I'm genuinely shocked anyone was even running Ruin when it gets cleansed 20-30 seconds into the match to begin with. Unless you also ran undying in which case it would maybe last for 40-50 seconds.
I think the Killer meta will change only slightly towards even more camping and tunneling since they are stronger now. Oh and folks might replace BBQ with NOED since it didn't get nerfed in the end, it's still an equip to win the game perk. Plus more Nurses. Yay.
-
Survivor: N/A. Now that they have finally clobbered SoloQ into the ground so hard that not even one game out of ten will be winnable, there's just literally no point.
Killer: Corrupt+Tinkerer+Pop+Deadlock - I'll be literally using the same meta perks, woohoo!
Pretty.
Good.
Job.
-
Yes. Camping and tunneling made for some incredibly frustrating experience and the devs went ahead and made it easier for killers to do those two things. Boggles the mind how anyone on the dev team thought this was a good idea.
-
Absolutely! And with DS activating after the last generator is finished, if you get hooked then, you are just dead. There's literally no reason to go back for a survivor during EGC, because that poor person is just simply dead. The killer will wait 5 seconds, down then and it's gg. The devs literally did the opposite of what was needed to be done. Pretty. Good. #########. Job. So. Far.
-
She is literally one of two killers that can absolutely demolish comp teams. This is a genuine case of a skill issue.
-
More like the past year has shown how completely useless it is. Some high rank killers said at the beginning that they were finally getting exciting matches and not just facing noobs, but even their experience went down the drain the longer SBMM was on. And since the recent "tweaks" SoloQ is about as playable as getting your teeth pulled without anesthetics.
-
Nurse: People playing her make SoloQ even more miserable than it already is, they don't deserve mercy or sympathy and should be BM-ed as much as humanly possible.
Blight: See Nurse
Spirit: See Nurse
Freddy/PH/Nemesis: The most likely to be hardcore tunneling from moment one, so they ellicit the kneejerk reaction of "####, I can't go down first!"
-
Pretty much, the SBMM is incredibly bonkers, players have to balance their own games so to speak. If you equip meme builds and don't sweat, you'll eventually derank into a comfortable range.
-
Ever is too restrictive. I'm never the one to initiate BM-ing, but if the Killer facecamped, tunneled, hit me on the hook repeatedly, you better believe I'm going to make his killer experience as miserable as I can. Grow up and accept that if you play as an #########, people will treat you as one and you don't get to whine about it.
-
5-20% depending on how bad matchmaking is on any given day.
-
Facing off against a good, curving master Billy is an absolute nightmare and I hate it with a passion. I hope they don't remove the overheat mechanic and they'll stay a rare species.
-
Been running a speed limiter Bubba all day long to counter all those Franklin and basement campers, had a lot of fun and wholesome interactions. Remember to have fun everyone.
-
No. As a SoloQ survivor he is the most likely to 4k. In the roughly 1k survivor hours that I have under my belt, I maybe escaped like a dozen Onis out of hundreds. I did have one of my three 5 gen chases with one though, it was exhilarating looping him without going down while he was in fury.
-
I just wish I didn't have to sit there for 60 entire seconds. Just equip it and press ready, stop wasting my life. Especially if you are going to DC because you go down first.
-
Preach it. With it, hopefully we can kiss NOED goodbye, no more equip perk to instantly win if you were losing!
-
The mechanics are still very wonky, I have experienced both good and bad reveals on either side.
-
Yes, but I can't wait for all the salt when predropping becomes the new meta and killers start whining about how the game is pallet breaking simulator.
-
Absolutely abysmal, the only reason I'm still playing is that the BP gain is just ridiculously good and not EVERY single game is against a Franklin's Bubba slugging all four of us at 5 gens. Plus, playing Killer with meme builds organically tanks my MMR without even trying to throw so that's nice.
-
The truly sad part is that the "big SoloQ buff" is probably going to be nothing more than a basekit Kindred without the Killer's aura, because it would be too broken in SWF or some other horrible excuse. We desperately need a ping system to let the other survivors know I have BT so I can save in front of the killer, unlike the adept Meghead running straight towards the hook.
-
At least the torture is over in less than 4 minutes and you even lose some MMR so you'll have fun matches once the event is over.
-
Very weird. Whenever I bring a super decked out toolbox I immediately jump on the nearest gen to get value out of it before Franklin, slugging Nurse etc robs me.
-
Feels especially good when you get the hatch against the insidious facecamping Bubba.
-
Pretty good job so far.

