  • After every chase just leading back there I just AFKd in the middle of the map till they all escaped. I'm killer rank 11, and Was a rank 3, 3, 4, 8. All solo, or so they claimed. Matchmaking and that loop just wasn't fun.

  • You are of course entitled to your opinion. Its not a long list. I only ad people when they've gone out of their way to be toxic in game to me, or are really toxic in end game chat after they've escaped / won.

I get people being salty in end game after a loss, that happens all the time. I can take that. Its poor winners who really grind my gears.

But this logic is unfair because why can't survivors see the killer's name to avoid the toxic ones too?

I'm not asking for survivors to see killers' names, I think killers seeing our names is not beneficial to the outcome of the game other than to target certain players

I'd have no problem with that. I actually think there should be an ignore list that we can add folk to so we don't have to play against them.

  • Would love to see that as a game mode. Maybe make it 2v6 or something, but think of all the possibilities of Duo Killer groups. That actually sounds like a lot of fun.

Doctor + Pig, how scary would that be. One massive terror radius killer and one sneaky one?

  • Yeah, that happens a lot, especially if it was a SWF groups with 3 reds and a lower rank. They like to bully lower rank killers.

Of course it might have been 4 solos too, matchmaking is a raging dumpster fire right now.

Tunneling and camping may be legitimate strategies but they are ineffective strategies in most red rank games. If you're camping or tunneling one survivor. You're not providing any pressure to the other three survivors, meaning they can work on generators unchallenged.

If the survivors aren't stupidly overly altruistic, tunneling and camping is a sure way to throw the game.

Although you kinda need to slug at red ranks, even at five gens.

I agree with you, of course. Most of the time its not overly useful, but you can't mandate people playing optimally.

A lot of the time in groups, they get super altruistic like you said. At that time, it goes from extremely bad to super effective.

  • We need to see the names.

If I couldn't see the names I couldn't dodge the people I've added to my list.

  • I consider it legitimate game play, that is sometimes a good idea and sometimes not.

A killer should play the game in a manner that best ensures they have fun. For most, that means getting as many kills as possible.

If you don't have fun tunneling, don't do it. If its great for you, do it. Same for camping and slugging.

There are perks that can counter play just about any / all of this, and even without the perks your team could either try and save you, or use you as a distraction to ensure the rest of you escape.

IMO, if I play survivor and a killer decides to tunnel and camp me, I hope my team uses every second available that the killer is occupied with me as a chance to get an escape.

As killer, I usually only use these tactics when they are beneficial to getting the kills.

That said, I have changed my "win" objective in my head before in the case of Toxic survivors. Click a flashlight at me? Point? Teabag? I'll ignore all and let everyone escape just to I can basement camp you and make sure you die. I'm fine with that, and its satisfying.

As long as you aren't committing a bannable offense, play the way you want.

  • PREACH!

I love this concept. Survivors need not do things like unhooks, healing and saves! Just hide!

These friends playing together? HOW DARE THEY??

To be fair, I am happy that friends get to play together. I really am.

But having a premade changes the difficulty of the game. A lot. Nothing here accounts for that, and you have no way to know if you're facing one or not. You can guess, and Lobby dodge, but noone likes that happening.

I'd love to see balance put into the game to account for the presence of SWF groups, and as I've said many times, I'd also love an option to opt out of facing them, even if it meant longer queue times.

Hell, even a multiplier on my rewards that I get from facing them would make it more tolerable.

I'm all for people having fun with friends, but I don't enjoy playing against SWF in the same way that I wouldn't enjoy if my opponent in a game of local field football tagged out for the New England Patriots.

So had this been a completely innocent group of solos they'd have all died. You'd feel better but you would then have spread negativity to four other people, who would then spread it to another few killer players, and the cycle would continue.

Be the change you want to see. End the cycle with you, don't become a part of it. My philosophy anyway, and this game would be a whole lot less toxic if others stopped taking out their frustrations on people completely unrelated to their previous match.

All the evidence I see points to the contrary. Look at our current hatch situation. Survivors were toxic and held the game hostage for hours. Many folks we see here admit to doing so. They continued to do it through months of complaining on the forums.

BHVR rewarded them with a free hatch escape even when no gens were done.

Until I see some kind of way to tell when I'm matched up with a premade group, or get the option to not play against them, I don't have much choice except to treat every group I run into as if they are very likely a premade.

I get that sucks for solo players, but until change happens it is what it is.

This was also my first thought. When I get trashed as killer I do not take it out on the next group of survivors, who in no way caused my defeat. I either jump off if I'm still tilted, or swap over to Survivor mode for a spell.

Playing both sides for years prevents me from doing what i would consider undeserved venting.

I totally did, yes. Now, as luck would have it, they were also a 4 man SWF, I checked after in end game chat. And one did get his hatch escape.

I always get told every time I complain about the hatch that I'm not guaranteed a 4k, I accept that. But also I've come to realize there is no issue If I use the strongest addons and tactics to win. They aren't guaranteed an escape.

