When are they gonna fix matchmaking?

Why on earth am I playing with people that just started playing the game? They made legion look they a god. They went down multiple times because the couldn’t mend and missed a ton of skill checks. How is this game matching me someone with around 1k hours with peoples first games? The only good thing about this match was I got my 4 stacks of we’re gonna live forever.

  • Never, because the devs don't want to acknowledge how much of a mistake SBMM is, in a game that doesn't require much skill

I don't know... and it's really easy to tell what's wrong with matchmaking.

    1. It only basespoints on kills.
    2. More critical, matchmaking completely skips mmr in certain cases.

Sadly true. I get told to “get good” or “that I want to be carried” or to “blame yourself for the loss instead of others” when I just can’t get any good teammates in solo que.

    It’s ridiculous

  • It's cause they're prioritizing queue times over actually putting players at similar hours together because there are so many more survivors than killers. Either they make that team wait 30 minutes for a baby killer or they just match them with any experienced killer to lower the queue times

  • Not as long as Patrick is on the team.

It's amazing how 'pro' you become when you learn how to run in a circle.

You don't even have to run in a circle most of the time, just hold ShiftW

    You see in hockey.....

  • When they gave up and giving survivors 2hour que, or actually stop aiming for 50% kill rate and go for 75% or something.

  • Because they favor queue times over "balanced" matches.

  • You should dodge lobbies if survivors have default skins. Most of times they are baby survivors. Someone using this skins for bait killers but i would not take this risk.

    And this.

It was the same during the last year of ranked MMR and got the same shortly after SBMMR was introduced.

And it will always be the same ######### show no matter which criteria are used for matchmaking as long as queue times are priorized and killer to survivor ratio aren't close to 1:4.

  • The K/Emmr isn´t the issue. Its trying its best, since by default it has to priotize shorter queues over fair matches.

The issue is the balancing, a relative shortage of killers (everyone who tries to play survivor after work, gets a 5-10 minute queue), and that the mmr originally was designed with something else in mind than just kills vs escapes. On why it suddenly was turned into what we have now is a mistery. Because right now it reminds more of the Victory Cube than a skill system.

New players should never face experienced players. Especially when they still don´t know the basics. Someone who gets stomped during his first 20 matches will most likely uninstall the game and never come back. So i really don´t get why the matchmaking puts them through the meatgrinder.

This. The SBMM may as well not exist at all, because even when it’s active it doesn’t match people with similar “skill” together. It will only work well if there enough killer players. People have been playing killer less and less because of how broken the game balance has become

Do you think anyone plays game when matchmaking takes literally an hour? I doubt it.

Definitely number 2. The actual MMR is probably fine, as in when everybody in a match is around the same MMR it’ll typically be a good match. But because the system skips looking at what the MMR is when it needs to fill a lobby that someone dodged, for example, or when it doesn’t have enough people in queue to keep someone with an outlier MMR from waiting forever for a match so it has to put them in whatever slot is available, for example, it doesn’t matter that the MMR itself is accurate.

Obviously not. But throwing new players under the bus, just so that experienced ones have shorter queues will make the issue worse and worse.

I'm talking about new players, there would be enough experienced ones.

You bought a game, boot up, queued up, it's been 40 minutes and no games found... how do you feel?

    I’ll do that next time

I would switch the side long before reaching the 40 minute mark. If one side has long queues, i play the other one.

Now when the amount of people that are willing to switch is so little, that one side always has long queues. Then the devs should take a long hard look at their balancing choices.

  • Aren't you glad you didn't have to wait another 5 minutes to play a match? I'm sure the match with completely new players as a 1k hr player was a thrilling gaming experience and totally not a waste of time.

Also: if you couldn't teach two teammates how the controls work and game mechanics work while you evade the killer, do gens, and escape...was it really a skilled play?

  • Can't even try out a new killer with this bullshit
