I think you are conflating two things.

    1) If the survivor didn't escape through the exit gate or the hatch, then they died and that's a kill to the killer

    2) Some people just want to deny the opposing team as much as possible, especially when they feel like they have lost for no fault of their own. That's why you have people that will jump into lockers against a tombstone Michael during EGC when the hatch is closed, they want to deny him the satisfaction of the mori.

2 doesn't change the facts though, if the survivor dies by any means, that's a kill for the killer.

Or the achievement, dear god you need some nice survivors who knows about Mickey's achievement to even have a chance of getting it

So I'm super new and still happy about it but I just got my second red rank in a row for killer!(for me since patch I've only had 3 quick and easy games) . Just patting myself on the back lol

Cool, well sorry to disappoint, but red rank means nothing, only an increase in rewards at the end of the month

The five people using Calm Spirit at any given time just dropped to two probably.

The literal only time Calm Spirit comes in clutch is if you go against Doctor. There really was no point in touching this perk, it just seems like a nerf. It should have gone the Tenacity route in the buff by making the crows never be alerted at any level and added something like your aura is seen for a second less or something.

And the two penalties just seem like a hassle. Oh no, I search a chest for a little longer...ooooohhhhhhhh...oh no the totem might not get cleansed in time but it doesn't matter because the killer didn't bring Thrill of the Hunt oooooohhhhhhhhh. It's annoying at worst, and I hope (but don't anticipate) they change it back.

And even then, when I play doc and I go against calm spirit, I still get audible feedback from the doc himself to tell me that I shocked you on the other side of the wall, so I can guess where you're going

So today I played 10 matches as I planned to finish our survivor challenges and I noticed very early on… I was winning all my survivor matches. 7 out of 10 escapes, 8 gates powered …. ?

i changed up my build to de ja vu, pts, overcome and off the record. Most matches at least one other person had pts and sometimes de ja vu/overzealous. All but two killers had 1-2 slowdowns with two having four(those they got 4ks). Only one match the killer comp tunneled someone out.

Mostly my teammates split up and did gens. Most of us were just ok loopers with the occasional god loopers. Most of the killers got 7 hooks. So it was fairly engaging. Lots of killers who shouldn’t using thana tho thinking it would do more for them than it did since most of us brought med kits.

really had a good time since the patch dropped!

I can't think of it rn, what's pts again?

Edit: Oh, prove thyself, right, of course I JUST remember it as I click the post button, lol

Doc's Shock Therapy will render you unable to perform actions (including activating DH) for 3.5secs and him unable to M1 for 1 sec if I am not mistaken. It been like that before and after the patch, the difference is that before the patch you could iframe Shock Therapy to prevent being blocked from performing actions.

Note that Static Blast will NOT prevent you from performing actions though.

Not to be that guy, but I'm 90% sure it's 2.5 seconds, don't mean to sound rude, that's just what I've seen discussed all the time

After 3-4 years maining survivor I must admit last patch was a sign that I must be looking for a new game. In the first days, since likely I had high mmr, soloQ team managed max maybe 3-4 gens until 4K. After several of these matches I likely downgraded my mmr and luck changed, but the feel of the killers was just bad- complete babies, which didn't make that experience any fun.

What I noticed in most of my after patch matches?! Killers still run slowdown, regression perks. Killers still proxy camp, tunnel. That 5 sec BT does #########. And since gen repair nerf to 90 sec, camping is so much stronger. Actually, the same could be noticed after toolboxes, great skill checks and gen co-op was nerfed year or so ago, but not to this extent.

DBD just made every aspect of this game worse for survivor experience. I doubt they will revisit any changes in coming months, so... saying goodbye to great DBD community... Killer mains as well :):)

So you played this game for 3-4 years only touching one side of the game...why would you not play the other half of the game, how do you go that long without EVER touching the other side, it's like paying full price for half the content and going "that's fine"

  • @Gore_DeWitt said:

I love playing RPD as survivor. As a killer it's a pain in the ass.

