With all of these Killers advertising Dead Hard, no wonder everyone uses it.
Survivors should run Dead Hard. Why wouldn't you other than, well, as this thread implies, to meme? Head On gamers are the true alpha Chad's of the survivor playerbase. The one exception is David without Dead Hard, they get to meme just by using a lame exhaustion perk.

First, it was to avoid manipulation.
After details of how it works were data mined, now it’s because it can lead to elitism. Cote has seen it in other games or something, and he didn’t like it.
To be fair, it absolutely does. People will talk down on you even if they are 1 sr above you in Overwatch. For reference, it takes 500 of these to rank up and you gain or lose 20 on average per game.

tbf 20% of thana is not really a big deal, most survivors still just power through the gens.
I mean, yeah, they power through gens with quadruple regression perks too, you just take what you can get. It is a nice perk on Legion.

I think it's not about zigzag vs straight but more looping, using pallets and windows etc
Yeah... I feel like everyone is being purposely obtuse to take a jab at Behavior... This is quite clearly what they meant.

I usually 2 hooks each and let survivors escape. Which is if Im able to 2 hooks each of them too fast, I have to hold back and act like a noob to make it not obvious that I want to farm / mercy. Many times it didnt work and survivors extend their Gen too long.
Slug play doesnt make it obvious that you dont play to kill. Make them think you play for 4 men slug and force them to work hard. Though needs a high tier Killer or slug build to not make the game too easy.
I actually like slug play alot, the game is always super tense (unless God Nurse / Blight with infectious fright or let all 4 bleed on the ground)
Low mmr players are savage, they will let someone be slugged an entire game and not help. So you usually have to pick them up yourself, lol. Even survivor mains are better at killing than the killer. Think about it, can you pull them off a hook yourself? Their fate isn't even in my hands when I am playing nice.
-
I am a Nancy one trick. I will likely never play another survivor seriously.
-
If the skin is good and on a character I play, I do it for the drip. I never thought twice about the Pretty Lady Leatherface. I just knew.
-
I could probably do it and get free chainsaws, but I feel a lot of people expect those perks on Leatherface.
-
Gens are going to fly, just do what you can. If you care about getting kills, I suggest tunneling someone out of the game A$AP.
-
Not going to lie, the schadenfreude from watching all of the egos shatter made mmr worth it.
-
Most of them, really. 90% of them are never used...

And why is it bad that a facecamping Bubba goes up in mmr?
If a facecamping killer goes down in mmr they'll keep facing survivors that don't know how to deal with it. You are just rewarding their behaviour at that point.
After a while low mmr is just going to be infested by those kind of players and good luck getting out of low mmr as a survivor then.
It's good that a facecamping bubba who gets more then 1 kill goes up in mmr and eventually starts facing survivors who know how to deal with facecamping.
Then the person facecamping might think to adjust their playstyle. They never will if you just give them less experienced survivors against who facecamping works.
Ya'll seriously need to stop thinking mmr is there to stroke peoples ego. It's not an indication of skill. It never was. It's just there so by avarage you'll win about as much as you'll lose. No matter how you play
Survivors are the only ones who reward my behavior. Not mmr. Lol.
-
I mean, they nerfed Deathslinger and Pig. Nobody is safe, really.
-
Do not worry, I hide in lockers at the beginning until the killer spots someone else, and THEN I get to work.
-
I mean, they should have given you the 60k, I guess. Not sure why you would expect anything else for compensation.
-
I have never felt a horror game was scary after the first play through... So, probably not possible.
-
Leatherface says... Second chances? You only get two of those.
How that might sound powerful. But most killers have to deal with four second chances. So... who is winning, really?
-
@ad19970 said:
When you are completely new to the game you shouldn't be expecting to win often. Of course not escaping once does suggest that matchmaking was at it again screwing over their gameplay, but still.
Not as survivor, anyways. The game is actually ludicrously killer favored at the lowest levels. Basically opposite of how the game plays once survivors figure out what a gen is.

Hex: Crowd Control is the only hope you have my friend, get every totem defense perk you can, it's your only hope with that damn middle area LIKE ######### THERE'S 15 LOOPS THERE
The middle is balanced, but I do not understand why there aren't more loops and windows on the edges of the maps to make it easier to survive. The game is so killer sided it is ridiculous. Wish they just deleted those parts of the map and just kept the middle.

But who defines what is an insult? Anybody could become insulted by anything. So, who becomes the judge and jury there?
That thought process is a very slippery slope into totalitarianism. I could say something that I find to be perfectly innocent, but if you take offense to it, then did I do something "illegal" (for lack of a better word)? Who decides it? Who looks into the context? Who checks to see where the person who made the statement was coming from? Maybe they were offended by actions that were taken on them in game and are defending themselves.
Again, "no one should have the right" is dangerous territory to go down. It's better to help pick people up when needed than to smother society completely.
Context rarely matters. I had someone instigate a conversation, harass me over multiple games over time with plenty of blatant insults. At first I was just asking them to leave me alone, they did not and I said some... Questionable things... in response to their nonsense. And then they reported me to Playstation and I got a notice for "threatening" them when I did no such thing.
In an ideal world, the person reporting me gets an action and I get a warning, in my eyes. It is a private conversation that they started and escalated. But nah, because I was a big meanie, I get actioned and that loser keeps going around harassing whoever irritates him in the future.
So to that end, I agree with you. Having arbitration that ignores nuance is just not particularly helpful. All I learned was to pretend to be nice and if they step out of line, I can get them punished for it. Lol. Not sure that was the lesson I should have learned.
-
I am not sure... I like the idea, but I really prefer the arcade feeling that DBD offers. It is not trying to be a horror game, at least not any more.

