had been released.

    - endgame perks = should be far stronger for both sides. After all, they are wasted perk slots, for the better part of the match and might not even get to used. Because the game ends earlier.

whatever you just said makes 0 sense. this is an issue that affects me when i play survivor. i've made plenty of threads about issues with killer gameplay. they cant be the same.

would you have preferred if i called the thread "i hate when i play killer and i get nice killers"? honestly if your comment had a point, i must have missed it entirely.

Okay i´ll try to explain myself.

    @cordonrouge said:

When i queue up, i actually want to play the game. i dont want to play hold m1 simulator. i only have so much time in a day to dedicate to dbd. and when you only play a couple of games and both of those are nice/afk killers it really pisses me off. of course the survivors are not even gonna rush the gens, they'll just play around with the killer stalling the game more.

when a survivor trolls you can still play the game, if a killer doesnt you've just wasted about 20 minutes of your life. this behavior needs to be punished.

Here you complain about m1 simulator and nice killers that waste 20 minutes of your time. Therefore its save to assume, that you are playing survivor.

all you got was whatever you wanted to get, and in the process you managed to miss my point entirely. by the way it's funny how whenever i make a post about killers im assumed to be a killer main, and whenever i post about survivors im a survivor main. the us vs them mentality. i literally play both.

I never claimed that you are maining anything. As a matter of fact, queue times vary heavily depending on which time of the day and which side you play. The only one who tried to make this a "us vs them" was well... you.

Now back to the main issue of long queues and nice killers. There is a free weekend right now. So there are probably a few more killers around, which might just want to have a chill or what they consider "nice" game. The grind of this game is horrible, so i can´t be mad about someone who tries to farm. Of course, your opinion might be a completely different on this regard. But sometimes, especially after facing a sweaty SWF squad, its nice to play a chill game, where nothing really matters.

all you got was whatever you wanted to get, and in the process you managed to miss my point entirely. by the way it's funny how whenever i make a post about killers im assumed to be a killer main, and whenever i post about survivors im a survivor main. the us vs them mentality. i literally play both.

I mean... you wouldn´t be asking about doing something about nice killers, if you had long killer queues...

me wanting to actually play the game is my problem apparently. this community is a joke LMAO. dude i dont care if it's not 20 minutes and it's actually 17 minutes and 32 seconds or whatever. it's still a waste of my goddamn time. keep in mind that queues and loading screens take time too. besides, it's a waste of add-ons and offerings as well.

All i get is, that you are mad about survivor queues.

  • I'm honestly surprised by the amount of threads that ask this question.

Is there something I missed on this perk? Is it secretly meta?!
