But ragequit or emergency is all the same. A DC get punished even if it was the games error that caused it. So why make different rules for AFK? Away is away... DC is DC....
Maybe I'm just using insidious but I forgot to take Insidious, and I'm waiting for the right moment to strike, but it never comes, and all 4 escape. Drat.
I joke of course. Being AFK isn't against the rules.
-
OP: "I had read the rules and it doesn't even state going afk is a bannable offense."
I think you answered your own question here.
-
I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not upset about it. I don't wait long for a lobby, so no big. If people don't wanna stay, give me a free kill NP.
Just seemed odd.

I run the perk that blocks the 3 farthest generators for 80 seconds. seems really helpful. Maybe thats it.

No, but the point is that survivors shouldn't be able to either. Play the game if you've decided to play the game.
Well you can't force them to chase, hook or play. They can just AFK, or DC.

No i'm not i just said this in the last post to give a emphasis that survivors report you for no reason you can watch Otzdarva and he always make videos with the title "Huntress hack" because everytime he plays huntress someone say that he it's cheating so it's a fact that huntress get a lot of this salt comments.
Thanks for the help folks i apreciate :).
They can report all day long, if you didn't do anything wrong, you aren't getting a ban.
Interesting fact, you CAN get a ban for repeatedly filing reports against players when they haven't broken any rules. I used to report every SWF group I encountered for cheating, use of third party programs. (This was well over a year ago).
I was politely informed by staff that further wasting of the support employees time would result in a vacation from the game, so I stopped and came here to the forums to advocate for change instead.
Anyways, you're good man. Just don't cheat or curse at people in endgame chat and you won't get banned.

I used to work support for a major video game company, and dealt with hundreds of tickets a day during that time of my life.
I can tell you for a fact, no "Friend" who works support for any game company is gonna break policy and risk their job to ban someone because their friends got salty and whined about it.
If you're not cheating, you are safe.

and then failing to tap space repeatedly?
I've seen it suggested before that survivors should be able to 'ping' a hooked survivor to say they are coming to get them. This removes the Escape chance unless they have Deliverance.
That would be easily abused though.
The way its currently built, its fine to not wanna stay on the hook. I suppose if you didn't wanna risk randoms killing themselves on the hook you could go in as a 4man SWF. Then you'd know your team. probably a much better chance they will play the way you want them to play in that situation.

Pretty sure there won't be crossplay between PC and consoles. They will only enable and extend crossplay between all consoles.
No, they said in the stream all game versions will be looped in together.

Nope, legit strategy, and up to the survivors to make it happen.
You can use any available Mods or strategies you like on any map. Hook, Slug, Camp, tunnel, 3 gen, its all available and none of it is bannable.
-
Here's one, what if I actually want to try and escape the hook myself. Base 4% chance everyone.
You can't punish people for actually using a built in chance to escape the hook.

But why?
Screw yourself out of the points and get a longer DC penalty than the bleed out timer.
I know people love to think that they're really upsetting killers with this stuff, but generally they're just laughing about it. (I had two DC's in a game last night - one of them while I was taking them to the hatch because I felt merciful after the first DC! What a goofball. Post game chat they told me that I deserve every DC I ever get because I had the nerve to play Legion. I was laughing the entire time.)
Also, people really need to lose this "fun" argument. You queued for a game. You can lose that game. People don't get to act like a baby just because "losing isn't fun!"
I mean, there is really no argument for me. I almost never DC unless some real world influence is preventing me from staying in game, which usually boils down to work, wife, or kids.
But I have no obligation to stay. Or play the game the way someone else would prefer I play.
I got chewed out by another survivor earlier because I didn't hook rush into the basement while Bubba was insidious camping, called me all kinds of names. I just saw him sitting there and did gens and got out.
But like I said, its not an argument, its a statement of fact. If I'm not having fun, I'm out. That doesn't mean losing, it means not having fun. Sometimes thats my teammates, sometimes its a killer I can't stand, sometimes its just gotten boring.
It doesn't matter why. If I want to leave, I'll leave.

Yes you can.
Don't start a game if you won't finish it.
No, I can clearly see that you WANT to TRY and force people to play when they don't want to. But you really can't.
Sometimes you get in with a team you don't wanna play with.
Sometimes you get matched against a killer you don't happen to feel like playing against.
Sometimes you go in as killer and you just know its a SWF group, and you don't wanna deal with it.
Sometimes my wife or kids comes in and asks me something and I just would rather go do that.
You can go on all day about how hardcore you are and you'd never abandon a game, but not everyone needs to have that kind of dedication to a game.
You can't dictate what I do with my free time. Simple as that.
EDIT: In addition, dying on the hook is finishing the game.
-
You can't force players, killer or survivor, to stay in a game they don't want to be in.
-
Of course as soon as I get this I get a Doc who used an offering to put us on Gideons with the "impossible skillchecks" build.
I suppose if you have no skill you need to negate skill checks.
Still, to the point of the thread. I suppose Doc is a good counter to the blend.
-
I think they've already got bots on mobile, so could work. I know if I'm not having fun, I don't stay in the game. On either side.