Best killer to play RPD on is pig surprisingly enough, the survivors legit can't get to all 4 boxes in time, and if they do, they probably had to use an exhaustion perk like SB or lithe to help them

Of course there are counter plays to traps, that's by design you learn to work around them. Or you don't and you can keep crying that you're an M1 killer.

Yeah, let me just put this trap down where I DEFINITELY know where the survivor will teleport to

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096744#Comment_3096744

No, you just lose most of your camping and tunneling potential. Which if you considered that snowballing than you are part of the problem.

"Oh I'm sorry let me just put this trap right beside this hoo- oh it's gone, never mind, looks like I'm just an M1 killer for now and forever"

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/337608/hard-pill-to-swallow

That's not true, if tunneling and camping were made so ridiculously hard that they were near impossible to do then killers would have no choice but to play the game without doing them. My suggestion is make every hook act like cage of atonement. Here I'll talk you through it.

The killer runs after the survivor, downs them, and hooks them. When they get hooked they instantly disappear and appear on another side of the map, from that point until the point of them either dying or getting unhooked the other survivors have a chance to get them out of the cage. If by some miracle the killer happens to find them first(because remember he can't see the cage until he's physically near it) then and only then can he camp. But at that point it's hardly the killers fault that the other survivors were too lazy and stupid to get their teammate out.

One other thing, once this change is implemented ALL anti-camping perks are removed from the game.

    So...you lose all snowball potential?

  • What do you mean? Pig has a great slowdown, if she plays her cards right

Surprising enough, I actually already saw one thread that was wanting to nerf SB, but people with their head on their shoulder actually explained how the perk takes skill to use, not "press x/a/e to win"

It's not that surprising honestly, people will always complain, and then there's always those people who will say "SEE SEE, THEY'RE COMPLAINING, I KNEW THEY WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS" and it's like... just be quite please, lol

  • @Sally_S_gay_son said:

No worries, in my games at least people are remembering how good sprint burst was, I am running vigil + sprint sb myself, soon the entitled killer mains will blame their lack of skill on this perk now

SB doesn't ignore a health state you should've gotten, SB doesn't make it possible to unhook someone, yeet through the killers arms, and make a clear get away, literally 90% of killers are completely fine seeing SB instead of DH

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Don't forget that casual players exists too and not everyone read patch notes deeply or at all. Maybe many people think it's still pretty decent, etc.

How about reading the perk description? I mean, come on, an update dropped, the least you can do is see if all your perks are still fine

  • @scenekiller said:

"Don't be fooled" - by what, exactly? Sure, I agree they're acting very immaturely, but the fact remains that it's happening because a lot of players are unhappy.

And you can believe that it's unfair/immature/a refusal to adapt, and you might even be right on some counts, but it's still the truth, and player happiness across the board is something devs have to consider with their own game.

So it's ok that killers "weren't happy" for 5+ years, but as soon as it changes to hurt survivors, we don't get even a month in before screaming?

  • @RinsDoormat said:

The developer's claim of a 75 percent reduction has been analyzed extensively and often not exactly redounding greatly to their credit. However, the main problem with the new BP grind, even more than the fact that the return to early bloodwebs means that getting items and addons is more difficult, is that the actual experience of gaining BP is worse than ever (on that addon point, consider the developers openly say Killers are balanced with the assumption they use addons). And I still often see flans in my games - it'll be even more horrific once more people run out.

Let me explain what I mean: on a very long-term time scale, it might be true that eventually perks are unlocked, though the required grind for that is still probably extremely intimidating to beginning players, However, even if the grind is 'objectively' lessened, it will still be for naught if the actual, subjective experience of grinding feels terrible. I argue that the ability to choose to play for BP bonuses was healthy for the game in terms of strategy, and in terms of making the grind less psychologically intimidating and annoying.

