I wish they'd let me use an offering to NOT get this map, or add a ban function in where you can pick your most hated map and you don't have to play there.
-
It doesn't help that as a rank 14 killer 3 out of 4 are usually rank 6 or better.
-
Oh Oh I know!
They're in my games.

So all u gotta do is download the game, go on it, then u get the cosmetics?
Not sure if it would still work, I think they retired that game.
-
Sounds cool, I'm in. Just submitted my results. Would love to see how it turns out. Keep us posted!
-
Not to my knowledge, but thats gotta be a pretty complex system they are building, and its not the only priority they have. It seems they've also been working on new content.
An update on progress would be cool though, as a returning player I noticed it right away. Its rare I'm not matched with Red ranks, and I was Rank 20 3 days ago. Up to 14 now and still have purples and reds in every match, though I blame SWF for a lot of that. May it eternally die in hellfire.
-
Why would I pick you up if I know all that will accomplish is being stabbed in the face and letting you get back in the game? If I leave you on the ground then at least your teammates have to spend time healing you to get you back up.
Just seems like you're playing against smart killers IMO.

Question, if a team only gets one gen done, do you think they deserve hatch? please answer in a non bias way
No, I think they had the right idea in the old system requiring at least 2 gens to be done. In the current state of the game, survivors can get 1 gen done sometimes before a killer can even possibly reach them across the map.
I don't think I'd feel cheated out of a kill if the team at least did SOMETHING to earn that hatch appearing.
Same from the survivor side, though I play that less. Even if 1 person AFKs or drops, or hides, your team should still be able to manage 2 gens to see if they can escape.
I'd leave in the current mechanic of closing the hatch to avoid standoffs. Those weren't fun for anyone. As well as the timer.
-
Back when I used to play, it could only be opened if at least 2 gens had gotten done, but the killer was not able to close it.
-
Thanks
-
After seeing this, played a clown match and got a 3k.
It was brutal, nice group of toxic SWF players. 4DS, borrowed time all around, so, so many flashlights, and of course a free hatch escape at the end.
But hey, it was nice taking the clown out for a spin again. I don't think he's that bad.
-
They know. They are working on it.

Wait, are you complaining about SWF too now? Why've you gone so far off topic?
Always, and will continue to do so until it gets some kind of balance. It straight up gives an extra advantage to the survivors without giving anything to the killer to make up for that advantage. Its unbalanced.

Pretty sure the thread you're talking about is made by a guy who has gone on hiatus for 7 months, so I would think his opinion is still rather "fresh".
As the guy who was away for 7 months, yes, I made the thread after I was surprised that someone got away using the hatch when they didn't get a single gen done. Last I played you have to have the team get at least 2. I know hatch standoffs were a thing back in the day, which was awful and boring. I just never Imagined that the fix to survivors holding the games hostage would be to just let them escape.
That would be like me giving my 3 year old Ice cream at bed time just because he throws a hard enough temper tantrum and keeps trying to open the fridge.
P.S. The new mechanic was thoroughly explained in the other thread, I get how it works now. If I want a 4k I have to first fine the hatch, and either slug or make sure I hook right on top of it to close it, then race them to the exit gates.

If you killed the 3rd survivor and still had 5 gens up, literally no one in that match was having "a ton of fun" except you. I do not for a second believe there was no camp, tunnel or slug. Unless they were all AFK except the last guy. This guy most likely deserved hatch more than normal because he obviously managed to survive what sounds like a super sweaty round. I don't even remember the last time I was in a round where no gens got done. Before Hex:ruin nerf for sure.
I get the Cynical outlook, I really do, but I'm telling the truth.
It was one of the rare matches where I actually got matched up with people my same rank. I was back to rank 20 after about 8 months off the game.
Also, Camping and tunneling give them a ton of time to do gens, as does slugging, since they don't need to do the save quickly. Seems your logic is off, its evenly applied map wide pressure that prevents gens getting done in my experience. Granted, its been awhile, lots changed.
-
Free escapes. The survivors don't get enough free escapes. they want more.
-
I suppose I need to find a solid 3 other people so I can experience the game from the 4 man SWF side. I've only ever played survivor solo for the most part.

It's a tough issue mate since probably 95% of swf teams are extremely bad and easy to beat.
I guess that's subjective. I don't think I'm that bad at the game, Its possible I am, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll stream some matches and ask the community for feedback. It just seems like I'm the lucky winner of that 5% you're talking about more often than not.