You'd rather wait 20 minutes then get a 3k?
If Your smart enough then yes facecamping is a guranteed 1k
Hows the slugging statment irrelevant? You slug the third survivor and find the 4th, and get your 4k your so desperate for
Its not relevant to the discussion the OP made about the hatch is all. Slugging for a 4k could be a thing even without the hatch. Might merit discussion on its own thread, but not this one.
-
@Respectfulnancymain said:
So you'd rather survivors holding the game hostage for hours?
Hatch is fine, and killers can also just facecamp at egc for a guranteed 1k.
If you hate it so much then slug for the 4k its not that hard
This is survivor sided thinking.
You can remove the hatch and leave EGC in. This could prevent hostage games, such as you said. Even if the survivors don't do gens, EGC could start after a set timer. 20 minutes say?
Facecamping during EGC is far from a guarantee 1k. Survivors have a ton of perks capable of pulling off a rescue during a facecamp, unless its bubba.
The slugging statement is irrelevant. If you hate dying so much, get all the gens done and escape, would have about the same relevance.

I gotta be honest bro if you are getting this kind of end-game chat I think you should take a long look at your playstyle. I never get this kind of stuff. Maybe the GGEZ crap, but no one has ever wished harm on me or my family outside of the game. And I assume if you are reported enough you could get a penalty but I am not sure on that front.
I see the problem here.
You're angry that OP didn't follow the "Survivors rulebook for killers". Remember killers, if you want to have the survivors not be horribly toxic in the endgame lobby, follow these simple rules!
- Killers must let survivors escape if someone leaves the match early.
- If you use any perks at all, your trash and will be ridiculed.
- You must immediately run to the farthest point on the map after hooking someone, ignoring anyone who attempts to rescure said person on a hook.
- Under no circumstance are you permitted to attack, chase, or otherwise infringe on the actions of the last person to be unhooked.
- If you down someone, you must hook them right away at the closest available hook, and then refer to rule number 3.
- You may never use Moris.
- You may never use addons that give you an advantage.
I'm sure I'm missing some, but that should help you avoid the three year old like tantrums that happen in post game chat.

@Reinami said:
You are the problem, see my thread. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154233/please-do-something-about-survivors-suicide-on-hook/p1
I mean, it sounds like you have a problem.
Tell me the logic chain, why should anyone stay in a game if they aren't having fun in said game? Killer or survivor?
-
@WheresTheGate said:
- First to get hooked
- Another survivor unhooks me immediately
- Same selfish survivor runs around the corner
- Killer takes me down again right away
- Selfish survivor is coming my way to do it again
In this scenario I will not struggle. I will simply die right there on the second hook.
Neither the other survivor or the killer were breaking any rules. The killer chose to take what was laid in his lap by the second survivor playing like a jerk. I don't actually blame the killer for doing that.
However, to the killer that just messaged me after such a game......
I am under no obligation to allow a selfish survivor to hook farm me yet again in that situation. I am under no obligation to allow you to get that third hook. Both you and the other survivor made your choices. I made mine. None of us broke any rules in doing so.
If you are actually interested in getting that third hook you might want to target the survivor playing selfishly because they are very often the ones that make people choose to hook suicide, or even DC. I hardly ever DC (can't remember the last time I did). I do hook suicide though, and it's never because of a killer. It's because of other survivors. I refuse to reward their behavior. I would venture to guess I'm not the only survivor main that feels that way.
I reiterate. I don't blame you for taking advantage of the easier option when a selfish survivor lays it at your feet. However, presuming I have an obligation to you in that situation is ridiculous.
Right on! Its a game. If you're having fun, play it. If you aren't having fun, don't. I don't recommend DCing, as it gets a timeout, but you can go ahead and die on hook any time you like.
If its clear that I'm up against a flashlight clicking Teabagging bully group of survivors, I just go find a spot and chill till they escape. Usually goes with them powering all gens, coming over to flashlight click at me, and then I go hit the gate to start EGC until they run away.
-
I'm looking forward to shorter queues, I'm not looking forward to SWF being even more of a readily accessible thing.