    Why? Several points:

Firstly, the perks both gave an incentive to play nice. BBQ was almost certainly the biggest single reason why Killers would aim for hooking everyone - often one heard that they considered a 4-stack a win, even more than the 4k. It wasn't just that BBQ was a direct incentive to spread hooks and thus avoid tunneling - by giving the killer a goal to pursue outside of a 4k, it let them avoid an overly competitive mindset while playing that can often spill over into toxic territory. I personally know I was far less annoyed by BM, teabags at gate etc, when playing Killer when I knew that 'at least I got my 4 stacks', and it was an easy way to avoid getting frustrated during a difficult game - just shift gears, say 'I'll finish my stacks', and the load lightened a lot. It is impossible to overstate how healthy for the game this perk in particular really was for these reasons; not just the direct anti-tunneling incentive, but the psychological effects. WGLF was less important for this, but the need to get a safe rescue for a stack in the most regular way meant that it at least gave a reason not to unhook in very unsafe situations, while it in general promoted teamwork.

In addition, the ability to choose when you wanted to grind for BP by putting on the perks, and when you cared less, was another big benefit. It let you get in to the mindset I mentioned above, focused on getting stacks and less likely to be tilted by failing to get an ez win. But it also, importantly more broadly for the grind experience, meant that when you low on BP and wanted to get a perk or addons or otherwise grind, you always knew you had the ability to speed it up by basically 100% - and on your own terms. The incoming incentive, if it works as it did before the killswitch, will still not be a good substitute - it doesn't provide an incentive for healthy playstyles, it doesn't give the satisfaction of getting the 4-stack, it doesn't let you decide whether you want to grind as killer or survivor, and it probably will rarely be 100%, whereas WGLF and especially BBQ could be pretty consistent with the right builds and tactics.

The two perks weren't perfect - WGLF was harder to get stacks for and required going more out of one's way, for instance. And BBQ's main function often doesn't work because of how Gens now fully hide auras. But they were good, and the biggest problem with BBQ simply remained how essential it felt despite being behind a paywall.

What their removal shows more than anything, is that BHVR is not interested in removing the grind, but rather in reshuffling it by dangling the idea of a 'complete' set of characters all at full prestige, but the fact is that now that we can't decide to shift to BP mode of our own accord, the experience has gotten far worse than the lack of a 100% BP suggests of itself; and that complete set of prestiged characters is hopelessly out of reach for the new players who needed a reduced grind the most. If they were truly interested in removing the grind, perk tiers would be gone, the mindbogglingly nonsensical prestige tax never would have existed, and they would have upped BP gains so that that 40k max is actually realistic - Sacrifice is basically impossible to max out now because of this.

Basically, give me back my stacks.

Gosh, with this account name, I thought it was an gannmann alt account, lol

That is nice of you to go easy and let them win. But, that in itself spells out a huge balance issue if you, the killer, have to go easy and balance the horror for them to have a chance. This shouldn't be a killer choice.

Killers should be required to try very hard or have a lot of experience to win. And killers with experience shouldn't win every game either.

This confirms the game is broken in favor of killer.

Meh, it's all depending on the win condition for the killer, if I 2 hook everyone, then they go free

Although if you want an honest answer, it would depend on how I feel at the end. Someone who quick switched and just had the flashlight without being a giant nuisance I'd probably still let go like I normally would. If you were an annoying clickity click who was annoying and clickity clicky, then I'd probably still murder you for it :D

Lightborn feels nice but as soon as they realize they’ll just crank gens instead. Imo it’s better to have them follow you around and you’re basically chasing 2 people at once, they’re not that hard to counter. I rather use fire up for flashlights because it gives so much more value on other things too

Do you mean Franklin's? Fire up doesn't do anything for flashlights

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Switching to a flashlight at the last second is a quick way to end up on my "No Mercy for that person" list. By default, you no longer qualify for the Hatch if I have the option to do so as a killer and while I still won't go out of my way to tunnel you, I will no longer not go out of my way to not tunnel you (like if someone is unhooked in my face, I go after the unhooker instead of the unhooked because I feel bad for them but if you did a last second switch, I'm going to do the "smart" play instead and drop you right away again).