It is a rather calming philosophy.

Also, I now want a snickers.

  • Just got bullied by a 4 man SWF.

    They've made the list.

    No.

That would create the same situation TF2 had with Tacobot.tf.

I really prefer not to have this issue.

Never read about that but just googled it. I have run into players before that I thought, "If I had an in game ignore list that would allow me to never be in a match with them again, I'd add them to it."

The reality is that if people want to do that outside of game, short of hiding all the names pre game, there isn't a lot to be done about it. I do have some survivors whose names I recognize, that I just dodge, 100%. Nothing that BHVR could ever do would be incentive enough for me to spend time in game with those toxic lowlifes.

I already keep a list such as this personally. All this would be is sharing it with other community members. I obviously wouldn't do such a thing on these forums, that'd be against the rules :)

It's annoying since we can't tell what rank our opponent is. The toxic swfs are annoying but that's why I hate it when a swf does something nice and people are just ignore it. It's like people don't want to think a swf can do something nice.

There should be an unofficial "Toxic SWF bully team" registry somewhere that we can go reference when we see the names in Lobby. Be nice to be able to dodge all of those.

  • @indieeden7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293775#Comment_1293775

That is correct. But what does it have to do with the topic at hand?

    I don't have data, I'll start there.

Its possible that the frustration of keys being more available, and the perception by part of the community that keys and hatch are a free escape, that its developed a mentality of "Well I'll just burn the moris I've been stockpiling in retaliation for survivors cutting corners with keys."

I am horrible about using purple or red addons, I feel as I should horde them, and rarely use them. I probably should more now that I think of it though.

  • @Peanits said:

Nothing has really changed, this is just the way things work. Cheats come out, cheats get detected/fixed, then people find new ways to cheat and the cycle repeats. We've always got a team working on it and we'll make sure to get them fixed and the cheaters banned as soon as we can.

Thanks, I'm sure you get to repeat this a lot.

Don't we all wish Devs were the all powerful super wizards with infinity gauntlet speed snap fixes that users want and demand? :D

  • @yato said:

This game is becoming a pile of cheaters, in the last two weeks I have met 5 cheaters, one I even met twice... well, you may ask what the devs have to do with it? the fact that only one has been banned, and the one I met twice is still playing, and some even have more than 1000 hours of gameplay... another fact is that who insult, the day after has a ban, the cheaters have to play against a dev to get a ban? come on, this game is becoming a joke

I'm cautiously optimistic... but please tell us.

In what manner were they cheating?

  • I'll do that sometimes if its apparent in the first few minutes that I'm going against either a toxic team or a 3-4 man swf. Its not gonna be a fun game for me sometimes in that case, so i just let it end.

Not all the time, just sometimes.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

While I agree that camping isn’t punishable and shouldn’t be.

    Im just gonna say this.

The camping continues you will never see anyone join a lobby without BT. Why? Because outside of that you would just be trading hooks. Cuz even with BT you are still trading hooks sometimes.

So no, leave camping as it is, but stop complaining when survivors have to keep bringing meta perks.

I had a match a bit ago where I got a 4k, as counter intuitive as it sounds, I just tunneled the one who had BT on. I think it rattled the others so hard they all tried to get super altruistic and kept running at me as huntress.

Sometimes playing against the Meta can mind game them into killing themselves. I like it. Gives players options.

Of course I know if they'd of just done Gens they'd of gotten out.

  • Camping is most of the time a bad strategy, that doesn't reward the killer.

Other times its the perfect strategy. I just went against a group that was hellbent on unhooking everyone right after I hooked them, right underneath me, while I was playing myers. I saw this, all 4 were still up, and I turned it from a 0 kill match to a 4k because they all decided to rush the hook.

If they had been smart, they'd of gone and done gens, and I'd of gone and tried to stop them. But if I KNOW they are gonna rush for the unsafe save, camping seems like a pretty good strat.

  • I get that you can just play through. I do try and do so as is.

It'd just be nice to have a perk to offer new means of counter play.

  • Never experienced it from the survivor side, that I can recall. I don't play survivor that often, only when required for rituals or rift challenges.

And I don't really think it needs to be removed as a strategy all together. Much like other thinks in the game that a killer would do, ie slugging, camping, tunneling, there are perks to counter them.

I'd just like a perk to punish survivors for the same. An option that "IF" this issue bothers you, heres a perk you can take to change the playstyle, without having to pick a specific killer.

That being said, nothing there that says survivors couldn't take a perk that lets them clip through other survivors on a cooldown to prevent the issues you're talking about.

The shoving thing would just be more toxic, people would shove each other to troll.

  • I'm not even talking about while I'm holding one. If I injure one, and start to chase, another who hasn't taken a hit gets in the way and makes me hit them, and then another, and by the time I've gotten one down the others are all healed.

Its annoying, its frustrating, and it needs some non killer specific counterplay. I mean I know I could just play billy or bubba all the time but come on...