The guy who had No Mither in my game DC'd when i downed him for the first time.
:( didn't even give me a chance
I wanted a full stack of BBQ so I hooked the David last with Oni and he gave up on hook, it was so sad to see :(
-
If nothing else this event is lowkey fantastic for manually adjusting your MMR to more suitable levels. Just put on some meme builds and watch all four survivors leave without even 5 minutes wasted of your life.
-
Niceness is also censored lol
-
In order to have a working SBMM, they would need to establish a person's skill based on perks, items, SWF/soloQ, opponent etc. This is an INCREDIBLE amount of time and effort, and BHVR is never going to go for it. So no, people are never going to be playing against a roughly equally skilled opponent/teammate.
-
Decide to play killer to get some BP
All five gens done in 3 minutes 15 second
Switch over to Survivor
I do 3 whole gens all alone
We all die.
For a celebratory event I sure am having a horribly unfun time even by DBD standards.
-
Yes, this was not very well thought out by the person designing this whole thing.
-
Pretty good job so far.
-
My prediction is that Nurse will be even more ridiculously broken than she is now and she will lead to more DCs than Iri Huntress or MD Ring Spirit.
-
It's especially funny, since they have access to the stats, so they could have literally broken it down to slightly above average performance.
-
First survivor match, basement Bubba. Well, I guess I'll only be bringing objective BP offerings, have fun Killer mains~
-
I played my first killer game during the event and had the fifth gen pop around 3 minutes 10-20 seconds. I have never in all my 1.7k games felt as tempted to play a basement bubba. Go crazy my friends.
-
Wow! People are playing the most popular event in the game? Who would have thought such a thing would occur!
-
Matchmaking is broken. As it literally pairs up highly experienced killers with thousands of hours in the game with players who are pretty new. As of today, it's basically as good as if people were paired up completely random.
-
Counterarguement: yes you are and killers need to grow the ######### up. If you want to play like an ######### you have absolutely right to do so. And the survivors have absolutely every right to call you out for out. Learn to take it not just give it.

I have actually seen less wonky matches since the SBMM changes - keep in mind that they also tweaked things to ensure that certain impenetrable barriers exist between specific MMR bands. What you are describing is...literally impossible now, unless the system bugs out or someone is smurfing.
Killers that have played for years and have not smurfed as far as we can tell get survivors with less than a 100 hours in the game. Now I'll be the first one to admit that time =/= skill, but there's no way anyone can get good enough in 100 hours to be a fair challenge to a 6k+ Nurse main.
-
It would be weird if BHVR said it shouldn't be allowed, considering that they condone and encourage smurfing, as evidenced by their recent MMR changes allowing all those godly Nurses and Blights to annihilate even less experienced players than before by removing the soft cap from 1900 to 1700.
-
You can't mindgame that which has no mind.
-
People really need to stop pretending that there is matchmaking in this game. It was funny for a while everyone being in on the joke, but it's really out of date now.
-
Absolutely not, I'm not giving Nurse mains a single more extra BP than absolutely necessary.
-
Well, to be fair the dev team is powerless against almost anything considering their abysmal track record for the past 6 years lol
-
"Play in SWF or get #########."
-The devs, probably.
-
Because the developers are incredibly bad at their jobs. I'm sorry, but the dev team has shown time and time again over the past 6 years that they are completely out of touch with the game, making ridiculously bad decisions constantly and needing multiple years to do simple, good changes (hatch rework, Trapper default +1 bag etc).
-
That would be a horrible bandaid solution to a systemic problem.
Killers need to be reworked alongside every single map, so that every single killer is viable and you don't just lose the game because you got sent to Gideon as an M1 killer.
SoloQ needs a huge info boost including, but not limited to: built in Kindred and being able to call out perks that you have.
They need to create a matchmaking system that puts people of equal skill level against one another.
Of course BHVR is going to do absolutely zero of these, so we'll just have to continue to live with the current situation.