If you're gonna try to do me dirty, I will respond in kind

What if I drop the flashlight where you can see it?

But like, that's not a bad thing, just because I want to do that, there are other killers out there, probably 10x more than me, who will tunnel camp and kill, I'm like 1 in 100 people, my stats won't effect garbage

No if you get 4k by camping or tunneling then ok, it just means you are a bad killer. If you are down to one survivor and you just stand there watching while they finish generators or find the hatch then you should have killed them.

Well I mean, it never gets down to 1 person for me because I always let all 4 out (or 3 if I can legit not remember if you were on death hook), honestly, I'm pretty sure my MMR is decreasing for doing this, and I'm fine with that, more time to be nice for survivors just getting into the game

If you have to camp or tunnel you are not a good killer first of all. I never said you deserve 4k if you can get it you should quit padding the numbers to suit killers so they get buffed every patch like they have for the past 4 patches.

But... you're saying take the 4k because it shows true stats, but also don't take it because I camped and tunneled in the process of getting it? I legit can't see where you're coming from

Whatever floats their boat, I suppose. Seems weird to me. I usually just beat the toxic ones on hook and call it a day. It is not my life mission to ruin a random survivor's day.

How so? Please tell me how its backwards? If the killer doesn't kill me it tell the devs the killers aren't getting all the kills per game they should be. So please explain?

Because survivors are always screaming about no tunneling or camping, so I always go for 2 hooks because I want to, but by your logic apparently I'm only allowed to 4k because I deserve it

  • @Dunkinspunkin said:

Long game with a few sweaty survivors using flashlights and firecrackers. The Claud was bugging me nonstop so I decided to let the meg hook trade with her, kill the claud, and let the meg escape through hatch. She tbagged until I got to her.

This won't be happening again. For all the people who want to cry about killers and their toxicity, most of that is simply the way the game is designed to play out (its so toxic when you get killed, isn't it?) But I decided to show some kindness and I got tbagged for it. So let's put an end to that.

From now on, I'll go back to my old way, which is slugging the last 2 survivors and either hooking them or letting them bleed out if they might have a problematic perk.

Brought this on yourselves. This is my patch now. You play by my rules.

Cool if it doesn't work for you but when a killer is trying to give me the win whey they could have clearly killed me ill just stand there. If they try to drop me on the hatch ill sit there until my timer runs out. Most of the time they get bored and put me on hook.

That's... such backwards logic, I guess you really can't please everyone

  • @CyberRoninX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084481#Comment_3084481

They have to close the hatch for that to happen. So if a killer drops me by the hatch ill just sit there and do something else on my computer until they get bored and close it or put me on a hook. If a killer should have obviously gotten the kill then they should just end the game.

If the killer is obviously being nice you should just take it

  • @CyberRoninX said:

Killers that keep letting survivors win are doing nothing but messing with the numbers. When killers do this they just pad the metric that the devs are looking at to decide how to buff or nerf things. I personally will waste a killers time instead of them allowing me to escape.

if you can think of anymore let me know and i will add them

Half of these things were already problems before this update

  • @Phasmamain said:

I’ve been thinking about this especially since the new patch and it feels like the devs are afraid of making strong survivor perk options.