  • Well, they can't make a better punishment for camping, as... and I'm gonna say this slowly....

Don't forget when we repeatedly ask the devs to add certain features into the game, and they keep saying that they won't because "it is not in their plans." If your community is asking you for years to add stuff like ranking/devotion rewards, reducing the grind, numerous QOL changes and not to mention hook struggle, you better make damn sure that you add it to your list of things that you WILL DO and DO THEM SOON.

And then they want to be smart asses, and say "This is one question that we get asked a lot, every stream." Yeah, because the community wants to see it added, even if you don't. Not pleasing your players will bite you in the ass sooner or later, BHVR.

I mean, they're a business. While bringing us enjoyment in the game is a goal, I'm sure, they need to keep selling copies, and keep making money. For all the complaining people do, if sales numbers are up and the user base grows, they absolutely don't need to change things as fast as you're implying.

I know thats probably unpopular, but its just good business.

That said, I do think the devs do care about this game a great deal and want to improve it. I also work in software and know thats often not as fast a process as users like to think it is on most occasions.

Its usually a better idea to delay a deployment than to put out a bad deployment. Many occasions launching a product or update early when its not ready has tanked entire game studios.

  • I love this thread, it mimics so many other threads we see.

"You must play the game the way that I want you to play it, otherwise you should be banned!!!!!"

    No.

  • Maybe I've got a different point of view, I've been away for 7 months, just coming back. So I'm seeing that things are a lot better than they were.

Not perfect, far from it, but they are still keeping on. Improving things. I've made my share of complaints, but they're keeping the game alive.

They are a business. Its not greedy for a business to want to make money. Its how they pay their people, get new licences for content, and keep the game fresh and fun with players in it.

I am absolutely ok with that.

They do not give you shards in the rift, instead you get tons of empty space, which seems a huge waste.

You're complaining about getting free stuff because they aren't giving you ENOUGH free stuff, often enough.

Take a step back and look at it from that perspective.

  • I actually like the new western map, and my least favorite is probably Yamaoka, that tall grass and blendettes everywhere is just no fun.

  • It doesn't seem too bad to me, with the exception of empty levels. Then again, it was the empty levels that made me pay for the battle pass, so I guess its working for them.

We agree. I don't shame. I turned chat off, and just play. If I don't look at chat, the complaining has no power. :) I do enjoy a good debate in the forums though. People here are generally nicer than in game chat.

Getting a 4K as killer means nothing. This game is too chance based and unbalanced for a 4K meaning anything.

Well it might mean nothing to you, but when you break it down each side has simple goals from a game perspective.

    Killers want to kill.

    Survivors want to survive.

You may set personal standards or challenge yourself to do something else, but as a basic explanation of how the game works, thats what it is.

  • @Kellie said:

Idk what to say other than you either got bullied/got really good survivors in your past games, you have a grudge against someone, or your just a bad killer.

I dunno, if he kills everyone, that would seem to make him a good killer.

Killer shaming needs to stop. The killer should do eveything they can using everything available to them to kill. Just like the survivors always do whatever they need to in order to survive.

Thats the game. Now that I've accepted that the games a lot more relaxing.

  • @myres_min557 said:

i honestly like moris but i think they need a buff. i dont know if anyone else thinks this but i find - even as killer - first hook moris are unfair on the survivor so i think moris should be buffed so you can only mori on dead hook.

then with keys i think you should only be able to use a key if you're the last survivor as - especially against a swf - the killer doesnt have much of a chance if the survivors are just gen rushing.

idk if anyone shares my opinion but what are yours?

You say to buff moris by making you hook a survivor twice first....

Ah, the the translation makes a lot more sense.

Nonono, I don't play survivor, like, unless I have to for a ritual or something. Check my old posts. I don't think he's OP at all is the strange part, I'm just wondering why people hate him so much.

  • If all the gens are complete, the hatch should close. No need for the free escape if they can just open a gate too.

  • Gotta be your rig. I've never had DbD crash on me, not once.

    What're you running?

  • SWF comms. Most broken thing in DbD.

But if you don't consider that in game for your list, then I'd say solidly the hatch.

Free escape that I've been told was put in place to reward awful survivor behavior.

  • They nerfed ruin too?

What did I walk back into here? I leave for 7 months and come back to all this? They don't want killers. I've seen the light.

I'll be over playing survivor I guess.

  • image.png

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

Just make the hatch spawn closed (so a key can still open it) and start the EGC when the 3rd survivor dies. Hatch won't be an issue literally every game, survivors and killers can't hold the game hostage anymore, keys still have a purpose.

This, yes. More often than not I'm going against teams on comms, thats just the reality of DbD these days. 1 of them finds the hatch, they all know where it is, and usually they wait for the killer to walk away, kill themselves on hook to give the last victim standing free escape.

They wanna burn a key on it? Fair enough, at least they have to spend BP or get lucky looting a chest for that.