They've already stated that from a escape/die ratio, SWF do not escape that much more often. Are you the type that 4Ks 90% of their games and then hops online when you finally lose a game, suggesting that SWF are "broken."
I just came back after spending the afternoon with my kids, till they went to bed, and got to read through 3 pages of responses to this thread. I love the deflection. Posts like this. I wish I won 90% of my games with 4k, that'd be novel.
Are you really suggesting that being on comms isn't an advantage?
"how did you know they were a 4 man?"
I asked them in end game chat. I was nice to them, gave a gg, and asked if I got beat by solos or SWF. Usually they tell me, though its really not hard to figure out. The way a SWF group changes drastically. Also, you can see the perks they have post game. Its not tough to tell its a SWF when one has OoO and every survivor happens to know your precise location at all times, and they weave through giving body blocks while having near perfect gen timing.
I get that there are good groups out there. I'm only rank 10 killer, I like to think I'm an OK killer. I get that, I'm not shooting for red ranks here.
I want one thing: A fair game. Is it really that offensive to the delicate Egos of survivors here that I'm asking for the game to be fair?
Balance around the fact that survivors have comms. GIVE them comms, built into the game for all I care. It seems like more often than not I'm going against these "chill 4 man swf groups just relaxing and wanting to have fun with their friends" as they all claim to be.
Thats fine. I'm glad they have fun with their friends. Would they not still have fun with their friends if the game was balanced around the idea that they had comms available?
I don't think I'm being unreasonable, but "Git gud" is not an answer.
Flip the coin. How would survivors feel if there was an option for me to see all of their Auras at all time, as long as I could see one of them, thus granting a similar level of information that 4 mans on comms get? Would they just say, "oh well, no big, we just better git gud!" And call it a day?
I think not.

@Onyx_Blue said:
@TheButcher your head is supposed to be on your shoulders, not up somewhere dark. Your sarcasm doesn't do anything to argue what I said. You don't specifically need to know if you were vsing a SWF or not to know what mistakes you made during the match. And feeling better about playing killer isn't even an issue with no UI; if people have the wrong attitudes about playing killer then they need to fix that themselves, not hope they get told what team they vs'd. The two are not directly linked.
I have to disagree here. If you knew it was a SWF group rather than a bunch of solos, you know they most likely had communication. Say I'm playing Pig. Did they see me sneaking up to them on the gen, or did their friends on comms just tell them I was heading that way? It makes a difference. Pretending it doesn't isn't helping anything.
He is right, post game bragging means nothing to the actual gameplay. Who cares? turn off chat if you like.
IF we were told that they were 4 solo players, that would enhance a killers ability to see if the killer just made too many mistakes, or if he had an uphill battle to start with.

Given that this game doesn't require precise aim, the gap between controller and keyboard/mouse is much smaller than other games. That said, though, if you still don't want to play against people on other platforms, you'll be free to opt out of crossplay if you wish.
See, that kinda gets to me as a PC player. Why can they opt of of crossplay if we can't opt out of SFW games? Let me have my PC advantage if I must suffer those trolls.

Me and my friends tend to 4-man SWF alot. We just want to have a good time, we aren't the best players and we're not toxic.
The problem is, every killer we go against brings an ebony mori because they think we're a toxic swf. This just makes the game unfun for us.
If the killer brought an ivory mori then we'd be okay with it. But the ebonys just keep on coming.
We're all red ranks but we're having a tough time having an enjoyable match.
In my opinion mori's ruin the game.

As far as countering Decisive Strike, there is something to consider: what if the tormented status effect goes away once hooked like Freddy's sleep?
This would mean that you have to get the unhooked Survivor with Decisive Strike to walk through a trench before you can bypass their DS.
True, again we come down to how long tormented zones last. You could in theory surround the hook, making it very dangerous to unhook.

Its possible sure, but I don't think it would serve them well as a whole if they didn't keep making the game look better. Other games launch all the time looking for the attention of gamers, and its kind of expected in the PC world at least that you can only play so long before the upgrades need to come.
That being said, I do feel for you. I know not everyone can afford to update PC hardware all the time, but there are some good budget options out there that can up performance.
If you need assistance finding the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to upgrades, message me sometime, I'm happy to help find those options for you or anyone else in need, though I won't be footing the bill. :)

How are they small? They have over 500 people working for them. There's a difference between bugs being overlooked or just leaving them in the game or denying that they exist. And a lot of those bugs are impossible to overlook like sound for example. Yet the update still gets pushed
Sure, but they have administrators, community managers, Developers, QA guys, sales people, all the things that make a business run. Thats not 500 devs, and its certainly not 500 QA guys, and they all don't work exclusively on Dead by Daylight.
Breaking down all those numbers, I wouldn't call their QA team that large. Either way, they're still going to miss some things.