If we look at killer over the past year we have got Pain resonance, Pentimento, Lethal pursuer, Call of brine and Deadlock as new great options. Out of the three scourge hooks so far only one launched weak being gift of pain but it has now been buffed into a solid position

Now if we look at survivor over the past year we have gotten COH which was completely busted on release and is now a solid option and that’s about it really. Overcome is decent but worse than other exhaustion options and Shadowstep isn’t strong enough to run on its own. Hell they even nerfed parental guidance before release despite it not being incredibly strong in the first place. Perks like overzealous and inner focus are being buffed literally a month and a half after their launch because they released which such trivial numbers. For example how strong would overzealous actually be if the 16% boost happened regardless of a hex totem or not? Encourage side objectives with bonus gen speed that goes away when the killers pressure gens well sounds pretty balanced in my opinion. Boons overall are weak especially in the case of dark theory like when was the last time you saw someone run a boon perk without COH as well?

Looking at the new patch the same problem shows itself. Calm spirit apparently needing a 30% reduction in speed to compensate for its mediocre effect, Pharmacy needing the prerequisite of being injured, Botany having a medkit efficiency debuff and Dark sense having its endgame activation removed. It just feels like the devs want to make a new meta but absolutely refused to make new strong options for survivor players to use meaning we’ll just use the old meta regardless. To me it just feels like the devs are afraid of similar outcry to COH or dead hard when they release a strong perk for survivors. It’s not all negative though with perks like distortion and ITR record but it still feels like they are p,saying it very safe at the moment which feels weird for a meta shake up

Eh, I feel like it's just harder to balance for 4 survivors, because if one survivor brings a strong perk, it works well, but if 4 bring it, it's probably gonna end up being overwhelming

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3080048#Comment_3080048

Its a semi-team game, if there is no comms, then there is no team. The way survivor MMR works, the devs also dont see survivors as 1 team.

So once again, exact reason why DS used to be 5 seconds in the first place. It was to decentivize going after the unhooked and instead going after the unhooker.

Im completely agreeing with you, honestly I'd be fine with like a 6-9 second or something, give the survivor enough time to make some kind of distance

I think a simple incentive for hooking all survivors would be giving a 500 BP bonus for hooking a survivor for the first time. It's not as much as BBQ, but it helps, especially now that the category can go up to 10k.

I agree with the rest of the changes too. Thana could be 16% reduction to gens, and 8% reduction to heal speed. That would be cool, and feel less awful, plus bring back a little of the "old thana" without being broken.

Tunnelers don't care about bloodpoints, they care to win

(For clarification, Fixated got renamed to "Self-Aware" after the removal of Stranger Things, i would rather pretend that the chapter that got me into playing DBD and played host to my favourite killer ever was never removed in the first place, so i refuse to call it that)

After 6.1.0 went live and Spine Chill and Iron Will were nerfed, i figured I'd experiment with a few new perks to see what i like, surprisingly enough, i started really enjoying Fixated and it's kind of hard for me to put into words why i do

i'll start with the biggest reason, my biggest problem with playing survivor, and the main reason why i use Lithe instead of Sprint Burst, is that the default walking speed is so goddamn slow, so end up running everywhere, which means i get spotted very quickly and usually make Sprint Burst completely wasted on me, Fixated boosting that molasses speed by 20% feels so much nicer, and i don't spawn scratchmarks either, meaning i can get to where i want or need to be faster and safer

and the 2nd reason is just how much that 20% faster walking actually lets me get away with, i get around walls and cover faster, i make more distance from the killer when i want to recover some of my exhaustion, i can hide easier because i get further away from my scratch marks, it really is hard to put into words how much i love this damn perk now, so i leave you with only 5 of them

    Fixated is great, use it

Eh, it's a meh info perk at best, when you can run other good perks

Which is laughable. Because i had a game just the other day where a Bubba was proxy camping Shack basement for a hook. Wouldn't commit to a chase. I said screw it (i'm a solo player and i'm not stupid) I went and started doing Gens. Did 4 on my own while my team continued to just swap out who was going down and what not. Ended up getting hatch while he was chasing me. He was literally upset and said I was selfish for doing gens while they were going for unhooks and that I gen rushed him....

Yes. But DS was the issue. lmfao

I mean, Bubba is the best camper in the game, why not play to his strengths