Where exactly is the reward? If it's 5 gens and 1 survivor escaped through the hatch then 3 of them certainly depipped and one of them probably pipped\black pipped,
This assumes someone cares about rank or BP, those are out of game conditions or rewards.
In game, the reward is clearly that they are allowed to escape when they otherwise would not have been able to escape. That is fairly straightforward.

So keys are useless end game.
How about...
Hatch spawns, unopened, ECG timer is activated once the 3rd survivor is sacrificed.
I like this better, as then they at least need to have a key to open the thing. There is a cost, and counterplay.
You can take perks to make them drop the key, you can see which survivor has it and make sure they aren't the last alive, etc.
This is a step in the right direction.

The funny part is people actually want to increase the number of gens lol
To be fair I'm not really committed to the more gens things, I just generally like to show support for any possible idea that could make games vs SWF players suck less for killers.

It's a game mechanic to prevent the game from being taken hostage. You need to adapt. Once there is only one survivor left, it's a race to see who can find the hatch first. It's still in the killers favor since you can move at full speed and don't have to worry about being seen or leaving scratch marks.
If you get their first, and close it, then the timer starts. They have to open a gate and escape. That takes time, and on many maps it is fairly easy to patrol both gates. If they don't get it open in time, they die, so this forces them out of hiding.
Thanks, its good info, but I now understand the mechanic. I just think its a bad mechanic.

Granted, I do think that there are more interesting ways to keep a survivor from holding the game hostage without essentially handing them a free win to prevent them from being #########, but hey, this is what we've got.
That's really my only objection to the hatch. I don't really care that they escape, but you've essentially got a situation where the concern is a survivor holding the game hostage indefinitely and rather than punish the behavior, we give them a free out instead. It's like telling Killers they can't bodyblock, so to keep them from doing it we just kill any survivor that walks into a blockable spot. 😂
It'd be more fun if the aura of the last survivor became visible after X amount of time without doing an objective or being within the killers terror radius. I guess a blendette would just tap a gen while sitting in a bush on Yamaoka, though.
Exactly my problem with it, now that I'm more educated by this thread. We reward survivors for ######### behavior.

Why do you care about them? Do you think they care about you?
I always slug for the last person and I advise you do the same
I mean I dont have to care, I know, but from a community point of view I try to make sure its a fun game.
I try not to Camp, tunnel, or slug unless the survivors are being toxic.
This group wasn't, so I didn't slug. But if those are the required mechanics I'll give it a go.
-
I mean, do they want you to slug? I can slug, but survivors usually hate that. If thats the only option to avoid the hatch camp... I guess I can?

It's a chance.
You're not entitled to a 4k, and they're not entitled to an escape.. But the whole Hatch situation was made because survivors would literally hide for hours until the killer DC'ed at 5 gens.
I don't feel entitled to a 4k, thats not it. I felt like I earned a 4k, and it was taken away by a free escape mechanic. This person clearly found and camped the hatch well ahead of me hooking the 3rd, as soon as the sacrifice was complete it was over.
We couldn't come up with a better mechanic than this for them to make sure the game didn't last hours? it seems lame.

I'd rather have the last survivor leave than spend 1 hour looking for 1 person who isn't going to touch 1 gen.
As a survivor as well, I'd be petty and hide for 1 hour to make the killer DC.
That's why.
So basically the killer gets hosed out of a 4k, because survivors were petty and annoying?

the same can be said if you find the hatch first and the suvivour has to open the exit door hopeing you go to the wrong one, but if they spawn close together you are screwed so i see both sides
7 or 8 months, a long time for sure. Edit, I quoted the wrong post.

Wait, so with no gens done, EVEN IF I CLOSE THE HATCH, they still get to escape without doing gens?
I mean.... I guess the entity has a real soft spot and doesn't want sacrifices????
-
If they get Jason, they should make a ton of objects in the environment which he can interact with, and once he has already hooked someone twice, he can do custom Moris on them with brutal kill animations instead of a third hook.

I know, I know.
I wish it wasn't though.

I made a similar post earlier, and had this shared.

Passing it on.
-
Not for normal matches. When facing SWF players though, sure.
2 person SWF or no SWF, 5 gens.
3 person SWF team, 6 gens.
4 person SWF team, 7 gens!