For more experienced players, sure.
For newer players - hell no.
Think of it this way. An experienced player, under ranks, will - on average - have much easier games. A newbie will - on average - have much harder games.

They weren't, though.

Thing is - on average, a killer that can 2 hook everyone or a survivor that can loop the killer all game may not win that game, but on average, they'll kill/escape more.

Absolutely not.
Otz did a 100 streak on pre-rework Plague. A 50 streak on pre-rework Trapper.
He had to struggle to get much shorter streaks on Cenobite, Artist and he basically gave up on Sadako. The only reason he got a chonky streak on Artist was the MMR testing.

Maybe? But can you also entertain that 'slightly worse (I'm guessing you're meaning 'more sweaty') for me' might mean 'better for everyone else'?

It's not just queue times - that's mostly okay (naturally, could be better). It's lobby dodges which basically cause the system to grab anyone and that's where you get the weird games.
I've started dodging any 'ready' lobbies I join, and now I'd say maybe 4/5 of my games are pretty decent.

You do know that he lost streaks even back during GBMM right?
I just don't understand how you can watch something like this and claim that the SBMM is working
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot83t0CZE2UWhere he 3ks with an always tentacle up Nemesis and a crouch only Ghostface because 9 out of 10 lobbies that he gets thrown into is stuffed to the brim with baby survivors that don't even look behind their back.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1499776811Or this where Hens and pals are going up against the newest of killers despite the fact that they are both good and on coms.
SBMM is literally garbage and pairs up the best killers with the worst survivors and vice versa. I understand that RBMM did this too, but how can you look at any recent footage and claim that the system works is just beyond me.
-
If you want an objective measure, just watch any good Killer main stream from before MMR to after SBMM. Tell me that their opposition has become more tailored to their skill level. People always bring up how Otz can't do his no perk 3k 100 streaks anymore, because he losses 2 games out of 100 instead of 1, but more than half the lobbies he and other very experienced and good killers face I could destroy as well and I'm nowhere near his or other highly skilled killer main's level.
The kill/escape=skill gives a far worse skill approximation number than grades where what you actually did mattered as opposed to how lucky you are with your teammates.
-
SBMM has been the absolute worst thing to happen in DBD for me personally. I started playing the game in January 2021 and for the most part had relatively balanced games both killer and survivor wise. Obviously, there were horrible matchups, but as a whole I had way more fun than feeling miserable.
When they did the second round of SBMM testing, my games were actually improved and I was having the best time playing the game.
The third round of SBMM testing was an incredibly miserable thing and when they enabled it permanently, my games went to ######### a majority of the time. With the grades based matchmaking, I had fun about 40% of my games. With SBMM, I have fun about 10% of my games. SoloQ has become horrible and after their latest "adjustments" its literally unplayable, I escape about once in every two dozen games. Teammates sui on hook or DC 30 seconds in or just hide all game, while the opponents are 6-8k hour incredibly experienced nurses and blights.
Playing Killer however became an absolute breeze. Back with grade based MMR, I constantly had to lose games to keep myself in purple ranks because I got utterly destroyed in iridescent ranks. Now I just win most of my games until I go up against a super strong team that would give Tofu or Otz a challenge that destroy me and then back to clubbing little baby survivors that DH into the wall and don't look behind them.
My two breaks from DBD both happened during SBMM and every single month I feel less and less inclined to play this game. I can pretty much tell that the moment something comes out that grabs my attention hard enough, I'll stop playing this game completely.
-
Technically speaking, every killer has their own MMR number.
Practically speaking however, the matchmaking is so garbage that there isn't a meaningful different between those numbers so you'll see the same people regardless of which killers you play.