He is only "good" when using an iri addon. Once engineers fang is gone he will be mid tier and unable to compete against "good" survivors. Not the 1%, just average survivors that understand loops and how to hold a button on a gen.
Not just the add on, but the hoarder/franklins combo is huge for people who don't want to one trick him to learn all the box spawns or whatever nonsense to unlock his 4v1.

Have you tried playing Basement Bubba? 1k guaranteed.

You don't always need to hide in lockers to avoid BBQ now?
-
Well, what you do, this part is the difficult part, by the way... You spare the survivors.

The map rotation/offerings, map based rng outliers, and removing maps. They need to fix maps, clearly.

They would dodge me once they realized I was a Slippery meat gamer, and in the future... An inner strength troll.

Okay, so the character is named Claudette? Correct? Now follow me here, this is apparently where people get lost: we replaced the "Claud" part with "blend." Because she, get this... She blends in.
Hope that helps.

See you next week 😂
Seriously tho this games community it beautiful and disgusting all at once the dulality is perplexing and I can't stay away from it
I hope when you reinstall your feeling better and make some good memories with some good games
I consider myself to be the most beautiful side of the community. I bring happiness and joy to all I play with. They always send me love mail after the game, but I am already taken, so I never get around to reading them.

Skill based matchmaking works well... The game is just heavily survivor favored. Most competent people knew that well before MMR, though. This is nothing new.
-
Scott and Otz often have weird survivor centric opinions despite being killer mains, but then they go on these weird tangents where even a straight OG Killah like myself wonders what they are on. Items are fine... Like, I just can't even.

Poor Spirit, she was fine from the start and was nerfed because survivors suck
It is sad, but true. I have no bias here, I do not even have her unlocked. I just can't believe she was nerfed because survivors couldn't make a read to save their lives. Heaven forbid they ever play a fighting game where you actually need to predict what your opponent will do.

SAW..... I'm a big fan of that series
It is probably my favorite horror franchise. No movie in it really achieves the all time great status of most of the other licenses in the game, and even other horror classics that never made it yet. But as a series? I think it is the most consistent.
I love most of the original films, but their sequels are horrible. With Saw, I genuinely like them all. Even Spiral, if that counts.

I really don't see what's the point of nerfing something that can counter a new mechanic. New mechanics are healthier for the game if they have counters.
Specially when the perk that could be used for it is one of the most underused hex perks.
They want Mikaela to sell well, I suppose. Or her cosmetics. Whatever.

probably not, also pretty funny DBD community is the only community I know that regularly has legit players help a blatant hacker.
It happens all the time in Overwatch. The Mercy knows who to pocket.

I feel mmr is not really the issue so much as the inherent game balance is the problem. It is possible for high level DBD to be fun, it just isn't in the current state. And it likely never will be... Because balance means dropping the survivor bias. Hard.

I hate when a survivor's argument for teabagging is "it's just a game/spamming a letter on a keyboard" like it's that simple.
Teabagging is a form of antagonization, a way to piss off the opposing side and to rub it in their faces that they're not doing well.
While it's true that it's just a video game, you should still be respectful and a good sport in video games, you are playing with other humans who have feelings.
If someone teabags me mid-game I lose all respect for them.
Just face camp them and beat them on hook because it is just a game. They usually understand and hit you with a nice gg afterwards. Survivor mains are nothing if not consistent about their feelings regarding BM.
-
Leatherface is the coolest killer: if you don't agree, he will eat you. This man has military Black Ops training and has gone head to head against Elder Gods in hand to hand combat. Name another killer that has done that!
-
I would get rid of Decisive Strike in exchange for whatever killer perks. The design is just so bad. If they reworked it to be anti tunnel only, it would be far healthier, in my opinion.
I could care less what killer perks they nerfed or got rid of besides Lightborn. That is my precious.

Sadly, no. BHVR just confirmed this in another post.
MMR abuse is rife now, at least 1 in 3 games has a suicidal survivor (or an entire team running to me), or is a TTV SWF group will legacy skins and full perks obviously smurfed down to my crappy MMR to get easy games for streams.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2557731#Comment_2557731
Actually, a lot of games have taken steps to combat this. LoL has an 'anti-smurf' AI that works really well and SC2 will straight up ban you for it.
It's really worth fixing, because it not only ruins the game you were in when you sandbagged it, it's incredibly likely to drive away newer players.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2557738#Comment_2557738
If it gets that bad, killers will just AFK games too. And then it's going to suck for everyone.
The difference is people are smurfing to beat lower ranked players in those games. In this game, you are deranking to lose to them... In other words, you are playing in such a way that merits your mmr.

Spirit will still be a killing machine, she just won't have the mindgame potential she had before.
I'd honestly say 'Hag'...but nobody really plays Hag as is.
Bubba is also an incredibly strong killer, massively underrated. His only weakness is some specific maps (but that's true of Nurse and Blight too).
On one hand, I am glad people sleep on Leatherface. On the other, it is kind of strange that they do and it drives me a little crazy.