Slowdown Freddy.
Skipping Rope and Swing Chains add ons with PGTW, Discordance/BBQ and the other perks are your choice.
Use with caution however, this build is extremely irritating to play against.
Thanks! I'll give that a try.
I get it, I'm sure the survivors will call me nasty names and complain and berate me after the match, but they already do that, so no worries! :D
-
I mean, if I could know when I was playing against a SWF group I'd try and bring a Mori every time. That at least brings the odds closer to even.
-
Those are all fair points, I'm not trying to be unreasonable. It'd just be nice to have the game be fun for killers as well. Something should change.
They get a major advantage being on Comms, that level of communication is worth more than any perk in the game.
Are killers just expected to take it on the chin and have horrible games against these people?
Give me extra BP, longer gen time requirements, make it not burn my addons or offerings, something. Anything to justify having to suffer these people when I try and have some fun playing the game.
-
Thank you. I guess that's something. I still wish they'd let me opt out of playing against SWF groups much in the same way you can opt of of cross platform play. It would be nice to have the option for a longer queue to get fair matches.

I'll record evidence of ppl constantly leaving against 1 killer, the devs should do the same tbh and punish accordingly. A system that can be circumvented is useless.
Or, I dunno, maybe if all the survivors are constantly refusing to play against a certain killer due to it not being fun, they should instead look at how they can balance that killer so its still a fun experience.
Really think about what you're telling the survivors with your post.
"You aren't sticking around for 10-15 minutes of not having fun... YOU MUST BE PUNISHED!"
Sounds kinda dumb.
-
Easy way to prevent hatch stand offs:
Get rid of the hatch. Pending the rage drawn by that statement, maybe make it an offering. If you want to be able to use the hatch, when you're the only one left, you maybe have to burn an offering to do so.
I still like getting rid of the hatch personally.
-
I hope they implement mine.
There's been a lot of call for it.SOLO QUEUE MODE!
-
At least you get to know that you're up against that killer so that you have a chance to change your tactics.
I WISH it let me know when I was up against a SWF group from the start so that I could adapt Anti SWF tactics early in the match.
-
I wish there was something like, a meter that filled up when you were in the same area of the map and in close proximity to the killer. I'm talking like a few meters. The meter should progress more rapidly if you're teabagging or rapidly clicking a flashlight. When it fills up, instant Mori move, Myers style.
This would quell a lot o toxic behavior.

Also, I know this is an exaggeration. Still, man it makes me wanna play perma Evil 3 instant kill myers.
-
Always assume SWF groups are on voice, and communicating your location. I think then, it would be fair, that if you can see one SWF group member, you should get Aura locations of all other SWF group members. This seems fair and balanced. Turnabout being fair play and all. Solo players would be unaffected as their location would not be shared.
-
Yay! More ways SWF breaks the game. Love it.
-
I don't like the hatch. I get why it exists, but I think there should be something a bit more to it than there is now. If you get down to 2 people left with 3 gens left its just a big long wait while they leave each other to die while trying to camp the hatch for a free escape. IMO if there are still 3 gens left that's too much.
Maybe make it so its only available if there's only 1 gen remaining. Or maybe make something they have to activate to open the hatch so its not just a standoff every single time. No situation should exist in this game where the survivor can stand nose to nose with the killer for that long and feel safe. Doesn't fit theme.
-
I'd make an event called "Fair game" that lasted year round, where killers had the option of entering a special queue for the event, where they did not get matched up against any SWF teams, only solo players.
The games would actually be fair as the survivors wouldn't know all of the perks and items that the teammates had, and more often than not wouldn't be on voice chat. They'd have to rely on the in game mechanics or pointing and gestures to coordinate.
I think a lot of killers would opt to play this mode.

-
I'm rank 12 killer, and just went vs a 4 man swf, 2 rank 2s, 2 rank 7s. After easily winning they felt the need to inform me how bad I was at the game, and make some nasty comments that I reported.
Believe me, I'd actually be happier without SWF.
-
I'd be happy to wait as long as I needed to wait if it meant I never had to play vs. SWF again.
-
I never look at items when I dodge, just if I think they're SWF players. I get there are SWF groups that aren't asshats, but I don't encounter them too often. They make the game not fun for me, so I don't waste my time. If I get into a game and its clear they're SWF, I just leave. No addons or offerings I have are worth that much time.
I can promise though, I will never dodge a game if they give me a "Vs Solo players" option. That'd be great.
-
Everyone should only be thinking about how much fun you have in the game, I 100% agree with you.
Sucks to waste addons like that, but yeah, most people will just drop rather than waste time if the game isn't fun for them. So sometimes I do consider that when I'm picking my loadout, I want a full game.
If I know I'm not gonna get that bringing the cheese, then I choose not to bring the cheese.
Note: I sometimes still bring the cheese, it is fun.
